Well I don’t know, a scavenger hunt doesn’t really sound legendary. :/
I was expecting that you would have to fill a panel of achievements (ala GW1 and HoM tier filling) in order to get a precursor, such as maxing out every slayer title to get a greatsword precursor, or maxing out explorer to get a staff, etc (except that hopefully some of the achievements would be toned down in the insane number of things you have to do to get them).
Whatever it turns out to be it will be far better than what we have now. And scavenger hunt sounds better to me than grinding out achievements which is hardly any different than what we have now.
They say scavenger hunt but what they probably really mean is that it will just be a long chain of quests. Talking to different npcs, doing certain events and dungeons, etc.
I’m sure it will turn out well.
As I said, if we are unheard, we are silent. We are ignored. I venture my opinion, no one says anyone has to do more than what has always been done. Ignore it.
If you’re the unheard and silent ones then what are the people enjoying the game not posting on the forums?
You are not being ignored. But what you are being is a drama queen. They said in their article today that they will be doing a Q&A on monday on reddit. If that is not meant to address players fears and to talk to the “unheard and silent” players such as yourself then nothing will give you guys what you want.
Yes, and..? My point still stands. It can’t be fixed in a week so him saying he’ll “try to give DH one more week” is pointless. Just leave now if that’s how you feel because the kind of change he is after doesn’t happen in a week. You maguuma fellows even admitted to that fact.
The past is the past and we can’t change that so it’s pointless to even bring that up. It’s just you guys feeding your egos saying “we told you so!”.
What a different tune you sing now as opposed to the last two times our servers met. Enjoy the ride Darkhaven, maybe we will see you guys again. Maybe.
Different tune? I do not believe I’ve ever commented on Darkhaven’s organization one way or the other.
I’m not sure I get what the Op is alluding to.
People that switch sides solely to win are the problem. Since Mag never wins, there is no problem. Switching servers because you prefer another servers community over the one you’re currently on is completely reasonable.
Yeah but my entire point was he somehow thinks it’s possible for all the problems we’re having on our server to be fixed in just a week for it to continue to be an acceptable place for him to play.
Your organization problems should have been fixed three weeks ago but you didn’t care then because the points said otherwise. Now your server has too much downward momentum and you are going to have to deal with the consequences. This is why you focus on growing your server community organically from the start instead of waiting until the score turns sour before you try.

And..? He was giving an ultimatum. Fix it in 1 week or I’m out. When the fix isn’t realistically possible in just 1 week. You said it yourself, it took Maguuma a lot of time to get where it’s at.
Our wvw community is disappearing by the week so it’s going to be harder and harder to reach that level of organization. People giving up leaving is exactly the cause of that problem.
Last time we played you guys we constantly told you about your lack of organization, yet you would beat us anyways because of your night coverage. Instead of taking it into consideration you just assumed Maguuma sucked because the scoreboard showed you guys winning. You hopped up a tier and got destroyed and now people are realizing that Darkhaven has very little WvW organization overall. A select few guilds are very good I am sure, but the overall organization is extremely lacking.
When Maguuma played SoS 2.0 we learned a lot from them and utilized it. You guys just called us cheaters the entire time and refused to play the way we played. Now I constantly see DH portal bombing and stacking…or trying to for that matter.
Just because you win, does not make you the better team. Your right 1 week is nowhere near enough time to fix DH…but you have no one to blame but yourselves.
We never had as much night coverage as you guys always claimed we did. And that’s why when we went up in tiers we got destroyed. Because the higher tier servers actually do have the night coverage you guys claimed DH has.
It had very little to do with Maguumas organization or Darkhaven’s suggested lack of organization.
The people I’m blaming are the ones jumping ship just because they can. Because it’s easier to transfer to a “winning” server than invest time into a community and see it grow. That goes for all servers, not just darkhaven.

Honestly if that’s how he feels then he should just leave now because it’s not going to be fixed in just 1 week. Not to the level he seems to be expecting.

I really, really like a lot of the people on DH. And I love a few of the commanders. But I am sadly thinking of moving to Maguuma permently. Going to try to give DH one more week. But all these DH guilds are going to have to learn to work together better in WvW . While hopeful, doubt it will happen.
And you expect that to all change in just 1 week with our rapidly dwindling wvw player base? If you’re not part of the solution you’re part of the problem. And people switching servers just because they can is the problem.
Wow, that guy just called you the problem…we would NEVER call you that on Maguuma…come check us out =)
So we’re supposed to be happy with people switching servers now just because they can?
P.S. If GW2 only retained 1 in 20 players after 3 months and after selling well over 2 million copies of the game world wide you can be sure that would be all over gaming news websites. That would be an absolutely unheard of decay rate for a top tier tripple A mmo like GW2, especially after only 3 months.
Why would it be? Its not like Anet puts out weekly updates on consecutive logins. The empirical evidence is actually quite convincing. The facts are that only a fraction of the September purchasers have kept playing, what fraction it is for Anet and NCsoft to know and us to speculate about.
Besides nearly every online game loses 1/2 to 3/4 of its population in the first six months. World of Warcraft was a freak aberration. After that some, like Eve online continue to very slowly grow over the years, while others die out.
Yeah but, 1 in 20? That’s more than half. That’s more than 3/4. And inside of 3 months? You’re saying more than 95% of the people who bought the game 3 months ago already quit. That’s absolutely unheard of. That’s the amount of people that would need to have stopped playing the game entirely for the claim that the mega thread represents how the entire player base feels about ascended gear to be true.
Not even that Final Fantasy mmo had that kind of decay rate and that game was pretty much unplayable from what I remember reading about it.

Anet pre-sold well over 2 million copies of GW2 (that doesn’t count all the copies they’ve sold since then). Assuming exactly 2 million pre sales if only 1 out of 20 players still play that’s 100000 people still playing the game. But that’s being quite generous on the player decay rate. I’m sure there are still many more people playing than that otherwise we’d be having server mergers ala Aion. Which sold less than 1 million pre order and still had 150k active players after 6 months.
So yeah, if every single post in that big thread was unique, which they weren’t, it would have represented less than 10% of the active players in the game. This is all just guess work on my part though and the only factual number I have to back that up is their pre sales numbers and the fact that my friends list still has 15+ people on it out of about 60 on it at any given time.

More dungeons
. I hate dungeons. It would have nice to acknowledge the near universal disgust at the gear grind.
“Near univseral”? So you managed to ask every single player in the game how they feel about it?
Do you realize the people posting on the forums represent not even 10% of the people who are playing the game?
I prefer mace as my offend to go with axe. It not only provides a knockdown/interupt but also more vulnerability.
Because you are horrible, simply put.
tldr; didn’t read other stuff. Pulling out the “you’re bad l2play card” is the oldest trick in the book to pad yourself on the shoulder.
I’m just proving the point that even the highest armored classes in game can still be crit for ridiculous amounts by warriors so the “get more defenses” notion is pointless.
It’s perfectly human not to want to get your class nerfed, but thank God we have developers make our games and not players.
It’s not that Warriors are unbalanced, but really a small combination of skills are too good. Hundred Blades on my Warrior is annoying to use because of its long cast, but add in your own Stun, double attack speed, and or your buddies spamming roots/slows/ccs it turns into a chainsaw because you can Whirlwind and Bladetrail immediately after for extremely high amounts of burst.
I don’t know what the deal is with Killshot though. Adrenaline isn’t hard to build so I don’t understand why it has to hit so hard. It’s probably the hardest hitting ability in game right now.
Since you admitted you didn’t read his post he didn’t say “get more defense”. He said (in sumation) practice makes perfect.
Most people, in games or otherwise vastly over estimate their own skill level. So they automatically assume if they get beat by something it has to be over powered and nothing they could have done would have changed that outcome. In reality it’s actually much different from that.
It’s just people failing to understand what is actually required to pull that combination off and how easy it is to actually counter.

What is this scavenger hunt you’re talking about?
We don’t have any specifics yet but it was first mentioned that they are going to improve the way we get precursors. Later Lindsey mentioned (in the infamous cursed shore blog post) that she is working on a sort of scavenger hunt. But that’s pretty much all the information we have on it right now.
My guess and hope is that we’ll see it put into the game in the December update.
Is there a way to downvote threads? People are completely over reacting. I did the first 3 levels with a lvl 39 (he was 39 when we started) elementalist in my group and my guild tells me the fractals don’t get much harder at 8+.
Maybe in the 20’s and higher it will make a difference, but right now? Quit over reacting.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
They are limited time only for the event. Besides that how is it pay to win when you can get them from the mystic forge even cheaper than it would cost to buy them with real $$?
With all the negative topics, just thought I’d say I’m freaking enjoying this game. One of my best purchases EVER. Bought it 1 week after it came out and still enjoying the hell out of it. Grats Anet.
I do share some of the worries of my fellow friends here about ascended gear, being left out of groups or falling behind friends (pretty casual myself), but you know? not all that worried really.
I’ll keep my own pace, and trust this is just what they say it is, a mechanic to help introduce new high end stuff on the long run without sacrificing players that play casually like myself.
I also keep in mind one of the best features, no monthly fees, if this where a monthly subscription MMOs, I would never have even tried it, but now I’m pretty sure ill be buying the expansions too.
Anyway, I guess I just wanted to give a thumb ups to Arena Net on what they have accomplished so far
Feels like you guys need a pat in the back after reading through the apparent negativity floating around. Then again, I’m sure you already know satisfied players like are busy actually playing than posting here. Looking forward to what they plan for the future.
Welcome to 1% of the games population, put your seat back and tray tables in the upright lock position, and enjoy your month or 2 of playing a game then moving to/back to another game that does the treadmill better (ANY game is optional here)
Are you serious? You think only 1% of the game population is enjoying this? Is that why since friday afternoon there has been overflow queues in LA?
More people are having fun playing the game than not. I’m 100% sure of that. The people who are kittening about it on the forums don’t count for as much of the population as you would like us to think.
That being said, while the actual events were a little lackluster and poorly executed the fractal dungeons are great fun.
The lower levels are perfectly doable by people below level 80. I did level 1 with a 39 ele in my group.
Putting gems/runes/whatever into something soulbinds it for whatever reason (not counted if it comes with that inside it, like a ring does).
And then you have to soulbind it again when you try to equip it(which totally makes sense, right?). But at least that warns you about soulbinding, unlike transmuting items, where it’s part of the deal and you don’t even have to accept it.
No, you don’t.
You don’t what?
Soulbind it again when you want to equip it.
I just encountered this problem, it does not say in the window that it will become soulbound, i crafted my friend 2 rings and put different orbs in it and now its soulbound.
Yes it does. When you go to put the gem into the item and the confirmation box pops up it says right at the bottom in red letters that it will soulbind the item to you ask you if you want to continue.
All the crying in here yet there are countless overflow servers for both the new area and LA.
People are doing the new content. Sheesh. More people being drama queens.
As a matter of fact, all they got were buffs. I genuinely would like to know.
Warrior
Dual Shot: This skill’s damage has been increased by 10%.
Bull’s Charge: This skill’s range fact now properly reflects the actual range of the skill.
Reviver’s Might: This trait now uses the correct icon.
Stick and Move: This trait now uses the correct icon.
Forceful Shot: This skill is now a projectile combo finisher.
Brutal Shot: This skill is now a projectile combo finisher.
Split Shot: This skill is now a small projectile combo finisher.
Knot Shot: This skill is now a projectile combo finisher.
Repeating Shot: This skill is now a small projectile combo finisher.
Triple Chop: This skill’s responsiveness has been improved.
Yeah..cuz how often do you run into a warrior who uses longbow? Maybe 1 in 50 do. most warriors tend to prefer rifle to longbow for their ranged damage.
Axe main hand with mace off hand is amazing. Try it out.
All the benefits of an axe build but with more vulnerability and a knock/down interrupt. What’s not to like.
Plus all the traits that add benefits to using an axe in your off hand also work with mace so you don’t even really need to switch anything up as far as that goes.
The new zone is HARD! I just logged on after missing the main event and decided to check out the new zone. So I got to the new zone saw a Karka and said “Hey! Lets kill that to see what kind of loot I get!”. Needless to say one volley from that young Karka took off half my health and I have like 26k health. Mind you I didn’t die but it caught me off guard lol.
Also the most basic mobs seem to have ALOT of health. In Orr I can take on 3-4 mobs by myself with no issues but in the new zone I get destroyed by trying to take on 2 mobs by myself. I’m finding myself running away from everything in Southsun Cove unless I’m I’m doing an event with a decent amount of people.
Now, I’m not trying to sound negative but I’ve been seeing people everywhere in the zone dying like crazy. Also, I understand that this is only the 2nd level 80 only zone to be added to the game but it just seems like a very large jump to go from Orr difficulty to Southsun Cove difficulty which is a very large increase of difficulty. Some people may disagree with my take on the new zone but please understand this is just my opinion/ feedback on the zone.
On a side note, I LOVE the artwork in the new zone! Looks awesome in every way!
Don’t quote me on this because I’m not sure if it’s true or not but I was told the monsters in the new area are level 82 where as the stuff in Orr is only lvl 80. That would explain the difference in difficulty.
Good post by the OP. Me and a few friends have been talking about all those things since yesterday.
They had to know the limitations of the engine and that it couldn’t possibly handle 500+ people in one area spamming abilities. It happens in wvwvw why would it be any different in LA?
That’s just the tip of the iceberg of all that’s wrong with the event. I wanted to enjoy it but it’s just been frustrating experience.
All that being said, the fractals are lots of fun. Except for the swamp one which is just sadistic.
Hey all,
Hope this is known already but since is lost some coin and time on it I’m compelled to share my experience. So I crafted up two sets of winged leather armor and put two sets of major divinity runes on them. Then went out and something similar to two newly crafted hardwood staffs. Ran out of time on the platinum jewelry so no runes has been applied.
When I went off to mail them – everything but the jewelry was soul bound. I had to scrap it all. As a warrior I can’t even use the stuff it should not have been soul bound.
No offense but you don’t have anyone to blame but yourself. It says right in the window that putting a rune in the armor will soulbind it to you. In red letters even.
Consider it lesson learned. Don’t go blindly clicking accept every time a window pops up.

Don’t PUG, problem solved.
Well, not exactly. I wasn’t pugging but doing the grawl fractal there was a hole in one of the walk ways directly above lava. Fell. Died. Maybe it was my fault that I wasn’t paying as much attention as I should have been but the unfair part is that the rest of the people in my group couldn’t get to me to revive me. They went on to finish it while I sat there twiddling my thumbs for 10 minutes because I couldn’t respawn.
People are actually bothering with wvwvw with the new dungeon out?
I haven’t been able to play since about 3 so I’m curious what the field looks like.
I am definitely working on the precursor scavenger hunt, but like others have said, things like this take time and I want to get it right. Not to mention, it’s not the only thing on my plate. Please do not expect to see the precursor scavenger hunt in the next patch. I may be awesome, but I am still only human and this is a fairly large amount of work to get done and done right. Please be patient!
You are always awesome, human or not
A question though — once the scavenger hunts are in place and the first person finds a precursor what keeps the world from getting the same precursor much like it was when the Moa Chick scavenger hunt was finally solved? Is this just the end of the precursor difficulty?
They can’t stop that from happening unless they make the scavenger hunt unique to every single person who plays the game which I think is fairly impossible.
They could make each step in the process have say…5 different possibilities for players. But people will still figure out all the possibilities for each step.
At the end we’ll probably be given a precursor token and we’ll get to choose one we want.
My question is, will we be able to repeat it for those that are going for more than 1 legendary?
I am, and as @Lifelike said, seems GW1 players don’t like it at all.
I love to aim for new stuff from time to time.
I played the hell out of GW1 and I like these new additions to t he game. The fractals are quite fun.
Funny how People thought anet would give everyone a precursor for free.. with better droprate and better buildchance in the forge the precursors will cost less for sure, but i don’t think they will cost less then 200 Gold, the Greatswords maybe even 300, its not ANETs Fault everyone wants a Greatsword.
Well it kinda is considering greatsword can be used by more class than not.
Yestarday night straight after patch >>100 rares combines << 10 exos in return.
Today morning >>100 rares combines<< 4 exos in return? LOL
No way ahahah. Never ever before i had anyway near this awful drop rating.
We being kittened i tell youPrecursors will be harder to acquire at this rate, lucky who got them cheaper cause of the rumours about ‘’easier to acquire after patch’’..
Sigh
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they placed their decimal point in the wrong spot. lol
So you get killed be someone who turtles and ofcourse it’s Anet fault… it’s not that difficult to kill a turtle. i really hope Anet won’t do anything stupid i like it the way it is atm.
It is Anets fault because they put the design restrictions in place to make it possible.
And just a fair question, what would you nerf in the warrior class as it is?
Something that won’t make all players shelve the class for indefinite amount of time?
And a slight buff to longbow damage that maybe 1 in 50 warriors use is game breaking some how?
Just about as exciting as I am about the buff to Evasive Arcana!
No, seriously, I logged in today and I though what I was gonna do.
A dungeon maybe? Yes, but that’d be pointless thanks to the gear change.
Work on my build? Well, I’m not really into it just yet after the change. Still grieving.
File a bug report? Did that instantly, but still have nothing to do.
Get more stuff for my legendary? Yeah, well the ‘new more excitin way to get the precursor’ runed out to be a slight increase in Mystic Forge droprate. To be perfectly honest, I just couldn’t do it. At the moment, there’s nothing that excites me about Guild Wars 2. I ended up quitting and booting up Sibelius to work on my music.
I sincerely hope I’ll get the good feelings back. Somehow, this patch just made me very miserable about the game and I really, really don’t want that to happen. But it still did…
The MF proc chance for precursors has nothing to do with the scavenger hunt. They made it pretty clear it wouldn’t be in this patch.
More people just completely over reacting when they don’t even know what they’re complaining about.
Massive grind? So you know the future? You know how we’re going to obtain the armors when they’re actually released?
I’d be really curious to know how you know it’s a massive grind because Anet hasn’t released any of those details just yet.
They are supposed to bridge the gap between the “easy” to get exotics and legendaries in term of grind time needed. Of course it’s going to be massive.
On top of it, it seems the only source of ascended ring drops we’ll get for now it random chance in the new instance. Enjoy looting your 15th magic find ascended ring while still waiting for the one with the stats you want.
I’m not doubting what you’re saying because I don’t know for a fact like you seem to so I’m asking how you know the rings only have a random chance to drop? Considering no one has actually done the dungeon yet.
Besides that, as long as they can be salvaged I couldn’t care less.
(edited by fellyn.5083)
How is it a stat advantage if everyone can get it? That makes absolutely no sense and is pretty much the worst argument you can come up with against having these changes. Especially considering we don’t even know how we’ll get the armor.
Giving in to fears based on pure speculation and assumptions.
It’s a massive stat advantage above those that don’t do that massive grind. Grind >>> skill now it’s official :o

I tried hard to like the new FoV when it was being beta tested the past few weeks and just couldn’t. Glad we can still switch back; hope it remains supported.
Well that’s 2 of us. I was freaking out because I thought I was the only person. How could that be? 1 person out of all these people that noticed it?
I posted the switch in LA if anyone was interested (Emhry Bay). After I explained what that was for, the few people that talked about it didn’t seem interested.
At any rate, if this was all about zooming, I don’t understand why we just didn’t get a few more ‘notches’ in the zooms? Even at the old setting, I’d honestly still like a setting ‘between’ totally zoomed in and one notch back. Or lots of finer clicks.
There are lots of examples in other games. TSW stands out in my mind. Each click is a very ‘small’ movement, so you can really fine tune where you want that camera. Here, there are only 6 notches out from totally zoomed in. That’s it. Each one takes you out a hefty chunk.
Oh well, I digress. Beggars and choosers and all that. I’m ‘really’ happy to get such a quick solution to the problem!
FoV has nothing to do with zooming.
Because it’s not a gear treadmill. Yet. It’s one additional tier of equipment. Wait until next time if it happens again to react.
nope.
this IS a gear treadmill, that IS what they’re adding, and they’ve SAID that’s what they’re doing — but they’ve been insistent that it’s not a gear treadmill, because that’s a nasty word. We’ll just call it continual progression via equipment upgrades.
There’s no reason for me to wait around and still play this game until they add another tier and I’m proven right. I’ll just get out now before I have too much time invested in this game.
The menu very clearly and proudly stated no pickles. The restaurant very clearly advertised themselves as pickle-free. Two days after opening it, and after hearing a few people wander in and complain that there were no pickles — and despite a large crowd enjoying the pickle-free atmosphere — they’ve decided to add pickles.
Well I’m allergic to pickles.
The rest of you can suffer through this garbage alone. Gear progression is 100% derpmode gameplay.
So why keep posting on the forums then? You’ve said nothing new and made your intentions clear.
No, saying you’re going to quit and Anet are baby killers and all the other nonsense people are saying when they haven’t tried it is over reacting.
No, it’s just a massive grind for an insane stat advantage. Nothing to worry about!

I’m just excited for new game content.
What’s there to try about it? I’m familiar with the concept of a gear treadmill, of mudflation, of tiered content. I don’t like that garbage. Why should I try it? Every other MMO out there right now has that stuff. I already know I don’t want it or like it. That’s why I bought a game that told me there wouldn’t ever be this kitten.
I’m sure the new content is fun to play, but I’m not going to do it, because I’m not a hamster and I’m not getting in that wheel. That is not fun for me and so I won’t do it — and because that’s how the game is going to play out, I won’t play it, either. Never again will I put myself in a position where I need to eternally chase after gear. If you’re going to do that, might as well remove the level cap and continue stat increases on level-up — after all you’d be getting ‘rewarded’ for time spent playing the game, and that’s all this gear bullkitten is anyway.
And then, years from now, whoever is the most skillful at the game wins!*
*skill determined entirely by hours logged on the account.
Because it’s not a gear treadmill. Yet. It’s one additional tier of equipment. Wait until next time if it happens again to react.
I’ve played GW1 since release and Anet has done alright in my book, since then. I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they know what they are doing right now.
They made a lot of controversial changes to that game that had just as many people (GW1 in it’s prime had a 5mil+ player base) saying they’d quit over them. But in the end it all worked out and I think we can all agree GW1 was and still is an amazing game.
They see the big picture, we don’t. So until it’s all revealed I’ll keep my negative criticism in check and continue enjoying the game for the time being.
I agree but it’s not so much that they’re being buffed, but rather that they’re being given any attention at all when the other 7 professions all have higher priority bugs that need fixing.
Did you see the list of fixes and buffs for necros? No? Perhaps you were looking at the wrong page then.
Yeah, it would be nice if some one could clarify exactly what they mean by that. Playing all night with an axe and I didn’t really notice anything different with it.
I’m excited for the ascended stuff. Looking forward to it.

2 weeks ago we were matched with CD. Their best tactic against us was massive zergs as well.
I’m excited for the ascended stuff. Looking forward to it.
People still completely over reacting.
No significant Warrior changes at all. Patch after patch we get completely ignored.
Well, just be glad you don’t play a ranger
Why? I see several buffs for rangers in the notes. Besides that, this is the warrior thread, in case you didn’t notice.
I would also like to know how, “The mighty Zommoros has slightly increased the drop rate on Legendary precursor weapons from the Mystic Forge from both Rares and Exotics.” = scavenger hunt.
Unless they intentionally left out a mention of the scavenger hunt in the patch notes, and the increased drop rate in the forge is in addition to the scavenger hunt.
What happened to the promised precursor by going through scavenger hunting?
They said that would be coming in the future. Not in the next update (the patch we got today).
They did exactly what I said they’d do in this patch and that was to increase drop rates from MF.
May i know what is the vocal majority if aproximately 8 in 10 disagrees with this change?
Another person who has managed to ask every single person who plays the game their opinion on the comings changes and doesn’t base their numbers just on people who are post on the forums.
Also as an off-peak guild member – I’d like to express we’ve had nothing to do all day/evening…
This weeks win is primarily down to the peak-time forces being outclassed by FA. It’s not what everyone will want to hear but it’s factual.
If by outclassed you mean out zerged, then yeah..

. I hate dungeons. It would have nice to acknowledge the near universal disgust at the gear grind.
