Your spec should be able to get more than 5-15fps. Where are you measuring?

Whats your CPU/GPU load, clock speed and temps? GPU bus running at right speed?

try the -image command or you can try re-installing from scratch

opendns 208.67.222.222 works too. I use google as fallback dns.

Performance varies for everyone. Try http://code.google.com/p/namebench/ to find the best dns for your current location.

I was watching it. it was 99% @ 592MB with one file left remaining. It completed and was able to get in game. Probably about 600MB to make it look even and nice.

I completed the 600MB patch with avg 600-900KB/s pretty fast about 20minutes.

63% 443MB now so yea its off #’s of files not total mb

Actually the % isn’t off MB downloaded. It looks like its off # of files download out of the total. So I guess we can’t guess how big it will be.

32% 355MB so far.

All would be reflection off objects and players etc; subtle difference. Terrain and sky would just be the environment most noticeable looking at water etc.

prime95 only tested the CPU in a certain aspect. Try running all the other tools at the same time for a few hours.

if you read through their comments they said they were working on it. They even explained a solution to the problem but weren’t good enough for the time they needed to invest in programming it. So they are working on a better solution. When? until its ready. Kinda like asking when will scientist find the cure for X disease. Can’t put a exact time on that kind of thing.

Most likely you are using integrated graphics and it is below the minimum requirement to run.

nv4_mini.sys that looks like graphic driver issues. Updated to latest version?

Might be an issue with whatever keyboard you are using.

Lookup key blocking or phantom key blocking issues.

Did you install anything else after a fresh windows 7 installation. Something might be interfering. Antivirus maybe?

So you have this issue with two desktop PC now. Even after getting a new PC with fresh windows 7 installation its starting to look like something at your router.

Don’t see anything wrong with using battleping its like a VPN geared towards gaming for latency concerns.

BSOD usually indicate some sort of driver issues. Whats the error code do you get? Gives a hint where to start troubleshooting.

can you reproduce the crashes using prime95, occt, furmarks and 3dmarks test for prolong periods?

IF your windows 7 installation is going corrupt. Thats something wrong outside of GW2’s control.

Just upgrade to 64bit and buy more ram. They are cheap now. 8GB is like 25 bucks.

GW2 relies a lot on single thread performance. Buy the best CPU you can afford on that list starting from the top going down.

AMD 8120 – 1234 score

You might not run background processes explicitly , but there are tons of them there.
Look at task manager. Everything you install usually tend to load background task/service/processes. Windows alone will have dozens of stuff running in the background.

When you set graphics to max settings it will use more textures etc which eats up more ram. Since your system is low on ram it will crash eventually. You have 3.25 usable, that doesn’t mean its free available ram for gw2 to use. Yes, GW2 will start out using less ram and eventually as you play more things are loaded to the point where you will crash running out of memory.

What are you specs for your new PC. Check your internet connection and/or firewall rules etc on the PC and router?

updated your chipset drivers? Test your ram?

I assume you have 32bit OS which is why you only have 3.25 GB usable. With windows and other background apps likely you are below 2GB free ram which will cause you to crash eventually.

• get more ram
• upgrade 64bit
• disable background processes/applications.

Long stickied thread on Error7 issues. Maybe read through those.

Instead of saying “I’ve tried everything” List what you have actually tried doing to troubleshoot.

You can see your internet activity in windows task manager – networking tab. Use resource monitor to get more detailed traffic by application.

Checked your internet connection is stable?

Are you in heavily populated areas? (Read Q11 on culling issues)

Troubleshooting is trying things to see if it fixes your issue and observing what happens. You can’t troubleshoot if you don’t touch stuff.

Another thing you fail to realize is Windows is your Operating System. It has everything to do with system stability. SP1 as Squall said might have undocumented fixes for such things.

Update to SP1 if the problem is still there then move on to something else. It’s not gonna make it harder to find the problem. Make an image of your system if you are that obsessed with keeping system state.

Assuming you got your drivers etc up to date, what other option do you have but try SP1? That or go buy a new audio card?

(btw, your audio driver is from 2009. Guess you shouldn’t try updating it because it will change the state of your system)

Both of your CPU and GPU are weak.

But your GT220M is very weak. It is about the same level as intel’s HD 3000 GPU which is the bare minimum requirement for GW2.

I have a Core2 Q6600 overclocked to 3.2 and its able to get 40-60FPS in normal PVE questing.

You’re having issues just install SP1, you have nothing to lose and only benefits to gain whether it be now or down the road. Another item to check off that you tried to troubleshoot.

Devs have commented on performance issues & optimization (see Q11 of this thread)

Mods have said they don’t set a date for these things because its work in progress and people will be furious when the timeline isn’t met.

Gotta overclock the Q6600 like i did to 3.2Ghz. Paired with a decent GPU you can run 40-60fps PVE/PVP fine. Its only heavy WvW where its gets crippled.

Lots of guide/videos on reapplying thermal grease or compound. Google it. (example)

Basically…

• unscrew the heatsink. pop it off.
• clean old thermal compound off
• put about a rice size amount of new thermal compound on the GPU
• put the heatsink back on.

• check for dust on your GPU’s heatsink and fan. See if your fan is actually even working.
• ensure good case airflow
• last resort you can re-apply thermal grease on the GPU/Heatsink

100º C is way too high for a videocard.

is “video input loss” the default message your monitor says when it looses physical connection?

tried playing the game in windowed mode?
