The living story is ok if you enjoy the open world boss.

I think the problem is there are people dont’ enjoying it.

And since the 2 boss is the focus of this living story, if they dont’ enjoy it, they find it lackster.

Someone got shot in my neighborhood, and the policeman decided not to catch the gun shooter because it’s is too dangerous.

When ask the policeman why he didn’t do anything he said it’s the civilians own fault that the neighborhood is too dangerous.

Yes, if no one want to do Tequatl on your server it is not Anet’s fault. It is the fault of players on your server.

I’m sorry to hear someone got shot in your neighborhood. If it’s too dangerous, you should move.

I totally get it why you always blame the players instead of Anet now.

Not everyone have the luxury to move to better country or even better neighborhood. And the neighborhood I mean here means place in the country is too dangerous.

You have to admit, if you exclude the 2 boss fight. The amount of content is much less than the previous living story.

But the amount of story (which the OP complained about) is more than most other Living Story chapters.

Ok, I think you are thinking literally about the “story”. I think the OP means beside the 2 open world boss, the amount of content(which can be finish in 2 minutes) isn’t enough to keep people busy(if they dont’ want to do the open world boss).

And dont’ tell me grinding core is content. I think he mean interesting content.

And by the look of people still doing tequalt. I think there are quite a bit of people not that fond of the open world boss.

So little story has occurred in this game that a few conversation points does not constitute as an amazing story update. Can’t blame the guy for being bored.

The OP does however seem to either completely ignore (or might be unaware of) the fact that there are much more than two boss-fights in the update.

Maybe I’m missing something. All I found is an instance story in lion’s arch. And Scarlet lair(which I havn’t been to), only read on the forum.

You have to admit, if you exclude the 2 boss fight. The amount of content is much less than the previous living story.

If items in black lion company are permanent, this will be a none issue. Which is the best solution.

Unfortunately Anet probably believes(which is probably right) making items temporary will urge people to spend asap and they can keep continuing to release items and repeat the cycle.

I’m not sure what the topic is about.

If you are kittened because you invest a bunch in to dye and it won’t go up in price, there’s nothing more I can say.

It don’t destroy anything(economy). Just some speculator not making profit.

BTW I invest “alot” and believe me, I mean “alot” in this dyes. I can say I’m not happy but I don’t see anything wrong.

I think it’s quite obvious the dyes are coming back. The question is just when. It came back before, it’s obvious it’ll come back again.

What I think is wrong is those black lion trading items should be permanent. But I think the market strategy is Anet want to give this urge feel so people’ll spend as soon as possible.

I think you should take a game for what it is and not for what it’s not.

And another thing, there’d be no point to suggestions, ideas, updates, or expansions if everyone just “took the game for what it is.”

It’s perfectly fine what you are doing.

I just don’t think you should expect too much.

Besides you don’t have to worry about everyone look the other way. This kind of topic have already been brought up and all the suggestion here have been talked about before.

Most of the times you’ll just quit before anything is changed, if anything ever changed.

Me personally, I really like some of the living story. Only if those are replayable. I hope they make the open world raid boss reward better for failing. The open world raid focus too heavy on if you get to the “good” instance. People might actually bother to just do them and have fun and not wait for one hour taxi into coordinate groups. Solo dungeon instance is also a good idea. Quite honestly GW2 have some of the best solo combat system(it just dont’ work too well for groups).

The dungeon is quite tough for beginners. Not necessary because of the scaling. But it is tough for unexpeirenced players.

If you intend to finish your map completion. It is a good idea to focus on that at low level. Since you gain level while explore at the same time.

AC story is the first dungeon. It isn’t hard. But the main problem is the reward isn’t as good as the explorable dungeon(which most people do).

I don’t get the logic behind being opposed to instanced Raid, it would fix all, if not most of the problems mentioned in my initial post, how exactly are you gonna be left behind if content is raid instanced? You can still find casual-minded people (if casuals fear being left out).

Not all upcoming content has to be instanced, as I said, I’m for BOTH types of content, all the simple open boss content still available can still remain in place intact.

A bunch of people are against instanced raid not necessary because they think open world is better.

They have the mentality other people are having fun, when they are left out of the party.

It’s kind of like the guild mission dilema. All those small guild can join multiple guild right? But they kept complaining and whining their guild isn’t big enough to do guild mission.

Just read through this post. “There are actually people enjoying it”.

Personally I think open world raid is BS. I dont’ know why people enjoy it. Many people felt the same way with me and you.

But that dont’ mean “no one” likes it. It’s probably half and half the way I see it base on forum post.

Many people are strongly against instanced raid. I think that’s the main problem. I rather Anet just work on something else instead of this open raid thing.

I dont’ think it’s even an economy problem.

It’s just the way the game is designed. They made legendary equipment rediculously difficult to obtain because it is probably the last gear you’ll ever need.

Other mmorpg push out new gear tier every say half years. So they never need to worry about people having no goals to achieve.

And the game have a strong focus on gathering material to get the gear you want. So every monster mobs drops a bunch of material. While other game focus on gaining gear from dungeons or raid or pvp.

Also GW2 made their game “so affordable” and without P2W, Anet have to at least try to make money from some where. Hence I do see them try to push their cashshop or at least trying to make people buy gold a bit.

I think that’s completely understandable. Because if people actually played other games, they’ll know how generous Anet is. Some of those freemium games even push their cashshop more.

^ I think that’s a perfect example of what’s wrong.

You are expecting like 2000 token for a full set of ascended gear when the sheer grind require to craft ascended is much larger than that.

2000 tokens and 400k karma covers like 10% of the requirement to crafting ascended gear. (you need empyreal crystals and crafting also require karma)

Seriously, do you think clicking a few button to level crafting to 500 is hard? That part take less than 1 hour. It’s the sheer amount of material required that is hard.

The numbers were just an example. Anyway, everything necessary to ascended crafting (apart from skill points) can be outright bought with gold, if Im not mistaken. All you need to do is follow the champ train spamming skill 1. Or you can play the TP (but in this case you would still need the skill points – not that they are hard to get though).

You need those empyreal fragement, dragonite ore etc. You also need karma. You can’t buy those.

Nothing is hard. Just time consuming.

That’s why your number is absurd. I didn’t check but you already are require to do a bunch of dungeons and requrie a bunch of karma. What you write down is like 10% of the material already required to craft ascended gear.

I dont’ know how they can make it fair, because the sheer amount of gold and material that is required to craft ascended gear.

People can level 8 pression to 400 in 3 hours. So the crafting part isn’t even the focus.

The focus is sheer amount of gold and material you need to gather.

If they make the amount of bades or honor or laurels or glory too large, people are just going to whine anyway.

No trust me its perfectly fair that i have to grind for hours daily giving my gold to you in order to play fractals and www while you sit on your pc making 100X what i do without even logging the game….

Perfectly fine….

You are helping the game you should be proud…..

And is it perfectly fair that your gold rate through fractals/wvw is much higher than players who choose to make money through gathering or even map exploration?

Why don’t we nerf your method down to that level?

Did you read when i said cutting few trees gives more money that the most difficult istance in the game?

And for your info ANY profitable source of gold in the game was nerfed since release…

All but the TP, the no risk free pvp minigame that gives 10-100X rewards of anything else in the game at the cost of people who doesn t want to participate.

That is what is wrong….

The TP has no risk?

Yeah I’m just gonna give up.

Should we deny that the risk is so little that you need to do it on purpose if you want to lose money?

Tell me how many people using frequently the TP for profit do you know losing moneys?

Except the newbies investing in gossamer (and everyone knew it was a bad move) i don t know anyone…….

Why don’t you do it then?

Well I’m doing it.

I think the problem is they made it too easy to make money from investing.

Due to all the limit event item and the enourmous amount of material needed for crafting/legendary, so anytime new information is released people horde items.

I try to make money from TP/AH in every game I play. I have to say this game made investing so easy. Almost all investment will go up in price.

Yes I loss money from investment also. It is just very rare. I hope real life stock market can be this easy.

Once the new buy orders are established they retract their botted prices and recoup their costs, thus raising the floor for said items. I hope Anet looks into these botting accounts.

Putting in buy orders for 1c doesnt establish a new highest buy order.

I think people should be smart enough to know those buy order are meanless. Because of all the “1c” bid. But apparently many people dont’ realize it.

Economy at its finest….
What about making prestigious items tied to skill rather than gold and tp flipping?

I think there should be more desirable items that are outside of the TP – that’s the real solution in my opinion, not trying to adjust the TP so players can’t get rich.

Skilled player should be rich and not tp barons at the expenses of skilled players…..

People can be skilled in the TP. It’s not the easy “oh that item let’s flip that!” as you think it is.

I think that’s the problem. I thought it’s a game of roll playing, kill monster, doing dungeon, structure pvp, and realm vs realm…

But let me tell you the cold hard reality. The reality in this example is, that this year, there are only enough precursors in circulation for 10% of the players. So 90% WILL NOT GET ANY THIS YEAR, no matter how hard they try. Only the richest 10% of the people will be able to purchase them off the trading post.

Throughout the year, the average income of players likely went up, as players learned to play more effectively and earn more gold per hour. But this increase in income is global. So if you’re joe average, it will not be enough. To have enough gold for the precursor, you need to be in the top 10%. So either you have to farm 80 hours per week or you need to adopt clever ways of making gold. Playing the game the way that 90% of the people do, is simply not good enough.

I think this makes a good point and snipped it out from the rest of your post for the tl;dr folks

I fail to see the point. Maybe the problem is the ultra low drop rates.

Or making ways to actually acquire the item such as “precursor hunt”.

People just like to use “free market” as big word.

When the reality is it is purposely design this way so people have “boring grindy content to do”. Since having boring grindy content is better than people quiting because they have no goals. Or they just design it so certain people will buy gems for cash.

Like I said a bunch of times, there is a 1000+ mmorpg out there, all with free market. Their economy isn’t like that in GW2.

Precursor is just designed that way, so people have things to do, because unlike other game, they dont’ release new dungeon and raids and gear tiers every few month.

I don’t even have a problem with precursor. My main problem is there is too much “investing” in this game. It is too easy to speculate on item that will went up in price due to limit event item, and too much emphsize on crafting/legendary (which require enourmous amount of material)
