To be fair, CM was way easier than AC by far on top of being overly rewarding.

Armor sets are way too expensive and the way you get them is the most grindy thing in this game by far.

I don’t agree with 1) at all given that the amount of farming required to get all the loot is totally ludicrous to sit down and punish people for taking the path of least resistance to tokens when over a thousand are needed for a full set and you get a measly 30 per run maximum.

Can we make it beneficial to run different ends of the dungeon instead of punish people for farming the same one? The problem here is that two are not rewarding enough, not that one is too rewarding.

Also; just so you’re aware, posting about this on the forums does absolutely nothing to resolve your problem.

I know they said something like they are grinding out their patch note process, and really, without sounding pretentious, it would be great if they would look to Blizzard patch notes for a model of what to aim for. I dislike the lack of real information in patch notes and also that patch notes are not available on the patch client.

Unlocking of Reserved Character Names

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

Can confirm that the names are still reserved; I had a character on a GW1 trial account that I created recently. I was getting the same error until I figured out how to sync my accounts.

Would like to see ANet comments on this since I do also recall them saying they were only going to be reserved for the first day, and while I understand there were issues with account syncing at launch, 3 weeks is a very long time for this issue.

How many times are you guys dieing in dungeons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

lethlora.1320

If their repair bill is super high in dungeons then they’re simply not doing it right. Even in a very difficult dungeon, you don’t get a high repair bill unless your entire group is wiping constantly, and if that’s happening, then the content simply isn’t being approached correctly.

I don’t die that often in an average dungeon.

Gaming: Hobby or Addiction?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

lethlora.1320

It’s only an addiction if you have absolutely nothing else to do with your time. I played WoW pretty hardcore through most of high school; now even though I enjoy this game quite a lot, I simply have other commitments (work, boyfriend.) I don’t have anything over 42.

Though, to be fair, I have pretty serious altoholism.

There’s also other games that I’m interested in playing, but really, it’s not like GW2 is going anywhere and I don’t feel obligated to get my $15 worth because it’s not being paid.

This is not good communication with players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

They aren’t communicative about bugs, however, because they throw a wide and thick veil of censorship over “exploit.” Because of this, people such as the OP who were playing a dungeon can be labeled (or worse, banned) as exploiters and never even know what it was they were exploiting just because they were playing the game and were unaware of what was considered an exploit. Because the forums are so strictly moderated, it is pretty difficult to get information or what it even was that you were in danger of being penalized for.

I get the reasoning for ANet wanting to be hypervigilant about the moderation of their forums due to the violent tendencies of MMO forums, but hypervigilance is hypervigilance and it seems to be like it risks going overboard in several places.

A problem with their patch notes is they don’t list what bugs are, only changes (here’s looking at the prestige.) If something was bugged in CoF, it needs to be written in the patch notes as a bug. As others have stated, failing to do so (and then deleting topics seeking information on the subject because it was labeled “exploit”) is poor communication, which is all the OP was saying, as far as I could tell. It is worse yet to seek to punish those for seeking information about bugs that were already fixed.

Thief stealth

in Suggestions

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

Thieves have many ways to obtain stealth, but they have a cooldown on how often they can stealth. Unless they’re popping Shadow Refuge and standing in it (a welcome target for any attack since they are confined to a small circle,) they can’t stealth for longer than 3-4 seconds. The stealth cooldown also lasts about 3-4 seconds.

Thieves focusing heavily on stealth are generally foregoing a lot of raw survivability tools to have those options. Keep in mind that Thieves are not immune to damage while stealthed and performing any action besides rolling breaks stealth. Even hitting 1 near them will hurt them even though you can’t see it.

I’d suggest trying a Thief before making misinformed statements about them.

Object "hitboxes"

in Suggestions

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

A lot of objects in this game (ones that need to be destroyed for hearts, for instance) have really, really annoying “hit boxes”. It’s really unfun to try and figure out where I’m supposed to be hitting things, and running around getting a string of misses while trying to figure out where I’m supposed to hit stuff just feels really gross when it’s a vast majority of objects that are like this and not just a few.

Is this ever going to get looked at? It’s pretty bad when I can’t figure out where to hit something with my greatsword, much less when I’m playing my thief and trying to figure it out with tiny little daggers. This really shouldn’t be an issue. ):

Where is GW2 headed?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

The really big tl;dr with these arguments is that GW2 wants to be more a game and less an MMO, hardcore WoW players who are playing GW2 wanting an MMO and aren’t getting one, hardcore WoW players get really loud on the forums and we have 8,000 topics about the same thing that have a really, really simple answer.

GW2’s guns from the start have been to do something different with the MMO industry and they have stuck to them the entire way through its heavily advertised development.

I really wish moderators would consolidate these topics because it’s kind of annoying having them pop up all over the place.

Carrots on Sticks. Om Nom.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

The issue is that simply that the game is advertised as an MMO and an MMO is deeply associated with having a carrot. Really, though, I personally associate subscription fees with carrots more closely than MMOs. Because this game doesn’t have sub fees, I have lower expectations because they aren’t extorting money out of me monthly.

They are going to make new content, it just isn’t evident because the game just launched and there’s much to fix before content can be heavily focused on.

I have seen it in other games and it’s sort of lame, yes.

Frustrations over lack of endgame

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

As someone who does not have time to sit around and play this game for hours at a time and as someone who used to, I have to say that it is a little silly to act like this is a serious issue when the ones who have powered hardcore through the content are not the average player whatsoever.

Also resonating on the fact that they have been very transparent about their vision for the end-game. Walking into the experience uninformed is only making the complaints disproportionately louder than the issue is significant. As the OP stated, they were shocked when they finally heard.

I’ll not suffer the idea that the “end game” content is perfect in any way, but those who were expecting a typical MMO end-game are now crying much more loudly about it than is reasonable because they were misinformed.

This game needs PvP Arena

in Suggestions

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

Also agreeing that arenas could easily be detrimental to the game by creating highly situational balance issues that impact the rest of the game negatively. It’s one thing to nerf something that generally is overpowered and another to nerf something only because it is broken in a very specific environment (arena.)

“Put 4/6/whatever people in a box and watch ’em go at it” should not be a high priority.

Weapon coloring?

in Suggestions

lethlora.1320

strong argument for not including weapon dyes: “good enough”

the fact that associating pink with humiliation happened is pretty awful as well and should have no bearing whatsoever on whether or not people are able to sufficiently customize their characters as they see fit. colors on weapons can clash with the dyes you choose to use for your armor, and attempting to tailor weapons to match the colors of the armor only risks making all the weapons look homogenized.

Character size. Anyone have issues?

in Suggestions

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

My thoughts on this were that your character needs to be placed next to an average model and not eyeball it with a slider. Also, everyone making their characters as tall as possible also tends to put a damper on things.

As far as character sizes/puzzles goes, all characters (at least within their race/gender subset) have the same clip box regardless of what you do with the slider.

Do not add LFG Dungeon Finders

in Suggestions

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

I have no interest in seeing a cross server LFD tool in this game.

LFD does not change the quality of the player, no, but it does negatively influence people’s behavior, which is precisely what is wanting to be avoided. As others have stated, the anonymity that cross-server LFD tools bring encourages far too much negative behavior and I’ve no interest seeing it in this game. Primarily, it makes it too easy to decide a group sucks and bail and instantly get a new group, which is not something I want to see happen in every single group I’m in, something that isn’t unrealistic given the dungeons’ difficulty.

It doesn’t take that long to organize a group in this game, and as others have stated, sitting in the cities waiting for LFD pops would inevitably become the standard. I also find it a little funny that the comment about people being impatient, sarcastic, and vulgar is far more true than it should be.

That said, I would like an LFG channel to consolidate people seeking groups and removing noise from map chat. Also, dungeon rewards do cost a lot, but ANet’s intent is for every dungeon to be end-game content, essentially, so I’m unsure if any of it would change (it does feel awfully grindy, though, which is only contributing to the LFD problem.)

Health percentages

lethlora.1320

It would be nice to be able to see the health percentages of targets, especially for some classes like Thieves who do certain amounts of damage at certain percentages of health. Especially with the recent change to Heartseeker, eyeballing it is a bit of a chore to unlearn a value and relearn a new value rather than just seeing a number indicating what level of health they are actually at, removing the doubt.

Will the level cap rise / Will our gear become out-dated?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

So far as I could tell, there are no plans to gear treadmill as hardcore in GW2 as is typical for MMOs. Gear would become obsolete if they raised the level cap, sure, but it would not be on the level of “The new dungeon is out, congratulations, now you can go for the next big upgrade! See you in a month!” that is in, say, WoW (implying they update that quickly, which is hardly the case.) The best gear statistically is pretty easy to get all things considered, so raising the level cap isn’t really a big deal in that regard.

Downed: Is there imbalance between professions?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

I feel there is definitely some blatant imbalance between downed states in terms of to what the player has access to stay alive in PvP.

A warrior, for a mild example, is able to interrupt a single assailant while downed. If there are more than one, however, a warrior can do nothing to prevent being finished off immediately.

A thief, however, can interrupt all assailants by teleporting out of range of their finisher.

Some classes do not even have the option of creating some sort of distracted in the crucial first seconds, as stated, giving no access to their three while downed. Thieves can also keep attackers busy for a very long time with teleport -> invis -> teleport if timed properly. I do not believe any other class has this level of straight up harassment while downed.

Thieves have the most hilarious harrassment downed state in the game for PvP. I regularly see foes attempt to finish me three times before they finally get a chance to actually do it between teleporting and stealthing while downed.

Most classes are just totally useless “dohh you got me” stuff.

Though, yes, the trait isn’t very good for PvP.

I’m too unfamiliar with arenanet to know if they would nerf it, but it’d not be shocking. I would be a little sad though as it is fun to triumph over it.

Having a hard time targeting

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: lethlora.1320

lethlora.1320

Major issue in this game compared to others is that holding click to turn the camera will target players (or change targets in general) if the mouse is over a target when you start. Targeting needs to be the release of the mouse button to avoid this problem; it makes targeting extremely difficult in combat in a game where mobility and control of your camera is very crucial. I have many carmera/targeting issues during siege in WvW.
