Arise, opressed of Tyria!
First question?? what is your timezone and do you play on EU-servers or NA-servers??
I’m on the EU server Gandara and am very happy with PvE. I have a level 51 thief, but at the start off my evening she was level 46. I did lornar’s pass map completion and had company at almost all hearts. Then I changed to caledon forest. I disliked that map cause there are some hard parts. The skillpoints at the top left and to right corner. at the skillpoint at the top left i was instantly joined by a ranger who needed it too. The top right corner of the map has the issue with the champ krait, when i ran there he was 95% killed so he was gone soon to me to get the skillpoint.
The living story maps have zergs off people, but the other zones have more then enough people to do all content without the need to guest elsewhere.

I’m going to put it very blunt to you John. I would like to ask for some higher in the chain to come and comment (I would suggest Colin). The reason is that I am very angry bout this. If you check my history on this forum I’m what some would call a fanboy. I truly love this game and I have always been on the barricade for you. But when it comes to nerfing the grind you are taking a wrong path and I think its time you stop experimenting but come out and talk to us.
Lemme first give some background bout the situation. You are trying your best to bring out new and refreshing content. You want us to stay hooked to the game as much as we like to stay hooked. However, new content is faster played through then developped. So it is impossible to give us new and interesting content all the time. So you introduced other things to keep us happy. Grinds. That is the main purpose of a legendary, or cultural armor or.. etc.
Grinds are there to keep us hooked. When you put in grinds like this the people will start grinding. And yes I’m truly sorry, we might do it in a way you never intended or could imagined. But constantly nerfing grinds is not the way. I agree when it comes to certain farms it was a good plan too nerf it. This is because of all the flames in chat bout it. The best example was the temple off lyssa farm. Some people wanted to do the event, some wanted to not do the event so they could farm (gorilla’s if I remember correctly?). It leaded to verbal abuse in the map and it is good that that farm was nerfed. Others however have been plain old wrong. I refer to the rather popular penintent waypoint farm.
If you do not want us to farm, then do not add grinds to the game. As there is a grind needed for both off us, let us farm!!
Now, I think I can speak for all people here that if there are undesirable side effects to the current way we are farming, then we are all open to discuss alternatives. But constantly removing farms and using us as labrats to test new things out and then reverse it is wrong!
So I would ask you to reconsider this change for now, untill atleast a more permanent solution has been found.
1: revert this change as soon as possible!
2: put a query on the game logs and refund everyone that opened a champbag a small amount of extra silver to compensate for this wrong nerf.
The reason is that you messed up and you messed up big time. This nerf should have been announced atleast two weeks for introduction for those that stacked the bags. And the reason is that you have kitten ed us farmers off too many times allready with nerfs like this!
The second step is to open a dialogue. CD is an excellent tool, and I think that that should be used. Tell us what you have against the farms that havebeen nerfed over thepast. EWxplain your goals. Tell us bout your struggles in this matter.
Also listen to us, our complaints and our wishes. We don’t want a legendary for free, thrown in our lap after 3 hours of playing. It is no problem its hard. But don’t toy with us, and take our desire to farm serious.
So Colin, im sorry, I know you are a busy man, but please free up some time and take the first steps to a better solution. I dont ask you to finish it, but please show you take the community serious and are open to have a good solution!

First off all the topic being discussed is:

I’m going to put my thoughts in there. I think this is getting ridicilious

Keep Baubles
Keep wintersday stuff till wintersday. This Halloween was the first repeated seasonal content. Many recipes where changed. It might be that those items will not be used anymore, but it might also be that they will 10 times as valuable.
Gauntlettickets. They where easy to get and I have no reason to suspect that itz will be different if the gauntlet every returns. So destroy those.
Mia’s wig. Trash it (not even worth selling on the TP imo).
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Dulfy is right (as always). Also keep in mind that like many things, the map wont be refreshed when you have the map open, so keep opening and closing the map.
Spawning points I know off:
Queensdale: near krytan waypoint and near crossing waypoint.
Brisban wildlands: West off Wendon waypoint, west off Ulta Metamagicals Waypoint
Good Luck!

Not going to link it, but I wanted to see how big the Brazilian MMO community actually is so googled for ‘brazilian mmo players’. It only partly answered my question but it was funny to see that according to some people playing other famous MMO’s, brazilian players are (on average) lesser skilled players then others. I personally dont have a clue if that is true or not, but it made me smile cause I was looking for some support for my answer here.
It also partly answered it. The reason is that those threads are talking bout a recent (2012/2013) increase of people from Brazil playing MMO’s. So it seems that Brazilians don’t have a big mmo-histery or culture and only recently that has been starting to shift.
So hopefully the marketing department will see my limited google research and the +1’s in this thread and want to investigate. If it is true that brazil is an upcoming market it might be wise to invest in a Portuguese translation.

I don’t see how this would solve any issues with thoughness. People with a good amount of thoughness dont have to dodge as much, so why give them more endurance while they need it less??
The problem with defensive builds being inferior to dps builds is a lackoff balance.
The effectiveness off a thoughness build is measured per fight in a yes or no answer. ‘Yes’ you survived the fight (so the build was effective) or ‘no’ you lost the fight so the build was not effective. The outcome off course can be different for each and every fight.
For a dps-orientated build the effective is measured different: how long did it take to kill the dude?
The issue as we have it now is balance. With a DPS-orientated build you can easy have a fully effective defensive build. Cause no matter how much you invest in DPS, in 90% off the game you will survive, so have a good defensive build, while the offensive capacity increases significantly.
The solution is also simple. bring back the balance. Make it so that you can’t win with a pure 100% offensive build, make it a suicide build. Force people to invest in thoughnes/vitality/healing power. This will result in a situation where people will have to find their own balance. What your personal balance is depends on your personal skills, how quick areyou?? how good can you dodge/avoid damage. Very skilled players can go with Beserker gear and trraits, but need a protective runeset, while other players need to invest more in traits and/or armor stats. Also remove the thoughnes hate from foes (in PvE), but let them randomly pick on someone.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Courin, you are mistaken here.
Someone in London greenwich (the time zone for UTC) also has to deal with summer time/winter time while the UTC doesn’t change. We actually had it a week ago allready. Server time however keeps track with UTC (meaning that the difference between servertime and UTC is always the same).
also don’t see it that UTC is chosen for the daily rest cause it is UTC as in the universal main time. The reason is more likely more simple, it is a good time of day to do so.
Oceanic people are still in the late morning. European players are in they night and US players are in afternoon/early evening. So for no region its fully prime time.
Besides that everyone can check the much more convenient time till daily reset in the hero panel. I rather see that countdown as an alternative clock
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I’m going to be honest. I’m very much against server merging at this stage.
There are three important things going on.
The first is that the game is alive and still a lot of people playing. Not as much as during the initial peak, but still a lot.
The second is that server merging is bad advertisement. This is picked up by the press (and feeded by competition) as a sign off weakness. It results in people thinking the game is trash and result in less new people joining and even emptier servers.
The third is that some people like to be on a quit server. They are there and they don’t harm anyone. also the impression off a quit server is often wrong cause people are just doing different things. (a WvW server would often be empty in PvE and a PvE server is often emtpy in WvW).
That doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t be a solution for those on a small server and finding themselfes lonely. My suggestion to solve this all would be to have more dynamic transfer prices. The price for a transfer would depend on how often you get one. The base costst are actually higher then they are now, but if you played for a longer time (e.g. since start) and never had a server transfer you get a discount. on top off that, if your server population is dropping you also get a discount. This discount on discount can result in a situation that a server transfer can be farmed within several hours.

Welcome.
First off all there are two kinds of pvp. The first is an arena match of team versus team (sPvP), where you need to fullfill several tasks (capture the flag, obtain siegweapons, kill foes) these matches are short and in a small map.
The other is World versus World. This is a pvp/pve hybrid. It is being playedon 3 (soon 4) huge maps, where you have to fight npc’s and enemy’s from other servers. The task is too kill the enemy’s and capture forts and castles. This can be done in small skirmishes (1v1, or 4v5, or 1v3, or anything you encounter) oryou can join the big zerg (sometimes over 100 players in a single group running around and annihilating anything in the way untill they meet an enemy zerg that is bigger/more powerfull and destroys it).
As for classes. At the moment both warrior and thief are considered very good in WvW and good in sPvP. The warrior is considered a bit more off a easier class, while the thief is more challenging. To compare the playstyle:
Warrior: heavy armor, high dps. The can be good ranged, but the true power is when they are close up. it is a real hack and slash class.
Thief: medium armor, very high DPS. The lack off armor is made up by very high attacks, combined with heavy conditions. The strategy is to hit and run. you hit them, you hit them hard and then you get the hell out of there. To do the last they have stealth, allowing them to get out virutally undetected and also to sneak up to the unsuspecting enemy’s.
To compare, a warrior is a medieval knight where the thief is a ninja.
My advise is to start with sPvP and try both classes.
In both sPvP and WvW you are level 80, but in WvW your simply boosted up, but in sPvP you get full health, and power, combined with special pvp armor (all for free) and all stats, traits and skills unlocked. This makes it excellent to try the two classes out and see what playstyle you prefer.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
My first character to 80 was an engineer and I barely touch her. Not cause i dont enjoy her, but cause i enjoy my other characters as well. Being in the process off leveling a ranger, I would say that a ranger is not good for an alt after you did an engineer. Simply cause its too simular but in an inferior way. You can shoot arrows like you can shoot bullets from your riffle/pistol(s), your pet is a slightly better tank then your turrets, but you dont have the kits and prolly find it boring soon as a max level engineer.
My advise would be to either try guardian or elementalist. The reason is that both are very much fun and have the same odd ball feel as the engineer. On top off that they are both very different from each other and very different then the engineer, so it is challenging you.
Ele is a DPS-class but with great protective possibillity’s. the issue is staying alive, and building a really tanky ele that still dps a lot makes it both challenging, rewarding and versatile.
The guardian is a very protective class, with the challenge to make a balance between doing good damage and being helpfull. Reading a big fight and seeing when you need to help four fellow players with your awesome buffs and when you need to keep them for yourself is very much fun and interesting.

Use two special ranks. Lets say rank ‘monthly member’ and rank ‘absent member’. These ranks have the same rights and priveleges as the regular member rank.
All members are made a ‘monthly member’ at the first day of the month. As soon as they are online they are made a regular ‘member’ again.
When the month has passed, all members still ‘monthly member’ get the rank ‘absent member’ and an email. Again, if you see an ‘absent member’ online or when they reply to the email they are made a regular member again. Those that after yet another month are still ‘absent member’ have clearly be gone for 2 months and can be considered inactive.

Account suspended - a question of names!
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: mercury ranique.2170
Single players don’t get suspended for a disallowed guildname, but guilds get disbanded afaik.
The issue with copyrighted names is not that Anet wants all the Elronds, Harry Potters, etc to be suspended, but they need to do so IF anyone reports them for being a copy right violation. that is how the law is. The fact that I have a Silvari called Laiss Ranique (Laiss is Lotr elvish for tree) means I know I’m taking a risk. But bottom line is that IF there is a copyright complaint bout a characters name, they have to take action.
But we are all speculating.
My advise to you is to file a support ticket as soon as possible and simply ask them. If it is ‘Umrae’ that is the issue ask them to action all your accounts names and your account name itself at once. It happened that people had a theme like yours and got actioned several times with increasing account marks as a result. They have handled that in the past by actioning them all at once on the accountsowners request (resulting in only one accountmark).
If it is some other reason it will be clear to you as well when you got a response from support.
It can also be that support will answer you that they make a mistake and they reinstate you earlier.
It might be possible to bet able to login and change your character name before you got an answer from support. I strongly advise you to not do so if you don’t know what the reason was in the first place, but wait for support to answer you so you dont make the same mistake twice on accident.
Good luck

I think the only thing in this game that could be scary for young children are the risen which are essentially walking half decaying corpses I feel most of the rest of the game is pretty child friendly in the shock department. Sure people are dying but my little mario guy/lara croft died plenty when I was younger and I never thought it was overwhelming.
I think you are mistaken here. I have worked a lot with young kids and each and everyone is different. Kids dont have our perspective on the world yet.
Jostein Gaarder made an excellent way of explaining. Imagine, a familly with a young kid and dad in the kitchen sitting at the table and mum baking eggs (with her back too the table. Suddenly dad starts hoovering in the air and does a flip flop in the air. The kids reaction is that he starts clapping his hands and laughing bout it. It’s dad, so it must be safe and dad always does funny things. But when mum turns around she is terrified and drops everything. The reason is that mum learnt that people don’t flow in mid air. Kids are in the process off learning.
You can only imagine walking undead to be scary cause you have learned that walking undead are scary (thank you hollywood!). For a kid a rampaging golem or a giant spider can be as scary or even scarier. The thing is that you never know what is going to trigger fear at a child. Also it is different for each and everyone. Therefor my advise to only let them start playing when supervised. As a dad of mum, your presence alone helps in feeling more secure. Besides that when it happens it is a lot easier to have a talk with your kid straight away before the fear moment sets in and becomes a phoby.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
First off all, be aware that your technically breaking the user agreement. Account sharing is not allowed. Children are not an exception for this. However if it is not done structurally, I dont think Anet minds too much.
Also consider that the game is rated 12 years and older. These ratings are there for a reason. Even a mechanic like death can be overwhelming for kids. Often I heard lines like ‘my kid can handle it, he/she is so though’, but you never know what triggers a fear in a childs head and a kids sense of reality when experiencing fantasy is a lot less (so it’s much more real to them).
These two things combined I think specially for your oldest its ok to let him/her play when supervised by you, and only short periods. If he/she likes it you can get an account for him/her in lets say a year.

I’m sorry but you are a whiner.
I am a big defender of real life first. So I do understand what it is to have limited time. This does mean you can’t get everything done you want. Both in real life as in the game. However an MMO also knows players who dont have such an active life. They want challenges as well. There are plenty off good looking staves around that are available within your kind off playtime. But this one isn’t. Don’t envy what you dont have, envy what you got

A question asked was what gw1 lore related loose ends I would like to see and how.
First of all it doesnt have to be really big. The Theo Ashford connection was awesome. Specially how Logan calls him an old friend off the family (Logan is like the Ashfords of Ascalonian origins). For those who didn’t play GW1 it wasnt an issue and they likely totally miss the connection without realising what they are missing. But for GW1 veterans it was a very nice touch.
Just saying it doesnt have to be a full story-arch.
An example could be a new minidungeon. A durmand scholar founds a small hidden basement under fort trinity and asks you to investigate. Inside you find a necromancers room with among other attributes a letter. It is hard to read but it’s saying:
’
Dear V..K,
How is your work in Rat. .um going? A floa..ng cube?? I can’t imagine p.ople living there. But then ag.in your no human but an asur.n Elemen…ist. The best I h.ve ever met.
I have found Vizier Kh…….. staff. I think it has the abillity to harnas the power of the bloo..tone. I am going back to the caves and do some test. I wou.. ask yo. to join me but you have too m..h hist..y there. I write you soon.
L..ia
’
The priory person then sent you north to the bloodstone caves. After doing some tasks/fights to decent to the lower level we find the bloodstone where we find the necromancer Livia. She is hardly recognisable and clearly turned into a lich herself. during the fight the real Livia speaks out and tells her story after the letter. How the staff still was corrupted by the Vizier and how the power of the bloodstones reactivated that power and consumed her.
when defeated she returns to a ghostlike form and tells you that the only way to stop the Vizier for good is to destroy his staff like he is destroyed himself and asks for the staff.
On top off the bloodstone she breaks the staff on her knee, and with a big flash off light she dissapears. The bloodstone glowing bright white.
This is something I would really love to see happening. The whole thing would be scaled and open world, but a bit like the forsaken halls.

The general policy is that support cant assist in these matters. So yes it is likely you have to do it again with another character. Also in the description it is clearly saying it is used to create legendary weapons. Besides that you had to go through a verification process by typing the name out before you could destroy it.
How is support to know you did it by accident instead of on a moment that you didn’t think you would ever where going to get a legendary??
But, I’m not support and it is a hard to get item, so feel free to file a support ticket. Who knows they have ways afterall and an exception on the general policy.

How do I Buy GW2 (Heroic Edition) as a gift?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: mercury ranique.2170
The boxed version (like EB games) gives only the game. so without the extra’s in the heroic edition or the digital deluxe version.
The reason a boxed version is more expensive is cause.
a: the box/dvd/paper cost money too.
b: costs/profit for shipment and the reseller.
As far as I know you can indeed buy multiple serial codes with the same credit card and have them all sent to your emailadress. It is important you give the code away so they can make their own account and dont make an account for them and give the account details away. The last is against the user agreement and can cause an ownership dispute.
It is possible that when making multiple accounts a security issue arises. If you haveany trouble purchasing the game you can always file a support ticket, and I’m pretty sure they are very happy to assist you to buy their product
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
He just wants to be cheaper off when flipping. Short answer NO.
I have nothing against flippers. But I do have more respect for people who actually play the game. So making flipping easier cheaper would drive more people to the TP and away from actually playing the game.
Besides that. When listing something you need to pick a price thats realistic. if you dont you have to pay a penalty.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Hi Silent,
I disagree with both your options. I loved GW1 and I loved vanguishing. But I also love that this is an open world. A vanguish would only work in an instance and actually driving people away from the open world. The same goes for your second proposal. We need more people in the open world, not less!
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
It is not a big difference and it depends on a lot on how you play and what you prefer.
In dungeons both do well, though bezerker mesmers are more welcome in e.g. speedruns in CoF, though ele’s are better for general usage. On top of that mesmers are more pushed into specific builds (portal/feedback/timewarp).
As for WvW the tables are turned. Mesmers are slightly OP in 1v1 battles and can be used mroe for general purposes. While the ele is more effective inside a huge zerg (just AoE them all.
So it comes truly to playstyle and personal preferences imo.

looks like something went wrong. It can be a spam filter at your end (check those). Otherwise you can notify them bout this issue in the sticky

combining greens to make yellows is imo a waste off money, specially cause yellows are easy to come by.
The trick is to do these events: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chest#Qualifying_events
All these events will give you a pop-up chest with a garanteed yellow.
Besides that there is also a chest on the ground that often has one or more yellow weapons.
Make sure when savlaging you use either a black lion salvage or a master salvage kit (or a mystic salvage kit, wich is the same as master but with more uses).
The black lion salvagekit is the best, but cost either gems or have to drop by cheer luck from doing daily/monthlys
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Because they want you to use real money, but in the end the results are lackluster.
RNG boxes need to go, its getting insulting.
The reason that RNG boxes are still here is cause people ARE buying the keys. The law of supply and demand work here as well as with other things. People buy keys, so there is obviously a demand, so why stop selling??
What is insulting bout selling something people are buying. If nobody would buy them they would have been long gone from the shop. I don’t buy them, but I also dont envy the people who do nor the things that drop.

Fused weapons claim tickets are not available anymore. However, fused weapons are available at a black lion weapon specialist. You need for this 7 Black lion claim tickets.
These tickets can be bought for 10 Black Lion Claim Ticket Scrap. (so you need 70 in total)
These can be obtained by opening Black Lion Chests. Research so far indicates that the change of receiving a ticket scrap is 17% . This means you need to open an average of 412 black lion chests to get your fused weapon. Keep in mind this is an average and you might need a lot more.
There is however a 2% change off recieving a ticket directly from the chest. This change is 2%. You still need 7 off them.

ultra short answer: Yes
Longer answer. The continuation off the story in highlights is actually ready to roll out. At the moment there are no concrete plans to do so. The reason is that they are considering two ways of releasing it.
a: like a traditional expansion where we need to buy an expansion pack, combined with new zones, eaxtra character slots/bankslots and stuff like that.
b: For free as part off the living story.´The last has the preference but has two major issues. The first is the question wether or not the cashshop in the long term will give enough revenue to make it profitable (anet is not a non-profit organisation). The second is if the living story can be evolved to a point that it is possible to do so.
So there are plans to continue the story, but the way to present it is a matter of consideration.

I’m not going to spoil anything, but please go to Ebonhawke. locate the farm at the southwestern part of the town and attack the chickens there till they get ‘angry’
I do believe you mean this hidden gem
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Flame wall vs Ring of fire. Flame wall is ranged spell, Ring of fire is a pb AoE skills, like all melee skills they are more powerfull but requirers you to be in more danger. Lava font doesnt inflict burning condition.
Freezing gust is actually a better skill then frozen ground
Cold snap is again a pbAoE skill instead of a ranged ‘drop’.
The Focus is a ranged weapon. The goal is to do reasonable ranged damage from a reasonable safe distance. For pbAoE damage you have a perfect alternative called the dagger. Downside is that you have to be close to the foes but the positive is that you kill faster. I dont think that we need another DPS weapon. The game allready relies too much on DPS. We need it to be less interesting to do DPS and make it more rewarding to make defensive builds. This so DPS is a choice just as defensive builds are a choice. Bring them in balance by bringing them closer to each other instead of turning everything to DPS.
So I hate to say that I disagree with your suggestions
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
So … that means if I join any arah party with my friend, I’m unkickable ?
If if two members have a disconnect, you’re unable to kick either?
Or, you’re in a 4man party you can’t kick ? You have to invite someone to kick another, but then are stuck with the new unkickable guy?The current sstem is the best trade-off of advantages and disadvantages. Try to join dungeons (and be the bad, unkickable guy) or play with friends.
Trixie.7614:I think the majority of the party should decide if someone has to be kicked, not that guy and his friend.
If you have 4 members, 3 votes should be required. And yes, I would take the “1 guy and his friend are unkickable (and yet reportable)” then “1 guy and his friend kick everyone and leave unreported”.
I dont think you get the point here.
Say you are in Arah, path 4, and spent 3 hours off your time. 2 people dosconnect at the same time (a provider has issues and htey both use the same one).
Cause the team got that far you decide to wait for 5 minutes, they might get back. But alas they dont, you dont want to wait forever and want to kick them…… ow oops, they changed it, we cant kick with only 3 people in the team anymore.
Bottom line is: You are setting up gun detection ports at a high school cause one or two kids brought guns to the school. I say we just expell the few rotten apples.
So my suggestion stays. Anet, keep your own policy closer to your hard. As a community you can help as well. Let Anet know it is an issue. Report these peoples. Post a support ticket.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Many simular suggestions have been made and it is complicated.
On one hand it is never nice to be kicked I totally understand that. It is also mis-used by some, that should be taken care off.
The other side however is the right to play with who you want. Requiring a vote kick of 3 or 4 means pushing back such a fundamental right.
I have therefor a much different solution:
‘While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game.’ This quote is actually in the Rules of Conduct and therefor part of the user agreement.
My suggestion is that Anet punishes more often and more severe for people breaking this rule by misusing their right to play with who they want to not respect other people right to play and enjoy the game. So when people are misusing this to kick 3/5th off a party at the last boss in a dungeon, they should be suspended for 72 hours.
The rules allready gives them the possibiliity, they just have to start acting and the whole issue is solved pretty quick.

I think that there should be a more broader discussion bout gemprizes.
My suggestion would be to artificially letting the gemprize drop by adding more gems to the pool. This will change little to the amount off people buying gems and those who buy them to get gold will likely even buy more, but will bring balance back to the price off things.

Yes there is.
Go to the heart of the priory (skillpoint in the center). Around there are trapdoors in the floor (near the walls). When walking over one off them (If I remember right the one to the south) you get an option to enter.
It is also possible to get there before the mission. There are some very interesting books in the library

First off all im kinda irritated by some people using an arugment like 9/10 people here are saying this so you have to do so. This has been mentioned several times in different parts of the discussion. I want to ask everyone to stop that and speak for yourself. Try to argument for yourself why You think it is important, or you agree/disagree. Hiding behind opinion off others with half guessed numbers is imo less valiant. Also keep in mind that there are many players not reacting here. A known effect of forums like these is that mostly the negative opinions get in the spotlight. So using those kind of numbers is fraud to begin with.
As being asked what I liked most on the living story and what I liked least:
The most I liked Flame and frost and the least I liked tequatl rising/SAB.But I will go through all.
Also some people commented on my tips to use a more stretched out reward system (making rewards less depending on grind, but increasing rewards while you progress). Some said that a mini would be a bad reward and that something like marjory’s journal wast much better reward. The first reaction to that is that I agree, but seeing how many journals are now destroyed and the complaints in here and in LA when it was given shows that we are a minority. The second is that the mini is an example. The true message is that those who have limited time should get a limited reward instead of no reward and those with more time to grind get a more exclusive reward. This is regardless off what the reward actually is.
1: the lost shores: These where little baby steps and it failed big time. The only reason I dont name it as my least favourite is that you learned your lessons and mistakes here :P
2: Flame and Frost: Only one downpoint. It was way too much stretched out. I think this content should be released in a month (and the dungeon permanent). What I liked was the teasing with the refugees, the build up to the big reveal and the genuine surprise behind it when it was reveladed. The dungeon itself was pure fun and should have been permanent!
3: Secrets at southsun/laststand at southsun
The story was ok. The changes off Canach where a bit strange. Cause I was one off the people that had issues with lostshores due to the amount off lag and was really kitten ed off back then I had loads off trouble following this story. It is good that you learned from lost shores, but I do feel you should have used this to tell the story to those that missed it.
4: Dragon Bash/skypirates
All in all an ok update. I loved the dragon bash as the replacement for the dragonfestival in GW1. The arena was a lot off fun, the games where great. The song was awesome. So I hope Dragon bash will become an annual thing. The skypirates story that was woven into this was excellent done and the dungeon was fun. The only negative is that it was a temporary dungeon and that some elements where challenging but too annoying. This resulted in that I didn’t wanted to repeat it.
5: Bazaar/cuthroat: good story, nice new map (hoping to being able to revisit it), the politicians where a nice extra step.
6: SAB/Tequatl: First off all I love what you did with Teqautl. I hate SAB (though understand it should return cause it is loved by many). But communication should have been better. You should have made very clear that cause of a new crafting level, a dragon overhaul, and an overhaul off worldbosses you are unable to make a proper living story, but that it will continue in october. For me this was a lost month and the lack off communication made that very bitter!
7: TA/Halloween: I love halloween and I liked this one again like I always like the mad king story’s. But it also caused another break in the story. TA itself had limited story and it takes a long and challenging dungeon to reach the real story elements. although the dungeon itself is a lot off fun, for a living story this was very dissapointing.
8: Tower of nightmares: I just finished the meta and it is (hopefully) incomplete. So storywise I wont judge it yet. The tasks itself where a bit too grindy and some mechanics are poor (champs should have the polution effect from the start off the fight, the flames round it in kessex hills are terrible).

Almost everything you do in this game gives XP. So focussing on one or two things isnt enough to level in your starterzone. Besides exploring you need to level crafting, and gather mats a lot. However you can go to other starting area’s and epxlore there. You can even explore the 5 towns.

bikini: likely not going to happen. This was bathgear specially made for npc’s during southsun cove living story.
Sandals: not a clue
Staff: there is a previewcode for them, so it is likely it will be added soon

most farming is done in zergs or dungeons.
In zergs it doesnt matter at all what you are, as long as you can hit the enemy you get the loot. In dungeons you need a class that you can play well and fits you.
So bottom line, you don’t really have to solo farm in this game so pick a class that you like.

Hi Crixus,
Sadly enough account theft happens. The people behind it are organised criminals. Arenanet tries their best to stop them, but it is also up to you to help. The accounts that are stolen are almost always used in gold farming or selling gold to other players. For this they need a good amount off accounts. They target those that are least protected.
So it is very likely that you either had a very weak password or that your computers security has been compromised. This article explains a lot:

just a small addition to my earlier post. if people who dislike guilds still want to be able to get a commandertag it should be possible in a solo guild. The amount of guild wvw currency should be doable after a lot of time spent in WvW on a solo guild. I also recommended that guildtreks are being unlocked without merits needed (they are already way too boring for big guilds and can offer small guilds an easier way to access merits).
For a private guild it would mean that you could get a pve commander tag for a big amount of influence (roughly 400 gold) and a good amount of weekly guild treks (tier 1 and 2 guildtreks are doable for one person.

Allmost gemstore items are either
a: for looks (e.g. a skin you put over your existing armor)
b: a convenience (eg more room in your bank)
There are some things that makes you a better player (e.g. an armor booster), but these also drop from daily’s and from black lion chests (the keys to open these can be bought but also be rewarded ingame).
So no gems are needed to be awesome in this game, and if you feel the need to have some gems for convenience or looks you can always buy them with gold you farmed.

Also the gem cards are actually scratchcards with a code on them. these codes can be redeemed in game. Cause I dont have a creditcard/paypall account and dont have a physical reseller nearby I use an online service in my country where i can pay in a different way (its something dutch called Ideal and it makes me pay directly threw my bank account on the resellers bankaccount). They then sent me a scan off a gemcard they scratched open. (And yes it is a bit spooky, but so far they never tricked me and showed to be very trustworthy)
Bottom line is that you can do something similar. Get a gem gift card, scratch it open and give your brother in law the code as the present. You don’t even have to tell him how much gems he gets, that will be a nice surprise when he redeems it :P

I would like to see a split between commander types. Make pve-commanders separate from WvW commanders.
Step one: Refund all current commander badges. commanderstatus should be earned, not bought!
Step 2: add a new guild currency for WvW. A guild can earn this currency by capturing and holding forts/mines/camps in WvW (if claimed). If a guild runs boosters (WvW Fort +40 thoughness or things like that) they get more wvw currency. If they have enough a guildleader can buy a WvW commander tag for one off their members. This WvW commander tag is not accountbound or soulbound but only works when representing the guild it was bought for! This tag will be orange
For PvE a simular system exist. But here a tag cost influence and merits (im thinking bout 100 merits and 50k influence). Again this tag is not soulbound or accountbound, but can only be used when representing the guild who paid for it. This tag will be purple.
Result: You need a guild active in WvW to get a WvW tag and a guild active in PvE to get a pve tag. Due to the fact that it is challenging to get a tag for a guildmember, it is given to those that have a good amount of respect and trust within their guild.
Combined with the OP’s suggestions it would make the quality off the commanders better and also the possibillity’s they have.

If this is optional I dont have any objections to it.
However, using a third party add on to get this effect would be against the user agreement.
The reason is that the add-on would give you an unfair advantage and Anet decided that this is undesirable. As an option in the game it would be different cause everyone has access to such an option.
So dont use these kind of add ons, but do support this suggestion if you want this

Dont bump posts pls. It is a gainst the forum rules and is considered impolite to others.
I personally don’t believe in stationing characters. I just want to play the content I wanna play with the class I want. So can only say that I enjoyed Engineer the most out of your three picks.

I use a razor naga moba. This mouse has indeed 6 buttons under the thumb and it helps a lot. There are also with 9 buttons, but the skills 7,8 and 9 are lesser used and I like the layout (they are in a circles, making it easy to memorize where to bring your thumb while having your thumb in the middle when doing other things). The 6 buttons off course are used for the 5 weaponskills and the main healing skill.
The only downpart is that the mouse has a glowing razor logo udner the palm, this radiates some heat, I always have a lil bit off sweaty hands, and this makes it even worse. So far I havent found a way to put that glow off :P
