What I have seen is that almost all PvE-orientated servers do melandru very often. It’s actually one of the easiest temple events and very rewarding cause of that.

I don’t really get why commander should be bound to certain classes or builds. Only thing you need is tactical understanding. Since you’re running around in a zerg a single person/specc won’t make that much difference. I wouldn’t run GC though because it’s bad when the commander is always dead/downed first and you’re often at the front, leading your zerg and therefore the first to engage a fight.

This exactly; A dead commander is not a good commander – Any build you run that you like & you feel comfortable with; is the build for you.

I slightly disagree with you, but I understand where your coming from. A commander needs imo 3 things.
a: be able to hide in the zerg
b: be able to stay alive longer then (most off) the zerg/not the first to die
c: have an easy to use build with lots of protection.

Just feeling comfortable in normal WvW isn’t enough. You are imo excused to be a lousy player as logn as you stay alive, be a good leader and know what your doing. Often a commander needs to type more. A good commander hides in the zerg and isnt busy with the dealing the best DPS, portalling the zerg, stealthing and stuff like that, he does his best to stay alive, and command. the zerg :P. So what works for you in normal WvW doesnt work well when your commanding.

Having said that, an ele can be a very good commander if build and traited well for protection. The speedboosts are very nice to not fall behind on your own zerg.

The hardcopy I got is only 45%-ish off the game. that is the only kind off hardcopy there is. There is however a way off back-upping.

1: go to c:/program files/Guildwars2
2: copy the gw2.dat file to a an external storage device (e.g. an usb-stick big enough or an external hard drive). make sure you got the right formation off the drive to handle files as big like this.
3: Renew this backup every often.

When you need to reinstall, download the client again(goes quick) and start installing. When it starts downloading the big massive files, just close the client. And replace the newly made gw.dat with the one in the backup. Then start the game client again. If doen correct it goes checking the file and getting the updates not included i nthat back-up but thats all.

You can do WvW-maps rather easy, all it takes is TIME.

The biggest mistake people ever make is not realizing that you shouldn’t wait till everything else is done before setting food in WvW. The real trick is to go there everyday . And see what you do. Due to maprotations and change off commanders leading the zerg left or right you can do things almost every day.

Also it helps to check on odd times like the middle off the night. Often then it happens that some servers suddenly can capture stone mist castle by surprise. It actually only takes 10 people if undefended.

I promise if you make it your routine to check daily what you can do, you can do it with almost no effort or getting to do pvp-elements there.

I kinda disagree with the advice to switch class. Ultimatly you can do that but I would advise to stick with your class right now.

My first character was an ele and I had simular issues (even though I had MMO-experience).

The first and most important thing bout an leveling ele is what weapon to use.
There are 5 possible options and I would like to explain why some are often advised, but not good for a leveling ele.

1: Staff: The staff is awesome at dealing massive amounts off AoE damage and is very appealing. This however is strongest when playing in big groups (zergs). Consider this. If you are fighting 10 foes, each deal 10 damage/second. You would face 100 damage/second. AoE attacks will kill them all at the same time, so ALSO keeping them alive the whole time and letting them deal that 100 damage/second. Single target damage only attacks one target but takes that target down a lot quicker. one target less means that you have to deal with much less damage/second.

2: Dagger/dagger: This weaponset deals the highest ammount of damage, specially on singel targets. Thats the reason I would strongly advice against using this. The reason is that you have to be in close range, making it harder to move away from damage and cause it has not many protective skills.

3: Scepter/Focus: This is the best protective combination there is and will put you on the right distance and deals lots of single target damage. I would really advice to try this! It does lack on offisive skills a bit

4: Scepter/Dagger: This hangs a bit between dagger/dagger and Scepter/focus and has imo the best of both worlds. It has very good protection skills but also does a good amount of single target damage.

5: Dagger/focus: This is a combination very rarely used what you gain from the focus is gone by the dagger skills. The dagger mainhand is not as powerfull as the offhand, and the focus is mainly protective orientated.

Besides that also make sure you get new gear every 5 levels. While leveling I would highly recommend going for gear with toughness.

Danikat is perfectly right that you should keep moving and dodging at all time!

Last off all, it helps a lot to play with someone else.

I once loved and hugged a Dolyak. His name was professor Yakkington. I asked and begged his owner many times to give me some of his baby’s (a mini Yakkington). I gave them both many present week after week I spent hour after hour getting whatever they desired. Honestly, even if I get feared fullest and don’t remove it, It is not half annoying as the red-light movement I have when running through cursed shores. CC happens, deal with it! It is an important mechanic in the game, annoying if it hits you, useful when you use it.

Yeah, the road to account restoration is a bit like this:

1: get hacked
2: file a support ticket to get your account back
3: get your computer security up to date so you wont get hacked again
4: get an account restoration by asking support in the original ticket.

If you did got hacked, and you did file a support ticket, but lost track. Feel free to post a new one. Explain how you lost track and they will find it and help you. If you never had an account restoration before they will offer you one (again if you got hacked).

I recently found a way of making some nice gold if you have a free character-slot or a level 22-32 character.

If you open puzzle chests on a level 22-32 character you can get a silver doubloon, they are needed for a the legendary juggernaut and currently pay 2gold. The average droprate when opening jumping puzzle chests is 25%.

There are two ways.
1: If both servers are in the same district (EU or NA, so thats the case in your situation), you can guest to them. Guesting prevents you from doing WvW, and you use your guilds resources from your home world. Guesting is a free option.
2: You can also have a world transfer. This world transfer makes Seafarer’s rest your home server and if you are in a guild the resources off that guild on SR will be used. You will be able to enter WvWvW for your new server.This cost however an amount of gems. (1800 gems in this case).

The fee can be removed if you delete! all your characters. Then this is free. you can store items in your account bank unless they are soulbound.

Keep in mind that when transferring items in a (personal) guildbank will not transfer with you to the new server.

To guest or have a transfer go to the character selectionscreen
press on world selection
choose the right world and ‘guest’ or ‘transfer’

When guesting you have to repeat this every time you pass the character selection screen and you can only guest to two worlds a day.

Engineers are special ops, that means they are used for a very wide variaty off roles and can switch very easy, but on the counterpart they dont stand out on anything. They are OK at DPS, ok at protecting, ok at CC-ing, ok at conditions etc.

So anything you can do, another class can do better, but no class can do all these things as good as you can do them.

Anet has stated many times that they only suspend people after a GM looked after it. So when your transfering bigger sums off money or expensive items I would recommend adding a note explaining to the GM that this is between two accounts you own. They can easily check that and your note should draw their attention.

Given the amount off spores needed for recipes, I do hope they remain in the world. Maybe the gathering nodes could stay, so there is still a steady but less available income off spores. But just in case.. I’m stockpiling my sigil’s of torment.

The issue with defensive builds in GW2 is that being a good defenisve player means the team survives. So that is a yes/no situation (yes, the team survived, or no they did not). For the damage output however, investing in power, critical, precission is ever increasing, there is no such thing as doing enough damage. It can always be better. Als. being build offensive, is also a good defense, cause killing the foes quicker, means they got less time to kill you.

At the moment, a team suited for full offensive can easily stay alive, making a defensive build totally useless.

The only solution would be to make foes more lethal, but so far there is no indication that this is going to happen.

The engineer is an oddball and challenging
It was the first toon I brought to 80 and I still love it a lot

They have a huge amount off potential and can be very very good.
They are also very versatile, almost all kits require a different mindset and way off playing (including armor and traits).

But a good engineer can use that to its advantage and really be that versatile.
It is challenging but really doable. so the main question is. Do you like a challenge? If you success you can be really good! If you want to play it safe, there are other easier classes to master.

Hi, the three days thread is being looked by, and is the place to post this.
Without trying to guess the reason why you you havent had a reply yet, the answers in that thread are made by Gaile Gray only and only after consulting to her team. thought support works 24/7 she doesnt. The thread however is being seen by all support people. So, the fact that you didnt got a question might! mean that it is something that is going to be answered by Gaile herself. I dont know, but it seems it is something that needs some internal talk first.

It is one word different, but it shows respect with people who disagree with you.

For the rest, I understand where you are coming from but it is much more complicated. You are saying that having a skin should mean something. I remember from gw1 that event skins like these would be missed by future generations, even though people didnt need to do anything but being present.

Further more. If you go through the walls off text here you can see that a decent amount of debate is that parts off the rewards are too grindy. People who only have some amount off time each day and cant grind to their reward. They really feel left out. My proposal is to make a general reward that satisfying for all, and a more elite reward for those that grind a lot. But feel free in telling how you would make the living story interesting for all players, off course including yourself.

It’s not a chain fear. Fear is not stackable. What happens is that he fears everyone during several seconds. If you remove the condition in those first seconds it gets re-applied. Just learn when you can remove it without getting it re-applied and your issue is solved. No need to change the boss, when it is a matter off understanding the mechanics.

Please no. All you get is another boring fight. They did this with Maw and Wurm. All that happened is that it takes 10 minutes off standing there and autoattacking skill 1. I can even go and make a cup of coffee allready.

I dont have objections to make Behemoth more challenging. But this is not challenging, this is just boring. Some nice suggestions that actually work.

a: Make the portals spawn more foes and harder to close (scaled to the group off course). Also the foes need all to be killed before the behemoth is targetable again. These adds needs to be killed and should be harder, but they don’t drop anything. Portals will appear every 25% off his health removed instead of timed.

b: Make the red circles lethal. I’m thinking that Necrid trap would be a nice one here that is effective and fits in the ‘scenery’. (Necrid trap is the dome ward used by Lupicus in Arah during fase 3 off the fight, you can blink or dodge out using stability, but if you get in you have a hard time and end up downed).

c: The screams makes everyone fear away

d: then to make the additions to the fight in balance with the time actually fighting him, A HP increase could be in order.

If with public you mean accessible for all, then it allready is as indicated.

If with public you mean open world, then no. The charmable pets you unlocked roam around in there, that would be impossible if it wasnt instanced.

You can’t salvage karma gear directly. But there is a work around.
1: get a regular level 60 (or above) gearpiece of the same kind and a transmutation crystal
2: transmutate the rune to the level 60 gearpiece
3: This is now salvagable. Use a BL salvage kit to peel the rune off.

Keep in mind that the guildbank cant hold accountbound items and half of the lv items are account bound.

I posted earlier and disagree with that.
I think the issue many people have with scarlet (I’m a fan btw) is the amount off teasers in the content combined with the slow realease.

I think that if people could read /play/watch the story in one go and one breath it would be an awesome story. But due to the way content is delivered the story gets fragmented. I use earlier the example off Harry Potter. the villain off the sotry is Voldemort, You know he is the villain from chapter one. You get explained why he is bad in book 1. After that he is always there, but there are side story’s. In my opinion thats how the living story should go. An arch-villain like scarlet should be introduced fully during a single release (1 month). then the story develops and we learn more bout her plans (but know who she is and her character).

I think the bottom line is that when writing, you forgot we see and experience things in a different timeframe then you wrote it.
Do you agree with that thats the core mistake on scarlet?

Lost (tv-show) was very good. But it lost many viewers cause the real plot dragged too long. I loved the philosophical mysteries, but I understand that people want to live through the story faster. The same goes for the LV.

It’s total bullkitten, all classes can do good, and if your lucky you can get a full 1 minute advantage (but then again you can loose it cause the player is crap and you could have gotten the class thats not favourable)

I dont think any mechanic can cure stupidity. Parties are as good as the player. The love or unlove for a class comes mainly from the kind off players that is atracked to the class. (often rangers are played by players who like a fluffy pet, thats perfectly fine but not a good motive to play that class, that doesnt mean the class can be awesome, I know they can be and often are!).

So if the so called elitists (actually crappy players that dont know a lot) cant find party’s anymore the favorism will die out cause there is no real need.

Crafting in this game is a lil bit lacking. Ascended crafting (400+) is all personal accountbound. So no use there. Below that you can make money and a profit, but the profit is very very low when buying the items needed on the TP (less then 2% profit on average). the real profit is when you farm the items yourself.

The main issue however is that many people are working on getting level 500 or getting ascended weapons. This means that the high end crafting mats are on high demand and the products on low. So its not profitable to farm/craft and sell but it is to farm/sell.

Bottom line, yes you can make some money, but best and easier is to farm the mats and directly sell them unless you want to make ascended weapons (wich you cant sell).

Guildbanks are tied to a world. If you change world (transfer, not guesting) it stays there. It’s not lost but you need to transfer back or get a second guildmember to get the items out. So best is to get them before transferring.

This is the only way I ever heard things got lost. Some people have been spreading rumours that you could get banned, but there has been no reports bout that at all and I think that’s a hoax. Also never heard of a bug causing things to be gone. So basicly it is very safe, just a bit limited cause you cant store accountbound items.

Best is to wait for an answer from support. It can be a phising mail or something else. They will help him quickly

There is no such thing as graphical lag. Lag is a latency delay (it’s an abbreviation). It’s a delay between sending packets of information between the client and the server. If graphics take longer to load in the game, that has nothing to do with your connection (the models and textures are already installed on your pc). If your frame rate is poor, again this has nothing to with your connection.

LA has performance issues that are mostly related to the size of the zone, and possibly the amount of textures and models that need to load. This is not lag. It’s performance. Anet is working on improving the performance of the overall game constantly.

Any new content added to the game, such as new weapons, minipets, holiday decorations, all those provide extra content for the game to load. Are you against new content being added to the game?

I actually disagree here.
First off all let me explain I do care and donated money through my national fund. So it’s not an issue for support.
But there are many many good causes. Many years ago the GW(1 and 2) community adopted Pink Day (in LA) as our fundraising activity. For that event there has been asked for such a thing and for Pink Day I totally agree with such a proposal. However it is important to not overask for fundraising, specially in game. People go online not to be begged for money for a (very good) real life cause, but to escape from the real world.

Too many off these fundraisings would in my opinion mean that people would start spending lesser and lesser.

So for Pink Day in LA: Yes, Such a suggestion would be good and I think Anet should have done that the last year allready. For other cause it would mean overkill pretty soon. Besides that. If anet supports this goal as well, then people also expect them to support movember, and world aids day, and the rebuilding of the WTC, and……well you prolly got what I mean.

So as for your suggestion: Not for this goal.

Children can more easily get addicted to things then adults. That is true. But on the other side, children can also more easily get over an addiction. They pout and moan a bit, but 10 minutes later they pick up a ball and are playing basketball. Two things you have to keep in mind. The first is that kids tend to copy the behaviour off their parents. So if you spent too much time on the game (and he sees that) he will more likely copy that and it is much more likely that he wont get off as easily. The second is that you have to make strict and clear rules bout it. So after your kid get home from school first homework, no skipping meals. After homework is done (maybe even let him show it) he can play GW2, but no langer then an x amount off time. On weekends/hollidays you can stretch it, but dont let him play hours and hours in a row.

How Anet deals with large amount of gold being sent around:
They will see it as suspicious behaviour. This means your account will get marked and a GM will investigate. In an ideal world that would be the end off it cause the GM will see that it is not an RMT trasnaction.

However! GM’s are humans. They make mistakes. On top off that they cant look into your mind. They have to deal with raw data and it might not be so clear as you think to separate the bad from the good.

However. You can end up getting suspended. In that case you can contact support to complain about it and if that is unsuccessful you can ask for an review by an official. In almost all situations this has lead to the situation where the account was reinstated. There are some situations I know of where the player keeps stating to be innocent and support is saying that they are 100% certain they are not. I honestly can’t tell who is wrong or right, but I do believe support.

Bottom line. No it will very likely not result in long term account termination, but it can cause a lot of issues and troubles. Do you want to risk that all??

I do really like the whole concept but there is one thing that’s bugging me. That is the way elements scale.

The first time (shortly after the update) I facerolled to the top in the zerg. I got some rewards and went to la to sell and decided to go some title hunting.

1: the top level (where the chest is) needs a travel golem. The third floor is very challenging. I do think the keyparts should only drop and shouldnt be for sale to promote doing the content, but instead off that if you got a key you should go straight to the chest. Specially cause the third level is the hardest level and needs a group off people teaming up (the rest is more or less soloable). You should be able to use your chest, go to the goggles, etc without need off doing that level again, specially cause there are two diving goggles that bring you all the way down. making it needed to do that level several times.

So overall, it is a lot better then usual, but allready tonight I saw trouble with the scaling where it was too hard in some overflows cause the zerg wasn’t running and to avoid that keeping people away from achievements it should be that the third level has a travel golem as well (so you can always run to the achievements without beiung blocked by the lack off a zerg, wich is going to happen in a few days)

pls contact support bout this. Normally they dont have ways to help you, but in this case it might be different

Anet is looking into bringing new content that can be compared to traditional ‘expansions’ in a different way. The main reason they can do that is the gemstore sales. They are looking into way off releasing new content in a way that is free (though you can choose to show your support). It will also mean I suspect that traditional things you normally see in expansions will not be included. Among them are things like more characterslots and bankslots.

I think it is an excellent plan for Anet to investigate this option and I hope they get the living story up to standards so it can be used for this!

Just wanted to add that you can go through kitten on a level 66. You just need to be carefull.

To Yak’s Bend you can go pretty straight ahead, avoid foes and use a running boost. After that go to the east wall off the map and then up. Make sure you dont get into the gorge but stay on the top off it. There are still 3-4 enemy’s but they dont one hit you, so with dodging/running you can outdodge them. It is a bit more tense but a lot shorter then running through iron marches and cross fireheart rise.

Yeah, that seems about right. I’ve been thinking about either of those two. Though i get the feeling that they are pretty advanced. I got a Mesmer in level 22, but it’s hard keeping up with all the Phantasams and the mirror images and I’ve not gotten a hang of it yet. I like the more direct approach. But the Ele seems like more of a pure DPS class. Or am I wrong?

you are wrong bout the ele. The ele has 4 attunements. Fire is a pure DPS line. Earth is specialized in gaining thoughness, crippling and reasonable DPS. Air specialized in reasonable DPS combined with blinds and dazes while giving speedbuffs. Water has awefull damage, but specializes in freeze and healing. You can constantly switch between these attunements, making it possible to use all those elements.

I disagree with mesmer. Mesmer is used in only 1 speedrun. Also the mesmer is mostly used there for 2 skills only. I dislike that kind off approach. The ele can do almost as good in much more dungeons and is viable in both normal runs and speedruns.

Yip, the situation is that you should have saved stuff before deleting a character.
The stance off support is that it clearly states in the message that it will get soulbound and it is considered a user error. So the policy is that they cant help you. Cause that is the policy support also have limited tools to help you. They can not create these items out of nothing and they dont have tools to make things appear out of thin air.

So yes you can make a support ticket and that is good to do, but it might be that even though they symphatise with you, they can not help you.

hmmm, it sounds to me like you are an ele. The DPS an ele can do is very nice, but they can also be very protective. During leveling it can be challenging to stay alive, but withthe grandmaster traits they can be made rather ‘tanky’ while not trading too much off the dps.
