You need to file a support ticket. This most likely has to do with a protection that is in place to prevent someone who stole your creditcard to spent too much money on your behalf. Support can reset the bar for you.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Your account is likely suspended due to an dispute of ownership. If you are a minor (according to USA-law in your case) your mum had the right to do what she did. In that case she should write a support ticket explaining that the account ownership is not disputed but the misunderstanding exist cause of her practicing her legal rights as your mum.

If you are not a minor but off age, it is different. Your mum had no legal right to confiscate what was yours and it can be considered accounttheft. The problem however is that she has your serialcode and so the account got disputed. I do not think that support can do much for you in that situation. Never share your serialcode with anyone. Not even your mum (unless you are a minor offcourse).

If you want an arenanet official to give an official response you need to post your 12 digit ticket number here.

I really do not think releasing the game in China has anything to do with an outragious time needed to resolve a rather simple ticket.

I am very much against having a feature on the website to change the emailadress. It is in my opinion very much more unsafe then. However. Support should say sorry for not handling, what I would call a simple request in a reasonable time. Maybe you can share your 12 digit ticket number again in the hopes that Gaile can have a look into this??

what class should i be

there is nothing wrong with engineer. and it is a very fun class to play. The best description is that it is the special ops of gw. this means that it is very versatile and fun to play, but also requires a lot of understanding of the game. So for someone starting with your problems I do advise to consider a different class. (and will give you advise soon). But also understand that your problems might not only be with the class. This game is not bout standing still and hitting buttons 1 to 0. It means you need to be on the move with any class. learning how to dodge is very important for staying alive. My advise to you would be the ranger.

The ranger has the same armor as the engineer. it has a pet that tanks for you. It has good healing and a good amount of CC. And it can be used to try different roles like melee range (just to try, you won’t excel).

The biggest disadvantage of the ranger is that it is hard to be very good, it makes the game easy to play, but when it comes to end game you are a bit limited. But you have 5 character slots, and the ranger is a great way to learn to play the game and have fun doing it.

We’re looking into this issue and I’ll post when we have info on this.

One thing to consider: If you purchased a code from someone else, that code may not be appropriate for your region. There are EU codes and NA codes and they do not work across regions. Now, clearly that’s not the only answer to this situation and the issues that folks are having. We know that a few people who got a code in their hands at an event have had issues, so we’ll continue to investigate the matter.

Hey Gaile, I didn’t visit any of this and am just an outsider, but some NA-people play on EU servers and some EU players play on NA servers. Maybe that might be some cause of these problems??

Didn’t we get the equivalent of play money gems during the beta weekends? I thought we got something like 2000 gems to play with in the BLT, but just for beta, not to be kept after the official opening.

Nope, that was during closed beta (and I wasn’t there, but it is still under NDA, the fact that I know means that it has already leaked). We are talking (I think) bout the Beta weekend events. These where for players who pre-purchased or won a ticket on a website. in those bwe, you could purchase gems with real money. if you did so you got the gems again at the start of the game (but everything you used them for during the bwe was gone). People could use real money to buy gems and sell those gems for gold ( I bought gems during the beta weekend events for a few silver). So if you bought gems in game during that time, they would be lost to you and went back to the persona who bought them with real money.

Did you purchase these missing gems? Because, as far as I know, no one received a hefty amount of gems just for pre-purchase, or any other reason. The only time we got gems at or after launch was if we had purchased some during one of the Beta weekends, a small amount from Achievement chests, and…I think that’s it.

Oww I totally forgot about that. only gems you bought with real money during the beta’s where given back. If you farmed gold in game and bought gems with that in beta you would not get them.

you are in my opinion jumping to an argument that is used by ‘wrong language’ users too easy. Yes there is a profanty filter. But that is not an excuse to use faul language. I am an officer in a big guild. the ruled doesn’t apply to guildchat, but my guild doesn’t allows faul language either. So when someone does, I have to take action. This means I have to play with the profanity filter off.

I do think you do know what you said. The profanity filter isn’t an excuse to say what you want, but if you truly don’t have a clue what you said, please feel free to to file a support ticket to find out.

I bought the game before, played the beta weekend events, and received my Gems and a cool looking Hat (which I no longer have either).

Thank you for the advice I’ll make a support ticket while I’m at it.

The hat was soulbound when you got it, so that might be a different issue

Yes it can be resolved. You have the original key so you can prove ownership. I do believe this will be an easy thing for support to solve. All you need is a new password for your GW1 account. cause you can prove ownership with the product-key it looks like an easy one for support. So please click support on the top of this page and ‘ask a question’.

hmmmm, to get your story straight.

You bought the game before august 2012 and played in the beta weekend events?
You bought gems during the beta weekend events?
You got them sent to you after the release of the game?
And now they are gone without using them?

Sorry for asking but your story is a lil bit hard to follow. I would suggest you make a support ticket. I would also suggest to link to this thread. Normally I’m against, but your case seems to be unique. The thing to do however is to write a support ticket. Please be considerate that this might be a very unique and hard to understand case. You can always post your 12 digit ticketnumber in this thread so the support liason can follow it as well.

It takes the arenanet 5 minutes to add certain url’s to the banned list. It takes the godlsellers 2 minutes to make a new url and link the existing site there. Arenanet does do this, but they take more time to make more decent blocks that isn’t circumvented that easy.

When I started playing this game, people where sending bout 10 mails per day, now it is bout 1 every 2 weeks on average. So there is progress, it is just hard to get this pest totally out of the game.

so far it’s taken ANet over a year and they still haven’t added the [censored] (wow, they actually did filter the url in the forums, just not ingame) url to their banlist. they do work against spam, thats right, but mainly by closing hacked accounts etc, not by adding stuff to a blacklist. I’m not saying their way doesn’t work – on the contrary, they’ve been very successful so far, the spam went down to a minimum.

also, you don’t seem to know exactly how domains work:
you go to a registrar and apply for a new domain. this is an electronic process of course and only takes a few minutes to complete (including the payment of a few dollars except in special cases), but still, it’s not instant. then you need to enter a nameserver which has to be configured to serve information about this domain. either you host yourself, which is fast (if you have the technical skill – which I doubt an average goldseller has, it can be a bit tricky), or you need to enter the necessary information at your webhoster (and not all of them automate this or even allow infinite domains).
by now you would on average have spent about 15 to 30 minutes, except if it’s something you do all the time (in the mentioned instance: so far never).

now you need an account to send your spam from – either create a new one (costs one game) or use a hacked account (finite amount available).
if you have that, you send out several mails with the url you just created.

but wait! if you send immediately, half your potential customers won’t even be able to access the site, as their hosters webserver might use heavy caching and might not have updated the nameservers yet.
so you wait 30 minutes to be sure. then send the spam

all anet has to do:

  • receive one report
  • add an url to a graylist (delay delivery, but don’t delete the message)
  • stop sent mails from being delivered until approved
  • if enough mails are disapproved, add the url to a blacklist (which means deletion of the mail)

it’s not hard to get a new domain name up, but it does take effort, money and time.
ANet’s current strategy is working very well, but a halfdecent graylist/blacklist system might improve their response time drastically.

though to be fair, in reality about 98% of all mails are spam, most of which gets filtered by your hoster without you ever knowing – so ANet is doing well against spam.

Againt this doesnt work at all. Anet is doing a much better job and I’m very pleased with the progress they made.

Almost all games with monthly fees have live support. this game is free to play. within that bussinessmodel live support is rare.

Besides that. Games with monthly fees live on addicted players. Gaming addiction is a serious hazard. Rest asure that supprt will help your friend, In the mean time advise him to watch a movie, or even better have walk outside

Many mailprogram’s call the reply to adress off a mail the sender’s adress. This is technically not correct. I can sent you a an email from presidentobama@whitehouse.gov (if I know your emailadress) and it doesn’t take any special programming or tools, it’s just a setting in my own mailprogram.

Hi,

I know this is upsetting, but unfortunally this post won’t get it fixed. The first reason is that this forum is not for infividual support issues. Secondly cause it is something between Anet and your friend.

The advice I would give to your friend is to file a support ticket (on top of this page click ‘support’ and then ‘ask a question’).

Upon making a ticket she will recieve a 12 digit ticketnumber. Support takes up to 72 hours to answer, but in most cases significantly shorter. If for some reason it goes wrong and takes more then 72 hours, you can always post the ticketnumber for her in the sticky.

I am very certain that if she is innocent, her account will be reinstated very soon. But she has to take the first step on her own.

It’s called cavaliers. It can only be obtained as a drop atm (you can craft ascended cavalier’s weapons, but you need to salvage the upgrade component from an exotic weapon).

I understand this is annoying. Luckily it doesn’t happen too often (I had it two times now, and I almost always farm when in combat).

It has no use however to make the 20th thread about this. It only creates more workload for the devs to read all bugg reports. They are aware of this. As long as there is no update note saying they fixed this, then it has no use to make another thread.

Am I asking in the wrong place? I figured somebody would be able to shed light on whatever policy is causing me not to be able to get a refund here. This forum is about support policies. Generally, what sort of situations would warrant a refund from gem purchases, if any? Or should we have no reasonable expectation to our items not being altered?

I would try support, but I already explicitly asked them why, and they only reiterated they weren’t giving me a refund without any justification at all. I think I’m capable of seeing reason; I’ll gladly accept not getting a refund if there is some good policy behind it. All I would like is some sort of response beyond “we’re not refunding you.” Of course, if there isn’t a good reason, then I suppose it would make more sense to return my gems…

4 days ago, Gaile let you know they are re-examining the situation.
3 days ago support got back to you and let you know their point of view didn’t change.
Since then you haven’t had a different reply so it seems that that is the answer after they re-examined it.

I allready gave you my personal view and it seems that support agrees with me. In the user agreement you agreed that you do not have any right for gem-refund’s and it is to the sole discretion of arenanet to do so or (in this case) not.

Bottom line is that there is no different place to ask this. I know we have different views of what is fair or not in this matter, but I do feel sorry. The only thing left for you to do is to make a decision for yourself if you want to support this company in the future after this negative experience..

Please do not speculate, and post as “fact,” your theories about how things work. That’s really not fair to anyone!

Suffice to say, we monitor what goes on in the game and take action on fraudulent and unacceptable activities, such as gold deliveries from an RMT. And occasionally — more rarely than the forums may lead you to believe — a mistake is made. However, errors are quickly set right with a ticket to the team. After all, we want you to play the game and we want to correct any errors that we make!

But yes, you can trade and go about your business! And know that if something odd does happen, we have agents on duty, 24/7/365, and if that should happen, we’ll get things sorted ASAP!

I definitely have faith in you and the support staff, but it does concern me that you admit that sometimes innocent transfers get flagged. I am constantly shuttling gold to my wife via mail, 5g here, 15g there. I make she spends, it’s been working for us for 25 years! With me doing this frequently and unidirectionally, am I in increased danger of being accidentally flagged as an rmt?

Support will never tell you which amount of money gets you flagged cause that would help the RMT’s. There is nothing wrong bout being flagged as an RMT. The problem arises if you get suspended. As Gaile said that is very rare, but whenever there are humans involved, errors happen. Are you yourself perfect?? do you never make mistakes?

The worst thing that can happen is that you can’t play the game for several hours. If that is so troublesome for you, you should find professional help.

I am sorry, I was confused with the simular names (specially cause you drew my attention there), but it doesn’t change my answer. the forum can’t be used to speed up tickets. Your ticket is (almost??) older then 72 hours (lemme explain my hesitation, the ticketnumber gives the date, but im in europe, for me the date is 4 days ago, but depending on the time it was posted it might be less then 72 hours).

For the rest my answer doesn’t change. I do think there is more to this story then you are telling me (you are a third party just as me, so we both might not know the full information). Ask yourself, what reason would arenanet have to block a paid game acount to play cause of a suspcisious gem-transaction??

It is like you have a house and it is fully paid for, you buy a kitchen, but your payment couldn’t get verified, the kitchen supplier doesn’t deliver the kitchen, but also confiscate your home???

I do think something else is going one here. post in the sticky when it is 72 hours or more.

I am going to make a footnote. It prolly sounds out of line, and it might be out of line. but the story sounds ‘fishy’. it just doesn’t make sense and isn’t logical. This might! be an indication that your friend isn’t truthfull to you. I do hope he is truthfull and I don’t want to break friendships. But what you said so far seems far fetched. So my advice is to help your friend while being critical.

This actually belongs in the acount section of the forum. but to answer you.
1: no. your cd-key is an important part of your authentication. it is the only real proof you own the game. if you lost it, you can still play the game and support will still try their best to help you, but there is no 100% garantee anymore.
2: no, you are not alone. But i’m carefull to give too many details. There are ways to cancel email authentication. You should contact support (top of this page- click ‘support’ – then ‘Ask a question’).

I think it is highly unlikely that an account gets suspended over a problem with payment of gems. Yes it happens that payment is refused cause the transaction doesn’t seem valid (either right or wrong), but that is imo no reason for a suspension (unless it is payment for the game itself, but thats not the case here).

If your friend has an issue with getting into the game then please advice him to file a support ticket. (top of this page – ask a question). If he is suspended it is very very likely for a different reason. support will be able to tell him why.

Very recently, culling was removed and replaced by this.
Culling is a system that you don’t see fellow players cause your client and your internet connection is still loading them. To solve this they replaced those fellow invisable players with ‘placeholders’. They are all pink colored and have the same armor. After a while (if you and them stand still) they change to their normal armor. Nortmally you would have never seen them. As suggested, in your settings you can tweak things to have them less notable.

Panic Attack, Solved but Still Worried

ok two possible things that could have happened. I do not think this is a bug in the game. The amount of programming code required to transfer globs (ecto’s??) from one character to another is so specific it is almost impossible to program that on accident (what a bug is).

So….
1: you have transferred them yourself but somehow have a total blackout. this psychological effect can happen. Many people will blame alcohol or other drugs. but I did have a 3 day period in my personal life I do not remember and that had nothing to do with drugs or alcohol (believe me, I have been there too when I was young and it is different).
2: You got hacked. Someone else got access to your account. please go to my account here to change your password, if that doesn’t work to https://account.guildwars2.com/recovery .

If you are still not convinced, feel free to file a support ticket. But I doubt if they can tell you anything else then either of the above.

It is not that the dev’s don’t care. But within the amount of time they have to fix things they have to make decissions (so called priority’s). It doesn’t seem affecting everyone and actually only a small amount of people so I understand that they put this on low priority (and I know it stinks for those concerned). Cause it is only a few limited players with this issue, have you tried asking in the tech section of the forum. These people might be able to help you finding a workaround so you are not affected by this stupid bug anymore.

Gem store issues [merged]

I bought gems a week ago and everything was fine then. Then the next day I went to buy gems in order to transfer to my old guild form Guild Wars and it wont let me buy gems. I keep getting a “Payment approval failed.” message every time I try to buy gems. I know that there is money in the bank and also that the information is correct because I’ve attempted to buy gems at least two dozen times. I have emailed Guild Wars 2 and also support. I have reported the bug issue and its still not fixed. It has been one week and still nothing. I try to buy gems every day at least three times a day and still nothing. When will this issue be fixed. The only reply I got back from Guild Wars 2 was, “Its not your information many people are having this problem.” and that’s it. I would like a time line or possibly be able to talk with someone directly in order to fix this as soon as possible. One week of having this issue without any kind of help is horrible on Guild Wars 2 part. I just want to be able to buy some gems from a game, I don’t think that’s too much to ask for.

It is not possible to talk to someone directly. GW2 is a game without monthly fees, that means they don’t have the resources to have a callcenter.

To get help you need to go to https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Tickets-for-Review-3-days-and-older-merged and post your 12 digit ticket number there. That thread is for ticket that somehow didnt get resolved wihtout a full answer within the target of 72 hours (anet has tasked themself to try to answer everything within 72 hours).

ok ok, wind back. What was your initial log in issue??

a: if you can’t login to the game cause you forgot your password. your game password is the same as your forum password. in most browsers you can go to settings to see the password you put on auto-remember here.
b: if you filed a support ticket, you will get an email. you can always reply to that email to update a ticket and you get a response there
c: if you are trying to file a new support ticket, then you don’t need to log in, you can skip that part
d: if all else fails, you can email support on support@guildwars2.com

ok, a ticket is the thing to do. A post here won’t speed up the process, even if you would post the 12 digit ticket number (which would be needed for support to find the ticket).

My personal experience is that support replies within several hours (6-10) unless it is complicated. But you are right, they tasked themselves to answer within 72 hours so that’s what it can take.

There are two several things going on.
The policy is that a FIRST time offender gets a free name change. the account is blocked till the name is changed, but no longer. If this happens again the account is banned for atleasdt 72 hours. It is possible in some cases to go directly to a 72 hour ban. This is done by really bad breaches of the naming policy. So it could be that your offense was so bad that the GM decided to skip the first warning and go straight to 72 hours ban.

But!. The message of your suspension is not very clear. Have you actually tried after the first time to log in again?? If my information is correct the message is saying 72 hours, but a few hours after you saw the message for the first time you can click through to the name change window.

Last thing that can be happening is that the GM clicked the wrong button. so made a mistake.

In any case, if you can’t change your name right name and login, all you can do is wait for an answer from support.

hmmm, are the waypoints there discovered??, specially the following three waypoints:
- Peeta’s Waypoint (near the portal to Lion’s Arch)
- Great Lodge Waypoint (in the great lodge)
- Eastern Watchpost Waypoint (near the portal to Wayfairer foothills).

It might be that somehow record of you unfogging it got lost due to the inactivity, but the game should have kept track of discovered waypoints. It might als good to check that if you are uncovering map, if you get a message on screen that you discovered the area.

The only solution I could advise you is to do it twice. You can write support, but I doubt they can change a lot bout this right away (besides making a bug report)

Hi Pierre and welcome to the forum,

I understand your issue and your request.
This is not the right way to get the attention of Arenanet. I would advise you to do two things.
a: file a support ticket. (click on the link support on top of this page and ask a question). This way you get a personal reaction from a arenanet support and hopefully a sattisfying solution.
b: post in the ‘bugs’ section of this forum. posting there won’t get it fixed for you personal, but it is used by arenanet to see how big an issue is. I would advise to first look if someone else have simular issues.

Skipping levels

are you sure this is a bug?? When you level up, you get the flash effect on your character and you see level up. then the number in the level bar is adjusted. After that all is done, the bar starts actually filling up, making it seem as if you are skipping levels

I think IC was very clear. As well as Arenanet was bout the removal of magic find gear, but MF removal has nothing to do with this.

To those people who are missing a second present. You can also look at it from a different point of view. Arenanet has fixed the issue really quick. They prolly could identify and fix the issue really quick, but the problem arised with tracking down and filtering the existing accounts that allready got affected. They (so I imagine) decided to get those people their gift asap. This speedy action had the side effect that everyone got their present again. I know this sounds a bit unfair, but would you find it acceptable if you they where still trying to find a solution where only the affected accounts where filtered out and you still had nothing??

There is nothing the devs can do bout this right now. It is a known bug, that is either very hard to fix or has limited priority. as for looking for someone to lead you in thats on the right storyline, you might better post in players helping players. The people who come here do that to complain about bugs, the people going there do that to help others.

I have heard of this before, it is a rare and rather individual bug. Afmart’s suggestion might help. You can always ask for a party before the start, many times you can join in when you crash and end up in overflow.

Wrathfull spirit is also nice to uphold a boon, everytime your aegis is removed you get 3 seconds of retaliation, giving you more time to get a replacement boon up.
