There are plenty of good items to get from karma.
Rare karma weapon skins, food mats for crafting, obsidian shards for Legendaries, sun beads for beaded weapons….
Here is one thing you can do with you karma to convert it to gold. This method is RNG but will always turn a profit and spends karma fast and gives you a gold/karma payoff as good as slower methods.
(1) With buy orders, buy the cheapest lvl 60-80 rare weapons or armors (will probably be lvl 60 leather armor). you should be able to get a bunch for 8ish silver
(2) Go to Timerline Falls and buy a ton of lvl 57 rare rings for 1100 karma each.
(3) Throw three rings and your lvl 60 rare into the forge
(4) Profit!
The point of this method is to get lvl 60+ exotics, which will happen 20% of the time.
Lvl 60 exotics can be thrown ino the forge with 3 lvl 80 exotics for a chance at a precursor, so you should be able to get 1.5 gold per exotic weapon. Many of the exotics have expensive runes like Superior Rune of Strength (12Gold) or Superior Sigil of Energy (9Gold)
But even if you dont get an exotic, but get a lvl 60 rare weapon, then if it has a desirable precursor (Greatsword, Dagger, staff, longbow, hammer…) you can sell that too and turn your 8 silver into 40 silver.
If you get a crappy lvl 60 rare, just forge again…. It’s just karma.
This methods generates desirable superior runes and sigils and materials for the precursor forging market, which is one of the bigges sources of demand in the game. This method is non risky guaranteed money.

Anything that makes Life blast more similar to RS1 is good in my book. I don’t like the idea of mismatched traits.
I don’t really like focus.
To get decent effect out of focus 4, you need to get all of the bounces, which means melee range (and non moving opponent a lot of the time). It’s basically a melee skill with anet trolling us by claiming 1200 range.
Focus 5 has too long of a cast time to use.
You’ll get better damage in melee from Warhorn. And Dagger works better as a ranged weapon (but dagger 4 and 5 act as control).
You can take down the Jade Maw Collossi with Axe really easily. They can’t hit you from range and axe isn’t reflected.
Adjust the damage scaling coefficient, blast finisher on 3. Axe fixed.
Also Dagger has life force on the very quick attacking #1.

But it will probably be removed and no longer available once the next Xmas starts. So spam your gifts now.
EDIT. The main problem you’ll have is that you will get a ton of ugly socks, hats and sweaters after opening the gifts. You have three choices (1) try to sell them now a prices far below what they are worth when you can convert them to gifts (2) list them at a fair prie for December and see if they sell in december or (3) try to store them somehow with limited inventory spots.

I don’t think a thief should be 1v1 anybody (maybe Mesmer)
Stick to decamping empty points and +1ing team fights.
If you are running with a group use Plague.
The purpose of Plague is not to kill anybody (damage sucks) but to be able to charge right into an enemy group and separate members of the enemy Zerg from their guardians and elementalist. You will be using plague # 3.
Plague poison also heavily nerfs the HP of any downed enemies that rally.
Seriously, don’t try to roam with a necromancer, but if you do, lich form might be better than plague for a small scale fight. You have no business roaming on a slow class that can’t escape.
I did acknowledge that GS isn’t necessarily going to be strong, but I also tried to explain how that isn’t terribly important. It’s not important because we have dagger already. GS isn’t really adding something we need, it’s just a fun alternative.
We’re getting traits that are clear upgrades and that’s why I’m trying to encourage you guys not to get hung up on the shouts or the GS.
The traits are boring. (1) less immobilize (2) more life force (3) more life force.
Since you are on dagger, the minor traits won’t help you much either.
As you said, the shouts and greatsword might not be useable.
Instead of 1 spam on dagger, you’ll have 1 spam on reaper too, but you have to give up your best anti kiting tool to get this.
We are very concerned about reaper because
1. Melee builds need survival tools that the reaper doesnt have
2. Melee builds need chase down tools that the reaper doesn’t have
3. reaper, at least greatsword reaper, may have really poor life force generation. Even if the grandmaster trait makes up for some of this, reaper should get something better from its grandmaster trait than life force to make up for the terrible greatsword life force.
4. Reaper GS chill access depends on a 4 second chain attack all hitting, but the attacks are slow and well telegraphed.
4a. Chill is supposed to be the main control tool of the reaper, but chill got nerfed hard that the condition will not fill this function very well.
5. If reaper damage is not best in the game top notch, then the whole class theme falls apart. Reapers, instead of being feared will be trying to run away from eviscerate warriors for example.
6. Axe and Focus are needed more badly than ever. With Reaper shroud and greatsword both melee, there is a real need for a legitimate power weapon tools (staff doesn’t count). Unfortunately, those two got Dhuumfired in beta and still suck today.
7. What OP said, shout and utilities don’t matter if we are going to be stuck taking (weak) stun breaks for utility.
8. The traits look very weak & boring, here’s what every Pvp & WvW reaper will take: (1) immobilize duration reduction (2) more life force to make up for greatsword life force sucking and (3) more life force to make up for greatsword life force sucking. That is very boring, even if the particular numbers turn out make the traits strong.
9. No scaling defenses for team fights & no team utility for team fights.

You guys seriously need to stop crying. These nerfs aren’t a huge deal at all. No one seriously uses the focus in pvp, so spinal shivers is irrelevant.
Why did the bottom tier class need nerfs?
Why not fixes to stuff like axe (Dhuumfired in the beta three years ago & never fixed) or signet of spite (only does one bleed)?
Anyways, everybody in high level Pvp used the spinal shivers trait and the healing signet. Those are pretty big nerfs. The PvPers trying to make MM wok relied on unholy martyr, another big nerf.
Why does Mesmer get thoughtful changes while we get thoughtless nerfs?
Unholy martyr is still bad because of the RNG factor.
The nerf just took MM out of mid level Pvp viability.
The change to signet healing is a big sustain nerf for everybody looking for an alternative to consume conditions
You get extra health, max life force, and life force from skills from vitality (somewhat mitigated by extra life force degen)
You get extra power from toughness with the Death Trait.
Vitality unless you need the extra power from the death trait?
MMs took it.
The trait was the main thing allowing MM to compete in mid level Pvp. MMs were gaining 10% life force every proc, because minions too dumb to run out of red circles.
The condition pulling is not helpful or even desirable because necromancer condition removal is poor, but the life force gave this trait a niche.
One less viable build.
Oh and the vampirism signet change is a big nerf to the other closest to viable build.
How does Chilling Darkness Work now?
(1) Chilling darkness procs an explosion similar to sigil of fire that blinds and chills?
Or
(2) The first hit of an AoE blind will also chill, meaning that the first hit of plague and well of darkness will chill everyone it hits, but dagger 4 will only chill the first enemy it hits.
Both suck. Neither makes sense unless the class is suddenly goings get a lot more access to blind (from blasts or whatever)
These changes are depressing.
Mesmer was due to get Dhuumfired but instead got thoughtful, reasonable changes that fix what is OP without ruining the class. Why doesn’t that ever happen to necromancer?
To this day, axe never got fixed after being Dhuumfired in beta more than three years ago.
Anyways big nerfs to the only builds that people have been attempting to use. The vampirism signet change is another nerf to healing, and the unholy martyr trait was a main thing keeping MM alive.
Spinal shiver should be unblock able if it’s going to take over a second to cast, and casting it is a DPS loss.
And Corruptions changes and Chilling Darkness change is lipstick on a pig.

EoTm has its own population problem. Red is always the least populated servers and Red always gets farmed. This ought to be fixed someday.
Focus spinal shivers tries to fill a role that the Necomancer doesn’t have the tools for.
If you are in a team fight and want to burst somebody down, spinal shivers can remove his burst defenses, do a bunch of damage and pressure him with chill.
But necromancers have no business being in such fights if anet isn’t going to hand out projectile reflects, blocks, vigor, or blasts. (and if the self heals are going to remain so bad).
Spinal shivers ought to be remade a spammy control tool. 3/4s cast, 10 second coolown. 4 second chill (one fewer), no bonus damage, 2 boon corruptions (down from 3 removed boons).
That’s a useable skill.
No, I know exactly what I’m talking about. Chill of death is an amazing trait only if you like auto-proc bs damage that requires no timing, or even awareness to land. It’s broken and dumb. Meanwhile, focus, the actual weapon that inspired that trait is broken and useless in pvp. I just think that should be fixed.
There is no other auto proc trait that can deal as much damage instantly as chill of death and it’s really dumb and broken.
Chill of death is really dumb. It does too much damage. We already got our downed state damage nerfed because of chill of death.
I suspect Chill of death is the reason the class doesn’t have a proper “finisher” skill. Chill of death may be why necromancer is just “1 spam.”.

I’ve been around long enough to know the price fluctuates. Its been relatively high for awhile, but now the price seems to be dropping.

Supply and Demand.
The Silverwastes rewards tons of rares. A lot of players are doing the Silverwastes right now.
A few months ago, people slowly stopped doing the Silverwastes as much. Rares weren’t worth much, which lowered a big % of your Silverwastes income. Also, it got boring. I think some of those players went to WvW (judging by prices of WvW food).
But then, the LA update introduced the ectoplasm gambler who rewards a mystic forge & an an achievement. A lot of super rich bid up the price of ectoplasms up to 30+ silver and rares (the source of ectoplasms) rose too.
Ths caused the Silverwastes to again be super rewarding and the players went back there.
Elementalist also has icebow. Best burst in the game!
Flesheeavers are great. They are cool looking, different from existing minions & not too powerful.
They may count as Demons, not sure.
Anyways, my suggestion from the other thread is to put “Rise” on Superior Rune of the Lich, and I wouldn’t care what kind of minions they are.
Superior lich rune is in dire need of an update: Is this the worst rune set in the game? Rise, which is 1 minion per enemy in shout range, would be an improvement.

OP is right. There is nothing “attrition” about the design of death shroud. The only mechanics that work are the burst mechanics.
Does everybody realize that the necromancer isn’t really viable in PvE or SPvp and the only thing keeping it viable in WvW is no internal cool down on life force from deaths (which is broken)?
The way its set up now, If you spend your master trait you can get life force on hit #4 of autoattack.
But this is horrible too. Getting 4 autoattacks to hit will take 5 seconds.
Also blighters boon exists, but where are the boons coming from? Rune proc every 30 seconds?
We’ll definitely have to test life force generation in beta. The previewed numbers look very bad. And I would hope that all reapers aren’t pigeonholed ino two life force generation traits and one immobilize reduction traits. That’s, like, really boring.

Well ele’s got another blind field on a wepon skill that blows ours out of the water, so much for our last bit of “utility”
Not to mention pulsing boon strip on fire warhorn 5. That’s also on a more desirable field type.
Is that skill for real?
It pulses 8 times with well of corruption level damage and multiple stacks of burning per pulse. Also the field is gigantic. It’s also a fire field.
Its like a well of suffering and a well of corruption at the same time while also being a fire field
Its broken as all hell.
The tempest shouts do have cast time… 0.25 seconds of cast time.
Anyways, damaging shouts should have cast time… Otherwise you could use the shouts at the same time that you are damaging with your weapon.
You don’t need your guardian to do Silverwastes, the way you would need it for Orr. Mobs drop no loot so the ability to tag everything isn’t as useful.
The necromancer pro is that with all the defense it has, Silverwastes is easy.
The con is that you are slow. Even focus swiftness is slow because it inevitably hits something and puts you into combat. You do not have the option to run around the map tagging events for other people to complete. You do not have the option to try and tag up to three of the underground bosses for triple loot.
You’ll have to do the content instead of just leeching as fast as possible for a lot of crests and shovels.
You want chest farmers to be able to completely avoid doing Dry Top content? They almost can now with Geodes rewarded from silky sand.
No thanks. Dry top requires numbers of players doing the content or it doesn’t reward anything.
Where are your fleshreavers? I’ve seen guardians with 5-6 of those out at once. (from sigil of demon summoning).
In my research thus far on potential Reaper builds, I see two main types of builds in existence:
1 – Builds that use the reaper traitline to enhance their current build
2 – Builds revolving around reaper shroud.If someone goes with the #1 route, then they’ll likely keep their old weapons. If they go with #2 route, Dagger autoattack generates life force whereas GS AA doesn’t (again, this is assuming that GS damage is comparable to dagger and not significantly higher).
What weapon do you pair with greatsword?
Probably Staff. You need the range. You need the conditions transfer and you need the fear (please disable weapon swapping while feared). Both staff 3 and 5 will chill. You’ll want that.
But staff has awful life force generation.
How much of our current life force generation comes from Warhorn? Most of it? You are giving up that and the quick life force from dagger auto.
I don’t think Reaper has enough chill for the chill trait to generate much. (And it will generate life force in ‘snowball’ situations when you dont need it). That leaves the Reaper depending on blighter’s boon. But where are your boons coming from? Do you get boons more than once every five seconds (spite might is snowball situation dependent. It’s not going to help when you need it)
The fix Reaper needs is for anet to finally get up and fix axe and focus.
Axe needs greater damage scaling coefficient and finisher on 3 (it should be a utility weapon because it nerfs your shroud damage. Vulnerability generation is not useful if necromancer doesn’t have the defensive tools to survive in a team fight).
Focus seems to exist now as a “set up an enemy for a team damage spike.” weapon. But if the necromancer can’t survive in these situations, it sees no use. Spike strategies in general are bad in a game with no strong healers.
It should be made a spammy control weapon. No bonus damage, 2 boons corrupt (one less than now), one second less chill, .75 cast time, 12 second cool down on 4. Focus 5 needs to be brought in line with Mesmer greatsword #2. (The Mesmer skill provides its own bounce with the clone, so it’s just a lot easier to use in addition to being better in every other way).
If axe and focus are fixed you could have reliable aimed chill for your traits or could still take Warhorn and a (low) ranged weapon.

Pvp: It’s slower than guardian hammer which is not viable because it is too slow. It doesn’t CC like guardian hammer does either.
You get a pull on greatsword (good), but you are giving up access to better utility by taking it.
Your life force generation on reaper looks terrible in Pvp. You only get life force on the long cool down #5. You have two life force generating traits, but if you need to take these just to get decent life force, then the new class offers you nothing in terms of traits.
And look at those two traits. You get life force when you hit a chilled target (how is the target getting chilled?) or you get life force when you spam boons on yourself (where are the boons coming from?).
The damage numbers on the greatsword better be out of this world good.
Edit: we are most definitely not used to having to be in melee with such terrible cast times. You can hide terrible cast times with range (sorta, not really), but melee is a different story.

Lich is awful.
Lich needs the icebow treatment (skills other than 1 should be buffed). Lich 2 especially needs a buff. A skill that cool looking should have a meaningful effect in game (it doesn’t).
I don’t mind Rampage on warrior, although Rampage interaction with traits is problematic. I do mind Rampage on engineer, its too strong whn the skill also gives them AoE moa.
Shield is a decent weapon. Other classes would love to have it.
The problem, however, is that shield is decent and all of the other off hands are good. Thus, no reason to use shield. If focus got nerfed and you had to use shield, you wouldn’t lose all that much.
Only one pet in a 1v1…. In more than 1v1 the minions will not live anyways.
Plus, you’re giving up a runeset for this. Are 5 jagged horrors, even traited, better than a rock dog or parrot?
Tbh, I thought that Revenants or Warriors would get the Break bar.
On Elementalists, a break bar is so pointless. They could already cover their Earth Overcharge with Obsidian Flesh or Armor of Earth.
Maybe that’s for the best.
The RS stability might be better than a break bar (the break bar stuns when it pops). The break bar absorbs control conditions like blind and chill and immobilize and not just stuns. (is this a benefit or a weakness?)
I’m more concerned about immobilize than stuns anyways. Reaper will get a trait for that, but after playing extensively with Dogged March and Dogged/melandru…. It’s not going to be enough immobilize protection for a class that only has dodges for defense.
Suggestion
Superior Rune of the Lich already has a cool down down of 60 seconds.
How about, instead of creating only one horror that it be altered to cast “Rise” Instead.
Warrios have a trait called Brawler’s recovery that removes conditions on weapon swap.
Every other class has access to a sigil of cleansing (not available in Pvp yet), that does the same thing: removes conditions on weapon swap.
Fear counts as a condition, and weapon swapping while feared is not disabled.
This means that anybody with the trait or sigil can remove your CC just by weapon swapping. (necromancers require working fears because we have bad stability, bad stun breaks, and no vigor or mobility. Necromancer downed state survival is also tied to fear)
Alternatively, it is time to just turn fear into a control effect and introduce a new condition called terror that only does damage and only gets applied when you have the terror trait.
I never changed my build from pre patch Shoutbow.
The only real nerf is the less healing on shouts. Combined with the power creep that everybody else got on every build, and it’s a big problem.
I was using offhand sword instead of Warhorn already and that only got buffed.
Just Play some Dry top. You’ll use a handful of keys every sandstorm, and the sandstorm is very predictable when it arrives.
