recognize my command!”
If that’s accurate, as far as speculation, it makes me nervous as hell. Have they even beta tested it yet? I understand the natives are restless as far as getting the product, but is six months enough time to work out and polish all the kinks? Again, how much content are we talking?
Well going by Anets MO for releasing information, when they made the announcment I am sure they were already well into the beta testing phase. They’ve been saying for quite a long time that they were working on “something big” in the background. So another 6 months of beta testing and polishing doesn’t seem that unreasonable.
You can join a server with a full status, however you will need to wait until off peak times. (i.e. late at night, or early morning). However the homeworld selection doesn’t mean anything except for World vs. World vs. World. And as you are just starting out, you probably won’t start getting into that much later. For open world stuff (i.e. Player vs. Environment, PvE) you don’t need to be on the same server as your friends. You can play together regardless of server and be able to do everything as if you were on the same server. This includes guilds and everything that goes with them.
But how to you make it so staying with a particular server is worthwhile? Many people move for a better WvW experience in a higher tier. There really is no reason to stay with a particular server with a low/uninterested WvW population. Even if you did offer loyalty rewards for staying with a particular server for longer, why would one want to stay with a server that doesn’t share their WvW vision? Why not transfer and stay with that server?
I personally don’t see how Anet can do anything to fix this. They restrict transfers, which leads to people who want the better experience unable to do so, so they stop playing WvW because their server isn’t working with them. Which leads to an even more dead server. They merge servers, but that removes any matchup changes, and you’re basically stuck fighting the same servers all the time.
I suppose it’s up to the guild leaders/commanders to incentivise loyalty. Make it worth your players time to stay with a certain server. Start organizing WvW raids/events. Learn to be a good commander and how to win fights so you can move up in tiers. Other than those types of things, there isn’t much you can do.
2% per second, + (Healing power)(.00x)%. 1% would be a nerf to the lowest HP bracket.
On second thought, this would probably be absurdly overpowered.
A warrior cleric would end up healing faster than you could damage him and would only be susceptible to high burst. On the other hand, you pretty much surrender any offensive capability for it.
True, with my guardian setup, I can take at least 2 guard vets with almost no damage. But vets aren’t that strong anyway. The problem is when healing other players. It does help as is, but the damage recieved is much greater than my healing abilities. Which means, that players can be kept alive for a few seconds longer, but it’s not really enough to make it worthwhile.
You are getting double of regeneration at 1040 healing. In a relation to how much it normally heals, thats quite a bit. In relation to the max health of a warrior or necro, it is not.
Its like this for most utility and skill heals. Just not for the actual heal skills, because their base value is quite high (And again, relatively low compared to max health).
I would say that skills should heal a percentage of maximum health (So regeneration might heal 1-2%/second) but that would probably encourage vitality stacking more than healing power.
A flat percentage might be better, but how would that scale with healing power? If you could drop regen, and have it heal for 2% per second without any points in healing power, then why have healing power? Unless it increase something like .10% per point, then that might work a bit better…
Have you ever thought of the way that people can remove conditions? A person could use 1 skill, or even just use (such as with ele’s for example) a signet’s passive to remove that bleeding. How can a person remove another persons healing power? This is most likely the reason why they’ve made healing power much less effective than condition damage. If they were to be equal everyone would be immortal, due to no one being able to reduce a persons healing effectiveness. True, you could interrupt someone when they try to heal, but when that person is on a guardian. It would almost seem trivial :p
Well, you can corrupt/boon strip. It’s not removing the healing power, it’s removing the regenration boon. Just like clearing a condition doesn’t remove the condition damage, just the condition causing the damage.
Since release healing power has been worthless. Its there sure, but it doesnt really do that much. If you are without gear and go zerker, you’re going to pwn things. If you are without gear and go full all out healing power… You’re going to heal maybe 5000 instead of 4200. That’s it. At a complete loss of everything else.
So yeah it sucks. Just dont do it. Its not going to change.
I understand it sucks, thats why I am suggesting changes, so it doesn’t suck and is a bit more useful. This is not about getting rid of zerker, or trying to introduce a trinity. It’s about making a mechanic already in game more useful, without taking anything away.
So I started playing a healing build with my guardian in WvW (Cleric gear, Staff + Mace/shield, 2/0/6/6/0) in small group roaming. (Don’t really do the zerg thing). And while it is useful, I still feel that it is lack luster. Regeneration is 130 + (0.125 * Healing power) per second, and all other healing changes based on the source.
Now looking at conditions (bleed for example): 42.5 + (.05 * Condition Damage). Per stack. And thats just bleeds.
Now lets say that player A has a total condition damage of 1000. That means at 15 stacks of bleed, player A is doing 1387.5 damage per second.
Now player B has a total healing power of 1000. That means he is doing a maximum 255 healing per second. (assuming regeneration is their primary forms of healing, exluding blasts)
Now I don’t want to get into a “trinity” discussion, but I would like to explore maybe buffing or changing the way current healing works in order to make it more useful and desirable for WvW/PvP. (PvE is out of the question due to active defenses, dodging, etc.)
I suggest, instead of having healing/regeneration just stack in duration, what about making it similar to conditions (which stack in intensity)? So you can put say stacks of regeneration on someone, and making using regeneration worthwhile. Have it scale much like bleeding, maybe with a bit lower base healing so as not to have it be way OP.
Just some thoughts I was having. I feel the reason you don’t see “healing” builds very often, is because of the terrible scaling. I see more condi builds because those can actually do quite a bit of damage. So why not have healing on a similar level?
Discuss.
To stomp as a medi-guard, when the player is downed, get close and press “F” (or whatever you assigned the action butten to) when it says in red letters “Finish”. This will play an animation of your character stabbing the downed victim with a flag and play another animation based on your finisher selected.
:P
Is this supposed to be funny?
I found it amusing yes.
However, if seeking advice for a build that allows better protection when going for a stomp, it would be better to be more clear on what you are seeking, otherwise it does open the door for comments like this, which do answer the exact question proposed in the OP. (Just extremely literally)
Why does gold determine who a commander is.
Simply follow somebody and once there are X people following they get a tag while the follower count is large enough…
Make it percent based and allow 3 commanders per map.
It’s a decent gold sink thats why.
Also if you follow a commander either on TS, or team/map/squad chat, you can quickly tell if they are a good commander or not. We have one commander who is a great commander. He organizes whats going on, where, when, etc. (He can be a jerk, and I personally don’t care for him, but as a commander he is awesome.)
So if you don’t like them, don’t follow them. You’ll learn to recognize the good commanders from the bad, what the colors are for your server, and then having so many tags around won’t even bother you.
low damage, loss of dps while stacking might, wall is usless against champs and trash is unneeded.
So Guardian is just a DPS class? If so then I am in the wrong class at level 52 already….ugh.
Every class can be DPS class, or support, or control depending on weapons and traits. For PvE, your best bet is going to be DPS. For PvP/WvW, each “playstyle” (if you will) can be very useful. I like playing a support/healing build for WvW in small group roaming settings. I use staff and hammer. (although thinking of trying mace/focus or shield but we’ll see.)I use shouts for boons (stability, swiftness, regen, protection, might) and it really helps. Although I wouldn’t reccomend it for a zerg.

I am sure there are some recipies that haven’t been discovered yet. Take Reaper of Souls. Been in the game since launch, but only recently discovered, thanks to John Smith and the awesome story!
My guess would be it has something to do with karma items, like with RoS. Who would have thought that a low level karma gathering item could be used in the forge?
But it’s going to be expensive to try to find it, and take a long time as well…
That was not in the game since launch. It was added and figured out within 3 days
You sure?

Added 3 months ago, took 3 days to find the recipe.
But how to do you figure the skin, and the item code that were present since the beginning? Of course that wording may very well suggest that it was a new item, but it could also mean that being as it wasn’t discovered before, it would be “new”.
P.S. I remember the thread well. It was an awesome story. For those who haven’t read it, check it out.
There are tons of chat codes for items that are unobtainable. I’m guessing this was one that existed from the start but was only put into the game as accessible when the recipe was added.
Possibly…but either way, it’s a cool skin. I personally would love to see more “treasure” hunt stuff like that, for old or new recipes.

IIRC, there were a bunch of suggestions to make the traits to the current system. People felt that just getting traits just by leveling wasn’t fun, and wanted a different way to do it. Like exploring, doing certain events, etc.
So thats why we have the current system. Granted I feel they could have done it a bit differently, but it is what it is, and it was largely based on what the community wanted.

Interesting view point. However, it is entirely Subjective.
But the entire game is based around active combat. If its integral to the basic design, and it does work as intended, the by definition it cannot be a problem. While there is some problems that do exist (Balancing for one) actove combat isnt one of them.
I understand if its not your cup of tea, but that doesnt mean its a problem, and needs to change. In fact the active combat system is one of the biggest draws to GW2, if it didnt have it, it would have been ignored as another WoW clone and summarily dismissed by the masses.
Having come from SBI (migrated to DB to be woth friends) I can at least assure you, there are many really good people there, and tend to look down upon such behavior. Heck, Ive seen people on SBI kicked out of guilds, reported and warned about doing such things. While it may be possible it was a hack, try to get ahold of the guild leaders either throughTS or the SBI website, it would help if you remembered their guild tag (Dont post it here). They can and will help track them down and get it taken care of.
The only thing I can see promised in the Manifesto, is that GW2 will be a game set in the world of Tyria and share the same history as GW1. It looks like they fulfilled that promise VERY well.
Don’t feel like putting on my zerk gear, and can’t find a team who will accept a support.
Some advice. In your LFG, put “Any Welcome”. These types of group don’t care what you are running, and just want to do a dungeon for the heck of it. If I do start and LFG with “Any Welcome” my groups fill up fast. Rarely do I have someone who is picky about the group comp/builds. And unless they are experienced speed runners, most people don’t know the difference.
I actually know VERY few people in game who run full beserker gear. And when ever I do dungeons/world bosses/whatever. We never have any problem doing anything.
In any event. OP, how would you make it so content can be role friendly without making a required trinity? What would need to happen to make it so tank builds are viable, and healing builds are useful? What is it in the current system that is making it so such builds are not useful or used?
you are lucky, about everyone I know or have met are zerkers. Tankers are fine I think actually.. cause even zerker Warrior/Guardians are hard to kill. I guess it comes to healing. give it a slight boost nothing major. Just make regenerate heal more per tick. or reduce the cooldown on healing others skills.
The day I find a group who does dungeons/fractals without wanting to zerg it, is the day I find happiness in GW2. OH! and who do not flip over someone playing supporty. I might just be having bad luck with people o_o
So a buff to healing? And tanks are good where they are at? (just want to clarify)
The problem is if you buff healing, and every profession has self healing, then why would one need to rely on others to heal them? Warrior HS is already considered the best healing in the game. (IIRC it recently recieved a nerf too). All other self healing abilities would just be that much better. So instead of speccing to heal others, why not spec to deal more damage, and get more out of your self heal?
About tanks. In the current comabt mechanics, one player cannot hold aggro for a long time. (which is the original role of the tank. To hold the enemies attention, and asborb a ton of damage.) So if you are speccing to be a tank, you sacrifice your own damage potentional. Yeah you may be harder to kill, but you aren’t doing much else. You can’t focus an enemies attention. So why not spec for damage, and rely more on your own self healing and active defenses (i.e. dodging, moving out of red circles, watching boss tells, etc.) and be more useful?
Also, PvP and WvW are game modes where a tanky/healing build are the most beneficial. Especially in a zerg. PvE however, its almost useless as the combat mechanics allow you to go full damage and be able to completely avoid any and all damage taken.
I actually know VERY few people in game who run full beserker gear. And when ever I do dungeons/world bosses/whatever. We never have any problem doing anything.

Wut?
How would you shoot them? Trying to figure out the mechanics makes my brain hurt…
Yeah I’ve gotten it to play on Ubuntu under wine, via Playonlinux. However, I was having a wierd “fog of war” type of effect. But maybe with the update to OpenGL, it may work better. I’ll have to check it out.
I play a non-zerk build and do quite well thank you very much.
As will be said multiple times: “Start your own LFG, and don’t join zerk only speed runs”
Also in order to make tank and healer roles “viable” you’ll need to change combat as a whole. (This has been discussed countless times, especially in the last couple of weeks)
Tank/healer builds CAN be used, and used to great effect, just not in PvE speed run dungeons. WvW and PvP is where tank/healer builds are actually useful.
So now all the arguments have been covered this thread can either be merged or closed. Thanks!
No such thing as pathing or anything. That’s info out of thin air. The pet might wait a bit before jumping (like wolf), because he’s chanelling a skill (leap). Traiting Agility Training help a whole lot on both WvW and PvP, if you want the pet to be of some kind of help.
The pet pathing is a problem, or an annoyance rahter. Like with all other AI in this game. I personally never cared for the pet as a class mechanic (massive reliance of AIs shouldn’t be a forced class mechanic in the first place imo), but I rarely have any problems with it.
That being said, the very fact that the ranger is the only class in the game where you have to invest traits and do some niche tricks in order to straight out some of the big flaws with the class’ very own mechanic isn’t all that fair.
The pet worked in GW1 because the fights were much more stationary. That isn’t the case in GW2. They should have worked out those problems before even thinking of adding pets to a game revolved around combat movement.
Wait, because you have to invest in a build to make pets worthwhile, it means that they are broken? But if you aren’t investing into your pet, then you probably don’t care that much for it, and aren’t relying on it other than a little bit of extra DPS, and maybe the F2 skill.
It’s not that pets are broken, it’s just that I don’t see many people taking the time to use them. Most people like the pew pew power ranger build, and will take a couple of pets to hold people down so they can unload with RF.
I started looking at some of the “less popular pets” and have actually found some really cool things they can do. Right now my favorite is the pig. It has a knockdown on auto attack, AND the F2 allows you to find healing items, including an elixer of heroes. (a few seconds of invuln.) Granted anyone can pick those up, but I’ve found in PvP and WvW (small group roaming) that many people don’t even bother looking at those things, let alone pick them up.
No, pets aren’t broke, its just not many people take the time to fully exploit them, and use them to their full potential.
Where are the 140-200 skill points needed for ascended crafting going to come from now? Same with legendary weapons, you need 200+ skill points to craft a legendary, where are these points going to come from?
Probably from the ridiculous amounts of skill point scrolls you already get for doing almost anything in the game. Also, the article did say they’re going to put more skill points as content rewards to offset it.
And how many of those content options are going to be in WvW? There are very few chances (and they are all rng) to get a scroll in WvW and are usually behind defended objectives.
Also, skill point scrolls are only in abundance now because you get skill points as you level. If you had to use scrolls for everything post 80, you’d probably not have any scrolls left.
Besides the skill points for a legendary and ascended crafting, you have all the other mystic forge recipes that require skill points.
It’s true. We don’t know how many skill points are going to be available in WvW. However, if they are going to increase skill point aquisation methods across the board, wouldn’t it stand to reason that WvW would also see an increase of skill points?
OP:
Don’t you mean Skyhammer?
Foe Fire is actually one of my favorite maps. Maybe that makes me a noob, but whatever. I enjoy it.
Ascended is a long term goal with a less than 5% stat increase.
Can we stop with the misinformation? The ascended weapon alone gives more than 5% dps.
Full ascended is about 9-12% stronger than full exotic. Sure it’s about 5% more stats, but weapon strength >>>>>>> stats.
PS: I don’t mean to single you out individually, but this misinformation is not helpful regardless of good/bad motive.
It’s not misinformation. Ascended equipment offers a 5% STAT increase. However, it is also true that with such a stat increase, there is also a small amount of a DPS increase.
For example: Exotic Beserker armor/(single handed) weapons provide 405 power, 288 precision, and 288 Ferocity.
Full Ascended is: 423 power, 302 precision, and 302 ferocity.
A difference of: 18 power, 14 precision, and 14 Ferocity.
An exotic weapon has a damage of 905-1000, and ascended has 950-1050.
So over all, its +45-50 damage, and 18 power, 14 precision, and 14 ferocity. Which is not a 9-12% increase in DPS. Unless you have the calculations on how much damage is increase by each point of power, how much crit chance in improved by each point of precision, and how much crit damage is increase per point of ferocity.
Again, it’s not misinformation.
Exotic weapon strength 952.5 average
Ascended weapon strength 1000 averageFrom weapon strength alone, +5.0% (which alone refutes the claim of “less than 5%”)
Full ascended zerker (armor/weapon/trinkets) is around 90 power/50 ferocity/+50 precision over full exotic. Power is easy to calculate (~2400 power on full exotic with 6 in the power trait line, 2490 with full ascended ==> +3.75%).
+50 precision and ferocity would be a gain of at least 2% on the lower bound.
Multiplying all these things together...1.05 × 1.0375 × 1.02 = 1.11%
So 11% gives us a good baseline. Lower with more buffs (primarily power), and higher if our estimate of 2% should be significantly higher.
I’m also not here to argue semantics. The context of “stat” clearly was referencing performance, or overall dps, and even if not intended that way, would be perceived that way.
“Technically correct” no longer works for me when trying to spread misinformation.
PS: please don’t cite stat figures on exotic vs ascended without including jewelry, because the bulk of the stat points are there. For ascended weapons the bulk of the improvement is weapon strength, and for armor it is in armor rating.
While you can include jewelry, in the context of crafting ascended you can only include weapons and armor, as jewelry is not craftable.
However, While it may be an increase of ~11% DPS, the fact is that there is only a ~5% increase in over all stats of ascended vs exotics. It is a boost? Of course. No one is denying that. Is it a game breaking boost? Not really. One can still do everything (high level fractals excluded) while wearing exotic. It will technically take ~11% longer. (in a 10 minute dungeon run, it’s a 1 minute 6 second different).
Ascended is a long term goal with a less than 5% stat increase.

I seriously don’t know why people think that Ascended is a grind. I am a casual player, and was still able to get a full set of Ascended weapons/armor and trinkets. (granted it was heavy Ascended, but still). People tend to want things quickly. Thats why it feels like a grind. Instead of playing normally, and aquiring the stuff along the way, they feel that they must have it NOW. I can understand that to a degree. You want to have whatever advantage you can get. But it takes time. The ascended mats do seem to take the most time, however if you are just playing normally you can generally get those things fairly quickly. I have personally deleted over 2000 of each thing, and still have more than enough for at least 2 more sets of ascended. It’s not THAT hard to come by.
My point is, if you are in a rush, and feel you need it right now, then it will feel like a grind. If you aren’t worried about how long it takes to get it, then you’ll have all the stuff you need, and more, before you know it.
Maybe they just tried to give you constructive criticism and you denied being helped?
How is calling someone F word and cursing you ‘’constructive criticism’’ ???
Sometimes new players need the F words to start listening. I know I heard my share of profanity in my early days. Think of it as getting advice from your drill sergeant. He might be a giant kitten but some useful advice comes out of his mouth from time to time. Not all cursing is undeserved.
I don’t know about anyone else, but my drill sargent was super cool. He actually sat us down and told us in the second week, that they are required to yell and be jerks, but he believed that such things were not a good way to teach. He was right, I learned more from him being a normal guy and teacher than any of the instructors acting like kittens.
In any event OP. Ignor it. Haters gonna hate. If you are doing your best, following the chosen strategy, you’ve got nothing to worry about. But also try to improve, learn what you can from those not being kittens and have fun.
not new and as it states at the bottom of the mail it was sent from a player and the url is a clusterkitten, I doubt many people will fall for it
You’d be surprised….
There are STILL people who send their information to Zimbabwe princes….I am Prince Nambuwambe of Zimbabwe, and I have sent so many letters and so many emails to so very…very many people. But no one will help me

But I did respond and never got my 1 million USD as promised…
On an unrelated note, I was also a victim of identity theft and strangely my credit score improved.
More than likely a character slot will be available with the expansion. (Except for those with 64, unless they expand the limit.) But no one will know for sure until we get more info. Until then evrything is speculation.

Here is their response to my question.

Ok so I’m sure this topic has been covered many times before, but I am looking for a tank support build for WvW. I mostly do small group roaming/havocing. (flipping camps, an occassional keep, etc.) In a small group.
I’m thinking of going Clerics to maximize my healing potential, as well as be able to do at least a small amount of damage, and remain tanky.
This is what I’m thinking, but not sure about the weapons, or the traits. Constructive input is appreciated. Thanks!
Ok. So I posed the question to CS. In short? NO. Well, I guess heres hoping the one I was looking at is legit….
My apologies, I’m not sure my post was understood. Did you guys read the book? This is established cannon. It’s an actual place in the city of Lion’s Arch, a rather popular place, an an important one for Destiny’s Edge. This is not in any way a dueling system. Neither is it a whole new map. It’s a very specific place within the city where teams are registered and matched up, while a live audience watches and gambles on it. Also pretty lucrative for the winners of the matches.
Just on the bolded part. The only things that are “Canon” are what is told/shown to us in game. Books, interviews, blogs, etc. while do hold more weight than other sources, ultimately what is in game is the only Canon.
However, there are a few arenas in-game as part of the PS. One with the Norn, and another with the Sylvari. (IIRC). While something like this could be cool, as far as making wagers and fighting an NPC could be fun, I think any PvP dueling should be kept in the mists, and in the mists only. There are many people who don’t want it, even in dedicated dueling areas in PvE. You want to duel someone? Start or join a private 1v1 server in the mists and duel to your hearts content.
The question you have to ask yourself is this, “Will what I gain from using this third party software be worth the complete loss of my account?” If you believe you must use this third party software, then you probably will use it regardless of the fact you have been warned it could cost you your account. Just be aware that ArenaNet can and most likely will permanently ban your account if they detect the use of said third party software.
Since GW2 does not support exporting a combat log, a third party DPS meter has to acquire its data either by packet sniffing or (most likely) directly reading the game memory. This is a violation of the GW2 User Agreement. You can read that document by following the Legal Documentation link at the bottom of the forum page. Just to point out what you can search for, here is the relevant section (snipped to show just the specific items touching your software of interest).

My question is whether or not I can somehow contact CS and notify them of my intended use of any software, not to get approval or disapproval as the case may be. But to cover my bases IF the intended software happened to be incompatible with the policy. Thats it.
Is it that time of the week for a dueling thread? I thought these were supposed to come out on wednesdays….
On topic. Yeah not so mucj. No open world dueling, keep it in the mists. You want to duel? Get a private server or a box of fun, or costume brawl. Just not while we are trying to corrdinate teq or something.
I think ‘your line of thinking’ is, unfortunately, just not what truly happens. I don’t think they keep a list of players who inform them that “someday I might do something you, as a company, may disapprove of, and if I do, please give me special consideration”.
Still, you seem determined, so…best of luck! =)
Check out Anets responses on the BBB (the customers are rather amusing too). But it seems they are fairly lenient, and forgiving in their bans.
What about a way to have your account tagged that such apps were going to be in use, to avoid any unpleasant actions?
It doesn’t work that way… unless you have a friend on the inside.
There is nothing you can do. Think about what you’re asking for for a moment. How would that be fair to everyone else? If they were going to allow individuals to get on a special warning list, they would instead publicly announce that they would start banning X the following week. Since they didn’t publicly allow it in the first place however, it will continue to be a gray area.
These basic programs aren’t even detected however, so for now, there’s basically no risk. It’s not until you do something that actually affects the game that it can be detected.
Maybe not a special list, but at least a note in an accounts “file” stating that notification was made before hand, and such a note would be taken into account before a ban is issued.
There really isn’t a way to notify the CS Team and get a pass on using a third-party application that they may not approve of. You can take a chance, but if they decide it is actionable, your account will be actioned. Whether you told them in advance, or not, I am afraid.
If in doubt, err of the side of safety. Don’t use the program.
Good luck.
I guess my line of thinking is that Anet does take these types of things into consideration before issuing bans. It is my hope that if there was prior notification, and a statement of intent, then such things would be looked on favorably before actions are taken.
Also I do not advocate using cheat programs, but only those which conform to the policy and standards. However even a seemingly innocent program can do things in the back ground which may not be intended by the user.

role system abolished Is due to depopulation?
Bias of the role it did not occur function by depopulation in GW1
but GW2 Many people than GW1 has playing
If there is a lot of people. I think I roll system is that it can be performedmany player=DPS+Tank+Healer Consist
no people=can’t DPS+Tank+Healer ConsistDPS is popular
Tank+Healer is no popularRather than remove the Role
I think it is best to eliminate the bias of the RoleBecause there are people who want to do it because if Tank and healer
I want to play a tank and healer in GW2
And you can. There is nothing stopping you. They make certain types of gear and traits JUST for that very purpose. As I said in another threadv "You don’t NEED full dps beserker gear to do ANY of the content. Thats the difference. You can successfully complete all content with full Nomads or Clerics if you wanted to. The “zerker” requirement is established by players, and players only. Its faster yes, but not a requirement at all. Don’t want to use it? Dont join a zerger only speed run. Its that simple. The content is designed to be able to do it without having being forced to have certian roles. That’s what a trinity system is. You need to have X,Y and Z or you WILL fail. However even with a full DPS group in gw2, there are VERY few events that will fail if you don’t have enough DPS and dungeons aren’t one of them."
The safe bet is not to use the program.
While that is the safest, Gaile Grey has stated on several occasions that such software CAN be used but only if certain requirements are met. They wont right out say X app is good or Y app is bad. I’m not looking for that. I am just wondering if there was a way to notify Anet of my intentions before hand, just in case, to avoid a ban IF it is part of the Y apps.
Creating a ticket for that reason is only a waste of their time, especially when they’re currently under a heavy load due to recent announcements. Notifying them beforehand will have no effect, nor will they inform you if they eventually target that program. If you contact them, they will likely respond with their 3rd party software policy and close your ticket.
So submitting a ticket wouldnt be the way to go. I agree, any response would just be met with the policy.

The difference is that they aren’t NEEDED. The main problem with a trinity is that it confines certain professions into certain roles. In Guild Wars, any profession can do everything (of course some better than others). Plus the very way combat works, and the fact the one player cannot hold aggro, makes a trinity system impossible.

What this guy said is absolutely correct.
Nice post pdavis.
High praise!!
Although we don’t always agree on things, I do respect your opinions on certain matters.
I understand they won’t provide an answer. My purpose would be to at least notify them that I intend to use such apps, that way if it is not allowed, instead of a ban, I can just get a notification to discontinue use, as that program doesn’t match their standards.
I am not intending to cheat or anything, but would to have a heads up if I’m doing something not allowed.
