My marauder build is listed in this thread. I honestly find it to be extremely fun, but the current meta needing greater amounts of boon rip is forcing me to play condi or even cele..
Anyway my build has amazing cleave pressure, rivialing that of pre-HoT marauder nades engineer, but with better sustain. In fact the premise of the build was inspired by the current marauder scrapper build thats used on nearly every EU team. Mightstacking through spite, durability runes to have very good sustain/boon duration and blighters boon to gain sustain from the combination of boons you get (including the 3 boon durability proc). I think pack runes can work too, but durability runes are the overpowered esportz rune, so you’d kitten yourself by not taking them. Adding to that, rise enables you to have more staying power in fights.. but less than you’d get as a marauder scrapper. Reaper does have much higher cleave damage than scrapper though, and I routinely get 5-6K soul spirals and 4K death’s charges and 7K executionary scythes.
Overall, this is a very fun and rewarding build to play, its just that condi is better, and teamfight cleave prescence isn’t as needed in this condi/bunker meta. Just don’t even think about fighting longbow/ancient seeds druids or else you will develop hypertension. Trust me on this one.

They’re also in that thread. You sub out GS for staff on the cele build if fighting lots of condi revs.
Also I might add a base necromancer condi build thats a better counter to condi revs and bunker mesmers, but it won’t be able to run reaper.

I’m contemplating to spend more time playing reaper in anticipation of big nerf bats hitting Mesmers and Revs. At least I dont see people crying about reapers.

Don’t chase one guy and leave your teammate on a large team fight at a node. That’s really stupid and annoying when people do that. Sometimes they leave you to 1v3 so they could stomp a thief.
and sticking around doing 2v3, while thief heals back up and come back to 2v4 is great, Got it. OH WAIT.
Is this thread for real? Marketing gimmick team that has a very unprofessional relationship with the company trying so hard to break into the Esport scene. Notice all the real Esport games are community created and Global, featuring Korea, Europe, South East Asia, China, and even South America ETC.
Guild wars 2 NA structured pvp is the lowest population game mode out of all the other aspects of the game. Nothing else needs to be said. Let’s be real for once.

everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Rich people pays crazy money for Picasso’s paintings, while I think they look like crap. You dont like it, fine, but dont tell others what they should like or dont like.
So what would you suggest? Even more out-of-stealth burst? Or more dodges? Or 5s CD steal? Thief is balanced, IMO. Mesmer, or at least chrono, is not.

you’re suggesting going back to the days of thief being a hard counter to Mesmers? No, just no. The issue at hand is with a specific build in sPvP, not the class itself. Making thief a hard counter to Mesmer (again) pretty much revert everything back to pre-Robert Gee trait revamp and make Mesmers not viable in competitive play.
I can sympathize why thieves would want that way because they use to hold that dps spot and pretty much made Mesmers, Necros, Rangers non-viable. Many even told Mesmers l2p. What comes aroaund goes around I guess.

You know how the pro teams can truly help with that? Demand no more class stacking, and add 8 vs 8 to sPvP.
Mesmers survived without alacrity up until HoT. Now it is here and some of these replies seem like you can’t live without it.
If you reduce the alacrity uptime, maybe a slight reduction in the spell’s natural cd will balance it out.
Dang people so eager to recast that same spell again. So 3 less seconds of alacrity. If we math it out, at 1.66sec recharge/ sec, with 3 sec less, you miss out on 2 seconds of recharge. Is recasting 2 seconds later going to break your spells?
LOL, coming from thieves players, that’s just funny. Before Robert Gee trait revamp, most memsers are free kill for thieves.
OP has a very valid point.
There are only a few players who can make thief work and chances are he’s actually hurting his team. This isn’t saying he’s a bad player just the class sucks.

this situation sounds like Mesmers before Robert Gee’s trait revamp, and only few pro players were playing Mesmer and even they admitted it’s hurting the team if they play Mesmer instead of another class. The thief community used to tell Mesmers l2p, I guess they finally have a taste of their own medicine.
AFAIK, there is one eater each for Empyreal Fragments and Dragonite Ore, and two for Bloodstone Dust, so yes, that’s the only one.
And yes, I would hope they’ll bring the Star back for Wintersday this year, since it is the only Emp eater.

For PvE, yes. Everything else from PvP to WvW (large scale, server vs server combat), No. The actual trend is Anet is converting what made GW1 good to another generic PvE MMO with timegated stuff.
We play pvp to play pvp. It’s up to the system to match us with players on our level. If i decide to queue alone, I don’t get queue pops, so what do you suggest I do? Pve? I dont play that. Pvp? Queues arent popping :p. Only way i actually get to play the game is to queue with lower mmr players in my party.
First, if you wouldn’t duo/triple/5man Q before and only solo/duo, you wouldn’t have problem now. You may consider it funny, but Rom or Helseth doesn’t have your issue.
Second, you got separate MMR in Unranked. You can try to play there until Anet fix this and/or there will be more people close to your MMR in Ranked.
So…you’re suggesting that:
1.) Him queueing with friends is wrong and he should limit how many friends he plays with to benefit random players and/or potentially have idiots fill the empty slots in his team.
2.) He should play Unranked which does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to progress leagues to pass time until ArenaNet get their act together?
How is any of that fair?
So how is the reverse fair, for new PvP or less skilled players being farmed by these “pro” team guys just so it’s easier (and faster que time) for the pro team guys to advance.
Is the league system out to punish less skilled players for the enjoyment of the “pro” players?
Get this, if this game mode drives away more players both old and new, these “pro” players can look at even longer que, no matter which tier they are in.
Um..given how f small this xpac was i dont think they are focused even on pve. Just compare the amount of weapon sets HOT gave to the amount of gemstore sets since hot release. Mind blowing really. They are focused on milking players atm.
Really? Clearly the HOT expansion caters to the PvE crowd (4 new maps with huge meta events, raids, etc) this new sPvP is crap, and WvW features they mentioned were left out (since march 2015 according to the ex-WvW lead), how can you say it’s not catering to the PvE?
First 2 pages of the pvp subforum are currently devoid of any dev response, even though they’re filled with legitimate complaints. Anet is so involved with their playerbase.

I really don’t get why so many people have come in here to complain about Sunfish.
I do agree the current state of “soloers being farmed by premades” is bad and that bringing back SoloQ would entirely solve the issue. But that is not the point of this thread.
I can’t really fault people for making teams of 4 diamonds and an amber. All of the people who are diamond right now predominantly play the game to play PvP. As Sunfish has highlighted above, without “abusing” the system, high-division players are forced to endure egregious queue times that even time out. (Even worse yet, all while, imprisoned inside the PvP lobby, literally unable to do anything else). What are these players supposed to do? Sit back for days to weeks and wait in 2-hr queues that don’t even pop until the rest of the game catches up? That’s pretty s—tty for people who do nothing but PvP. They’re literally being punished for being effective. If I was waiting out 2 hour queue times, other than contemplating quitting, you’re DAM- RIGHT I would look for every possible avenue to reduce my queue times, whether the playerbase at large considers it “dishonorable” or not.
The issues plaguing sPvP right now are entirely ArenaNet’s fault and you shouldn’t fault other players for doing what they can to cope with the current situation.
your defense is false logic, if all the diamond players are playing the game mode for PvP as in “competitively”, drop MMR to have faster que time but with opponents that probably way below the skill level is not playing the game mode “competitively”. THat’s call farming. In PvE you kill mobs that are easy and fast to get items or experience, so please stop defend these pro players are playing league now for competition, they are not.
I feel we are need of a nerf. An appropriate nerf though.
Due to the Bunker Mesmer, the meta is so boring right now. It’s a really strong build but for all the wrong reasons.
And in saying this, it’s a problem with the balance of the whole game mode, not just the Chrono, so we probably won’t see an appropriate fix anytime soon.
I’m on board with the idea of Well of Precog giving distortion instead of evasion, so you have to time it right to not lose the point. The build is too easy to play how it is right now.
But what’s the flip side to this meta, to allow Mesmers viable in pro competitive leagues? I dont want to go back to metas where mesmers are a free kill to thieves.
Anet, you’ve said that the queue times will get better once the majority of the population catches up, but that’s so far proven to be false, at least in my case.
How can majority of the people catch up, when the pro and experienced players are abusing the MMR to get lower que time and farm less skilled players.
I know last winter’s day there’s a quest achievement that you can get the item, but is that the only emp fragment eater available?
Do you think Anet will bring this back for Wintersday 2015?
Where in the code of conduct does it say who you can and cant queue with?
Did CoC specifically covered karma gear and winter’s day crafting exploits? Why are average players being banned for those?
It’s been established for a while now that ORNG and TCG are the 2 best teams in EU.
And yet they are not found in the roster. Helseth duo queued to his division.
So why cant these NA pro teams do the same.
EU has 5 guilds on the roster and none are the top 2.
The excuses given by these NA pros are lame. Just reference the other region to put them to shame.
I like how these NA pro team players argue that it’s not an exploit, it’s just a “design flaw”.
I actually run full Marauder with berserkyrie trinkets. You do give up a little power and a chunk of ferocity, but it isn’t all that much and the survivability boost is significant. I make up some of the lost ferocity with furious maintenance oil.

I think the pro players would call it “design flaw” and us average joes will be called “cheaters”.
Thieves don’t need to be the apex glass cannon class and shouldn’t for the sake of class diversity but I think making them a bigger threat to certain kinds of bunkers while making teammates also hit those bunkers harder would not mess with PvE balance while giving them a much stronger role in PvP.
So your suggesting to have thieves be the main counter to Chronobunker, doesnt this sound familiar with when thieves with stealth mechanics owning Mesmers before the trait revamp done by Robert Gee? Sorry, no. As a Mesmer main, I dont want to. Having thieves be a hard counter to Chrono essentially eliminates Chrono Mesmers from being viable in competitive play.
Simple, when pro players do something that’s unintended, Anet and those players call them “design flaws”. When regular players (like those that abused karma gears and winters day crafting) do these “design flaws” things, those players get banned.
I agree that participation progress should be carried over if switching maps, or at least not lose entirely.
Why is mesmer community so self-defeating? This is like the post trait revamp patch back in June when Mesmers openly suggested nerfs to themselves and guess what happened? Anet nerfed traits that didnt need nerfs and over nerf on others.
I actually didnt have that hard of a time with this compared to Sanctum Scramble. But agree that stealth gliding and leaning helps a lot.

yep, and let’s not forget D/D ele, one class that used to rule them all. There’s no perfect meta, and I rather not see thieves back abusing stealth mechanics disguising as skillful plays.
If you check the PvP forums chrono barely gets a mention for complaints, because other classes can manage chronos. With the amount of unblockable skills added to the game even a bunker can be reduced to tears.

I will be shocked if bunker mesmers dont get hit hard on the next balance patch. Whatever they do, I just dont want thieves (or their elite spec) being the replacement for Mesmer’s viability in sPvP.

An easy hotfix would be to make some combination of Mesmer Shield4, Precog Well, and Csplit not have point contribution. (Not necessarily all 3).
Otherwise, a direct nerf to bunker mes survivability would unfortunately screw over the few remaining non-bunker mesmers. I think it’d be better to nerf the bunker mesmer’s ability to hold a point indefinitely via rotating evades and blocks.

I dont understand why celestial, crusader and trailblazer are the 3 stats available for Revenant class. Which one did you guys pick and did you all changed the stats to something else via Mystic Forge?
I changed to zerker shield obviously.
It’s cheap to do so in Mystic forge.
How did you do that? I dont have option to change specialisation ascended pieces stats, doestn work in mystic forge.
Edit: oh this is weird glitch, if i put shield first, insignia ectos and antology are greyed out, but if i put first one of those pieces, i can change stats, yay =)

In Anets defense, it is hard to make “a message from the WvW team” when there apparently is none.
they dont deserve any defense because the fact there’s no WvW team is a decision they made. When ex-WvW lead admitted he hasnt worked on ANY WvW content since March 2015 (while still employed) is a pretty sad admission on how Anet perceives this game mode.

I agree that a lot of the elites are cheesey as hell..However, i won 3 games in a row last night, top scorer in all. All on my humble trap ranger.
It was especially gratifying taking down DH trappers with my regular build.
I didnt know 1 vs 1 exists mode in sPvP, or do you mean all your team mates ALL have vanilla builds and beat the teams mostly with elites?
Build is stronger and better than before!

All I have seen is celestial/durability bunker with mallyx/glint or mallyx/shiro.

I’m doing ds events for some time now to get this rune. By now I’m at about 150 crystalline ores.
Aint 600 ores a very very very little bit to much for sth like a runeset? If it’s a recipe ok, but for runes…
Apart from “farming” the hot-story, where you get 40 in the end, the only way by now is to open pods at dragons stand map. Apart from ~6, they only spawn after map event is completed. This means you need to wait up to one hour to get on a map doing events/ got enought time to start new map, then need about one to 1.5 hours to hopefully finish (seen so many fails last days) it. Now you got a 15min race to find and open all pods. Without a ton of luck this leads to 40 to 50 ores.
So all in all you need to do 15 times the story with different characters, or do 13 times success on ds meta event (without dc!!!). For ds thats best case two days without break dc or fail doing this event. Just for runes…
If they just were buyable, but….
so everything must be easy and less time consuming? I wanted the whole set of auric weapons, instead of farming AB meta events, I use one of my extra character slot, created few 80’s to run the HOT story to chapter 8 to get the ones I’m missing.

i can not understand how the revenant community is suggesting nerfs to themselves that seems stupid and masochistic.
Since HoT I have mostly played several classes in pvp. Almost all classes feel in a good spot right now (maybe with exception of thieves?). Revenants are certainly not the class that make me the most nervous in a pvp match. CC, Conditions and especially boon corruption rip them apart easily.
If any changes do come, I hope they do not destroy mechanics or whole weapons – mechanics of energy management are fun and weapons? we don’t have many of them.
Reminds me those idiot Mesmer players after the trait revamp patch, they were doing the same thing. The end result was anet nerfed other stuff that didnt need nerfs, and then some. I cant believe I’m witnessing another epic fail.
