that’s fine, I am all about retaliation and payback. If any of my mains get gutted, I will make sure the other classes that i dont play get gutted too. Complain often and loud enough will do some damage, what comes around goes around.

I disagree.
I remember game where Abjured was dying like little kittens ;-), yet they won 500-200 or so (it wasn’t Foefire) and it was prefect match to show what about CQ really is and show its weaknesses as gamemode:
-> It’s often worth to die to prevent cap/decap if someone can jump in your place during your downtime (even if you end dead).
-> Because in CQ often rotations are often more important than actual fights.

But going to a gamemode like the one suggested by the OP would become far worse in terms of the effects on quality of play.

And strategic play is a type of skill in itself. Players using a strategy to win a otherwise losing situation is a measure of skill in itself. No-respawn TDM doesn’t have strategic play and really doesn’t involve much personal skill either since matches usually come down to which team has the worst player on it, rather than which team has the best player on it.

I dont think that’s fair, picking the correct target to focus fire in TDM, and for the opposing team to anticipate which member of their own team will get chosen and come up ways to interrupt are both examples of skill and decision making. TDM here is not the same as FPS, each class has mechanics to avoid damage, stun / daze opponents. I fail to see your argument that there’s no strategy involved.

Not to mention, if this mode becomes popular, there will be more meta builds for each class, specifically for players that want to compete in this mode. Just because you dont like TDM, it doesnt mean it’s bad for everyone.

Leveling MASTERIES is a CHORE

Levelling masteries is a chore if you make it.
I’ve leveled basically all of my jungle masteries by PLAYING, without caring, and it was FUN to unlock new abilities and go back where I previously couldn’t.

Of course sometimes I’ve wanted a mastery fast, and I’ve worked on it to unlock it (some occasional Spider farm or COF farm) but it was my choice to speed it up and thus I shouldn’t complain it was a chore, I wasn’t asked/supposed to.

EDIT the biggest mastery to unlock is a lvl 6 one and asks for 4kk+ exp. Pact6 (autoloot) for example. I wanted that one fast, and I went for a farm in COF, loaded up boosters (old exp booster, new exp booster, food/nour with exp, fireworks, killstreak): 2kexp per kill, pack of 12 every 10 secs max = 24k/10s = 2.4k/s.
Every minute is 144k
Every hours is 8.6kk
It’s not always possible to keep up this rate but AT LEAST you should expect 5kk/h.
So use boosters if you farm, 5h for a single mastery is nuts.

Ley Line gliding underwhelming

As an update I did get Highest Gear, the jp in Auric Basin that requires Ley Line Gliding. I’m still pretty unimpressed. Hopefully there will be some ley line highways or speed runs in Dragon’s Stand to discover. I’ve found one, near ley line confluence. It’s short and doesn’t particularly go anywhere.

BTW reward for the Auric Basin jp? 3 aurilium, 3 eph fragments and a blue quality short bow.

Maybe Anet will make this an requirement for raid content…

Maybe the devs are hiding from the WvW forums due to the intense backlash, verbally abusive, extreme saltiness and nasty, unhelpful, non-constructive feedback players seem to be giving them.

As if the dev team doesnt deserve any of those… respect is earned not given, look at many of the elite specialization like Robert Gee that received many thanks for the gamers, same cant be said of the WvW team (if there’s even one in existence). When a dev understands the needs and wants of the community and reflect in their work, that’s when respect and love are given, unfortunately I dont think that will ever happen here.

This daily is no longer possible. Yes, we need to fix the fact achievement still shows up as a Daily. The same is true for the WvW Veteran Slayer achievement.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but your team NEEDs to fix more than just these achievement bugs. The new BL maps are epic fail, and let’s not forget that you guys completely forget the WvW enhancements with HOT release. With the raid contents being thrown around to attract players to the expansion, I can only assume WvW is not getting anything until at least 6 months for now.

In any other game you would have to RNG grind dungeons for gear so you should be thankful that we can grind our masteries in any of the 3 zones instead of a handful of not very rewarding dungeons.

At least when I grind in this I am getting money and materials.

If the mastery system is a hard gate for raids then its no different then any other MMO out there. A big part of GW2 is accessibility, that is the reason many of us play. Those of us who dont have time to grind for hours to get the required masteries cant raid then? Sure put a couple requirements like gliding or mushroom jumping. But to go and put poison immunity or that other bull kitten is just another treadmill but with a different name.

Pretty much HOT has made GW2 like other MMOs, the PvE crowd won. THe fact WvW enhancement were left out at the expansion release is clear enough what Anet wants to focus on. There will be more masteries to be level up as they add more raid contents.

the normal snipers are fine, even with multiple ones in an encounter, but the veterans and elites are on a whole different level. However, even with the crazy damage I still prefer not to nerf them. The new maps kind of promote situational awareness and/or need to travel in small groups. Unlike most of the old maps, you can just kill anything by yourself. Challenge is good, imo.

Even IGN recognizes the outdated WvW server system that leaves us with 3 empty copies of the new map (which we all agree is beautiful).

I see nothing in that IGN quote about the server system, only about lack of players. Come on. There’s a lot of problems regarding WvW right now and they need good discussion, not weird logic.

The lack of players is due in great part to the server system, the old Alpine maps were also empty before the update. Even if they did added waypoint to the new map there is not enough players around to fill them.

Sorry, but I beg to differ. The old BL maps had more players then current maps, anyone that says differently is straight up lying or delusional.

Game mode is slowly dying, HoT was the final thrust. You’re already at what is considered a ‘fight tier’. Anet has been ignoring the cancerous issues in WvW and now its killing the game mode.

yep, the fact Anet left out the WvW enhancement for HOT release should be a clear sign that this game mode is something they dont care for. To add insult to injury, they released the terrible new BL maps. That’s a clear sign the developers dont “get it” when it comes to WvW.

I’m pretty much out of mastery HoT points atm.. You see I hate that anet has locked them behind certain things such as getting gold in adventures or repeating your story over and over again to hopefully complete the achievement which half the time bugs and I get no credit..

Everyone knows what the definition of insanity is and all HoT is doing for me is driving me insane right now.

I agree, why lock master points behind these “optional adventures” for players that dont care for them? Not to mention, adding elite epecialization weapon collection behind these adventures is just stupid.

I’ve spend few hours doing Sanctum Scramble and I cant even get bronze, why does Anet force us playing these stupid mini-games?

The event is on the east side of Auric Basin (Bristleback Chasm waypoint) and happens immediately after you help the exalted guys unlock the 3 pylons for that side.

When you get into an organized map it usually goes down pretty quickly. I’ve seen it happen 3 or 4 times without too many issues.

I was there at the third pylon when it was done, but I didnt see a legendary Vinetooth spawn to eat the sage. Does it happen in front of the east gate after the 3rd pylon is active?

Correct. On the Eastwatch pylon events, right after you activate the third pylon, Sage Korin gets eaten by a Legendary Vinetooth Prime that you have to defeat on a 10 minute timer. The boss needs heavy cc for burn phases and if that breakbar isn’t depleted, it instantly kills a player character and receives a growing damage buff.

The area prevents you from efficiently reviving downed state players because it reduces the effectiveness by half during the fight. So reviving dead players isn’t an option on the strict timer. It’s a little difficult.

I was wondering maybe if we could get a small organized group going for others like me after the collection item? If so, hit me up in game.

They’re trying to reduce the amount of PvE in WvW, and now everyone is yelling at them.

It’s the wrong way to go about it. Find way to make WvW actually fight real enemies, instead of zerging around trading captured keeps with enemies to farm HP scrolls.

People have all the opportunity in the world to fight each other if they want. If they don’t, then it says to me that people don’t want to. They’d rather avoid fighting people for PPT.

The other day I was attacking a camp, and an enemy whose world owned the camp came running up. I turned and started attacking him, and he just ran through to the camp, then ran away to go somewhere else.

I question how much people actually want to fight. I also question what you’d have to do to get them to fight. I guess make it so each person you kill has a 10% chance of dropping a random legendary weapon. That might do it for a while.

perhaps we all have slight variation of what “WvW” should be. To me fighting actual players not CPU AI mobs is part of that experience. Maybe after 3 years I have to admit Anet just cant deliver on that experience and always will try to force PvE into WvW, which explain why the main focus has always been the PvE side of things. Leaving WvW content with HoT is released is pretty much as clear as day on what’s important to them.

Tier 3 (Stormbluff Isle) constant blob?

I’ve been trying to get into Blackgate for quite some time now but with no success. The server is always full. I wanted to transfer to BG because I heard they had a blob going almost all the time. So the next best option is Stormbluff Isle. Does that server and the server’s they face have zergs and commanders going almost all the time?

You dont really want to come to T1 right now if you want real fights with real enemies, past 2 weeks most zergs are trading captured keeps with enemies to farm HP scrolls. But if this is the type of WvW you enjoy, sure come join us.

Start autoattacking-

In Glint stance use f2+all the three utility. Let the energy run out (so the facet will deactivate without using the active, that will put the facet on CD)

Swap to Shiro. Use Impossible Odds (this will put you on quickness with all the major boon cumulated with glint resulting in some very good dps).

Swap to glint when out of energy and repeat.

During this rotation look for good moments to throw in Unrelenting assault (need spike or evade) and axe#4 (need gap close or little spike),#5(need CC).

Pretty easy. It seems dumb but since Rev is quite squishy with this build you have actually time to focus 100% on battle in order to move, dodge, react, like a thief!

I use shield over axe for a bit more survivability.

New maps are trully amazing

Can confirm. New maps are amazing. JQ BL had a que on one the other night, and the fights were great. People actually have to fight now instead of sitting behind tower walls bombing with siege and exploiting LOS ACs. It now takes 2 minutes to get from one side of the map to the other, instead of 30 seconds like it used to. Scouting actually requires an actual form of scouting instead of a quick 10 second look now.

Zergball ktrainers hate it however it seems.

I must be on a different JQ then, most of the ques I’ve seen the past 2 weeks is for EB, maybe few times for JQ BL but usually doesnt last long. On the few times I decided to do something in the JQ BL, you can roam for 20 min before you find some roamers to fight.

Night capping is not that terrible problem in servers that:

1) Have enough population (its really improbable that ALL the guilds are exactly from the same country, making the “playing hours” far more extended)

2) Have near the same active playing population than their opponents (because even if at night you have the disadvantage of 1 or 2 guilds capping your points, AT DAY you have to fight 2 less guilds that are sleeping)

The real problem is in low population servers. They should have been merged long ago.

Do the people on lower population servers want to be merged, by and large? Or do some of them prefer the lower population instead of zerging around/waiting in queues in the high pop?

I think most WvW players have server pride, and If merge is an option, I think they probably would prefer a new server name, instead of being absorbed into another server.

Reboot the Base Map Mechanic & Population

I think you have some great ideas, but I disagree on removing the world servers. To me “server pride” is an important factor, for both WvW and PvE (especially with raid content coming). I think the mega servers really messed things up, while there’s benefit for PvE, but it also created problem where the good maps with good PvE groups completing Meta events are always full with people “taxi” people in. Just as an example is the Auric basic meta events. I’ve been the zone for a week, each day with duration from 3 to 4 hours sessions. NOT once have I completed. MIshi made a good point that mega servers really took down the “server pride” in some ways, for those that do PvX instead of just PvE.

As for WvW being fun, Im on JQ and the fights against human opponents are almost none existent (based on my play time and frequency of logging into WvW maps), zergs are moving from one keep to another simple to cap and leave, let other opponents take it again so they can come back and recap it. This is not fun.

Marauders stat set looks interesting to me. It provides a nice boost to hp without gimping on the dps stats too much.

yep, I think I’m leaning towards Marauder over Berserker set. I didnt even know it’s available until another Rev player pointed out in another thread. Extra HP without gimping the damage stats is a plus for me.

Simply cant understand all the complaining about the DH. I think most of the people simply are used to win against guardians in 1v1 and now that they are competive useful everyone starts complaining, because its no instawin anymore.

Nerfing the Traps slightly would be okay, but True Shot is what makes DH.

For me personally scrapper is way stronger than DH is.

what did you expect, that’s the mentality of the GW2 PvP community. When Robert Gee improved Mesmer few months back, all the QQers are the ones that had no problem with Mesmers before the patch, but suddenly found themselves at a disadvantage. It’s all about “if my mains cant beat it, I will cry loud enough to nerf it”.

swap from zerk to maurader. more survivability more total stats and invocation is more valuable for the 40% fury as opposed to jalis.

Okay, run over to LA on your armorsmith, click on the recipe’s tab, and scroll down. You’ll see maurader insignia’s posted for sale by the vendor. from there they also implimented ascended maurader recipe’s at the same vendor.

Exactly, Anet can try not the say the obvious and hurt some feelings from the free-to-play camp, but to enjoy the latest content and be on the even playing field, you need to upgrade to HOT, end of story.

Seriosuly..They make MUCH better trap rangers than ranger. It’s ridiculous. I literally could not kill them tonight on my own trap ranger…They have extremely powerful traps, including an ELITE trap that rangers don’t even have and then they have all the usual blocks and buffs a guardian brings.

It’s ridiculously op in pvp. Either buff the other classes or tone down the strength of their traps and lb.

DH is an elite class, ranger is not. Pretty simple logic, no?

What people fail to consider is, how Core classes compare to Elites. In most cases, other then Berserker or perhaps Tempest, the Elite is far stronger then the Core.

This is a major issue. Please do not just compare Elites to other Elites, consider the whole picture.

Also, the Celestial amulet is like the Minstrel amulet… ruining the game. I hope for a day when it gets removed or heavily nerfed.

Maybe it’s a business decision? Anet WANTS players both old and new to upgrade to HOT, so they are making the elites stronger. The name “elite” should be self explanatory, why would elite builds not have an advantage over core builds? I dont understand what people are kittening about.

Elites should not be stronger than core classes, only provide each class witth new mechanics and playstyles. That is not an excuse to allow OP elite specs.

Once they’re done selling expansions they’ll nerf it down. No one would have bought the expansion if they weren’t stronger.

Yea, good business decision there, as if the pre-expansion customers are not buying stuff off gem store. Nerfing something that they sold them for will just make them leave the game, which mean less gem store purchase. Thank god you are not running a company.

Why would they care about the free-to-play player base if ultimate goal is make more money for players to move to HOT?

swap from zerk to maurader. more survivability more total stats and invocation is more valuable for the 40% fury as opposed to jalis.

What people fail to consider is, how Core classes compare to Elites. In most cases, other then Berserker or perhaps Tempest, the Elite is far stronger then the Core.

This is a major issue. Please do not just compare Elites to other Elites, consider the whole picture.

Also, the Celestial amulet is like the Minstrel amulet… ruining the game. I hope for a day when it gets removed or heavily nerfed.

Maybe it’s a business decision? Anet WANTS players both old and new to upgrade to HOT, so they are making the elites stronger. The name “elite” should be self explanatory, why would elite builds not have an advantage over core builds? I dont understand what people are kittening about.

you do realise you can quite easily down a player as a moa? especially in a group fight where someone may not be prepared for a moa attack

ah, you’re one of those guys that get Moa’d and just stand there and do nothing? This game will never be balanced around 1 vs 1, I’ve rarely die to being CC to a Moa in a team fight.

Anyone who sits here and argues that a Revenant is balanced probably mains a Rev. They’re not balanced, not by any stretch of the imagination; this also goes for many elite specs though.

Rev will get balanced like everything else.

ah, a thief player, who defends it’s own stealth mechanics and want to modify “reveal” and now come here to make things “balanced” so his class can compete with it, pathetic.

I’m on SBI and I was expecting a huge resurgence of players. I go on today, and 5 people are on commander in EB. BL’s empty except for a few roamers.

is this really it? I was looking forward to GvG’s and full maps, huge brawls, like things were 2 years ago. it breaks my heart. how is tier 1?

Depends on your definition, Tier 1 (I’m on JQ) and EB still fairly active, but most of the time it’s just PvD for exp instead of fighting real players. Honestly, the future of WvW doesnt look good. Why do I want to log in something, join a mob that’s just bashing doors and walls for experience points?

still works pretty well for me, but I think as a community for this new class we need to brace ourselves for a nerf, because I think it will happen, given Anet’s track record.

Staff for pvp ?

You absolutely don’t need a staff as second weapon set. Proven by Celestial builds for example.

so Sword / X is a must, so it’s down to players to choose between staff or hammer. Just checked metabattle that the current meta is staff, and is your celestial builds one of the builds listed under the test section on metabattle?

I wrote guide for Celestial on metabattle and it’s somewhere in the drafts or test, haven’t checked since.

As for meta or not meta – I have no idea. I think it can easily be competitive even right now, surely if Mallyx changes are on the way, but I believe most feel safe on power herald, copying one build.

While it sacrafices a bit of mobility and on-demand quickness for rezz, Celestial can deal with things Power Rev has major problems – conditions, boons, Scrappers and even Condition Reapers while dealing roughly same total damage and bringing utility like AoE Resistance etc.

Nah, that’s not my advice, Many people also got the chest piece so yeah…
My real advice is to follow the schedule of Gw2community and do the map with them. They always get the stuff done, so whenever I need something organized I check their calendar and see when they do it.

Gw2community is euro, does anyone know of an alternative for USA?

I don’t see the OP as wanting a fully unlocked guild hall immediately or wanting instant gratification. What I see is them saying the requirements for some upgrades are excessive.

The fact that he admitted he’s been asking members for donation shows he wants “sooner” rather than “later”. How soon? I dunno. But it’s obvious he wants to happen quicker than the norm. Maybe he can do less “asking” start recruiting more members.

Tarir is perfectly fine in term of balance (maybe the south+west could be easier, and north/east harder), but it’s really enjoyable

I have more concerns for the Dragon’s stand meta event … when a group of 6-7 players are defending a pod, sometimes for absolutely no reason, there is 60 elites and 40 veterans spawning on your face …

Pods are designed to be defended by a small group, so it’s hard to understand those spawning rules, it’s trully random, it’s not a scaling issue, i saw this when we were literally 7 around one pod

How is it enjoyable? I have been on the Auric Basin map for 3 days, at least 3 to 4 hours each time and have yet able to complete this meta event. I think this event needs some tweaks to make it possible to be completed on less populated map instances.
