LOL… I don’t blame anyone deciding to jump ship if they’ve had enough (game mode is indeed in it’s death throes), but hell if I’m going back to that obsolete format.
I doubt they will go the route of monthly subs but then again they haven’t mentioned it one way or another. I do agree with you though. Buying content once is nice. Mythic didn’t start it actually although not sure if that is what you are implying. Few other MMO’s prior to charged monthly. Anyway something needs to yield because the current state of WvW is a train wreck.
No it’s official (check their authorized Wiki. I could link it but not sure of forum policy on linking other MMOs). Camelot Unchained will be Subscription based.
If CU can provide a good WvW experience, I dont mind paying. I rather be subsccription-based than this GW2 HOT bs that Anet dangling in front of us to trick us into buying the expansion when one game mode that we cared about was dead on arrival.

I welcome the new era of higher offense too. I was a long time critic of the extreme bunkers. However, I’m also a critic of the extreme burst. Neither of them are fun to play against.
What ANet needs is a reminder that we don’t want the insta-death meta either.
As if people didnt cry about high offense meta? remember the trait revamp update in 2015 before HOT release?
I was one of those who even promoted thief buffs in the recent meta and personally I think good on them for the BV buff even if a little strong in paper but whatever so was CS.
With the previous nerf to shield+precog becoming an invuln to stop decap, and if they included the current amulet changes along with energy sigil changes plus the implementation of how quickness affects Rez. This would have been balanced enough to not have needed alacrity to be touched, and EVEN IF it did need a nerf a strait 50% cut form its initial effect seems overkill.
I’m glad you got your wish, clearly you dont have the best interest for Mesmers, so why dont you just go back to the thief or PvP forums and promote more buffs to other classes. Are you here to rub salt in the wound?
I’ve said before that even if you nerf mesmer into the ground it’ll still be useful due to its portal, moa form, cooldown reset, elite daze signet, and alacrity. So they have strengths that don’t rely on raw numbers like other classes do. Reaper having spammable chill and boon corruption likewise can be very viable for that reason even if it were to hit like a wet noodle. Daredevil, warrior, and druid on the other hand need to have good damage and/or healing coefficients to be useful.
The boost that will be give to thief pretty much nullify any usefulness of having a Mesmer on team in sPvP. Any +1 fight will just favors thief more than Mesmer, so there’s no point in taking Mesmer over a thief.
So how is shatter mesmer currently balanced? By being weak outside of those things. Too weak to be used at the moment. The truth is it was too weak before the expansion too but not weak enough that you couldn’t take it and reap the benefits of moa and portal. If the enemy team had anything that could take advantage of the fragility of the mesmer (burn guard, thief, etc) and do it well then the mesmer would get shut down and the 2 powerful utilities it brought wouldn’t even be used.
It’s a tough thing to say but it would probably be healthier for the game if Portal and Moa were removed. If this happened there’d be no problems in bringing the mesmer back up to par with everyone cause it doesn’t have these 2 extremely powerful abilities.

Especially coming from a player that mains a Ele that dominated meta for a long time, he sure has some delusion that those 2 elites really made a difference on the competitive level, before the bunker meta is a thing.
Well I hate the nerf but here´s some explanation of what he meant.
If they reduced the alacrity time instead of its power you could simply baypass this nerf by adding more mesmers spreadint alacrity in sync. This way this nerf would only change raid composition (okay guys we need more mesmers) rather than actually reducing the power of the alacrity strategy itself.
And this is clearly an issue because it’s only unacceptable to stack mesmers, everyone else is ok.

It’s totally fine that Burnzerker can do 40% more dmg than other dps role, bring as many as you can while make other dps classes less optimal.
I love(d) alacrity. It makes the class feel powerful and unique without relying on auto attacks and brain-dead gameplay. Unfortunately they are nerfing the crap out of it and a lot of people are claiming this is justified and everything will be okay.
Well I’m a filthy casual (been busy with school) and haven’t gotten to raid. So I’m wondering if someone can explain to me exactly why alacrity was so OP? Is there a video showcasing how it was “trivializing content”?
I’ve tried looking on youtube for record speed kills of all 3 raid bosses and alacrity doesn’t seem to be a huge factor. The uptime seems to be 50% or less in most cases (from the perspective of non-mesmers). And these “speed kills” often end with 1-3 minutes left on the 8 minute timer which seems perfectly acceptable to me… I mean is it supposed to be so hard that the boss can’t die until the last second like a movie cliche where they diffuse the bomb with 1 second left on the clock?
Here’s an important question: At what point do we attribute raid boss kills to OP boons rather than player skill and experience? Are we just going to play whack-a-mole nerfs every time a group of players finds a way to beat the boss?
Or am I completely off the mark? Is it being nerfed due to pvp?
no idea, but from a reddit thread, someone mentioned that Josh Davis made a comment that he was outplayed by a Mesmer recently, and then now the heavy nerf hammer dropped. It seems Anet developers (probably most dont play Mesmers, maybe just Robert Gee), have it out for Mesmers.

Good players always find a way how make their classes viable. Suckers just pick new meta class. Man up Helseth and l2p your class under hard conditions.
He’s continued to play mesmer even before the pre-Robert Gee trait revamp when thieves were a hard counter to the class, you really have no idea to tell a guy at his skill level “l2p”.
Perhaps you dont know the history of Mesmer related to sPvP meta, let’s just say the class never been part of meta longer than Engi, Ele, Thief and guardian for the past 3 years.

thanks to your insensitive comment about Mesmer, I’m glad the upcoming patch will hit ele pretty hard as well. I guess both community can suffer together. The only difference is ele had the journey to be part of meta for a very long time, that’s not something mesmer class can say.

He pretty much made some pretty biased comments in the “Helseth on upcoming mesmer nerfs” thread regarding mesmer, he can join rest of the mesmer community in living with the terrible nerfs in the upcoming patch. Besides, ele has dominated meta for long, Mesmer never had the longevity that ele has enjoyed, you guys really have no place to complain.
So effectively for this meta it was alright to leave warrior / thief / guardian obsolete.
It was alright to leave the cancerous bunker meta in place for so long the fact that they didn’t step in i just outrageous. And this cycle will continue unless they start balancing more frequently. Fixes can’t all be implemented at once you need to do it in several sprints.

Continuum shift is indeed bugged when shattering additional illusion. We’re actively investigating the issue and hope to have a resolution on it soon.

when there are videos of class stacking of other professions killing raid bosses in less than 4 minutes, then you have a valid reason.
Why are people so scared of PPK? It was fun last time! We did not see less roaming groups/havoc groups/fights. It was business as usual, just with added points.

WvW is a game mode that Anet does not care for, just look at all the sub forums, WvW got 1 post from ANet, but other game modes got plenty of attention.
Chrono Bunker got hit very hard with an emergency nerf and it will die rapidly to the constant interrupt from say.. DH or rev. This is a L2P issue.
Bunker mesmer has too many blocks, invulns and evades to be even a L2P issue. This is exact the same when people were complaining about S/D thief in 2014 “SO MANY EVADES OPOPOP” and now its the same with mesmers but seems ppl are protecting it now..
Seems most are enjoying this boring meta.. Sad.

Unless Anet is planning to royally screw the WvW community, the next big release should be the WvW revamp. According to them, they left it out of HOT release because they are behind, given that PvE community got so much, it’s time to give back to the other community that they screwed over.

It’s a rather simple concept really, a nerf there and there won’t magically allow you to beat any player on the nerfed profession and that’s obvious I believe
The trait got clear weaknesses that requires some active thinking out of you, coming here to complain only shows that you( generally speaking) lack that ability to adapt to the situation.
The nerf to this trait, won’t make so that you will be able to beat those eles who murder you already without even using that trait in the first place.
In the end of the day meta auramancer is just a support build not a duellist build and that’s where lots of arguments fall flat against.
Nerfing that trait won’t stop the people who whine now to come once again on the forum asking for more nerfs because they lost yet another 1vs1 against an ele

Since the sPvP community collectively got Chrono bunker nerfed, it’s only fair to nerf DS. THere’s plenty threads and replies to indicate why it’s OP, so I dont need to write the same info again.
A dev i spoke to said they were fixing old bugs of the wvw maps and that we should wait for the mid-late of next year.
I hope that means we will get back orbs

Actually, if you watch any of the kill videos involving burnzerkers, it doesn’t require a perfect environment to do the top dps in the game, it is easily done in a raid setting.
I want to see you doing top dps in the game with burnzerker while running the green circles.
- 2 PS Berserker is in the meta for party buffing(not more as far as i know)
- 2 Revenant is in the meta for party buffing(not more as far as i know)
- 1 Crono is in the meta for party buffing(not more as far as i know, unless you want distortion for 10 people)
Some classes are better in some fights, Necro on sabetha, burnzerker on gorseval, i personally don’t like burnzerker on VG-> BUT if these numbers are true(numbers thrown without the spreadsheet/source has no value), and you can really get this DPS in anyfight, burnzerker will be on meta for unbalanced DPS against other classes, and not for team utility, THAN you need a balance change.
It’s not a versatile build at all.
There are people crying because there so happens to be more than one playable build for warriors so they see 2 ps zerkers + 2 burnzerkers and go “ahhmagaaawwd so much warrior,” and think they’re super OP and meta then search for any misguided way to nerf them.
Just like the condi ranger, burnzerkers aren’t useful in most scenarios. “40% higher damage” is misleading information comparing burnzerker peak spike damage to average/below average for other builds.
As people have stated here, their own spreadsheets show themselves pulling 30k+ average with other builds that are much more versatile with mechanics.
sorry, if there are other videos showing class stacking of other professions that can kill two raid bosses in 3 to 4 min, then you might have a point. But now you are just defending a profession that’s OP in a “challenge” content basically making bunch other classes and builds obsolete compare to this min/max raid build for warrior.
Anet needs to make this happen, for all accessories and back items.
Bunkering shouldn’t be available through invulnerability, that includes evades.
There is no counterplay to invulnerability, especially with such abundant alacrity application.
I guess this makes s/d daredevil even more OP then, since they have even more evade uptime.
The well give you PERMA evasion as long as you stand in it. With perma i mean, no ‘vulnerable windows, while the well is up’.
Every thief evasion skill has a forcast and aftercast. Both of them make you vulnerable.
If a thief uses Vault in the elite well of mesmer (triple CC), he will 80% of times still get hit because of this, even if he keeps spamming it.
Counterplay to mesmer well? Noone. Counterplay to thief? Excellent timing of skills (I admit it’s not always easy). Second counter play: run them out of initiative (no more evade spam usually then).
Ele just need a melee class focussing him a little, then when he’s below tresshold (wich is really easy to reach) you ask on your team ‘condi burst this target plz’. Ele death.
I admit in some team comps with infinite party heals/evades/supports, that Ele can feel to strong. But I think bringing all the bunkers meta’s down a notch alone, would break the feeling Diamond skin is op. No support = Ele can’t keep up diamond = wet noodle against coordinated bursts.

Even Hambow-meta was much less bunker compared to this. And less boring compared to this.
I like to play single target DPS or snipe targets as a thief, but no Anet wants everyone to play bunker and AFK.
You need to make a choice here; either make a chess-game or make a PvP game with specific roles like we had before. Ppl should not be able to fullfill most roles while other classes can not even perform 1 role other than respawning.

I agree that chronobunkers are still a bit too strong vs most builds.
At the same time…Diamond Skin is NOT what bunkers should be. It’s blatantly overpowered.
But that’s the crazy part, more people were crying for Chronobunker to be nerfed than DS Ele, I guess those players all have an ele alt. It’s ok for ele to remain in meta, but not for mesmers. Pathetic community, I must say.

For enrage timer mechanic i think they are a bit op. I mean 40k spike dps with burning/bleeding, jeez. A 3 second cooldown skill that is BETTER then any aoe field the warrior ever had (including the normal bow f1), has more hitboxes then the old one etc. It does even more damage then meteor shower i think (wich is a light armor )class, with longer channel AND longer cd). Also it requires to few effort (imo).
Basically, raids will have to be either ‘to easy’ (atm it sort of is to easy with a warrior, if you can do it in less then half time), or they will have to make them to hard for other professions but ok for warrior. such huge different I would call op (especialy with higher passive armor, and lower skill cap).
Anyhow, even a slight tweak down on the numbers will not make warrior bad, but at least will make the ‘warrior or kick’ thing go away. And it will make balancing future (enraged timed bosses – so probably all of them) easier.
exactly, now with these type of videos proving the multiple berzerker warriors in raid = easy and fast kill, how cant Anet not do something about that? I hope berzerker warriors effectiveness gets a huge nerf, no one class’s presence in a raid (with multiple of the same class) should make a raid content that supposedly be challenging to a joke.
I think the rewards are pretty good. Everyday I do the fractals 2, 10, 21, 40, 56, 60, 67, and the two random ones for the daily chests. This gives me about 15 gold just from selling the trash I get to the vendor. Also since the update I have already gotten an armor chest and a golden fractal skin, not bad for a week of fractaling.

I havent done FOTM in a very long time, but what do those specific FOTM levels mean? Are those providing special rewards or higher % to get some crafting materials?
Those specific levels refer to swamp, duo, swamp, duo, swamp, jade maw, swamp. It’s basically the fast fractals you can do to get your 3 tiers of fractal dailies done.
Ever since HoT specific levels are tied to specific fractals, no more RNG.

How long is long?
Fractals are tiered differently now. 1- 20 (Adept), 21 – 50 (Veteran), 51 – 75 and 76 – 100 (Champion). There’s daily reward chests for completing various levels of fractals, and yes the loot varies accordingly.
As for the rewards, I find that completing all the fractal dailies gives a decent gold reward, which is about on par with what was earned in casual dungeon tours, but with way less actual loot.
The daily chest RNG has been pretty good to me, in the week or so since the update I got 4 ascended chests. Unfortunately, in typical Anet fashion they give with one hand and take with another. Changing stats on an ascended item is a brilliant change, but the downside is that the chest drops now contain a specific piece of armour. I got three chests of shoulders and one coat. Pretty happy with the changes overall, though.

I’d like the see those claiming HoT is not challenging link videos of themselves soloing stuff like, say, some of the Hero Challenges, maybe the one in VB with the Vet Teragriff, pack of wolves and mender. We might learn something.
Even if we do get a poster or two that can do such a thing, it means next to nothing (or should).
Those 1%ers will continue to speed run arah naked while watching youtube and eating dinner only to show that everyone else should GIT GUD & L2P. If only means that a very small portion of the community can do it, it doesn’t mean that they need to make all future content suit them, nor should ANet do so.
As has been said, challenge is subjective but building around only the best of the best will make for a very empty game full of only the elitists IMO.

Changes to adventures should start with :
-removing all associated mastery points from them
-removing the attached requirement to do X,Y and Z adventures for specialization collections
-removing the attached requirement to do X,Y and Z adventures for new legendary weapons
- changes to timers for certain adventures
-insert other changes here

This is not console gaming, we shouldn’t be forced into playing badly designed mini games that contribute nothing to the storyline or the game experience.

There are too many fail safe abilities in the game and I’m relatively sure they’re there to keep the average player from getting frustrated with the game.
Which is why they need to exist. MMOs don’t run on the pro players. Tank the average player population and the game folds. Even as a person who enjoys complex pvp I support their choices on this. I’d rather have what I view as a imperfect system that encourages lots of people to play. Then a complex 100% reaction based system that lets me play with the same 20 people that feel the same way.

Revenant
Mesmer
Ele
Engies4 prof out of 9 in meta sounds alarming to me.
With mesmer nerfs which were huge for bunkering a point we can even foresee that mesmer will sooner or later go out to.Rev took a hit but (maybe I am biaised) the change does not seem to impact the class too much ( less access to resistance).
Are we likely to see 3 prof in meta in the coming weeks ?
With a bit of sarcasm I could say that I am glad to see stacking ele team coming back.
Soon it will be just one, ele + diamond skin will never be touched because it’s so balanced.

Even in CS:GO, which has much much more players in ranked matches, global elite players (max rank) team up with less ranked friends, so they don’t have to wait for eternity in que.
