sadly, all these changes will have minimal effect in bringing people back to play WvW.
The rewards and drops you get in WvW are just TERRIBLE, compare to other game modes. They need to add reward tracks and legendary item just like other game modes to get people to be interested in WvW again.
I haven’t attempted this one and won’t until the massive amount of bugs are fixed.

i did it on my rev without a single bug and now doing the whole HoT story again with my reaper and still not saw a single bug……..
funny how I did it my rev and I experienced bugs, and havent continue since weeks ago. Just because you personally didnt experience it, it doesnt mean the bugs dont exist.
GW2 was sold to us 3 years ago as casual-friendly and less grinds, funny how that’s all gone out of the window when the ex-wow players decided to play the game and demand these stupid things. Apparently time-sink and time-gated in-game mechanics is a good indication of how “good” you are at PvE. BS.
Just to report that I just got bit by this, it’s still not fixed. Anet really do baffle you at times…..

Now that the HoT meta is starting to settle anyone else notice that a handful of elites have become nearly unkillable in skirmish without heavy focus and many of these builds maintain a solid DPS?
Sustain has become too prolific in my opinion at least on builds that can output decent DPS. I have completely stopped engaging Dragon Hunters, Tempests and Scrappers. Any of the bunker Chronomancers also get a pass.
Not sure if this is a good or bad thing but a lot of fights have become an exercise in futility or a bring three friends sort of deal.
I rather deal with bunker meta than a thief stealth abuse meta.

It would be pretty sweet but loot bags might get nerfed as a result. Cant have all these monies running rampant into players pockets, now.
PvE can, why not WvW?
With the raids being implemented, the casual community showed a lot of toxicity and inability to do easy tasks.
Toxicity goes both ways, there are those raiders that think they are better simply because they are doing raids. Many complain raids it’s not because the lack of willingness to learn or challenge themselves, it’s the time commitment. Just because some are having the raid bosses on farming status, it doesnt mean that applies to all. Even if someone’s guild have it on farm, why would they let some new guy join a raid group farming bosses, when the new guy wasnt there in the beginning? There are so many factors why casuals are complaining, calling them all as “inability to do easy tasks” is pure stupidity.
Honestly I feel that those that describe these changes as “amazing” are suckers. Sucked in by a minimal attempt at appeasing the wvw community as Anet has done time and time again.

other game modes you can get legendary items, such as sPvP with the legendary backpack. Anet needs to add that to WvW.
-The number of players who can rally off a single kill has been reduced from five to one. Players will also no longer be able to revive defeated players while in combat.
these 2 were the only 2 bad changes listed.
I actually like this, it forces less reckless plays, and you DO have to care about staying alive to make an impact for your squad/team.

Are you kidding me? Amazing changes!? Other game modes able to get legendary items, WvW cant. How is that for amazing?
here’s my hunch: they want this stuff to be a lot of work so that just buying stuff instead of having something to play for is more attractive.
there, you just said it, “a lot of work” essentially mean the process is a grind. Can we all stop sugar-coat what Anet is doing here? You can say “oh if I enjoy it then it’s not a grind” and all other bs, it pretty means the same as grind. Sure, some people might say they love their real jobs, but it still work.
The PvP community is strange, it’s NOT ok for Chrono Bunker to exist, but quite ok for Ele DS bunker to exist. LOL.
And yet it lost to ESO for best MMO. How unfortunate :/
That being said HoT really is lacking content and a lot of stuff like the story or the fact that we got very few new skins ingame make it seem rushed.

It is still very casual friendly, just not friendly to bad players who are unwilling to improve. Casual does not equal bad player. Even players with a low amount of time can play very well if they desire.
nah, more like casual players that had ton of times to grind. Not every casual players are “unwilling” to improve. AND by spending more time (grinding) and being good (watching other people’s video beating raid bosses and copy the same, LOL?) dont mean these players are more entitled to the game than the casual players. We all PAID the same amount, we are all paying customers, no more, no less.

Are you talking about 1v1 wise? Why would you try to kill a bunker 1v1? You can’t. He can’t kill you either. However, if you want to pressure him into losing the node then scrapper would be your best bet.
by that logic, why did Chrono bunker needs a nerf?

As someone who played bunker chrono A LOT, I love it but deep down I know something had to change. Yeah I was strong, but something wasn’t right. Then I realized, this meta is actually really, really boring.
I think chronos should be allowed to tank in a more balanced way, but in a meta where nearly everything is a tank in tier 1 it becomes stale. It’s kinda like watching 5 AH guards fight each otherthat can do slightly more damage. Slow, repetitive and no variety.
I never really saw reaper or DH as a counter, I could handle them quite nicely. I actually think condi revenant was my best counter in 1v1s. Tempest does have notable flaws including average mobility, but we need more dps professions. We need something that can hit hard, we need our power shiro, we need our thieves, we need our warriors, DHs, etc. something for some variety.
So Chrono Bunker has to take one for the greater good, while other tanky builds are allow to exist, such as Ele that has been part of meta for so long? Good to know…
ehh mesmer is still unkillable. it’s still the most annoying thing in the game to fight.
As I mentioned in another thread, some people will still (and always be) unhappy with the mesmer unless they can insta kill them… Bunker mesmers are not only unable to do any damage but now they can also screw up their whole party whenever they use their bunkering skills… and some people are still unhappy with it.
mostly the thief players. They are not part of the meta now and wish to go back to the good old days that Mesmer is a free kill unless you are highly skilled like Supcutie or Lord Helseth.
Not good enough of a fix to address the issue, this just seems like a cover up to calm the mass and still look out for the pro players to allowing them to keep abuse the system, just slightly less.

People didn’t want mesmers before. Now they do.
You’re operating off a faulty assumption that things were better before, and they weren’t.
PvE was a wasteland for mesmer. You came along for reflects and portal, and that was it.
This, I have no idea where OP was the last 3 years, Mesmers have been less optimal in most game modes and now we are in a good spot.
They need to substantially raise the cooldowns on almost all newly implemented defensive utilities/ defensive weapon skills.
That, coupled with the proposed malyx nerf, would fix pretty much the lot.

Thieves had their days, now it’s Mesmers turn.
Contrary to popular belief over-nerfing is always perferable to under-nerfing. You can always prop classes you nerfed back up if its too much. Everything is being ruined right now by these handful of op builds.

(Not saying mesmer isn’t OP atm, it is)It’s easier to balance classes by tweaking things, than it is with a massive nerf/buff.
All massive nerfs/buffs do is cause huge swings in class popularity, ultimately kittening everyone off.
That said, not nerfing enough is also ineffective, and just kittenes everyone off as well.

Clearly that guy probably never played Mesmer extensively. Pre-HOT, minus few pro players that played at such high level able to be competitive, most Mesmers/builds were not viable at competitive level, thieves were eating them for breakfast, lunch and dinner and kitten on them with “l2p”. Now this guy wants “over nerf” and think ANet will boost the classes back up? LOL.
The CoR change is a step in the right direction but the primary issue is still the damage, which was not addressed. I can still hit 5 people in WvW for 8k+ every 2 seconds with negligible cost. They need to adjust the damage coefficients to something like (1.25/1.50/1.75) instead of (1.25/1.75/2.25) for the 1st/2nd/3rd cascades respectively. The CDs on hammer need to be adjusted because even with that damage nerf it is effectively a necro well every 2 seconds so increasing hammer CDs to x/8/12/15/20+ for skills 1/2/3/4/5 respectively, would further balance it. Contributing to the hammer’s absurdly high AoE pressure are the herald facets and numerous percent damage increases that can all be ran in a single build example. Yes, the example is a glass cannon but because of the Hardening Persistence trait, Infuse Light, protection uptime, Shiro legend and evades/blocks from this build I can do some stupid things that a glass Ele or Necro wouldn’t dare do.
Glint legend facets also need to be looked into to address the damage. 2 revs running the example can stack permanent 25 might, fury and swiftness. Facet cooldowns and durations allow for revs to keep facet of strength on while dishing out max damage and using facet of nature on CD while in combat keep the other boons active.
when scrapper gets some “balance” I will be sure to pile on, what goes around comes around. Balance based on WvW is just laughable, not even Anet will entertain that.
I would love for diamond skin to keep its same mechanic however only apply to condition damage dealing. Having immunity to all conditions is pretty insane.

But again, Anet loves to give Ele preferential treatment, other classes get hit all the time and Ele just immune from nerfs. Truly “diamond skin” of a class.
We need to pool our resources to get this nerfed, it’s long overdue.

Really excited for this, major improvement to the way balance is done. All the changes are nerfs and are being generally positively received which is excellent. Just hope the balance team take that attitude forward. Only QQing because people are complaining that not enough changes were made but I can understand why they were limited at this time.

Or make some pro team friends, ask them to invite you then carry you by facing low MMR players, that’s the best (and shameless) way to advance quickly.

We all know it’s the holiday, if resources are limited, we will understand. This total silence and removing threads just send the wrong message.
Teamplay is diamond skin counter. You just have to burst down the guy as a taem. Before he gets healed. And this is coming form someone who plays diamond skin ele. Eles have great sustain in 1v1 fights, but in teamfights. Just focus them down, and they will run out of heals eventually.
Is teamplay counter to Chrono bunker?

Just had a match where I was /laughed at by 3/4 of my team mates and then verbally abused because I was playing a thief.
I don’t even know what to say at this point. Not only is the balance in this game horrendous but with the introduction of leagues players care about winning more than ever so if you’re not playing a ‘meta’ class, this is what happens..
had the same happened to me on my Mesmer and ranger when Thieves were in the meta (before Gee’s trait revamp patch), what comes around goes around eh?
Anet, just because you deleted the thread “Should ‘pro’ teams be punished for abusing?” doesnt mean we will forget it about.
Stop protecting pro players, be fair, admit your mistake, take proper action to earn our trust and fix the flawed system.
To make this game mode popular you need to please the mass, not the selected few.
And to think, a majority of the problems could have been solved before Leagues started.
How? By resetting everyone’s MMR?
We’d still have the same situation we have right now. Pro League teams would still be farming ruby and diamond solo-queue players. This is just something that won’t be resolved until more people progress up the ranks.

It’ll be interesting what they perceive as being successful. A dwindling casual, none-pro players base that’s being farmed by pro-team abusing the MMR ranking to get fater que and move up the rank faster, dunno if that can consider a success, compared to real e-sport game like DOTA2 and LoL which gets way more frequent and better balance updates to the game.
How do we attract PvE players to PvP? I did Claw of Jormag boss kill today and I noticed there were only a handful of people with PvP division markers beside their names. It felt kinda disappointing that out of the hundred plus people trying to kill Claw of Jormag, only a few bothered to atleast try amber league. It’s bad to be elitist in our little PvP club, we need attract more people in PvP, like it or not, to help it grow. For instance, the more popular it gets, the more resources are diverted to PvP by Arenanet. Resources that could produce more maps, more frequent balance updates, more additional skills and traits, etc. Maybe people are intimidated with PvP. That was what I first felt about PvP in Guild Wars 1, that PvP is only for the hardcore players of GW1. It was only when another guild member escorted me to the Battle Isles that I discovered Random Arenas, and from there, other PvP modes of GW1. While they did improve accessibility and introduction of PvP in GW2, I think people are still unwilling to click that PvP button and try out PvP for themselves. I think we just need to give them a taste of battle to change their opinions about PvP. Maybe include a side story, maybe even a story for each PvP map and include bots as allies and enemies. This would serve as a training tool for players as well as to build up their confidence in battle. Arenanet did this already in GW1, with Zaishen Elite as bot training enemies. Heck in Counter Strike, I used to play against bots when I was new to the game. Even League of Legends and DotA 2 had bot enemies for practice. It’s starting to feel like you guys forgot alot of things from GW1 to include back in GW2?
What’s the intention of attracting more PvE player to PvP? So more pro teams or high skill players can abuse and farm them so they can get their ranks and legendary back piece faster?

I agree with your points OP. Another thing that is baffling is Why are people who have already qualified for the tournament playing in the qualifier? This is akin to Tiger Woods circa 2002 at the height of his powers playing in a U.S. Open qualifier when he already had a spot in the tournament. It makes zero sense.

The point is a Mesmer still can’t tank, and just because at the moment no one has found a Mesmer build that can put out the same burst as a DH doesn’t mean it isn’t still a burst class.
the problem is Anet is so bad at pvp balance that rarely does a class/build of the same role that can co-exist in a meta. Thief was the go-to DPS class due to their stealth, mobility and damage capabilities, and that pushed out other classes like Mesmers, Necros and rangers before HOT expansion. ANet’s vision of Chronomancer role directly contributed to this current bunker meta. But if u take that away, u make an elite specialization total useless. There’s no role that CHrono mesmer can fill because there are better burst DPS class/build out there.
what about ascended armor? Berserker or Marauder?

Give another class a strike that deals double damage on players with alcatricity.

sure, and get rid of stealth from thief class then, since Daredevil u have so much endurance recovery and can dodge often.
sure, you can blame ANet for the match system and the league structure, but these pro players abuse a loophole because “there’s no written rules SPECIFICALLY not allowing that” is just as bad.
But then again, with a limited size of the PvP community, and probably losing players than attracting new players due to the current issues, I guess there’s no point to give a crap, from ANet, Pro players down to the casual players. The game mode might be dead in a year, if ANet cant figure out what made DOTA2 and LoL success stories with frequent balance patch and good system and mechanics that cater to casuals and hardcore players.

Looking at successful e-sports with huge events and prize pools like DOTA2 and LoL, it’s accessible to both casuals, hardcore to pro level players.
Anet failed at creating a proper match system and terrible job at balancing classes and builds in sPvP, which end up cater only to the more highly skilled players and left the rest in a bad spot.
You want your sports events to be popular, you need to attract a crowd of enthusiasts and fans regardless of their skill levels. Currently they dont not care for the casuals, AT ALL.
Why should free-to-play get access to elite traits without paying for it? People still dont understand, GW2 is now pay to 2 play (or pay to win depends on your perspective) with HOT expansion release.
