Suggestion for traps

Give traps an arming time/cooking time, or whatever it is called. When I mean arming time, I meant the cast time for it to be ineffective to effective. For example, If I place a trap under an enemy feet, the trap will last a few second shorter, and it will do less damage. Meaning, if I drop Test of faith under an enemy, when an enemy pass through it, they’ll take only 1.5k damage instead of 5k damage.

This is to encourage players to use traps like traps instead of Point blank AoE spells, but it also gives them a choice to use it as a PBAoE(But weaker!). My suggested arming time would be 1 second. This is enough time to reveal to enemies where your traps are, and it is enough time that you can’t place it under your enemies feet to do massive damage. 1 second is enough time for traps to not be totally useless.

I know some Dragonhunter will come here and say: “TRAPS DON’T NEED NERF!!!!!” But, Dragonhunters will get nerfed, and this is probably the best possible middle ground for both sides. Dragonhunters cannot drop traps under enemies feet for instant win plus, Dragonhunters can keep their massive damage to win. It also means DH don’t get a longer cast time to place traps, so that Runes of the trapper isn’t useless.

For Rangers, it could also mean that the condi damage is more frontloaded than over time. Meaning all traps work like spike trap, they place more condi damage upfront instead of over time.

They will never do this because of one thing: PvE.

When you make balance suggestions for either PvP or PvE you have to remember that both players have to be taken into account because of Anet’s absolute refusal to balance separately (which would solve so many kittening problems).

In PvE you will ALWAYS drop the trap right on the enemy. You don’t set it up and then try to kite the AI onto it. So this solution would never work for that game mode, even though it is a good suggestion for PvP (I would change it to arming time and it doesn’t activate until it is done arming, as opposed to deals less damage if it activates early, but again this will never be made to work this way because of PvE)

Because I want kitten horologicus and I don’t want to spend four hours of my life farming veteran spiders in jaka Itzel to level up the masteries needed to complete the collection.

I mean I’ll do it, but that just takes away from the time I’ll have to git gud with the new specs in pvp.

You will still have to PvE.

Many of the ingredients are locked behind PvE content.

No one is ever in Dragon stand. Any time there is a Organized Dragon stand, it is already full.

Please make changes so that it is more accessible or, remove it from map completion + make it a raid.

Revenant is a great healer when you kill enemies to stop them from dpsing your allies. I mean, Centaur stance is a great skill when you swap it out for Shiro/glint.

Wrong. Deathly Chill is a damage trait. It makes chill do damage.

This WiLL. Remove toxic gameplay from hotjoin (significantly reduce at least), no need to stack teams for a win that gives you nothing. Hotjoin should be for practicing and learning.

This WILL also, increase activity for unranked, which leads to faster queues, funner games due to a fuller rating system etc.

Win, win, win, the way I see it.

And bring more toxic gameplay to Unranked!

I will ragequit, I will be toxic, I will afk, I will disconnect, I will make your life worse if you have me in your team.

It isn’t a threat, it is what will happen if I am in Unranked.

StrongHold plyrs Unchecked Box?

Stronghold is just terrible for the reasons DiogoSilva said above.

You want to know an easy way to make a superior Stronghold map? Remove the cap points from Foefire and change the win condition to killing the lord.

You can even spice it up a bit and keep the mid point but have it spawn a hero for the team that holds it for x amount of time. While we are adding stuff, just put archers on the walls by the gates.

With the above changes we basically have the GW2 version of GW1 GvG.

Obviously some tweaks would have to be made to prevent just zerging to lord down at the start but you get the general idea.

No it wouldn’t be better.

It would simply be even more PvE. Just break the door, and then go for lord.

The stage does not get reset when you retry. Meaning, activating the rift is impossible because the stage is broken.

Suggestion: Appeal to solo roamers

When I log on at night, there is nobody there. I am okay with that if I could do something to help my server win. I don’t want to log on and be bored because there is nobody around to help me capture stuff. At that point, I would just queue in sPvP.

My request is to appeal to solo roaming. If there is things to do for solo roaming, they may stay enough to form a group to capture towers/keeps at night.

My suggestion: Sentries. Let sentries add warscores if capped and held. Just like how camps, towers, and keeps are. Second, add a variety of sentries instead of the same Charr mace/shield sentry. This would help me from keeping me bored if there is truly no one left around. Let players choose what sentry they want to help fit their build. My suggestion for variety:

  • A Mage that isn’t very tough but it has devastating spells like meteor shower.
  • A trapper with traps thrown all around the field, which also reveals enemies.
  • A Charr with mace/shield that stuns enemies.
  • A Guardian with reflect.
  • A necromancer that remove a boon.
  • A Archer with 1500 range.
  • A Thief that can stomp downed enemies.
  • A Mesmer that can generate clones.
  • A beastmaster with pets.
  • Etc.

Why have this?

  • Even the smallest night groups can help their server win.
  • More PvP instead of PvDoor. The enemy is out in the field instead of hiding behind a door.
  • There will be reasons to stick around even if there is no one around. As more players load into the map, they can form a group big enough to take over towers.
  • This can split the zerg. 10 solo players can capture sentries faster than 10 man zerg.
  • This would probably save WvW at the current state.

If there was a better way to appeal to solo roamers, I would choose that. All I want is to log into WvW, find another player by himself and fight him.

I attempted at least 10 times. I keep hearing, “Modremoth didn’t even try to cover its tracks.” enough that it is driving me crazy.

It is very frustrating because the instance is long and I am tired of unskippable dialogue and cutscenes. Fix this.

Chill is a DoT to break bars, you will not get immediate result. Chilled to the Bone and Executioner scythe both have stuns which directly damages the break bar.

In other words, you were perceiving the chill as stuns.

If you’re dying because you don’t have 3 seconds of stealth, then it is probably best that you switch class.

Could say the same thing to you. Want DPS and shadowstep to your dying target to down them? Just get a Thief. Why play Ranger for that?

the Smoke Assault F2 is just more user-friendly. druids right now don’t need more utility. they need more damage if anything.

I’m beginning to doubt you’ve even played Druid.

Not being a brain-storming type doesn’t mean he wasn’t playing one.
… But you got a point. Druid is currently the best unique-DPS buffing aspect in the game.

Spotter (7,5% crit), Frost Spirit (7,5% Raw Damage), Glyph of Empowerment, CAF 15% boosting and out of CAF Verdant Etching glyph interaction (Heal + Empowerment).
And can bring 25 Vuln.

There’s nothing on par with it, yet. Argument of “druid needs more dps” is not really correct.
A PvP cleric BM is something completely different. That’s what I’m currently playing around where burst timing is crucial. That’s my preference.
If I had smoke field I’d be playing much more interesting hybrid s/wh + shortbow blinder. That would be amazing, I have to admit. It’s a pity I haven’t got to play it on live and on beta only.

And that’s the whole point. The smokefield being on the F2 brings a lot more options to the table.

And trade it for the burst? I rather give up those worthless options.

Anyone PvPing in this gamemode is hurting the team much more than people who is PvEing.

Thats because imho Guards should be immune to Player damage as long as they have allied Players around, it’s too easy to ignore Players… and this way you would have to focus Players.

No need to fight. Just hide behind the door and /sit. Enemies can’t hit you. Guards can’t be killed.

It’s strategic to let someone bleed out and not stomp, as long as there isn’t an ally to res, in order to keep them out of the game. Why take away that strategy? I know it’s not fun sitting there, but take that time to communicate with your team on where the enemy is going, or reinforce your plan etc.

I do as a Ranged user and as a Warroir user in pvp its somewhere to hide or LoS , plus honestly i Prefer Fighting on that node than any of the others.

You don’t need the top part of the pillars to LoS.

The reason I like it is because I can chase down enemies that are trying to escape. With a smokescale, I can simply have my pet burst down their low hp as they try to run. It is an assassin pet.

If there is to be a on-demand smokefield, put it on some other pet.

You are fully aware that the pet has this ability, on a shorter timer, all the time with it’s original state as generic attacks . . . right? That is before this change? So, in essence, you’re asking for the pet to be what it was before . . . but better than it is now.

The smokescreen is now casting without your say-so and denying you that burst without any control from you. Again, you know this right?

Therein lies the reason rangers/druids want the smokescale back the way it was: more control over the smokescreen and more teleporting-burst DPS.

I am aware. But it will not use Smoke assault when I need it most. I don’t need Smokescale to use smoke assault when the enemy is on the cap point and is healthy. I need smokescale to use smoke assault when they have low hp and running away and is out of LOS.

the jungle may require an adjustment in gear and playstyle.

I am also… neurologically challenged… especially when it comes to depth perception. most things in this game, I can learn over time, but the new zones are a special kind of challenge for me, yet I am able to tackle them. So, maybe try new ways (build- gear/skills/etc. – some fights are difficult when not at range) or get some guild mates/friends/find a group of people in the world to follow?

So what you’re telling me is that there’s a holy trinity now and Anet did a complete 180? I now cant play as anything other than a tank?

You can’t play anything other than tank because you are purely unskilled for berserker gear. Use nomad gear for your training wheels.

Hi Runeblade, i don’t want to say it but i’ll.

You are not experienced, that’s why you demand this changes to stay.
Please learn to use your pet. And you’ll see that even with F2 smoke field, you CAN use assault on demand.

Smoke field has a cast time.

By the time I finish casting Smokefield, the enemy already escaped. Smoke assault is instant and reliable.

I am still not sold.

PLEASE DO NOT SWITCH IT!

Instead, make a new pet with a smoke field.

I love the F2 change. It allows me to have my pet chase down low hp enemies that are trying to escape. Do not switch it!

"Elite" specialization fraud

Why would they be called “elite” if they weren’t stronger?

Elite:A select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society.

I fail Engrish though.

They’re elite in the same way skills can be elite in GW2 and were elite in GW1. You can have only one of them equipped at a time. They’re “superior” to normal specializations in that they grant access to equipment and skills not normally available to the class.

In GW1, Elites were stronger than Normal skills. Builds were centered around elites.

I cannot advance the “Torn out of the sky” story step if I choose to salvage parts for the survivors instead of saving sylvaris with Laranthir. The story step doesn’t advance when I get to the Sylvari that got brainwashed.

This is after I did that story step once and tried to the qualify for the saving the sylvari achievement

I think this is better off for Personal housing instead of Guild halls.

I feel sad about Faolain more than Trahearne.

The moment when Faolain talked about Nightmare Court wanting freedom, I wanted her to be an ally so we can learn more about the Nightmare Court.

Complaining about being unable to solo something that isn’t meant to be solo’d.

Yes, I am complaining because it is bad design.

Difficulty =/= Bad design,

Solution:
“/map LF people to help with X challenge please and thank you”

If it aint broke don’t fix it, the time limit keeps you on your toes, makes it more exiting. this is EXACTLY the kind of content myself and most other GW veterans were after.

No more nerf plz Anet, despite minor bugs, HoT is challenging and FUN

The mob design is there to keep it exciting, not the time limit. The time limit is broken and should be fixed.
