it’s not like we follow random commanders around.i follow my guild leader and if he isn’t on i follow the ones i know. all the others i ignore. i’ve seen a ton of commanders and a lot of terrible ones, that’s why u squad up. i wish though guild leaders were given a private one that only guildies could see for ninja’s.

well the problem with that is, that u wanna check it out with the armor u are wearing in pve and wvw and not the spvp one and also with your current armor dye. i coulnt either and now i got a graphical bug with it and wasted my profane gloves on that.oh well at least i can make them invis.

yeah the only gloves that work with it are the ones that don’t cover the arms but only the fingers, like profane. i also think the radiant gloves are a little too bright…hmm or maybe if i could dye them to a different tone like purple and the glow would be more in that color it wouldnt be so extreem.

i feel your pain Hanh
as a wvw player i barely play spvp….well only when my guild has a drinking night we go to the mysts. so yesterday i played spvp (not drunk) and had lots of fun even though the engineers and thieves destroyed me.
when a warrior joined our match the fun was over. he kept yelling at me how op my class was and how kittened i was for using moa and that i cheated with infinite blink(which i dont even use!!!). i had 1 invisible skill decoy and he was like yeah permastealthy b…. and he kept complaining how terrible mesmers were, but kept charging me in the same way over and over. all i pretty much did was running a circle around him and i use staff so i phase retreat a lot. cant wait till he comes here and makes a post too.

believe me engineers were able to lock me down quite easily and i kept dying, but this is part of spvp. at first u will die a lot until u got a build that works and it also depends on the team effort. i hate being yelled though, because i got clones and 1 guy manages to hit everything but me!

so what im trying to tell u op, is that u might wanna get to know a class first, before screaming nerf or making statements that arent true! wait until u get locked down by engi and chain stunned by thief, see u crying at the other profession forums!

aoe cap is not the real issue here

i think the whole balancing is making it a zergfest, as anet wants to boost spvp and started balancing it with wvw, because they didnt wanna spend time to make a separate balance for wvw. now we are stuck with stuff like 1 block attack that hits 1 enemy with 5 stacks of torment….very useful for big group fights and on the other side the necro and thief meta.

actually i think confusion is an excellent condition for a mesmer.i mean it makes sense, but unfortunately it got hit with the nerf bat quiet hard. it needs a serious buff as it is the only condition we can deal reliably. random conditions is just not helping enough with the current meta.

@ selan First learn how to read so that will explain the confusion, second the fact that I can accomplish that build (while using it effectively) and you find it impossible where as mesmer isn’t even my main class leads me to believe you need to learn more about the game mechs. Also I run full carrion top level armor with 5 legendary weaps (D/D P/P and SB) with a Major rank. (And I’m a casual WvW player cause I like having a life)I never complained about the damage of the thief, and I sympathize with your kitten feelings about the nerf for the mesmer, honest. Also for the record bleed thief is a joke. I don’t even consider it a condition build. Honestly impo Anyone who gets killed by a bleed theif/ One shot thief/ or cloak and dagger thief needs to get a better understanding of the game; with the exception of course of certain classes and being caught off guard. (Although that doesn’t apply for the one-shot build(honestly shouldn’t even be called a build) because if they catch off guard it’s a simply as evading and healing) annnnddd I’m bored so I’m prob. not coming back to the thread lol

uh never aid i find it impossible,did i? no i don’t thinks so.and im not talking spvp here or pve. im talking wvw which u don’t play often so thats why we misunderstand each other. and bleeding wvw is quite effective with food buffs and all that. i don’t get killed by bleeding thief in spvp, but in wvw when your cleansing is on cd bleeding can be a problem.
and yes u get hit with 8k backstabs by class cannon permastealth thieves, doesn’t one shot me as my rabid gear makes me a little tougher, but the burst dmg in wvw by thieves gets really high.
i agree that if thief was given more cond dmg there would be more viable builds out there. same with mesmers though as confusion is our only condition we can spec into. bleeding is very little and torment..oh well only in a 1v1 situation.

a condition build for the mesmer?that is stronger than a bleeding thief?u kidding right?mesmer has after overnerf of confusion nothing left!torment is only triggered if u block with a scepter and get hit. confusion is hard to stack with the bb nerf and last not very long and is way less triggered with the bb nerf. toughness build for mesmers are also not that strong.
2 skills with 16 stacks 7 is a lie even before the overnerf! i wouldnt even get u 7k with 25 stacks! i got maybe once someting high as 5000. most of the time the ticks with 16 + stacks are around 1.4 – 2.2k. engineers could stack confusion way quicker than us and deal maybe such high numbers, not mesmers!
also to get 16 stacks a mesmer has to use multipe glam fields and hit u with scepter 3 for the full attack.all of that can be dodged. u are a thief, so stealth and back off for 3 sec and u are back to 6 stacks not 16.

u might wanna get to know the other classes first before whining about thief being up.once you are level 80 full exotic gear go to wvw(not spvp) and check out what dmg u can do. there is a reason why people qq about thieves all the time.

pve though u guys could use a buff.

yeah a big part of me having fun and playing wvw died with the confusion overnerf. every time i see those ridiculous low numbers from confusion ticking, i wanna ragequit. i get hit with freaking 10 stacks of bleeding and bleed to death. confusion doesn’t last as long, doesn’t stack well anymore, doesn’t do dmg and is just painful to watch with my 1700 condition dmg.

it seems like anet is trying to force me into a dps build for wvw. they not only destroyed a build, they stepped and kicked condition mesmers when we were already down.
we need new ways to apply conditions, not random stuff that maybe applies 1 condition at random, not torment that only triggers 25 percent of the time.

looks like anet only balances for spvp and doesn’t wanna spend time for wvw balancing! people cry about confusion, so anet destroyed it. people cry way more over other things for other classes, anet ignores it or even buffs it.

i am still using rabid gear and trying to make it work with the current build. i hate having to work so darn hard to make a condition build work.

Mesmer. ANET has given it no role to actually play and every time a good build is devised, they nerf it in to oblivion. It’s the one class that always seems to suffer some form of nerf every patch, which seems to come off the backs of everybody who complains about it on the forum.

agree with this, we used to be able to choose our playstyle. after the mega nerf of confusion, then retal, then all the changes, it makes it very hard to play the way u want. i like cc and conditions, but also interrupts, but anet fails with their changes. torment in wvw is a joke, most of our abilities are now 1v1 based and a lot of us play wvw. I am not a dps kinda player, that’s why i liked glamour /confusion so much as i dealt no dmg apart from confusion, but anet nerfed it into the ground of the grounds.

balancing wvw and spvp the same way is a huge mistake, not only for mesmers, but most of the other classes too. that’s where anet failed the most!

1. Using a wider FOV is not a hack. It is the solution Anet implemented for multiple monitors.
2. Where is that AC you are showing hitting. I dont see the red circle of it’s attack anywhere, much less somewhere it shouldn’t be from that placement.

sry but i know that commander and he does not hack!plus yes with multiple monitors u get a better sight. everyone knows that.before accusing u should maybe ry to listen to what we gotta say and FA does not support hacking. we report hackers ourselves, we dont take portals if a hacker presents it to us and we report anything suspicious. if u got a problem get in contact with the guild!

Using eyefinity to achieve a wider FOV is allowed by the letter of the law. However, utilizing that wider FOV to fire an AC somewhere it otherwise wouldn’t be able to reach is pretty much the definition of an exploit (even though you will almost certainly not get banned).

People who can afford multiple monitors shouldn’t have such a massive game advantage, that much is plainly obvious. However Anet seems unable/unwilling to change the way multiple monitor set ups alter the FOV so feel free to keep holding that false moral high ground!

well i don’t agree with that either that multiple monitors do that, but it’s not an exploit as the user does only see this kind of view on his monitors! exploits are intentional, but i this case the game looks like that on 3 monitors, because anet made it that way..
so waht do u want people with 3 monitors to do?do they have to calculate how much the regular screen sees to know if he is allowed to use that ac that way?it is what they see and not an exploit!
and calling it false moral is typical trolling. we do not accept hacking, period. if u see hacking speak to their guild!

If this is such a pressing problem then maybe when you enter a jumping puzzle all skills should go away… like that super fun box dungeon thing. It would make for an even playing field and no one can complain.

nope sry, but i also use my portal as insurance so in case i fall i get another chance.if portal gets removed, i wont do jp’s anymore as i suck at them and take very long.

i think it is too weak for wvw. it won’t get triggered most of the time. i would love to be able to use torment more often, but like this its just luck and the other classes that have it can apply it in way better ways. there was also no need to reduce the dmg of the vlock attack as torment barely gets triggered.

Crap. I don’t feel less satisfied when I complete a jumping puzzle while others bypass it, because having completed the puzzle is the reward that makes me feel good, not some achievement or chest at the top. If they don’t want to do the jumps, I don’t force them to. If they ask me kindly, I’ll offer them the service of porting them up, and everybody’s happy. Except you, because others don’t do what you’d like them to do. And that’s unsocial.

Personal achievement only goes so far. Part of human nature is wanting what they achieve to be acknowledged and appreciated by others, and allowing people to piggyback on others and still get the full reward that claims they defeated the challenge, greatly devalues that element.

it doesn’t devalue it. u did that jp by yourself and didn’t get portaled up so u accomplished that puzzle, not the person using a portal.what if i suck at jp’s? it’s not my strength so i will never be able to get achievements or world completion, because u wanna remove the portal. u don’t like that someone can get something easy?your reward is that u did it the hard way. so let it go dude. it is selfish to expect everyone to play the game u want it to!

ok guys this is getting ridiculus! EVERYONE is allowed to play the game the way they want. so if u suck at jp’s, but need them for monthly and all that, why is it game breaking if someone jumps up there and portals u up?
i suck at jp’s it’s an ongoing joke in my guild even that i cannot jump very well if i don’t take my good time with it.

i think it’s a good thing that people can be portaled up if they cant jump up there. i like that people work together and help eachother out. the other day i finally managed to get up the eb jp and saw a guy seriously struggling with this 1 jump, so i went down again put a portal for him and he was super happy. so how is that a bad thing and destroying the game?

well like u said u came here to provoke, i see though that u would like others to give scepter a try, but u know there is a french saying “c’est le ton qui fait la musique” which means it is the tone that makes the music and u came across arrogant and quite rude. provoking to change peoples mindset can work, but u gotta make sure u are being respectful while doing so. this thread sounds much better and is open for a constructive discussion.

i agree with u that mesmers that haven’t tried scepter out, should give it a shot. I have been using scepter for months now and still love it. it does take a little time though to get used to it, if u swap over from gs or sword. it;s 3 attack seems to be bugged a little though since last patch, I’ve noticed it doesn’t inflict confusion anymore.

Ahh yes, an MMO finally lives up to the challenge of producing content faster than players can consume it, and someone still manages to complain…

Idisenchanter is a underlooked but very good condition removal tool, since the phantasm HP buffs. It has a better uptime of removal in the instances I’ve used it opposed to Null Field. No combo field though, sadly.

i disenchanter is a great tool that’s correct, but in wvw it dies very quickly. too much aoe, marks, wells, arrowcarts and all that. but yeah i would go with nullfield as it also rips boons from enemies and cures your teammates

Another nerf to Confusion?

I think you raise a valid question about the confusion changes, but I think your subject line and description of a bux fix as “another nerf” to Confusion muddy the issue. I think there are some good questions, though, such as:

  1. Was the issue identified before the damage on Confusion was reduced?
  2. Were these instances of extra damage excluded from your analysis of the damage of Confusion when deciding to reduce its damage?
  3. Is it possible that Confusion’s damage output was artificially inflated in anet’s analysis by this bug?

1 im sure it was they just havent gotten around it before
2 im sure they overlooked that (while being busy figuring out how to buff the thief)
3 im very sure of that too

wvw and spvp has to be separated!in wvw confusion used to be viable and good in lager group fights.
now with 50 percent less dmg, the bb nerf and the script fix(and that should have happened wayyyyyyyy before and not after major nerf!!!!) confusion is a joke!

u need cleansers (we got 1 commonly used in wvw =nullfield)
u need more thoughness in wvw if u hit zergs
u need conditions (multiple targets, not just 1) in wvw
u don’t need the new nerfed clones in wvw as they die instantly
u need aoe
u don’t need skills that randomly apply a condition, u need reliable ways to apply them, like glam
u needed blurred frenzy the way it was (for those who like mh swords)
u need speed buffs as there is a lot of running arround on large maps going on
u need to survive ac’s, ballistas, oil, cannons. mortars, catas, trebs, guards(darn archers) and 25-70 players

….sooo yeah spvp and wvw should be balanced differently.

and while you are at it, how about making it more useful in wvw. 1 block, that fails often when hit by another target and then 1 target gets hit by it….not good enough for wvw. I play a lot and since the patch i’ve barely seen it applied

but anet seems to balance everything around spvp and wvw is the one that really suffers with it. give us our REAL conditions back and separate wvw from spvp already, they are not the same!

yes, i want confusion buffed again and now that it’s fixed with the script and the bb nerf, time to bring it back.
i don’t like dps builds, i like conditions and cc and like to be able to interrupt, slow down and confuse zergs in wvw…err isn’t that what the mesmer was supposed to be like?

i rolled a mesmer as i liked the idea of confusing and fooling the enemy, interrupt them and weaken them, or punish them for mindless zerging. i cried sooo hard when they destroyed glam builds and made confusion completely unviable in wvw, the only viable condition of a mesmer and now they are giving us 1 condition, that is not an aoe, only single targeted and works through a block. and conditon builds di thake a hit too with the bleed change.
i play wvw, but there anet also absolutely fails to balance wvw correctly. what is strong in spvp, doesent mean it is strong in wvw aswell. the clone change is a big one as we wont be able to shatter them in massiv aoe and arrowcart rain.

thanky pyro for listing the good stuff too, but yeah this patch seems like a mesmer eliminator and less and less viable builds for wvw. i want viable builds for wvw and not a 1v1 thing as it is useless tome i fight zergs of 20-40 people!!!

Increased the phantasm base hit points by 55% in PvP and WvW.
Increased the phantasm base hit points by 270% in PvE.

I feel like this needs the whole story.

Signet of Illusions: Decreased the bonus hit points to clones and phantasms to 50%.
(From 200%)
Split the hit point values of clones and phantasms by game type:
Increased the phantasm base hit points by 55% in PvP and WvW.
Increased the phantasm base hit points by 270% in PvE.
Decreased the clone base hit points by 25% in PvP and WvW.
Increased the clone base hit points by 28% in PvE.

If I remember correctly, Phantasms currently only have a base health of… around 2.5k or so? I know the iDefender has much more. They’re generally quite fragile though. kitten increase of “not a lot” doesn’t exactly make them immortal engines of destruction. (The PvE adjustment is pretty nice for dungeon-runners though)

Bummed about the Clone health reduction in PvP.

The huge retaliation nerf for phantasms pretty rough on them too:

Vengeful Images: This trait now only applies retaliation for 5 seconds when they are created and does not persist after that.

The retaliation was previously permanent. Blah.

clones already die extreemly fast in wvw. now they will pop and die at the same time. ANET separate the kitten spv from wvw already!!!!!!!it absolutely makes no sense what soever to balance them the same way.
spvp=less people, fast gameplay, no massive aoe, no massive conditions that are applied within 2 seconds, no siege = different builds

wvw=massive zergs, massive aoe, massive conditions, tons of siege, need aoe, needs conditions, needs to be able to interrupt multiple people. torment will hit 1 person and 1 only out of 20-50 man zergs!!!start balancing around massplayers aswell!

looks like 4 people can keep whining and anet changes it right away, because those 4 are thieves and thieves should never have a reason to cry. but what bugs me more is that most of those qq’ers cry because of spvp and anet fails to separate the 2 spvp and wvw. most of the builds that are very strong in spvp don’t work in wvw ans clones, phantasms die way to quickly in a zerg with tons of aoe and arrowcarts, and mortars and cannons and trebs.if they would separate these 2 things would be diferent and they should be separated!

loks like the devs all main thieves and none of them plays a mesmer…..they keep overnerfing everything. and in wvw we need viable builds that attack multiple targets and not broken phantasms, not random conditions that only apply sometimes, not mantras and a moa that hit 1 target and i like to be able to pick my playstyle (which is more like a glam build, than a sword build. if i wanted a sword build or dps build i would go for a different class)

Hello everyone,

am I the only one that misses the old mesmer? I mean, mesmer in gw2 is fun and all but it just doesnt feel like mesmer anymore..

I really like confusion because that resembled a little bit the old mesmer. But since the nerf I actually dont find it fun anymore. The mesmer in gw1 really punished enemies. Backfire + Empathy totally shutdown a caster unless there was a monk to remove the hexes and people here complain about a lousy confusion stack that does not do nearly as much dmg as backfire+ empathy…
Or the interrupt mesmer. God that was fun and it took so much practice to be good at it.

I just miss disabling people =[

omg yes i like this kind of playstyle a lot. i dont want a dps build. i enjoy interrupting and reflecting and i also like to stop a mindless zerg from steamrolling everything. it has gotten more and more boring for me to just have a build that can maybe be ok in a 1v1 situation, but is not good for wvw….but anet likes to dumb the game down, so the new players don’t have to think…thank god my guild leader is epic and comes up with the coolest builds…

Again, and again, and again the same question. Have you read the tons of posts with the same question before post one more?

Mesmer is the cheapest class in this game. Ai deals most of your damage for you from range while you have short cool down teleports as well as in-vulnerabilities. Not to mention you can also stealth.

To the argument you can’t stealth much…. You can easily take torch, decoy, mass invisibility, and the trait to cloak at 25% to have a pretty decent up time of stealth. This isn’t including the benefits you gain from using stealth if you trait right. I have tried this in sPvP going with a retaliation spec. It is insanely easy to kill people with and still leave the fight with >75% health. Elementalists will kill themselves in a couple of skills just from the retaliation damage they will receive by hitting your clones/phantasms. Not to mention I have constant regeneration/protection (at least 50-75% up time)/other boons as well.

This is not a case of people claiming something is OP and it is some mediocre thing. This is not the “Beta Warrior” phase where no one knows how to dodge. The Mesmer is by far one of the easiest classes to do well with. Stand at range and use skill 4 with greatsword + 4 with offhand pistol will kill a baddie. Against a decent person, you might have to shatter a couple of times. Against a skilled person you have to pay attention somewhat to win.

The Mesmer class is a problem and is stupidly strong in the current version of the game. The majority of this Mesmer forum will down play this so you can stay on top. It is understandable I suppose. It sucks being on the bottom in terms of power. Try playing a Warrior in sPvP and you will see where skill comes in.

i don’t use decoy
most people do not use torch
i do not have a clone on dodge

u guys want nerfs over and over and forget that your crying affects wvw players wayyyyy too much. a warrior is pretty strong in wvw and a roaming thief pretty deadly, so yeah lets seperate spvp from wvw a little.
in spvp it is easier to go for power builds…when glam was still viable in wvw i went to spvp with the same build once to try it out and it is not viable at all.
if u take a phantasm mesmer to wvw your phantasms die very quickly in a zerg and with all the siege.

i agree with u that in spvp mesmers are very very strong, but in wvw u cant just choose the same utilities as in spvp. its almost a must to have nullfield, for the cleansing…if 20 people are attacking u, retal will not save you if u dont have people with u. the confusion nerf down to spvp level was pretty much the kill for many many viable wvw builds. not everyone likes using power builds…i prefer conditions, cc and punishing mindless zergers….

yes, anet doesn’t understand that wvw and spvp are a whole different gameplay. in wvw u face huge zergs. confusion glamour builds were viable and a good way to counter a large group. i think in any game when u pick a class u should have the choice to make a viable build and playstyle u like. thieves that like tio permastealth…oh well thats what they like. and i like punishing people for mashing buttons and zerging. plus confusion stacks never lasted long. u could reach 25 with multiple glam mesmers, but those dissapear quickly, so all a zerg had to do, was backing off real quick, wait 2sec and rush back in.
I agree though that confusion should not be triggered by healing or dodging skills.
now with the bb trait nerf and the 50 percent, condition stacking and dmg is almost a joke. the bb nerf would have been enough already. i know there is our new condition on its way, but only being able to use it with 1 skill alone is still not enough to back into cond. spec….but its a step in the right direction as i looove to interrupt, cc and punish mindless playstyles.
