The issue, as I keep saying on these forums, is a broken matchmaking system. Premades should be facing other premades. It makes no sense for them to fight against pugs.
I’m still hoping ANET does the right thing here and scraps the new system. It is horrible. The old system definitely had some flaws, but no where near the current situation.
The daily is a bad idea. It has been since the start. Unfortunately, only ANET can change it, and probably someone there actually thinks it is positive.
VOIP is NOT needed in regular matches. Why? Most people won’t even use it.
Now, as to the issue of premades fighting pug teams, that is just an other example of the failed matchmaking system that we currently have.
ANET definitely messed something up with the latest patch. The lag has been horrible. Did anything change other than stability?
Not encountered a cele engi that can beat my gs war yet. In fact its beaten every turret engi I’ve dueled this weekend too. Lol.

It is mostly my personal experience… I got no clue as to what my MMR is, so I just think it is “average” – it is what I expect I am anyway… Everything in this thread can basically be deduced to “When I solo, I will lose”
If your Queue times are usually:
2-4 minutes = Average MMR
7-10 minutes = High MMRPeople get 2-4 minute queue times? I want. Please.
Also, I generally don’t like to PvP unless we’re at least a 3 queue or more. I find anything less is sort of like a slot machine.
I find that it depends what class you play as well. If you are playing a popular/OP class like Engi the queues are longer. Same thing if you are playing one of the 2 daily classes. The worst queues come on day when someone plays engi AND it is the daily class.

Meteor storm has always been incredibly strong. That said, complaining about this is like complaining that a Mesmer can just drop a port and insta port back and repair their treb.

You are correct around some things and wrong about others. Things like the invisible bug are temporary and aren’t going to kill things for people.
What DOES kill things for new people.
1. Lack of a balance team. They update stuff so infrequently and when they do, they don’t fix the main issues.
2. Horrible solo experience. Yes, it is about a team conquest, but new players don’t start with team. They soon learn it isn’t fun to get wrecked by premades.
3. Poor matchmaking. Very closely tied to the previous post, but the matchmaking is not very good. It is definitely worse than it before the new system.
Those 3 items are what will prevent the growth of the game.
You were favored in your first two matches, so you lost one point in both. The third match was even, but you got over 400 points so your ladder points didn’t change. This is working as intended, but it sounds like you think the match prediction should weigh premades more versus solo players.
If you think anything about this new system is working as intended…..

The lag has been really bad lately. Whatever ANET did to create the lag, they need to fix it. It’s really unplayable at this point.
I’d actually prefer the leaderboards be removed. How could ANET not have known that the new test was going to fail before it started?

You must not have had any 4v5 in unranked. I just had a 3v5 in ranked yesterday.
1. Revert back to the previous matchmaking system. The current system is a complete fail.
2. Either remove the leaderboards or make it MMR based.
3. Actually release balance updates more frequently.
I think the raging is in part because of the poor matchmaking. It is not fun getting stuck on a team with others who are either way better or way worse than you. It because even more horrible because the two teams are likely not very balanced.
Bad matchmaking = bad community
When is ANET going to wake up and fix it? The old system was much better.
I think pretty much everyone realizes that the new matchmaking system is a complete failure. I definitely used to get a lot better matches previously.
I’m still holding out hope that ANET will admit the mistake and revert, but maybe that is expecting too much.
The problem is an OP class combined with it being in the daily today. You’ll see more engis than usual today.
Hopefully at some point ANET will figure out what most others already have… the profession daily is a bad idea.

ANET, please have someone actually think about the leaderboard changes before they are made. If someone doesn’t have time to think about it beforehand, then just remove the leaderboard all together. It is horrible.
your team squishy no meta vs meta high survivability. it’s a default lost game for you. unlucky. nothing you can do about it. maybe if we get solo queue so both teams are 100% sure random non premade players.
Maybe something if the system check for player class and traits and only allows something like 2 melee dps 2 ranged dps + someone that can fill the bunker role for both teams.
and maybe only allow zerker for the melee and ranked dps. bunker can choice anything he likes.
I think you missed the point of 3 necros on the team. It isn’t “unlucky”. It is a broken matching system. If I was the guy who wrote it, I’d be embarrassed.
It needs to be gone. The issue is with matchmaking. For example, someone typically plays their main and does fairly well. For the daily they play a class they are not good at. They are then matched with people who are way better than them.
It is just a horrible example of the matchmaking system.
Matchmaking has been horrible since they updated the algorithm. I really hope this is being looked at for the expansion. It is just embarrassing right now.
I also wish that ANET would remove specific class wins from the daily. It causes too many people to queue who have no idea how to play the class. It makes a bad matchmaking system even worse.
This thread makes no sense. What purpose would adding class icons onto a broken leaderboard serve? No one looks at the top of the leaderboard and says those are the best players now.
Also, what class icon would you add if someone played multiple classes?

A brief lookover of my post history would reveal that i am an avid warrior player, its all i’ve been playing in this game. My warrior and all his builds, from all in rifle burst, to dull shoutbow- even duel mace.
I was astonished when i played thief for the first time today with d/p.
First off it took a bit of getting used to not having weapon cool-downs. It was awesome. I could just sit there and spam heartseeker as if its an i-win button, my only counter being endure pain skills.
I didn’t really worry about the bow too much, it seems like a weak weapon but the mobility of it is INSANE- endless supply of blink? Thank you very much!
My invisibility skills felt like cheating. Heck- the moment i felt threatened id just throw down a shadow refuge and it was amazing how many people would give up looking for me.
TBH the damage output here is what i’ve been trying to push out of warrior for some time now- rifle burst pushing the limits but being insanely unreliable. But this? This is crazy, i feel like i just started playing a 1up profession. It’s my first day with it, and already i’m scoring top 3 on my team several games in a row.
Hard to play? Not really- i could work on some timings and cooldowns but tbh the overall survival mechanics and reliance of cooldowns on my warrior made that WAY harder than this profession.

Not to say that absolutely every PvE Mechanic should exist in WvW, but the mixture of PvE with PvE Mechancis IS exactly, what makes out of WvW the experience, that it is and that we started to learn to play with fro mthe begin on 2012 with, when there was no Edge of the Mists and nothing but just 3 Copies of Bl and Eternal BattlegroundsThe increase of whining people that keep on QQing about PvE elements in WvW just started first to massively increase with the intoduction of EotM.
All the time before EotM, no freaking butt QQed so much about the pve elements in WvW, like peopel do now since the EotM implemention …I for myself can say on,y, I absolutely love the new desert map design so far from what I have seen, its far mroe interactive and interestingly designe,d that those boring alpine borderlands triple clones, which I hope, just return only, when Anet has given that map theme also a complete redesign first to improve the old maps with better mechanics and overall map design to make playing on them more fun, than before.
I suggest you to give the new map first a chance by playing enough time on it to make up for an opinion about it … whats is good, what is bad ect. and how the bad things could get improved (not removed)
You must be newer to the game. By newer, I mean you haven’t been here since launch. That’s fine. Let me give you a bit of history.
In the beginning, there was no siegerazer. That the first of the PvE elements added to the game post-launch. When that was added, people did complain. It was not popular with players at all. ANET ignored the comments.
Next, ANET decided to add living story elements into WvW. Those also were not popular and people complained quite bit. ANET ignored the comments.
EotM came and the beta testers told ANET there was too much PvE. Devon Carter was the lead at the time and actually posted a message about how it was the same amount of PvE as the rest of the WvW maps. Clearly, he hadn’t played the other maps at the time. ANET ignored the comments.
ANET still doesn’t get that the core of WvW players want to fight each other. Yes, you have some that want to sit in a tower all day, and yes you have some that like the PvE elements. Those are the minority. It should tell you something when the people who gave positive opinions on the new WvW map are either: PvE players, or WvW casuals.
The map is not going to be fun for either zerging or roaming in more ways than just the PvE. The whole vertical terrain thing is a bad idea. It isn’t fun to try to roam around in EotM as a result of that. It takes forever to find other roamers and by that point, I’m bored. The ironic thing… when I finally do fight other people it is in the main areas, not in the lower vertical levels.
So yes, the map is not going to be popular. People will play it while waiting to get into EB.

Fear not! ANET is introducing a new map soon. That map is no longer about the fights. It is about groups fighting NPCs and completing PvE events.
At least that is what I saw in the new borderlands preview. Maybe someone messed up and showed off a PvE zone instead.

This is all true…. as long as you are one of the top 10 thieves in the game. Otherwise, thief is the class that causes more losses to a team than any other.

You clearly do not remember the beginning of the game. Balance was horrendous. There are still a ton of broken items now, but it is certainly better than it was.
Anet should make one plain EB size meadow, 3 spawns, a large hollow middle field for zerg v zergs without objectives, wildlife(npc’s), PPT or “interesting” mechanics. Low budget, lot of fun.
When I want to just press one and watch stuff die, I slay golems in HotM. You should try that sometimes.
If all your press is 1 in WvW, I thank you for all the loot bags you provide.
EotM, where guilds who can’t kill people in WvW go to fight uplevels in EotM. Luckily those same guilds will have EotM 2 to farm soon.
Wow. The singe best WvW improvement in over a year. Yes, it is great, and unfortunately, yes it is the best thing to come to WvW in over a year.
People need to stop complaining. Complainers and ANET need to remember the following:
PvE: There is plenty of living story for that.
Small scale fights: Go to PvP
Large scale fights: Go to WvW
Unfortunately, ANET still think people want PvE in WvW.
Relax everyone. You need to look at this from ANET’s perspective. In their new map, they want to focus on defense. The goal there is for everyone to stand in a tower. Now, with everyone standing in a tower, there will not be any fights. If there are no fights, why do you need stability anyway?

Ele will cap the point and keep it while the fight last forever.I’m confused what you mean? I win 1vs3’s on my Thief who runs D/D and SB . . . . Thieves are really amazing. You just need to learn how to use your dodges, when to push and when to stay stealthed. etc.
