its quite widely rumored that BG and JQ have guilds with access to both servers and they decide who gets 1st place every week.

Is this true? because it seems like TC only gets first if BG and JQ allows it.
at least thats what the rumor says.

More likely that everyone wanted more even matches. Let’s be honest… It was getting really boring when JQ was winning by so much every week. Now people actually need to play until the end.

Yea, about that; Guild Leaderboards in the upcoming expansion. The Leaderboards you see now is just a test to get the algorithm right and now, they are doing a really good job considering how my match-ups have improved over past few months.

How many times should a person need to complete the track before they receive a llama? If it is 1, I completely disagree. I’d be fine with your suggestion if every track complete gave you a component. Combine 4 of them together to get a mini llama.

In other words, if you do the track 4 times, you can get one.

Thief is the most unforgiving profession in this game, you you commit half a mistake you are dead! the other professions are much more forgiving, even if you make a couple of mistakes you still have a chance.

so yeah… jump profession wile you are still new to the game!

Actually true. If you are just starting in PvP, I’d definitely recommend trying a different class.

Ha this thread is terrible. The weakest, least used class that is rarely used in organized play and this community wants it nerfed without any compensation for its numerous defects? Really the downstate is so op that all teams want them? Fine they can reduce the numbers on our downstate which is the worst downstate in the game, it will not touch the class or make your class more viable. Necro downed is so easily countered with blind, stability or breaking Los and stealthing I hate saying l2p, but you should.

You also don’t get it. You assume that after a fight everyone has all of their cooldowns ready to go. If they don’t, a downstate necro can take a cele (even worse for zerker) class from half health to zero and then still win the downstate battle after that. That’s the issue.

You are confusing necro issues with the downstate issue. Downstate damage needs a nerf. No one is arguing that there are plenty of other areas where necro needs buffs/redesign.

Yep, you got it. Nobody played in soloq when we had the choice. I don’t know why you are so nostalgic. The overall level has increased in soloq (facing partial premades has forced even the more reluctant to rotate a bit). Every decent player played in teamq because of how awful the queue times and rotations in soloq were.

I agree with you on the LB part, but your poll is a joke. Your questions are heavily biased. You are not helping your case at all.

I play necro (alt/almost-Main), Xom, and I’m not close to top tier. I agree. I started playing necro because I had some trouble with them as an Engi. Turns out all you need is some CC and an invuln stomp. Run a necro (meta first) and l2p.

The down state of a necro is arguably more powerful than its regular state. However, its no more powerful than some other professions’ down state. (I get hit 1.5k per AA with warrior throw rock.)

Terrorsquad, I do make it sound easy. Be calm and properly manage your cds.

You don’t get it. You assume that after a fight, your opponent has cooldowns. It is not a L2P when someone can kill you that fast in downstate.

Don’t even try to act like necro doesn’t do the most damage.

Courtyard is legit the one true PvP map. You know. Player versus player. No silly NPCs or trebs or PvE interference.

People state their hate for it without explaining why they don’t like it, too often.

The only reasonable explanation I can understand is the map design itself which yes, I will share my slight dislike for as it is very tiny, cluttered & a lot of skills get obstructed etc. That or the inevitable experience(s) of being matched up against ‘premades’ may trigger hate for this map but at the end of the day – it’s players vs’ing players and people are spilling their super ultra mega salty orphan tears over a map that’s mechanic/design/game-play intention is working as intended.. genuine PvP.

It is very bothersome to hear players requesting more/new ‘death-match’ maps regarding PvP when what seems like a fair portion of the playerbase dislikes this particular map; death-match PvP.

Perhaps if the map was designed better/differently would players still feel the same negativity?

Your question at the end is the issue. The PvP deathmap concept is great. The map though is really bad. It forces fighting into very tight narrow passages. I’d much rather see an open space with some objects scattered around to hide behind for LOS attacks.

When in a team I am judged by my points…….. Even though I grab a node or hold off the enemy , I am judged on point totals and called a noob even if I am the reason we are winning!

No one cares about points. If they are calling you a noob, it is likely because of other actions.

I can easily get the top points every single game while my team loses. Does that make me good? No.

The OP really doesn’t understand what makes a build meta. It isn’t the best spec. It is:
1. A great spec for coordinated teams
2. A top player uses it and then everyone else starts to bandwagon it.

The reason a meta build doesn’t work as well for you:
1. You are likely not on a well coordinated team
2. Your playstyle is different than that top player
3. You play less, or are less talented at your class, than that top player.

We all know anet doesn’t care about game contents other than the Living Story, so we all have to make the best out of what we have. Basically we have few solutions for this atrocious match making.

Not true. They took away solo queue and introduced a new matchmaking system in hopes of giving everyone a better experience. Unfortunately, it failed.

The issue is that they are too stubborn to admit that it failed and to being back solo queue and the old matchmaking. Hint: It wasn’t that bad. Just use mmr and prevent class stacking in pug teams. That’s all it needed.

It’s been 5 months now, since december 2014, that dishonor was disabled. You said you wanted to “test it” and reactivate it “soon”. That never happened. It’s completely ruining the PvP experience, with people not even caring anymore. It’s 10x as bad as it was last year and it was already pretty bad. Seems like every other game is a 4v5 or becomes one after one team starts to lose.

Stop kittening around and put it back in.

I’m wondering what your MMR is. I don’t have anywhere near the number of 4v5 as you do.

Well, the balance team is going to have to start releasing some updates more frequently soon. With all of the new spec trees, elite specializations, and new weapons, there will be issues. It won’t be acceptable to wait six months to balance.

Of course that is the logical side of me talking. With this balance team, who knows.

Well from guessing you’re probably a sensitive person.
How about you tell us how many people you have blocked, and then we’ll give you a list of the players who play this game every day, and then we’ll explain why that idea doesn’t work.

Perhaps you could try being less sensitive, maybe quit instigating fights, or putting yourself in a situation that requires you to block people.

It’s pretty easy to not even respond to most of the people in this game, so perhaps start making the right decisions.

I take it you get blocked a lot and are worried that you’d have no one to play with if they implemented the OPs idea.

Keep playing unranked until the system figures out where you fit in. Matchmaking usually gets better after about 100 games.

I think I am over 4000 games at this point across different accounts and it is still horrible for me. Maybe I need to play more.

I think pretty much everyone knows that engi are OP. They have been for a long time. It was just hidden a bit because everyone focused their rage on the turret spec for so long.

The PvP in this game is dead so it dosent have a working matchmaking system because there is nobody near that MMR range playing at the same time so they just put solo Q vs premade.

And even if they put high MMR solo Q’ers vs high MMR premade, the premade will still win 9 times out if 10 unless they are not in TS and playing some random troll builds.

So the whole matchmaking system is a fail. Not only in theory but also in game.

The excuse of a low number of players is a bad one. The matchmaking system is just horrible right now. ANET tried to get creative and add in a bunch of factors that had nothing to do with actual skill.

It really takes talent to take the ok system that existed previously and make it even worse. Grats ANET.

The issue is simple. Make the following change:

When 2 teams have equal numbers, the next member to join must join the losing team.

Think about it. In a game now, what happens? The next member ALWAYS joins the winning team.

What happens next? Someone from the losing team drops.

What happens next? Someone who was playing from the start gets moved to the losing team.

What happens next? That person is annoyed and leaves, causing another balance to occur.

The cycle continues.

I’ve said before that matchmaking is the worst part of PvP. It is horrible. A few key changes need to be made:

1. Implement a solo queue and a team queue. (Great new concept right?)
2. Matchmaking should be based on class specific MMR. Just because someone is great at once class doesn’t mean they are good at another.
3. A 4 or 5 person premade should NEVER face a group of 5 pugs. NEVER
4. In a pug match, ensure no more than 2 of a class on a team

They mentioned in the stream that they want to push mesmer into more of a high skill level profession. So no more passive clone death.

I guess the new easier way to mesmer will be condie shatter. If you really want to benefit from the buffs, you kinda have to go into the interrupt regime now.

While introducing crazy passive triats (Confusion on crit says hi, burn burn burn burn burn guards say hi, fire auras ((oh god why)) on eles say hi).

Anyways, mesmer got buffed tons. Along with thief probably the most, you should be happy you didn’t get nerfed as ele or basically nothing as necro.

Stop with the ele got nerfed complaints. They didn’t.

Neither did Mesmer or any other class. Maybe your favorite spec got nerfed. That is fine. Try something different. There will be a spec that is much stronger than what you play now.

Spec getting nerfed does in fact mean that your class got a nerf :/

Mesmers will be MUCH stronger after the release of the new system. Either adapt or play a different class. ALL classes evolve over time.

I do wish they’d bring back the raid map. The side points were fun and they could modify the underwater point to be on land and a wide open fighting point similar to the center of foefire.

There are plenty of good builds. People just tend to be followers and use whatever a top player is using. Think about it:

1. How many people use the Tage medi hammer guard build? He did well and they all want to try to be like him. Earlier they all used him bunker build.
2. How many D/P thieves used the Caed critical strikes build? How many now use the EU panic strike build? How many used the sizer S/D build?

I can keep going here, but the point is that there are plenty of good builds. People just tend to bandwagon onto builds until a top player uses something else. Then everyone jumps to that.
