At this point I’d say we’re just wasting our breath. People won’t be happy until mesmers is nerfed back to at least pre-patch standings, while at the same time they want to keep all the changes their class got.

Exactly. All these pvp veterans are not used to Mesmers being strong, but it is perfectly ok for Ele to be strong for so long.

Maybe you don’t read threads, but pretty much everyone is asking for a D/D ele nerf. Everyone except for those who main a D/D ele of course.

An OP d/d ele doesn’t change the fact that mesmer is too strong though.

Chronomancer’s actually in a good spot at the moment. It’s fairly balanced compared to other Mesmer specs, but it does have more room for skilled play with well timed Continuum Splits.

If your definition of good spot is being OP, then yes, you are correct.

If you are comparing it to D/D ele, then yes, it is weak.

And here’s the mandatory “D/D ele OP” I see in every unrelated thread.

Anet couldn’t have predicted this. They make changes, let the meta unfold and then play around with it. They have to factor in if nerfs will destroy other builds or if it will make other classes out-perform others.

The meta has established itself. They played around with mesmer already (though its still a little too good). Be prepared to see changes to ele this month.

You must think the people at ANET are dumb (I personally do not). If you allow stacking of a condition, the obvious question would be “who benefits the most from that”. The super easy answer in the case of burns is “ele and burn guard”.

ANET did it on purpose. Now let’s see if they fix it.

Comparing anything to D/D cele ele isn’t a fair comparison. D/D cele is currently the strongest spec in the entire game.

Now I won’t claim that the necro is low tier in all game mode, because this is not true. Necro is meta in WvW backline, and has an average place in competitive sPvP. But this “decent” place should not eclipsed the many problems the class has.

I don’t understand the whole point of this thread.

1. WvW: Necro is one of the 4 most important classes. It is the single largest source of damage. The class is meta.
2. PvP: Really strong right now AND has a variety of builds that are viable.
3. PvE: Is there where your concern is? If so, valid point. The issue is how to buff PvE without make WvW and PvP insanely OP. Being OP is only for eles :p

Added: It would be great if new accounts got a 2 week free transfer period and were able to play in wvw to see if they like it, instead of having to choose a server blindly….but then we’d have hosts of enemies mucking things up….

What about letting them play for a limited amount of time in wvw each day just to get a feel for it before choosing a permanent server? Perhaps an hour a day, to reduce the chances of possible damage to an enemy server?

I’m not a fan of this for the reason you mentioned. Instead, I think every new account should get 1 free server transfer. Essentially you pick one when creating an account. Once you hit the required level, you can try WvW. If you like your server, stay. If you want to try something else, you have 1 free move.

The hardest class to play properly is Thief.

Most people who play Thieves play it poorly. It is very difficult to find a good Thief for a team.

Quite true. It is why I’ve posted other messages about how in most cases, I prefer not having a thief on my team in a PUG match.

I sure hope ANET is right and the desert borderlands map is popular. I was extremely worried during the last 24 hour test. As soon as the 3 hour tournament was over, it seemed that a majority of people left the maps and returned to the regular WvW maps. If it was fun, wouldn’t they have stayed?

We will find out soon enough.

Well since MMR is invisible, that would make it a really odd suggestion at all.

They can still program it in. They need not make MMR visible if they don’t want to. But we need some benefit of having more difficult match ups don’t we? The whole point of having rewards at all is to encourage people to do better. That’s why challenging content gives you better stuff. We need to correct this oversight in PvP.

No. The benefit of a higher MMR is to match with in games with similar players. That’s it. The value of being a better player, which is different than MMR, is to give you the chance to win in weekly cups / other tournaments.

Thoughts. My thoughts are that I’m tired of people shouting about how elementalist are overpowered. They’re top tier. Top tier and in need of rebalance are two different things. If you think that eles or Cele are OP, please just go L2P.

If you don’t realize that eles are the strongest class right AND are OP, you might be playing a different game.

You need to separate your personal interests in the class from the reality.

Minions in GW1 would at times have issues with responsiveness in PvP as well. I played a lot of fort aspenwood as an MM, and there were a couple of specific corners where all your minions could get stuck.

The difference in GW2 is that minions are much more valuable since this game has a much more action oriented combat system where your minions abilities and attacks can have a big impact on how well the fight goes for you. There simply is no excuse for bone minions to idle behind you when the enemy you need them next to is far in front of you, or for your elite skill (flesh golem) to idle next to you while you’re downed when his attacks would let you rally.

Minion AI simply needs to be more responsive for PvP. Reverting the AI back to it’s release version for PvP exclusively might help tremendously.

Minion needs a nerf in PvP. If you want to make the AI more responsive, then it would need even more of a nerf.

When you agree or not isn’t the point. Whenever an AI (ie minimal skill) build becomes strong in PvP, it is nerfed. Minions, turrets, and spirit rangers have all seem that happen in the past and will happen again in the future.

In general, engis need to be much more careful about when to engage in fights since the update. You aren’t going to win a 1v1 vs a burn ele or burn guardian, so don’t even try.

I personally prefer a more DPS focused spec, so I prefer to help burst people down in team fights.

Engineers perform relatively well in PvP and PvE. We’re also pretty strong in WvWvW,

Most importantly, Engineer is fun to play. I honestly don’t care if a class is even in the current Meta or not, given that it only really applies to the top players anyways. If you have fun, then stick with it.

Just for the record, mechanics aside – the Silverwastes JP was the most fun and entertaining. My friends and I laughed so hard at how many deaths and missed jumps occurred throughout the map. The coins in that area were fun as well. I disagree with some in that the JPs and the achievements should be difficult, not necessarily for everyone individually – as they can be difficult and time consuming – but accomplishable by anyone in a team. I hope they make more large area JPs – maybe incorporated with their gliders. Challenging is good. Too much of the game is boring and left behind after youwalk through one time.

Interestingly, I do love the jumping puzzles in general, but I hated the Silverwastes one. It was by far my least favorite of any JP to date.

I think the point is that hopefully they have a variety of JP. Timed, untimed, and even silverwastes style are all good.

I don’t understand why there is a notion that it is crazy to lock certain rewards behind certain content. I don’t think there has ever been a game that hasn’t done this. It’s not like GW2 doesn’t offer similar rewards.

This isn’t how GW2 works. The whole notion of the game is that you should be able to get the rewards you want by playing the way you want. They actually locked ascended trinkets behind fractals when it first game out and later admitted that was a mistake.

The beauty of GW2 has always been to earn rewards the way you want.

I think the healing bombs are gone forever, replaced by Bunker Down. What sucks about that is you are forced to choose amulets with high precision.

The update isn’t perfect but it’s definitely to the right direction.

No! I refuse to believe that! I need it back so I can stop being torn between Engineer and Elementalist… ;-;

Here is how I always look at it. Ele is more effective than engineer in pretty much every game mode right now. On the flip side, Engi is more fun to play.

So basically you have to decide between effectiveness and fun.

Sounds like a lot of you are big fans of a bunker meta. I am not. I like the idea that there are high burst classes who also die easily, as well as bunkers who can sustain. It is a good balance right now with the exception of dd ele and certain mesmer specs.

What does Personal Score really tell you?

Score means NOTHING. I could easily get the highest point total every game I play.

A high score doesn’t indicate that someone is good or bad and the same goes for the low score.

I can’t believe people are still whining about DPS or stealth. Truthfully, if you can’t survive as a bunker guard right now, it is you.

Stealth will always have those who can’t fight against it. It has been that way since the beginning of the game. That’s why these types of posts are always amusing.

There are only two things that need major adjustments. dd ele since the SUSTAIN is too high and Mesmer. The problem with Mesmer is not stealth. It is the damage output.
