I always see people running around in the various maps. But then since I don’t craft, play TP, do dungeons or fractals, stand around in LA, do champ trains or world bosses, and spend only a bit of time in wvw for a change of enemy I’m more likely to see people.

How long do you guys spend in the open world before giving up?

I’ve been thinking for a while that after all this time the server populations have probably really started to gather like-minded players. Maybe some servers just don’t have a lot of people running around the maps because the players there don’t like to. There are lots of things to do. Just a thought.

However, you CAN spec to be useful with heals and mitigation; I set up my mesmer with a healing build, and was actively keeping up players and key NPCs in various events and such. Have kept Grenth from failing several times by keeping Jonez and players up.

At the risk of derailing the thread (!) … is there a build guide for this or did you figure it out? It sounds interesting and a little different.

I’m working on it, but it has to do with the changes to traits, especially down the Inspiration line, with AOE cleanses and heals. It probably would not be necessary in a full zerk dungeon group that knows exactly what it’s doing, but for general PvE (not sure about WvW yet) it’s been interesting. With Mantra of Pain, it’s sort of going back to being a Smite monk. I drop illusions to stack healing aoe regens, can shatter to clear conditions and give myself small heals, and can chain-cast mantra of pain for a steady flow of medium heals. All of them stack up, especially when eles are dropping their aoe heals.

You can’t spike heal anyone but yourself as a mesmer, but it’s very helpful to mitigate steady incoming damage pressure.

I am working on an ascended celestial set for WvW, but I imagine this build would work better with that than the zerk exotics I have now.

I obviously have taken a hit in DPS and had to spec away from Deceptive Evasions, but for the open world especially, or WvW, it’s no big deal, especially if your accessories are berserker (and ascended).

Very nice. Absolutely right about open world. I have a little Mesmer that needs a little guidance. I might try this as well if you don’t mind.

Order Progression

For skins, achievements, and maybe even use of the titles we were given in the personal story. Major rewards for Order members, minor rewards for non-Order people who join to help out.

Housing

A place to show off trophies and maybe any symbols related to achievements. Evolvable. Weapon and armour racks to show off any skins we have. Something of a money sink but not too appalling.

Epic dyes/effects

I have a few characters who wouldn’t mind glittery shoulders or lava lamp boots.

Here’s some things that I can get behind and support.

More with the Orders. Go do missions for your Order, maybe just once or twice a day, that over time will/can lead to skills or skins or new dyes or achievements or whatever, and have these in two tiers. The missions can just lead to new events that will provide the starter with tier 1 stuff while your mates who come along for the ride are eligible for tier 2 stuff. And no achievement for them. Maybe even something similar for the player species.

Epic dyes. I like the sound of these, as people have described them. I have little interest in epic weapons but epic dyes with effects might be something that I would gather stuff for. I’m even happy for them to be account bound.

Personal housing. For those of you who played Daoc then you can think that. I really like the idea that was further up this page or on the previous about upgrading from level 1 to onward. If I find it again I’ll reference it (Cliff on p6, nice work). So something combining both.

Now, at the risk of becoming unpopular (not that anyone knows me), I would like to say that whatever happens can we please stop with the disintegration of individual character progression. I know this isn’t really on topic for the thread but not everyone feels the need to get rid of soulbinding. I can’t imagine much can be done for equipment but, if it ever goes down that road, for dyes at least give players the option to either make them account or soul bound.

Right off the top of my head I would like to see soulbound to be banished from GW2. By all means keep account bound and turn everything soulbound to account bound on use.

It would make altoholics happy and you can’t play GW2 without having multiple alts. GW1 vets you know what I am talking about.

The only demographic I see being hurt are the TP flippers. IMO GW2 wasn’t supposed to be “Stock Market 2”.

I’m an altoholic and I have no problem with soulbound equipment. Weapons and armour to be clear.

Anything and everything else, though, should be completely tradeable. Edit: except dyes.

There’s a difference between “friendly for your alts” and “friendly to the player of alts”.

Stripping away individual character progression, which Anet is doing slowly but surely, might be making some players giddy with joy with all the account-bound stuff that’s been introduced but for people who want their characters to be completely separate from each other then its another nail.

Thoughts on a new death mechanic?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zenleto.6179

zenleto.6179

Read the above post buddy. Warframe death mechanic is not the same as the revive orb.

Also, this is a forum isnt it? Im creating a discussion to see if ppl would want it in GW2 and if it would work in a game like GW2.

I’ll do the massive red circle around the obvious and spell it out, since you clearly missed it:

There is a “revive for money” mechanic in the game already. It’s very, very, limited for a reason. The reason it’s not the same as Warframe’s because Warframe’s is kittening kittened. Which is why it’s not in this game. Because it’s stupid. This game already looked at it, decided they wanted something-sort-of-like-that, and did revive orbs. Which aren’t Warframe style, because that’s stupid. But that’s Warframe. Warframe is essentially just vertical progression with a “milk it” cash shop. Warframe. Not GW2. Again, stupid.

We good? Good.

You might want to frame this for if/when Anet (or whoever pulls the strings) want Cesmode’s subject matter in the game. Or a version of.

Well, the category is ‘expansion or update’ and it doesn’t specify that it has to be perm.

Either way I find it odd that the most highly acclaimed GW2 ‘update’ isn’t really GW2 but an 8bit side game. I’ll dig up my NES if I want to play those types of games.

shrug

All rewards are opinion based. You don’t necessarily have to agree. Its just like critics and movies. The critics give it a C, you go see it, like it, to you it gets an A.

And my opinion is I would have rather seen GW2 recognized for adding something more permanent that actually was GW2 play and not a temporary 8bit side game. If I had a vote in it I would have said it was the addition of the wallet system. Kind of sad but true.

And I would have panned the wallet. One person’s opinion is always going to be another’s WTF!

At least the wallet is permanent. When was the last time you got to play SAB?

Actually, thinking back if I had a vote it would have been Bazaar of the Four Winds since we are talking updates and apparently not permanent content updates. It came with a new map, ability to trade in stacks of low level mats for skin tokens, DEs in the map, champion fights, all sorts of fun skills to zip around the map and explore, and a now permanent mini game. It was the most well developed temporary update I have seen.

Not since April, though my Asura ranger is loving his bow skins.

Absolutely agree on the Bazaar. Single best update in my opinion and I can’t wait for it to come back.

Fractured! was mine, to be honest. Got me into fractals again, if even just a little.

Bazaar was OK. The thing I hated about bazaar and most of the other updates was the amount of achievements…just stupid really. It seems arenanet is learning that we dont want 18 achievements with multiple tiers to grind out, so maybe the CDI had some impact? Id like to think so and hope the trend of minimal achievements continues.

I can’t stand the thought of jumping into an instance with a bunch of strangers anymore so I never touched Fractured!.

I didn’t mind the amount of achievements for the Bazaar. It felt like so much fun gathering them up, and it was relaxing in a stressful, gamey sort of way. But like I said, and as we all know, one person’s awesome is another’s pile o’crap.

There are things Anet might need to work on first though.

I think mounts would make the world too small. Especially if any speed increase was too quick.

They couldn’t make it too easy. There’s no reason for them to hold our hands for this. I certainly don’t “blame” Anet for my own inability to get the Logic achievement first time round. Or second or third or….

Yes you can easily move the entire GW2 folder to a new drive, the only thing you will have to do is update the shortcut ( if you use it ) on the start menu, to the new drive path,

I run my GW2 on my G drive ( its my gaming SSD drive ) and ive never had any problems.

Excellent! Thank you very much.

Hi all.

I’m looking at upgrading my operating system and I’m wondering if the game can be moved to a secondary hard disk without any problems so I don’t lose it all. I know some games don’t like being moved because they think they’re getting stolen.

I’m just upgrading from 32 bit Windows 7 to 64 so is there a chance I may not even need to worry?
