Elite specs are meant to fill a gap in play style of each class
to give them somehow a role they never had before without giving them too much of another class
That means giving the warrior stealth because they never had stealthy playstyle is the wrong direction
for example the core ranger had no respective support role, just a bit of AoE and less hard CC abilities, with the druid they got the healing role, AoE via some glyphs and CC too.
We should gather what each class lacks in game, without “first fix that before new elite spec” and then we could work around that
For example the necro lacks of support abilities, now we could collect ideas around supporting, like mine idea of soul guide or of another one who focused around the ghost idea with stealth, life steal and utility support.
oh yeah mystic is much better and creative idea
and the concept is really close on the design of guardian class as a person of light, virtues, justice and loyalty to allies.
To make a defender of the innocent into an occultist with esoteric thematics is such a fluent transition. Much more than a defender who can specialize in bring justice to dragon minions to actually use the old law and spells of ancient times to decimate the criminals
some of the better ideas:
Ranger:
Packmaster: a scepter as a whip to control 3 pets
Whisperer: scepter, more pet focus, dmg from pet
Bunny thumper: hammer and all u know
Engi:
Creationist: u build things that protect u from special dmg (close, range dmg etc.)
Holomancer: yeah holomancer like
Ele:
sword/mantra for bursty dmg ele
Conjurer: special skillset for each existing conjure weapon
Weaver: merge 2 attunements, sword and stances, the naruto kekkei genkai weave at you
Spellblade: u play piano with ur 1-5 skills, patterns cause effects
Thief
something with rifle and set marks
Arsonist: torch and midrange support
Vandal: torch and alchemy, use vials with stuff to get aoe
Lord of the underworld: warhorn(whistle) summone minions
Explorer: torch and utility support with glyphs
Shade: its like a reaper with another avatar
Necro
Sacrificial style, OH sword, glyphs, GM system like daredevil to define playstyle, use HP to heal minions, allies or supply ur shroud
Plaguebearer: seems like u get sick and cough around to spread the disease.
Ghostly themed, axe, life steal and stealth play style
Shaman: torch, unique anti-crit-boon, sacrificing HP and LF for effects
Soulguide: Torch, u guide ghosts and souls, support with using LF (my own post)
Warrior:
Weapon master: SB, they categorize their weapons and gain abilities for using them
some stuff with staffs, daggers and pistols
Mesmer
MH pistol, cause Ilya and Lyss
Minstrel/Phonomancer: WH and sound abilities, probably shouts
Guard
Something like Exorcist.yeah.
For guards the librarian, judge, advocate or something that sounds like justice and books

Now they could use the axe to symbolize their self-assessment as Judge and Executioner.
Or they could use a warhorn call down the justice. the WH can be versatile and the skillset tomes too. They use their horn and spears of light impale the foes, with tomes everything is possible, there is almost no limit what the devs could create logic or lore-wise
i think for devs it can be pretty hard to imagine new specs for all classes, but i can be fun, like i had now

– burn and chill ur opponent with ur torch
– ignite ur souls, burn conditions of ur allies and heal them
3 lines because some did not saw it
- they are working on next expansion
- the other dragons expand their territory

i can not understand what is wrong with a part (a PART not all meanwhile) of the ranger community
i just started reading here 10min ago and already read suggestions to buff CA#1/2, making the avatar form almost permanent and that the druid is “useless”
Its mental, the druid is one of the most overpowered specs in pvp
And thats not just my opinion, its the opinion of a lot of high class pvp players
U need atleast 2 players and a long amount of time to kill a decent druid, while our pets can do a good amount of crits (5K pet crit in a defensive healer build is just too strong)
The druid will be nerfed, thats for sure, maybe less healing for the druid itself and more for the allies

Simply cant understand all the complaining about the DH. I think most of the people simply are used to win against guardians in 1v1 and now that they are competive useful everyone starts complaining, because its no instawin anymore.
Nerfing the Traps slightly would be okay, but True Shot is what makes DH.
For me personally scrapper is way stronger than DH is.

We are still able to heal for massive amounts and the blind spam was just cheesy.
the minstrel remove was reasonable, i was able to kill people with a trap druid build on minstrel just from pet dmg and conditions with only 150 condi dmg when i switch to A/T, or could stand against 2-3 people for a good amount of time, thats just wrong.
And to all of you who think the nerfs are mainly for pvp
to the holy mother of grenth of course they are, i think balancing around PvE is absolutely nonsense, the only okay pve nerfs were the ele weapon nerfs because of the unintended behavior.
Pure PvE´ler should not have an equal voice about balancing like a pure PvP´ler.
PvE is just zerging down or bursting down mobs, the only interest of a pure PvE´ler is that his favourite class is OP as possible to kill mobs fast or brain afk, to earn easy money

The truth is that Burn > All, and mesmers don’t get to have it.
i cant remember saying that or even implying that condi mesmer is superior to other condi builds, stop to devise something like that to prevent your beloved weapon for a small justified nerf.

Overall, after the last BWE, we felt like revenant was in a solid spot. For launch we mainly focused on bug fixing and a few outliers such as changing the second hit of the sword auto-attack as well as speeding up the tablet move speed.
That’s not to say that there aren’t more things we are thinking about how to improve or tweak, but we want the profession to get in more playtime and thus more feedback before we make any more larger changes. I’m definitely reading all the feedback and taking under consideration for future changes so keep up the awesome work.
So your happy with how good it is/plays, how about how balanced it is compared to others? (core classes) for now revenant counters every other power class. and when they spec condi they also counters every condi class.
This issnt only for Rev but also for allot more new Elite specs you/Anet brought into this game. some core classes have NO place or chance anymore against new (combined) stuff you/Anet put on this class and other elites.
We need to have players get more time with them in general to see how things play out. We’ve made a lot of changes in beta weekends, but once they are live and people really spend a lot of time playing with them it will give us better data. We want non-elite spec builds to be viable as well. There will be balance patches to address and adjust things.

i think every 3 months are still too less to stabilize the balancing ingame and just 2 weeks time to fix them is again too less. I assume that u wont change the things while a pvp season is live, enough time for a profession to find OP stuff and “exploit” them to gain huge advantages in leagues and rankings

i always read “internal testings” agreed for new effects, trait overhauls and so on, but for tweaking numbers? as a business u are afraid of doing mistakes balance wise, but for simple number tweaks, let the playerbase test it. after 2-4 weeks u can change it again, but it is better to live 3 months or in the past half a year with disgusting builds running around

i did some math about the CAF changes

so i used this formula and the base heal nerf numbers to find a range where we can estimate our heals with release
I just used the 4 possible amulett stats in PvP (0, 560, 900, 1200)
My solution: Only SoL gets better and the other ones get a slight nerf
CR at 1200HP after release will be around 20-100 weaker – nothing to worry
SoL at 1200HP will be 150-200 stronger
LI at 1200HP will be 170-400 weaker
RT at 1200HP will be 60-170 weaker (per tick)
Some may cry “QQ nurf, i thought we will get even more healing when we invest in HP and such”
But they are reasonable and we get something extra. SoL will heal around 12xx with cleric amulett and we probably get a new effect on it, maybe a useful boon (screw swiftness, fury or one stack might), i think thats sweet
GotL change is poor, i will miss this trait, i couldnt test it, while it is more activ game play than all the passive stuff the pvp community hates, i think it was an awesome trait in a game where mesmer can spam ez confu and torment as they like and burn stacks tick so high, that even u scream.
PvP wise a nerf, raid wise a must-have now – a good buff

Druids Clarity: i think here is an option for pets possible, like converting conditions to boons, so we have a bit synergy for bountiful hunter or WHaO

What could it be: something with recharge, a short invul or evade on next attack
Natural Stride: out pet could use the condi reduction too
Seed of Life: short poison uptime, for traits and additional dmg

glyph of equality, make it a stun break and maybe add the ability to throw the CC back to the foe
glyph of empowerment, while most skills are good, the CAF version of it seems absolutely useless to be ever used, for example in raids or wvw, we are responsible for healing, to give it to other classes, who the most are not capable to provide such intense healing for others, seems like a wasted cd
consider a dmg reduction, maybe a short prot uptime
is it intended that we can fill the bar outfight? sometimes i can gain AF just with AA without target, i guess AF is gained for heals on people who have already full hp, especially the pet
the CAF doesnt need high dmg, but atleast a bit, just #5 and daze on moon blast is too less, consider applying few seconds of poison (2-3s) to nearby foes with SoL
the AA needs a better animation, would be nice if u change the colour, but it needs to be more visible
oh and lingering light activates outfight too, when i use sometimes my AA without anyone around, just my pet running next to me
AG port does not travel the full distance, it stops mostly at the point where the green circle ends
i understand ur argument about complexity, but i personally think it would be more useful when u do not check how many stacks the other one has and just give them burn
but in the end, its just what the devs think about ur ideas, it would be nice if they really consider them for guardian

King of Kings has a 20% chance on critical OR when you rally a player to spawn a lesser “sword of justice” (max 5) that remains for 20 seconds and does 40% of the swords regular damage. the sword automatically uses command when destroyed.
lets be honest, Anet wont do something like that, i mean “lesser versions” of something. They would need to make a smaller model, new numbers, search for cds and weaknesses and so on.

it remembers me how a minor worked on ranger, u somehow waste protection on ur focus blocks, while the blocks are up, the prot ticks and remain unused.

problem is when they both are close to another, but just a random ideaSounds good, you could probably just solve that issue by having it as a player-targeted skill rather than an AoE. That way if it’s an enemy it will trigger “kill”; ally will trigger “rescue” (obviously lol).
and i think it could work now
because in allies aid the pet helps the target we choose, or did anyone ever had that the pet starts rezzing another allie?
just start a thread before we can test it, the rest moves from alone, we just need one of the mentioned names above and the community will follow

there are literally 3 jumps, so its somehow desperate to use this as a reason to get a bug back
okay that means a stun break skill with 1/2s cast time or a trap without cast time

a) druid is the only elite that was not introduced in order of the old classes introduction – all the other fit but druid was skipped
b) the druid images shown so far do NOT show any druid specific gear nor were such items datamined
c) the datamined druid artwork does not show the class

the skull is highly telegraphed and you should be able to just switch ur pet
that the pet dies fast against special mobs is known, but personally i wouldnt send my pets to such mobs and use them wisely, like f2 for right moment and such.
i rarely play pve as a ranger nowadays. the AR should be adressed, no one can neglect that
i think rumors said there is another thing that can help u…oh F3 sends ur pet back?
micro managment is something that some people really need to learn. i dont say thats 100% helping, but sometimes u need to blame yourself for ur ability to play with ur pet.
and again pet swap is a nice friend in such situations.
the sword is a…be prepared i say it…l2p issue. yes it is, i played power LB-SA months before the pewpew update and could kill people pretty well. we have no luxury like GS aa evade, but another low cd evade on #3 and for good ones the #2, and when its not enough for you, a dagger #4.

in my eyes, as a main ranger and just plaing other classes for the pvp tonics, i say most of the nerfs were legit.
Only thing i agree was the movement nerf to spirits. But there is hope that they can fix them to make them balanced and not too strong like in old times.

Every knockback needs an animation, thats fact, who argues against it, wants their own class to be stronger than others and are not capable of a neutral job as a specialist.
EVERY class got traits moved around, lot of them lost some decent traits or stats (ricochet – thief, boon duration – guard, etc.)
The jade maw is almost to all AI a kittenbag, i mean spirit weapon, phantasms and ele pets are also targets. Is Mes, Ele and Co. neglected by anet? Nope.
I read this forum threads and see the PvP player community and come to a conclusion. Rangers are hated. Not just because of the problems, or old habits of veterans “ranger was always hated, so i continue”, its because we got incredible strong mechanics, are in a good spot now and NEVERTHELESS, rangers cant stop QQing about everything.
Our main problem PvP-wise, is that we have so less group support, it is likely that druid will change this. To be balanced Id say to tone down our 1v1 abilitys
With Spike trap, low CD taunt, high condi cleanse, high uptime on regen, a lot of CC from canines and 2 good invul skills and etc. it is hard to not win fair 1v1.
It is time for rangers to think about tweaks and small changes instead of hard buffs and overhauls.
an offhand war horn that temporary summons spirits of heroes (like mesmer clones but think lord of the rings with aragorn and the ghost soldiers) or call down pillars of holy fire would of been a better step in a guardian direction.
i am no guard main, but i am a strong sympathizer, but i say i love the idea of a warhorn.
i can imagine that for a paragon like spec. U use the warhorn to call down divine spears and godly powers while using echos or chants. I can think of a nice looking spec.
but to make it, u need to push it, anet mentioned they like the idea of tomes for a later spec, so i think of a librarian like spec
There is no way that video is of the staff auto-attack. The ranger was rooted in place and it had like a 3 second cast time.

my theory is that they needed more time to work on it. some dev said that mes and ranger gonna shape up the pvp landslide, mes got alacrity, so it could be possible that ranger gets something cool new too that affects his allies.
