Tachenon: Well, the game’s combat is based on dodging, I wonder how you could play it until now, if that bothers you that much. But I (sort of) agree with rest except knockbacks by bosses… imo these are are awesome, I like it… my only issue is that it’s kinda unfair that we can’t knock them down too (I know, it’s about balancing stuff blabla).

I am very satisfied with new storytelling and story missions even in terms of gameplay. It’s huge improvement over S1 and I love it. But there is one thing I am not big fan of – jumping-puzzle based content. Just like ProTech above me, I will do it for achievements, but I won’t find much joy in it, I prefer “classic” content like bossfights, dungeons and stuff like that… so I hope that S2 is going to be well ballanced at delivering enough content for all kinds of audience.
TLDR: Pretty good so far, just not aimed towards my liking.
Heyho ArenaNet & forum users!
I would love to thank developers for making Liadri bossfight tough and not nerfing it even after so many nerf demanding posts. It took me few days to beat the hell out of her, I was angry, I was swearing, I was really, really mad about that fight.
But it was that challenge behind that fight what made me try again, and again, and again… heck it even made me to rethink my build from scratch, which si probably for the first time since I hit level 80 back in 2012 (I didn’t get to do Liadri during first pavilion). I love that type of challenging content and especially that feeling after I finnaly made it.
I hope that ArenaNet is going to make content like this more often and also make content like this party-oriented (DUNGEON). Pushing players skill to some level is good and definitely way more fun than facerolling almost any PvE content.
Have a nice day. ;-)

Exactly this sort of non-stop being unhappy and crying is reason why people make fun of official forums community. YOU DON’T NEED THAT PASS. Is loading into one more zone such a big deal? Is it really? I hate people bashing ArenaNet just because they want to earn some money (everybody does). Anything that is on that freaking ship is also in the open-world for free. Ship is meant to be a VIP zone, so let it be if you don’t want to go there.
And stop expecting to get everything for free. I am really afraid of ArenaNet ever releasing a expansion, because most people on forums would be like “Oh my god, I have to pay for it? What the hell?” GET REAL.

Zerg experience got way better than it used to be. Overall framerate is the same, but I experience almost no brutal drops now. Thanks guys!
I have no problem with them being a lesbian couple, I have few homosexual friends in RL, I know them since childhood and they are my best friends, so no problem with homosex stuff at all.
But what I don’t like, is that their relationship feels so forced, I mean like SO FORCED. Conversations between these two are so awkward since that naked thing in Nightmare Tower. Also that beach scene in LA felt more like a parody to some cheesy romantic movie. I just don’t feel like their relationship is real (I know that it’s a game lol, but story should be somewhat realistic).
have to disagree too. if they changed it to what you suggest the event will never fail.
I don’t think so… there is still this portal defense, which can go very bad too, but that isn’t cause by random, so it’s ok.
As some more constructive players (“This is the worst patch.” isn’t a real argument) have said above – the encounters are fun and great, but timers are bad and having it in open world is bad. Marionette could have been awesome raid instance, instead we have to rely on absolute strangers while we are doing it. Overall, I like the update, just don’t 100% agree with it’s execution. We have overflows, which basically are just big alternative instances, why can’t we have these for guilds or something?
Erm… sometimes even a little movement may cause event to disappear from the map, take it easy buddy. :-)
Oh, I like this one… let me describe my own experience.
Back in 2012, before the game was launched, I had 6 friends who had bought the pre-purchase edition just like I did. Two of them were super-hardcore grinders, so they got really fast to the 80 and after a little time they had their top exotic gear. And at this very point, they had nothing to progress for, so the quit the game.
Three more friends were kinda slower at leveling, they wanted to enjoy the whole content, so it took them more time… we are talking months here… and then the same story like with the first two – they max-geared and had nothing else to do.
One last friend stood for more time in the game, he got first 80 a few days after I did (end of November 2012, I guess)… and he was casually playing along, he did some dungeons, he did some WvW and he was the only real-life friend, who stood in and was playing the LS content with me. This year, he made an alt and leveled it to 80, he again did some end-game content on casual-pace, but somewhere around the beginning of September, he didn´t really log into the game for more than few minutes. I asked him why is that, and his response? “I don´t know what to do in the game anymore.” – it´s translated from Czech language, so it is not 100% accurate, but it´s pretty much what he said.
And it is what I feel about Guild Wars 2 too… I love the world, I love lore, I love graphics, I love the pace you give us new content (2 weeks are amazing for payment-free game), I love combat and so on… I REALLY DO LIKE GUILD WARS 2, but sometimes I just lose interest and skip few LS patches, because of rewards for my time. Don´t get me wrong, I like playing games just for fun, but I don´t like all the content, its nobodys fault, you can´t like everything… but if there were proper rewards, I would do the content even if I didn´t like it. Now I do content just if I want to, and that is what differs my GW2 experience from other MMOs, which had better rewards (Example: opening chest at the end of 1 hour battling through the Nightmare Tower and getting 3 greens? Come on…).
You really did try to improve this end-game stuff, and I mostly like it, but I still expect more to come – how about unlockable PERMANENT dungeons? You have to do a lower dungeons to unlock higher/harder ones with better rewards – but the rewards have to be worth it ofc., or we would return to classic CoF farming. Ascended crafting is a good example of you trying to improve motivation for end-game players – and I appreciate that, but the 400 to 500 leveling is just annoying, discovering xy weapons which I am never ever going to craft again is not the best way imo, but I still do it, because that is exactly what I wanted in the beginning of this year – some progression.
Also don´t forget the Fractals – great end-game kind of stuff, but the rewards… maaan, people do it just if they want to, not for the rewards, if they want rewards (proportional to the time spent in), they would rather do some fast dungeon paths. Same goes with Tequatl, do you know why I didn´t even bother trying to do that new version? REWARDS, there are no good rewards except for 0,001 drop chance for good stuff and some achievements (which is not good enough for me for this amount of effort).
One last example – train farms, somebody from ArenaNet in some video said, that they like it because it´s something they wanted – community doing stuff together, but at the same point it´s not really the way ArenaNet intended community stuff to be. What to do with these trains? If you raise rewards in… everything from dungeons to Living Story, people definitely would do less brainless train running around the map (and yeah, some LS content is about that too), which gives them good rewards compared to the time spent. BUT THAT DOESN´T MEAN “NERF THE CHAMPS”.
My point is, if you want to improve character progression, you have to start with the rewards, they have to match the time/effort spent into content, and if they don´t, people just stick to easier (but with pretty much same rewards) content. Lets give us new permanent dungeons with progression as described above, lets give us proper rewards for doing harder content, lets give us progression which isn´t about farming achievement points.
As I said above, I love the game, it´s amazing, but it has alot of space to improve if we speak of “end-game character” progression. Most people don´t play just because it´s fun, not if we speak about MMOs… they also expect to be somewhat motivated by the game itself. Keep on doing good job, lets make 2014 to be the year in which players return to Tyria! :-)
Starwatto The NecroWarrior. I just had to transfer those golds to gems just to get that Grenth headpiece, was waiting for some hood headpiece for warrior since launch. Just too bad we can´t dye eyes glow, I know it would be against lore, but still… this could be one badkitten head cover for my dreamed sith-warrior look (also still waiting for red lightsaber to come into GW2 lol).
Glass builds are meant to be extreme, if you find playing an extreme hard, then don´t play it. Simple as that. And there is painfully alot of glass-friendly content, so this is a nice change.
1. Thanks for the tower, I actually find fighting through the tower to be fun. Solo or with other players (no matter if just instance-zerging, or with somewhat organised party), it is fun. Also that level-porting golems are good idea, because fighting everytime from the very beginning would be pain in the puppy.
2. Great difficulty balance, it´s not frustratingly tough, but it´s still not the easiest (except the final instanced boss, which was kinda… poor, I really think you guys could have done better with that creepy-crawling guy).
3. Story point? Don´t get me wrong, content itself feels good to me, but I don´t really see any story progress. I don´t even get why actually did Scarlet work on that tower… to play with us? Or what did that ending cinematic mean? I just don´t get it and I trully believe, that story could be done way better.
I like this sort of PvE content, even though I would love to see some new permanent dungeon with whole new set of weapons and armors (for normal tokens)… but that is a little bit off-topic.
Anyways, definitely one of the better content updates, thumbs up ArenaNet.
PS: I really hoped for Scarlet dying, even my 12 years old brother could write character with more depth. Scarlet just doesn´t really feel like an actual character, she feels forced, unnatural.
1. Easy to solo if you dont pull too many mobs (otherwise is your mistake)
2. ITS AN MMO omg.
It is okay the way it is now… think of it as an endgame crafting, it should not be easy. And if you do not like the farming, you are on bad address – that is what MMOs are about (speaking of crafting). Ori and Ancient wood logs should be rare and their daily spawns are okay the way they are now, imo. What I hate more is not being able to sell ascended materials, because I have loads of some while I don´t really need them and I cannot trade them for others.
This problem would not exist if they made weapons dyeable. :-)
Check the price on TP → if high enough (= at least twice as the NPC sell price, but that really depends on you) , sell it → if not, salvage it.
Do not waste money by selling it to NPCs, only if you desperately need to empty your bag.
There is a need for scalable (10 to 20, for example) man raids in this game.
For the moment, you have to choose between Zerging or grouping a 5 man team.
It’s all or nothing.
But what about a scalable event made like this :
An approach of the surrounding of the tower in PvE. Open world, zerging would be possible.
Then you would have to build a 10-20 man team entering the tower, which would be an instanced battlefield.
Finally, the upper and final levels would be a dungeon, designed for 5 mans group.
What about this ?
+ 9000 points
I love it! Give this feature to every (at least) humanoid creature in PvE! Also I like that those toxic guys feel like they actually use their skills, and I mean skills, not just one ability spam. Great update, it should be there since launch. :-)
Well, aint nobody is going to help you. You simply have two options:
1. Quit a game for a while and wait if it gets better (I´ve done that)
2. Get over it and play along
10€… expansion definitely would make me pay more.
What is this about: When there are for example just 10 players in the whole area, they should have automatically option (it would pop out just like overflow leaving option) to go to some sort of “Underflow server”, where players can play with many players from servers, which were unpopulated in that exact area on their server too.
What is the reason for this: I usually meet with this problem – I want to level my alt, but it’s just so boring I usually log back to my main after few minutes. And it’s not because I don’t like to play different classes or something, it’s just because there is almost nobody I can play with, group events are impossible, normal events are boring.
That’s the first example, the second one is similar – I see no point in returning to lower level areas on my main (except bosses with chests), and I love some of these areas pretty much, I’d love to play in these, but it isn’t fun when I meet 1 player per 20 minutes.
And the third and probably not the last reason for this: Sometimes, when I have a day off, or holidays, or anything like that… I want to spend good time in Guild Wars 2 even in the hours, when there is almost nobody playing in my region, this would be good solution, atleast I think so.
Thanks for your time guys, keep making the game great!
I like farming, that’s why I play MMOs and especially GW2 (it’s all about farming, whatever ArenaNet says…). You can’t just say that anybodys way to play isn’t worth a reward, because it’s not the way you like, that’s just stupid. And I don’t like RNG boxes, not in normal “farming world”, that’s okay, that’s how things work – I don’t like it because there are lore-based items inside that system, and that’s not right. There should be more transparent system allowing players to actually obtain weapon, not to just gamble until they get lucky. End of discussion.
I’m going to try the explorable now. I hoping it will be up to GW2’s normally great standard
Oh, well… xD
as the title says – I usually listen to some music while I play Guild Wars 2 and I like switching between songs in my playlist without need of leaving the game window – I use media buttons on my keyboard to it. They used to work in the game until the last update came out. I can still use them while I am in any other game, or application, so I guess it’s the games focus what is causing the block. I tried to switch to windowed mode in the game, but it didn’t help. I am using AIMP3 as the media player on Windows 8.
It’s not a big deal, but still… why did you guys block media buttons and do you know any possible solution to this little problem? :-)
Thanks for your time.
My point of view…
+ Saves me alot of money (I am poor student)
+ Saves me alot of time -> I used to play World of Warcraft on official servers (mostly because private servers sucked alot) and paying for game was making daily login as some kind of “must” -> it forced me to get rid of other hobbies. I don’t want that.
- ArenaNet has to make much more RNG kitten because people love to gamble with their money -> and ArenaNet needs money, the game needs money
- Support doesn’t have as high quality as in P2P MMOs (again, I am comparing to Blizzard and their WoW)
- Content is more likely temporary, because it makes people login more often than permanent content -> they have to find some way to force us to play, anyway, I find this much more “natural” and friendly than payment way…
- If you want to look so kittening good with the newest weapon, you just have to buy it via the real money (if you are not crazy farmer)
As you can see, I have 2 pros and 4 cons… but don´t take it in direct comparsion, because these 2 pros are very important to me and it makes me play Guild Wars 2 instead of any monthly payed MMO game. Maybe I could find any other pros and cons, but I wanted to write in only the most imporatnt ones (to me).
And one important point – Guild Wars 2 crushes every (EVERY) other no-payment MMORPG game on the market, these “free to play” kittens in which you have “pay to win” system just can’t be compared to really fine GW2 system, which isn’t forcing us to pay for… well, just being able to play.
I have this problem since beta… yet nobody fixed it. Anyways, I have 99% solution for it, but it’s always temporary for your current instance of the game – go to options, switch text language to anything else you are using, e.g. I am using English, so I switch to French and then back to English… that makes TP reload and voilá, it works.
As I said, I am doing this since beta and still working for me, although I find it very sad, that it has not been 100% fixed even after a year of playing.
(Windows 8 32bit)
Even if they would give us three slots… then are people going to ask for four slots, and so on.
Thanks for your answers, I’ll take my time to consider movement…
it has been a long time since I’ve finished all the story missions on my main character, except the last one – defeat of Zhaitan. I just let it be and I started doing “normal endgame stuff” like farming, running CoF, running events, doing Living Story… and yeah, that’s where my post is going.
A few months ago, I read a statement by ArenaNet, that they are not going to make any expansion packs (I hope that I have right informations, otherwise this post is pointless). At first, I didn’t mind, “expanding the game with periodic updates into a brand new game” sounded awesome… please, don’t get me wrong, except the boring farming part of Flame & Frost (the reason why I didn’t get Molten Gauntlets) I really enjoy the whole idea and content of Living Story, but it’s just not good enough compared to normal story.
I realized it this evening, after I finnaly killed Zhaitan – although I expected something little bit harder, I did really enjoy it, it was EPIC and HUGE. And that’s what I miss in the Living Story. The actual story telling, the actual “big enemy” we have to defeat or we all die in pain. The actual feeling of “epic win, let’s celebrate, where’s champagne?!”, which I had after finishing story mode.
I really hope that Living Story is just some kind of prepairing for huge expansion pack with new story, new enemy and new world to explore. If not, I would be dissapointed and I hope that I am not alone.
Well… thank you ArenaNet for great story mode experience, but Living Story (at this moment) just can’t replace the whole new “expansion pack-like” story. I definitely would pay for expansion notwithstanding the fact, that game still isn’t perfect, but for me, it’s the best on the market. ArenaNet knows how to give things so kitten epic feeling and I hope that they are going to use that ability for good stuff.
Peace and love to you guys… and as you say, see you in the game! :-)
Hey, I’ve never done this before, so I’d like to ask before I do something… if I change my server, does it make me leave my current guild? And how about servers in different region?
Thanks for your time guys.
I will not be satisfied until I can ride a karka.
Let me die happy, Anet.
You’re the mount, karka’s ride you instead, and thus they die happy!
You sir, you’ve just earned a medal.
Wow, thanks for reviving this… this is the most awesome thing that can appear in MMORPG game. I would even pay to have access into “Reforged” Orr. Too bad people can’t make modifications to the game like they do in some other multiplayer genres.
“What do I do along the way to 80 apart from ginding out the Hearts?”
Crafting, story dungeons, WvW, PVP, whatever you want to…
“I noticed the dungeon in the Charr area but don’t dungeons give level80 armour? Should I be doing that dungeon now or lvl80?”
Story mode dungeons unlock explorable dungeons -> explorables are mainly for level 80. And no, dungeons don’t give level 80 armor only -> you get tokens by completing exploration modes which you can change for rare quality equipment at level at which you’ve unlocked the story mode. Anyway, story mode dungeons are for levels at which they unlock.
There are many other dungeons and game informs you via the mail once you unlock them, I am not sure, but I guess there is every 10 levels new story dungeon since AC.
You can go to WvW even without level 80. You won’t be as powerful as level 80 players (mostly because of gear), but you won’t be useless. You can also level up in WvW.
And also, 100% map completion isn’t necessary, if you don’t want to go for legendary.
I love filling in polls so… I filled in even though I doubt it being useful. :-D
Don’t try to farm crates, it’s waste of time. Just play and hope for a drop.
I don’t get your point. You’re sad and you want to stop playing because of temporary content? Well… as you said, goodbye. Temporary content is the essence of Guild Wars 2, if you don’t like it, I guess there is no other solution for you. Good luck in other games.
After my experience in Flame & Frost I’ve decided not to spend any more money on this sort of stuff. I’ll spend it once upon a time if I run out of BL Salvage Kits and maybe on more bag slots in future, but that’s all. Sorry ArenaNet, but not this way.
Wow, nice observation!
Yeah, if ArenaNet wants to make SC more alive even after this LS chapter, they should link it with the rest of the world more than it is right now. Thumbs up to this thread!
I hope there will be a group dungeon, not just in the end, but even during the whole Living Story chapter. Personally, I’d love to see more than just one dungeon during the whole LS chapter. What about some sort of “pre-dungeons”, which you have to complete before going into the final one? That would be awesome. Group dungeons are one of the very reasons, why I like playing MMO games.
I am really happy about bringing Southsun back to life, because I’ve missed most of the Karka content last year, and I really don’t find going around alone funny, since the Southsun is pretty dead for last few months. Looking forward to see many people fighting Karka monsters again!

Dailies are good, they are not forcing me to log into the game every day, even though I really need Ascended stuff, I can get over the fact, that it will take a little bit longer because I don’t have time to play every day. But there is a good point – it could be good if Laurels would be achievable through different ways than dailies/monthlies.
I’d love to see this sort of feature in game – I’d like to see builds of best players, I’d like to show me friends my character even without logging into the game… and guys – it wouldn’t be just about armor/weapon sets, e.g. you can see how far is your friend progressing fractals, or which paths of exploration dungeons he has successfully made. I really enjoyed using Armory while I was playing WoW and I’d love to see it in Guild Wars 2.
I want to say a big thanks to everybody, who was working on SAB content. It reminded me of good old childhood times playing these old-school games, which really don’t make any sense to my younger brother, especially from audio/visual point of view. When I showed him SAB and told him, that games in the past were kinda like this, he just said “Weird, I wouldn’t play that.”… which made me realize how much the times have changed.
Once more, thanks for renewing my memories. :-)
15 chests and no tickets. Seriously… that’s really low rate and I really hate myself for spending money on such a waste. This really discourages me from playing and especially PAYING. Next time, I will think about my money more wisely…
