I know that Anet wont do anything about any account problems, but I needed to say that this is a horribly implemented system that seems like it wasn’t though through with the player in mind.
I’m offended!
Submit a support ticket and we’ll take care of that for you.
Hey folks, we’ve just enabled /v2/items. Documentation isn’t quite ready yet but I’ll be talking to poke and we’ll go from there.
Querying it is identical to the other /v2 APIs.

There’s a fix in testing right now, I can’t give an ETA on when it reach live, but it has been addressed. As you mentioned, the story step works fine solo, but will stall with 2+ players.
Somehow you skipped past a tripwire and you’re not on the final step.
The objective in the screenshot is “Escape from the burning ark.” On reaching a tripwire that’s in the stairway of the main deck, it switches to “Get to the ark’s highest point.” and that’s when it will indicate the top deck and signal the chopper rescue when you reach the top. I don’t know if you used a skill to teleport past the tripwire, or rushed ahead and got ahead of the story step, but if you run back down and go down the stairs from the main deck, it should update the objective.
Yowzers that was a lot to read! You guys have been busy. I dropped that line that I needed to get caught up and then the size of this thread more than doubled! I’ll apologize in advance for not calling out who some of the ideas in this post are coming from but there were too many posts to keep it all straight.
There are a number of great ideas circulating attacking the problem from different angles and with varying levels of magnitude of change. One note though, I really feel that scoring is a separate issue that needs to be addressed on it’s own. We will discuss that one after we wrap this one up. Even if we were to overhaul the scoring system population imbalance will still be an issue.
From reading through this thread I think we can agree on the following goals:
There were a number of other goals but I think those are the two big ones. I’m going to combine a number of your ideas to attempt to address this problem with a proposal and see what you guys think.
First off, as many of you have pointed out, it will be impossible to create equal populations without moving people around. As several others have pointed out we don’t want to break apart communities. This has been a really tough one for all of us. I know all about server pride. At the risk of having people scream “MATCH THREAD” and red card me off the forums, I’ll let you know that I have been known to pipe up in meetings with “SBI TILL I DIE” because it’s where I play with my friends and family members. So I’ve had the same reaction that many of you had when merges have come up in discussion. Through Adopt-A-Dev I’m now repping the DR crowd and I’ve learned that these guys on DR don’t all have three heads and eat puppies (unless they are really cool) and while it did feel a little dirty to fight SBI last week it was still great fun.
Anyway, this discussion made it clear it is who you play with that’s important and a number of ideas in this thread preserved that without restricting the number of people who could play at a time. These have had a number of names but for the sake of discussion I’ll go with Alliances. The idea that I liked for Alliances is that it is a group of guilds and people that are guaranteed to stay together no matter how things are rearranged. There would probably need to be a size limit on Alliances and several of you pointed out that whatever limits are put in place it should be based on WvW participation.
A few of you noted that things will always be changing over time so the system would have to be dynamic. There are a couple of ways of addressing this discussed in this thread. An idea that would be a small incremental change to how the game plays would be to create a new set of worlds then fill them up with our Alliances of guilds and players that are guaranteed to always play together. This would happen at regular intervals, the intervals were all over the map as were the size of the worlds in this thread so I will propose this cadence:
This cycle would take a few months given the cadence of tournaments we have had which is about the time that we would want to rebalance populations. After the restructure, players could transfer like they do now if they so desired.
Alliances would provide continuity for the community. I see the server pride of today becoming Alliance pride because of that continuity. But I also see the off season as a time for the newly formed world of alliances to develop their own identity as they head into the tournament. Keep in mind that if an alliance was big enough to fill a world that mapping becomes one to one. If that became the case maybe the world could just take the alliance name. It’s interesting because that time together gives everyone involved a chance to see if they all want to ally together to truly solidify into a world. If not, you are still playing with your community for the glory of your alliance in the next restructure. But your community would be playing with other communities new to you and maybe this new bunch is a better fit for you and an opportunity for your alliance to grow.
The pieces for this idea comes from a number of posts in this thread. There are also some thoughts in there from some discussions I’ve had with several guild leaders. I just glommed it all together into something that I think could be a workable solution. I do want to emphasize though that this is all brainstorming
Let me know your thoughts and thanks again for all the great and constructive discussion!

What’s wrong with Tacos? They’re delicious!
Also our TacoProxy is unaffiliated with tacoproxy.com, for the record.
Every single major update has several changes not mentioned in the update notes though.
Yes, and I’m asking about that. I’m not new to ArenaNet, but I’m rather new to having greater Update Note visibility, and I’d like to understand things better.
I checked with the developer and yes, that was part of the September 22nd build. I don’t know that I should go into published notes and add a string about that, but you are right, it was added on that date (and I agree, it’s a positive that I would have loved our players to see.
)
I am frequently amazed by the clever and helpful tools that our players make, to the benefit of all. Thanks, Sroced.
Good advice, anzenketh. That’s really helpful and I’m sure Informer will give that a good look.
I’m sorry that happened, Imp. You can transfer for free (if you delete your characters, which might be ok for a new player — see the linked article) but there is that cooldown period, and we don’t have the ability to reduce it.
Hey! You could guest on a few servers and find the one you want to move to, then be ready to pounce when the option arises!
Just a quick note: Please don’t swear. The filter caught it, and it’s fine, but best to not go even with the mild swearing or, if you see a “kitten” change the word to something else. Again, no biggie, just wanted to mention.

That’s good feedback, Jerus. I sense that you haven’t had slow load times, which is good to know.
I will leave it be and check back for feedback in a day or so. If it’s “Please put me out of my misery and split the thread11!11” I’ll do so. Otherwise, it seems just grand as it is.
I wasn’t aware that this happened, Charrbeque. (Dang I <3 that name!)
As you know, we pride ourselves on having very detailed update notes; it’s part of the transparency policy we try to exhibit across the board. But sometimes there are so many working parts — or working teams — that something gets missed in the notes.
I just talked to two folks in QA and with some team members who work on the Trading Post. This is a new element, as you pointed out, but I don’t know precisely when it was implemented.
Thanks for posting to make us aware that we might want to add to the notes, and thanks for your positive reaction to the change!
Congrats on the find (and the profit
). That’s amazing!
One trick you can try, in GW1 talk to Kimmes and cycle between personal and account achievements, then log out and back in. Sometimes that helps to activate the achievements.
^This. If you’ve done this already and you are still unable to get your rewards, please submit a ticket so that an agent can look into your particular situation.
Hey guys,
This is a good thread, although I just spotted a few posts that made me pause. Ah, you’re quoting someone on another forum, I get it.
What I noticed was the enormous size of the thread. I wanted your advice about whether we should close it so we can start a new thread. That doesn’t mean “Hey, new thread, post again!” and it bloats up to 4,000 posts.
But the forums sometimes load slowly for me, and if it would be helpful, we could do something like split it into two — Part I, Part 2 — and lock the first to keep load times reason.
Let me know what y’all think about the thread (as far as load times):
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Informer, I really admire your goal, and I wish you all the best in achieving it! One thing I think is good to keep in mind, even while you have that goal, is that there’s no timer ticking, and you can take your time, enjoy the game, and get that awesome legendary, too.
I have to say, I love the swoosh!

If you’re having an issue, you are welcome to contact the Customer Support Team for assistance. Please submit a ticket by clicking “Support” at the top of this page and then clicking the “Submit a request” option. Provide as much information as possible in the web form, which will create a ticket within the support system. If you do not know some of the information requested, leave the field blank. However, there are two drop-down areas that require an answer so be sure to choose from those fields so the ticket is properly submitted. Once you’ve done that, the CS Team should be able to help you.
I’m enormously fond of Lion’s Arch, and I dream of the day when it’s back to its former glory. I guess if you look at this in realistic terms, suffish and Stramatus are right: If it’s going to happen, the process would take time. After all, Rome wasn’t (re)built in a day.
I see more workers these days, and hey, CrimeDog, that’s one big rock!

What level is your character? If you’re under L80, Chapter 8 is locked. Previously, it was possible to do some of the Chapter 8 steps at lower levels, but they’ve all been boosted to L80 and unlock at once.
Gaile-
I’ve polled my guild to ask them what they want to do. ~snip~
I like this idea. We all have guilds, so it’s great to weigh in on behalf of a guild. Naturally, guild members often gravitate to one another because of shared interests, so if a guild called Ranger Raiders said “we need more powerful Ranger skills” I might look at them a bit skeptically.
On the other hand, guilds also have people with a wide variety of opinions, so feel free to ask your guildies about this question if you wish.
I should say something here: I am not posting this in the same official sense that Chris posts his CDIs. This started as a casual question of general interest to me — in part because I saw so many different thoughts on the matter! So I just want to ask that you don’t build expectations about any sort of special outcome as a result of this thread. Having said that, accumulated information can be valuable to the devs, so do feel free to post if you care to do so!
I think some of you are going to get smote for going over the 100 word challenge :P
I was reading this in reverse order and as I scrolled up I couldn’t help but notice that there’d be quite a few smited bodies littering the forums if we held to the 100-word limit.
Oh, you FINISHED the fear storyline, sorry I missed that. That means you’re on Chapter 8, which unlocks at L80.
What level is your character? Chapter 3 will unlock at L30.
What level us your character? Chapter 7 unlocks at L70, so it’s likely the character is below the (new) storyline level.
Hey NSKL,
Thanks for bumping this post. I will put this on my list of things y’all would like to see included in a future update and get it passed on to the development team.

Noxid,
Are you trying to access a GW1 account? Update your ticket and let the agent know. I was unable to find an account with the info you provided.
When opening TP and doing a search of lets say everything I get a very limited list of items with a message saying I’ve reached my max results. Now, if I enter into EG mode I get a list that I believe it is safe to assume is about 5x as long.
Sorry if I wasn’t clear but I wasn’t posting about changes to searching/browsing behavior when buying. I was specifically talking about “My Transactions” which now returns up to 1000 current buy listings and 1000 current sell listings without needing to enable EG mode.
For those who want to main Phlunt you can petition for this little game (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-Asuraball-Make-this-official/4438817) to become official and then petition to make the ball look like Phlunt. Story wise it could be a petty vengeance from Taimi where she creates golems/holograms that look like Phlunt for the game.
This is a fun idea—I can’t promise it’ll be anything other than an idea, but if we ever were to go forward with it, I would push hard for it to be called “Punt Phlunt.”
The correct thing to do is to email forums@arena.net.
I’ve used https://code.google.com/p/rolling-curl/ in the past with success, looks like it might be a similar implementation.
Hi, I just dropped in to say that tickets are really important to us – they are one of the ways the dev team is able to get more detail about an issue and allow us to run down a fix. We appreciate the time people take to fill them out, so thank you for that.
Since I know someone will ask, we have continued to work on these issues but I have nothing exciting to report yet. Thanks.
Hey Guys,
Normally I like to summarize the discussion as it is happening but today I’ve been away from my desk for most of the day and just popped on to see that we are at 6 pages! YIKES! It’s going to take me a bit to catch up because I read every post in a thread that I’m engaging in. I’m making this post to let you know that I am reading this thread but I’d like to absorb everything everyone is discussing before I make my next response.
Thanks,
John
Epic, without a ticket number, there’s not a whole lot we can do for you via the forums. We are, however, still working on the issue. If you (or your girlfriend) are missing emails you expected to receive, you are right to be worried about email compromise. Please check out the articles on our support site about security to protect yourself.
I also specifically recommend setting up the mobile authenticator for your account, and for your girlfriend to do the same once she’s able to log in. Using mobile auth is more convenient than email auth (since you don’t have to worry about getting emails or having the links work) and more secure (since even if your email account is compromised, no one can get into your GW2 account without the mobile code).
Another update… We’re testing a fix right now, but as usual I can’t give an ETA since it still has to go through QA for confirmation before it’s put into a Live update.
Alright, I’ll try.
There is no challenge in anything after two years,
Hmm, hardcore mode? If the character dies, it’s gone for good. Can not WP back to life, can not be rezzed from full dead(dead, not downed). If the character has any rare or better equipment it gets auto-sent to the mail box, otherwise it’s deleted along with the character. Make a new char and start over.
How far can you make it on one life?
Permadeath. I have two character slots for this. Fun times.
How far can you get? ~curious~
Well over 100 words, so try not to shoot me with the Smiting Bow of Fools
Yes, it is with regret that I inform you that you are totally smote.
Points earned in the Hall of Monuments after the accounts have been linked will still count. You will need to visit the ghost of Kimmes in the Ruins of the Hall of Monuments in Guild Wars 2 once you have earned a new reward in order to obtain it.
This is really, really good stuff. Sure, it’s all over the map — that’s expected. I don’t know that even in time we’d see “Yes, we all want [this one thing] most of all.” But really, thank you for posting your thoughts. Keep ’em coming!
Submitting a ticket is the best way for us to collect this information from players, but on top of the information requested by Gaile, it would be incredibly helpful to get system information as well: OS, CPU, GPU, RAM, Mobo, and whatever else you feel like sharing. It would also be helpful to know what your FPS was originally, and what you’re seeing now, or if there is anything in particular that causes these FPS drops or if they’re consistently low.
Remember, the more information that you’re able to provide the more helpful this will be to us in investigating this issue.
There are those people looking for an interesting mechanic, challenging mechanics, new mechanics. From basic event-mechanics to complicated worldboss-mechanics. They wont find any interesting mechanics for the very most time in GW2.
There are the people playing for the reward. They too wont be very satisfied. The most eficient way to get gold, the dominating reward, is by far to flip the traiding post. There is almost no special or meaningful loot dedicated to specific game types. This is the discussion that we should be having. Not the discussion on if anything has/has not been added to the game. I can understand how some people based upon the issues you raised come to the conclusion that there is no “endgame”. Except that is not true. There is endgame depending on how you define it. I define endgame as things you can do when you complete the personal story and reach level 80. There is plenty of that.
So instead of claiming that there is no endgame. Perhaps we should be discussing on how to improve the endgame that we have. I honestly think that is the point that a lot of people are trying to make.
My recommendation find the boss mechanics that you like in game and ask for more similar to that. There is a wide variety of event and boss mechanics in the game.
If it is rewards that you are looking for. Post a suggestion on how you would like to be rewarded.
I agree with you. Suggestions would be wonderful: Practical, reasonably expressed, and clear. Here’s the challenge, and we’ll see if it’s possible and reasonable: Share your opinion about how to improve the end game in (roughly) 100 words or less.
I’d like to see this because I believe the effort could increase the value and focus of this thread. Doing so would give the devs a concise resource that they could kitten, and that’s always helpful to them.
Add new, instanced, group content.
This may include: New PvP types. New dungeons. New “elite” dungeons. Guild Halls. GvG.
IOW: Lots of the good “meat” of GW1 that this game is missing.
Edit: All of the above content is interpersonal. Zergs are not. Open world is not necessarily. Small social content encourages players to log on and interact with their friends.
I think that’s under 100.
That’s what I’m looking for. Thank you!
And pssst: I’m not doing a word count. You’re good.
We need challenges suited for both large groups and solo players, that shift and change depending upon both player actions and hidden variables so they don’t play out the same every time. Both types should be able to work towards better rewards, with even small gains always possible. It should be open to more than just “endgame” level 80s. The attack on LA was a good step towards this.
Interesting. Thank you, too!

That is most definitely a phishing e-mail. If you put your log-in or any personal information into any forms that the e-mail may have linked you to, please submit a ticket to our support site (linked below) and ask for an account name change. Select “Account Issue” from the drop-down menu for this particular case. You’ll need to supply us with an e-mail address that has never been associated with your Guild Wars 2 account before as well.
Additionally, ensure that the password to your e-mail account is not the same as the password to your Guild Wars 2 account; individuals who send these types of e-mails usually attempt to log in to the e-mail account first with the information that players provide to steal it in an attempt to better gain control over an account.
If any of y’all have sent in tickets and have not gotten a reply from myself or someone else in Tech Support, please PM me with the email address you used to submit the ticket. Once I have that info, I can check to see why your ticket was never received by us.
Also, has anyone had any success with using the workaround that Yifang posted above? I would like to get feedback on this so I can pass it along to the dev team.
After maybe 100+ crashes in 2days from the tp there seems to be some respite, what I did was set that coherent.exe file to open with Guild wars 2 and after that I’ve had just 1 failed tp load but at most 1 crash so it seems to have done something.

An agent replied to your ticket at roughly 3:05 AM PDT this morning. If you did not receive the reply, check your junk mail. If you can’t find it there, please check out the thread I have linked below for more steps to take to ensure that you receive our e-mails, then update your ticket by replying to it and state that you did not receive our previous response so that the agent can assist you further.
There is a noted issue with these links expiring before they should, which we’re actively looking into at this time. Apologies for the inconvenience this may cause.

It’s a hoax to get you to submit your account credentials. We don’t send warnings.
It looks like your account was compromised while you weren’t playing. Your ticket is in queue for assistance. We’re a bit backed up at the moment, so response times may be delayed. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Sorry.. we’re looking into why the web-site decided to show a piece of last weeks post.. No free items this week.
Hi All,
I am still dealing with some family issues and will update when things are back to normal.

As you may have noticed on our website, we are heading into another free trial period. In the past, you may have spotted a few problems related to free trials. For instance, gold seller spam was pretty noticeable. For this trial period, we have introduced a few restrictions that should address some of the concerns we’ve noted in the past. Here’s a list:
Here are some other details about trial accounts, so that if your friends join us – and we hope they will! – they have an understanding of how trial accounts work:
Also, FYI: there will be no guild restrictions in place, so your friend playing on a free trial account is welcome to join your guild and will be able to chat and play with you and your guild members.
