If you received an item or items in the mail today, don’t fret. It’s the Black Lion Wintersday Rewards Event distribution.
You can read about it here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Wintersday-Event-Item-Distribution/first#post3469077
(edited by Moderator)
Distribution has begun, but will take some time. Please hold tight if you don’t have your items.
I’ll post more in a few minutes!
And thanks to everyone who support the event, and the game, through your Gem Store purchases!
A lot of the ideas boiled down into variations of one of these two options, and really both have a lot of cool concepts and ideas. Can folks think of anything else that’s a bit more outside the box for something bigger?
I had suggested several times about Global Dominance system. Similar to WvW…we as players and as a server, complete events across the entire map of Tyria and receive passive bonuses based on the % of the map that we control as players. So if we leave entire zones(say the lesser traveled zones) to be completely occupied by centaurs, for example, we won’t be receiving maximum benefits. And you can use most of the existing dynamic events to accomplish this. There are many DEs that take over way points and camps that we as players can complete and push enemy NPCs back…thus acquiring a larger portion of the world.
This encourages players to play in more than one zone, get sthem out in the world, etc.
On top of this, put in a reward system for completing unique(different) dynamic events in a month. I.E. Complete 90 unique dynamic events in January and receive a Cesmode mini(just kidding). But you get the picture.
Is that big enough and outside the box?
The global dominance is a really interesting concept, and something we played with a bit back in Gw1 with the luxons/kurzicks but never really pushed far enough to make into a compelling system. Some questions and challenges that immediately come to mind with this would include: How would players playing in an overflow map make a difference, or feel like their time is being well spent? How would this work if we pursued underflow servers? How would this work for worlds that have relatively medium/low populations, or for players who play at off hours (say Australians). ? How would new players understand, and be motivated by this system, and should they be? And most importantly: How would this result in unlocking an advanced profession or advanced horizontal progression for your character? [I get how a system like this could be used for more world bonus specific rewards which is really cool, but I don’t fully see the character specific journey which was my original question]
The event idea is an interesting one, but it doesn’t feel like a “grand journey” so to speak. Do you feel like if we asked you to do 90 different events in a month, and that allowed your ranger to say become a Druid, you’d feel like that was a cool system?
I’ve noticed this as well. Any ideas on when this might have started happening?
I’ll forward this issue along to the proper stakeholders.
Thanks folks lots of really great ideas, concepts and discussion here!
I think the biggest thing I was trying to get at with my question is: what should the journey towards an alternative system of horizontal progression really be like?
Folks talked a lot about different ways you could say acquire skills other than the current system, but that’s really more a change to an existing skill acquisition system, as opposed to the journey of unlocking something like an advanced profession (or masteries) as some of you discussed.
Say for example, we decided to allow your profession to gain an additional mastery as Nike and Chuggs in particular discussed above. I think we have a lot of fun ideas in here for the journey unlock specific aspects of that mastery, but what if you first had to unlock the core “mastery” track, which then allowed you collect the smaller components? What kind of experience do you think would be compelling here as an over-all journey?
Some of the ideas I’ve really enjoyed so far from this thread include →

Let’s calm down a bit.
I’ve already had a long post explaining why TP traders are good for the game as well as limited, if you haven’t seen it, you should look it up.
As far as other ideas like the GW2 economy has rampant inflation or there are other virtual economists online that don’t approve of this economy, that’s simply not even close to true.

It’s a problem with joining the spectator team. Fix is planned for the next scheduled update.
Hmmm, isn’t that a bit…dangerous? If somebody gets access to such an account, they literally take over your entire life… Yes, I’ve grown paranoid over the last few days.
On the paranoid note: Support decided to mail my new log in address to the old e-mail. I deleted it roughly 3h after it arrived(I sleep at night), didn’t seem to have been touched… Should I be worried?
My advice: Can’t be too careful. Update the ticket through the NEW email address. Tell them what happened and ask that they auto-generate you a NEW password and send it only to that address. Explain that if the system sends to both the old and new addresses, that can put your account at risk. In this situation, the agent may be ahead to manually reset and not send you an auto-generated password. If he/she does that, simply change the password to something of your choosing once you access the account.
Replying does not reposition a ticket in the queue. If you are No. 10 and update your ticket, it remains at No. 10 until it moves up the queue.
If he needs a follow-up, please post in the Tickets for Review thread, but please read the “Trouble Getting our Emails” post here, because if he’s using one of a few email providers, they may be blocking the mails and there are tips in that post about how to work around that problem.
Hey CC, you think we can create Fractals Subforum? Normally those topics are inside of Dungeons subforum, but it’s a clash of two communities. While Fractals are having their own reward system, battle system, agony resistance system, I think they deserve their own subforum where discussions would not clash with those of dungeons. What do you think?
If you wish to pitch the idea, drop an email to forums@arena.net so we can discuss it.
Wait…isn’t this idea of Romo’s a suggestion? lol I don’t even know where to post stuff anymore.
Yes, but it wasn’t a game suggestion.
Suggestions for the Community Team regarding the forum should come directly to us. Hope that helps.
I assume the lore forum is going to be expanded upon, right? So players can talk everything story-related there, like the living story and the personal story.
What I can say is that we are not finished with the forum changes.
As there has not been any inflammatory remarks in this thread, I’m not sure why there was a reminder regarding the moderation of threads. Maybe I’m personally missing something.
Just to help keep things transparent in the process…there have been 5 posts on this thread which you aren’t seeing. Hence the request to keep it constructive and respectful to all.
There’s quite a few good discussion threads that have been moved to the trashcan, just because one or two posters made nonconstructive posts.
I wanted to touch on this specifically.
First, our forum software does not allow us to split off posts from threads. Our only course is to lock a thread, delete each post, or remove the whole thread.
Second, we’ve been working with the Moderation Team to try to save or even close the threads, versus removing the whole thing. There are a lot more threads out there which are receiving Moderator notices when they go off the rails, so folks can get back on-topic. Our hope is that with a more streamlined forum, we can concentrate on making the experience better.
I much prefer to keep a thread, unless it goes off the rails. If we have more infractions in a post than we have good posts, it is easier to remove it or lock it, so the discussion can “reboot” as it were.
Given certain trolls seem to be free to post as they please and mods frequently edit posts to make language less negative i doubt this is a good thing,
In regards to coming across posts that violate the rules, rather than reply in kind, please report any Code of Conduct violations you come across. Thousands up thousands of posts are made every single day and although we wish we could review them all, it’s just not physically possible, so any assistance we can get from players like you using the report function are greatly appreciated.
From what I heard, they want people to make suggestions in the sub-forums most related to the area of the game. I’m not sure how useful that will be in the long-run though; it’ll be better in the sense that it will foster more discussion from players interested in that game’s aspect, but having suggestions spread out across the forums may make it harder to keep track of them, especially on sub-forums that are very fast-moving.
I’ll quote myself from another thread:
We want people to make suggestions in the sub-forums which make sense for their ideas. As example, if you have an idea about sPvP, you can and should post it in the sPvP sub-forum.
The development teams are very excited about this change.
So if you have a suggestion about the forum ? I doubt the “Forum Bugs” section would be the place to go post “Suggestions” on..
You can email forums@arena.net so the whole Community Team can see your suggestion. That being said, you’re making a fair point. Would this be something which would be valuable?

Ah! Now I remember our conversation. We discussed this in a Support Ticket back on December 16th. Here’s the response for you again:
If your browser settings are set for the various languages, you can review them here:
English (United Kingdom) – https://www.guildwars2.com/en-gb/legal/guild-wars-2-user-agreement/
French – https://www.guildwars2.com/fr/legal/guild-wars-2-user-agreement/
German – https://www.guildwars2.com/de/legal/guild-wars-2-user-agreement/
Spanish – https://www.guildwars2.com/es/legal/guild-wars-2-user-agreement/
If you change your browser languages appropriately, you will see the corresponding user agreements. As example, if you are using Chrome, you can go into your settings and allow for English (United Kingdom), French, Spanish, and German. Once you have done that, you will see the appropriate User Agreements.
If you change your language to one of our other supported languages, you can then click on the User Agreement page and see it in French, German, or Spanish.
The thread wasn’t deleted from the revamp; it was removed because it discussed botting/hacking and whatnot, which is not allowed on the forum. Just in case anyone wondered where the previous thread went.

Hello all,
We do not mind a discussion about the changes, but please keep it on-topic without inflammatory comments or we will need to close the thread. As always, you can give suggestions about the forums and the forum structure directly to the Community Team at forums@arena.net
Well, Fort Aspenwood, of course.

Found this ticket. I asked an agent to take a look and there was a lapse between the name uncensoring and the removal of the suspension. You should be good to go now. We’re sorry for this error.
Update: Hooray for cross-posting.
Glad you could confirm that all is well!
Found this ticket. I asked an agent to take a look and there was a lapse between the name uncensoring and the removal of the suspension. You should be good to go now. We’re sorry for this error.
Since the sub-forum is now archived, we’re closing this topic.
Let’s be clear:
Customer Support can change #1 and 2. You can change #3 with the purchase of a Name Change Contract in the Gem Store. We will change #4 only in cases of a security risk.
Please contact Support if you need assistance with an Account/User name change.
Here you go: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Infinite-Gathering-Tools-Some-Info-for-you/first#post3223441
I think that will help?
Yes, an agent can assist you after verifying your ownership of the account, of course.
Nope! They’re still reviewed.
We want people to make suggestions in the sub-forums which make sense for their ideas. As example, if you have an idea about sPvP, you can and should post it in the sPvP sub-forum.
So where should a thread like this one go? https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/suggestions/Guild-System-Improvements/page/4
There is no sub-forum about guild-tools.
Right here in General Discussion.
I am so glad that this happened. When you explained all those details, I was very, very curious about what I would find in the ticket to tell me that the account could not be restored. And lo! I see that it was restored yesterday — hooray! I think this happened because you updated your original ticket and asked some very valid questions, and provided a bit more info, too.
Thank you for bearing with us, Alex, and for allowing us to correct the error that initially resulted in a less-than-satisfactory answer. We will work on making sure that we continue with our policy and our practice to restore an account whenever the situation allows it. As yours, happily, did!
Welcome back to Tyria!
From the character selection screen, click on “World Selection” (lower left corner) and select the server you want to guest on, and click on “Guest”. DO NOT select “Transfer” or it will charge you gems to permanently transfer your account.
Guesting will let you do the challenge on another server.
Is the event to defeat her running? I just did this challenge on a test server without any issues. So she’s hostile, and reducing her to 0 hp causes her to instantly heal and remain hostile?
Jaybird, I just heard in a meeting today that a few of our Mac players are having password problems. Do you happen to be playing on the Mac platform? Just curious.
In any regard, an agent will get back to you soon and help get this resolved for you, but the suggestion from AP would definitely do the trick, too.
Yep! We just made this change 30 minutes ago and they are aware of it.
Please submit a ticket by visiting the Support link above and then clicking “Submit a request” in the upper right-hand section of that linked page. The team should be able to assist you quite quickly with this.
For tips on what information to provide in a ticket — mostly intended for security reasons to establish that you own the account — please read this post and provide as many suggested details as possible to expedite the ticket.
Bump. Bumpity bump bump.
Nope! They’re still reviewed.

Hello, our Soundcloud was recently updated with this piece. It can be found here:
Hello folks,
You are welcome to debate this as you wish. However, leave the insults, name-calling, and other personal attacks out of the discussion.
I said I’d update when I had more information! It looks like our next episode will be January 17th. We’ll have some of the balance guys on to talk about some of the proposed changes for the next balance update.
I’ll put a post up next week with all of the specifics.
I think we should all take a moment to thank Chris Whiteside. Whether or not our ideas or suggestions see the light of day, hes been on these forums almost every day during the holiday/vacation. Its good to see that type of dedication with an employee of any company.
So thank you Chris for your hard work during this CDI!
I would like to thank you all for spending your time and rocking it in making GW2 the very best game it can be!
Chris
As a customer, if I don’t get a response, I follow up. You admit you did not. And you know, from the previous comments, that it was our intention to respond to each and every person as quickly as possible, even during a very busy time.
We value our players and we do our best to help each one. Sometimes, issues beyond our control, such as ISPs blocking our mails make it impossible for us to respond or to get our response all the way through to the player. Sometimes an agent errs and closes a ticket when meaning to respond. In each case, we very much want to help, but this is a partnership, and the player owns some responsibility, too. When you didn’t hear, you should have written again, posted in the forums in the Tickets for Review thread. Essentially, you should have helped us help you.
If you want help with that account, go to the top of the page, click “Support” and then “Submit a request” and a team member will assist you.
Greetings all,
Today we are implementing some of the forum changes which we spoke about on this post: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Guild-Wars-2-Forum-Moderation-Updates/
This week, you will be seeing various sub-forums move around and some of the general structure will change. We’re not just removing and moving sub-forums, but we’ll even be adding a sub-forum that many of you have requested!
We’re excited about this change, as it will allow our team to find quality posts and suggestions. We know that many of you feel there has not been much “dev attention” in some of the sub-forums, so hopefully you’ll love these new changes once they’ve all been implemented.
Hi All,
I am back at work now and was just enjoying the last few days of my vacation.
It is awesome to see you all discussing the ‘Journey’ side of Horizontal Progression with Colin. Once that discussion has finished I will help us put a proposal together for both the ‘Journey’ and the ‘Reward’ and we can go from there.
Meanwhile Lee from GW2 Hub has posted an interview with me about the CDI. If you get a chance check it out and enjoy the fruits of your hard work:

Chris
In review of this thread, it appears that most of it strayed off-topic and the Moderation Team had to remove many inappropriate posts. With that in mind, this thread will be closed. If you wish to start a new thread, regarding the original topic, you are welcome to do so, as long as you keep personal attacks and inappropriate material out of it.
Fixed. Thanks!
We should have a fix for this included in the next update, barring any complications.
