Can we pick our own Dragon's Watch members?

I think it would be fun to let the players choose a certain team to recruit to Dragon’s Watch – for example, five out of a choice of ten characters.

Canach would be top of my list, but I could avoid picking Braham. I’d also like to recruit Hobo-tron (of whatever he’s currently called – Hero-Tron perhaps?). I’m a fan of redemption.

Anyway, it would enable the player to have slightly different versions of the LS depending on their team and it would make it more engaging to play. If you chose a different team make up on your alts, you could see a whole variety of ways of solving problems.

I guess it would be pretty hard to actually do this, but I’d definitely like a guild of Canach, Hobo-Tron, Rox (with Frostbite and Garm), Rytlok and Taimi.

Hmm….I’m not the only one with this problem. I thought it was just my internet last night. Everything was working fine until about 11pm and since then the trading post has been so slow that it’s impossible to buy or sell more than two items before being overwhelmed by error messages.

I hope it gets fixed soon. It’s bugging the gem store on my game too so there some extra financial motivation to get it working again.

Oh – and if it helps, I’m on Aurora Glade. Also, I got a message about being unable to access the log in server or something shortly before the problems, but the game itself didn’t crash (it just froze for a few seconds). I was fighting the Karka queen at the time.

Yes, I understand that some people prefer the new ones (it seems like a minority), but there’s no reason that they can’t be rotated with the server resets. Seems like a good compromise. Future map could be introduced into the rota, too.

Jumping puzzle achievement

With the new borderland map now in use it’s impossible for people to get the three borderland jumping puzzle achievements. That makes it impossible for them to complete all the jumping puzzles.

Is it possible to either move the achievements to the historical category, make them accessible via the wvw panel (like obsidian sanctum) or – my personal favourite- bring the old borderland maps back. Even if it’s rotated with the new one.

Just please, please, please don’t add them to the new maps! It takes so long to get anywhere and I can never find anyone on them – allies or foes. Part of the fun of the wvw jp is that there are potential enemies in them. Not so fun on a dead map or when you have to run a marathon just to get back to the jp if you die.

I really enjoyed the event. I’m sad that my computer kept crashing in the middle of it, but at least I got to join in a lot of the events. Thank you all for hosting it. You did a great job!

Thanks a lot! I switch to away sometimes and often forget to turn ‘online’ on again. I can’t remember what my status was when I joined the groups, but I’ll keep trying with online only and hopefully it’ll be good.

I’ve had several problems over the last month where I joined a party listed on the open world lfg panel and find that all the other members are on NA servers so we can’t play together. It’s frustrating because it works exactly the same as usual – I can even see the blue dots running around – but we can’t actually join each other’s maps.

Please, either fix the lfg or allow EU players and NA players to join each others maps.

I am on Aurora Glade (but my current geographic location is in Japan). It seemed to work fine until the Halloween stuff disappeared.

Add LS to the bug report

There should be an option on the in-game bug report for living story content bugs. At the moment the nearest option is ‘personal story’, but the subheadings are not always relevant.

The older living story chapters will probably be played less often and bugs might occur with future updates. Having a clear way to report them will hopefully help Anet fix them faster. Quicker fixes mean happier players…especially if people are paying in gems (and therefore real money) to buy past living story content.

Maybe you could uncheck the costume box at the top in case it’s interfering with the way the dye is being saved? It doesn’t look like you have a costume equipped anyway so it couldn’t hurt.

LS bug blocks progress

I was busy so I’m a few weeks behind on the LS. I’m doing the Dragon’s Reach pt 1 now, but I’m being blocked by an event in Frostgorge.

I’m supposed to help and NPC called Fenris blow up a gate, but he’s just standing there with a bunch of dolyaks (and disgruntled players who are also prevented from continuing their stories).

Is there a patch for this coming? Or is there any way to get past this part of the living story without the event?

I’d like it to become one map sized, labyrinthine jumping puzzle. I think that would be fun – especially if it had lots of nice chests and lootable enemies on it. Of course, I’d like all the old features of LA restored too (bank, mystic fountain, tp, raisin-face).

I’m pretty sure my idea is not on the Anet drawing board so I guess I’ll just have to dream….

I get that Scarlet was the villain, but I felt horrible listening to Marjory and the others joke about her death.

Previous LS updates established that she’s been driven crazy by some external force that she encountered in the Eternal Alchemy and could no longer mentally fight it. We should pity her or mourn for those she’s killed, not make childish jokes about what it felt like to deliver the death blow.

Not to be rude here, but I’m genuinely curious – do dialogue ideas get checked before they are added? If so, did no one suggest that joking about killing a mentally unstable character might be in poor taste?

I think having a report feature for trolling is a good idea, but probably wouldn’t accomplish anything because the only way to get flagged for trolling would be to state your intent in map chat.

Unless someone has specifically typed something incriminating in the chat box, it would be almost impossible for the person (or computer) checking the reports to judge another player’s motives. There are too many variables – lack of skill/understanding of the event, lag and disconnects or even language barrier. To avoid banning innocent people, Anet would probably not ban without evidence. The trolls would continue being jerks, but they wouldn’t say it out loud? I don’t think anything would improve.

Besides, the report feature would give the trolls another way to mess with other players.

You can get 250 before the event ends. There are about 40 rubble piles on the map and you can loot them each once a day. You can find a map of all the rubble locations on Dulfy’s website.

Don’t forget to exchange all of your heirlooms before the update on March 18th because the vendor will disappear.

For me two – three weeks is a fine amount of time for each LS update. The flame and frost story arc was released once a month and seemed a bit too long, but I think the achievements were harder to get…not necessarily more challenging, but it would be quite difficult to get them all in one night so people played the content for longer.

Now, I find that I can get over 50% of the LS achievements in the first two hours without really trying. Participation drops a lot after the first week, which is unfortunate because several of the recent personal achievements are impossible to complete by yourself. Having bugged content doesn’t inspire people to keep playing it either.

I think that if Anet continues with the two week release schedule, they should form a couple more LS teams so that each team will have longer to polish the content before it goes live.

The ultimate bag is the one you get in the chest after you defeat the holograms on the breach maker.

sigh I’ve not even been able to defeat the holos the last 3 times that I got up there because there were just too few people. Also, many of the ones who did take part seemed to be doing it for the first time and didn’t seem to know what was happening for a large part of the fight.

It’s a shame that there aren’t any rewards for beating at least some of the hologram phases. For example, a bonus chest if you only manage to get past the first giant holo with one level dependent item. You could get a chest with a couple of items and maybe some dragonite ore if you get past the three colour holos stage. At least it wouldn’t just be a wasted half hour if you fail the overall event.

It’s a shame the cores don’t have the colour listed in the description, but people will usually link stuff for you in map chat if you ask. Just double check next time before you put the items in the mystic forge.

The cores are not too expensive on the TP now so you could always stock up on them now to create the red one in the future. Just make sure you have the LS related material (e.g. the recipe and cores) before it stops dropping as loot.

I felt like more of a sidekick to the NPCs than a hero. It’s not like I was their first choice to plant a flag in Scarlet, either. The only reason I got to finish Scarlet was because all of the other NPCs were either injured or busy.

Also, I was annoyed that Braham wouldn’t let Scarlet explain herself. I know it’s cliche for the villain to explain their evil plots, but I was and am still a bit confused.

For the last couple of days my sylvari thief’s head has been randomly disappearing for 30 seconds or so.

It doesn’t impact gameplay or anything, but it’s kind of creepy… The glitch seems to be random – this afternoon it happened after I used a wp, and again after being hit by a hologram’s laser.

I’m not sure whether this is a game bug or something unique to my computer. Anyone else have this problem?

(Suggestion) LS character bonus missions

I’d love to play through a bonus mission as Rox or Marjory.

GW 1 offered a bonus mission pack where you could play through an important event in four different characters’ lives and it was a great idea.

It was interesting because you learn more about the characters and fun because you had a unique skill bar for a change. If you completed the bonus missions you could choose a historically themed weapon as a reward.

I think it would be relatively easy to put this kind of bonus content in GW2 using the same method as the original – have an NPC or item that you can interact with that can take you into the story instance.

Some of the NPCs in the game are so likeable that it seems a shame not to use them more. It’s not just the living story characters either. I mean, who wouldn’t want to have a whole mission dedicated to someone as awesome as Tybalt Leftpaw?

I think a lot of mains are failing too. I’m on AG which is a pretty active server, but I’ve not seen max players at any of the knights when I’ve been in the event. I can’t imagine doing this event on a less active server.

The event has been changed now from what I saw on the breach maker – the fight up there is delayed so you have a couple of mins from the death of the last knight till the hologram event starts. There is even a cutscene at the start (which I guess no one saw before the patch). Should be ample time for you to load in. We even had food trays set out :-)

I finally got into the Scarlet instance this evening – almost impossible now! – and wondered where the mob in the doorway had gotten to. I’m sort of sorry that I missed them getting blasted. Hmmm…maybe I should have gone for the devil horns instead of the halo.

Should have been a triumph with thus release. Instead it is their worst ever… and then they made it worse with a patch.

There are no words for my disappointment with this garbage, nor for my despair going forward. I pray things change, a lot.

I always get onto overflows and most people race to red because it’s close to the waypoint. Once 50 is maxed there you get a few people on the blue and even fewer on the green. It means that there is little chance of the event succeeding overall so some people just seem to leave.

I’ve tried the event four times already and haven’t seen it succeed once yet. The best we’ve done is 2/3. Players are lucky if they get a knight down because at least they get the reward whether the whole event is a success or not.

<sigh> I’m just sad that I’ve still not got any loot. I guess I should camp out at red or something…

It’s very annoying. I’ve given up on that achievement because I just can’t stand watching such a long scene anymore.

You can save yourself about 5 seconds by skipping the tiny cutscene when you exit the lift though. I’m not sure who worked out the logic on that one :/

I think it’s nice to log in and have some new content every two weeks. I don’t always like the content, but that’s just personal taste. It’s something new to try out and some of the LS updates were quite creative – I loved the Zephyr Sanctum and SAB (even though I’m really terrible at it).

Having more updates with new game mechanics and maps is a good way to keep people interested. Unfortunately a lot of the more recent updates seem to be quite similar – zerg, loot, zerg, loot. I like loot as much as the next person, but I’d like a little more variety.

Also, I’m a little annoyed with the inconsistency of content staying in the world. I never see anyone doing the toxic spore events and yet they are still all over Tyria. I assume that this is to allow people to harvest toxic spores. However, the Labyrinthine Cliffs disappeared when the Zephyr Sanctum departed taking away the only source of quartz available to new players. Even without the airship part of the map it was a beautiful place to hang out and practice sanctum sprint skills.

I’ve never seen the event succeed when players split to take down multiple knights at the same time. I don’t know if it’s just because I’m usually on overflows so coordination and communication is not always good. Also, it seems to take ages to defeat some of the knights because half of the players end up spamming conditions and dying.

I’m looking forward to the update. It’s a bit disappointing to finally kill the knights and get no loot, even with gold participation.

Just an idea for people planning to AFK their way to the ‘in tune’ achievement – after you’ve done enough attuned damage to get credit you can still help out by reviving the downed players. I’d say it’s just common courtesy.

I’m sure there are profession related skills that could be useful too and won’t damage any of the holograms.

I’m trying to get the achievement for killing Scarlet before her shield is up and ‘Arrrrrrrgh! Include an option to skip the cutscene before the battle, please! It’s bad enough that I’ve got terrible timing, but do I really have to listen to another hiccup?

It’s strange because I can skip the 10 second long cut scene of the lift going up, why not the minute long dialog?

I love the fact that Kasmeer and Marjory seem to be totally immune to the Prime Hologram’s lasers and will happily spend the entire fight reviving players. It’s especially useful when the laser is pointed at the entrance so that most of the players insta-die as they enter the instance.

I’ve seen Heal-o-tron and Kiel in the instance too, but I’m not sure what they were doing. Does anyone know what heal-o-tron built out of the parts he bought from Evon? Is it the reason that the NPCs are laser-proof?

I’m not sure what the trigger is, but my asura guardian shouts it sometimes when she goes into combat. She screamed it at a group of aetherblades in LA yesterday. Makes me smile every time.

I like the idea of running around as an angelic quaggan. I tried the selfless potion out on my asura though and it looked tiny! If it scaled down to quaggan size, I would probably look less like I had a halo and more like I was balancing a transparent donut on my head.

My favourite line she shouts is “You’re dumb. You’ll die and leave a dumb corpse". I wish I heard it more often.

I’m on Aurora Glade (EU) and we’ve made it to 1200 several times.

Also, I’ve not done any research into this but I’ve noticed that the 1200 civilian success rate seems to be higher in the late evening 10 or 11pm GMT. I guess it’s because most people have done their rubble hunting for the day and are more likely to help out with rescues. The worst time is just after midnight when the rubble has reset. That’s based on my own experiences on AG and the overflows. Has anyone else noticed this?

Gendarran Hills is pretty crowded with people just chatting on my server, but I agree that it’s not really a substitute for LA. I got a pass to the ship as loot on the first day, but it doesn’t seem like much of a meeting place either.

I don’t think this assault will last for long. Hopefully Lion’s Arch will be rebuilt soon enough. I’m sure I still have some of the aid packages from last year when it got damaged. Maybe I’ll finally be able to use them again.

I’m a Mesmer and no one was around during the dolyak event so I speed buffed them, sent out diversions and used mass invisibility to get them over to the asura gates but I didn’t get any credit for the event. Is that a bug or do you only get rewarded for killing their attackers?

There is already a set of devil horns that attach to the character’s head in the game. I think the set I have came from Halloween 2012, but I have no idea where I how I got them. Not really a fan of the floating ones…they look a bit like a graphics bug to me. The halo is cute.

I guess because it’s blue, but the armour just reminds me a lot of the Diva from the 5th Element. I think her chest looks fine without nipples or a bra though.

I think releasing a second version without the blue bodysuit would be great. I like the glowing blue aura around the character, but the blue sections just look flat on my computer. I don’t like to have my character’s face completely altered either.

As for the light armour chest piece, I’m a female norn and I chose the plump body….um, not a great choice for this armour set.

I’m female in real life and I have to say that the skimpiness doesn’t bother me that much, but the odd placement of the chest pieces and the lack of nipples just seems strange. I think it would look better without the tiny bra sections as they make it look like my character’s breasts have just popped out the top accidentally.
