Hello all,
Trying out the new Revenant class, and I’m loving it, particularly the DoT build, using a mace/axe.
No real big complaints with the class thus far, and I’m not sure if this is intended or not to work the way it currently does with the second Mace ability, “Searing Fissure”, which I’m sure it’s not intended, and or is just a bug. But it would appear Searing Fissure seems a little broken right now.
Over the fights I’ve been in, I’ve been noticing, the slightest incline, or decline in height while fighting enemies, this skill doesn’t properly work, and apply the burn condition on them. It doesn’t even have to be a very big height difference too, it could be the smallest slant you can find in Guild Wars 2, and this skill will not apply to the enemy, unless you’re right up in their face.
If this is the way it’s intended to work though, which again, I’m sure it’s not, the description should let you know. The way it currently is though, makes it a bit difficult to solo Champs, and other Elites out there, and it’s very do-able with the build I’m using, however, not getting the burn damage DoT to apply, due to a slant, is making the new class increasingly painful to want to continue playing. At this point in time, it might as well instead of being a straight line DoT on the ground, should just be changed into a fire-burst that applies the Fire DoT, at least that way, I know the Fire would be applied.

I’d enjoy the first time around, then slowly come to realize, I could only get “So far” in life, because of a horizontal progression in life. Attempt to commit suicide, only to spawn at a waypoint.
In short, it would be a living hell.
Of course, no disrespect to the game or anything, just calling it as I see it.

I love any skill that increases my run speed.
And Hundred Blades is really nice.
Right there with you. The Warhorn for the Warrior, Retreat with the Guardian. Anything that makes it feel like I’m not running so kitten ed slow.
Now only if there were a skill to remove “Combat Speed”….

I would highly doubt it. It’s been 3 years now, and we’re just “now” seeing an expansion on the PC.
It might be my own theory here, but, I’d say ArenaNet is in no position financial wise to start producing Guild Wars 2 on consoles.
That, or ArenaNet has given up on Guild Wars 2, and have already begun work on another project (game).
However, I get the feeling their “Gem Shop”, isn’t doing as well as they had planned, and they probably had wished they went with a subscription model.
Again this is just my speculation. Guild Wars 1 had expansion, after expansion, after expansion. So, it raises the question; why are we not seeing as many for Guild Wars 2? Surely, they don’t think what content they have now is “enough”.

Towelie popular? Not in my opinion, he’s no Lirik, that’s for sure.
I think part of what brought me to GW 2 is the whole no “Trinity” system that GW 2 has going for it, however, during the Beta phases, and I can’t quite remember or not if they had dungeons available or not, either or, I didn’t really do any of the dungeons during the Beta (if you could), so I really couldn’t say how much I actually didn’t enjoy not having a set healer.
Upon launch, I wasn’t in too much of a race like quite a few people to get to max level either, I wanted to enjoy the game, along with my friends. So we did… Until we arrived at the first dungeon, and I remember after that day, most of my friends had abruptly halted, and or quit playing Guild Wars 2. Why? Because there was no “Holy Trinity” in place.
The first time I experience a dungeon (in my opinion), I’d love to see that it’s challenging, but, the first time I experienced a dungeon in Guild Wars 2, I wouldn’t even call it challenging, I’d call it silly, and not a whole lot of fun. I’m not too sure how much the dungeons have actually changed now a days being away from Guild Wars 2 for a LONG period of time, but before, it was just getting mercilessly stomped, and wiped, over, and over, until one of us could last long enough to have the party revive and make it back to the boss room before the last player was downed/killed. This is alone what drove away many players from the game, including my friends.
I myself still have yet to do a single dungeon past Ascalon Catacombs, and the end-story dungeon (which was mandatory). But by then, I had found a neat little item which could be spammed, and scaled the amount of healing it did. The “Seed Turret”, which to this date, I still used, but very disappointed that the Cooldown time on it is 30 mins. They could have been a bit more lenient with it’s Cooldown, and maybe dropped it to 10 mins. Still a useful item, but very limited as to when it should be used now.
Long story short, I can’t say I’m all up for the “No Holy Trinity” system, since it drove out the people I enjoy playing games with. But if you’re willing to go as far as ask would it make Guild Wars 2 more popular? I would have to say not so much. Guild Wars 1 and 2 for me at least, was mostly about the story, and I really wish there was more content to do with the personal story.

Another problem I have with GW 2 as of now, is it’s been out what… 4 years? (Correct me if I’m wrong, could be 3 years…), and all they have to show for it is ONE “Expansion”, that in the long run of things, is probably going to be 4-5 hours at the very least, and the content will have been cleared. Oh and they added 1 new class… 1…. Gee… could have I don’t know added more classes from GW 1 along with the 1 new class that EVERYONE is going to be running around with upon launch-week into it. Maybe not even a week, due to these stupid instant leveling scrolls. I wonder who was the “Genius” who came up with that BS.
Anet Dev 1: “We notice people aren’t going back to the beginning zones… How can we make this work out, so players don’t leave the game due to inactivity in the beginning zones?”
Anet Dev 2: “I know! How about we make dailies limited per day!”
Anet Dev 1: “That’s an awesome idea! Now people have to go back! Let’s also add in Mega-Servers so area’s feel more popular, and while we’re at it, if an area isn’t populated enough, let’s bring up a notification, that allows players to tranfer to a more populated server/channel, and give them a 10 MINUTE BUFF!”
Anet Dev 2: “You sir….. Are a Genius! But I have a better idea for people who don’t like this idea…. Let’s give them a 20 level experience scroll! That way they don’t have to so much as LOOK at a lowbie zone!”
Anet Dev 1: “Oh my god! We are so smart! Screw what the players want, customers are usually NEVER right! We need to make some moneh!”
And that’s how I pictured that conversation went.
And this is pretty much what Anet did in my mind. Of course with your own creative subtitles. (good vid nonetheless)
And no disrespect meant really, even though it comes off as it, I just really, really enjoyed GW 2 how it was in the “Early Days”. Still “attempting” to get to lvl 80 again. It’s definitely far from the most terrible game out there, and I do look forward to the expansion… But… “C’mon…”.
Only Better…
You know, I have to agree with the OP. This game has taken a change for the worst, and you can’t really fully “experience” the game until level 80 now.
I am fortunate though, I was one of the many players who pre ordered, and played during the Beta, and for around a year after wards. I just recently come back, and I figured, “Man, I don’t remember this game at all, I’d love to start off on a clean slate!”.
Naturally, I deleted the only lvl 80 I had (warrior), and deleted the rest of my many level 60+ chars, to start brand new. Stupid move? Yes, yes it was. Upon creating brand new, I soon realized what a horrible mistake I had made. Just as the OP stated, all those changed pretty much killed any sense of enjoyment for GW 2 I once had. Granted, I can see why ArenaNet chose to make these changes, because I’d imagine for quite a few people, gaining all the weapon skills at lvl 1, could become overly boring incredibly fast, considering there’s not much else other than spamming 5 skills, and occasionally using your utility skills. Even then, quite a few of the classes I’ve used; Warrior, Guardian, Ranger, just to name a few, I’ve only ever had on signets, and that was mainly for the passives, so I was rarely ever using my utility slots (could be a mistake now a days, back then, not so much, in my opinion). So, some of the changed could be seen as “justified”, but when I came back to a game I wanted to hop back into, and enjoy a game, man, did I ever feel “Cheated”. especially since you were able to get what was it… 30 trait points before, and now you’re only able to gain 25? (To my knowledge). Again, deleting my “Main” was a huge mistake, because now I got screwed outta 5 extra points.
Some other changes I’ve noticed were diff “Heat” placements on the maps, which makes little to no sense, because most of the places you head to with hearts, “Had” points of interest locations, thus, you weren’t running around for aimless reasons. A perfect example of this, is the “Rabbit” food gathering Heart in the Nord’s beginning area, used to be up on a mountainous area, across a bridge, and now as soon you head into the Nord Area, there it is, right in front of your face. Also some of the more entertaining Hearts have taken a change for the worst too. Such as in Queensdale helping the farmers, I remember feeding cows, watering the plants, etc. Now…. Now I’m dancing in front of a cow like an idiot! There’s no interaction anymore in some cases, it’s bland, dull, and boring. Again, I can see that these things took “Time” but my god, the extra time almost felt worth it.
GW 2 has/had so much of the fun sucked dry from it, I don’t even know why I bother sticking around really. I do in all honesty want to give these new changes a chance, because past lvl 31, seems “Alright”, and almost like how it used to be before, but not so much… And like the OP said, deciding to make PvP 22+ is ridiculous. I thought GW 2 was supposed to be all about freedom, and doing things that you “wanted” to do. Now in order to do certain things, I “have” to do things, even if I don’t want to. Of course, that i speaking for these so called “NPE’s”, I myself could hop into PvP, find points of interest, and get skills at level 1, but recently tried getting a couple buddies back into it, who HAVE accounts dating back to Beta/Launch, and for some reason they got screwed over, and were considered new, couldn’t find points, or get skills.

Oh wow, that’s a bummer. Good for me, but kittenty for him lol.
Thanks for the information though, I appreciate it.

Hello all,
So, about a week ago, I though I’d hope back into GW 2 (since I own the game and can come and go as I please), just to check out how it’s changing, and at least in my opinion, it took a turn for the worst, but this isn’t what the post is about, so anyways…
I recently convinced a friend to hop back into Guild Wars 2, after he had been away for a an even longer time than I had been away, in fact, he only stayed for like 2 months after launch, and then quit (or maybe even a month).
Anyways, yesterday, he was getting upset at the game, wondering why he wasn’t able to collect skillpoints, and or even find points of interest on the map. Naturally, I haven’t had this problem once, and I figured it might be a bug, or something, but, later that night, he must have done some research or something, because he had then went on telling me he wasn’t able to find anything until lvl 9, nor collect skillpoints, and or commune with them.
After thinking this over a bit, it doesn’t quite make sense now, I haven’t had this problem once, not even when I create a brand new character, and start at level 1, I’m still able to find points of interest, and commune with skillpoints. I don’t know if beating the main story has anything to do with this though, as, I have beat the story and such a long time ago, where he has yet to do so.
So I guess with all that said; why can’t my friend collect skillpoints, and why are the points of interest not showing up on his map? Is it true they require certain levels now?
Note: I browsed some older forums and only found people who weren’t able to commune at skillpoints, but again, it doesn’t make sense to me, since I have no issues regardless of my level.

Now, let’s get onto the points where it becomes harder, and harder to come back to GW 2. While yes, I paid for the game, and I am free to come back whenever which is a bonus ot GW 2, I’m finding it way too difficult to come back. Why? Well, firstly, I’ve pretty much seen everything GW 2 has to offer us, it’s been what…. 2-3 years now since launch? (correct me if i’m wrong), and there have been mo major updates, no new personal stories, no new weapons, no new…. Well pretty much anything. The only thing that seems to change, is ArenaNet’s greed. The more they add to the cash shop, the more greed they take in. What do I mean by this? Well, when they first decided to implement “Black Lion Chests”, my heart tore, and cracked a little. I was disappointed that company that produced a game such as Guild Wars 1, would stoop so low as to implement a means to collect/obtain rare gear through a “Cash Shop”, I really didn’t mind it at first, but as time passed, I grew irritated, and found myself to leave the game, after having everything done, and realizing GW 2 was all about greed.
Some months, maybe even a year later I came back to check out what had changed. To my surprise, not a whole heck of a lot. The only thing I had come back to was a watered down “Trait” system where we were restricted, and limited to the amount of traits we could spend, and use to further customize our character, and our builds. Eventually realizing there was nothing to do but fractuals, I soon afterwards left again due to boredom.
I now I came back a couple more times to check out GW 2 further more, but nothing comes to mind. So NOW I come back to Guild Wars 2, and figure what the hell, why not create a new character, and see how it goes. Almost immediately, my heart broke, shattered, and I lost all hope and faith in ArenaNet. What do I come back to you ask? I come back to the very opposite of what ArenaNet had intended to begin with. A generic Mmorpg where I have to level up to obtain new skills, Traits, and pretty much anything, and everything in the game. Correct me if I’m wrong, but was it not ArenaNet’s idea that the more you used a weapon, the more skills you’d unlock, and the better you’d become with it? Now Guild Wars 2 seems like one of those washed up hasbeeen actors who can’t cut it anymore. We’re back to the very basics of Mmorpg’s. Grind for absolutely everything! Skills, Traits, even off-hand weapons for crying out loud. This is the absolute opposite directions ArenaNet is taking, from when they first announced Guild Wars 2. Why…? My firs thoughts is, that they’re too gokitten ed lazy to make what… 1 in a million differ types of weapons and skills, and or maybe add expansions to Guild Wars 2. I remember Guild Wars 1, and how many expansions they had. Sure, one could argue they had a steady income of cash, but surely, they must have more than enough people spending money on costumes, and other stuff in their god-forbidden cash shop, in order to throw out at least one gokitten expansion right? I Mean Final Fantasy 14 has nearly been out ALMOST a year, and is seeing a full blown expansion. Guild Wars 2 has been out what? 2? 3 Years? what good has come from it? Nothing. reduced monsters in the level 80 zone, that’s all I can think of…
Sigh… what happened ArenaNet…? Do you intend on keeping Guild Wars 2 “Just as it is”? This game everytime I come back and want to enjoy it, is just becoming more, and more of a “Chore” as much as I hate to say it. The launch to 5-6 ,months prior had me all about the game, now it’s just… Well, I don’t want to say it, but the game is feeling more, and more like just another generic Garbage Free-To-Play game…
P.S- Don’t get me wrong, I love Guild Wars 2, this is just my own personal out-take/feedback, on how difficult it’s becoming to “Come Back” to Guild Wars 2, after periodic breaks.

Hello all,
So, after a while, I’m sure it’s been longer than 7 months maybe… I’ve yet found myself coming back to Guild Wars 2, and just like in the past, I’m finding it harder, and harder to keep any attention whatsoever, focused into coming back into this game with ArenaNet’s hopes of me spending any money on their game. Let me explain why.
So, firs of all, I’m someone who’s participated in the Beta, Closed beta, etc, etc. And have played this game on and off, since launch. The only reason really that I quit in the first place, was due to a lack of “content”. This was in the beginning of course, when all there really was to due was finish the Personal Story/Main Story, even before the new dungeon runs, I can’t remember what they’re called either, they were pretty dumb to begin with, oh wait… Fractures, still a dumb idea to begin with.
First of all, myself, and my friends though this game from the start was going to be revolutionary, due to ArenaNet explaining there is no “Holy Trinity” system, and soon after, we found ourselves less tempted to run "Dungeons/Instances more and more, basically due to the fact there was no holy trinity. The way ArenaNet had explained it in the beginning to our understanding was that no one class relied on any type of healer, and could be self sufficient. This however was not the case, in every dungeon attempt from the start of the game consisted of 10+ deaths, for pretty much any team/premade team, until you’ve figured out how the dungeon works. This was incredibly irritating, and eventually made more than a few of my friends leave, only leaving me with one to proceed through the game, and so we did, through every dungeon/story missions. Eventually that came to an end when we found out the weapons/armor, even fractual stuff did next to nothing, and was simply only for “Reskinning purposes”. By this I mean of course, there is no more progression after level 80, you’re the same, but only look different. The difference between gear had halted. And of course this was planned from the very beginning of GW 2, however, I suppose we had pictured this differently in our minds.

Ok, thanks guys. Appreciate it

Hello all,
So, I’ve pretty well got bored with every other Mmorpg out there, new, and old. So, decided I would just hop back on GW 2 considering I’ve already bought the game when it first launched, and such.
So, one of the things that really killed GW 2 for me before, was NCsoft’s idea to limit accounts to Credit Cards, I come back, and to my surprise, I’m able to use the different emails associated with my Credit Card to “finally” purchase stuff from the Gem Shop, which I had intended to do so from the very beginning, but couldn’t. Good thing to come back to.
Now, all that pointless blabber aside. I just purchased the Ninja suit from the Gem Shop, also another little surprise was figuring out soon after, all of my characters could use it. Now my question is, why can’t I hide the mask on this suit? Not that it’s terrible or anything, but I find it a bit odd, how I created a new character, and in the cutscene’s, the mask is hidden, or just not on period. Why is there no option to hide this on the actual suit? I get that helmets and such aren’t shown in cutscenes, but usually (to my knowledge) you’re able to hide your helmet period, why can I not do the same now? I don’t much care for the mask rather than my characters actual facial appearance, and looks. I’d like the option to “hide” the mask.

Hello all,
So, I’ve done some searching through the forums, and I figured since it’s been a while, I’d like to start from scratch with GW 2. Now, I plan on keeping my 80’s, but I’d like to delete one of my 60’s, and reuse her name. I’m not too sure if I can or not, the closest thing I’ve found to some information didn’t really explain to much, and the post was made 6 months ago.
So, the question is, am I able to delete my character, and reuse her name? I’d definitely like to keep her name if possible. Thanks in advance.

To each man his own I’ll say.
It all depends on the player, Guild Wars 2 was fun while I had played it, just came back to see how “Alive” it actually was, and it still seems pretty much dead.
In “My Opinion”, Guild Wars 2 had an incredibly unique system going for it. But, coming from the old Guild Wars, too much had changed, some for the better, and some for the worst. The Trinity Removal for me, “Seemed” like a wicked idea at first, but then after countless of deaths, wipes, etc, etc. The whole idea of not having a “Main” healer, nor tank, seemed to be more or less frustrating than an interesting idea. Of course that’s my opinion.
I’m now drawing my attention towards FF 14, and in no way am I promoting it, as I’m pretty much already bored of that game as well having done everything you can until further expansions. But the trinity system felt so “Good” after playing Guild Wars 2. Everything seemed more controlled no unwanted deaths, or wipes, and it kind of gave “meaning” as to what it was like to be a “Tank” or “Healer” again.
Eliminating the Trinity is an awesome idea, and no others have done it before (not to my knowledge), but it seems like it doesn’t really promote the whole idea of “Teamwork”, and “Cooperation”, where as it more or less became about “keeping yourself” alive.
Again my opinion. Don’t take anything from me too seriously though, I’m still debating whether or not I should get back into GW 2, but recalling the last time I tried, and seeing dead area’s everywhere, where as FF 14 is literally full in most area’s, doesn’t sound too tempting. To each man his own though.

Went back to WoW when expansion was released…to a dead world. Apparently, my server totally died and I was only one in Org.
It would have cost me around 250 bucks to move my chars to a server that was not dead. Suffice to say, I uninstalled WoW about 4 days later. Bored and lonely ftl.
You can hate on GW2 all you want but I think each has it’s pluses and minuses. Now all you wow fan boys out there, that’s cool. I played for 7 years straight! But no more, it’s to old for me.
There’s nothing wrong with Guild Wars 2, it’s either for some people, or not for them, it’s not up to you to decide that. You’re right though, it does have it’s pro’s, and con’s. No game can be perfect, games are weird like that… They can’t “grab” everyone, on second thought… It’s mankind itself that’s weird… Everyone liking, and disliking different things… Such is the way of mankind, no one particular human being is exactly the same.
After the first expansion of WoW came out, I just flat up quit, when I realized it was nothing more then a couple of races that could become the opposing factions classes (Blood Elf, and Dragon thingy). Totally in my mind made me lose interest. I won’t go on explaining how WoW killed itself for me, because it’s not a WoW forum. Needless to say, a year or so, was all I could give it.
Guild Wars 2 is awesome, I totally respect everything they do, however, they’re simply no matter how you look at it, “Spinning their wheels”. Nothing new happens, Guild Wars 2 remains endlessly boring to those who expect something different from a game, but instead, get to the point where they finally think they’ll experience something entertaining (max level), and find out, nothing has changed, nor nothing will change.
Everyone is different from one another, but you can’t deny the fact that the “Virtual” world is simply an escape for everyone. What happens when your “Escape” suddenly becomes the same routine as your everyday life? Well, boredom is what happens.
As I stated, Guild Wars 2 is awesome, they’ve done something new and innovative, props to them. However without so called “Vertical Progression”, the game, nor ArenaNet are doing themselves any justice. Eventually everyone will leave Guild Wars 2, it’s simply a matter of how long the player is willing to wait for something to change.
Anyways, it’s just my thoughts. Maybe wiping my Lvl 80’s, and making anew would change that opinion. I wonder….

I miss the skills that you actually went out, and killed an NPC to obtain a skill. God I remember so well helping my brother out with his Dervish class hunting down the NPC’s that gave skills.
Pretty much that entire skill system I miss entirely. Wish GW 2 would’ve done something like that =/.

That’s a pretty enjoyable video, yet, incredibly sad at the same time… Not just for WoW, but for GW 2 as well.
The same could really be done using GW 2 as a video, and it would look just as sad, probably less entertaining too.

Huh… 26 views, and only one who could reply so boldly. That doesn’t say much for the forum community, does it?
You’re response is far more then what I had actually expected Deified, and probably about ten times more useful then what anyone else could have posted.
I have an upgraded Guild and such I created myself, and after about a month pretty much raised the points solo, due to members leaving left, right, and center due to boredom. At the time I couldn’t possibly see what was so boring. Alas, even with a guild, friends, etc. The game still did not do “justice” in the sense you are speaking of. Though as you say, with the right people, the right guild, the right “community”, I’m sure Guild Wars 2 is more then what people have actually put into it.
I myself have left before doing a single “Living Story”, so, you might be right in that sense that’s once a day if I did login for just those few hours and did the living story, it might make the world of a difference.
I’m glad there are people such as yourself who are actually around to share responses, and thoughts. It might actually make the world of a difference one day.
I’ll probably do just as you said. Though, the whole “missing” a living story forever and a “one” time chance doesn’t really appeal to me too much, I suppose I can simply think of it as just another “quest”.
As for friends, and a guild… Probably not going to happen due to my bitter-sweet shyness.
Anyways Deified, thanks for a good response. I suppose I’ll end up updating Guild Wars 2, and give it another go.
Have a nice night/day, depending on where you live of course.

Hello all,
So, I’ve been away from Guild Wars 2 pretty much after the X-mas event had ended. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy Guild Wars 2 or anything, but at the very least, I could only find myself signing on for less then ten minutes. Honestly, the game just felt (back then) boring. It was really difficult to find any interest in the game whatsoever.
I’m not someone who enjoys farming for hours on end trying to get this ridiculously cool weapon skins, as it just doesn’t appeal to me on how you actually went about getting the items whether it was through dungeons, farming hours on end etc. Legendary’s just had no value considering they didn’t do anything in comparison to my weapon. Another thing that kind of drove me away from Guild Wars 2 was the constant lack of just anything useful or unique in the cash shop. Sure, costumes are cool and all, but let’s be serious here… Who runs around in a costume that’s not meant for fighting? In the entire time I’ve spent in Guild Wars 2, Beta-Release-Decemberish, the ONLY time I’ve ever seen anyone run around in costumes were during the Halloween event. The Brawls were a bash too, and it’s nice to see they added that in along the road, but even then, the point of actually swapping to your costume feels… Not so much needed.
I’ve skimmed some of the recent forums, and I’m still seeing forums talking about how Guild Wars 2 is dying. As much as I didn’t want to admit it back then it kind of seemed true deep down inside. And when I had stopped playing Guild Wars 2, I must have finally realized this at some point. Not saying it’s dead myself been a while, but if there’s absolutely no incentive on going back into previous area’s, people who are saying the game is dead, are absolutely going to, and have every right to “Feel” the game is dead.
I’ve got a couple of level 80’s and thought about starting anew, even have Guild Wars 2 installed still, just needs to update. But my question is; if I quit due to whatever reason it was, or is. Would you think from what I’ve just stated that it’d be worthwhile coming back? The gameplay, visuals, and pretty much everything is well done. But, it just doesn’t really feel like I could find it in myself to “Get Back” into it.
Honestly, it feels like Guild Wars 2 is just “Spinning their wheels”. I remember back in Guild Wars 1 when it felt as if every update it felt like they were bringing something “new” to their game. And I gave Guild Wars 2 a good go. But are they still “Spinning their wheels”?
Anyways, I’m sure due to the nature of the topic and thread, it’ll most likely be deleted somewhere along the line. I just wanted some honest input from other people who are maybe still playing or some thoughts.

I have to disagree. I love the fact that Dyes aren’t account wide. This actually gives me something to do on my alternate chars other then simply craft my way up to 80, because I’m too kitten lazy to you know, play the game.
I do agree however that Dyes should have a way higher drop rate if they aren’t going to be account bound (hopefully never will be). The market prices are a bit stupid due to how rare they drop. I’m someone who pretty much kills everything I see in Guild Wars 2, and “Maybe” walk out after 2-3 hours of playing with one unidentified dye.
I also agree that ArenaNet has to pull their act together. Guild Wars 2 is becoming (my opinion) nothing more then a mess. Broken Events, Broken Mechanics, etc. etc.
Of course, what’s a company without money? Probably screwed themselves over letting Nexon in. (I don’t know too much about Nexon personally, just hear rumors, and or speculation)

Hello All,
I’m not sure if this is condiered a bug or not, or just something went haywire during your updates or whatnot. But this is getting ridiculous now, and has happened way more then it should have. I’m talking of course about the Bandithaunt Caverns in Queensdale. Every so often we get some “new” updates, and this place becomes unbearable to enter, even if you’re trying to do the “Heart” there to kill the Bandits, and I know I’m certainly not the only one who experiences this. What am I talking about? The terrible framerate drop, where my game suddenly goes from 100+ fps, and drops literally below 30.
This seems to be reoccurring with you ArenaNet. One day it’s fine, nothing drops, and suddenly an update hits, and BAM, the framerate’s in the most random places which used to be fine before makes the area’s almost unplayable.
As I said, this isn’t just happening to me as I play with friends all the time while on GW 2, and they have the exact same problem.
Not sure if this is a bug or not, but it’s probably worth checking out.

I personally wouldn’t say any race specializes in any of the available classes out there. However, races have “Racial” skills. For example, Sylvari have skills that can root, they can summon mortar seeds, and so on. I guess if you’d really want a class that could “Kite” from a perspective, you could say using the Sylvari Race excels at being a ranger, but the truth of it is, the root, turrets, etc. Aren’t all too useful, as the root can be broken easily, and the turrets do minimal damage.
You could also say that a Charr could specialize in a Warrior due to some of their racial skills as well.
I personally view all races being the same, and just have different abilities that “could” give an advantage in combat, if they were used properly, however, this applies with almost any class/race you choose. If you use the skills at the right time, it won’t really matter what class you are. An example could be a Sylvari Warrior, though the root, and turrets seem almost useless, you could use root as more of an “Escape Tactic”, rather then using it offensively.
It all comes down to how you choose to play, and use your utility skills.

I remember back in my day WAY back on the Atari, and NES, when there was no such things as these “Achievement Points”…
Let’s face facts here, achievements, trophies, etc. Anything to do with a game awarding these is pretty much pointless. So someone spent all his time basically “cheating” his way to the top? Big deal, did he win some sort of trophy, or receive a prize of 1 million dollars? Nope, he’s simply someone who just plain and simple cheated the achievement system. There’s nothing special about that person, nor anyone else who feels these actually mean anything. Achievements, and trophies are simply meant to be in place, to give people who spend way too much time on their hands, play video games all day long, some sort of false sense of achievement. However, at the end of the day, you’re still the same person who spends way too much time on video games, and actually accomplished nothing worth while mentioning. A fake reality, with fake accomplishment.
It’s a game. End of story. You’re not doing anything anyone should actually care about, and if getting in game achievements makes you feel self accomplished, something is terribly wrong there.

I have the best strategy of all time. And it’s one step…
Step 1….
Wait until ArenaNet changes the achievement to saving one Dolyak, which they’ve stated they’re going to do.
Other then that, this wasn’t a difficult event at all. I literally had 5 people doing this, and we managed to save 2 at the end. Spam ballista, and you’re fine. Unless you don’t lure Toxx away from then, in which case, goodbye ballista.

Hello all,
While I’m playing Guild Wars 2 now, an idea sparked into my head as me and my girlfriend took over the Ogre camp in the Charr’s homeland. The idea I have running about in my mind, I’m not sure if it’s new or not, maybe someone else has suggested the idea, but this idea could very well bring back the populace to every single map in the entire game. Or at least make them more desirable to go back to.
Alrighty to the idea now. Basically what’s running around in my head are “Guild Outposts”. Now basically how this works, is camps as I had just pointed out earlier, that Guilds attempt, or finish, simply capture the camp, and it essentially turns into a “Guild Outpost”, now by any means this does not mean the events, or dynamic events actually change. This will all be normal, npc’s and or monsters will once again “Raid” the camp to try and reclaim it. All that will change i simply having your guild banner/flag strung up at the entrances of camps, and maybe add in some “Guild Bank” npc’s, and other Guild npc’s.
Now, with this idea in mind, and the fact that there wouldn’t be any significant change in how the dynamic events still proceed. While the camp, or “Outpost” is under a guilds influence, or command, you could add slight bonuses to that particular guild who claims, or captures the outpost. Bonuses could include Karma Booster, Gold Booster, Experience Boost, etc. basically the same things you pick up from Guild Banners.
Now, of course this was just something that had popped into my head, and everything is not all thought out, such as how do you go about deciding which guild captures what, and how everything just plays out, but it certainly is a start as to how we could see just every map in general become more populated, and give reasons for other players to revisit the maps. This would also exclude the idea of people joining others guild, and simply leaving the Guild after, because the players wouldn’t receive any bonuses as they’re not part of the Guild, who captured this.
I suppose to decide on who “Captures” the outpost would be decided upon how many members of the most populated guild was actually there and participated, or it could go to the guild with the most “Gold Medals” showing that they actually had to participate in order to capture the outpost under their “Guild Name”. Another idea could be that sure, one Guild may capture the outpost, but other guilds that participated receive the same bonuses, or a timed bonus for participating at the very least. Also, the more camps/Outposts a guild claims, the more stacks of Bonuses they would receive. But since not everyone can be everywhere at once, the camps are sure to fall, and arise under a new Guild Name anyways. So really, it’s not like one Guild could essentially control everything.
As I said before, it’s not well thought out yet, it’s just an idea that sparked into my mind while duoing this camp with my Girlfriend, killing champs duo and such. It’s a start anyways to bring more people back to the maps again.
Anyways… just suggestion that I personally would love to see, seeing how the maps I’m doing right now are pretty scarce in population. (Yay world completion… Again…)
I just posted this in the Suggestion thread, but since this is general discussion, I am curious to see what people’s opinions, are on this idea. As I’m sure this will probably get buried, or not even looked at in the “Suggestion” forums.

Short, and simple answer to your title without even reading.
There’s nothing else to play at the moment. That’s what keeps me going, and the attitude isn’t going to change, unless ArenaNet thinks up of some kind of a miracle, that keeps players with short attention spans around. After the third level 80, the skill animations, and flashiness just doesn’t cut it anymore.

Hello all,
Obviously this topic has been discussed somewhere along the line before, I’m just curious as if maybe a member from ArenaNet could shed some light on this.
Honestly, as of right now, there’s literally no point in me using the Gem Shop, I can’t think of any good reason to use this. The costumes are pretty cool, some of them are funny looking, but really, what’s the point of using them, if you buy the costumes in the first place to “Show Off” essentially?
So, my question is; are there any future plans for more cosmetic armor pieces? There’s only three right now, the Guild Wars 1 armor sets, and I seldom see people walking around with the sets. Used to see it more often at the beginning of the launch, and a month into Guild Wars 2, but alas, I’m sure those people have left, or simply just got bored of looking at the same sets of three different types of cosmetic armor types, especially since the one’s you want, are “Class Restricted”.
Anyways, would be nice if someone from the “Team” could actually answer this. I was hoping to throw money at this game blindly, there’s just nothing too appealing to me, other then what I’ve already got, the increased bank/Inventory.

Hello all,
I’m sure somewhere along the line, this forum was made, then buried, like most of the threads out there. So, I’d like to start a topic, and or discussion that doesn’t do the typical “Arena Net Bashing”, that I’ve seen around the forum, but rather, maybe try and help ArenaNet Understand what content about their game is actually seen as decent.
So, I’m personally curious myself to see what kind of opinions, and idea’s people have running about in their minds about updates/new content that they actually seen as a “Good” idea, opposed to all those “Bad” idea’s. I don’t really want to see any flaming, or trolling really, but if you really feel the need to do something less constructive with your time, by all means, knock yourself out.
For for me personally. I’ve only seen a couple of updates, and or new content that actually appealed to me or pleased me. If I look through all the content, patches, updates, there’s only two of them that I’ve actually seen needed in Guild Wars 2 which are as follows:
1)
Warriors using spears underwater, and not being able to do “Sweep”, or “Radius” damage. When they updated this, to me, this actually felt like a valuable update, and something that was needed, as every other class underwater could already hit multiple targets, so this update honestly made all sense. I am glad to see it was implemented long after I was into my Warrior and getting used to only hitting one target underwater.
Darn, I honestly had two idea’s in my head that I found were actual good updates, but I’ve simply lost the idea now.
Honestly though, If just one player can only find two updates that were good through all the updates that have been seen, I believe it says something at the very least.
Again, I am curious as to see others responses, and what updates the community has seen as “Good”, or “Needed” updates. This can be of course from the beginning of Guild Wars 2. There must be more then just what I’ve stated… Right?
On a side note, if this doesn’t get locked, or by “Chance” becomes a bigger topic, it’s probably something that should be stickied, or really taken into consideration by the ArenaNet team, as I would hope it to show what the team has done to make their game more enjoyable.
Again, this is NOT a topic about what you dislike about Guild Wars 2, simply what updates you’ve seen value in.

I fail to understand why melee warrior type classes are always so popular in MMO’s. MMO’s are mostly fantasy-themed games. I don’t know about you guys, but when I think “fantasy”, I think magic. Hell, the fantasy genre definition is as follows: “Fantasy is a genre that uses magic and other supernatural phenomena as a primary element of plot, theme, and/or setting.” Notice “magic” and “supernatural” in there?
So, why do people go for the least magical class in a fantasy MMO? I don’t get it. Aren’t games a means of escapism and entertainment? What’s entertaining about hitting things with a sword or stabbing them with a dagger, when you can easily do that in the real world? You can’t conjure powerful orbs of fire to literally burn your enemies alive, call upon minions of death and drain the life force out of them, or summon clones of yourself to confuse your foes in reality.
Magic makes you feel powerful. Who doesn’t want to feel powerful in a fantasy game? Not to mention magic classes always get the best animations. So tell me, I’m truly curious as to why some people always go for the melee warrior-esque classes in games.
How many Fantasy novels have you read, that only contains magic? I don’t know about you, but quite a few novels I’ve read that are categorized under “Fantasy”, are only categorized so, due to being in a “Fantasy” world with dragons, unicorns, phoenix’s, etc. The list goes on. And get this, the “Main Hero”, always comes wielding a sword, and slays so called “Dragon”. So why is it, that, “Fantasy” should just be categorized as “Wizards”, and sorcery? That doesn’t make much sense, at least coming from someone who’s read his fair share of “Fantasy” novels.
To answer your question though, I’ve always found myself to stray from any ranged classes, Archers, Wizards, Sorcerers, etc. as it feels a little boring. It doesn’t feel like there’s much rush of excitement as when you rush in there swinging like a mad-man. Some players just love the way melee classes feel. I’m not saying I hate ranged classes by any means, I just don’t get the same feeling as being all close-quarters.
That being said, the animations in Guild Wars 2 for spells is pretty well done. But, once you’ve seen it all, you might as well be swinging a sword, at least then, you don’t notice how bored you are with how the spells/animations look.

First time I found Abyss dye was on my first character in Caledon Forest, within the first 5 levels of gameplay. I made the mistake of not making a point to sell it for a considerably high price, as everyone in games always seems to value “True White”, or “True Black” over any other color in the game.
It’s sad to say it, but some of the dyes look spot on with Celestial Dye, like… White dye for example, there’s almost no notable difference, yet people will just buy the Celestial dye, even though there’s next to no diff in colors, and the only diff is in the price.
If I were you, I’d sell it, take the 20g, and simply buy something like Midnight Sky, or some other color that you can barely tell any resemblance from Abyss Dye. Though it’s been a while since I’ve looked at Abyss Black, been playing on my other chars, haven’t even touched my main ever since I beat Zhaitan, I guess nothing after “Beating” the game actually interests me, and usually the first chars are simply a test, and the alts I create will be much better off, but that’s aside the point. Sell it, spend WAY less cash on a similar color, and the problem is sorta/kinda solved, you’ve made a huge profit, and have a color or shade rather, that looks pretty much the same.

… that if Nexon gets a majority of the shares of NCSoft, GW2 will become Pay-to-win?
While yes I haven’t played every game Nexon has PUBLISHED (YES PUBLISHED NOT DEVELOPED!) I have played a couple, those being Mabinogi: A Fantasy Life, and Vindictus, and from what I’ve seen of both of their cash shop NOTHING in either had the use to be major stat increases over other players, they were either for cosmetic changes, either from insanely random dyes or cosmetic armor/weapons, pets/mounts that would either give stat boosts for 1-2 minutes that would decrease the longer the pet/mount has been on the account. Hell the pets even had daily timers for how long you could play as them or have their AI help you when you go soloing.
So I ask again where the kitten is the idea that being owned by Nexon means it becomes pay to win comes from?
You haven’t played Vindictus for a very long time have you? You basically pay to upgrade your weapons to the max they can go without, heck, you can even buy weapons with money you spend in the cash shop. Though Vindictus by all means is mainly just a PvE games, I really wouldn’t consider small arena types a mainstream PvP. They’re fun to kill time though, that’s for sure.
Personally, I’m not sure where people get the idea Nexon means “Pay to Win” either, though, no games are worth even touching of Nexon, the only one worth it WAS Vindictus, which now is just simply boring running from dungeon to dungeon, and even though all games get repetitive, Vindictus did it pretty quick.

Usually Warriors in most games are the easiest to play, thus their more less for “Beginners”, and people who aren’t well experienced in mmorpg’s, or any other game for that matter, just usually play a warrior, where everything seems “Easy”.
Honestly though, I don’t see why people are complaining about classes in PvE though. Essentially everyone is working together for the same cause, whether it be an event or a dungeon, would you go into a dungeon “If” the warriors were debuffed, or downgraded? Probably not, then you’d think “Well this class sucks too much, why’d I even pick a warrior if I can’t get into a dungeon?”, and vice-verse.
Honestly, ArenaNet NEEDS to stop focusing on downgrading, and balancing classes in PvE, really, they’re simply taking the easy way out of the game by not adding separate traits for PvP, and PvE.
Personally, so many of the classes that have gotten changed just are no fun to play PvE now. I remember back in the Beta testing phases, I loved being a Mesmer, there was absolutely nothing wrong with any of the classes PvE wise, until they started making all these changes. I’ll admit. “Some” of the changes were pretty decent. Such as the Warrior using his spear underwter and hitting multiple targets. But when a class like the Mesmer gets screwed over, or the Necro PvE wise, it makes me, and probably some others, why ArenaNet couldn’t have just “Not” taken the easy way out, and set skills/stats/traits separate from PvP, and PvE.
Of course this is simply my opinion, and I know that skills can be changed separately from Pvp-Pve, this is shown in Diablo 3 (Didn’t play that game for long), but in the Arena (PvP), all the stats were changed a bit, and they didn’t provide any useless, or unwanted changes in PvE, they simply thought to themselves, “What are people going to enjoy more, and what will balance out the game?” thus, diff stats/skills were changed specifically for the Arena.
I do agree about some classes being Overpowered in PvP, but honestly why are people complaining about PvP? ArenaNet has obviously shown us they don’t give a kitten about the community, they don’t seem to listen, and blatantly make changes without asking the community first.
Again, this is just my opinion. Don’t complain about PvE, everyone is working together, and if we see changes to PvE, we know we see changes to PvP, thus making even more people then there have been, leave Guild Wars 2.

It is true that this game isn’t far off from other mmorpg’s in the sense you’re doing the same thing in the end anyways, “kill this, kill that, protect this etc.”. If you think about it really, all games come done to the exact same thing, and there’s not one single game out there you can name that doesn’t repeat itself in the end, not a single one. People who come into any game expecting it to be different from any other game out there are just silly, and should stay away from all games period. As I stated, not one single game doesn’t end up repeating itself, whether it be a “First Person Shooter”, “Rpg”, “Mmorpg”, etc. the list goes on.
The way in which you use content can only be new, and stylish for so long. What ArenaNet did with using hearts, Dynamic Events, etc, to portray the way they made use of “Quests”, and doing the same thing over, and over again was interesting, and definitely has not been done before. But, take out the hearts, replace the npc with a quest, replace Dynamic Events with “Repeaters”, and it’s all the same in the end. I bought Guild Wars 2, and came in knowing it was just basically another glorified mmorpg, and rather then look at all these negatives, focused on the clever development, and how they tried to make a “Generic” mmorpg different from others, and I have to say, they’ve done a good job, and it definitely doesn’t feel like just another “Point/Click”, or “Generic” mmorpg. Still, everything breaks down the same in the end though.
As for being level 80? Well, I can’t say too much there I suppose. It’s definitely boring to someone like me having “nothing” to do. Sure, I “could” go do World VS World, or go into PvP, but in the end, it’ll just be like the quests, hearts, events, etc. Just the same repetitiveness over, and over. Not to mention there’s quite a few problems with PvP as of now (none that I’ve run into, Thieves don’t bother me in W v W, that, or I’ve never met a “Good” Thief yet). Long story short, I’ve just been making new characters, and raising them to level 80, it’s something to do, at least until “The Next Big Mmorpg” comes out.

Hello all, Devs,
I’d like to bring this to your attention if it has already not been brought to your attention once before, but the Guardian skills at least for me seem to be bugged. Allow me to explain.
When using the skills, on hotkeys 2 (not so often), and 4 (happens ALL the time), it seems as if the screen zooms in incredibly close for a brief moment, it’s almost barely noticeable, but it’s sitll there, and for quite some time now, it’s been bothering me slightly. I do have a couple of screenshots by mere chance after hours of trying to figure out what the skills were doing, to finally snap some shots of what was exactly going on, which is the camera would automatically zoom in super close almost at your feet, and when I mean a brief second, I mean this literally looks like a flicker, that’s how quick it happens.
Using skill number two, I have only seen this happen in one, or a two spots, the swamps in the human land, and using skill four, no matter what I am this always happens, where I’ll get that zoom in which looks like a flicker for a brief moment. Now, I’d done some experimentation, with my Desktop, which has dual crossfired 7970’s (Gigabyte Brand), and at first, I thought maybe this was an issue strictly due to the type of cards I was using, however, just recently I was out of town for work, and decided to bring my laptop with me which is using Nvidia as the brand of cards. The exact same thing happens with both skills, and I’m still getting that flickering which is a zoomed in image. After testing this on my computer, and my laptop, I’ve decided to ask a buddy who was using Nvidia cards in his desktop to try using Guardian skills as well, he had the exact same issue.
Now, I can’t speak for everyone who’s playing a Guardian out there, as I’m sure it’s probably only happening to a select few, I wouldn’t know the exact number,s but I do not believe this is an issue on my side. I believe this to be more of an issue with the actual game (AKA a bug), and something that should be looked into.
To end off on, I’d like to show some screenshots I’ve managed to take, while the skills were in “Mid-Flicker”, which is actually the zoomed images I keep going on about.
(The first one shows the proper skill animaiton, the second and third will show the camera being zoomed in to a ridiculous point, which then zooms back out after the skill)
Only Better…
Seems like it is a bug, or was. I currently can not zoom out that much anymore.
In an honest opinion, I think it’s garbage I can’t zoom out as far as what boss fights are. Sure, it’s all fine and dandy in PvP, but, I rather like the option outside of PvP to be able to zoom out, and zoom in freely. As the current zoom settings are now, I can’t get the “Right” camera angle I prefer to use, which isn’t zoomed out far at all, but due to the restriction settings, the Camera feels like it has a “Set” zoom distance whenever I’m moving my scroll wheel forward to try and get the “Right” distance for myself.
Not that I’ve ever had a complaint about the camera, I just feel as if it’s restricting myself to what I can actually do.
I do however agree with you in PvP, however, since it’s structured PvP, and not open world PvP, you’re not really supposed to have that “Surprise Attack” on someone else, and it could just be my opinion, but structured PvP, to me anyways, means always knowing what you’re up against, and “kind” of fighting fairly. Which is why I prefer open world PvP, Pking if you will, because you’re constantly watching your back, where as you’re not so much expected to do so in a structural PvP such as duels.
Again, that just my opinion, and I really don’t think I should be restricted to such a weird Camera angle, but I’ve lived with it thus far, so, I shouldn’t have much of a problem.
Only Better…
Now, by the whole game being solo-able, I’m sure they left out the part that it’s pretty much only the story that’s solo-able. Actually, I’ve ran through this game quite a few times on different characters and didn’t once party to beat the game. Nor do events, especially group events.
As far as the third Act of the Mad King goes, if you play it smart, it as well can be soloed, I’ve already done this, and so have many others. Not everything those merchants sell after events are completely useless.
Now I don’t want to give away my secret or anything, because I’m sure if many people understood, and actually did do what me and my girlfriend do, the item would be removed so that we can’t duo dungeons. So, just for that sake, I’ll simply say explore the merchants after every event you do, especially the one’s in Caledon Forest (hint, hint, nudge, nudge).

Really? I rather enjoy other players making stupid decisions, and getting themselves killed, and the players who killed them don’t feel like they need to struggle to keep the dead players dead. I think the downed state in this mode is fine the way it is. It would be looked down upon in “E-Sports”, considering there’s so much that “Could” go wrong with players not being just dead. I don’t mind the option to resurrect them, and heck, it could be a 5 second res for all I care, I’d just rather not have someone interrupting me while I’m fighting such as getting a hammer to the face, and being knocked down when I’m about to kill someone else, and then dying, due to that other player knocking me down.
It’s difficult to stay focused on a “Downed” player, and the player you’re currently fighting at the same time, plus, you can only dodge twice, before having to regenerate your endurance again (which should be called stamina….). If you dodge the downed players knockdown skill, you risk the chance of not avoiding the enemy you’re fighting strong/main attack which could possibly kill you as well.
A lot would have to be thought out while trying to expand on this game mode. It’s just my personal belief that the downed state is a bad idea during “Some” types of PvP, and I believe if this were to be something ArenaNet would expand on, the “Downed” state should simply stay removed, unless they take out knockdowns, blinds, immobilize, and healing skills that players could use to self “Regenerate” themselves back to life. Again, just a personal out take on this particular game mode.
Only Better…
Well, the point was to have diff sets of skills, and being the Destinies Edge heroes, they do have diff skill sets, I suppose just picking a weapon at the beginning would work just as well.
Lol, I’ve never noticed the “No Down State”, but you’re right, after playing it just a bit before the “New Build” I just noticed you die, and can’t attack, either wait for a res, or respawn.
That being said, it is an incredibly fun game mode, I could definitely see this as Guild Wars 2’s “Esport”. People love MoBA games, and Anet can’t figure out a way to make a balanced PvP mode, well, this is exactly the way to keep it balanced, and I believe the exact way Guild Wars 2 could become an E-Sport. It’s balanced, there’s nothing you can say that states it’s not balanced. With some changes, new weapons, skills, etc. ArenaNet could indeed see this as being their “E-Sport”.
I would love to keep this mode, and would love to see maps, after maps thrown into this mode, larger maps, more buildings, maybe some different buildings to bring items to to spawn different type of “Minions” (just an idea, not really needed, but would be interesting).
I have to say it’ll be sad to see this go as well. I’m enjoying the hell out of it. The matches are fairly short, because of the small map, but that’s not a bad thing at all. Loving how short it is (Least for the personalized bags).
I personally believe ArenaNet should try to expand on this game mode. More voices, and opinions just need to be heard on this “Game Type”.

You press number 2, and toss it into the building, then it summons some minions (skeletons) to aid you in your battle. I might be the only one in the forums who actually finds this game mode fun.

Hello all,
I’d just like to say that this is exactly the type of PvP I look forward to seeing in Guild Wars 2, well, Team Deathmatch (TDM) would suit me more but the Reapers Brawl is a hell of a lot of fun. It’s like playing a 3D MoBA (i.e; DoTA, LoL, HoN, Etc), only with a smaller map.
Just the idea of gathering items bringing them back, and spawning minions is incredibly interesting, and then trying to destroy the enemy buildings, in a sense, is just like a MoBA. I would love to see this feature implemented into future updates as a permanent PvP game type. I am having an absolute blast with this game mode.
Players (Hero’s essentially), are all exactly the same, it’s nice to see that one class can’t just rush in, do tons of damage, and that you’re actually having to “Choose your battles”. It would be nice to see a variation between heroes, maybe add the main “Destiny’s Edge” heroes as playable heroes for this game mode, seeings how they all have random abilities considering what you think what type of class they are. Caithe for example clearly looks like a thief/ranger, yet, has the most messed up skills I’ve seen.
Long story short, love the Reapers Brawl, would love to see a game mode like this for PvP as a permanent feature in Guild Wars 2. Having a hell of a time!

MMO gamer’s today are too used to following a map with a big flashing symbol on it telling them “YOU NEED TO GO HERE”.
I can’t wait until they make an MMO without a map, no waypoints, no mounts and you walk into a cave and it’s pitch black. You don’t have a torch either.
Keep waiting, no one will buy it, or so few will be interested, and they’ll scrap the project.
It is true now today that people are way too used to “Goto the giant green dot on your map”. But what point is there to playing a game where you can do absolutely anything you want, but you’re not being told to kill 10 goblins. Are you still going to kill 10 goblins? Yes, yes you are, now which sounds more exciting, being rewarded for killing 10 goblins, or just killing 10 goblins on your own without being told to do so, nor being rewarded?
People who complain about games and quests, have no sense as to what is more exciting for the “Majority” of players. You can argue this if you’d like, however, you can’t prove to me, that a game with nothing to do could make millions. Almost every game out there has something to do, or some type of objective to reach, because game designers naturally, have played games, and do play games themselves, and would probably feel bored without any type of objective. Even the simplest of all games i.e; First Person shooters, have an objective “Kill The Opposing Team”.
Of course, if you’re looking for a game with no rewards, a little bit of exploration, no quests, absolutely nothing to do. I suggest checking out Wakfu, entertaining game no doubt (as I am a fan of strategy, and tactics games), but I find it incredibly dull, and boring, just going out on my own, for my own sake, and either endlessly killing things, or crafting. Go play Wakfu, come back, and you tell me which one is more fun, Guild Wars 2, or Wakfu.

I can kind of see where you’re coming from, and some what could agree to what you’re saying. It does feel like a rather “Pointless” addition in the update, I’ve only been doing the brawl for about 10 minutes, and afterwards, it became dull, and boring, I didn’t feel like I was actually working towards anything.
However, it is undeniably fun for others, and simply a feature to screw around when you have too much time on your hands. I would actually personally love to see the costume brawl as a permanent feature in Guild Wars 2, where you can just simply screw around for an hour, host an event that’s not “Quite” PvP, rather a waste of time as something to do while waiting on dungeon runs, or waiting for friends to come back from being away, etc.
You have to also remember, the update was not simply for content alone, it’s meant to be a festivity in Guild Wars 2, and transforming into “Haunting Creatures”, and beating each other up does in fact seem some what festive.
EDIT:
Lol @ second comment and costume brawl being permanent.

I suppose what you say does make sense in the other topic. However, what if ArenaNet decides to get rid of the Candy Corn period, so that no weapon skins could be crafted at all? It wouldn’t surprise me at all if they just removed the entire ore period. ArenaNet could have simply done something with the ore, such as set it on a time limit, and at the end of the event, everything just vanishes.
Though, I suppose waiting isn’t too bad. Still prefer to have an answer from ArenaNet themselves.

Hello all,
I am curious as to see what, and how the other acts will play out, and what other kind of special rewards we’ll be able to achieve. I can’t say I’m all over the hype of the Halloween event, it’s kind of dull, and boring I guess. the only thing I haven’t done yet, is found one of those “Haunted” doors, which I’m still looking forward to finding.
Here’s a question though. ArenaNet, do you have further use for the currency “Candy Corn”? As it stands now, it’s pretty much useless, at least to the classes I currently am playing, (Warrior/Guardian/Thief). Can’t really even use the Candy to purchase the temp weapon skins, because there’s only a Staff, Bow, and whatever else it was, certainly nothing I could use, nor care to use.
Also, why is there three different Candy Corn Vendor icons, when you only use the Candy Corn on one of them, the other recipes I’ve just gotten with Karma.
Anyways, love to know if there’s any reason for me to keep stacking this Candy Corn, haven’t sold any yet, but if there’s no further usage of this, I’d rather sell it, make some silver, and just ignore mining it period.

This thread is full on WIN. The game has its problems but honestly do we need a new “oh this game is so broken” thread posted every hour? The fact that ArenaNet is being so tight lipped about this event probably means it’s going to be something special. They could just as easily release all the details so the constant moaning would stop for a brief moment but they’re not. They really don’t want to spoil the surprise.
Technically, yes, we do need a new post every hour about how many bugs are in Guild Wars 2, without posts about bugs, the game would never get fixed. I do get the fact it’s bothersome seeing posts every “Hour” or you so put it, but it does in fact help, if people are posting about how terrible something is, and how often they post about it, the chances are, it’s likely to see change, and solve a bit of the complaining. Fact is, there’s always going to be complaining, you can’t make everyone happy, just the “Majority” of people who post about certain problems, or have problems with a certain function in the game.
I’m so-so about the update, it’s not going to be anything “Game Changing”, and I’m sure everyone knows that. Over hype too much, and you’ll only bring yourself to disappointment, as the update will be nothing like you’ve expected, or imagined in your head.
I’d “Personally” love to see something creepy, since it is a Halloween event. Something like the game “Requeim Bloody Nightmare” pulled off. They sure had some creative idea’s with that game, but I’d love to see monsters like that are all messed up, and creepy looking, get into the real sense of Halloween.

Interesting…. Didn’t know there was such a rune out there, didn’t report the guy myself, but he definitely as you seen, does NOT have a hyena further more, it’s weird that he has morethen just the one pet, and ever further more, the guy summoned 2 Charr warriors out of thin air.
If only I didn’t want my second account to badly… I’d find this hack, and use it on my second account haha.

If he truly is a hacker, that’s the point of the thread, and screenshot. I’d rather not play with hackers, just saying it’s an interesting hack, (if it is indeed one), and his monsters were tearing up everything lol.
