use DDU and install an older version of nvidia graphics driver, that usually fix it for me

i understand how it feels not being able to play. but gw2 requires a very consistent internet or else issues such as disconnects and black screens occur. i had an issue which gave me black screen every few minutes and i have to quit. and gw2 contacted me over 75 emails, more than 150 emails from both sides and only thing that fixed it was changing to a better internet provider. most of these disconnects issues are outside of anet reach which legally they cannot do anything about.

like everyone is saying, run pingplotter and see, it might be hard to digest but if it is not an issue from them, they cant help you but your internet provider can.

i dont think anet bans people using vpns, as wtfast has gw2 in their setup, you can try to see if its any different with your 14 day trial.

i have an i5 6600k and a 1080gtx asus oc edition strix and it dips below 60fps in places like LA. but in others its a bit more consistent.

yeah its just normal. nothing to be worried about. but once you have downloaded the game, keep it even if you do not play cause even if after a year you want to, you just need to do a small update, that is if you have space.

i deleted it and had to download 25gb+ which took nearly forever cause before reaching full speed it will throttle, and i have a download limit.

hi, is there a way you can get a downloaded one from a friend and copy paste just to see if it works. i did that mostly cause here we have a internet data limit.

And you should send a ticket as the technical team personally do not check each and every thread. you should get an answer from them within 1-2 days ( i had black screen issues and exchanged more than 150 emails within 3 days) they are really helpful and had many things to try which i did not know.

your pc is a laptop or desktop? check your temperature while playing gw2 using a program like speccy/cpu-z

hi, i wanted to start by saying that you have a nice computer setup there. and the chance of this issue being due to overheating is low as the same thing happened on your laptop. but just to clear it off,

what cpu cooler do you use?

how many case fans do you have?

use speccy/hwmonitor/cpu-z to monitor your temperature.

and also please do this for me, download aida64 extreme, u can get 30 day trial and stress test using it to see if your computer hangs during stress test.

your case is a really good one with a lot of space for air flow, so unless you put really less thermal paste on the cpu, did not remove the plastic on the cpu cooler, or if the cpu cooler is not touching the cpu (might cause damage as thermal paste might drip on to motherboard, but if you did secure it enough, it should be alright.) connecting cpu cooler (Aftermarket ones which u probably bought cause u have a k version) is a 2-3 man job to do it perfectly.

yeah its a bug that anet already knows, and has mentioned that they are working on a fix. but i dont think they consider it game breaking (which i think it is and requires a hotfix).

after the linking, it does get crazy when theres huge zergs in the map. at one point during a 3 way fight my fps went from 102 to 15 within a second. felt like hell.

godric, you asked what you need to do. the only major thing you can do is wait until its fixed on that particular node.

but if you want to take another route, use pingplotter, figure out which node is having problem and use another. i am not entirely sure anet agrees with such third party applications but alot people uses them. to take different routes, there are some free ones that can be used for 1 month without paying. that is the only thing you can do.

i know its tough, but i had the same problem for me and it took 3 months to fix. and worst of it, you cannot find anyone agreeing to it being their fault, its al too sketchy.

i have been playing gw2 for a long while and my laptop has a 850m dedicated graphics nvidia card. im not sure which was it but after a patch from nvidia or gw2 (maybe both), i started to get 20 fps on all modes, even on high and even on low in LA.

so i decided to check out an older nvidia version which was 358.50, now im once again getting high fps, about 60 on auto detect (which is medium/high) even during busiest LA time.

oh and i use windows 8.1 cause switching to windows 10 kept causing alot problems for the laptop as well as gw2

Well, doing the fractal normally (kill effigy -> kill boss -> rince and repeat) cannot be an illegal action. Why should it? In that way the topic is a little misleading.

The real question is if skipping half of the fractal because of a dev oversight is an illegal action.
ArenaNet has not stated anything against or for that. (afaik) To this day the players just go by the rule “Abuse it until it’s fixed”.
I have heard some groups that said that skipping that way would be bannable, but that just seems unsensical and impractical, because so many people use the exploit.

you are right, anet will not be banning them. last time this happened, anet just fixed the bug and mentioned it was an exploit. and im not sure that bug can be repeated anymore. not that i have seen. Could be OP heard about the exploit from a third person and didnt see it himself as this was fixed back then (i checked on all characters that it used to work on)

that exploit already has been patched and it doesnt work anymore, but u can farm the normal way killing the first boss and proceeding, doesnt take really long. its just same as doing any other fractal. theres no rule against it that i know of.

should have been a hotfix, but anet hasnt responded to any of this. been bugged for more than a week. i used to play 15 hours a day in wvw, but dont even feel like it anymore after alpine came with the bugs.

this is an issue that has been happening since 2012, and has stumped the devs. i exchanged more than 150 emails with them trying to figure it out but nothing worked. for some people changing router or disabling the router firewall fixed it. for others it didnt get fixed at all. right now im playing the game with 10+ blackscreen a day which is highly annoying and making me consider to stop playing until its fixed or something

yes, the bug is that if you put an LFG up (second time, lets say after a fractal and one person leaves) it will get bugged and shows the same old first LFG you wrote instead of the one you redid. so you have to edit the LFG in order for it to show the correct one you wish to apply.

Main problem of this is, in fractal people join thinking we are still going to do a fractal which we have finished. in raid it becomes a huge problem as we are handling 10 people and someone joins before we can re edit and remove a class that we have abundance of and it leads to having to kick him and redoing LFG.

i do tequalt everyday so i am pretty much talking from experience (i do all 12/13 world bosses daily), usually teq gives me 4 chest and i always do all the events in it. but there are some times i get 3 or 2 chests. i just decide that its a small bug and let it go since it doesn’t do much demerit for me. but Insane.3694 is correct, it is a bug and it should be looked into

it depends on the quantity of times people try it. i got the game back when gw2 came out, and quit within a month and restarted with HoT on same account. after HoT, i have gotten 9 precursors in 3 months, 20 ascended chest from fractal (excluding 5 i got after the fractal patch recently) 1 from TT, 1 from Teq and 1 from WvW.

doesn’t necessarily mean that new people are getting them, just that they try their luck more.

beepboopbop is not correct. revenents can win alot in solo (i do solo wvw runs as well as zerg runs on revenent 100%). but one of the traits i use has been removed for hotfix, so i havent done much soloing. if you wish to contact me in game. use whitefang.4968 . we can try out different builds together and find one that will be good for you to solo on

yes, we are getting 100% exotics on different weapons each. so everyone is doing aetherblade once a day. right now almost all weapons are at 5g and most expensive at 55g. i just finished doing it and got the staff, did 3 days and got 3 exotics.

my fps used to be 100 in LA and after a recent new patch of gw2, it went to 20-30. so i decided to test some things out. (i always have latest nvidia graphics update). what i found out was the latest nvidia graphics patch and the gw2 doesnt play well together. i removed it fully using an application and installed 2015 october nvidia graphics version and getting 100fps again. sometimes 120 on high.

Do we know when the next hotfix window will be? this bug is making us wait for days and waste alot of time.

they already have been notified and figured out a fix for it. but they will only apply it in the next hotfix they mentioned. so most probably wvw reset time with the server linking im assuming. me and guildies tried like 10 times and kept messing up at the last 10% cause the green circle spawn in spots where its hard to reach as VG goes to middle or chase a seeker.

Also how is considered fair to reduce condi duration with runes and food and the siege user who has condi gear get no benefit?

if thats the way its going to work, people on power build should do way more direct damage on people than condi class players. which it dont.

honestly the LFG for raid just suck. it has been greatly improved since launch but it is still flawed, forcing the rise of raid guild which serve no purpose other than addressing lfg inability to list raid schedule in game.

You should download the new patch and try it out. I told you all it was coming.

the new patch has some sweet lfg and it was buged at first. anet said they have fixed it but its still bugged for the most part.

they mentioned tey have a fix now and wil apply in the next hotfix

we tried VG 10 times today. each time reached 10% and it goes towards a seeker or to middle and that makes the green circle spawn erratically. and we fail at 10-15% with 2mins remaining.

hoping for the fix to be applied soon as we havent been able to complete it for 3 days

you most probably ran into a warrior as Mitz mentioned, its arisky movie since second time you die you get fully dead.

i am a wvwer and playing revenent. taking away weapon swap will affect in a highly negative way, during zergs i use hammer to attack from far and swap to sword shield after getting close. furthermore i do alot solo runs where i run to 2 people groups whereby to win in the fight i need to have alot mobility, which is why i have energy sigil on sword and hammer so each swap gives me endurance, it keeps me alive. this is one of the worst idea ever i seen on this forum yet. think of other game modes rather than the only one you play.

Yes im fully aware of things that might be affecting it. my ping to gave has been always the same. (other than when anet servers go wonky and people get 4k ms random)

This issue has no correlation with ping. my fps is fine as shown by game and overwolf. but the screen tends to get stuck for a second or so. very visible when playing

yup, i am having the same issue that you are. my FPS even at 60 makes it look like im having way bad fps, sometimes mouse acts funny or even the game itself looks like its on 10-15fps.

I would like to raise another thing thats slightly related to this topic.

In WvW we have peoples name changed to server plus their wvw rank instead of their own which is to protect privacy and to avoid enemy or any other server players to contact that person.

However, if you block a person by clicking on his character, then right clicking his DP and block, it shows all the details of the person which enables them to whisper you and flame or do many other things.

I think this feature should work different in WvW to avoid such scenario’s.

I want to add one more thing to this list, its about WvW.

in World VS World, we are protected from the enemy knowing our name by showing our wvw rank, but people can just block a person by clicking their image and then check name, unblock and whisper. i believe in wvw blocking should be disabled or any other fix thats appropriate

i believe that is a skill used by one of the class, i am not sure which. and it does deplete CC bar of bosses by a lot so people tend to use it i guess.

If its not caused by a skill, it happens to me too. but i really think its a normal skill

Shadow, you have been experiencing black screens for a while, have you found any reason for it to happen? like an application cross talk causing it or anything else?

yeah i hav been following your thread for a while as well, i tried around 25 fixes that anet provided with no luck. and worst of all we cannot get crash log since the black screen itself isnt a crash per se. trying my best in getting crash log for GM atm

I am posting this here in order to see if anyone has found a fix for sudden black screen client whereby the whole screen goes black but you can hear the music of the game in the background until you forcefully close the client and reopen.

I also do want to mention that i have been in contact with anet team trying to fix, however all of their fixes havent provided any fruitful results, so i am coming here to see if anyone has had the same problem and have fixed it.

The game has been literally unplayable for me lately as i get black screen while doing a meta event in HoT map or during a wvw fight or even world bosses.

It was at the right time, i went to frozen maw at the correct time twice and quest didnt progress. i waited until pre time was over and another 5 minutes and there was no extra quest to do. just scholar brogun stuck at the spot. i do all 13 world boss everyday, so im sure im not mistake. i use my local time.

Frozen Maw world boss bugged where Scholar Brogun spawns and does not move.

the bug is consistent as this is 2nd time it happened today

I recently switched my normal adsl connection to a fiber one and the day i switched i have started getting the black screen. about 8-10 times a day. it is highly annoying as i do wvw and its either during a fight or taking towers/keeps that it happens and i have to close the game fully. i first thought it was a driver issue so had it reupdated but that did not fix, so my conclusion is connectivity issue.

it just started to give the same error report in Seas of Sorrow Borderland. more than half the squad disconnected. but some of them dont sometimes.

Edit 1 : we have reduced it to the only option which was, whenever the guy tagging up (commander tag) waypoint in wvw, it crashes for everyone.
Also joining the squad or getting invitation and accepting crashes the game for the person who joins

I am from Seas of Sorrow who is up against Tarnished Coast and Fort Aspenwood in WvW. whenever we move to FA Borderland, everyone get an error asking if they want to send a report to anet and then game fully crashes.

Yeah its happening to both EU and NA servers.

any new update on the issue? been 3 days after your last reply and 8 days since Michael said that they are looking into it.

if you are playing without charger connected, might cause lack of FPS, or the game might be opening in inbuilt graphics card rather than nvidia, you can change that by doing the following:

-Right click desktop and go to “NVIDIA Control Panel”
-Choose “Manage 3D settings”
-in the part of “Preferred graphics processor” choose "high performance nvidia processor.

i kind of agree with OP on this. he has worked hard on his account and it got banned without any fault of his . i do understand its not anets fault, but after the fault has been found and OP is willing to rebuy it all, anet should unban the account or atleast give a solution. if they dont, here on after would be their fault. even i who have had an account since the beginning would quit if i get banned over nothing, but atleast thunderdownunder is trying his best to figure out who is at fault and attempting to fix it.

i really hope it goes well for thunderdownunder and it gets unbanned after you pay the money back.
