You’re not guaranteed to recharge the venom’s. So you’re basing half your builds effectiveness on a 1 in 5 chance

I bound my naga keys to F1-F12. Then in game I changed key bindings so that the F skills are 1, 2, 3 and 4 and 1-10 are F1-F10. Movement, tab targeting and weapon swap are unchanged. Call Target and Take Target on F11, F12 (naga 11, 12) and mouse wheel click to dodge. I made this set up specifically for my Ele so I didn’t have to reach for anything when swapping attunements. but it’s been great on my Thief and so far on my Ranger as well.

Out of curiosity, what would be the optimal gear setup for P/P? 50/50 Carrion/Zerker? Dire/Zerker? Something else? Kinda seems like that kind of hybrid set would synergize with D/D too, in a P/P + D/D setup.

This is what I’ve been running on my thief and I find it quite fun. The way I have it set up in that link is for PVE for WvW I change a few things. Change out the Signet of Malice for Hide in the Shadows, change the Purity sigil for Fire. In Trickery change “Uncatchable” for “Thrill of the Crime” and if you’re not running with the Zerg change “Ricochet” for “Bountiful Thief”. And I always use Bloodlust and food.

I’m sure plenty of people will disagree but I run it because its fun for me. With all the initiative regen I can Unload 4-6 times then if I need more, Steal, Roll for Initiative and I’m good to go. Like I said for me, this works great in PVE and WvW but in sPvP, P/P just sucks. With the way sPvP is “balanced” I haven’t been able to make it work.

This is a little off your topic But I leveled my Ele with my wife’s Ranger. That was a pretty nice combo with all the fire and water fields from an Ele worked well with the Ranger and her pets.

Transmute soulbound legendary into an white weapon.
Split white with legendary skin in another toon to receive back an soulbound legendary in that toon.

That is also used in the thief hood in other classes, pretty much the same mechanic.

I cant’ believe this change went live. The problem with P/P is and always has been that it’s overly reliant on Initiative to be effective at dealing damage. This is why Body Shot sucked (it was in indirect problem, not a direct one).

What should have happened is a buff to Vital Shot and a redesign to Unload to make it have a different domain than Vital Shot and put it on a more level playing field with the other utilities that you currently get little use out of because you have to drop all your damage to use them.

Seriously, whoever is in charge of balance updates is atrocious at their job.

I don’t agree. Many thieves have wanted body shot changed for a long time. I do agree that vital shot should have got a buff though. I am not sure if I would change unload much. If I did anything I might just speed up the animation and lower initiative cost by 1.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a buff to Unload’s dmg. Something like 5-10% would be nice

The Predator is my favorite Legendary. for that reason alone (I do like your idea though) I support this

Your Title caught my eye. I find your post interesting because I started in this game as a Thief got to 80 geared him out and just was never happy. I moved on made and Ele got better at the game in general and went back to my Thief with a new outlook. I’m running a pistol build and love it (everyone says pistol’s are bad, I don’t care its fun). Anyway my point is this, I’ve been leveling a Ranger (lvl 45 now) and playing mostly melee because that’s how i want to play it. Ive been blown away because so far the fighting style is what I had wanted out of the Thief .

I’m sure they will then nerf staffs about 2 or 3 weeks later when they think staffs are op.

Just out of curiosity. If the above quote is how you feel, why are you playing an MMO at all?

Personally, I use Zerker armor and Valks trinkets (all exotic). If you already have the ascended Zerker trinkets then I’d say Valk armour with Ruby orbs. Unless there’s something better with the MF changes that just happened, I haven’t had time to log in the last two days so idk.

I’ve been playing with a very similar build in PVE, I’ve found a sigil of purity in one of my pistol to be a pretty good source of condition removal as that one thing this build/style really lacks. Here is what I’m running. Like I said its very similar, not sure how it would preform in WvW I haven’t tried it yet. To me it has been more of a “screw it, I wanna be a gunslinger” PVE build

Its just for early leveling since other classes have 3 skills on their main hand and 2 on off hand and we get 2 main 2 off with a dual skill. Other wise when you start youd have a dagger with 2 skills and be saying f this

I really like the quick Venoms idea. well thought out, we’ll probably never get burning on thieves but we can hope

i always Play GW2 together with my wife, so our meps or the chance to drop something should be similar, just wondering if anyone else had the luck to drop those 100k holo wings from a mob?

so far i got around 7 knight minis, no tickets, my wife on the other hand has around 12 minis, 3 (!) tickets AND 2 holo wings from mobs. I mean, is she really THAT lucky or did they change something? before it happened I had no clue that mobs can drop them.

My wife and I play together also. I usually have the better luck between the two of us but so far nothing for her and all I’ve gotten is 5 of the risen knights from regular coffers.

I would think MF would affect the drop rate of coffers but I can’t say for certain. MF in this game seems to be crap anyway. I have a full set of MF gear (205-260% MF depending on buffs) and I don’t notice a big difference with or without it. Every 100% of MF that you have only elevates you’re loot chances by .01% so………..yeah.

I feel like everyone missed the point that the OP was trying to make. “The gambling boxes need better consolation prizes”

I didn’t. Mine is just below mid level. But as a male, the height between max and mid isn’t that drastic. Especially when you have bulk on your side. Mine is even the thinnest body but the thinnest male norn body isn’t that thin. It’s pretty healthy to my RL human eyes.

I used the thinnest male body on my Norn as well and certain sets of armor (heavy cause he’s a warrior) still make him look fat to me. For example, The Draconic legs make him seem twice as wide as I made him. Glad I’m not the only that thinks thin isn’t thin. I’d have liked to make a norn that had a human build and was just really tall but oh well

Been wondering this and haven’t seen an answer anywhere. I would imagine as long as you have the back piece you could ascend it any time. But I wanted to make sure that the the recipe for ascending doesn’t disappear when the event ends. Can anyone confirm this?

OP you’re mad that GW2 isn’t what you want it to be. But it is what A-net designed it to be. are there bugs/problems? Yes. Are they working on them? Yes. It may not be the speed at which you or I would like but they ARE working on it. No MMO is ever finished, that’s the nature of the type of game it is. There is no trinity in this game and you know what? it works. It’s frustrating at times because this game is different from any MMO we’ve played before but it DOES work. This isn’t WoW, (thank god). If you don’t like the game for the core mechanics, (no trinity everyone is heals, dps and support) then maybe this just isn’t the game for you.

Seriously? too powerful? I’ll agree that the Ele is in a good place compared to others. So, how about this, focus on bringing other classes up instead of wildly swinging nerf bats at classes that still have some viability.

I recently picked my thief back up after playing ele for several months. Been runing P/D with all Carrion gear (just what I was running when I switched to ele). throwing apothecary trinkets (with chrysocola gems) into the mix makes for an interesting looking build (on paper at least). giving up a little bit of direct dmg, about 200 power but gaining a lot of toughness and healing power and keeping the same condi dmg. Gonna have to try this out.

People are losing patience. I’ll bet if you took a moment to go through someones post history things started out much better. But, after months of being screwed over/dissapointed, good will starts to wear thin.

It’s not about ‘solo’ as much as it’s about scalable dungeons. In theory, a dungeon could be scaled for not only solo play but also for groups greater than 5 players.

Wouldn’t you be happy if yourself and any number of friends could run a dungeon together?

I’d be happy if people would stop complaining about EVERYTHING to the point of anet making this easy mode game even easier
