Again, people are missing the point of the LFG tool.
It’s not there to help you find the best possible group according to some standards. It’s there to help you socialize.
If you are trying to use it to filter out “bad” players, you are using it wrong, and it’ll be useless to you. Just stick to lfg-ing in map chat as much as you like.
You know all those dead MMOs? A lot of them used to have large population, but people were kittens to each other making many people quit. Then kittens quit, and the remaining players flood the forums with posts on how they should work on improving the community and be nice and all. Sounds familiar?
Just some food for thought.
As always, it depends on context. If someone reports you for being offensive, and Arena.net reps decide that it is, you’re toast.
Just post it somewhere on these forums I guess. Here’s a list of topics that already exist:
This game needs to be like Morrowind, where you could kill Fargoth.
- There’s quite a few more dungeon newbies
That’s to be expected.
One player I partied with in fractals said something like “I never tried fractals until now. Hate looking for group.”. This tool actually increases people’s interest in dungeons, which is great.
We already had months of free transfers at launch. It was horrible.
“help players get together” by excluding those who want smooth runs?
You’re a joke, Shiren. At least be up front and just say “good, I don’t like elitists” rather than trying to add some moral justification to your view.
Your idea of “smooth runs” is abusive and insulting to the majority of GW2 community. Not really what this game is about.
Although I suspect that devs will eventually cave in and implement at least some of elitist-friendly features into LFG.
I literally do not care what class people bring as long as it’s not necro (no group utility, so basically a leech class), and they’re using the right gear and traits. I don’t see how that’s abusive or insulting, in fact it’s more open-minded than we were in the speed running community a few months ago where it was run war/guard/mes or get out.
If ANet allow players to actually accept/decline people trying to join via LFG and if n my wildest dreams they actually implement a gear check, that would be great. Even if gear check was just set to an option, that way people who don’t care won’t switch it on, and people who actually value efficiency and their own time will be able to keep bads out of their group.
The devs have said that the tool is designed to let you find a group “as fast as possible”, in the sense that by using it you accept the chance of literally anyone suitable joining your group. Suitable as far as in “recommended dungeon level” suitable, mostly.
Having extreme expectations like filtering “bads” does not help that goal. Instead it makes it more difficult to actually form groups and only prolongs the process. It’s not there to help you find the optimal speed-clearing group, it’s there to find you a group right now.
They are basically implying that certain individuals will have to use other means to find groups, the LFG tool is not designed to support that, both for social and technical (and probably also financial) reasons.

and what’s the point of
… your post in this topic?
If you don’t plan on doing any PvP you can just destroy them. However they PvP gear is also used when doing various mini games.
Make sure you salvage them, not just destroy them. You’ll need the special PvP salvage kit for that.
It resets along with the dailies. Are you sure that 24 hours passed?
Stormbluff Isle should have its temples open in about 19-20 hours from now, after our weekly temple run.
I’d recommend keeping both of your guesting options free, because sometimes these events bug out and we have to guest to do some of the temples elsewhere.
THe party merge feature is the worst thing on it. 2-3 people can just join your group and kick the leader instantly with almost no way to retaliate.
If they are doing that to troll, you can report them. Normal groups will not join your party just to kick you.
Would the Guild Wars Namegenerator help?
One problem I had with it was that I tried to use it while my character was on an Overflow server, and it seemed to be seeking responses only from other Overflow people. It should instead ALWAYS seek out members of my home server, or at the very least offer a dropdown menu of which server I’m seeking to group on.
I don’t think it works like that. It’s supposed to work server-wide for Living World and Personal Story categories, and region-wide (NA or EU) for dungeons and fractals.
Kossman, I have no idea what you mean in your posts :P
I don’t think any of those will be implemented, and for a good reason.
(I don’t think so based on general vibes I got from listening what developers were saying about the LFG tool)
I think that additional buttons on the mouse make it harder to use without pushing a button you don’t intend to.
Keyboard for me.
Current LFG topics (just for reference):
LFG Tool, exploration tabs, top last party req.
Automatic queue tool won’t work in this game. We need a more open tool, not a more closed one.
Open, as in allowing us to create a group without being restricted by specific options (for example, a group that just runs around the open world and does stuff). That means we need to read the group description and agree to it before joining.
One of the groups I’ve seen today stated that they did not intend to finish an explorable path (they were farming some boss). Now imagine that the automatic tool adds a person that wants a full clear of the path to that group. Waste of time and resources.
People are exaggerating and nitpicking.
I have plenty of guild members who enjoy playing their rangers, elementalists and engineers.
Like i said in another posts, overflow and guesting is just the wrong premise; it’s like inviting people over to your house for dinner and they kick you out leaving you to go have dinner at a restaurant and sleeping at a motel. People who are on the server should always be prioritized and if that cannot happen then they need to merge the low pop servers and kill guesting at least for the first week of new events.
The server is not your house.
There are no servers beyond WvW. Dungeons, for example, are treated as if servers did not exist.
You have no right to anything on your server over guesters. The game already gives you a priority when moving you from overflow to the normal zones.
What does the LFG tool have to do with the report button?
Overall it’s a great tool, ready for release. I could make and join groups easily, and find additional party members within seconds of listing my group. It works very effectively for the specific dungeons and events that are on the list already.
A few improvements could be nice though:
- The tool currently has rather strict categories. You can’t make a group for WvW or open world, because the closest categories for that are Living World or Personal Story. What if I just want to group for a difficult skill point challenge marathon? Or WvW roaming on a specific borderland? There could also be a commander squad LFG option.
- The current categories could have numbers indicating how many advertisements are currently active. Right now we have to click on each dungeon to see if there are any parties, not very convenient.
- The tool should show what server everyone is on, before joining the group.
- As others said, we should be able to browse groups while advertising our own. Don’t make them grey out.
- The tool got stuck once and I couldn’t list the party on LFG, so there are still some bugs (I was in a fractal with the Fractal Transit Query window open if that is related)
I made some similar suggestions in Orr could be scarier

Please make more bosses like Teq. Shatner, for instance.
Why am I not a priority on my own server?
Because it’s not your own server. Someone was there first, you missed the opportunity.
The only reason to transfer is WvW. PvE should remain free and unlimited. like it has successfully been for months. Changing it for one world boss just to satisfy a few self-entitled selfish people would be silly.
but they have no intention to transfer, they only want the achievement
Which is the whole point of having guesting. You do what you want to do without transfering.
Disabling transfering would mean that people are required to pay money to PvE on other servers. Think about that for a while.
It’s not time to disable anything.
You don’t deserve to kill Tequatl on your home server any more than anyone that guests on it.
Being on a server since launch doesn’t entitle you to having more rights than guests.
The whole point of guesting is that anyone is welcome at any time. Don’t like overflows? Wait on the map before the event starts or guest yourself on a low-pop server.
Dey took or jobs!
If you are killing mobs fast, all your stunbreakers will be on cooldown most of the time, so that won’t really help.

Look at that URL… “TA_NextHero”. Most likely a TA rework, maybe a new path (Temporary, only for the living story period, probably 4 weeks) Including “A new hero” which is the person on the picture, Caithe’s daughter
Question, considering Sylvari don’t “breed”, how exactly would Caithe have a daughter?
Mitosis.
Although that wouldn’t make her a “daughter”, and more of a clone.
Well, if devs start showing up on my doorstep 8 o’clock Sunday mornings to tell me about the new quaggan backpacks in the gem store, I’m calling the police.
Well not everyone pays attention to the game launcher do they. Not everyone visits the website regularly and look up for the news do they.
Then what do you expect the developers to do to warn people? Visit them personally irl and ring their door bell?
Now this poor sir here made a mistake not reading the updates and is his fault o.o
Not reading the updates? This was hyped for months. Everyone and his grandmother was aware of this change.
Well there is always a 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance that a unlucky soul missed it. Like Mr.Collin who had a 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% chance of messing up.
There’s nothing unlucky about it. If you have missed all the blogs, all the forum discussions, all the map chat discussions, for several months… there’s definitely something wrong on your end.
Now this poor sir here made a mistake not reading the updates and is his fault o.o

People that are serious about making gold are paying attention to the game updates and announcements. It’s a market that changes all the time, you can’t expect to watch the news once in a blue moon and still stay on top of things.
Which means the news of the change was only reaching a minority of the players. Announcement of the changes were not made in game any where so the ‘silent majority’ could be informed.
There were plenty of discussions about it in game chats, I assure you.
How on this green earth would a PTR/PTS be useless? Having more testing is always better than not.
Testing doesn’t fix bugs. Fixing bugs fixes bugs.
They have a database full of more bugs than you could possibly find in a month of PTR, that they have no time to fix.
You can play the entire game, including level 80, in blue gear. That doesn’t mean you should, obviously, but it also means that you don’t need to constantly upgrade your gear with the best possible stats.
Up to level 80, you’ll be fine if you upgrade all your gear to Masterwork every 10 levels or so. You can add an occasional yellow that you find, but I wouldn’t buy any on TP.
At level 80, ignore yellows and slowly make a suit of exotics with the stats you prefer. Also pay attention to what Ascended items you can buy (see how many Laurels and Guild Commendations you have), and get them instead of exotics. Then slowly work towards crafting other Ascended items.
What do you enjoy doing in an RPG game? Running dungeons? PvP? Roleplaying?
If you are bored with farming champions (not surprising), you can run some dungeons. There are four of them available by the time you reach level 65. If you need an alrernative to beating up NPCs, you can do a few matches in sPVP arenas, you don’t need to be level 80 to participate. If you prefer large-scale battles, you can jump into any of the WvW areas, where you also don’t need to be level 80.
If you prefer to continue roleplaying and PvE, you can just explore the world. There are many beautiful areas, and many interesting events that are overlooked by the train farmers.
As long as it doesn’t develop opposable thumbs, we should be safe.
People bandy around many things, including nobodies like Athene, Kripparian etc.
At least Extra credit made a coherent and enjoyable video that makes a valid point.
Looking for a Dev to give a valid reason why a PVP area is needed for PVE World Completion
Here’s the reason: it’s not “PVE World Completion”, it’s “World Completion”.
Follow up:
Using gw2state I checked the Temple of Balthazar 3 times yesterday and once this morning, the result… each time, closed on Every server. Oh so sad.
Stormbluff Isle clears temples every Saturday, either its own or on another server. If you don’t find an open temple till then, you can always count on that.
Indeed, how come there are no risen dolyaks?
The trinity is a remnant of old times, as the technology and creativity goes forward the mechanics should change.
Technically, the trinity is a mainstreamed version of the classic pen and paper rpg system. Which is also more realistic, as a fighter or a mage wouldn’t have time to study both their main profession and healing. You don’t see many soldiers who are also doctors after all.
The trinity has to go for technical reasons, it’s not there because anyone lacks creativity or anything. It simply doesn’t work very well outside of its native format.
