Again the game design has been misunderstood. You are not supposed to farm those things. You do some dungeons, you get some. You do a puzzle for your daily, you get some more.

You get these things by playing regularly, there is no need to farm them. Instead, you calculate the time it takes to get them to the millisecond, and complain.

You are like that Dontaine guy on youtube…

Money doesn’t have to go directly into Arena.net’s pockets to benefit them. Arena.net got other stuff for the mini, which they apparently think is enough. If it’s not, it’s up to their legal department.

If you can’t get that mini for whatever reason, you are simply not the target audience for it.

I’m sorry but I have to also disagree. Whatever point you’re trying to make, you are not making.
When we are litterally complaining on forum that we can’t throw our cakitten Anet because it’s not in the gemstore I see absolutely no reason why we should not be their target audience. They are a company. Companies want to make money. Simple right?
I think I get what you are trying to argue though; They got a bit more attention at Gamescon/PAX because of the minis… Except no one knew the minipet would be released there. And with the exception of earning 700$ from eBay those visitors would not have been less happy have they been given a gemcard, some exotic weapon or other freebies that we have access to too. There is absolutely no reason to make the pet exclusive.

They released it at the con because the con wanted to be popular for offering cool stuff to its visitors. Exclusive stuff helps with that. So these cons apparently made an offer Arena.net couldn’t refuse. You don’t know what they got for it (in money or promotion), but I assure you it was more than enough (comparable to selling it in gem store), or they wouldn’t do it.

If you don’t go to these cons, either by yourself or just to get the mini, you are not the intended audience for those minis.

And since they are offered on ebay for a million galactic credits, you can buy them on ebay since you won’t go to the con yourself. You don’t have the credits? Well, sucks. Some people do, and they’ll get the minis.

What is the point of karma consumables now?

Speaking of useless clicking though Why did they make the essences of luck a consumable??? There’s no boosters, no level scale, no reason why you should automatically get the luck as far as I can see…

There’s a big difference between having the luck applied straight after salvage, and looking at the item and clicking it.

Again, the intended way to use the essences is not to buy a million of greens and consume them in one go. You can do that, but then don’t complain about clicking. They are intended to be used over a long time period.

Cosmetic items were supposed to befunding this game since the beginning. If you can’t afford them, you simply can’t have them, and it’s perfectly fine because it doesn’t prevent you from playing the game in any way. Having a luxury item is not something you are entitled to. You are entitled to having mandatory items, like exotics, which you can get through many means within the game.

(And you obviously can’t afford them if you complain in topics like this instead of buying them for 600 or 60000000 or whatever price they are sold for)

You’re not very sharp, are you? Because what you said has nothing to do with the issue in this thread.

People are complaining because they can afford it, it’s just that there are no means for alot of people to get it. If I pay $2000 to go Germany to get that code, NONE OF MY CASH went to ANet in doing so. If I lay $700 on eBay for Mini-Sparkles, Not a single cent I own went to Anet in doing so. Unfortunately for me, I live in Australia and we don’t even get Cons or big companies coming over here, so I’m largely over the whole thing simply because more likely than not I’ll never get one anyway.

I can guarantee you, majority of the people who want a Mini Sparkles will be able to afford it if they released it in the store. And honestly, that’s something that LoL did very well. Alot of their gaming con content drew heaps of issues from people, so what they did, was they made _______ code available at the con. People who went were able to get it for free, but people who couldn’t go for any number of reasons could buy it from the cash store. Then, after that convention weekend, the content would disappear forever. If they did something similar, at least people have a chance of getting the dam thing.

ANet by no means needs to copy other companies, but they could learn a couple of things here and there, especially if they work.

Please tell me how would I be “befunding this game” buy buying a card code from some random person not associated with ArenaNet? As far as I know it’s against ToS.

You are “befunding” this game by buying the game card, which in turn was bought from Arena.net by the other parties for promotional reasons. Arena.net gets money or other stuff from those parties.

Sorry, but, you’re totally wrong example being that if I buy the game from ANET it is WELL WRITTEN that I CANNOT resell it as stated in the GW2 EULA same goes for items purchased, unless, explicitly told/indicated that you could do so, read the game rules, I do.

Right, people complaining in this topic are doing so because they are concerned about Arena.nets intellectual property /rolleyes

Arena.net has a working legal department. Let them handle any possible infractions if there are any.

To the OP’er;

You wouldn’t cuss out a hardware provider for providing new hardware, no matter how much you paid for the old stuff. Give that same courtesy to software/game developers.

Interesting analogy, but it doesn’t apply as is. However, I can convert it to one that does:

You and I both buy new hard disks for our computers (same day, same store, etc.) Unbeknownst to us, your disk is a slightly different model from mine, under the hood.

Later, the hardware vendor realizes they screwed up and that both disks will lose data on the disks due to their error. So, they offer me a replacement disk (same size). However, for yours they offer to remove the bad spot on the disk and let you keep it (as a smaller disk, due to the error removal).

Now the analogy fits. Is it fair?

The analogy doesn’t fit.

You don’t buy those cards, they are given for free at events. If you can’t be bothered to read the whole thread, please don’t be bothered to reply at all.

Your definition of “buy” and “free” seems to be a little off.

And this thread is about “omg they are not letting me have that mini because I can’t afford to go to that event or buy it later from people that could”.

Achievement points mean nothing.

They mean nothing and that’s why they are the metric that Anet uses for leaderboards ranking: https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/na/achievements

Those are achievement leaderboards, of course they count achievements for them.

"Unrealistic"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Except the point was probably that making an armor for humans means it’s automatically done for Norn and for Sylvari too short of a couple tweaks. Whereas making the same armor for Charr and Asura would need to start from scratch.

And that is even counting the fact that Charr and Asura only have male models for armor.

No problem with that, but it has nothing to do with how many people play the races.

Kind of a vicious cycle, people not playing them because of issues and then saying well not enough people play them so there is a lower priority to fix issues with them.

You don’t totally have to start from scratch, but I know what you mean.

No, if people wanted to play charr, they’d play them despite the issues.

AntiGw.9367

If you spec a PvE Guardian into a boon machine, you can do pretty amazing stuff with him, although it can get pretty hectic to manage all that. I’m not sure if that is the active playstyle you’re looking for.

For example, one of my guildmates was constantly generating an insane amount of AoE Might in a dungeon, in addition to other boons. I had 25 stacks on me at one point.

Basically, a Guardian is not just about running up to a mob with a greatsword and pressing 2.

AntiGw.9367

You need to state what you mean by endgame, because a Guardian is played very differently in WvW, sPvP and PvE.

Based on your description I’d guess that you’re a PvE player so far. A greatsword is indeed ideal there, but in other modes it’s quite less so. sPvP favors a hammer with another weapon of choice. WvW is more flexible.

It is possible to make a more mobile Guardian, although his usefulness would depend on what you want to do with him.

Guardian or Thief - WvW Roaming & FotM

in Players Helping Players

AntiGw.9367

Guardian is more about team play, thief is more about hit and run.

If you like to play solo, use a thief. Nobody can kill you in WvW, you’ll get the highest score in sPvP even though your team will lose as a result. Thieves are forgettable in a group.

Guardian is slow and requires a group-oriented mindset. Always useful in any group.

You’ll find that there is no shortage of gear in this game. You literally have tons of options both while you level and after hitting level 80 (drops, quest rewards, trading post, even karma vendors sell useful gear, dungeons, guild missions).

Another thing to keep in mind is that gear is not the most important thing in this game. You can use what is considered sub-optimal gear almost as well as the best min-max setup, there is a very questionable difference.

GW2 is more about cosmetic gear differences, and less about stats.

If you don’t have time to complete one of these releases, how can you possibly complete them all after they start piling up, if Arena.net suddenly decides to make them permanent?

The problem here is that you don’t have time for them, not the pace of the events themselves. You’ll just have to prioritize, real life or games.

Now the quality of the events is another matter. They have started to change from more inspired things like SAB to zergfests that nobody can play at any decent fps.

I don’t get that…cause that would mean it would take forever to level up. If the mechanics are set like that the higher level you are the less XP you get…..and it would mean that it does effect the character to fight with others as well…cause they get more since they might be a lower level and getting more off the kill.

It’s actually the opposite. You get more exp from the same mob the higher level you are.

Your opinion, which I share BTW, is the opposite of the sentiment that Anti was responding to. ilr was speculating about the ability to choose stats that exceed the available stat prefixes.

Not the impression I got from his post, but only he can clarify what he meant.

You can read a few posts up to see the rest of the conversation that I was responding to. Here’s a quote:

Hey all, no worries, we got you covered.

Weapons, armor and trinkets with magic find will become account bound, lose their current stats and will gain the ability to be double-clicked to select one of several stat options depending on the item.

For example, if you have an Explorer’s Pearl Staff, you can now double-click it to change it to any other crafting stat.

We will have a blog post about it with more extensive information as well, keep an eye on the website.

So wait… ….WAIT WAIT WAIT…. * urnfff…. think I just dropped a brick here *

On Explorer’s… MF is THE primary stat. Being able to change that stat, means picking whatever PRIMARY STAT on whatever Gear set you want. This is a potential level of PowerCreep that not even Zerker4Lyfe minmaxxers have asked for.

You won’t get to change the primary stat on its own, you’ll get to choose from the existing combinations. So for example on an Explorer’s Staff you don’t get to make it Condition Duration / Power / Precision (because that combination doesn’t exist), you have to choose from one of these:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explorer%27s#Triple_attribute

You’re not an official source. What the hell do you know about it?
Martin’s post seems pretty clear on this …. double click it, pick another Stat…

This is “new tech” and I’m gonna go ahead and bet all my Vicious Claws on it…
I wasn’t plannin’ on doing anything else with them.

Nope… this is just like everything else. No one knows the full details until it downloads.
If someone did know for sure, they’d also know what the new Functionality is too.

Nobody is going to give you stats that you can choose yourself. You’ll only choose the usual combinations.

Again people with ridiculous expectations. Then you are going to whine that they “said it was going to be any stats”.

I agreee This is a major design failure.

It’s not the only thing you can do in game, and for the most part it’s only temporary.

I think the devs have made clear that the Living Story will dabble in all kinds of content: dungeons, personal instances, zergs, ect. It’s good to give different players different things to do in the game.

Even though it’s not my thing personally, I’ll be glad zerging fun is there for players who want it occasionally.

I’m saying that in the context of the OP’s list.

They could have designed the boss fights so that his attacks are not obscured by a holocaust of particle effects, his AI would encourage more challenging and varied skill use instead of spamming ranged 1 skill (because even as a guardian I end up using my scepter) etc.

If it’s one keystroke per macro, there’s quite literally no point in a “macro” key on the keyboard. The only purpose for a key like that is to do more than one thing with one keystroke.

The point of that is to use combinations like “Ctrl + T” and “Shift +T” on one keystroke.
