There’s one to the east but I listed it specifically because there’s normally 5+ nodes there. One of those nodes also has a chance to be a rich one.
For rich node locations: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Iron_Ore_
Do both. EotM is fast and there’s benefits like fast leveling, fast karma. But doing maps has rewards too. You’ll eventually need WPs, traits, etc. And you’ll learn how to play the character. Unless you already have another of the same class, people that insta level or just followed a train are generally terrible for awhile cause they didn’t really play while leveling. Dont be that guy in your next dungeon group.
With new NPE, your character is basically useless and incomplete before you hit lv80.
There’s minimal customization (lock up trait and such) and minimal trait you can pick.
Basically with the new NPE, you understand very little about your class before you hit lv80. So I rather make it instant lv80 and start exploring the world with lv80 character and try out some trait combination.
Luckily they’ll be fixing the trait issue with the expansion. What they plan on doing and how well it will help players is all up in the air at the moment until they provide more details.
Of the two options you listed, EotM is quicker. If you plan to go for a legendary though, you may as well do world completion instead.
20% is the average for getting results from the next tier.

You have roughly 0.79% chance of getting a precursor when combining four exotics of the same type. Expect much less if doing rares.
You can always try to see if there’s a pattern but there really hasn’t been enough time yet to accurately determine if there is.

Orr is pretty easy as there’s like enough for the daily by the statue in Malchor’s.
They likely won’t since it’s an optional achievement worth 5 AP designed to give people something to do who choose to complete it. It’s a rarity that they adjust achievements but you can hope that they’ve seen this thread, understand your complaints, and perhaps design achievements that are slightly more latency friendly for those with slower computers and/or bad connections.

Is it any worse than helping a farmer who keeps livestock?
That’s what I was thinking. Apparently all farmers with livestock are sadists?
When I saw this thread, I assumed that the OP would be talking about that stealth renown heart in Blazeridge.

Rewards are based on the map level. Doing Queensdale with a level 80 will not give you better rewards than doing it with a level 15.
You technically do not own the account as it’s property of Anet. It is also not a grey area as there’s nothing ambiguous about each account being used by only one person.
Yes, it is against the rules.
Could you kindly show exactly where in the rules?
It was that thing every player had to accept upon playing the game.

Yes, it is against the rules.
Great reused skins in gw1 that were unlockable for free
You did have to semi-participate in the festival events in Shing Jea for some of them as I recall….not actually FREE (but yes, they did not cost any in-game or RL currency).
Also, if you wanted them for multiple characters, you had to do some serious token collecting (tho, you could AFK some of the games to do this). The GW2 method allows you to use it on all characters once obtained (for trans charges, yes).
It depends on your definition of participating. I just AFK’d on the map overnight and woke up with 3 of them in my inventory. I just checked the finale and you got the masks regardless as to how successful your district was with the dishes.
My guild regularly sponsored districts by making it a guild activity to go and collect all that was needed. You’re welcome.
Masks for festivals should remain festival rewards and not an armor piece that is sub-level 80 that I have to use a transmutation stone on and can’t even salvage ectos(like the gold ram backpiece) from because it’s too low a level. You guys took items that were rewards in one game and made them cash shop fair.
It’s really disheartening to not at least get these as rewards in game for completing content that you designed around it.
The extra rewards were largely due to how well your district did with the dishes. Luckily many districts were sponsored by guilds/alliances. However, receiving the mask was gauranteed by simply being on the map and was not dependent on the success of the dishes. One could be completely alone in a district, be AFK, and still get the mask.
I will agree though that I do miss those masks and such that we got for various events.

Considering that the silk topic has taken up an entire page and likely won’t stop, shouldn’t this discussion be brought into a new thread?
You need only one of each tier cultural for the emperor title. So even if you got the title, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have every armour weight cultural piece unlocked.
do you even know what are you talking about? http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fashion check again dood, I remember spending 600g+
That player is correct. You do not need to unlock every armor set; only one per tier. It even states so in the wiki article that you linked.
For example, buying tier three light and heavy armor will only count for six pieces on the achievement tracker. You just wasted 120 gold if you didn’t want that particular armor skin. You will not complete the achievement for that race until you buy six pieces of armor from tier two and six pieces from tier one.
Since you do not need every armor piece for the title, players will not get every armor piece just for having that title.

All of the legendary weapons except for one can be crafted and sold for a profit. Once you have enough gold to craft one, you can easily craft as many as you want as long as you have the karma and world completion badges.
What is your point?
My question is whether or not you think the achievement points for souldbind a legendary is fair.
I think the acheivement should be given for crafting them, no soulbinding them.
The point is that the achievement only costs someone the amount it would take to craft a single legendary. There’s nothing spectacular about someone who eventually accumulates around 2,000 gold, buys up all the materials, crafts a legendary, sells it for a profit, and then repeats the process over again 4 more times.
It should be for soulbinding.
Exactly what are you winning?
All of the legendary weapons except for one can be crafted and sold for a profit. Once you have enough gold to craft one, you can easily craft as many as you want as long as you have the karma and world completion badges.
I’ve crafted ~6 legendary weapons so far and waiting on a buy order for the precursor to fill for the 7th. I find it to be fairly straightforward to craft them as the formula is predictable and consistent. I’ve been playing since launch.
karma is basically gold
how do you buy karma?
You don’t but it can be converted into gold at a fairly consistent rate to be as if you earned the gold directly.
Oh. I assumed you got credit as long as you earned points on the previous side just like in PvP.
Auto balance has nothing to do with the reward or vice versa. Or did you want some sort of reward tied to each match whether you win or lose? The thing is that this reward would end up being like Wintersday gifts where the majority of it was junk. The match average between 3-5 minutes (less if you hop and get lucky) so imagine how many rewards someone can accumulate.
Perhaps they could do a reward track like in PvP which is tied specifically to the activity.
There was never a delay such as 3-4 seconds.
Cloth nodes are not needed as every enemy target in the game is a potential node for cloth & leather (as are the loot bags many of them drop). Now the fact that enemies all drop items leveled for current character level is an issue for the T2-T4 mats, but loot bags and the TP can solve that issue easily enough.
Since the exact same thing can be said for metal and wood, I ask you why there are ore and lumber nodes in the game.
Because metal and wood have a huge sink in crafting rare lvl 80 weapons for the forge.
Cloth and leather dont have that extra sink. You make a good point. Note to self. Stock up on metals and wood when Legendary crafting comes out the price may go up.
Expect a much larger increase in other materials than just those if we find out that the new legendary weapons follow the same crafting formula as the existing.
It’ll be more grindy than the luminescent collection. That collection is hardly grindy now with perhaps the exception of the two coat boxes.
From what I could tell, most of the answers of possible price dropping is based on the assumption of an increased supply. There are no indications that this will take place. The pricing statistics for the past 6 months show that Bolts of Damask are at their cheapest price due to high demand. Based on economic norms, it is more likely that they will increase in price. If it does drop, it will most likely be minimal. I would not chance it with those statistics. September 28th, 2014 was their highest price selling at 18 01 47. They have slowly decreased to as low as 13 29 01 on February 11th, 2015. More likely to start going back up soon.
Increased demand does not cause prices to fall.
I’d take a look at the components used to craft bolts of damask before making assumptions about damask bolts themselves.
Main problem though is, cant salvage rares with it.
Could you clarify the following statement in your post? You can salvage rares with the Copper Salvage-o-matic.
I think you either should have said that “you won’t salvage rares with it” or that “people shouldn’t salvage rares with it”.

Anet always says, there won’t be anymore grind in this game yet their actions always contradict them. Would it kill them to make a game with interesting content that doesn’t depend on endless grind to get achis and nice skins?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/No-grind-philosophy/page/4#post4733273
Saying that “well the game is optional” or anything along those lines is not a valid counter argument.
That was not my counter argument. It was an extension of their own logic to show how pointless saying that is. Everything about the game is optional by the very definition.
Are you even reading posts or just skimming everything to act smug?
Read the rest of my post.
They’re selling the spots in the group, not the dungeons.
The stats are based off which one you buy from the vendor.
All you need now is for Anet to add dyeable capes.
You’ll have another Dry Top.
Im not really angry about that achievement being difficult or grindy. Im angry about it going totally against gameplay and resulting in people camping spot or whole groups destroying games to get that achievement.
Why couldnt it have been 1k assisted kills (or even more)? Its STILL grindy and will take a while, but without it going against gameplay (as you are supposed to kill stuff, right? as in opposed to just interrupt stuff and camping one spawn point).
Or maybe 1k killshots (last hit).wow, seriously? 1 k killshots? just try to count that.. if there are 5 players, and each kill gives 20 points, and we give all players an equal amount of kills during the game (500).. that means you would get 5 kills per game…i think even the kick achievement is less grindy…
Better off just having it be straight kills. Getting 1K kills would maybe six hours or so but at least you’re doing something that benefits your team.
Breach hopping is one of the main reasons that this meta has still remained worth doing for many people. Take that away and you’ll likely see less people willing to do it.
Living Story = Story DLCs.
These story DLCs are given for free as a reward for all active GW2 players. Those who aren’t active have to pay for the story DLCs, through in-game gold or money. And what of new players? They’re just out of luck or have to play for a free to play game’s content? I don’t think the GW2 storyline developers and whatnot thought this through before making this decision. It’s unfair to new players and returning players alike.
They would have been out of luck if it were like season 1. At least now they have an option to experience those episodes. They can do it for free if they tag along with someone that does have access. The episodes are also relatively cheap if you buy with money or gold.
The fact that the episodes are cheap isn’t the point. It’s a free-to-play game and newcomers, along with returning players, are being made to pay-to-play if they want to keep up with the storylines. I, myself, missed season 1 (and can’t get it at all), but I got every episode of season 2.
But, perhaps they are better off because season 2 is turning out to not even be worth the effort, so certainly not the expense. Not if you enjoy playing solo, like I do.
It’s free to play for the existing game that they paid for. They’re not paying a subscription fee to play it. The living story is not part of this although active players who log in during its initial two week period get it for free.

I also should mention that you need very high, if not max, crafting level for most of the crafts to craft the back piece and item that consumes bloodstone dust.
All of these require you to farm events in the new maps. The first two require you to farm geodes to purchase recipes and clay bricks. Although I believe all of this can be bypassed if you buy everything from the TP. The armor will require a lot of grind as many people can attest to although it’s somewhat reduced now that you can get almost everything from the vendor with crests.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
If you like the back piece skin, want something to turn bloodstone dust to loot, and/or like luminescent armor then yes.
They’ve had at least one grindy achievement to keep people playing the activities. Normally it’s the completionists and AP hunters that keep playing.
Dragon Ball was invented because it’s been a while since the competitive AP hunters had deep self inflicted fingernail and teeth marks embedded in their arms.
It existed back in 2013 before AP mattered to many people. Rewards didn’t come out until a month or two later.
“The rewards in these envelopes are affected by account magic find.”
If it was character MF included then they would have not specified account magic find but just simply magic find.
I’ve already got 35/100 in a little under 70 games played. I think it’s nice that there are achievements that other people can’t complete.
So basically, over the next 2 weeks, players are supposed to put in 20 hours in Dragon Ball to get this? Or, want to play Dragon Ball for about 1.5 hrs per day, even? Considering how nausea and rage inducing Dragon Ball can be, I think that’s a bit much to ask for 5 AP.
It’s a skill-based achievement. Those that can properly time their usage of the skill will complete the achievement quicker than those that use it on players without much thought. The achievement isn’t required and there’s no meta achievement for this update.
Balderdash
There is no expert timing involved. The kick takes longer to cast than the basic auto attack so getting an interrupt to land is a total crapshoot. You can be in the right spot and hit kick at the right time, but if the enemy stops firing or moves, you go on 15 seconds timer.
Then there are Z axis issues with the kick not hitting if there is any kind of elevation difference.
A lot of us are complaining because we know some achiever types will game this one like keg brawl with their buddies even while it is out of reach for normal players. Already I’ve run into the guy who is using his Afk second account to make sure that his main character not only wins every time but also auto balances to the winning team.
This isn’t about designed grind. The health achieve is intuitive even if it is grindy.
Reward skill not cheating
Because you are unable to see and perform the proper timing doesn’t mean that it’s impossible.
Its ridiculously hard, and if you were to actually focus on it, with the 15s cd, on top of it being able to be dodged, 100 is way too much. Then if you die, you have to go find it again, and do it without dying. GL bahaha
Just because it’s not impossible doesn’t mean that its not ridiculously stupid either.
I haven’t had much issue. I got 10 the first night without focusing in it while doing the others, 40 the next night over a few hours, and 19 last night in a couple hours. It’s all about timing and predicting what your opponents attack pattern will be. It’ll obviously be easier to pull off on someone that spams auto attack compared to one that constantly changes their attack pattern while throwing in random dodges.
I was never arguing that it wasn’t a dumb achievement. I’ve felt that way about all of the grindy ones. Based on my experience with this one, I’ve seen much worse.
There are also tombs of knowledge which are quite useful.
Not sure if you wrote this on purpose or it was a mistype but I lol-ed real hard.
Neither. You must not have alts or you actually like the NPE.
Tombs of Knowledge or Tomes of Knowledge
If you have the karma and world completion already, it is cheaper to craft it yourself. The cost varies. i can tell you that every legendary weapon sells for well more than it’s actual cost.
There’s an opportunity cost associated if you’re starting from scratch in regards to karma and world completion. This is something I’ve seen many ignore when analyzing situation on what may be better such as skill point conversions. For some legendaries, it would have been more cost effective sell all of the materials, buy the legendary, and use the time that you would have spent farming karma and doing world completion by farming gold instead.
@Seera
I think you meant crystalline dust for gift of fortune. Incandescent is used for the legendary gifts (e.g. Gift of energy).

Assuming that the current Lunar New Year Festival is supposed to more or less correspond to the Dragon Bash, it falls way short. We have the Dragon Ball activity, a new Vendor, and a lightly decorated Queen’s Pavilion.
With Dragon Bash we had THIS! …
Dragon Bash was fantastic and should be an annual event. The food alone was worth My time. This event is a lousy replacement and I don’t Even bother with it.
Are you sure it’s a replacement? For some reason people got the idea that this event was Dragon Bash when it’s not. This is the first time that we have had this event in GW2. The only similarities that the current even has with Dragon Bash is the activity.
In GW1, we had the lunar festival which is what this event is. GW1’s version is superior still. GW1 also had the dragon festival which Dragon Bash is supposedly based off of. Also, the entire premise of Dragon Bash doesn’t fit with the one for this event.
