Rebooting mostly is a problem with an aged PSU that simply shuts down if it is not
able to deliver enough power when the PC is under heavy stress.

Ofc make sure first if automatic reboot on system errors is disabled, else its maybe
a bluescreen that you simply don’t see.

Well, I guess we are all entitled to our own opinion.

You can ofc also want mounts, raids, open pvp, duelz and whatever else, that however
doesn’t change the game and a lot of players simply play GW2 because it is exactly
not like all those EQ-Clones out there.

Full ascended, even with 0 infusions, is still more than a 10% increase in damage compared to full exotic.

But most of that is from weapons and jewlery. Armor gives by far the least damage,
it mostly gives you that +5% armor .. but we all know how much berserker players
care about armor.

And jewlery also is the only part that keeps that damage boost when downscaled
below level 80.

you’d get +5% weapondmg from the weapon (not +5% dmg as damage also scales with power)
you’d get +5% armorrating from the armor( not +5% armor as total armor also includes toughness)
from the complete ascended set you’ll get +5% stats, compared to the same sets stats, unbuffed values will not rise.

depending on the chosen statset this also means damage could be 1.05*1.05 higher for a total increase of 10.25%, it could also mean an armor value could be10% higher…
The loser here would be condition dmg as the maximum will only rise 5%no matter what due to the fact conditions only scale with condition dmg…

What especially does that change on the facts that armor gives by far the least
+damage ?
Out of that 10% armor does give around 2% if not even less.

Also the +5% weapondamage is only applied when playing on level 80, at 79 its
the same as exotic weapons. And 5% weapondamage is the same kitten damage
since both is multiplicative.

DSP covers console games as well and does full playthroughs but only of major titles. If you are looking for unidiotic game reviewers on Youtube, I would suggest both of them.

Perhaps many gamers nowadays are of PewPewDie’s demographics however ….

Even a “full playthrough” wouldn’t say much for MMOs since people always want
that miracle called “endless endgame”, even if most don’r really know what that
should be beside maybe an endless itemgrind.

In the end personal i think the game itself has not really so much to do with the
longtime fun you have with a game than the people you play it with.
If you play alone the fun is mostly gone after a playthrough , if i have fun in TS3
with my friends i can farm the whole day with no problems.

Image an MMO more like a virtual pub where you go to have fun with some friends
and play cards or darts or whatever. I soubt many people play darts and await it
to be “challenging” or that it changes every day and must be rebalanced or whatever.
Its just something you do while hanging around and have fun. Now if you play darts
alone for months … yeah than it could get maybe boring much faster.

Joe went from giving the game a 10 rating to not playing at all for 2 years. That speaks louder than anything that was said in the interview.

Joe did the interview because it was good for Joe. He was coridial and polite because the interview was good for him to get. He did ask a few good questions. This was not Angry Joe though. He held back a lot. This was a plug for Anet’s new expansion.

I’m sure there were tons more questions he would have liked to ask. I’d like to ask Joe some questions:

What broke the game for you?

What made the game go from a 10 rating to a 2 year absence?

I guess more that Joe in generall don’t really is the kind of guy that plays just
a single MMO for long time. He makes tests of other MMOs and even
single player games all the time, so i guess he really even has the time to
concentrate for longer on something like an MMO.

However thats just based on my own personal behaviour. If i play an MMO i
really only play that game, and nothing else.

A game should not try to discourage fun and make you an unpopular rebel for trying to have some, anyway.

Its not the game that trys to discourage .. it are the players .. or a part of them.
Those players that dont care about metas and how to do the fastest speedrun
mostly still have fun.
The players that find out how to run the fastest have maybe also their sort of
fun.
The problem are those that only blindly follow them, and often even don’t really
understand what they do .. and then try to force everybody else into what they
think is the only good way to play. Hey .. there are even players out there that

At 60 FPS your PC needs 16.6ms to spit out a frame. That is less than a 10th of a second so you can’t really feel any delay at 16ms. But there is definitely a delay, even if it is hard to gauge scientifically it is there. The higher the frame rate the better the response time. At sub 30 FPS your actions start to feel sluggish and at 15 fps you actually notice the input delay. Crazy right … all those spoiled brat gamers that kitten and moan about 60 fps.

If you have ever wondered why most pro gamers play at minimum 120Hz screen and why they are willing to sink 500-600$ on a screen that characteristically has nothing really better than your average 200$ 60Hz screen – that is the reason. Having higher frame rate gives you an advantage. Fact. Thus highly competitive games are frame limited.

I don’t care about those “pro gamers” .. and those pro-gamers surely would also
not play a game in the internet where the ping already invalidates everything
you wrote, if they really are soooo pro.

16.6ms for a frame .. fine .. but it needs maybe 20ms for the data of your opponent
to reach the sever, and another 20ms to arrive at your PC .. so that will bring down
your reaction time again to something like 25 fps.

Why Guild Wars 2 is the most 'Square' world

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Beldin.5498

Beldin.5498

Hmmm .. not that i really have a problem with th squares .. but this looks different.

On the other hand RIFT also had a “seamless” world, and not closed zones like we
have in GW2.

Guild Wars 2 isn’t trying to present a seamless world, though. The individual maps in GW2 should be thought of as separate but related paintings perhaps by different artists. Hell, watch how the moon changes from one map to the next…there’s simply no visual agreement there.

GW2 goes all-out for the painterly effect (just look at the edges of the screen) so why not a square canvas?

The zones in RIFT also had all their indivudual styles. Its more just a technical aspect
of the engine i think. I also wonder if it was related that i never really got much more
than 40-50 FPS in Rift.

  1. Playable is matter of preference and quite opinionated. Below 60 fps is unplayable to me and I’m doing a said game a favor if I still play it after it constantly tanks below that.

Besides, most of us will be happy with Dx11 upgrade too, if it is optimized well. I don’t care about water effects or ambient occlusion or blur or kitten like that. I want 60 frames per second. Like 99.99% of the computer games out there try to have.

Thats however you personal problem. Normally it is said that the human eye doesn’t
really notice a difference if its more than 25-30 fps.

Also i have over 60 FPS most of the time, as long as i’m not in heavy zergs. And i’m
still not really sure if its mainly the graphics renderer or has also more to do with
network traffic when for example the FPS at Svanir Shaman goes down to 18 as
soon as the fight begins, while i have 50-70 before.
If its really just the renderer then more options to disable effects should already
help a lot.

Wow, now people in WvW use tanky builds because of bad fps, and not because they are part of the melee and need to be able to eat most of the damage…

Hey .. if the next time a thread about “how to stop the zerker meta” pops up, we know
that the answer is : just make the engine even slower

Yeah .. Elementalist is one of the classes thats harder to master. It helps a lot if
you know how the game works if it is frustrating for you.

Easier starter classes are warrior, guardian, ranger and maybe necro.

Every class can gather everything, you only need to equip the proper harvesting tools.
And gather everything, it gives you experience and also ressources that you can sell
at the trading post or use for crafting.

Crafting here is also a little different since you can level your character with it. That
leeds to the fact that often stuff is sold in the Trading Post for less than what it
costs to produce it. So i would say crafting on the first character is not really a must
and often its better to start it with the second character.

Else one of the best crafting professions (imho) to start with is jeweller. Its not that
expensive, and you craft stuff that every profession needs.

Turbine uses a common engine for DDO and LOTRO. When the Dx10 update was done in Nov 2007, both games were still subscription based. Dx11 support was added in late 2010 but very, very little in terms of features (Dx11 based Ambient Occlusion even though it can be done without Dx11) and in LOTRO Dx11 dynamic water effects.

The HardOCP article on LOTRO Dx10 upgrade pointed out at the time a massive loss in performance from Dx9 to Dx10.

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2007/11/12/lord_rings_online_dx10_patch

“When we directly compare DirectX 9 performance and DirectX 10 performance on the same graph, using the most powerful gaming video card you can currently buy, the results are quite clear. In LOTRO, the GeForce 8800 Ultra is 55% slower when using the DX10 code, than it is when using only DX9 code. We have observed similar performance penalties in the past, but we are no less frustrated to see it here.”

Played Lotro before Rift was released, so at the end of 2010 into 2011 .. not sure
if i tested DX11 or DX10 .. but all i know is a switched back to DX9 after very
short time, since the performance was at least not better, and some effects
like water reflections looked even worse.

On the other hand, performance in Lotro was never a problem, i think mostly i had
far over 100 fps and often even 250 or whatever.

Just upscale all the zones to level 80+ by placing “hard mode” in slices of the megaserver. Players can join the hard mode server while in the zone of their choice. Scale the rewards appropriately and problem solved…

This would give the veterans a reason to return to these neglected zones. As it stands now, I only engage in PvE in sub-80 zones for dailies, world bosses, dungeons and literally nothing more. Such a shame that the beauty of these zones cannot be fully appreciated and enjoyed by the vets.

So .. use a zerg of 40 instead of 20 to kill them as fast as in normal, but get better loot .. yay ^^

Really ? Images are of course always rectangles, and if you unfold a planet to make

I think however what the OP means is that the border of the different zones
are also all rectangles .. so more like the Earth is a rectangle … but Italy is not really.

And also not by other longtime players that are not so “skilled” in your definition,
and of course not by any players that simply dislike instanced content, since ofc
in your definition only instanced content means “skilled”.

I would like an option to toggle legendary effect on/off when stowed. would work great with juggy effect, be shiny whenever you want :P and turn off if you don’t.

More options are always good.

For example Jormags Breath has its torch effect always on, and sometimes its simply
a little over the top.
On the other hand i love the fire aura from eternity and at the moment wish that
it was always on. However after i while maybe i wish i could turn it of again ^^

Endgame question: did GW2 find the answers?

I prefer Open World content to instanced content. For me, Season Two of the LS was lacking in comparison to Season One. It wasn’t nearly as much fun, nor did it have anywhere near the amount of replayability.

I hope Heart of Thorns brings better replayability (and enjoyment) without resorting to so much instanced content. Or…that the instanced content is fun more than just once.

Yay .. finally someone else who thinks so.

Personally i haven’t even gotten 1 single AP from those instances, and i think i
spent 20+ times more time in LS1 content than in LS2.

I think ANet simply hasn’t realized that all those people that cry for “harder” content
don’t really want that in story instances where they have to kite a mob 10 minutes
in circles just to get nothing at the end (for the second+ time), but that they want
mainly better loot.

I often also thought that maybe i’m the only one who doesn’t really like that stuff
but i see so many people in my guild that haven’t even touched that stuff till know
while in LS1 mostly everyone was always there where the action was.

Endgame question: did GW2 find the answers?

If you’re defining endgame as a radically different style of gameplay once X point is reached, then GW2 either has all endgame (in that everything opens to you once you exit the newbie instance), or no endgame (in that level 80 doesn’t unlock a new style of gameplay).

If the question is then, should Guild Wars 2 have a point where the gameplay becomes radically different than what it was before that point, I say no, it shouldn’t.

If the question is simply should there be more Things, the answer is obviously yes there should be more Things, and this thread could’ve just stated that instead of this entire thing about philosophy and endgame.

The question however often is that there should be less things. At the moment you
are not forced to play specific content to earn gold, and with gold you can buy most
of the skins.

Now what a lot of those “endgame” folks want however is to have less option, that
for example you only get the cool skins in Fractal 50s.

Are you using the streaming Client ?

At least the thread starter seems to use it :

Got a DC, then a crash

Some questions :
- Have you installed into the “programs” folder ? If so move installation to somewhere
else like for example “c:\games\gw2”
- do you run GW2 as administrator ? If not try it.
- do you use another firewall than the windows firewall ? If so deinstall it and try with
windows firefall.

More information about your hard and software of course would help.

You usually get it right away.

At least if you use a credit-card. Got mine directly on the website after ordering
and it was also preset in the register form.

However paypal works different and i think they need to check more things there
and it could take time if paypal is slow.

Ty for all your answers. So playing with 2 acconts in windowed modus on the same PC is not possibol with this game when you have the 2 installations installed to different folders, thats wired

I run 2 different accounts in windowed mode in the way i explained above.

The only complicated part is to kill the “AN-Mutex-Window-Guild Wars 2”
each time, after you created the second windows user and the batch file.
