It also happened to me, then I tried again, we failed and I got the achieve.
It was probably a bug.

As Nike said, to what stat you would change to?
Yes a full zerker set will get about 10% less crit damage, do you know any other set that would cause more damage than the next zerker?
Also, crit damage will be changed to ferocity, Magic Find was completely removed, those are 2 totally different situations, so why would Anet allow you to pick a new stat if zerker will keep working the same way?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
No other class have an AoE precision buff and those 7% crit chance is very useful, it will stack with fury and banners.
Axe #4 will be annoying and make the party run after the mobs if are using it wrong, if the mob is already in the fight then you need to cast Path of Scar at melee range, that way you’ll interrupt the target but it won’t move from the spot, and if the target isn’t in combat then you are bringing it closer to your party.

http://dulfy.net/ will probably have the animation soon enough.
She usually is the 1st person to post the new skins/finishers and all that stuff on the internet.

The charzooka is probably a bug, but the CD was post in the notes.
Yeah, I think they used the performance only as excuse, who knows?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
They never said that the balance would be in THIS patch.
On this patch they only made bug fixes in the skills, among the next 3 patches we’ll have the balance one.

The fall damage reduction traits are very useful in WvW when are chasing/fleeing from a fight and even jumping from the wall into an attacking zerg can be part of some builds.
The downed damage one I’ve seem in a few PvP builds but it isn’t really that effective, I wouldn’t recommend it at all.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Do you mean those pet whistles you can buy from Ogres?
Yes, that is the ones they meant.
Some of those items could be spammed in some bosses and dungeons and now those items will have a CD.
EDIT:
quoting the post:
“To mitigate performance issues, items that summon pets now have a 30-minute cooldown.”
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
My ranger for example use 20/20/20/10/0 build and I’m very happy with it, it is an Open World/Dungeon PvE build but can handle fine in WvW.
Eles have many good Master traits, so a build that doesn’t use grandmaster traits is totally possible.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
No need for reseting at all, you’ll be able to enjoy 100% of the changes with your current toon.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Never counts.
Besides Bell Choir that is a temporary activity, only the ones that rotate in the activity NPCs (the crossed flag icon near the Lion’s Plaza and the TP) are the ones that count to that daily.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Razer Naga doesn’t have multiple profiles?
Even my kinda cheap CM Storm Inferno have at least 4 profiles, I think it had more but I only use 4.
But I agree, key bind by character instead of account would be nice.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Unfortunately Cogs have no use anymore, if you have over 250 you can make the minis, but lower than that it will be useless.
The frames you can use to make everlasting tonics, kinda expensive and involve a bit of RNG.
Both recipes you can find on wiki
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
- 20 points into Marksmanship you can get Spotter, it gives 150 precision to the party.
- Even w/o traits frost spirit is useful in dungeons, but get about 10 points into Nature Magic and get the trait that rise the proc chance of spirits.
- Warhorn skill 5# gives might, fury and swiftness to the party and is a blast finisher.
- RoA elite + warhorn #4 will make your pet get 25 stacks of might really fast, also gives more fury and stability, all important buffs in dungeons.
- Axe off hand #4 is one of the rangers strongest skill and can pull enemies.
- Axe #5 is a good AoE, cause vulnerability and retaliation, amazing in many dungeon bosses.
- Sword is the highest DPS weapon for rangers and offer many dodges, improving your survivability w/o lowering your DPS.
- Healing spring is the longest water field of the game, cure condition and gives regen per pulse for everyone in the area.
- Pets, drakes have high power and HP, those are good against structures and some world bosses (where you can’t crit), birds and cats crit a lot making their DPS high and with the RoA + WH#4 combo their damage get higher than you can imagine.
- Occasionally brown bear to clean conds and red moa for AoE fury may be useful in places with heavy AoE damage and pets will die anyway.
Resuming, I would go with a build like s/wh + s/axe, traits 30/30/0/10/0, skill SH + Frost Spirit + anything + anything + RoA for maximum damage and helpful for the party.
You can make small changes for your liking, like I personally use axe instead of sword for added range and helps spread fire sigil on mobs and the 10% more crit damage from honed axes, axe #2 at melee range cause a good damage and axe #3 chill + weakness is also helpful for the party, the build I run isn’t 100% effective but is much more versatile.

(edited by Belzebu.3912)
They will reduce the effectiveness of increased crit damage you can get, the default 50% crit damage will keep the same.
Pets will only be affected if you have points in BM, and even so it will be barely noticeable since the points you get from BM isn’t that high.
The only doubt I have is about Honed Axes, currently it gives 10% crit damage, after the update it will give an amount of Ferocity enough for 10% crit damage or they will give 150 Ferocity like all stat trait or maybe another thing … who knows?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
That is the weird part, Belcher’s Bluff is in the activity list but doesn’t count while Bell Choir isn’t in the list but counts towards activity daily.
BTW if you do Bell Choir today (Jan 21st) it will counts towards 2 dailies, activity and the wintersday daily.

Still in favor. It’s totally pathetic that you can’t get a new race on your character because of the lame story nobody cares about.
I really care about the story and that is the reason I have 2 of each race, so don’t make assumptions, I didn’t make 3 of each race because I finished the PS up to lvl 20 with every race during betas.
@OP
Maybe Anet can make a race change in the future, but that is a very complicated thing to do, gender change only change the look of the armor, race change involves so many things in the game that makes it nearly impossible, the solutions you gave cover most of the problems, but we don’t know if Anet can track all those things for the changes.

The Southsun cove map happened that way, there was a huge event and the map got open.
Hopefully this year more maps will be added, so much potential they have on their hands and so little was made.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Will keep the same.
Right now, use 2x 1handers have the same power than 1 2hander BUT with the benefit of 2 sigils, next update that advantage of the 1hander will be fixed.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I expect nothing from it, most likely we’ll get those mentioned nerfs, the trap fields, maybe a debatable buff in a weird place, like Harpoon #3 now apply might to your pet instead of fury or something along this lines.
Ranger will still be my main, but have a while that I just hope for no big nerfs, small nerfs and little changes to skills is good enough for me nowadays, true buff is ask too much apparently.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
You actually get 1% more crit damage on the legs part in a zerker set.
But stat-wise I don’t think it is worthy, I crafted one because I didn’t have anything else to spend gold and I wanted to get a goal, so yeah.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
1. They are changing crit damage, so yes it looks highly likely that it is getting a nerf.
Zerker isn’t the only set with crit damage, I’m still curious to see what will happen.
2. Those other builds are not useless. They are just not optimal for the dungeon speed run meta. Come any zerk nerf, a new optimal meta will be found and the same amount of people will be outside of said meta.
Yeah, useless was a strong word of my part, but in PvE there is absolutely no incentive to go anything else but zerker.
3. Zerk isn’t the ultimate set on all occasions, you will find condi/bunker meta dominates two out of three pillars of the game as well as being viable in the non competitive, non zero sum environment which is pve. I hope the people moaning about zerk are also advocating a condi/bunker nerf as well, otherwise they would be total and utter hypocrites.
I should have expressed better, I meant in PvE, in sPvP cond is much more powerful and in WvW run full zerker is almost suicide.
4. Quite a large proportion of those taking part in pve run non pure zerk/glass builds.
I agree, but people that are complaining I’m pretty sure that most are pure zerk
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Another one of this topics …
Well, zerker gear aren’t getting nerfed, Anet is working to make the other sets not useless in PvE and obviously zerker won’t be the ultimate set in all occasions.
If you build yourself with the glassiest setup and expect to survive everything the game throw at you, then you’ll have a bad time.
EDIT: I crafted an ascended zerker set last week, and I can’t wait to see what Anet will do about it.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I was always weird with my ranger builds, even in GW1 my main weapon sets was spear/shield or axe/shield, I only used bows in the beginning and changed for those setups for the elite areas, finally here in GW2 I’m running axe/axe + axe/wh with zerk+valk gear.
Obviously I’m an exception but I can see that most players that made a ranger wanted to be the ultimate archer in game and don’t find it here, I used to run SB before the range nerf, hopefully bows will be more appealing in the future updates.
BTW, Burnfall’s posts are all really cool to read
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
In my guild, I think 40% are from SE area, mainly Singapore and Malaysia, we play on Henge of Denravi and no one complains that the game is empty when they play.
Ping isn’t an issue, only if you are trying to play tPvP in professional competitive way, otherwise having ping of 20ms or 200ms is barely noticeable at most.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Hall of Monuments is only for GW1 players and fill it isn’t fast, took me 1 year to get 45/50.
Do the PvP dailies along with PvE dailies, those are easier than you imagine and also try to do it every day.
Try to reach to at least 500 kills to each slayer achievement and using different weapons to get the weapon master APs at same time, tip: killing white mobs counts towards weapons mastery
The thing is, players that have high APs are the ones that do dailies every day for a long time, and the players that are in the leaderboard do at least every single daily possible everyday, so it takes a long time, no matter or what.
I have 11.6k AP and since laurels was introduced I only missed 1 day w/o completing a daily and I never missed a monthly since the game launch, but I don’t do all the dailies every day.

I see people stating that the game is CPU bound/limited all the time and this somewhat mystifies me. My system is running an Intel 3770K (not overclocked), 32 GB of memory, and an Nvidia Triton graphics card. I have a 30" display running at 2560×1600 resolution. I also run max settings on everything. Yet when I run the task manager in performance mode (on a 2nd display) it doesn’t indicate anywhere neer 100% cpu utilization. Indeed, it’s more like 30% on four of its logical cpus (threads).
When in Lion’s Arch I usually get in the neighborhood of 30 fps. Not great, but acceptable.
It is not that GW2 makes your CPU loaded all the time, the thing is that GW2 have a higher cap for CPU and a much lower cap for GPU for its performance .
In other words, a SLI system with 3 high end video cards is very likely to give the same result as a single high end video card, but if he get a better CPU power/clock (by a new one or overclocking) he’ll get visible improvements in most of the cases.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yeah, GW2 is more CPU heavy than GPU.
An overclocked CPU would rise much more the performance than adding an extra GPU to your SLI/Xfire system, not even using multi processor MoBo would help much since GW2 doesn’t handle well multiple cores, that is why AMD CPUs doesn’t work nicely here.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I would like to see a printscreen for that.
A TP player that barely play PvP that have an average of 2 deaths a hour?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Silk drops A LOT, it is very common, that is why before the ascended armor update NPC would pay more for silk scrap than on TP.
As Wanze said, supply and demand equilibrium will be reach soon enough.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
1 – Mounts seems just a bad idea, I strongly believe they can add, they just don’t want.
2 – Craft precursor is also very doable, the problem is the balance of the requirements, that takes time.
3 – Guild Hall/Housing is being discussed on the CDI topic, that is totally possible but again it is a matter of do it well instead of do it fast.
1 – Probably yes
2 – I never noticed that … so I dunno
3 – They don’t want, the devs stated that the ranger is the “pet class” in GW2, and they want the pet to be a permanent part of the ranger mechanic.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I kinda disagree … we do need to be happy with all this updates and in theory any update is just a “bonus”, but we need to make critics and point where the game can do better to improve the game for us and future players, we all want the best from the money we spend, right?
I think the problem are the people that just complain and have no idea why, look at the CDI topic, that is perfect example of people pointing what is wrong and what can be improved the right way.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Actually not at all, a class change would be way more doable than race change.
In a race change would need to reset the personal story of the player since many choices and info would be different and not even possible with other race, personal story choices also affect the home instance and some options would not be compatible or even possible.
With that being said, how your personal story could be reset, If you got a reward for example and sold/salvaged it already? How they would keep track of what you did if it will be reset?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
There are trapper/cond builds that run on rabid armor, that is a great build for WvW roaming.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
In my guild (Charter Vanguard in HoD) there are several girls/woman playing, including the co-leader Talia.
BTW, if there are any brazilian girl reading this forum, send me a PM ;D

Yeah, the silver doubloon are in the “drop table” only in the lvl 20~30 range.
@hades, you could edit the topic instead of post multiple times, anyway it is called forum filter, the admins make a list of words that will get censured and replaced by other, on this forum some words are changed to “kitten”
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Or just maybe make the pets react immediately after they get swapped instead of idling around for few seconds…
You really think the pets are idle after swap because the devs want it? They get idle because the time the server take to check the state of the new pet, the target and start the AI, it takes a few seconds.
A new animation would only make the pet swap and then attack even longer, making pets even worse than they already are.
In a perfect situation those animations would be awesome, but the way the game works it would be terrible.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I would make your engineer or guardian lvl 80 first, then the necro and after that the thief and lastly the ele, if you have an extra slot make a mesmer lvl 80 before the thief.
That is my opinion from class I liked the most to liked least to level.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
If you are into that, then this is a good ranger combo:
Lay a fire field (from torch #5 or flame trap) then switch to warhorn and also switch to a drake pet, the drake will use the tail sweep (blast finisher) that will give might to you and itself, and you also use warhorn #5 (also blast finisher) giving even more might for both of you (from the skill itself and the combo), if you have sword on main hand you can do the combo mentioned above too.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
You can salvage those PvP skins and get lucky essences or even materials that can be used to create unidentified dyes, both useful in PvE.
In the worst case scenario you can wear those skins and look better at events that switch you to PvP skin, like Keg Brawl, Crab toss and etc …
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yup, the limit is pretty crazy, there are accounts with about 40 slots that I know and a few guild mates of mine have 12~15 slots and I have 9 slots.
EDIT: the limit is 64 slots http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Character_Slot_Expansion
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
The max is about 60 slots, I think it is even more.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Norn transformation is something that may be turned “off” somehow, when Jora and her brother Svanir got close to the possible Jormag ex-champion in Drakkar Lake in GW1 and was cursed, Jora lost the ability to transform into the Bear form.
Jormag seem to have a lot more connection/awareness of the spirit world than some of the other dragons. It’s not all that surprising one of its champions could tamper with a Norn’s ties to that realm.
Yes, that shows that the norn transformation isn’t totally a biological feature, but also something in the spiritual level.
I can’t wait to see Jormag in game.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
At medium yes, at high I really doubt, and that will also depend on the CPU, can you post a more detailed spec of the PC you want to buy?
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
For start I would suggest reading the ranger sub-forum for better guides and builds.
For leveling spec for power/precision and use pretty much any weapon you like the best, and get a tankier pet and a DPS pet combo, like drake/feline or bear/bird for example to help in the combats, at later levels you’ll have a better idea of what your play style may be and search for a more specific build.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Scholar Rune for sure, it isn’t hard at all to keep your HP above 90%, also I’m assuming it is for PvE.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yes, what fadeaway said is true, another problem in PvE is that most bosses/areas are all or nothing, it is too easy so defense is useless or it is so hard that makes defense also useless since you’ll get 1hit anyway.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
What makes you think that those skill was made to be just gap closers?
GW2 is a skill based game, if your opponent is trying to escape I’m sure you’ll also have skills to pursuit the opponent countering those skills, immobs, cripple, stun, chill, daze are all there for that.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
