I think the issue is that evasion is way too good in GW2, it allow the glassiest build avoid a damage completely. So why should a player build for survivability if with a click I can ignore the damage and killing the mob faster = less damage taken?
Something should be done in PvE to rise the attrition against players, that way if you want to build for max damage you’ll be sure that death will be always very close to you.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yeah, you need to be more specific.
Condition in PvP is very strong, condition in PvE is very weak, condition in WvW depends, if you are in small fights/roaming it is strong, in zergs it is weak …
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
The thing in balance in PvE is not that a class have issues against the mobs, the problem is that some classes is much more powerful than others and have an easier time in PvE.
Talking as a ranger I watched many nerfs across PvE, PvP and WvW that was balanced only by PvP, for example pets damage reduction, in PvP it made sense, but in PvE and WvW it was ridiculous, later they gave pets HP buff only in PvE but not in PvP and WvW, in PvP it is ok but in WvW was the only place where pets actually needed the HP buff.
Resuming, some balances should be different in PvP, PvE and WvW.

Don’t forget an ele can pop tornado and effectively double the damage as well.
Wiki is down, but I believe Lava Font is better damage as well if you want to compare it to a less random AE.
Yeah, I saw a topic in the ele forum showing 13k~15k MS damage in WvW using the tornado trick.
I also think that MS should be more powerful than Barrage, but not by this much.

Fall Damage traits are fine.
They are hardly game breaking, and can be extremely useful.
As mentioned, they find the majority of their usefulness in WvW, but can be useful in other areas of the game. Nobody like to die to a miscalculated fall. As far as their secondary effects, they most certainly have a place for creative players.
If you don’t like them don’t use them.Problem is they take us a limited Trait slot that could be used for something more useful all around.
Something like this should be a buff thats unique fall bonus for classes.
Not a limited trait in a limited trait pool system.
You are not a ranger for sure, we have so many useless traits that the fall damage ones looks actually good in comparison, haha
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Chantry of Secrets is the most common to miss, and also the PoI in Claw Island, you only access that area during your personal story, the 1st time you go there is at lvl 40 iirc.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Fall Damage trait in WvW is fantastic, almost mandatory.
It is also useful in many JPs, those traits are far from useless, they are only specific traits.

That is a warrior mechanic, burst skills are the ones you spend adrenaline to use , the F1 skill each warrior weapon have.
EDIT: check this: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Burst

You can always go to the PvP area and test a class, there your toon will be lvl 80 with everything unlocked and every weapon available, and you can go there as soon as your tutorial mission ends, it takes like 3 minutes.
Thief is fun to play, perfect example of glass cannon and the gameplay feels very acrobatic, I’m enjoying leveling my thief.

Welcome to GW2 community
Check the Thief sub-forum for more details about builds and guides.

“Quiver of a Thousand Arrows” is the offensive one and “There with Yakkington: A Traveler’s Tale” is the defensive one.
The thing is because of a change of game mechanic, those 2 back items allow you to pick any stat once.
Those items used to have magic find as stats and that was removed from the game, but the recipe is still the same, so after you create them you can pick a new stat to replace the old magic find one.

That one is an easy one, there are more ways to skin a cow.
You can /bow to one, sit with one and a couple of other ways, you don’t even need insects.
O.O I didn’t know that … awesome, thousands of hours and still learning haha
Knowing that, there isn’t any hard/tedious heart quest I can remember, the bunny one in wayfarer can get a bit annoying if many players are there, but that rarely happens nowadays.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I really like this one, I made with 4 toons, it is only hard the 1st time, after you get exactly what you need to do then it gets much more enjoyable.
The worst heart imo, is the one where you need to get insects in a jar then feed the bulls under a timer, it is tedious and if you pick the smallest timer it turns to be incredible hard.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I learned to expect nothing and usually we get nothing from the patches, so most of the times my expectations are fulfilled
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Tittle like this probably won’t call the attention of the right people (I mean the devs) but still …
In my opinion, they could have read your opinion, but the solution may be hard to implement with their game engine and the niche of people the solution would attend is small, making this a low priority upgrade to the game.
I know it would bring you a quality of life that you probably deserve, but realistic there aren’t many players with the same need as you.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yeah, no need to be very dark or realistic dark, just darker than the current one, just enough to people easy tell if it is night or day, currently it makes almost no difference.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
It is said if the tooth is ever destroyed all norn will march on Jormag. Making the first Norn army ever….
Lore-wise a Norn army would be the most devastating thing that ever happened in Tyria, including awakening of elder dragons
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I don’t think there are any animations that ‘slow down’ your character while falling, so they’d have to code for that.
Oh, I wasn’t thinking about that part, I was imagining just fall at normal speed, the “parachute” would only make you not die. The slow down I agree, they would need to code that, there is nothing similar to that in the current game.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yes ele is kinda good at solo PvE, but it isn’t easy at all to play and isn’t good at early levels, I don’t recommend as first class
Warrior and Ranger are great at solo PvE from beginning to end and are easy to play, those are my suggestions for a easy mode solo PvE.
Guardian is easy to solo because they have many self survivability skills, but is kinda weak imo, and if you build for damage the survivability changes a lot, the great thing about guardians is the support.
Necro is a medium one imo, minion master and power/well builds are really good solo in PvE, but still not as good as the previous ones I mentioned.
Eng and Mesmer only get good at higher levels, so I don’t really recommend them, mesmer in special I had a bit of trouble to reach lvl 60.
Thief I can’t say much since mine is only lvl 30, the other classes I mentioned are all lvl 80.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
…and creation of parts that may cause bugs in other areas, making it way more hard to implement.
And considered we’re still plagued by bugs, I’d say this is a huge driving point.
I know right?
And yeah, new races, classes, weapon expansion all that, if happen, will take a good while, can’t imagine any of that anytime soon.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Totally agree, the night time in Tyria is way too bright.
About WvW, that could be used as part of the strategy, since it would be night for everyone, so you can’t say it is an advantage or not, if a particular player don’t like it, well too bad, wait a few minutes and fight during the day.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I think a new class is very unlikely to happen, you can bet in new race before a new class, actually the more likely now is the unlock of weapons for the current classes.
@CaptainVanguard, a new race would only require character modeling, animation and voice work, all that are objective and only need hours of coding.
A new class involve skill balance, and new mechanics and NPCs to support that class, all that involve subjective numbers and study and creation of parts that may cause bugs in other areas, making it way more hard to implement.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I like the idea but working in a different way.
Instead of titles make it different name colors, for example, when you see a guild member it appear as an orange name for you, but the same player appear with other color to people outside your guild, so why not make guild leader and officers appear in a different color for the guild members, it would make guild events easier and wouldn’t make any difference for people outside the guild also wouldn’t allow any exploit of making self guild just to get the title making the whole feature useless.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Whoa folks, calm down with it being a problem thing lol. It’s too early to be so negative.
I think the people are more intrigued than angry, I think the reason you showed us about your leaving seems, to most of us, a bit shallow, so we are trying to understand your reasons, at least that is my point of view.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
You can farm gold and buy a legendary, it has the same stats of an ascended with the option of pick the stats and involves 0 crafting (ascended weapon problem solved)
Now about the armor, you’ll have to wait to check new ways of acquire it.
But I agree with Stark, if you quit the game because you can’t have the best armor of the game w/o craft or luck, well … it is your problem.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Skill points no, but you get those easily in huge amounts soon enough, so don’t worry about that.
Traits can be reset talking with the same NPC that sell the book that unlock the traits, it cost a small fee (at lvl 80 it is about 3s).
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Ascended weapons have a chance to be dropped from champion bags, I got an ascended rabbid weapon from a bag dropped in WvW.
Ascended trinkets you can get in fractals, laurels, guild commendation, you can get full sets easily.
Ascended armors so far is only by craft, but Anet is looking into other ways of obtain that, obviously it won’t be as easy as your idea of guaranteed from dungeon boss.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
During the personal story you won’t be able to break it, it isn’t even tried.
In the lore it is said that when someone break it then the time to kill Jormag arrived.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
- Balanced the ranger class (plz make ranger pets remember their namesas well!).
- Given the pets more HP.
- Improved many of the rangers skills in different ways.
- Added at least one new pet (hope there will be more to come)
- Fixed countless of bugs (still more left and that u know)
Those are the only ranger related ones, and some of those I didn’t remove because they are so generic that end including rangers …
Oh well … positive posts are always positive , it is a good initiative.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I doubt the game engine would be able to support that.
It could work exactly like diving goggles, but turning you invulnerable in a radius around the vista, that seems totally doable by the current engine.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
In that case it is a bit hard to compare, we are not only looking at soldier vs zerker, but 2 builds, one using soldier armor with offensive runes and other zerker with apparently a kinda of defensive runes.
Looking at the numbers you provided the soldier build looks better since you lose a really small amount of damage (-45 power, -7% crit and -4% crit damage) but you gain a really nice defense (2240 HP, 224 armor).
I can’t tell exactly how much DPS you’ll lose going soldier, but I guarantee that it will be barely noticeable, but the survivability will be noticeable for sure.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I’m going for zerker ascended set, and that is my recommendation, on my ranger (got helmet, boots and legs so far).
I don’t like fractals, I’m doing this because, well … why not? I can afford that and I like my ranger in PvE, it is my main, so why not aim for the best armor in game?
I’m running zerker amor + zerker/valk trinkets and weapons, I have max power/crit damage, 80% crit with fury (good enough for me) and ok HP for my WvW adventures, I’m totally satisfied with my current build.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I may be wrong, but I recall a jail in Wayfarer Foothills just south-east of the Hero’s Moot Waypoint in Borealis Forest. I recall killing a SoS inside a jail cell there by shooting at him through the bars. He respawned a while after.
I don’t think it is a jail, but just a cage at best.

This weekend I was walking to some places for the sake of it, then I entered the The Dead End in DR and I just found out that there is a new dialog among Rox, Braham, Marjory and Kasmeer and a quite enjoyable one.
thanks for reminding me… is that still there? i wanted to check the new quips out
I believe it will be there until the next LS update.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
In that aspect I kinda agree, Anet made made mistakes on how to present the lore/story to players.
Many great stories of the GW2 events was only posted in their website instead of show it in game somehow, the almost exclusive use of mail to alert the players to new events/LS is also pretty lazy, among other fails. Hopefully they learned with the last year and the next “season” of LS will be much better.

I can agree that the GW2 storytelling could be much better, the potential is immense, but the current story is far from bad or non existent as you claim.

snip
I’m in a similar boat.
1800 hours since day 1 of the game, almost 12k AP, 6 lvl 80’s, every LS done, all JPs done, rank 80 in WvW, I kill world bosses daily (not all bosses though), and a total of 0 precursors, but at least I got a rabbid ascended weapon box from WvW.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
If you are like other guy that posted a similar topic then you can farm QD champion train until you get all the gear you want, buy a legendary, then move to the next game.
The best reason to go to a new map is because you were never there, go there and see it, if you don’t want to complete all the maps in a 2nd toon I can totally understand, but do it at least the 1st time just for the sake of exploring.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
“lol bear you be pet pl0x”
HAHAHA win.
One of the best posts on ranger forum.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
I like a bit of healing power in my trapper builds, but Dire works for sure, better than Carrion imo.
When I used to run a trapper build my set was a mix of Shaman and Settler to get cond damage, healing power and a mix of vit/tou.
I think axe is a superior cond weapon than shortbow, splitblade’s bleeding and the chill+weakness from axe 3# also the possibility to use an OH dagger or warhorn all makes it even better.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yeah, Norns choose/earn their surname and they can even change later, like Asgeir Dragonrender, the “dragonrender” is reference to his fight against Jormag and the blow that took its tooth off, obviously he didn’t get that surname as a child.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Check the mesmer sub forum, you’ll find a lot of builds and guides.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Yeah, it doesn’t interact at all with the game, it just stay over any window you have open, that is why you need to play in window-mode for that to work.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Believe me, craft precursor won’t be easy at all.
What Anet wants to make not a cheap/easy way to get a precursor, they want a way of get it not reliant on RNG, but be sure it won’t be easy.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Maybe you were dazed, if other player use skill #1 or #2 on you, even if you don’t have the keg, you won’t be able to land any skill.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Leftpaw skin into a white GS→ send GS to new toon → use Splitter in the GS on new toon.
And it still didn’t work?

I went for Frostfang, and I’m the happiest ranger you can imagine.
Actually, I even think in make a 2nd Frostfang and use it in both hands, imagine how awesome it would be?

Watch out Jon peters see this video and argue how powerful ranger is and then nerf your signet + bear form !
I hope that they don’t change things like they did with Norn mesmers.
With the trait where you make a clone on dodge + bear form … well you can get the picture of what used to happen, right?

Ranger’s serpent strike is really nice.
