Fix the exploits in Fractals

Something about a Rev and Molten Boss. I’m sure you know it.
Something about a Mossman and a geometry / pathing bug. I’m sure you know it.

I’m sure this post is within the rules as these are vague enough to not allow people to perform these. Also, I don’t know how Revs do that thing they do. I never asked, but I should so I could submit a proper bug report.

I absolutely agree. Not sure why a forum post is required, I’m quite sure Arenanet are aware of the state of their game content, especially one which is supposed to be endgame.

Do I agree that these issues need primary addressing? No.

What needs addressing is:

- fractal reward structures and design (the mentioned exploits exist since people can rerun certain fractals for maximum reward in minmum time. Fixing these exploits will lead players to find the next fastest fractal that can be run/exploited

- new fractals! It’s about time

- enemy AI

On a different note, going through your posting history (the first 10 posts where enough) you seem the kind of person who likes to tell people how to play their game. Maybe focus more on maximising your own enjoyment instead of telling others how to enjoy GW2. The mentioned fractal exploits can easily be avoided with a group of friends.

Has a purpose, yes. Is it worth doing? no.

Subjective opinion.

Is it the most cost efficient method? Currently no, true.

I’m glad people enjoy doing it, I was hoping for it to be more than what it was.
I wont partake in it because I don’t want to waste time/gold.

Great, how good that it’s not mandatory (for the old precursors). The new ones you
won’t get around using the crafting system.

When the economy is already screwy, I’d rather not waste where I can save.

Yes, the economy is very jumpy at the moment. Dear god, what will we do if prices ever drop. Good advice on being careful though. Deflation is already hitting some of the high value items. Most legendarys are on downward trends value wise.

If it were to be the alternative method, it should be the cheaper method. Why consider an option that costs more gold and time than just selling the mats and buying it outright and still have gold to pocket? I was considering this method because of the random chance of getting the precursor through chests and such, but when you compare the gold cost to craft the item as opposed to just buying outright, you’re losing a lot of gold, and wasting a lot of time. It’s hardly an alternative method.

I can’t lose any gold if I don’t buy most of the mats off of the trading post. I’m only wasting time if I end up not finishing the collection.

You are losing gold when you don’t buy the mats, because if you were to sell the mats, you’d end up with more gold than the precursor is even worth. Why farm and waste the mats crafting something, when you could sell the mats get more gold, and buy the precursor with gold left-over?
As it stands with the prices now, it’s more cost-efficient to farm the mats and sell them, buy the precursor than it is to craft the precursor. Maybe in time it will be reversed, but as we are now, it’s a waste of time.

Its not Anets fault, its the players fault who sell their precursors on the tp for so cheap and pay so much gold to circumvent the daily timegate on asc mats.

This.

I’m to tired of these threads to go into the details of how demand for ascendede crafting materials, etc.etc., spikes in prices etc.etc., people undercutting each other to stupid degrees, etc.etc. might affect prices of precursor crafting.

Let’s leave it at: the precursor crafting mechanic provides a needed service to the game.

If you don’t feel like using it, then don’t. No one is forcing you to.

I wont be using it as it is a useless service to the game. Even though it provides another way of acquiring a precursor, in the current economy of the game, it’s irrelevant. We all have our opinions and that’s fine, but regardless, facts are facts, and if you’re thinking logically, it’s pointless.
-But be my guest, go craft your precursor, waste your time, lose out on potential gold, makes no difference to me. I have already received the information I set out to obtain through our community. I appreciate all the feedback, I am just baffled and hope that crafting a precursor becomes more relevant as it is one of the features of the expansion I was looking forward to the most.

I will. Thank you. As have many others already, hence the price spikes right after HoT went live.

Only because you like playing the game 1-way does not mean every one has to enjoy playing it that way.

Also I would like for you to prove how precursor crafting is a useless service to the game? How else would people who do not want to rely on the mystic forge, and do not simply want to buy the precursor (for what ever reason) get their precursor?

There, not useless no matter how much you want to moan about prices.

It’s useless because farming mats-selling mats-buying precursor is more efficient and effective than crafting the precursor. Glad you wasted your time. Congratulations.

You should probably scratch your brain and do things more efficiently, you’ll see results and wont waste your time. Time is the one thing you can’t get back.

Great, now if gaming was all about pure efficiency instead of fun.

All you have proven is that you do not understand the difference.

I’ll say it again, precursor crafting has a purpose. You not agreeing to that purpose or wanting to use the possibilities precursor crafting offers does not void it’s use.

It simply means that you have different priorities. The fact that other players have and are enjoying the crafting is reason enough for it to be useful.

general Questions about Dungeons/Fractals

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Cyninja.2954

Cyninja.2954

Dungeons are outdated content. Even the last touch-ups on dungeons are 1.5 years old.

Fractals have seen slight revamps, but in general aside from some bugs fixes (and introduction of new bugs) they are the same as 2 years ago when they got added.

- 95% of the boss fights or even just killing trashmobs are about abusing some form of line of sight, get mobs at a specific spot and zerg them down with blind/wall/stun etc.

The mob AI is not as sophisticated as for example some HoT open world enemys have. The general approach is to stack enemys and kill them while using active defenses. If you consider pulling enemys around a corner an abuse, sure then let’s call it abusing the enemy AI.

- nearly everyone is using full dps gear and get one or two shotted
- no use of any defensive stat (2/3 of gear and stats are useless?) or aggro mechanics (does it even exist in gw2?)

Defensive stats are nearly useless in any pve content where it could matter. Having 1,000 more toughness or vitality might allow you to survive 1 extra hit, while it extends the duration of the fight by a lot more allowing for more mistakes.

In general it’s: learn to not get hit while doing damage.

For this purpose parties usually have specific setups (dungeons are to easy for it to matter any more). For high level fractals (80+) you’ll want a combination of support (providing boons and reflects), damage multipliers (alacrity and quickness) and a good mix damage skills. Build parties accordingly.

But even here, the powercreep and outdated nature of fractal design allows for a lot of flexibility.

The only place where healers or tanks are needed is the raid. But that content is a completely different type of game.

Trying to get Twilight. I could use some help

in Players Helping Players

Cyninja.2954

Good Luck, but a small warning, going for a legendary this early in your GW2 career might burn you out.

Just know what is ahead of you: http://gw2legends.net/Twilight

Even if you craft the precursor Dusk, you are looking at a minimum of about 900-1k gold just for that. The rest of the gifts are not that much cheaper too.

Unless you plan to:

- grind insane amounts (which is doable, but as I said, this might burn you out)
- spend a lot of $$$ on gems to exchange for gold
- are a child progeny at making gold on the TP

I would highly recommend you set this as a serious longterm goal. Nothing wrong with working towards longterm goals, just know that you might want to spice things up with short and midterm goals along the way.

That being said, good luck and have fun on the way to making your first legendary.

Will there be a living story season 3?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lord I hope so!
Living Story > expansion.

This, but I have to say I would love to see a mix of both.

Living story inbetween expansions. Maybe a new expansion every 1.5-2 years (yearly if the quality is high enough). Living story between expansions.

It would allow for major overhauls and additions to the game, while hopefully reducing the reliance on the gem store thanks to expansion revenue (Guild Wars 1 did this fine).

The Living Story upgrades would make for great build up for the big story archs that expansions bring.

I guess time will tell.

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Cyninja.2954

Id like to start off saying that i love GW2 , but when i came back after hearing about the recent expansion, i had heard from a friend that upgraded from a free account to a full account for 50$ he got a the core game ( upgrading his free account to full) and the expansion. Now what disappoints me is the fact that i paid the same price years ago just to play the core game, and now i have to spend another 30-50 whether or not i decide to buy it on g2a or gw2 website, when a free player who didnt even pay for the full version game like i did years ago pays 1 flat fee of 50$ and gets core game and expansion, when i have to pay around a 100$ just because i played before it was free to play, ? this literally makes no sense from a customer service standpoint you are punishing people for supporting your game before it went free to play, and rewarding people who didnt support your game at all with the f2p players being able to upgrade and get twice as much for how much the p2p players paid years ago, so you’re actaully intentionally screwing us. It actually makes no sense that the people who purchased gw2 do not get the expansion included since that is the standing offer that is in place for f2p players…..gggggrrrrreeeeeeddddddd

Except that your old account > free to play accounts (see https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/95982157-Account-types-Free-Core-HoT and https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Account).

Also statements like

i paid the same price years ago

usually don’t mix well with other arguments. Unless your account has gone to collector heaven and has gained with it a value increase, deal with it.

Fianlly, if you had been around for the HoT launch, you could have gotten a character slot for preordering. There, now you have something else you can complain about: people who preordered HoT getting more out of the expansion upgrade than any late adopters.

If the expansion does not seem like it’s worth kitten,- $ to you, then wait until it has droped in price and then buy. Simple as that.

Fractal Loot Still Terrible

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Cyninja.2954

I opened 77 chests and got ascended kitten. Zero. Nada. Bunk.

Which type of chests?

- Daily Fractal Adept (1-20)- has nearly no chance for ascended armor or weapons. rings can appear here. Why should this be better? It’s litterally baby mode fractals.

- Daily Fractal Veteran (21-50)- still not good drop rates on weapons/armor. Infused rings have a decent chance as well as normal rings. Still beginner mode fractals on about the difficulty of fractal 30 back pre HoT.

- Daily Fractal Champion (51-100)- 12% on armor chests, 4% on weapon chests, very high chance on rings and infused rings, decent chance on skins. This is the only real daily chest of value and the drop rates are fine.

- Fractal Encryption Box (any)- has a 0% chance on any type of ascended (and my guess is you were either refering to these or low level daily chests). Literally only good for gold rewards. You could open 10,000 of these and not get a single ascended item because they do not have ascended in the drop table.

So unless you want to share which types of chests you are refering to, no one can help you.

Opened 10 champion chests since patch : not a single drop apart from the guaranteed kittenty ones. So for me drop rates are still kitten. Before Hot I had almost every lvl 50 run something of value like ascended chest or a fractal weapon skin. Now well i get 3g and some useless tome.
Also don’t look at just one research :
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zMD0SKSgL_YUNMGdC9OCUA1rJsXA-Tdo9-W4cpKfpQ0/pubhtml
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/18IHVJao5j85KOp6lBTOgO8qs4VYD3Xty-jKPZo8o-Q4/pubhtml

Not sure what to tell you. You were obviously VERY lucky pre HoT (or ran 2-3 fractal 50s and got lucky). The drop rate for skins and ascended boxes pre HoT was certainly NOT daily. All drop research back then pointed to aproximately 12% on 41-50 daily and about 10% on the 31-40 daily for ascended boxes.

The links you provided show exactly what I stated. The only difference is in the following:

- you can’t run a 31-40 daily on top of a 41-50 daily any more. This means your total chance to get ascended per day is now lower. On the flip side, getting the daily chests has become way faster and easier with the current system.

- basic fractal skins have had their drop rate reduced. This is more than made up for the ability to buy select fractal skins and the increased pristine relics per day.

Obviously the big one is the loss of the second useful daily chest. Funny though beacuse no one is talking about the reduction of running ALL the dailies under the current system in 1-1.5 hours versus taking 2 hours for only 2 dailies pre HoT.

The grind through the huuuuge map is bad enough, but to add gems??? What I loved about the old gw is that it didn’t involve any of that real currency crap, and everything was of the world.

Quit this game right now. As in NOW. If you think the leveing process is a grind (which most people find to be the most enjoyable part of pve) you are not going to like endgame.

-Take away mandatory mission grinding through map and replace it with story adventures that do not grant xp or level ups – there should be some other rewards, or maybe joint team adventures. Players should also be able to create their own missions or stories.

No. You are asking for a way more open sandbox game than GW2 ever aimed to be. Question is, why should arenanet change the game now after 3 years when it has an established playerbase?

Also, none of the story mission are mandatory. You can get to every point of the map without playing the story.

-PVP should be compulsory for skills training, and there should be 1 v 1 combat as freeplay in all parts of the map. Levelling up should be a part of pvp skills training, not story-missions.

Leveling for pve characters via spvp is accomplished through the insane amount of Tomes of Knowledge pvp players get.

Open world pvp is done in the WvW areas of the game. Pve areas are for pve only. Again, you are looking for a sandbox pvp game, which GW2 is not.

-Take away the GEM system, it isn’t necessary. GW1 currency was fine. I can remember saving money for weeks and weeks to buy a guild hall, it felt so amazing, and it was. Now I can just buy it with my credit card??!!

The gem system and the way it’s been added is arenanets way of generating revenue and an intergral part of their business plan for GW2. It’s mostly cosmetic in nature so as to not make the game pay-to-win.

Unless you propose a better or alternative way of them monetzing GW2, it’s here to stay.

An integral part of their business plan? Who told you this rubbish? Go and do your research.

It makes a once good game appear cheap and desperate.

Go through this thread again.

- Notice that you basically have 0 clue as to what kind of game GW2 is (judging by how supprised you are with some of the most basic stuff, you have 0 clue about major larts of the game)
- Notice that you have no idea of how arenanet is making it’s money in GW1 and GW2
- Notice what for changes have happened during the course of GW2 time on the market

and I’m the one who is supposed to do my research? Right.

Here is what is going to happen over the next few weeks:

- You are going to realise that GW2 is not the open sandbox pvp game you want
- You might make another thread about how you feel this is not right
- You will either adapt and play GW2 for what it is, or leave.

In none of those situations will I as a vetereran from beta prelaunch GW2 (and player of GW1) care for any of your mumbling because:

- I know what type of game GW2 was, is and might develope to
- I understand how arenanet is making their money (no, box sales will not cover 3 years of support and developement)
- I will focus on discussions that are actually beneficial and realistic to improving GW2

So you bave fun for the next few weeks until you leave for another game.

You have now 3 reliable options to solve your conundrum with varying degrees of propability of success:

1.) you can take the time to look at some guide videos, hints, etc. and try to mimic those and eventually succeed at finishing the jumping puzzle (or not, though your ability to influence the outcome is quite high)

2.) you can keep moping around and telling people how much of a loser you think you are (which honestly most of us don’t care about. you seem to have deeper issues than guild wars 2 and should seek counceling) hoping arenanet changes the jumping puzzle and makes it easier (which they very likely will not, and your ability to influence this outcome is minimal at best)

3.) give up and try to not care about the jumping puzzle

Not sure what you expect from other players in the form of help.

Ascended gear price increase - grind on?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cyninja.2954

Cyninja.2954

I hear you, I really do. This is what I’ve been doing. But it isn’t top stat. Every time I spend resources on exotics, I find myself wondering if I’m wasting those resources. Because I imagined most of my characters would eventually have ascended gear. That was my goal. This has just gotten a lot harder.

Also, funny you’re calling armor overpriced. I was attempting to craft a set when I noticed the ridiculous price increase.

The price increase for crafting ascended armor is directly attributed to the increased demand from other players.

It was to be expected with the announcement of raids.

Prices have started droping since the major first weeks craze has lifted slightly. As is, the price for crafting ascended armor is now approximately 30% higher than pre HoT and about 60% cheaper then when ascended armor/weapons got introduced (Damaske was 30g a piece back then).

So… let me get this straight… Because its expensive to craft, you shouldn’t get ascended gear?
Dude, 20 minutes a day for 2 weeks and I’ve got 4 ascended armour pieces and an ascended weapon…
Quit complaining about the prices and get into the fractals and raids… its a lot easier to get the ascended items now than it have ever been before…

I don’t really understand why you say it’s easier than ever before. But it’s beside the point. I am frustrated because had I known, I would have crafted more ascended gear prior to the release of HoT. I feel like I missed out. And that is happening a lot for me as a GW2 player.

He’s refering to:

- fractals taking less time now
- the powercreep of new elite specilisations and the changes/additions to/of (new) game mechanics (quickness is a boon, alacrity got added) making old content like TT and Tequatle easier (Teq even got got nerfed)
- there being even more achievements which rewards different slots of ascended equipment

No, it’s not beside the point. You basically did not care about ascended pre HoT, and now suddenly that you’ve decided that you want ascended for what ever reason, you complain that current prices are not equal to the cheapest prices available.

If you played 10 characters up and had no issue not getting ascended, why is it such a big deal to you now? Just play fractals and you’ll eventually get your ascended armor/weapons for free.

While anoying, the updraft is not needed. Hell they could remove them from the fight and all it would do is make players pay attention to where/if the flamewall is up.

Might even be a benefit since then people would not rely on the updraft in their movement/strategies.

Also even slight dps losses should not be an issue. Sabatha is not a fight that is dictated by dps but purely mechanics. You should have more than enough damage after having killed Goreseval.

Is Beserker Warrior now Meta for the raids?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Cyninja.2954

Warrior has been OP in PVE for a very long time, and it still is.

It really wasn’t. It was recommended because every 5 man group needed banners, PS, or EA. That said, only 1 warrior per 5 man group was taken. At the very most 2 warriors would be in a single group.

You do know that 1 or 2 out of 5 is a VERY good % of the group composition right?

That’s like saying warrior was not in demand because they made up no more than 20-40% of the group? That’s out of 8 (now 9) classes. Some classes were happy if they got taken along at all.

On topic, yes condi berserker does very good damage and is a lot easier to be played compared to an engi.

So warrior was OP because only 1 was ever taken in a group? I guess that made thief, guardian etc OP too. What a great way to judge if a class is balanced or not. If it’s taken, it’s useful, so it MUST be OP.

Yes good point.

Now be so kind to point me to where:

- I said warrior was OP
- this thread was about warriors being OP

I must have missed that memo.

Warrior in pve was in a good spot pre HoT (due to uniquness of banners) and is a good spot post HoT (thanks to mostly still banners). A class being desirable does not mean it has to be OP.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Cyninja.2954

Cyninja.2954

Cyninja.2954

You do realize prices are going down each day because more and more people lose interest in the shoulderpiece right?

You do realize that isn’t why prices are going down, right?

Every festival, prices for shinies start off high, as early adopters are willing to pay huge premiums to obtain them. Eventually, word spreads about how to efficiently farm (and make money) and folks start undercutting each other on prices for the bags and their contents.

So it’s not that “people” are losing interest, it’s the inevitable social dynamic of those willing to pay extra finishing their WP and the remaining demand comes those who aren’t willing to pay as much. Plus, the longer the festival goes on, the more time people have to farm more.

This.

Or very simply put: supply and demand shift over the course of the event.

So yeah, you keep trying to convince people to not undercut you TC, we’ll be facing reality in the meantime.

As others have said, running the story on alternative characters is the way to go. Also make sure to save the boxes until you can complete the collection if you are doing DS parallel to this.

You really don;t want to run out of characters for any armor type boxes when you are missing that 1 super seldom random drop which you have to run DS for now all day.

Cyninja.2954

First off, I’ve been a long time player of Guild Wars both 1 and 2. Been playing gw2 since launch. I am a veryCASUAL player and enjoy the game immensely. I ended up with 13 or so level 80 characters, all armored up to max exotics. Maybe 80% of them full ascended trinkets, since they are easily attainable if you played fractals of the mists pre-HOT launch. I do have my favorite classes, but play all my characters when I can.

Anyway, I finally decided a week after HOT launched, that I was going to dive into the journey of creating my own precursor for TWILIGHT greatsword. Completed TIER 1 last night and was so happy and excited. That’s what I thought until I figured out what were required to finally just get over the TIER 1 journey. If I remember correctly, 30 Deldrimor Ingots and 30 Elonian Leather squares. I found out I only have 15 of each accumulated. Checked on TP, forget about it. These items will cost you at least 8 + gold EACH. Wanted to see if I could craft it myself since I hoarded so many materials from my almost 3 years of “on and off” pve casual gameplay. Nope, you can only make 1 item a day per account. Then, there are some shards of glory something. Some kind of pvp currency. I don’t pvp, so I bought it from the TP instead. That was priced ok.

Bottom line of the story, I should’ve just saved my precious deldrimors and elonians for crafting ascended armor or weapons. Crafted ascended armor or weapons could not be purchased straight off from the TP or anywhere for that matter. Legendary weapons can be. Well, lesson learned. Now, I am kinda bummed. I just wasted what little resource I had. And for this week or a year maybe, I might put off the game for a while because I feel kinda mad about the situation. So now, the journey for my precursor is over before it even started and left me with no deldrimors and elonians.

Not sure what to tell you.

- The fact that precursor crafting was not meant to make precursors cheaper, just remove the rng component in them.

- The fact that this information and the requirements for just about every precursor crafting journey are avaialable online to read up on before starting

- The fact that if you think making a legendary is expensive, you are not going to like ascended armor. Those 15 ingots might have goten you 2 pieces, at best.

- The fact that 15 deldrimore ingots/elonian squares is not even a drop in the bucket for Dusk. It’s 90 deldrimore ingots alone if I remember correctly.

- The fact that Dusk goes for 1,100 gold or so on the TP. If it were so cheap to make, this price would have droped.

- The fact that if making the precursor via crafting puts you off, you are really not going to like the rest of the materials required. The precursors in Twilights case is about 1/2 of the cost of the legendary. A good 1k gold goes to the rest of the stuff. (also information avaialable for a long time)

I feel for you. Be happy you noticed sooner than later and can either slowly work towards Dusk or walk away (also not even 2-3 weeks ago all the ascended materials were 4-5 gold more expensive each, so there is that).

[RAID] Suggestion to make raids approachable

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Cyninja.2954

Cyninja.2954

With the Magnetite Shards being rewarded on tries, isn’t what you are asking for already ingame?

Total numbers of people trying don’t matter to be honest. You started with 30 people, and over half of them quit after 1-2 days? Those were never going to stick with raiding to begin with.

The problem with raiding here is the same as it is in every game:

- a lot of people just want to tag along for the reward, but don’t want to actually work towards clearing the encounter in the first place
- once you have a couple of bosses dead, suddenly every one is a raider and wants to help out
- player inability to face the fact that THEY might be the reason that their raid is failing. Once you accept that it might be you, you will try to improve (or quit)

I’m not strictly against an easier form of raid for a more aasual approach, but that would cost a lot of developer ressources. Also if rewards are made freely available, what point is there to raiding? (and no, no matter how you spin it, making raid rewards easier to be had no matter in which form is devaluing them).

Again, tries reward Magnetite Shards which is essentially the token system youa re asking for. There is a lot of material on how to beat the raid bosses out now. It should not be to hard for a semi-dedicated group/guild to complete the fights.

Fractal Loot Still Terrible

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Cyninja.2954

Cyninja.2954

The fractal dailies provide you with a guaranteed:

- 3 Stabilizing Matrixes (30-35s a piece)
- 10 Fractal Encryption Keys
- 5 Pristine Fractal Relics (essentially 1/2 a ring which could get salvaged for more Matrixes)
- 12% chance for ascended armor/weapon from master chest
- way better chance for a ring from all chests
- around 20-30 Fractal Encryption Boxes (which ar going for 18-20s on the TP a piece)

So even without all the loot, which usually ends up to being 4-10 rares, and 1-4 exotics, you are looking at an absolute minimum of 6-8 gold from the guaranteed loot alone. For essentially 1 hour of fractals, maybe 1.5 hours if you take your time.

Now if we actually factor in the ascended chance, the pristine relics, the extra ascended rings which come out to more Stabilising Matrixes, alle the bonus loot during the fractal run…. I usually end with around 15-20 gold per daily.

That is more than acceptable for fractals.

Cyninja.2954

You feel cheated because you tried to game the system and failed.

Okay.

If, by “gamed the system” you meant that increased rewards in fractals were supposed to appear when HoT launched and didn’t, and so someone saved chests until the bug or oversight was fixed, then yes.

Anet and Playerbase Historical Learning Skit.

Anet: I am announcing today that this change will take place wherein [unopened/consumable item] will change for the better and benefit all my subjects throughout the land, rejoice!

Playerbase: I will farm and hoard and slave and save all of my [unopened/consumable item] until the blessed date arrives!

….

(The blessed date arrives.)

Playerbase: OHMAGERD! All my [unopened/consumable items] [disappeared/were replaced with something useless/cost something to open!]

The end.

I’m not trying to be a jerk, its a natural assumption that we should save our things until they’re worth more. As some version of this happens every time something like this changes, this is a public service announcement.

Except that in this case they:

- clearly informed people about the change to fractal keys way ahead of time (see my post further up)
- they increased the rewards for daily chests farmed from before the change and increased gold loot from fractal encryption chests as promised.

If you were part of the crowd that:

- did not pay attention to the information provided (key change)
- expected s an even greater buff

that is not arenanets fault.

Here TC expected his amount of keys gained to remain the same while at the same time having access to the better rewards from daily chests. Tough luck, one of both was more gold, the other was more ascended drops. It WAS communicated properly.

From a pve perspective:

Revenant – power
Mesmer – power (spliced with potentially some commander’s if running mesmer tank in raids)
Warrior – power or condi
Thief – power
Engineer – condi
Ranger – condi but know that for raids you’ll likely need or want to be druid speced, in which case berserker with some defensive stats for tanking Goreseval
Elementalist – power or celestial
Guardian – power (condi works too, but is less effective)
Neromancer – power or condi, though get’s outclasses by other current condi specialisations and the Reaper with power works very nicely

power – berserker
condi – As much viper as needed for cap condi duration, rest sinister

Basically read up on the class you are playing, then decide if you enjoy the playstyle for it’s given damage type. Engineer pulls some insane damage with condi builds, but just might drive you insane as to the rotation needed.

Some classes have a different role in raids compared to the rest of the game. Primary example are druids.

The only way to get viper accessories is by raiding, so usually every1 has sinister accessories, because theyre easy to get(living world 2- chapters 5-8)

Yes, and because eventually you will cap out on 100% condition duration after which Viper’s condition duration becomes useless.

ps. this is just a general rundown of popular builds. Other stuff works too, this is just the general direction most classes have taken at the moment

Lots of people run 51, 56 and 67 actually.

Snowblind isn’t terrible with a half decent team, in spite of the instability.

Snowblind is perectly fine.

And after 2.5 years of runnign regularly with pugs through fractals it’s one of those rare fractals, where when low skill meets bad luck, it can turn you off of fractals for good.

Snowblind is that one fractal which you can power through with a good team or spend 30 minutes with pugs until the group dissolves. Especially now with the elemental regenerating to 100% after wipe.

I do try to convince all the people I play with to spam shaman (my favourite), but only my friends of 1-2+ years actually concede :/
… after all that time, one can say they’re immune to my bullkitten.
I shall attempt guild converting.

Love Grawl, was never that bad since I used to run Mesmer or Guardian. That being said, it draws equal to snowblind in the “if you get a bad group” department. Literally the only fractals I can remember ever leaving after a dedicated amount of time of wiping.

Guild Armour only for biggest guilds?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Cyninja.2954

When the upgrade cost is big when developing the guild hall, the cost for the item then needs to be lower. There needs to be a feeling of working together in the guild is rewarding, and not just a way to separate small and medium guilds from big ones.

So that people can join a big guild, craft all the weapons/armor, then leave again?

I will not comment on how arenanet handled guild rewards and the entire guild upgrade system post HoT, that is a different topic.

But the notion that after spending tons of ressources on upgrading your guild, then making the rewards very cheap (and accessable to everyone who gets invited into the guild) is strange to me.

Making the guild armor/weapons cheap will effectively reduce their scarcity which in turn will reduce their value. So you end up with spending a ton of ressources upgrading your guild for basically valueless skins. Doesn’t seem to me like a prudent solution.

Black lion keys from Map Completion NERF

Well it’s official, a few weeks ago on my warrior I was getting BL keys every 2 maps basically now on my guard, I got 1/8 so far. I haven’t seen any “notes” about it but its pretty evident that they wanted to nerf map completion even further so BL keys are that more rare I guess, such a drag.

So you getting very lucky in the past with your warrior leads you to the subjective impression that black lion key rewards were nerfed?

Dead dungeons so how do I get tokens Anet?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Cyninja.2954

Cyninja.2954

It’s really bad, 0 groups on all dungeons most of the times I’m on.

0 groups looking for players. There is a difference. Put up your own looking for group and it will fill up, quite fast usually since you have no competition as far as other lfgs.

It’s in essence the same thing as the old “only zerker meta” lfgs. People complained about those since those were the ones to fill up slowly and were more visible.

Non-daily fractals are pretty bad too. I’ve had some LFGs up for 20-30 minutes before a single person joined.

Non-daily fractals provide literally almost nothing of reward over the daily and/or fast fractals. There is enough players who still need dungeon tokens.

*EDIT : And yeah, completely agreed that the quality of players in dungeons has gone down south. It’s night and day compared to before.

True, because they don’t get speedrun any more. This could be anoying for arah (most other dungeons are easy and fast enough). Then again, the powercreep introduced with elite specialisations and ascended should still leave you capable to carry an inexperienced group.

It amazes me how people keep claiming that no one is runnign dungeons simply because there is few or no current lfgs up. I had no problem getting people to join my lfg within 5 minutes. All it takes is a couple of button presses and a proper message and maybe 5 minutes of wait until the group fills up.

Magnetite Shards Problem

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Cyninja.2954

Cyninja.2954

It makes no sense to me that the bosses drop single-digit amount of shards and we have to clear the raid multiple times to cap it. What other MMO does this with their raids?

WoW for example, that is when they release raids in parts in their lfg. You do not have the same amount of tokens/loot for your quests until the full raid is out.

That a sufficient enough example?

The Magnetite Shard problem is quite simply due to the fact that it’s designed for the entire Raid, not only 1 wing. “Fixing” things now for 1 wing would mean they would have to change it back once more bosses appear. Or people will start crying about having caped shards half-way through the raid.

Which in turn would make people complain about more Magnetite Shards being available in the future, devaluing game time spent now, etc.etc.

Fractal Rewards now ?

Cyninja.2954

2) The game don’t owe you ascended gear. Like I said before you can reach level 68 without armor or weapons, but if you wait on drops to get to level 100 it will take a long time. On average you gonna drop 1 ascended box (armor or weapons) each week. So it should take you around 2 months to get your full armor if you do a daily 51-100 each day. If that’s not fast enough for you, you can craft the pieces you need.

This is a ridiculous statement. Of course it owes me ascended gear if that’s the ultimate reward of the content. Go state that in the raid threads and claim that there should be no ascended drops from raids and get laughed out of there. Ascended is the only reason to run fractals so requiring ascended to get more ascended is just screwed up.

You just don’t care because you’re already in ascended from doing pre-HoT fractals or you don’t hate crafting so you have an entirely different agenda. It’s as if I went into the thread about encryption boxes and said “the game doesn’t owe you gold”.

Except that pre HoT the required agony resistance for fractal level 50 was 70 agony resistance (required all ascened trinkets with infused rings and backpiece and ascended weapons and some ascended armor pieces). Now it’s about 61-114 agony resistance (depending on which 50+ fractals you are running. I’ll assume the popular 56-67-77, though a lot less is needed if you run 56-60-70) and this again requires full ascended trinkets (no ascended weapons needed this time around and definately no ascended armor).

The ascended drop rate for Master chests is slightly above what it was for fractal 50 boxes pre HoT.

So I really don’t know what the hell you are talking about.

If at all, players from pre HoT should be complaining about how much easier arenanet has made it to gear up via fractals essentially devaluing the gametime they invested.

ps. obviously you did not bother to read what Thaddeus or me posted about how to get agony resistance via trinkets only. If you don;t bother to learn, how are we supposed to help you? Ascended armor is NOT needed. So go troll somewhere else.

pss. and agony resistance infusions are basically as cheap as they can be. +1 agony infusion went from 12-15 silver to currently 65 copper. I’m sure you knew that though, just forgot to mention it.

What is the point of melee in this game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Melee skills hit for a whole lot more than ranged skills. You really need to check the math on that.

Right thats why elementalist and mesmer are never seen on pvp, oh wait.

And rifle and then turret engi before that.

Because Mesmer and Elementalist damage is what makes them powerful in pvp. Riiiight.

Move along troll or get gud.

Ps. and because I see it coming that you have no idea, maybe read up why BUNKER builds are dominating pvp at the moment. Has to do with them having insane damage… At least bring some good arguments that don’t show how little clue you have of the game.

Oh and in pve, because every little bit damage more that you can do against braindead npc enemys is a win.

How about just removing swamp for 51+? That would fix the swamp rolling problem.

Yeah, let’s remove more content from the game, that will definitely make it better.[/sarcasm]

It would not be removing content. Swamp would still appear below 50. But unless anet can actually make swamp difficult, I see no reason for it to appear above 50. Same opinion on Swamp and 75 and Molten Duo over 90.

I am sorry if I believe making fractal 100 should actually be based around skill. Not how often can you do Swamp, Molten Due and Maw.

Your solution is no solution. All this would cause is for a new “swamp” fractal to emerge. Most notably the one that is easiest/fastest right after swamp. We have two contenders, Molten Boss and Jade Maw.

Are we going to remove those 2 aswell from 51+? What about the next fractal that gets run? What about future content? You are basically adding a lot of limitations of a short sighted nature, without addressing the actual problem.

Boon stripping in fractals?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Cyninja.2954

Cyninja.2954

Windsagio is correct in that the only way to determine if its worth stripping is by comparing prot up-time.

If I assume I’m a Mesmer only running dis-enchanters to boon strip, I can still use wells to keep alacrity up. Quickness up-time should be largely unaffected too.

Lets assume I contribute 20% of the dps to a party (I don’t) (alacrity and quickness is negligible as my up-time should be similar for both setups).

Phantasms only count for roughly 40% of that number. So 8% of the party dps is from my phantasms.

If replacing them with disenchanters results in at least 8% more damage from the party, then its worth it correct? 8% more damage would equate to 75% up-time of protection compared to 100%.

I can’t do the actual math, but having run 3 disenchanters several times I can attest that prot uptime was much less than 75% in those particular groups.

Do take all of this with a grain of salt, but wanted to chime in my thoughts.

This is true, but it also gets way more complicated since by keeping 3 disenchanters up all the time you are denying yourself shatters which in turn means you are getting less alacrity to get those support skills ready sooner.

Also having 1 setup which even if it’s barely better than a standard setup seems like a waste. Especially when the obvious solution (bring condition damage with low crit for example) is way more efficient.

It’s like comparing two lackluster setups which get outclassed by something else and argue about which of the 2 turds is better.

So freedom of speach, which is essentially the freedom not to get presecuted by your government or censorship, is also a freebee to be be a troll towards fellow players.

No one is saying you aren’t allowed to spoil stuff ingame. It’s simply a kitten move and justifying it with the basic right to do it, shows only how little people think of their fellow players.

Then later, people complain why the community is going down the drain. There might be a correlation…

Also having entitled kittens wanting everyone to drop everything and shut up would have a correlation to the community going down the drain.

What you’re asking is akin to this:

I don’t want my house broken into. Therefore I take the appropriate measures to keep it as secure as I possibly can whenever I’m out. If I get broken into that’s not entirely my fault, because I have taken all the steps I can to stop the break in. It’s not my fault.

You don’t want your house broken into, yet you’re leaving the front door wide open, the curtains pulled back with that huge LCD screen on display. That looks pretty inviting to a robber, so they come inside your completely unlocked house and steal the TV. You didn’t take the precautions that you could to stop the break in. That’s your fault. But on top of that, then you go to the court and demand that all thieves be told not to steal.

You don’t want spoilers? Here’s a suggestion. Use the resources available to NOT hear spoilers. It’s not that kitten hard! It’s in fact very very easy!

No one is asking you to drop everything and shut up. There are sufficient ways for private convos, parties, guilds, etc.

You’ve also not answered how people are to protect themselves from the spoiler spam in LFG. Besides the fact that you are asking players in an MMO to block all open communication. Many wouldn’t even consider having to do this, unfortunately once spoilered, you can’t just unsee what someone wrote.

As far as I know, the max AR infusion u can make is +21, thus my post from earlier today is right, u can’t get 150AR from trinkets, but u can get up to 147 (asuming +21 infusions are max we’re able to make).

When they implemented the new system, the supposed max was +30.

Doesn’t matter anyway, since the pure material cost of Thermocatalytic Reagent is beyond 3.9k at +19 already (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Agony_Infusion).

In reality, +15 is probably the most people would go for, and we are talking people who have tons of gold to waste since that is almost a full ascended armor set right there.

I’m pretty disappointed. I guess I’m forced to craft ascended armor and weapons if I want to continue in fractals and that is just not worth it. I opened about 20 days worth of daily boxes (40 regular, 20 adept, 20 of the middle tier) and got nothing. GG and bye bye.

If you bother looking thing up. If only lol.

Ascended box are dropped from daily 51-100. There is a very small chance to drop from Veteran and zero from Adept and Mist chest.

With Trinkets alone you can reach 94 AR which mean you can do up to level 68 where you should get about 1 Ascended box (weapons or armor) for every 6 days on average.

Pretty much similar to what we used to have.

Also explain how you get 94 AR with just the 6 accessories. 7×6=42 + 2 slots at 10 each is only 62. Potion for +10 and that’s 72. Still a long way off from 94 which you imply should be easy enough. From my perspective it looks like you’re locked into running sub-50’s for nearly no chance at ascended, which is required in order to get the AR to run higher levels which actually have a decent chance. That’s just broken.

///////////// basic infused attuned
Backpiece – +7 +10
Amulet – +7
Accessoire 1 – +7
Accessoire 2 – +7
Ring 1 – +7 +10 +10
Ring 2 – +7 +10 +10
—-——————————————
///////////// +42 +30 +20 = 92 ar

So either your math is off, or your knowledge of how much agony resist is possible on accessoires. I’m betting on the later. Also notice that the infused and attuned slots are variable in agony resistance strength. So if you put in +20 infusions you could even cap on 150 agony resistance with only trinkets. The 94 ar were using 3x +10s and 2x +11s (or a variation of this) since that is what is required in full ascended to hit 150 agony resistance for fractal level 100.

spoiling star wars in map chat

LOL people commenting you should stop using the internet if you don’t want spoilers… how sensible. Maybe people just need to stop living if they don’t want spoilers too?

If I’ve seen a movie that I liked, I’ll want to talk about it. It’s not my fault that someone else is the one who doesn’t want spoilers. Have some common sense. Of course people are going to talk about it, and that’s not their problem. If the person with the issue has options to stop seeing potential spoilers, then utilise them and quit whining. There are more than enough options in-game for that already.

So titling your lfgs which people who want to participate in group content can’t ignore constitutes as “talking about a movie you like”?

Randomly droping spoilers out of context in map chat to anoy people is a meaningful disscussion?

If you are trolling, then at least have the decency to call it by that name and don;t try selling people crap for roses.

If you are spoiling this movie 1 day after it’scinematic release, you are an kitten . There is no arguing around that. It’s called common courtesy towards your fellow players. You might want to pick some of that up eventually.

Pay To Win?

“buy-to-win”? Riiight, because buying totally isn’t paying. Is that some kind of new buzzword or just for made up on the spot in order to sounds cool?

It’s a deviation of buy-to-play, which together with free-to-play and pay-to-play are 3 different approaches of monetization for MMOs currently.

I never said buying wasn’t paying. I disagree that a one time buy on this time scale should be lumped with actual pay-to-win approaches though. A distinction you seem not to care about.
