1. One of the first screenshots i took in game. Just Killed Zhaitan (remember when story mode took like 5 hours because it was so long people kept quiting and fight itself was loooooonnnggg). I knew nothing, like Jon Snow back then xD
Dat standard white sylvari face zzz for lack of any better (it took a while for Anet to add new faces/hairstyles), mishmash of armor because transmutes were too expensive for me, heck, i think i didn’t even have full exotic at that point. OMG gems were cheap back then 2-3 g (if not less) for 100gems QQ
Last: couple years later, too many hours pve grind for skins (including legendaries), LS, some raids, too many fractals, too many hours in WvW, endless hours in pvp (90% of my play time), tournaments (funded gem store purchases xD), legend titles……… i try out everything really, but i love pvp. Wish it offered more skin choices than it does atm.

Few points, coming from someone that pvp’d mainly in few games including WoW:
The positive sides of GW2:
- amazing fluid action combat, not as cluttered with particle effects like asian games
- no gear/level requirement – make lv 1 , go pvp right away <<<HUGE plus
- separate pvp/pve build
- strategical pvp (5v5, conquest) instead of just death mode – this one in particular is great (despite everything posters above say) is because it allows even underdogs do ok in pvp thanks to strategical play and not being forced to play FOTM and rely on one shots (sup warriors in Cata)
- yes game got powercreeped as hell, yes classes are imbalanced like in every MMORPG but the game still has way better balance than in every single MMORPG i played so far
- rewards are actually decent, they are not as great/easy as from pve but if you pvp mainly you won’t really need gold as much – only time you would need lot of gold is for skins (fluff), legendaries(fluff), wvw and raiding really <<<neither of those is relevant to enjoy pvp
- yes, most maps have same mode but they all have bit different layout and special mechanics (compare to LoL or WoW with same map for 182082103812038 years)
- pvp system – you can queue alone or queue with friends, there is also league system, ranked, unranked, HJs – yes, they are not perfect but some games either have no queue system at all or just 1v1
- short matches – usually between 10 and 15 min. It is not LoL where you have to be glued to the screen for 1 hour basically.
- GW2 community = fluffy lovely rabbits compared to toxic crap you see in LoL. We have our share of trolls, afkers etc. but i think due to GW2 population being mainly on older side (25+ years old) you won’t see here as many raging griefers.
Negatives:
- abysmally bad matchmaking, regardless what system they picked for the season it was always bound to forced 50% win rate (Overwatch suffers from same issue); if you are lucky you might get decent matches, especially when your MMR is not settled yet; if you have high MMR however and play alone – enjoy having loss, win, loss, win, loss, win experience with total blow outs. 1 person simply can’t carry really bad teams that get literary spawn camped. Spawn camping enemy team is also hardly fun. Devs consistently deny that forced 50% exists but vets have those observations with thousands of games. Good news: league system next season is changing a lot supposedly.
- due to a lot of mechanics and being action based, not to mention it is all about strategy, getting into pvp in this game can be very hard and requires a lot of time and practice, if you want to get to higher tiers that is.
- the community is relative small (can’t compare to LoL for sure). Queue times are fine in lower tiers, in higher tiers (sup legend/diamond) you can sit for 1 hour in queue at begin of the season (too few of us there xD, my record is 1:28 hour), not so bad later when season progresses.
– Expansion (HoT – costs money, core game doesn’t) is must have if you want to compete in higher tiers. HoT powecreeped all classes so badly and made them so braindead compared to core game that no matter how good you are (and we are talking about really really good) you just handicap yourself too much with core build and half-decent enemies with HoT wipe the floor with you. I personally played core spec on worst class in s1&2 (it is better now) and i just had to give up in diamond in s2 and roll with HoT – the HoT mechanics are too punishing on core. You should have checked this game before expansion – it was way more skillbased (resource, CD management, timing, positing etc.) than it is now.
- forums are extremely restrictive: we can’t post screenshots from matches because they contain match ups, we can’t report pvp related bugs here because it is considered exploiting etc. Can’t post videos or recruitment – all get thrown in dead part of forums.
- pvp/wvw/pve skills are not separated – GW suffers from same issue that made me quit WoW – pvp is balanced around raids. Is change needed for pvp but would hurt raid? Not going to implement it. Someone complains about cheesy crap in wvw? Nerf it regardless how it actually hurts pvp. Frankly, all HoT specs were overtuned to increase sales and now they can’t nerf them because of raids. GG.
- class stacking in matches is possible which leads to huge disadvantage for teams vs other because game is actually balanced around no stacking in essence
- jojo class balancing and very very obvious class favortism
- no dueling system besides custom arenas and guild halls
- very bad tutorials (partly due to lack of bot games)
As others said, try the core game – it is great, costs nothing. Despite me being salty vet GW2 is still my main game and made me never want to go back to WoW – GW2 is definitely worth trying out. Note: don’t get discouraged too fast if you try pvp and get killed a lot – those players were in your situation not so long ago.
(edited by Cynz.9437)
There used to be separated section but mods decided to merge it all in one section so now we are forced to sort out wvw/pve junk to see teams recruitments.
(edited by Cynz.9437)
It could ignore percentage of the armor not the straight out number. That way it would affect tanks and squishies the same way.
gw2 player base is not big like moba (dota 2, lol)
having only 1 team mm is better for premades than seperate them to solo que, team que, etc2
fix’d
Want to have a laugh? Make char thief, equip d/d and cast death blossom – enjoy the view of spinning land whale.
No team-based ranked mode seems like a bizarre choice.
I think having both a solo/duo and 5man team queue options, which are eligible for ranking (possibly on separate tracks) could be interesting. Whether that is viable in terms of playerbase though I am not sure.
Bizarre? That is what we had from launch basically and then devs took it from us. What really bizarre is that majority of the players base (soloq) got screwed over for the sake of handful of players (teams).
I think we need soloq and team q. But also allow duoq (max 2 people, not more) queue in soloq like in old league system. That was you can still play with a friend w/o needing to form whole team and 2 player team won’t have that huge impact on match outcome as long as matches are balanced.
(edited by Cynz.9437)
Answering that question would be admitting own incompetence so don’t get your hopes up.
Before patch lot of guards were complaining that thieves can break aegis by using bs multiple times (not like guards didn’t hardcounter thieves on first place lol) – you see those posts anymore? no.
Then there was that recorded match before the nerf patch where Helseth made his goal to kill Anet employees as many times as possible with his thief.
Then patch comes out – all weapon sets (even those that nobody uses in pvp) from thief got nerfed. Put one and one together.
(edited by Cynz.9437)
There have been multiple posts on pvp forums from guards complaining that we can spam backstab to remove their aegis (like guards didn’t hardcounter thieves on first place heh) – here you go, no posts about it anymore . Scapegoat will be always scapegoat. Just another patch screaming at thief community: “Please uninstall, ty”.
Nowhere. Devs changed and new devs decided that thief should be nerfed to the point that they can only
- decap empty point (because clearly other classes can’t do it lol)
- +1 almost dead enemy (because clearly other classes can’t do it lol)
But heeeeyyyyy thieves have dat amazing mobility…. that buys them about 1 sec before enemy arrives on point. Under the line, you need to be 10 times better than you enemy on thief to be somewhere remotely as effective.
You want a unrewarding challenge with lot of stress and disappointment or be a hipster, or both? Play thief.
I got gw2 for pvp. I used to pvp in this game non stop, even when pvp wasn’t worth anything (sup glory days). Then devs changed and thief gradually was turned into worthless team pet that shouldn’t be able to do anything but decap empty points and +1 according to devs (because clearly other classes can’t do it lel).
It is just not fun anymore, i have to be 10 times better than my enemy just to have somehow even chance.
The game also became so spammy with HoT – resource management, positioning, timing – all gone.
I would pvp regardless the system (leagues, LB, w/e) but class balance definitely killed it for me. Now I just grind legend in first weeks of season and then play OW till next season starts. Balancing patches for past 2+ years made it pretty clear that thief players are not wanted here – fine, whatever, i gave my money to Blizz.
(edited by Cynz.9437)
Might reduce some lag too
I live pretty close to EU servers and have around 20-40 ms – better couldn’t be lol. But the bug with pets taking the backstab instead of target does exist.
New flash. The top tier staff/d/p thieves are immortal in a 1 vs 1.
Maybe on NA – where is only 1 good team lol.
The class is definitely not so noob friendly – but when i joined game i assumed it will be just as hard as playing rogue for first time so i kept playing no matter how much i died. Frankly pve in this game is way more forgiving on thieves than wow was to rogue back in wrath for example. The real wall, really really steep wall is pvp actually. It takes sooooooo long to get decent on thief there. But i guess that is the beauty of the class – you feel good when you beat enemies you shouldn’t. The only problem is, on top of being hard class to master, it also got nerfed so many times it is often simply not worth it to play.
In WTS enemy team said that they simply ignored the thief. That is just sad to what the class succumbed to compared to first years.

I started as a clicker and still am running around in blobs. We had a very short time in which the mouse cursor was always centered on the screen – I so wish that was an option.
Uh you do know about action camera right?
Look in your keybinds and the action cam toggle keybind. When active, action cam places a dot in the middle of the screen that is functionally your cursor. When running action cam right click is select/deselect target at the dot. left click is your 1 skill.
I can’t play the game any other way. Mouse wheel click is a perfect place for the toggle imho. Hope it helps.
Action cam is like the worst for pvp/wvw lol. It forces you in tunnelvision.
Weirsd. Never would of thought that auto target would do that. I have the target option on, forgot it’s name now but for example if I use rush on and in selected target then target mid rush, the skill would change direction to that target but I doubt that will do anything to melee hit’s.
And no cnd worked normally for me as I use it vs clones/pets.
I have the most troubles if the target moves, clones and even pets often don’t.
And maybe there’s more than one reason for my “misses”.
With mesmers I mostly hit their clones when trying to BS them and even having them in target. But that was with auto target. You can actually try CnD with and without auto target. If you’re used to click “next target” you will probably not notice a difference, but if the target isn’t selected the chances that you’ll miss are pretty high – even in PvE. And in wvw it was really bad tonight, for whatever reason, maybe I was tired.
It happens even without auto-target. It is rather buggy and been like that since launch. I even had my character turn around and backstab a pet instead of enemy i am targeting and don’t have auto-target on soooo….. I reported it couple times but Anet as always couldn’t care less as long as it only affects thief.
As far as next target goes – i just have cam zoomed out almost at max – gives you great field view and you can target most of enemies. In pvp anyway since maps are small.
Oh now that i think about – nice thing about pvp is you have standard models so you don’t have to struggle targeting tiny asuras in middle of miriad of minions. They probably should add such feature to WvW tbh.
(edited by Cynz.9437)
people are arrogant and think that because they have lost to an ‘easy to play’ class, that they are a better player and somehow deserve to win. even though they lost.
I beat DH in high diamond/legend, on a thief. What does it make them? How bad do they have to be to lose to a thief in 1v1 (no i don’t use p/p)? Why are they in that division on first place – oh right, because spec is faceroll and carried badies to ratings where they don’t belong.
Yes, I’m a “girl” – what do you expect?
Besides: it worked before and inbetween.
Hey, don’t generalize like this. I haven’t had auto target on for years. Then again i play d/p – auto target is suicide on dp.
I just use tab binded to next enemy, call target, target called target, mouse click – those suffice for me. Never had issues targeting anything with it, even mes among 1000 clones.
(edited by Cynz.9437)
What would you give up for more survivability? I mean look at thieves – yes, they got mobility, yes they got evades but at what costs?
Also comparing DHs to necros is stupid – Dhs are overtuned, let’s not powercreep everything to broken classes level. Same goes for engis – they always had absurd amount of survivability, Grouch mains it – what did you expect.
(edited by Cynz.9437)
Dear Anet, please give actual banns to afk’ers. They ruin game for other 9 players and go unpunished all the time.
Say a word on forums – get insta banned. People grief other players in game – nothing is done about it. Why? Why is griefing in game is accepted?
What do you suggest they do Cynz? I have been reported for things like going far point, for running away from lost fights, for defending home against a thief/rev that keeps trying to decap, and running a certain build.
I wouldn’t trust any player driven reporting system in this game given what I have experienced.
No, i mean actual trolls that even announce that they afk and just sit afk at spawn.
They’ve been doing much better handing out rewards than they used to. Every few months isn’t the worst.
Yeah but specific titles implies development time – not happening :P
LOL given how it took Grouch at least 3 months just to send one of the rewards…. gl on that.
What about pre-Daredevil?
Shortbow, S/P
Ok, taking the “learn the class” part out why didn’t anyone say P/P?
PP is spoiling since you don’t have to engage melee range thus you never really learn how to position yourself properly in melee, what to dodge etc.
DH Bug:
Using almost any ability while using Scepter’s Auto attack, does not cancel the auto attack’s channel. So if I pressed “1” to auto attack and I suddenly wanted to use my F3 block, or F2, or Sce#2, they will not cancel Scepter#1 until the channel ends. There’s no interrupt to the skill like other weapons. If you press “1” several times then the input lag will channel the skill twice and you can’t use a much needed ability until Scepter#1 ends. This is extremely problematic in clutch situations for a DH.
Pretty sure it affects all classes. I Have similar issue with PP for example or backstab.
Coz ppl r bad
This is the most simplistic and accurate statement on why people complain about DHs. But people don’t know or realize they’re bad so when they die, it’s because they don’t understand and think something is when it’s not.
I would consider myself a veteran player and not exactly bad. I do complain about DHs because the build is so stupidly rewarding and easy to play that it carries bad players with 0 map awareness and rotation speed of a snail to divisions where they don’t belong and then i am stuck with 3 potatoes on my team that 1v3 some guy at far and lose everything else on map.
which “build” are you even complaining about for DH?
you do this in every thread with DH mention.
are you complaining about the full trapper build with longbow that somehow also uses symbol spam and meditations on a mender’s amulet sustain doing marauder amulet damage?
aka the zeal/radiance/honor/virtues/DH fully 5 traited build using 5 weapon sets?
Where did i talk about full trapper build with lb symbol spam and meditations on mender amulet doing marauder amulet dmg?
In every thread involving DH you complain about “the build”, when there are like 4 DH builds being used right now, none of which represents a single spot in the world championships.
Just so we’re clear, which build exactly are you having an issue with? and what specifically? Is it the traps? (those weren’t buffed by the patch), is the the blocks? (those also weren’t buffed by the patch)
the only completely new build that arose from the patch is menders symbolic, basically 80% of what a pre-nerfed Spring Paladins Scrapper is.
WTS has no class stacking rule. Ranked don’t have it. Meaning if you face multiple DH you have to deal with pretty much all the cancer.
I have issue with DH mechanics, symbols, access to blocks and CC as whole not just one particular build. E.g. traps are too big, should have cast time like traps of other classes, should have longer CD etc. Then you have piercing light and hunters determination which about every DH uses and which negates any kind of engage on DH. Same goes for virtues – it doesn’t matter what build DH uses, they are still the same and are too good.
Is that even normal, aNet?
When we hop in the match first thing we check is how many guardians enemy has. If two or more it goes “crap, no chance”.
I roll power ranger (which is rare since druid is almost as OP as guardians) and I pay for my damage with my vuulnerability.
Guardians pay nothing for their damage as well as the defence. You say you always ask for fun when developing.
Where’s fun in that?If you bother to watch pro league where meta gaming is created , you ll see DH’s are very rare. Comparing to top tier classes (reve/scraper/reaper/druid) DH’s needs a boost tbh….i understand why DH’s can be hard to counter in small MMR games but that dont makes the class OP..actually DH is FAR from OP
WTS also have no class stacking rule….
They need to bring back s1 pip system which encouraged people to play till the end even if they were losing.
The common folk in solo queue don’t know the difference between a medi trapper and a full trapper so to them it’s all the same.
Usually thfs are the ones that get the most angsty in solo queue about dhs.
I never understood why so many people solo queue on thf. I never found the appeal to the class and most thfs don’t know how to rotate, effectively forcing you to carry them. Don’t get me wrong, most people aren’t experts on rotations but thf seems particularly reliant on rotating correctly.
But but but it feels so good when you beat enemy and can trash talk them… since they really shouldn’t be dying to thief xD
My favorite is to beat HoT specs with core thief…. oh mannnnnnnn the feeellllsssss
(edited by Cynz.9437)
I can’t kill Dragonhunters on my tank-thief. Clearly this means Dragonhunters are OP.
Lol speaking of thief… take the meta D/P build, replace dagger with pistol and change Dash to Bounding Dodger and you have a winner. No DH is prepared for PP right now and because of easy stealth access from P5 + Bound you have enough sustain to get past their blocks, even F3. And no need to step through their traps.
… and get killed by everything else in match. Grats.
How do you get killed playing PP? Maybe you should practice a little more. It has inferior DPS to DP but better survivability due to being outside the range of more than 50% of skills, and you get more stealth than a Dash thief. Unless you’re picking 1v1s with everybody (in which case switch to warr) then you’ll fine.
Picking PP is dumb against 1 guardian but makes more sense if the other team is DH stacking. You beat them at skirmishing and still have better mobility.
Is this a joke? Every time i see enemy pp thief, i farm them 24/7 in match – easy win.
I don’t play PP, it is useless once you start fighting half decent players.
Maybe you should l2p and get to decent rating instead of farming noobs in HJ.
Cynz, you should probably take a deep breath. If you think people should not play thief versus DH-stacked teams, just say so. But DP is not viable, as it fails against any decent DH bunker, and fails hard when doing +1 in mid (big part of a thief’s job). Too much CC and direct damage from multiple DH. Melee thief vs. DH is not a good idea, staff and DP are equally unviable.
If you have a suggestion about how people should play thief versus DH-stacked team, please feel free to offer it at any time. Because right now it’s a problem on search of a solution. And tbh nobody cares about your anecdotal evidence of “farming” PP thieves, how about you show us you actually know something?
Solution: ask Anet to either nerf DHs or remove class stacking.
Once again, PP works only vs noobs. Even stacked DH team of half decent players won’t die to that because they would know how to focus.
(edited by Cynz.9437)
I’m not even playing full trapper, and fyi I’ve been playing guardian since Beta, and was my main for 2 years before I went over to thief, so don’t tell me that I’ve “joined the bandwagon”
Meta isn’t full trapper and for other people you are just a bandwagon member.
You joined the bandwagon, what did you expect?

I think Anet need to be a little more transparent about what is being done with reports. We can wish I suppose.
Nothing happens. Some guy on reddit got an alt account and have been trying to get himself banned by all means. It took him half year of griefing to even get a warning.
Seriously? Or is it just an urban legend?
Anet really do need to step up their efforts. How much time and money do you have to throw at this game before Anet takes their customers seriously?
Yeah he made long post and all and even got reply from Anet claiming they get 10 reports per day.

Of course they don’t do anything. The report feature is to give you the feel that they may do something, when they do not. This has been proven time and time again where you have the same people doing it and multiple people reporting them.
Unless you’re keeping a log of the account that AFK’s and when, how do you know? How do you know that they weren’t just given a suspension?
Because
1. in higher divisions you always see same people
2. there is a necro guy on EU that has been afking and griefing players for years!!! and he continues to play like nothing happened

they just need to add a way to tell its going to be casted, like ranger lb 4 or warrior lb 5
Or like Ranger’s Raygun of a pet? That 7k damaging AI skill has no warning and 3x more dangerous than some unblockable pull.
Nope, Bristleback’s barage isn’t instant, it takes around 1.5 seconds, plus it makes a very distiguishable sound.
Only for ranger, it has 0 sound for enemy.
What? I can hear it.
I can’t. Especially not in team fights and when druid is in astral form.

There probably ought to be an overhang on the shield and sword platforms. Right now I just port up there around 1-2 secs to go on mesmer or thief and I’ve got a free buff vs anyone who hasn’t run up there before me.
ele can do it as well… basically anyone with locational tp
(edited by Cynz.9437)
If you run a bursty build that has a single interrupt you can murder a Druid with no issue, kitten I was picking them off mercilessly as a LB ranger, and thats hardly the only build that could do it.
Yeah…. only if they are noob and their pet is not nearby.
They run 2 offensive pets, how does it being nearby affect anything?
It puts enemy under great pressure not to mention rev dog has knockdown with like 10000 km range.
Have you ever played a glassy burst build before? They either have enough mobility where they get in burst and leave, or burst from far away. You literally kill them before the pet has long enough to pressure you, if you end up in a prolonged fight you kittened up and should retreate and try again later, or if it’s in a team fight you back out of the brawl and wait to dash back in and pick them off.
I play “burst build” – any half decent druid won’t die right away….. It takes 1 click for pet to pressure “burst” builds…

It’s irrelevant if you’re a veteran or not. Or anyone for that matter. The DH Medi-trap build has been around since HoT day one. Nothing substantial has changed other than buffing condition clear and adding a much needed symbol to sword and scepter. And I’m not even counting the nerfs.
But your reason for complaining about DH is absurd. Because it’s rewarding and easy to play… It, like any other class, is rewarding to play against bad players. And what you also said is not a class problem but a player problem. No matter the class, if anyone goes up against 1v3, you’re going to lose.
edit: nvm, you are guard player…. what a surprise~
You really don’t understand the issue do you? Or unable to understand english?
Guards got buffed, all other classes got nerfed which was indirect buff to guards.
Yes, it is player issue and class issue. Bad players get carried by DH to divisions where they don’t belong.

Too bad very few people in-game come to the pvp forum. You can also try posting this on Reddit.
One thing I want to add is – don’t forget to have fun!
If he posts this on reddit he will get flamed by RP/pve’er community, per usual.

That is not even an argument of any sort and one of the most common fallacies used in discussions regarding PvP. The common thing is that in all skill based games, players with top skill cap are a very small % of entire population. So let’s assume that 80% of players are so called “bad”, 15% decent and 5% good. If a particular class design creates significant problem for those “bads”, it directly affects 80% of your game population. There is a reason that “pub stompers” are so popular in most PvP based games. This is the same reason why nowadays I see 2-3 DH in most conquest teams in GW2. Perhaps they loose their viability in top tiers of play, I don’t know. But this does not change the fact that they are an issue for all “bads” and thus for the majority of game population.
Also make an experiment will you? Whenever you play a conquest match (lower half of tiers in ranked at least or any unranked game if you are higher) at start count which team got more DH in squad. Then check the correlation between this and which team actually won the match at the end. The results are, at least in my case, interesting albeit predictable.
?
tl;dr
I wish one day there was bugged patch that removed all warriors passive traits and effects and lowered their HP to 11k. Maybe then you would stop calling other bad.
I think we need some kind of summary thread for it.
I will start:
- while i appreciate the space on mid point i feel like it offers close to no LoS (the pillars and slopes are just too far away) and give classes with big range too much advantage. Could you throw 2-4 pillars around the actual point?
“Patient Legend”
…or Class-specific titles. You get the title according to the class you played most ranked matches this year.
Ranger : Ressbot
Guard : Master of Trapspam
Thief : scapegoat
Engi : Stalemate
Mesmer : Use-Elite-to-Win
Warrior : Master of Faceroll
Necro : First target
Rev: Better Thief
Ele: Midpoint LegendAnd a finisher where your enemy gets buried by a huge salt shaker.
Anet plz
fix’d
it is always thieves fault
Krait runes 6th bonus ignores dodges/evades.
DH tether pulls enemy into air causing them to take/die to fall dmg.
Any AI called by mes while they are in downstate completely ignore stealth and continue to attack stealthed enemy.
Druid staff AA animation sticks to target indicating where the target is for the whole match, even if enemy went in stealth, is on other side of the map, even when druid is not actually attacking nor can target the enemy.
Dodging into chronomancer clones that run at target to shatter doesn’t cause them to shatter but actually ignore dodge and shatter after dodge is done (caused mainly by 200% run speed). Dodging into shattering clones from core build does cause them to shatter into dodge and not ignore it.
DH traps (ToF specifically) have bigger effective range than actual visual indicator.
Maybe instead of nerfing DH, buff certain classes that stand very little chance against them.
No, powercreep introduced with june patch last year needs to go. Before HoT specs don’t get nerfed to core specs level, nothing should be buffed, period.
You know DH could stand to take a few nerfs. Symbol Damage on one-handers going down, Shaving a second or a second in a half could of Shield of Courage could help too, though Anet is probably going to nerf traps more. Also I’ve gotten around playing base guardian again, and find Wings of Resolve being shorter CD than actual traited Virtue of Resolve a bit iffy. Design was said DH was supposed to be a selfish spec. In short if they’re going to hold true to what was expected, i’d say the active effects of virtues should be selfish, Wings of Resolve should only affect yourself, as well as Shield of Courage. But you know this is only assuming that everything else remains the same in terms of amulets. I’ll bet if you put something equivalent to Dire or Merc amulet in the mode you’ll find necro back inside the meta, and a flood of condi chornos, and condi zerkers. You can say all you want about how badly designed you think DH is, but don’t think other classes are designed any better.
Thief players saying we have too many passives, there’s only 2, Valorous Defense, which is 1 block at 50% and Hunter’s Determination which I think should really go. Bringing in passives of virtues, they’re more used for their actives instead of their passives, unless you’re saying they make such a major impact with, 2s of burn every 5 stirkes, 87-108 healing every second, or 1 aegis every 30-40s. And complaining about instants? Kinda like Steal on thieves, Shadowstep and attacks from stealth? Or Charged Mesmer Mantras? Pretty sure we’re not the only class with instant abilities.
Piercing light is not passive anymore? Because this one, combined with hunter’s defense negates any kind of engage on DH or any attempt on trying to stop them from rezzing someone. Frankly, it is worse than mirror anguish since it is AoE and affects multiple spells. And traps are instant/closer to instant.
Steal is single target attack that doesn’t one shot players, it can be blocked. Shadowstep is utility that doesn’t kill anyone and is on really long CD compared to traps.
Traps are AoE covering entire point and affecting whole team. Traps also have multiple effects including being unblockable or ignoring dodges, besides dealing dmg.
Stealth attacks have cast time, quite long one too, they also go on CD if they don’t connect with target (e.g. someone moved 1 mm or used block/blind/invul etc.) effectively locking thief out of AA. Do traps go on extra 20 sec CD when someone dodges them? No.
Traps are also on very short CD and can be stacked basically. Imagine if every time thief used shadowstep, entire enemy team was getting backstabbed for 5k+ dmg and getting affected by basi venom and blinding powder – this is how traps work.
People have been complaining about full trapper since last year and anet has consistently nerfed traps since then. But traps haven’t been buffed so the reinvigorated hysteria over dh has been mostly reignited by their resurgent popularity due to the new viable builds.
wat?
ToF has literally been nerfed 4 times since HoT launch if you include the trait nerf
And it was justified. We all know too well how overtuned HoT specs (and frankly still are) were upon launch.
