All I can say is, “Welcome to MMO’s.” I’ve never observed more hostile, unforgivable communities in any other area of life.

Try MOBA’s, lol.

I’m pretty highly ranked in DOTA and you stil lcant go throug ha single game without someone in the game being flamed out at the end for ruining it, it’s pretty sad really.

I tried DOTA once.

My first game, I was kicked within 15 seconds for being noob (yes, that was the actual notice after kick).

I was lucky to get out of that cesspit early. You’ll probably meet friendlier people in a mexican prison.

Are there any viable zerg Mesmer solo builds?

Dawdler.8521

Zerging is fairly straightforward IMO.

If you want to support, go glamour or mantra. These are weak and very niche Mesmers that are boring or tedius to play.

If you want to flank and play like a Thief, go direct damage PU or shatter. These are generally very fun Mesmers to play and flexible in battle. The best part is that traveler runes synergize great with PU.

If you want to tag and provide a little wider range of damage, go AoE condition/torment specs. These Mesmers can be fun to play but unfortunetly suffer from rune and sigil limitations to truly live up to their full potential. Torment runes are even more expensive than travelers and you’re still gonna move like a sloth.

If you want to be absolutely useless, go phantasm. This Mesmer is a strong duelist… in sPvP. In WvW zerging those phantasms pop faster than kittening bubbles.

Its doesnt really matter if its PvE or WvW, the mechanics are the same, though the reason for failures may be a little different. Phantasm builds for example are great single target but often mediocre against larger groups. Shatter and PU are still the most fun builds to run in PvE as well. AoE condition builds work (torment does not), but conditions in general is in a poor state in PvE.

The rebuilding of LA

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Still think it should be rebuilt by the master builders of each race, creating 5 distinct districts within Lions Arch (each resembling respective city). LA would also become server instanced, of course.

OR

Abandon LA. Make Divinitys Reach the new hub city. Bring all the refugees from LA to DR creating a more multi-cultural scene, rebuild the LA statue in the center of the city to remind us of poor LA and add the WvW staging area. And still make it instanced per server.

Remove FGS 4(PVE): Gamebreaking

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Dawdler.8521

Dawdler.8521

This isnt really a profession balance issue though… its a matter of stupid and brainless bosses.

Imagine a simple AI mechanic that make the bosses think a little. Is the boss being wailed upon by 5 players at 100K dps? Well then buff yourself with retaliation. Remove all buffs from nearby players. Put confusion on players. Block incoming damage. Knock them back. Teleport and AoE damage. Just do something that any sane player would do. A dps check upon themselves and a set of automatic responses should be easy to program. Just take what’s considered “normal” dps and then increase the responses the higher from this “normal” it is. Its easy to calculate that from the average time devs want the boss to be killed. Of course you could still exceed the “normal” dps, but at least it would mean some sort of danger to yourself. So in short, the higher dps you got the more dangerous the boss become.

But nope, they just follow their normal routine and are prompty slain in under 10s.

Sell a “raid leader” tag in the gemstore that it only visible to a guild. Roll in profit.

You are thinking too small. That would only roll in profit for a short time then the market is saturated.

A better idea is too make an arrowcart cost 500 gems (superior arrowcarts 1500 gems).

What, people would still buy them and you know it O_____ O

I think you just don’t want to accept the fact that WvW is a competition that is opened to ALL. This isn’t the Olympic were there was pre-selection by your kitten raidleader.

Strange, I thought a raid was a preselected party of guild/alliance members.

If only there was some sort of system that allowed anyone to become… lets call it a “leader”… a focus point for random people to form some kind of blob around and join or follow at will instead of just having these closed raids.

But surely such a thing does not exist in GW2?!

Why are Mesmers moaning?

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Dawdler.8521

Dawdler.8521

Why? Why?!?!

Because of the god kitten kittening awful bugs and just plain unfair gameplay mechanics that cripple a Mesmer, that’s why.

Here is a perfectly normal comparison of a Thief and a Mesmer… Imagine a scenario where there are 3 lousy low level mobs on a hillside in front. Its not high, maybe 2m above you or something, easy peasy.

A dagger/pistol Thief will use shadowshot and teleport to the first, then swish swish mob is dead, shadow shot to the next, swish swosh etc and so on and all three mobs dead in seconds. Instant response to skills and the Thief works as it should.

A sword/whatever Mesmer will use iLeap to teleport to the first, but the clone stops halfway and you teleport only to do blurred frenzy in the complete opposite direction of where the mobs are, then you say kitten it and swap to staff to quickly generete a clone with #2 and shatter, only to teleport right on the spot instead of backwards. But hey at least you can shatter that rabbit which the clone instantly ran for to kill instead of the mobs. The Mesmer is broken.

Fixing the Mesmer is not a matter of buffing it. In some weird twist of irony, fixing the Mesmer is about fixing it.

If a guild ask me to not follow them, and it has happen again this week, I will usually respect that. However, they better be kittening polite about it or else I’m going to enjoy trolling their shadow till next Christmas and actively seeking them on all maps just for the principle of it.

They are not in their right to ask such a thing PERIOD. Them obtaining such a grace is all on the other player’s good will. And even so, that group shows little respect to begin with by wanting to exclude itself from other players while strongly implying that player is a nuisance to their team. IMO, they are in a pretty bad spot to ask for respect in the first place. The point in WvW that some Guild seem to conveniently forget is that their team is not their guild, but their server.

So basicly what you’re saying is that you can do whatever you want and have every right to play with whomever you want whether they want to play with you or not, but other players dont have that right.

I… dont really think I argue with that.

It is indeed the same on all servers, but it doesn’t make it any more ok. The “rallybot” excuse to “justify” the exclusion of someone is just pathetic to me. The reality of the matter is, you can’t choose who is in your team like you could in PvP. Live with it or go away yourselves instead of trying to repel all others when you can’t do such a thing anyway.

You can choose who’s on your team in sPvP now?! Last time I checked, a majority of the matches where randoms being played.

Anyway, the “reality of the matter” is that anyone that isnt 80 in full exotic (or better) is a serious liability to an organized group. It doesnt matter what server you play on. Upscaling in GW2 is not good enough to allow sub 80 to be played in any kind of competetive manner. Sure you can pug zerg – anyone can pug zerg. Hell you can even roam and hope to face equal upscales (or just very bad players of course). If you want that, go to EB and join the chaos. Borders are often where guilds raid and want to stay organized. Not that having pug zerg too hurt, its just that its always in EB but not always in borders due to coverage.

If you ask a guild group and they say “no, we dont want you following us” then kitten respect that. If you still follow them then YOU are being unfriendly, not them. You are literally trolling them. They do not owe you any kind of “help”. You can cry all you want about the big mean boys not letting you play with them, it wont change the fact that organized raiding happen in this game and they generally dont want pugs following them. With the way the downed system works, the difference between victory and defeat in a 20vs20 slugfest can be a single player going down at the wrong time. The age old quote that a chain is no stronger than the weakest link apply to GW2 as well.

Its not even a WvW thing. If you got 4 Warriors asking for a 5th member in mapchat to run CoF with them and a level 60 Ranger goes “Me me me me I want to learn this Cough thing!!”… uh… no.

I doubt its the CPU RAM so the obvious question is: Are you actually running it on 4K resolution? I can imagine GPU RAM running out. 3GB will get eaten up in a jiffy if you run 4K and FSAA.

So follow up question: Do you get the same low memory crash if you run at 1080p without FSAA?

If no, there’s your answer. The gutted GTX870M in the Blade Razer is already running at about half power compared to a full desktop GTX780 which will slow to a crawl at 4K (roughly 30-40% of 1080p fps).

Why are mesmers designed to be "thief food?"

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Dawdler.8521

Dawdler.8521

The thing is that Thieves literally need no setup for their burst damage. Always starts with an Elite that let them deal free damage for 1,5 seconds, then use AAs that deal a lot of DMG, then or continue spamming dodge or go back to invis to prepare for more constant spike damage without any effort. And yeah, they can restart fights as they wish with all the blinks and stuff.

Mesmers at the other hand need to heavily setup do deal damage. They can’t just jump and explode someone, because first they need to land some buggy skils, set up their clone perfectly and wish that they don’t bug with the terrain or get killed with one blow from some random ele on water, then perfectly time their dodges/panic skills, time their daze and shatter, and it all in the only 3s window after the thief almost killed them by pressing 2 buttons.

For Mesmer, is try to burst or get bursted, and as much as I hate to complain about a certain class more than learning how to counter it, I only see the Mesmer’s playerskill counting here in the end…

I dont really disagree with you, but the thing about player skill being the “only” thing that count… Its definetly not true in the current broken state of many, many Mesmer skills.

I dont play Thief all that much but I have been doing world exploration and Thieves should consider themselves lucky their combat teleport work ~95% of the time (shadow shot) while the Mesmer is lucky to have a 20% success rate of illusionary leap. People that only play Thieves have no idea what ignorant bliss they play with.

Indeed. That is a rather wierd shatter build. Unless you are completely defensive (ie zerg built), you dont need any points in inspiration. In addition to the above build lacking in PU, its lacking in power as well.

Regarding the PU builds, just take your pick: 4/4/6/0/0 (prestige PU), 2/4/6/2/0 (purity PU), 0/4/6/0/4 (bouncing PU), 0/2/6/6/0 (heavy zerg support PU), 6/2/6/0/0 (poorly synergized mantra PU), 0/2/6/0/6 (another poorly synergized shatter PU) or possibly 0/0/6/2/6 (purity PU with meh shatter).

Anything without 4 points in dueling will completely cripple an offensive power Mesmer in any situation other than zerging. As ironic as it sounds, all offensive power builds basicly rely on confusion to win. That and quick manouvering.

Would Anet consider a race change feature?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dawdler.8521

Dawdler.8521

I just feel like i have too much time invested into my Charr Ranger.

With many patch changes moving toward account bound items… There’s no such thing as too much time invested.

I actually thought about changing my 1500 hour + 2 legendaries and numerous ascended Norn Mesmer into a Charr Mesmer lately. At my regular slow leveling pace and a 20 level scroll its maybe 2 weeks of work plus 30g or something for equipment (that isnt bought by badges or otherwise). The changed result would be pretty much the same, with the exception of some character bound things which are sitting in the bank anyway because I dont use them anymore.

But then I remembered that I womit at the thought of leveling a new Mesmer.

Anyway, point is go for it if you want to “race change”. Start a new character and level it. Even if race change do come eventually (the written story arcs is not a limitation if you set basic demands as 80 + finished story, it never has been and it never will be as its only visible to you the player and no one else. They can easily remove the tab in character menu for such a character and the game would be exactly the same. Hell we even have access to everyones home instances already) its not going to happen within the foreseeable future.

Bringing the Guild Wars to GW2 [GvG Concept]

in WvW

Posted by: Dawdler.8521

Dawdler.8521

As soon as you start to talk about a “GvG map”… Its not really GvG anymore. Its a premade sPvP match, otherwise known as tPvP. We can call it gPvP just for laughs.

I cannot speak for any guild as my main guild left long ago and I am no longer doing any organized raiding, but I really dont think GvG is about those things you say its about. I cannot give the reasons why. The best thing I can compare it with is open world PvP. Some like it and some hate it, but putting everyone in a instanced premade PvP map to correct the flaws of the system… wouldnt make it open world PvP anymore, would it?

A considerably simpler solution and less veiled under fancy the “GvG” name would be for Anet to simply expand sPvP. Allow up to say 40vs40 on a couple of new maps that mimic WvW/PvE maps more than the current fairly kittenty arenas. This way a guild can invite another guild for an sPvP match if they want to. Incorporate a guild challenge into the system – participate in a match from start to finish with two full guild teams. If guilds decide to do 20vs20, the rest can be spectators (the challenge of course start at minimum 20vs20 then). I dont know if GvGers would ever bother to use such a system, but hey if they dont then worst case scenario is we got 40vs40 random PUG sPvP on large maps.

To Command Or Not?

in WvW

Posted by: Dawdler.8521

Dawdler.8521

TS/vent isnt necessary any more than a being good commander is necessary.

Without it, following a commander is generally pretty boring. You get fighting performance thereafter. I’ve followed some pretty bad commanders, but at least they where somewhat funny to listen to on TS.

Really, its an MMO. Dont be afraid of a little interaction. But I wouldnt expect a commander to dig up their own ts/vent. I am of course assuming a server wide ts. If your server dont have that, dont bother with voice coms.

Also, regarding “mistakes” made when commanding… Just learn from it and try not to repeat it. You’re not going to be great in a day. Or a week. Or a month of commanding every day for that matter.

The biggest downfalls I see from commanders is lack of patience and the inability to overlook the situation. No matter how tempting that door defended by only 4 NPCs is, you’re not going to ram your way into reinforced bay with 10 people following you in the middle of primetime. You’re just setting yourself up for a wipe. Make a plan for the evening and set some realistic goals for the current situation. People wont care about a wipe if what you did made some degree of sense. They will however abandon you if it was completely futile. Reserve the futile attacks for when you want to go out in style and your followers know its the only thing left to do, lol.

My last advice would be… you have to realize that everyone want something out of it. If you’re playing it too safe, your zerg is going to slowly break apart as people go looking for points to gain. I often see PUG commanders run past a flag going “OMG DONT ATTACK OMG GO GO GOOOO FOLLOW ME!!!”. Nope. Not going to happen. A guild group can do this. Dont think a PUG zerg can. All that’s going to happen is that 30% of your zerg is still trying to catch up with you, 30% stay on the flag to cap it and the remaining 40% (if you are lucky) follow you. Great, you just split the zerg apart. Assume that everyone want points, all the time. Take the opportunity to use flags as gathering points. The same goes for commanders that get the bright idea to split zergs depending on their perceived supply status. If you got 30 people in your zerg and you say “People without supply, go cap that camp!” assuming that maybe its 10… 20 people will probably run away to cap that camp. And then a 20 man enemy group come and roll over you.

The last two points may sound contradictive, that’s because they are. Its all about balance.

Not really sure why you’d pick the focus for that. Using the curtain as interrupt is unreliable at best and the warden is borked. I’d take an offhand sword in such a build.

If this is intended for roaming, I’d replace 2 points in illusions with 2 in chaos and go for a sword/torch PU hybrid. That’s what I currently use to roam, taking cleansing mantra for condition removal instead having traited torch (suffer somewhat from increased torch cooldowns, but gains celerity bonus to other cooldowns) .

If you dont like PU, phantasm or shatter I have a hard time imagining a reason why you even play the Mesmer, lol. Because that’s kind of everything the Mesmer has :/
You can call your build fancy names but it wont change the fact its going to be a variant of one of these three. Well, you got glamour as well but that’s really just a phantasm build with a bit more support and possibly condition damage. Full mantra Mesmer is not viable and often end up a phantasm/glamour hybrid anyway (cant really play mantra and shatter at the same time, poor synergy)

Living Story Won't bring people back.

Dawdler.8521

Mounts, lol… Player housing, even more lol… Marriage system?! Downright laughable.

Its real simple. There are two types of peoples we want to bring back to the game: Roleplayers and WvWers.

The former are often smart enough to see straight through flimsy features like housing or marriage (again, lol), they probably want better basic functionality instead (like improved megaserver tech that doesnt scatter them to the wind).

The latter isnt going to give a rats kitten about anything other than WvW and GW2 is in dire need of improvements and tune ups in that area.

What about PvEers you say? HA! Grinders that have left the game isnt going to come back. The ones that havent left are still running around flipping over rocks in Orr in order to find some wooden sticks and possibly a worm or two. Or speedrunning dungeons with 5 man warrior teams. What are they going to do with player housing? Design it like CoF and start working out ways to run even faster?

But of course, Anet only seem to care about the PvEers. Living story, yay!

What truly is the "best" mesmer offhand?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Dawdler.8521

Dawdler.8521

I used to run with my beer mug focus (cause beer make you focus) all the time… but then they made the warden go full kitten. The curtain has always been mediocre and after the pull nerf… nearly pointless.

The pistol work decently but is best for condition builds (can build stacks like crazy when shooting into combo fields). Magic bullet has always seemed incredibly underwhelming to me.

Sword is IMO the one that works best and seem to be without any major bugs. It can easily be traited for, making sword/sword an good combo… Except that they have nerfed mainhand sword constantly and iLeap is broken of course.

Torch is one of those weapons that are good for multiple builds, both direct damage and condition. Being an integral part of PU builds, it make it a very strong weapon. Unfortunetly it suffer from generally long cooldowns the inconsistent ranged phantasm that’s about as as accurate as a 1 year old trying to pee in a teacup. But at least the prestige works.

So in short, the best offhand weapon is your hand, which you need to use to to wipe your tears after you realize how badly working the Mesmer offhand weapons are.

Open World Free for All Server?

in WvW

Posted by: Dawdler.8521

Dawdler.8521

I do not think PvP should be open world in a game designed only to have PvE in the open world. If it had been created with PvP in mind from the start, fine, that’ll work. But not now.

However

Imagine an all-zone event. Lets say that a gigantic tree tentacle reach into the sky in Orr and pull down one of Zhaitans dragons that Mordremoth want to consume, whatever. The scenario can be anything.

When this happen, everyone in the zone will see the cinematic, then they’ll get kicked out because the zone is “contested” and have to enter it again or alternativly reset to a spawn location based on their color.

A player will be placed on one of three teams with appropriate costume changes per race/gender/etc – Blue become Pact, Green become Mordremoth minons and Red become Zhaitans minions. Standard three-way fight using the same mechanics as EoTM. The costume would be visual only and wont affect skills or weaponry, in order to maintain the exact same PvP as normal WvW. Might require some new textures, but should be doable within player visual parameters.

Each team has score, which is built up by performing specific objectives on the map.

Event last maybe 60 minutes, ending cinematic plays, everyone is kicked out of the zone, everyone get a little loot depending on participation or if their team won, etc. Zone is back to “normal” (maybe some visual change to indicate who won the last time). Then after a certain amount of time, the event repeats. I’d say roughly a day between events, want to make it at least a little special.

We already know that GW2 is technically capable of doing this since they did something similar in the beta (Shatterers corruption of Plains of Ashford causing players to fight each other as corrupted or heroes).

Just a way to measure how long you’ve played the game. Without any “gear level”, AP is the next logical thing. I suppose full ascended armor and weapons would be another thing to ask for but… uh… I dont think anyone is going to ask that because they probably wont have it either.

Cant be avoided or helped unless they turn EoTM into regular a WvW matchup rather than everyone just being given a color.

With specific servers (ie regular WvW) at least you can call them out… and most people on their own server wouldnt be too happy either about spies. Of course its not impossible to do, but you get the idea.

Mesmer is an awesome choice to start with! Grab a greatsword and your leveling is quick and easy-peasy. — Every profession (they are not classes here) is strong and useful, when played properly. Your above statement is purely your opinion*.

*the opinion of someone that only have some 1400 hours on the Mesmer, ~550 WvW ranks and 2 Legendaries.

No, I do not think the Mesmer is an awesome choice to start with. And no, every class is not strong and useful. Some are by design much, much easier to play with. That’s not to say the Mesmer is weak, there’s just so many things broken while other classes get some incredible crutches (Guardian staff auto-attack comes to mind). When you have all the other classes at 80, then the bringing a Mesmer to 80 is a decent diversion. If you like it at 80, then by all means keep playing and getting better with it. If you do it the opposite way, you’re just setting yourself up for one heck of a disappointment.

Against the really really really good Thieves no one stand a chance except possibly a lucky well zerker necro that squirt out everything he has on his feet (but a Thief that fall for that isnt so good IMO). The Mesmer is no exception to this rule.

That said, I think Mesmers are actually one of the best classes suitable to at least attempt to counter a Thief. You can get teleport on very short cooldown (phase retreat, 5s when fully traited), the clones can confuse even the best opponent and if 3 heavy hitting phantasms are up and ready to attack they will easily take 50% of a zerker Thief’s HP as soon as they appear again. A shatter Mesmer can probably pop a Thief as soon as he appear. The Mesmer also have access to multiple blocks and invoulnerability, not to mention stealth of course.

So no, the best of Mesmers wont defeat the best of Thieves. But at least the average Mesmer is better equipped to handle the average Thief than your other average class.

Besides, most of the Mesmer pains come from its own skills being broken/buggy. Not the strength of the other class, such as the Thief.

Just got the game, what class to play?

Mesmer is not something you want to start with unless you want to get frustrated… Warrior or Guardian is pretty standard, easy on the noobs and the two strongest/most usefull classes when mastered. After that, Thief, Elementalist or Necromancer. Then Engineer and Mesmer.

I didnt miss any class.

No I didnt.

Come to Gandara, it’s a roamer’s paradise: you get to fight a lot of 1v8s and, should you ever encounter a solo player willing to engage in a 1v1, it’s only because they can see ten green dots otw to help them. Oh and of course the corpse-jumping afterwards, which appears to be an SFR forte.

There are no fights in gold. Blobs, yes, and the endless sea of guys spamming AC fire from towers. But not fights. Deniara’s post was comedy gold, though.

In other words, its exactly like silver except the blobs there are maybe a bit smaller non-primetime. Especially notable are the times when the arrowcart-to-player ratio exceed 1:1 (and the server defending still wont come out of the keep). So yep, pretty much the same.

Vitality vs Toughness

I use the Berserker+Valkyrie Ascended trinkets myself (Power, Vitality, Precision, Ferocity), to get a little bit more health. It does drop the Precision from the pure Berserker trinkets, but I aim for 50% Critical Chance, and hit that comfortably with food buffs regardless.

If you aim for just 50% crit chance, you can stack pretty much anything you want. 40-50% should get you comfortably to around 2K in 3 major stats when passivly buffed. Power/prec/tough or power/prec/vit or whatever. Or if you want to balance, ~1500 tough/vit.

THE BAD

  • No WvW Support — it seems they wanted to include some sort of WvW in this game, and yet do not want to offer anything in the way of bug fixes, balance, and content updates to help support the format

Could you specify what kind of bug fixes, balance and content updates you’re talking about?

Any WvW player knows about the current issues with WvW and how Anet is neglecting what pretty much amount to half the game. But ok:

- Numerous broken/unbalanced class skills reducing their viability in WvW/PvP or making them OP. Anet programmers has previously mentioned pets as not being intended for WvW due to adverse effects on the server stability. Necros should consider themselves pretty lucky having a main role in raids, but then again they are all wellmancers, not minionmancers. Mesmers and Rangers are pretty much kittened. Coincidence? I think not. And everyone love permastealth, dont they? Or the heaviest armoured class with the best health regen also having the best mobility and the best damage (and they get all the ladies).

- The maps themselves are old and not up to par with the rest of the game. They havent changed anything since the removal of the central lake yet they make whole freaking EoTM which is more complex than all WvW maps combined… and then its not even used for WvW, just karma training.

- They havent done anything to commander features despite promising to look it over years ago.

- Orbs are still MIA despite the promise to bring them back. It took nearly 2 years for them to hide they ever existed (they removed the northern ramp in the borders and removed the orb guards) but sure enough they finally did it. And I dont believe they ever said why.

- Siege is still unbalanced like all hell after the arrowcart lets-buff-the-damage-by-20000%-just-for-laughs patch. Not even a minor change like increasing the supply cost. Many of the siege skill traits are still horribly OP causing strange uses of siege (trebuchet supply drain for example).

- PvD zerging is still too easy.

- Outmanned buff still does jack kitten to an outmanned team. But hey, at least they changed the name!

- PPT still encourage the upper dog to kick the lower dog in the nuts while leeching off the middle dog because there is no difference in value.

- Why is garrison south inner still completely unique (you can see the door break at low HP)? Its like an unfinished experiment someone at Anet competely forgot about. Unless they’ve done another stealth removal of a feature since the last time I checked.

- They still havent done anything about the keep lord banner res spam.

- They still havent done anything to discourage night shift rampages or give the other servers a chance to reclaim lost points when morning comes. When PPT is gone, its gone. Good luck winning the matchup after 2 days in the weekend with low coverage.

- Nothing is being done about the lowest tier servers, which should pretty much be removed and absorbed into middle tiers. High tier servers barely have queues anymore and the megaservers make them useless in PvE. Maybe Anet could use those low tier WvW servers to, I dont know… fix megaservers by at least giving us one server instance in a city?

- Guild claiming is still wonky as hell. You cant even tell if you guild has something already claimed when you try to claim something else, other than thinking the function is broken (again).

- Nothing done about possible ways to encourage guild combat.

And probably dozens of other things I’ve forgotten to mention.

So why are they dark times? Let’s look at a what a gameplay programmer says about AI summons.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Consumables-Nerf/page/2#post3532963

The fact that most of these items ever existed is just blatantly a bug. The decision to throw cooldowns on them were for server performance/stability as the patch notes said, not for balance. Period. This was something that was long overdue.

Think of it this way: Between the embers and whistle, those items were effectively doubling/tripling the amount of players active in a map.

The bringer of bad news,
-Bill

Sooooo…. an Anet dev is basicly calling the Mesmer a bug, the game was never intended to be played by Mesmers.

Well that explains alot.

Vitality vs Toughness

Err… Neither?

Zerkers dont have any added vitality or toughness except when given by the traits.

If you want a hybrid, just go for a little bit of both.

Mounts

“Horses” Monty Python style, clopping around.

I cant be the only one that it serves everyone right that want mounts, because its an extremely silly idea. GW2 isnt designed for it and the zones are way, way too small – even if we assume there are no waypoints. 4-16x larger zones… Maybe then we can talk mounts.

Anyway, I want one with a Quaggan head!

They can satisfy most our desires by putting some effort into broken skills.

But I must say, one weapon I want to see – and something that might sound wierd – is the rifle. Yes, an actual rifle. explosive shots, phantasmal riflemen, aimed shots, etc… I want to see a Mesmer dance with with a rifle.

[Suggestion] Event notification

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Dawdler.8521

Dawdler.8521

Only if they redesign the megaboss events (ie Tequila, Shatterer, temples, etc) to occur after each other. So that every hour or so you get the notification that oh, Tequila has landed. Then next hour that Grenth is open for attack. Etc and so on.

This is extremely unlikely to happen however. Having them all pop up would be bad.

TBH I am more in favor of a better dynamic map instead of having event notification, passivly notifying you that something is going on in the zone when you look at it and highligt nearest waypoint to that event (passivly meaning you have to look at the map, the event wont obnoxiously poke you in the eye with a GUI element every time it occur).

Very "intersting" Hammer/GS Warrior

I’m more shocked over the fact you got him down to 50% HP than anything else.

Last time my Mesmer met a regen Warrior I failed to bring him below 90% HP. Of course, he couldnt kill me either but he pretty much negated all damage.

And the last time I met a good Warrior in a duel (siN)… I also failed to bring him below 80% HP while I got slaughtered due to heavy damage.

I keep playing my Mesmer because I always find some fun quirk with it. Been my main for 1.5 years now.

Take the new living story for example. In the second Dry Top area, there’s this boss on top of a little spire that keep knocking people off at regular intervals. My PU build is hardly PvE hardcore material, but I engage anything that move anyway. And it was hilarious. All the others (maybe 6-8) kept getting knocked off the spire. Every freaking time. I just stood there in melee range and pounded him. Ooops there goes another group flying.

When he was dead, I was laughing my kitten off. Knocked down? Not even once. PU random aegis and chaos armor procs ftw :p

Perplexity Runes

TBH confusion should have just had duration stacking (and of course, buffed damage). The amount of stacks certain builds can make very fast is quite insane. This is the solution for most condition issues – in PvP/WvW they should all just stack duration. But I digress.

Its not really a L2P issue, no. Its a bring-more/better-cleansing issue. Last time I was roaming and tried to fight a 3 man group with a perplexity Engineer in it, I had to replace null field with the cleansing mantra on my Mesmer. Null field simply didnt help, too long cooldown and too unreliable. Second attempt with the mantra went considerably better, except they just ressed anyone downed

Ok then here it comes:
Elite skill 26.454k dmg (150 sec cd)

Err… Where on earth is that number coming from? 150s mean Entangle and that skill just annoy people. In terms of damage it barely tickle anyone with half a brain.

Or are you saying that Entangle instantly kill anyone caught in it?

Because that would be quite awesome. Of course, the Ranger will still be kitten. But awesome nonetheless.
