I’m not a big sPvP player, in fact, I really don’t like it much. Though because it’s this weekends “it thing” it’s taken me out of WvW for a bit. I tried rolling a thief and running every other “meta” build with low to moderate success. After an annoying stretch of loses I went and brought in my wvw power Necro and doing much better. The only down side to Necro’s is our lack of life force at the start of a match. I really think we should start each match full but, that’s a whole other conversation. Though even without life force, I was able to beat a cele ele right from the start. So a Necro can take on some meta builds right out of the gate.

Without the separation of Team and Solo Q, Win/Loss ratio’s have a huge RNG factor to it. So, the value of W/L isn’t much really.
Anet, fix Power Block to affect thief, complete invulnerable to it PLUS stealth is not fair to Mesmers in sPvP.
Yes, because Mesmer’s are in such a poor state?
OP, can you go after Retal please? Retal is more broken than stealth in this game.
So after playing ranked all day, I think I’m not alone in being frustrated with the experience. After getting rekt’d in a match, a person on my team of randoms say’s “Don’t bring uplevels next time.” Sigh….. if that doesn’t explain the day in a nutshell, I don’t know what will. I sincerely hope it was odd humor…..
Thought you folks might find this funny
There is no truth to the rumor that invites were packaged in Black Lion Chests. ;-)~
Psst…. these are gifts for voting for Ellen
I’m really shocked there’s a single complaint about this. Yes, I got in and I’m happy to stress test this and give feedback. I consider it a service to the community and the game. For those unhappy, think of it this way, what we’re doing over those 2 hrs get’s erased the moment we log out. Meanwhile, YOUR 2 hours spent in game you get to keep. So you could be that much farther ahead of us in wealth, in ranks, toward a Legendary, etc.
Here’s a question, can we play in both of the 2 hr sessions or only one of the other? Also, is there a list of what’s available in the beta? Is it PvE content only. Can we play Strong hold or the WvW maps? Can we reroll the character during the test?
Just some thoughts in advance.
I agree with OP.
Remove Longbow and Shortbow from Ranger’s weapon set.
It’s the only way to fix rangers. If that they only way, they might as well remove most/all the weapons, fix the pet system and rename the profession beastmaster. Then people would still complain and get it banned from spvp.
I’m all for it if we get like3-4 Pets and we get a shield. This way we can afk/derp like a turret Engi on points. Or, how about give Spirits1-2k AA’s and then they don’t even have to create anything. Just remove the weapons and give us a shield.
a WHOLE lots of builds and weapon skills need a nerf before Ranger. Do you see Rangers as a meta build? Please, if you are going to go by annoying or “unfun” then turret engi and mesmer comes first. Make that Thieves need a nerf first even.

Woot! I’m in! TY TY
We have indeed noticed performance issues on the latest release.
We performed optimizations on our post processing effect pipeline, which were released on Wednesday. Our guys also put a lot of hard work optimizing the new camera collision code. These changes were released yesterday.
Although these changes have improved performance we still haven’t solved the issue you guys are experiencing.
We have top men working it right now and we will get to the bottom of this! Thanks you guys for your patience.
+1 +1 +1 for “Top Men” That’s just an awesome post!
Looks like a dude
An alien one….
What Necro needs most is a f kitten HEAL that WORKS when you hit the key. Not a heal that takes WAY too long to activate. Seriously, I die so many times due to the heal not going off fast enough.
I’m at a loss, are these Llama’s given out weekly? Or, is it one for the entire 8 weeks? How would one have enough to forge if you only get one?
I have no idea how difficult it is going to be to break into the top 500 OP. I’m assuming it’s going to be pretty difficult. Though there is an RNG factor to it. Since you have no control over whom the opposing team is.
What does it take
Patience…..
The one which I find most offensive is RETREAT.. Friendly forces NEVER shout retrea
I used to LOVE using shouts during the LA invasion. Right at the end, when you HAD to run out of LA or die, I’d pop “Retreat” and then when closer to the portal “Save Yourselves!”. OP, maybe you should L2RP
On a serious note, yes I completely agree with Anet needing to fix this bug. I posted in the proper “bug” forums shortly after the patch about this sound bug.
P2W my not have been the best of terms for the OP to have used. Though we all should admit, it is a bit odd that some Trinkets and Armor are gated behind the LS. That new players have to pay gems for what we received for free. Either the LS episodes should be free or that the vendor unlocks be removed. This way new players can play content and unlock the Armor and trinkets today.
So how do we fix this? Let’s take a look at the BEST DESIGNED currency in the game, Guild Merits. Before anyone mentions how it is bad for small guilds, I’m not talking about acquisition here, I’m talking about hoarding and spending it (acquisition could use some work for small guilds, that’s NOT my point)
No and exactly because acquisition for small guilds is near impossible. Guild Merits are one of the WORST design currencies in game for this. Why, because of the limitations on acquisition, the capping of them, and especially because there is no exchange available for them. What the game needs is a currency exchange. Badges, crest, tokens, karma, and all other currencies should be on a commodities exchange. This way we can convert karma to tokens, tokens to crest, Crest to karma or whatever we want to, especially Guild Merits.
I also do not see a problem with players hoarding. Nor, do I see a problem with players being able to max out a Guild Hall in one day. Besides the fact that the gating comes from build timers as well as currency.
I purposely throw every bl chest I get in the trash in defiance of their broken RNG/gambling system. Sometimes when i’m bored I will buy some off the tp just to throw them away. You learned your lesson my friend. Don’t ever gamble with those chests unless you are prepared to get zero return off them.
Accepting that the RNG sucks may be a better way of dealing with this than throwing them away. I like to reroll alts and have a couple of character slots I reroll occasionally. The key’s I get from this I use and just accept the drops for what they are. The RNG is pure gambling and I never chase after them. Though at least I’m going to use them when the game gives me the opportunity during regular game play.
Yes, AC’s are now broken in WvW. No, Anet does not give a rats bum about WvW. And no, there was no “windowed” mode that allow an AC to shoot THAT far over a wall. There’s a reason why it’s referred to as a zoom hack.
Teragriff’s are what makes me very worried about the new WvW maps. When the dev’s create something as buggie as the Teragriff’s, I have serious doubts about any future NPC’s. When Teragriff’s bug out, lagged out, or whatever causes this, they leave a non visible line or a spec of a line that one shots players. Then, as mentioned above, the knock back from the rush attack extends so far beyond the creatures body that it’s a very poor experience.
I completely agree with the Vertical slider being far too limited. I’ve been asking for one since launch so I’m happy to see it. Though, in my mind, it went from the bottom of my character to slightly above my character. Basically covering the full range of my character. While zoomed in it appears to only shift the camera position 4 or 5 inches on my human. I was like, “that’s it???”
Wondering what everyone has been using for their camera settings? Post a screen shot of your settings if you’d like to share them.
A silly but increasingly annoying is the floating mini map. Please put it BACK down against the leveling bar. And, remove those black ends to the leveling bar. They add nothing but make eye sores out of the bottom corners.
I wouldn’t mind but, the bottom of the mini map isn’t even in line with the chat box.
I like the changes and adjustments. For me, I’m very sensitive to FoV and camera settings. I just can’t seem to get it set right. Every few minutes I’m stopping to tweak setting over and over. Seems the vertical adjustment is very limited when zoomed all the way in. Yet, when zoomed out there’s a lot of swing to it.
“1) Create new character, I choose Human.
2) Finish the very first intro mission.
3) See you have unlocked 80% of all the Hall of Monument achievements and got the GWAMM title.
For extra oddness, delete the character and repeat the steps, now you will have a Hall Of Monuments Portal Stone in your inventory.”Just pulled this kitten from bug forums…
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Bugs-from-16th-Patch/page/2
Well there you have it gw1 players. A testament to your endurance and faith in Anet all of these years. Now every new, unlinked account will be walking around with gwamm titles.
As coincidence would have it, I did roll a before the patch today. Though just did the first mission and nothing at all happened.
I keep hearing character sounds like, “Retreat”, “I fashioned a Turret”, “Shake it off”, “Hit them with Speed”, “A little Help”, etc. from across the map. My female character, a Necro, is even mouthing these phrases from the other races, gender’s, and professions from across the map.
Please, must fix this for those of us that actually play with sound on.
Been asking for the Vertical camera position slider for a very long time. Very happy to see it and hoping they can add much more to this control. Right now it appears to be very little in adjustment when zoomed in. The set to character height appears to be set too high as well. Though good changes which can get even better with some tweaks.
From my experience, there appears to be some form of an “on Hit” damage effect to the Dragon. It may be some form of scaling or equalizing to help balance the fight. Some skills, mostly the rapid attacks, seemed to work as well as my more powerful AoE’s.

Why are so few GMs in WvW?
Surprisingly, the Worlds do a pretty good job of policing themselves. We have moderators and staffer’s like myself that field complaints and help resolve issues on my World. Ironically enough, the threat of siege trolling is the only real deterrent I have to keep the peace sometimes. It’s my in game version of my Mom’s wooden spoon. Oh… Micheal, can we get a “Mom’s Wooden Spoon” added in game please? lol Oh and I haven’t even had to pull that threat out of the draw in 2 years so, I’m pretty pleased.
Anyways, I’m happy to see the dev’s coming in and helping with griever’s and especially the hacker’s. You have one of those jobs Michael that rewards you by requiring you less. So if it’s quiet in game and you aren’t getting complaints, then you know you’ve done a good job.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
You mean I can actually replace the falling damage trait, finally?!?!?!?! After dealing with trolly’ish players, this had to be the second most annoying thing in game. To die in 0.4 seconds just because you were moving in a straight line on a decline.
GJ Dev’s!
LOL… I do not understand why a person ever thought they SHOULD be able to run through 5 or more times their numbers with impunity? Stability has been OP since launch. Sorry to see that that reality has smacked you around so hard today. We all knew the nerf was coming.
btw. for the blob comment, more number’s of equally geared and leveled players should always have a high probability of winning an engagement. Again, its the reality of the situation.
Doing this on these new maps is not an option since you need to defend your objectives
Lets face it, EOTM could be so much more fun if people would have a reason to defend objectives there.
For these two quotes, I’d like to answer that with a question, why? Why do we “need” to defend and what is our “reason” for doing so???? Just pointing out the biggest issue with WvW, it’s all meaningless. The lack of physical rewards, the lack of back story to Worlds, and the lack of community, it all leads to a lack of attachment and meaning. The concept and community of Worlds is what needs work, not so much the maps themselves. It’s why EotM is a light hearted loot map, because there’s no meaning beyond it. Now, I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that. There should be an EotM like place in game just as it is now. Well, maybe a little less easy to defend since it’s too easy to troll. But, EotM is in a good place otherwise.
What the Dev’s should be thinking of is, how can we give them a place, here on the forums and in game, to help them build their Worlds.
(edited by DeWolfe.2174)
Do you think people would use it? I mean, I can see PvE players coming there for convenience (not having to WP), but when I want to craft and chat with random people, the megaserver LA is good enough for me. Even in the old LA, there weren’t many discussion about WvW. Only call to arms (which I kinda miss) to defend certain keeps.
The old LA is missed, yes. I think the upper tier worlds would get a lot of use out of a World Map. Simply do to the act that we have the WvW population to fill it. I truly believe what’s missing in WvW is the sense of community. This idea, of having a place of our own, would help build that. Heck, wasn’t too long after launch I was asking for a WvW boot camp map for each world. That fell on deaf ears too.
Since the Mega Server went into effect, Worlds have needed a place of their own. How about using the Alpine map as our servers Home World Map? Even if it’s just the Citadel to North camp portion of the map. This way we can all get together to buy, sell, bank, craft, organize, and communicate with each other. Consider it like what LA once was for our Worlds.
Certainly wouldn’t take much to do this when the map already exists.
However, what WvW really needs (and has for a long time) is something to address the huge disparities between server populations. Otherwise, the experience is fun some weeks and just plain frustrating and boring the rest.
What WvW has needed for a long time is a reason to win, a reason to fight for, and a reason to care about ones World. By looking at the history and changes to WvW, I’m thinking we’re not far off from going Green, Blue, and Red too.
Being able to communicate cross server has it’s very ups and very downs. Usually if someone goes out of their way to message, it’s for a reason. May of the times I’ve sent or received messages it’s been positive.
0/10 for zero respect. We all know the FR keep is ludicrously easy to defend. Making a video of it is like having pride for 1111111 at a world boss. This video should be in the PvE section for gameplay…
I’d be fine if salvaging destroyed the item and gave me my upgrades back. No need for anything else else like materials. Unless salvaging gave back like 20 badges or something like that. It’s all about getting my upgrades back basically.
Watching it now and thinking, WTH were they thinking? This is what happens when the Dev’s do not get their butt’s on a map and actually play WvW. Hint to the Dev’s, WvW is about “us vs them”. WvW is not about “us vs Dev” or “us vs environment”. <sigh> I really do not know what they were thinking.
For the map esthetics, god is it an ugly looking map.
For what it’s worth, among people with whom I’ve discussed the NPE, everyone wishes it was the original system
I complete and utterly reject THAT opinion. Sure, not being able to weapon swap until a couple hours into the game, seriously? The NPE unlocks for skills, utilities, and traits are ridiculously slow. There should have been a “grandfathered” where the NPE only effects, you know, NEW players. Or, better yet, the dev’s actually gave players a CHOICE around it. I growl in anger every time I re-roll a toon since the NPE.
Ranger. This needs to be removed: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Point_Blank_Shot
This skill works as intended, can’t see a single thing broken with it.
The problem is that selfish Rangers are clueless on when to use it. How detrimental it can be while playing in a group setting. It’s just creates bad blood amongst players often. Case in point, players will admit to using it to troll.
I don’t know if “most broken” and “least played” go hand in hand here.
But if I had to guess which class was least played I’d say Engineer.
To be flat honest, my Engi and Ele don’t see much use either. The reasoning is very simple for me, F1-4. If my gaming mouse had four top buttons instead of 2, I’d run them more often. I just never found a key binding I liked to run across all the professions. Those two always become a pita.
Realize some players are trying 24/7 to get into T1. So it’s going to be a challenge unless the Dev’s bump the server cap to let accounts shift around again. Just keep checking during off hours. You can run a single character around to use the account. Don’t put anything that’s not expendable on the character. You’ll likely delete the character in a panicked state when you see the server finally available.
if Gw2 wants to become an esport, twitch is the most powerful avenue to make that a possibility
Games become popular from having good content that people actually play. Watching someone else play has very little impact on a games success. And, if say you can watch while playing, then the content isn’t very engaging for both of them.
3. New PVP map (Incorrect)
4. Mastery System (Incorrect) / They will have partial access.WvW players might not have access to the new WvW map but ehh just live on EB and kill away.
WvW map will be on a rotation, and you will not need the expansion to play it.
If you have a link to that confirmation I’ll edit it.
I think it was in the interview with Jebro. https://youtu.be/Ucihndtkmcs?t=7m30s around here.
Editted cheers.
Even as someone who’s planning on buying several of the Xpacs for my accounts, my level of hype tanked a bit after watching this video.
Considering the Dev’s put that Quaggan Beggar in Dry Top, I can’t blame any player for doing the same thing. For our resources, I do not question the good nature of of some people. The fact that people like to share with those in need is a good quality. What I don’t understand is the reasoning behind giving to those whom have more than you. Like giving to streamers whom are likely far wealthier in real life. That behavior is something to shake our heads at.
Erased my wall of text and simply going to say to the dev’s, put the importance of a worlds into “World vs World” please? All the dev’s seem to do is reduce what a world can be or should be. The OP’s suggestion is essentially the end of world vs world. Thus this thread shouldn’t be labelled “WvW”.
