Here’s the thing about rollback, while I think removing the title from those who haven’t earned it may be viable, I think trying to deduct achievement points may be disastrous to attempt. Some people may have crossed thresholds where they got achievement chests, they may have already spent the laurels, karma, gold, perhaps even gems, used some of the items or put some on the TP

You can’t take those back, and if you take the points away, you allow them to earn a second achievement chest.

IMO, let the achievement points stay, and add them as daily achievement points (eventually they will cap out on those anyway), and remove the title.

This avoids them earning a second chest at that achievement level, while still taking away the prestige title. Getting an achievement chest early is probably the least amount of damage done in the long run.

I think it’s funny to see how many ppl complain about not getting into the hom right now….. what would they possibly wanna do there? Good thing the crash to desktop is around i guess.

I use the HoM stone to have a safe place to idle where I can go right back to where I was. So I’m a bit miffed that I can’t use the HoM. I’ve had over 30/50 before HoM rewards were even announced.

Is this like a random thing or is it as soon as you make a character?

Some people got it just for making characters and completing the tutorial, without doing anything sketchy. On a day when they released a patch with new Black Lion weapon skins and key farming is common. They shouldn’t ban people over it because they’re going to catch a LOT of people who were just key farming for a shadow weapon in the process.

Why is silk going up in price?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Devildoc.6721

Devildoc.6721

Hm. What I find strange, is that John Smith posted on here, but only to comment on the validity of the thread, rather than the topic itself.

Is this an issue ArenaNet doesn’t care about, or is it just something they’re aware of, but don’t want to discuss right now?

It is something they are well aware of, and in fact John Smith said several times in various threads about the matter, that Silk was intentional and is working as intended. He also said in regards to player perception of a broken economy, that he doesn’t care. So from those type of statements that he already has made, one can reasonablly assume that in rergards to silk pricing is: that it is fine, its working like it should, and he doesn’t care about the misconception of silk being overpriced.

he said he doesnt care if players are unsatisfied with economy? really?

Question:
Do you care/will do something about the fact game economy is really perceived as broken?
Or if you instead think its well perceived, why don’t you look at every single thread that had the luck to remain for few hours in general section?

There were many threads about how important economy perception is in a videogame.

If by “really perceived” you mean that you mistakenly perceive a fantastic and functioning system as broken, then no… I don’t care.

i dont think this means he doesnt care if players are unsatisfied, merely that he doesnt care if that particular player thinks the economy is broken.

but i could be wrong, perhaps you are right, and he doesnt care.

That statement is taken out of context. Obviously I care about how the community feels about the economy, my activity on these forums should be proof of that. That individual I was speaking to was being intentionally antagonistic.

John can we please get some clarification as to why it takes double the amount of Silk Bolts for ascended materials as everything else?

Why is silk going up in price?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Devildoc.6721

Devildoc.6721

Sounds to me like two independent issues being discussed.
1. Aggregate price for silk and market velocity
2. Farming for individual mats is hard

I would argue that these issues aren’t actually related and shouldn’t be discussed as if they were.

I think the biggest issue at hand is that it takes twice as much silk (100 silk bolts vs 50 thick leather, 50 mithril ingots, and 50 elder wood planks) as the other Tier 5 mats required to make the ectoplasm refinement materials. Please explain to us why this is the case when the only source of silk is breaking down light armor drops, where you can get mithril and elder wood from mining/chopping down trees AND salvaging. It’s easier to get the other mats AND you need less of them.

If you only needed 50 bolts of silk to make the starter mat for damask it would be more balanced (though still more expensive because like I said, there are fewer ways to get silk than mithril or elder wood).

You could possibly alleviate more of the difference by making bolts of silk require 2 scraps each rather than 3.

About splitting ques: TDM - Stronghold

in PvP

Posted by: Devildoc.6721

Devildoc.6721

I don’t think TDM should be split from que… if there isn’t at least 3-4 other maps for it. People simply won’t cater to the (probable) higher que times, the same map over and over, etc. The population for this one single map simply isn’t there, for it to deserve it’s own que.
It’s indeed a refreshing change of pace from the same 50 straight conquest games; more people like it than hate it. On that note, more people probably rather play Courtyard than Skyhammer, but I’m no Dev, I don’t have the vote numbers.

Stronghold – being a completely different gamemode entirely – having different mechanics – deserves it’s own gamemode. The population is going to be there; people are demanding to play it.
It’s not just some new map you can simply combine with Conquest’s que. It isn’t like Courtyard.

Maybe (and that’s a big maybe) could you set it up as majority vote to play Conquest or Stronghold. In like… 4 months down the road.. where the hype dies down and people aren’t ragequitting (as much).
My 2 copper.

They should just make a handfull of TDM maps and a handfull of stronghold maps and each have their own ques, or frankly, even just having their own queue for that 1 map would be fine. It worked just fine for Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry, people queued up for those because they wanted to play that specific game mode.

Now for TDM, just take a page from GW1. They had several TDM maps and most didn’t really have gimmicks they were just different layouts but there were some gimmicks to a few maps like obelisks in an Ascalon map, the sharp coral in the Jade Sea map and aside from the “wipe the enemy team” style game they had the “get more kills in a time limit” objective. Right now we have the “get x many kills first” with courtyard, you can have another map where it’s a straight “wipe the enemy team” possibly and another where it would be getting more kills within a time limit.

If you had enough maps to support the mode, I think there are people who would prefer TDM style of play to conquest. It would just be at least they could pick the builds and characters they were comfortable with in that mode rather than randomly winding up in a TDM match with a conquest character/build.

#1. The map only supports 5v5. That’s not big enough for a gvg, should at least be 8v8, if not more.

Their plan wasn’t GvG :/

#2. The mode is not on a separate queue.

This is a valid point I think.
Stronghold sounds ENTIRELY different from Conquest. I really do agree that it should be in a separate queue. That’s like going into HotM and queuing for an sPVP match, and then you get thrown into Edge of the Mists. Yes, it’s PVP but it’s very different.

Yeah, I mean there are times when I’d love to play a TDM match but when all but 1 of the maps are conquest, I make builds based on conquest, where there’s more 1v1 fighting and rarely more than 3v3, where aoe isn’t so godly, where a shatter mesmer can do pretty well. TDM it’s a straight up 5v5, and in courtyard particularly there’s a lot of small spaces and chokes that make AOE absolutely amazing in that map.

So you can’t really queue up with an aoe build hoping for the RNG to pick Courtyard Twice.

Anet just screwed up horribly with that.

#1. The map only supports 5v5. That’s not big enough for a gvg, should at least be 8v8, if not more.

#2. The mode is not on a separate queue.

This is the same mistake Anet made on the TDM map, Courtyard. The reason people dislike Courtyard Anet, is because you have it on the same queue as Conquest.

People DO like different modes of play, but different modes of play have different builds and classes that people feel effective with in those modes. People pick their build BEFORE queuing, not doing a 1 minute timer to try to throw something together before they hit “ready”

Because of this, stronghold will be just like courtyard, IE people won’t like to do it other than custom arenas, because it plays so different from conquest and they won’t feel able to change builds in time (thanks to no template saver), and they’ll demand that it be removed from ranked.

HUGE HUGE HUGE mistake.

and I was really looking forward to Stronghold too.

You completely blew it
You dropped the ball

In GW1 people liked PVP more than they do in GW2 because you had a multitude of game modes and they were all on separate queues.

You could CHOOSE whether you wanted to do TDM (RA or TA, which is solo and team queues), or JQ, or FA, or GvG, or Codex Arena, or Heroe’s Ascent. That’s great, you don’t get bored because there’s so many different ways to play PVP and you can always just choose a different mode.

Here you try to lump them all together. What are you thinking?

Prior to launch, we used to have a launcher that was full screen, that was animated (sort of anyway), and with music.

At launch they ditched that for the current launcher to highlight their stupid “news” that we can get by just going on the GW2 website anyway, but there was the command line arguement to -useoldlauncher that worked for a short while.

Then it was disabled, and everyone was forced to use the more boring static launcher.

There’s already a PVP centered twitch stream, it’s called “Ready Up”

The past several “Points of Interest” which are supposed to be PVE oriented streams, have devoted considerable time to sPVP.

I mean, I wouldn’t mind coverage of something like a wvw tournament or something along that lines for POI, but sPVP? sPVP has its own dedicated stream.

I mean I was watching the stream for more info on HoT, maybe some more detail on masteries considering we had a blog post about them yesterday, instead they cut off halfway to talk about how to mute map chat to not hear toxic players in sPVP.

and that’s when I close the window and stop paying attention to the stream.

Frankly from as little info as was talked about, I don’t know why I paid attention to the first half.

How about talk in the stream about what players are expected to do for the interim months between now and HoT? There won’t be any more big LS updates so.. are you really expecting us to keep interest in the game based on “EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESPOOOOOOOOOOOOOORTZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ”? You know, the least popular game mode in the game that you keep trying to shove down our throats?

"Skill Grind" Can Be Worse Than "Gear Grind"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Devildoc.6721

Devildoc.6721

What we know by now:

  • HoT will have no level cap increase and no new armour tier, with the reasoning of keeping old content alive.
  • HoT will be bringing Masteries to both new maps and old ones (including Fractals).
  • You won’t be able to complete certain challenges until you get specific Masteries.
  • The new maps will be focusing on smaller areas with deeper, more replayable content, instead of larger but emptier regions.

So how is “gear grind” actually different from the “skill grind” we will be getting?

Gear & Level Grind

  • You are not able to complete certain challenges until you get the new levels and the new armour.
  • In GW2, you can level by doing (almost) anything you like, when you like, how you like.
  • In GW2, you can earn gold for craftable/buyable gear by doing (almost) anything you like, when you like, how you like.
  • In GW2, you can still come back and do low-level content thanks to automatic downscaling (which could [or could not] use some tweaking, but that’s another topic).

Skill Grind

  • You are not able to complete certain challenges until you get the new skills (“Masteries”).
  • In GW2, to unlock character traits, you have to do an enormous list of random tasks, or pay a hefty sum of gold and skillpoints. You have to grind the same tasks over and over again for each character. Until you acquire traits, you cannot start actually playing what you want and instead do what you’re told.
  • In GW2, to unlock LS achievements and then get them and the exclusive rewards tied to them, you have to grind specific content over and over again until you succeed. You cannot buy it with gold or other currencies (the official way at least, from the game, not LFG sellers). You are out of luck if you are not there to group up with the people who know what to do in the first days.
  • Traits and achievements feel like a “must do” list of chores which nag you until you finish them.

So will the new “revolutionary” progression system be actually better? I’m not sure.

Instead, I’m afraid that with the two camps of “no level cap/gear grind!” and “more character progression!” players we had, we’ve drawn ourselves into a trap which could be worse than the new Trait system and NPE combined.

Disclaimer: I’m not advocating for gear grind or level cap increase; I’m just voicing concern that with the current policy of making people grind more and more for everything, gear grind and level cap might have actually been a more user-friendly solution.

Masteries change the way you play the game and open up new options of things to do and places you can go.

Gear just adds numbers, it doesn’t change gameplay that much aside from change how easy or hard it is.

So yes, it’s better and more interesting.

I’ve always wanted an MMO with Zelda/Metroid like upgrades that allow you to go new places.

I was excited when in SWTOR you can get a magnetic hookshot, but it’s used in only 2 places in the entire game, so it’s kind of lame.

Besides the main problem of getting a new level cap with higher level gear is that it’s a RESET, like, you go from level 80 with ascended/legendary gear, and go to level 81 or at the very latest level 85 (at least in other games you were replacing end game raid gear within 5 levels of the new expansion) greens (maybe even blues), go up to 90 or 100 in greens and blues and then get yellows, then golds, and then start the ascended grind all over again….. just to get back to where you used to be.

Doesn’t feel like progression it feels like you got demoted and had to catch back up.

It’s kind of insulting and feels like we wasted all of our time getting the good gear we had at the previous cap when it is outpaced so early on and people who barely got to the cap before and didn’t even bother gearing up are on the same foot as us who put in considerable time and money investment into improving our characters beyond hitting the level cap.

World of Warcraft, characters who hit 60 and then just did nothing until TBC were on the same foot as full Tier 3 Raid geared characters who’d spent the last 2 years progressing through Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Ahn Qiraj, and Naxxramas, with hours and hours of wiping and repair bills that forced them to spend their off days doing nothing but grinding gold and consumables for their next raid night, all that effort is wasted as they went to vendor/shard their tier 3 epics to put on their new quest green they got at level 62.. standing next to them is some dude who got to level 60 just yesterday, and has never been in a dungeon much less a raid.

All that effort just evaporated into nothing.

Don’t defend that.

Masteries sound a lot more interesting than bland stat increases anyway.

Armor repair has no purpose anymore

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Devildoc.6721

Devildoc.6721

IMO, the way to do it is to make armor lose half its stats on being damaged, so upon dying once, you do take a hit to your stats rather than getting 6 free deaths before it starts to impact you, but it’d be gradual, small losses.

Armor repairs still free or, bring back armor costs, remove waypoint costs, or make waypoint to waypoint travel free (as it is in TESO).

I find traveling around to be worse than armor repair costs ever were, especially with the daily event completers.. since most the events people call out don’t scale up enough they’re done before you can reach them.

IIRC armor repairs USED to be fairly pricey enough to discourage people from even playing certain content like dungeons or WvW where they could anticipate dying a few times if they were inexperienced and the repair bill would be something like 40s (and this was on level 20something characters)

But they were toned down considerably before the game actually launched and were only a few silver per death or something like that.

Armor repairs aside from at that time in beta have never really been a real issue.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Devildoc.6721

If it’s free now then why is it even a thing in the first place?

I could understand that in the past it could be used as a cash sink so people couldn’t endlessly try doing something that was above their ability’s. especially in dungeons this would create some pressure so you would keep yourself from dying to limit the repair costs. but if you’re going to throw that concept out of the window then why uphold the concept of armor repair at all?

It’s meant as a bit of a temporary death penalty, similar to GW1’s but with a lot more leeway. You don’t start losing stats until you’ve died 6 times without repairing.

They could take the repair anvils out of the beginning of the dungeon I suppose

I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a fee, I’m saying that the fee should have a reasonable cap.

10g or so is a reasonable cap for the out of pocket up front fee.

Not really when it comes to high priced items.

I’m only talking about the up front cost, the total gold taxed would still be the same, basically the up front cost would be capped and the rest of what the listing price WOULD have been over the cap is taken from the sale instead.

You’d have fewer people selling over chat and LFG if that were the case.

Then again all i do is farm materials to sell.

The things that people use LFG to sell are usually fully made legendaries, occasionally precursors. Precursors can cost over 50g to list, Legendaries can be in the hundreds of gold to list.

Then there’s the worst part. If you list and then people start repeatedly undercutting you, you may not sell.

Before you say “just sell to the highest buy order”

Buy orders can be lowballed by almost 1000g on legendaries. Nobody wants to lose out on 1000g to speculators who are generally just looking to relist for profit.

Screw those market manipulators.

Selling items using the LFG Tool is a very bad idea. The tool was not intended for that purpose, and those who use it are not protected from scams, rip-offs, and general heartbreak.

Sure, if someone rips you off and CS can verify it, they’ll take action against the scammer. But they cannot return the item.

I know I sound all rah-rah when I say “Use the TP” but I’m a player too, and I pay the fees, and darn it, it’s a small price to pay — literally — to avoid the ripoffs that happen when someone decides to take a risk to avoid the fees.

Today is one example of the badness of using the LFG Tool: I got a very heartfelt PM this afternoon from someone who had The Flameseeker Prophecies — yes, a bloomin’ Flameseeker! — stolen from him by a scammer using the LFG Tool to identify potential victims. He knows now and will never forget: You should never, ever, ever use the LFG tool for trades.

Whether it’s the two-copper piece of junk or the legendary of your dreams, please sell it through the safe, secure, and intended methods offered within the game.

Here’s the one problem though Gaile, the listing fees.

Some people can’t afford to list an expensive item they get, it can cost 50 gold or more to list an item you might have gotten as a drop There should be a cap on listing fees and the rest would just be taken out of sale profits.

We already have this in place – it’s called “sell to highest buy offer”.
The reason the marketplace has such fees attached to it are to curb inflation (it’s a gold sink counter-acting the endless stream of gold that gets pumped into the system daily by killing mobs and selling trash back to the store), which benefits all players, especially the poorer ones.

Selling to highest buyer still has a fee, and to add onto that, buyers lowball items pretty severely a lot of times.

I dunno, a cap of say 10g listing fee.

I know when I mystic forged a precursor I could barely afford it’s 58g listing fee.

I was completely broke until it sold.

No level increase

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Devildoc.6721

Devildoc.6721

I am curious to know what my fellow forum goers think about the lack of level increase. I have never been a big fan of the conventional leveling system in MMOs but I feel like this may not be a popular opinion. I was a bit sad to find out that GW2 had a level cap of 80 when I got it but was relieved to find each level took about the same amount of time. So the big question is…

How do you feel about ANET not raising the level cap with the expansion?

Best decision they’ve ever made. Level cap increases are just an illusion of progression, not actual progression. Horizontal progression is actual progression because the mobs never scale up in level, you just gain more abilities to deal with them. The only way to gauge “progression” in most games with a new cap is to go back to zones with the old cap and kill grey mobs., but in GW2 that doesn’t really work because of downscaling. It also causes content replacement rather than content expansion. I guarantee you when this expansion is even a few months old, there will be people in FGS, Silverwastes, and Orr, because that content will still be valid level cap content. Those tier 6 materials you can mine there or get as drops will still have uses. We will just have new zones on top of what we already have to ALSO do content in.

Horizontal progression also allows for more differentiation between different characters. When everything is vertical, all characters of the same class are essentially the same, in TBC WoW all warriors in Tier 6 guilds basically all looked the same, had same talents same gear, the only thing different was their races.

Here we have cosmetics that allow for individuality, and different utility skills/builds (yes many people use cookie cutter builds but I often find myself substituting a utility or heal slot skill that is not used in the cookie cutter because I find it fits my playstyle better), and now masteries and specializations will further differentiate people. Not every ranger will want to go druid.

I think the two most forward thinking MMO’s on the market right now are GW2 and TESO, both games are going for alternate advancement/horizontal progression systems instead of level cap raises.

Stronghold isnt GvG

It sounds like GW1 GvG to me. Push into the enemy stronghold (or as it was in GW1, their guild hall/invading team’s forward command/ship), and push to kill the guild lord.

OP sounds like you have never done GvG because it wasn’t a death match it was pushing to kill the other guild’s guild lord in the guild hall map.

Seriously though, why not? If you know how to play and adapt your class to the given map/team comp/opposition team’s comp, well, this shouldn’t be an issue to all the esports pre-mades.

We still have Forest and Foefire…one bad, or out of place, player can throw a decent match in a heartbeat. (i.e. players going and dying to the npc’s)

And for all the kittens that’ll kitten about Skyhammer…the big red circle hurts, keep you back against the wall, or go mid, or bring stability. Adapt and overcome.

Hell, bring back Capricorn and let’s test these skills all around.

Variety…the spice of life…and the ‘meta-negater’!

No thanks, screw skyhammer. The thing completely unbalances team fights and certain classes can camp the hammer almost unopposed. Stick a necro up there and you’re probably not going to be able to break them off of it, they’ll just fear people off the side.

It’s not silverwastes related, it’s related to the xp buff they gave. The crashes started happening right when that was enabled.

Raising Level Cap?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Devildoc.6721

I just want to point out that every expansion for every game I have seen that has featured a level cap increase, the bulk of development attention went into the level cap increase and content to level with.

You generally had fewer dungeons available at end game in the expansion than you used to at the old cap, you got fewer new skills, fewer new raids, PVP improvements got sidelined, because they had to make sure there was enough content to comfortably get to the new cap.

That’s where all their investment of development time and money went.

Leveling zones.

It’s a complete and utter waste of resources too because within 2 weeks all those zones they spent so much time and money on are empty because they were just used to level up in.

Even as good as The Burning Crusade was as an Expansion with it’s 2 tiers of raids launched with the expansion and clusters of dungeons, and new races and letting each faction have what used to be a faction exclusive class adding more depth to group content, and the flying mounts and all.. a lot of it felt like wasted development time. After a week the first 4 zones were almost completely empty and everyone just hung out in Shattrath city doing Karazhan and dungeon runs.

An entire continent nearly ghost towned in 2 weeks.

That’s sad that developers spent millions of man hours on that.

I’d rather devote that time and money to things that will be used all the time, level cap zones with great events and world bosses, dungeons, PVP and WvW improvements, more skills, more trait variety, new skins, new legendaries, maybe a new race and new class.

Which ore/lumber is your limiting factor?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Devildoc.6721

Devildoc.6721

Soft wood.

I mean I don’t make ascended armor, so I’m not too limited on cloth, if I had to pick a cloth that was giving me problems it’d be wool really, because you need 20 per bolt of damask.

Soft wood as OP said, requires 4 logs per plank which is just stupid, which means to make your daily spiritwood plank you need 80 logs, which is more than you can get chopping down trees in an entire zone, and there are no “rich” saplings like there are ore nodes. I can do my iron requirements just by hopping to a few guaranteed spawns of rich iron nodes that reset every day, I do the same for platinum, and hard and seasoned wood I need a lot less, I can get all I need from Bloodtide coast + a few trees in Sparkfly fen that are on the way to a rich platinum I grab.

at about 8s per plank I can’t afford to just keep buying soft wood either.

I’m for raising level , why ? simply , because you are all boring when you cry for your lvl 80 , almost three years playing and we ’re more boring because the game does not progress , only progress in cosmetics , veteran players need progress in levels and new weapons levels , new equipment and new lvl 80+ maps , and if you dont like levels? dont level up, take all your cosmetic items and shut up. I have LEGENDARY AND ascended GEAR so what , should i use it 2 years more? I dont care i need progress, i dont need achivement points

There are literally dozens of other MMO’s that raise their level cap regularly if you’re that kind of person who needs a treadmill and the ILLUSION of progression to keep going.

Why can’t there be a few MMO’s that DON’T have the stupid treadmill system, but focus on providing expanded CONTENT AND DEPTH instead of an endless treadmill that keeps things shallow (and in fact makes it more shallow as time goes on)

Raising Level Cap?

-What ever will people do if we don’t have a level cap raise!?-

… You know, play the game without having their gear become outdated? This is my problem with other MMO expansions; stop making the gear I worked my kitten off (or sometimes not?) out of date because of some silly idea we need to keep gaining levels to get more powerful. That’s so wrong. We can gain power through new skills/traits/weapons, and raising the level cap would make the extremely grindy ascended gear out of date. Can you imagine the nerd rage if they announced a level cap?

Not to forget that we never get really more powerful, since all the mobs of course
also are more powerfull, and in the end we just are at the same point where we
were before.

And if we indeed get more powerful, there will be masses of people crying that
everything is too easy and we should be nerfed .. or mobs should get harder.

Correct, level cap increases do not make you gain power they just create the illusion of gaining more power, especially in this game where you get downscaled to content. If you’re level 80 in exotics you will be just as powerful as a level 100 in exotics of the same stat balance but higher stats when you go to a level 20 zone.

In other games, people will say that you became more powerful because when you go to a low level zone you will blow up mobs just that much faster at the new cap.

In this game you won’t.

The “progression” is 100% an illusion in GW2.

Raising Level Cap?

Every time this topic comes up, I think of Nigel Tufnel’s amplifier.

I would prefer the levels stay where they are. Every level cap raise that I’ve experienced (apart from those made very early on in a game’s lifespan) has been unpleasant. The most recent example being STO, with the cap going up to 60 and the introduction of tier 6 ships. My desire to boldly go has suffered a warp core breach. LOTRO? I don’t even know what the cap is now. I still play occasionally, but not enough to ever have a max level character there before the sun enters its red giant phase. The bear guys are funny, though. If only they could use bows…

Anyway, I’d rather see GW2 get broader than taller.

PS: please to be redesigning the trait system redesign.

I’d rather GW2 get deeper than broader or taller.

The game lacks any real depth. All damage is the same, armor vs damage is all the same regardless of source, there really are no roles aside from damage, reflects, and might stacking, dungeons are more reflex testing than anything thoughtful or actually challenging

Well with TESO actually going B2P and DROPPING their level cap (removing veteran system in place of a Diablo III Paragon level style system) I know what I’ll be doing if HoT announces a level cap raise

Has B2P on tESO been confirmed?
Source?

It’s confirmed, go to the TESO website. I’ll probably get infracted and post removed if I link it.

Devildoc: don’t play unranked if you don’t want to play on Skyhammer. Ranked has the same rewards and the matchmaking is the same.

Well, my main issue with not playing ranked, is that I’m not playing sPVP for competition, but just casually, to have a little fun and earn some rewards (it only stays fun for a few matches before I get bored too). I figure that ranked will be much more competitive, which doesn’t appeal to me at all, especially if it involves a more toxic community, that and, because I’m not really competitive about it’ I’m worried about doing poorly and screwing up someone else’s rank that IS taking it seriously. If there are actual consequences to losing, I don’t want to be a bad teammate. If there are no consequences for losing (such as unranked), I don’t care, because if they picked skyhammer I don’t want to be their teammate anyway.

You don’t have to be near the boss to get the reward, even if you WP back and are on your way back when it ends, you get the credit if you did enough before you died. So don’t stay just because you want to get the reward.

It does suck that the WP is so far in this case but I personally feel like a mooch if I just lie there on my lazy kitten waiting for others to drop the fight and get me up (because I was stupid and died), ergo, I run back every time I die, unless there’s a huge zerg that can rez a fully-dead person in seconds. Which is not the case in SW.

Although I sure would like some confirmation from ANet how scaling & being dead actually works. What’s the timer on the downscale/upscale? Can we stop shaming deads who refuse to WP or keep pressuring them?

It takes longer to run back than it takes to get ressed, even in combat. That’s why I generally won’t WP back.

It’s a complete insult that they added the skritt tunnels to alleviate the travel problems in Silverwastes, but locked the skritt tunnels behind an event that takes longer than the run back it’s supposed to save time on.

Basically the Dev who thought that up is a grade A rear orifice.

This is the reason why so many unexperienced players play in Ranked Arena runining the gameplay of experienced players. Cause they dont want to play on kitten maps like Skyham, Spirit Watch or Courtyard, and cause they also want to see the Standard Models.

And sadly all this is only abailable in Ranked Arena.

I’m of the opinion that Unranked Arena should not have any of those maps and should include also the Standard Models.

If people want to play those maps, then please go play them in Hot Join.

Or lets say more clearly: Unranked Arena should be the same as Ranked Arena expecpt for the Ladder Point gain part.

I can tolerate spirit watch, and while I think Courtyard should be not in the same map selection because the game mode is entirely different, I can tolerate Courtyard. In fact I find Khylo to be my second least favorite map, though I can still tolerate playing it (Treb can function as badly as the Cancerhammer, but it’s easier to dislodge someone from it and they can’t just fear you off the edge, and you can destroy the treb and remove it from play at least for awhile, Cancerhammer cannot be destroyed so either you’re using it or someone else will)

But Skyhammer, I don’t think I’ve ever had fun in it.

Even when I played a Turret Engi in that map and just let my turrets chase off everyone who tried to take the hammer from me and I cheezed the entire match, I didn’t enjoy it. I felt cheap and dirty.
