Well, they did do a heck of a lot on redoing Sylvari armor glows and channels. And when the Whispers armor started making some parts of the trim bright red they worked to fix that. Plus newer gem store skins have a lot of color customization available.

I don’t think they’ve changed any dungeon armors since launch, though.

I’ve noted that issue on a few armors that could use more channels. AC Medium, definitely, the coat gets a bit boring to dye because it’s only 2 channels and a lot of hues look odd on the fabric part. I never bought the boots so I didn’t realize they only had one channel; the AC Light Boots have at least two, though all that’s affected by one of them is the tiny little insets.

Female Norn T1 cultural has more channels but oddly you can’t dye the embroidery or tassels so all that lovely detail melds into the main part of the dress.

And the Wizard (possessive ‘s here, silly feline filter) Hat (town clothes) can’t be dyed at all. Blech.

I’m not a techie but the only way I could see this working is if you install it on an external drive and plug that in so your computer can get at that. I think that slows down the game somehow. You certainly have to install it on some drive and keep it patched.

For gear under 80, you get them from exploring. You get 3 each time you completely explore a city, you can get them from finishing zones, occasionally you get 1 for doing your 5 dailies. You can farm them up by making an alt to explore one city (Divinity’s Reach is easiest imo, so a human), banking the stones, and deleting the alt. Not that I’ve needed to do that, with all the alts I’ve leveled the game’s given me Transmutation Stones like candy.

For gear that is level 80, you need Transmutation Crystals. Those are harder to get, though completing a level 80 zone can do it, and sometimes they come from Black Lion Chests. But if you’re going to spend money on keys to open chests, you’re better off buying the crystals directly.

Because yes, you can get both stones and crystals from the Gem Shop if you don’t want to wait for game drops.

In Edge you are assigned to the color your world is that week. So if your friends are on another server and it’s ranked differently, you’re not going to be playing with them.

I adore the sword, because rapier. I also really like the dagger, mace, scepter, torch, axe, and hammer. I’m not fond of the longbow or shortbow and the warhorn is meh. The shield is amazing but the more I look at it the more I think I’d get tired of it over time. The staff is very nice, though the same feel can be gained from the Bloody Prince’s staff.

If my thief didn’t already have a Bonetti’s and two aetherized pistols, he’d be sporting the Lovestruck in no time flat. I don’t want to cover up those skins. I’d be willing to swap out his lionguard dagger and Glimmerfang for the Lovestruck, though his current gameplay doesn’t use daggers.

That’s sort of my problem now with a lot of alts. I’ve found skins that suit them for the weapons they use most. My vari necro would rock the Lovestruck — but she has Warden weapons for a hefty hunk of karma. My human necro has the Dragon Jade staff as an IC family heirloom and some nice Pact items as alternates. My human mesmer has 2 Bonetti’s … maybe she could have a pistol? Though she uses staff as her alternate for PVE, oocly. My vari guardian already has Toy staff, Winter’s Brunt hammer, and for her normal weapons a lionguard scepter and verdant focus, along with a golden sword and Shield of the Moon. My human guardian would get the GS — but he has Cobalt!

On and on and on, I’ve already geared for looks on those where looks matter. So I have to decide and it’s so hard!

We can hope! But we won’t know until they show up, if they do.

I’m not sure. I know that when I was jumping between WoW and LotRO it wasn’t hard, but then LotRO was essentially a different skin on the same sort of controls. Otoh when I went to WoW for a day after a month in GW2, I kept breaking my casts by moving, and frantically double clicking movement to get out of aoe while my character just twitched in place — and that was after 7 years in WoW.

Keybindings can be made similar between the games. I got used to – for auto run way back in Horizons, so I bound that in WoW and every other MMO. I always move the Inventory keybind to I, etc. If you customize every game to do what you expect with particular key presses, that part of swapping is trivial.

But not being able to dodge? Ick! (also note that in WoW I used a light weight simple two button mouse with wheel, and I have a Naga HEX for GW2, which feels highly responsive in Tyria but was like wading in tar in Azeroth for no reason I could discern).

It means you only have 1 Minor Rune of Rage in your equipped gear. If you put one on another piece of gear, you’d have 2/2 and get both bonuses. Higher end ones go up to 6 in a set and you need the same one on each armor piece to get the full benefit.

Annnnnd … how do I uninstall? Just delete the folder? The game doesn’t appear in the list of programs in the Uninstaller. I test-uninstalled a few old things, Aion and Allods and Fallen Earth, and tried to uninstall DCUO but it kept erroring out. There is no Guild Wars 2 on the list however.

From how I understand the OP, you couldn’t do that. Because you’d be filling the buy order, which is for 249, using the Sell to Highest Bidder option.

I’m about ready to bite the bullet and reinstall. I posted a query in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Reinstall-game/first#post3612329 to ask about pitfalls.

I really truly don’t want to mess up the rest of the game even though the TP issue has sapped a lot of the joy out of regular play … (and I am so incredibly grateful to all who have patiently made suggestions to try to help me).

Sorry for the necro here — I likewise have come to my wits end on getting the TP to load and though Support said a reinstall is a very last resort thing, I may be at that point.

- Should I uninstall first, or could I install a second client in a new folder and play from that to test whether it fixes my issue?

- Do I need to worry about moving my saved screenshots out of the default folder?

- Are there any other pitfalls for which I should watch out? (I have taken screenshots of my keybinds and other settings, but what else might get wiped?)

That sounds fair to me. It’s not like you could default on paying, you’re guaranteed to have the gold to cover the fee as soon as the item sells and the gold will be taken from you.

Because, as noted in the gazillion threads discussing this at the time and since, the manure storm would be absolutely immense at having it only for humans unless every race got something of similar quality, which is an amount of art development for which ANet does not currently have the resources.

She might have played the game enough to earn enough gold to get skins off the TP, y’know.

It seems quite likely based on past patterns that it will go away two Tuesdays from now. Or at least that it will when the marionette is gone. There was a dev comment about the marionette remaining for as long as it makes sense for the story, but generally speaking LS content has lasted either 2 or 4 weeks.

Why wouldn’t you use the cores? Their only purpose is to make the key and enter the lair (which you only need to do once on the alt you want to take in there). And assuming you’ve been doing the marionette fights, you’ll have cyphers and those will open chests full of yellows and dragonite (if you’re 80). Plus there’s a plethora of clues to Scarlet’s intentions that are filling this forum with excited speculation.

If you don’t have the cores, just tour around to the thumpers on a few maps and get them. You only need to gather 40, you get 10 for finding the lair.

And as a general rule … it’s best to assume you have one week, and spend the first few days of new content working on it. Unless you don’t mind running out of time. Or at least to assume that the next Monday evening is your deadline for any current must-do’s.

You can get the outfit on the gem store for a small outlay in gems, which spread out over all the time you’ve played is negligible. 18 slot box? Play a few fractals, get a 20 slot one along with loot and fun.

These are not game breaking jaw dropping humongous presents, y’know.

So sorry but it’s not ok. Any macro that puts multiple key clicks on one action is an account banning offense. As a non-musical person I’d love to be able to load up songs like in LotRO but it’s not allowed in GW2. You must play manually.

At least that means if you hear someone doing a good song, you can admire their skill.

You say you checked the Chantry. Did you actually go into it? And to the entrance to the Whispers back room? Did you try going to it from a Fort Trinity portal? All those are things that have hung people up on getting that poi.

I can answer that. In WoW I played mostly a mage and a heal-priest. I loved it when I didn’t have to move. I’m also permanently sucky at PvP and can’t circle strafe. Yet after playing GW2 I felt mired in tar in WoW the one time I went back to try it. 7 years a WoW player and one month in GW2 spoiled WoW’s mechanics forever for me. I love being able to move while fighting and dodging adds such a fun action feel.

I did find it much easier when I bought a Naga HEX after the first GW2 beta and bound my movement keys to the thumb buttons. And even better when I finally bound dodge to a keyboard key for an extra option in doing it fast. I’m still not all that pro at it (see: Clocktower) but I can move quite well for the most part.

Endgame: I do RP which means there’s always stories to tell. The Living World keeps adding things to do every 2 weeks. I have friends I dungeon with just for fun. I level alts on a regular basis to try out new personae and weapon styles. It’s not endgame so much as the game doesn’t end, you can always go to lower areas and be downleveled enough to make you have to pay attention.

Gear grind: Some will claim there is one. If you really truly must have the “best” then you’ll be sinking a lot of effort into crafting. But the game is plenty viable if you just get exotics when you’re 80 (they’re pretty cheap, or you can get them with karma, or now and then get a drop). The “best” is Ascended, and I think even those who espouse the need for them concede that’s mostly when you’re going for the PvP edge in WvW. The stat change just isn’t that huge.

Armor: You can get whatever stats you want on your armor and combine that with whatever look you want (so long as it’s a weight of armor you can wear, so no frilly robes on a warrior). Then you pick your runes and sigils to add more stats and procs. And you can dye it all to the color scheme you want, assuming you can collect the dyes. Those are permanent for the character that unlocks them, no need to keep buying the color every time you change your shirt.

Sorry, yes, I checked and the Windows one is off. The infection came from me trying to load a new desktop clock when Win7 yoinked the Gadgets (temporarily, as it turned out). Instead of a clock I got some complex weather info panel, Firefox decided my new homepage was Bing, and when I scanned for malware I found a whole lot of files for something like “Public Protection” or some other sham antivirus, along with a few files with “Rogue” in their name. I uninstalled the Protection thing, the weather thing, and quarantined/deleted the malware files. Then my TP woes began. I read up on solutions, some said MalwareBytes might be actively interfering, so I uninstalled that as well (just had a free version).

SandraSolace, I looked at that linked post. I’ve already done cache deletes and MSCONFIG, I tried the language trick, nothing. In that thread there is a screenie — mine is much like that except I don’t even get the header bar with gems and categories.

Today Support had me update my NVIDIA driver, which is good in and of itself but did not fix my TP even after a computer restart. I’m curious why Support suggested I not reinstall, and may try that tomorrow when I have time in the morning.

I think the hearts work even for men (depending on the character). I have two male characters that would use them in a heartbeat >.>

The problem is that I already got great weapon skins for one of them — Bonetti’s and Aetherized pistols — and I am not playing the other one as much. At least I have more tickets now. A guildie kindly provided me with keys from the shop and I paypal’d her to pay for them (nope, still don’t have TP access, it’s really hurting). I was amazed that 25 keys got me 2 tickets and 9 scraps! Added to previous stock, I can now get 4 of the weapons even if I can’t get at the TP sold ones.

Decisions decisions. Because I think these are elegant, I like the pulsing heart effect, and it’s another rapier style at last. If only my agile sword wielders didn’t already have Bonetti’s!

I’ll agree on Mesmer, it’s an amazingly fun and astoundingly tough profession. It’s pure hax at underwater combat, too, unlike pretty much any other profession (I have 12 80s, at least one of each profession, so I’ve had a chance to get to know them all, not that I claim theorycrafter level expertise).

I have one Mesmer who is GS/sword+pistol, and another who is sword/sword/GS. I’m tempted to do a third one to play with the other weapons. Sure I could just switch out on the alts I have, but I am in need of a new alt to level so may as well be my favorite profession, hey?

The Windows one is the only one I know how to check for.

Ah well, I’ll do a lunch and hairwash break and see what Support next suggests. I asked them about a reinstall of the game but I’m worried about what else I might lose with that (besides time — I have guild RP tonight that I have to be in game for but otherwise I’d be fine with a long reinstall if the reward were a working TP at the end and no other impact on my game).

I like the idea of the puppet remaining in a heap, and even more having it be a puzzle of some sort.

As to viewing the massive size, I’ve found that it’s much more fun to stop the cinematic of the puppet descending and just turn my camera to the lane gate to see it happen live in the world.

I wouldn’t say one dragon couldn’t be under both the Grove and LA. Dragons are big. We saw hints before game that a mountain range could be a sleeping dragon. Of course, that’s hard to implement in game — it’s bad enough that we fight the Shatterer’s big toe, imagine the silliness if we tried to melee a mountain range. But lore wise? Sure. A gigantic force of nature doesn’t have to exist on a human scale.

Astralporing, the leylines angle is intriguing. I disagree about the chandalier, however, to me it’s just a geared arrangement of the same style as the Whispers weapons and doesn’t look like marionette stuff at all.

I agree with the intuitive need to have the colors match. But would that mean that Blue servers would always be in the tundra? How do people get to mix it up if their server tends to hold a particular color for a long time?

It should be much easier to add the sort field to the TP than to make armor classes mix and match — the meshes for the various weights of armor simply won’t work with each other so they’d have to redo every single piece of armor in the game before you could combine them.

I’ve deleted the cache a few times, including at Support’s direction.

Support asked me to do an MSCONFIG (and told me what to do in it). I did that, it didn’t help. They want a HijackThis report, which is … beyond me (I noted that in my reply to them. They are being super helpful in all this, as are you folks).

Consider what cultural origin your character has, be it Canthan or Elonian or Ascalonian or local Krytan. Look for an analogous human culture and pick something from that general pool. Here’s a site to help:

Running as admin or adding clientport 80 does not help. Support sent me a rootupd file to try, and that at least advanced me from 1 spinny load circle to 10 of them (10 revolutions before plain blank panel).

Also skillpoints don’t go to traits. They go to utility skills. If you have 50 in the panel, then you should be able to click on a skill in your skills window, confirm the purchase, and then you know it. You have to get 5 1-point skills before you can open the next tier, and so on.

3) Not sure how but I believe it is already set that way.
4) The only possible overlay I have is a GW2 skin on Mumble. Mumble does sometimes cause odd bugs with my ability to type in chat. However I haven’t used Mumble very much the past few days.
5) My shortcut has the usual target.
6) I have no idea what that is and won’t blindly do it without knowing what it’s supposed to do.
7) My Adobe Flash gets updated every time it asks me.
8) No proxy is used.
9) I just tried that and the only effect I noted was that my Windowed Fullscreen got altered and had to be reset so I could mouse over to the other monitor.

Thank you for the list of ideas! I have had Support reply and just sent them full details of the evolution of the issue. I’m crossing my fingers they will know what I should do. Meanwhile, what is the clientport thing and how do I check if I’m Admin for the game?

I agree, it’s pretty good on an Asura. I’m debating changing my mesmer’s look. To answer that part: Get a screenshot, preferably clipped down to the important part (Win7 has a Snip function you can put on your toolbar that is great for this).

Write a post. Click on More Options at the bottom below the text box, or if you already have it visible, click the Browse button. Select the file you want to post. It will appear when you post. If you want to do more than one picture, click Preview instead of Reply, and Browse again, rinse and repeat until you have all the images up you want.

I’d go with Anise instead. They did promise our nemesis would be someone we already knew, and Scarlet certainly wasn’t known at that time, nor was Kasmeer beyond her South Sun introduction iirc.

Alas, a repair did not fix it. I get one little spin of the loading circle in the panel’s middle, then the blank panel.

The only files I’ve deleted were temp ones, per directions from old threads. So I don’t think I did anything to wreck the game.

As someone who doesn’t flip or otherwise play the TP beyond occasional guessing of what new skin will be valuable in a month, I’ll say the biggest pair of QoL changes that could happen to affect every player would be 1) being able to sort by armor weight and 2) being able to search for back pieces by category rather than a list of possible names.

As someone who’s been unable to open the TP since Sunday morning, I’ll say that access to it is core to enjoyment of the game and I’ll be grateful to get it back even in its “archaic” form. I have been getting increasingly cranky from the impact of losing use of the TP and Gem Store. Dwelling on it, actually, I seem to mention it in most every post I make because it is so huge a deal to me just now.

Um, is there an actual chatting support place? I’ve just submitted tickets and gotten an automated response. Not about the Flamekissed, about my TP woes. No actual response or suggestions and my game play has been drastically impacted for 3 days. If there’s a live chat option point me to it!

I’ll even call them for live voice phone chatting, I’m cool with the long distance fees if it fixes stuff

Ok, checking, that is /repair not \repair, and is in the “start in” part as opposed to the “target” part?

Edit: I found the Support instructions on it but I don’t seem to have a GW2.exe, just a GW2. I added -repair to the end as they said and it told me that’s not valid. Is it safe to rename the file to add .exe to the end, or is it going to be somewhere other than my GW2 folder? (Much as screenies show up in my User files).

I think they all look superb, other than the long and short bows as those lack the refined filigree of the other weapons. Big flat metal plates don’t do much for me. I only have one ticket, so it will be very hard to choose what to get and which alt gets it.

If my TP access doesn’t get fixed I’ll be commissioning guild mates to buy skins from the TP for me and hoping sending the gold to them doesn’t get flagged as improper. I can’t get more scraps and tickets without a Gem Store, after all.

Well, it pulses through shades from dark to bright and dyes look different on different materials/items … so it will be very hard to find one specific shade to match all the variables.

The skirt looks good on my Sylvari, I’ll likely give it to her. I was going to get a screen of the effect with her dyes but, well, game says lol no game for you right now.

It’s not just EotM — you can crash when all you’re doing is typing in Map chat in Lornar’s Pass while someone else far away is entering EotM! The Mists are all around us, seeping in, cutting us off from the world …. /paranoid head swivel.

I went to the marionette fight just now. We got Warden 1 down. Lane 5 said they needed reinforcement. I typed I was heading to 5. I was about to type “from lane 1” so as to prevent an exodus and the game crashed before I even opened my map for the wp. Up came the LA loading screen, wth? And then instead of loading I got an error box and the game closed.

I tried again on the same character, hoping to rejoin marionette, crashed again. So I tried someone in Hoelbrak, got the Hoelbrak loading screen, and crashed. Given the other posts about crashing in EotM I am guessing the Edge opened up exactly when I first crashed out, and I suspect a connection.
