lol I love how Anet adds a feature that makes things more convenient, and people still complain because it isn’t convenient enough. In no way have they made anything less convenient. If you honestly believe that, please explain how this wardrobe would be less convenient than the system we currently have.
And Azure lol @ you at your response to the getting 100g for dungeon completions, you completely proved that guy’s point. You really would complain about anything, even free money. It’s a shame people have this kind of mentality.
I wish people could look at it as an actual QoL improvement instead of complaining that it isn’t what they wanted/thought it was going to be. It’s still an improvement.

I’ve done duels plenty of times in empty PvP servers.
Two people join same empty server, choose opposite teams, duel each other. It’s really that easy.
There’s a chance other people jump in, but typically it isn’t an issue.
Heck I’ve joined servers where people were strictly doing 1v1s and I just watched them. Was pretty fun.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Are you saying he bought multiple of the same exact skins from the gem store? I didn’t know people actually did that….
He should get his gems back if that’s the case. I’m sure a simple ticket to Anet would solve that. They should be able to look at his gem store purchase history pretty easily to confirm he did in fact purchase multiple of the same.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
With the new wardrobe, will skins like the Necro/Mesmer masks, Guardian shoulders, etc, be unlocked for all chars as well?
Or are they not included.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I think OP doesn’t realize that you get skill points you can use to unlock things starting at level 2.
That should satisfy your “put points into things” fix.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I think what people seem to be misunderstanding from the complaints to this system is that Anet is monetizing the wrong thing for their consumers. It’s great you’re unlocking all these awesome skins, but it’s too bad you can’t use them without paying Gems, or paying an increasing amount of gold to convert into Gems.
You realize that nothing has changed from the system, except now your non-80 xmute stones will count towards level 80 gear (albeit at a 3-to-1), right? Other than that, what has changed about xmute stones other than being called charges?
And for the record, if you can convert in-game gold you’ve farmed into gems to purchase xmute charges, then it is not a requirement to purchase anything. You can get all of the xmute stones/charges and anything else you want on the gem store just by playing the game without additional purchases just like your precious Diablo III. I do hope you realize this. Please god realize this. Otherwise you fail at GW2.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I’ve run Fractals multiple times a day almost every day since it was released in order to gear out all my characters in weapon skins. This patch diminishes the value of those skins to a point where the hundreds of hours i put in to acquire them are now meaningless. As soon as i realized this my tune changed.
They have also removed the incentive to run a dungeon after you have all the skins you want. I already have all the skins i want on some characters but now i guess i have them on all.
Actually, it’s adding more incentive for people who have not run some dungeons to run them now to satisfy the completionist inside of them.
If you’ve run a dungeon and have unlocked the skins for all three armor types, then your only remaining incentive is to do it for $$, which is what most dungeon runners do anyway. But that’s a LOT of runs to unlock ALL of the skins.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
This is a complete improvement over the current system. You will never have to destroy an item again, plus the non-80 xmute stones will convert 3 to 1 charge, versus now where they are pretty much useless if you have level 80 gear.
Plus, you guys do realize, that it is only inevitable that they will add a gem-store purchase for unlimited xmute charges. Anet knows whats up when it comes to making money.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Will I have to use charges every time I want to change look in pvp? If so, than I hate this change. Right now it’s free.
PvP will remain the same I’m sure.

Also, why are the Charr characters so gigantic in the selection screen. Completely disproportionate to the other races, even when factoring in their size. It’s like they’re zoomed in or something.

I believe this has indeed been suggested in one form or another. If story reset, cultural armor was lost, and current gear became account bound, then that would solve many of the obstacles that would prevent this.
I would be in support of this.

I’m always tempted to share my secrets on how to make 12 g/h or 400-600 g per week, but I feel like some people are not worthy of having that kind of information.
If it does not involve TP flipping (I already do that) then I would like to submit my application to learn what your method is. Also, your figures are based on how much time played per day?
Either TP or selling Arah if i can bet.
Not TP selling, nor Arah selling (I hate dungeons).
I’m purely a mob/event farmer. Legit stuff, non exploits, non-champ trains
At least 45 hours a week playing GW2 nets me 400g, which is on the conservative side on a bad week. I get about +500g.
Unfortunately, if everyone did what I did (and I know of 3-4 regulars that do this), our income would be cut in half. So our secret shall remain a secret, for now.
45/week is tough for me. Heck even half of that is tough for me. But I am still intrigued. Feel free to private message me your rotation. I will keep it a secret, my main is a Guardian, after all. And if Guardians can’t trust other Guardians, who CAN we trust….

I would much prefer “Happy Killing!” over “Happy Hunting!”. You know, since hunting implies we are sneaking about trying to capture OR kill something to possibly use for survival.
That is very misleading, distasteful, and honestly a bit insulting to the hunting community.
Happy Killing is quite distasteful. It means we should enjoy taking other people’s lives. Do you enjoy taking other people’s lives? You should be in jail. Shouldn’t it be “Happy Defeating” or “Happy Winning”?
And isn’t WAR a quite offensive and distasteful word? Millions of people have died and lost their families because of the terrible wars. I don’t want my children to see war as a fun past-time activity. “Guild Adventures 2” would be much nicer.
OR we could just agree that it’s just a game.

If you are running D/D or S/D and you aren’t swapping elements regularly, then you are only doing yourself a disservice DPS-wise.
I’ve met a number of ele players that were running D/D or S/D and complain about their DPS, and when I watch them fighting they stick with 1 element the entire time. Maybe the occasional swap to Fire.
There’s a reason Elementalists can’t swap weapons, but rather can swap between 4 elements.

It’s more like this, OP:
You are a guy who bought a one-time lifetime membership to an exclusive pub house that has bi-weekly import specials that are only available if you come in those weeks. Any other time you are welcome to come in and you can drink all of the free beer you want! But if you want to have that special limited run imported ale then you need to be present during the time period that this ale is available. If you show up too late, too bad, the brewery only made so much and it’s all gone!
So no, you cannot complain that you “paid” for that beer, you did not. You paid for the opportunity to have that beer, for free mind you, but the only caveat is that you need to show up to the pub any time in that 2-4week period, otherwise the beer is all gone.
Does this make sense now?
I’d love to see if you would be the guy that starts complaining to the pub owner about how it isn’t fair that the special limited run import that was advertised as only being available from X date to Y date is no longer available because you were late. He would tell you “too bad, dude, there will be another type of import next week”. And you would be on your way.
It’s the same exact thing here.

What’s funny is I was just talking with a guildie about how much I like the fact that these areas are still wrecked. Adds to the evolving Tyria narrative.
Victory is being alive and your enemy being defeated. Victory has never meant that your environment is still pristine, and possibly even better-off. War always means destruction on some level.
It’s very easy to destroy, it’s much harder to create and build.

I am keeping mine.Because as I stated I was doing the PvE content only for getting ascended gear and berserker gear was needed for the power crit build in WvW which is no longer viable and thus the gear is useless for me and I will have to get different to run different viable build for WvW.
Because these changes have made your armor not viable in WvW all of a sudden now, huh. I can only assume you are terrible in WvW.

There is no endgame content where “you can’t really do anything” with a 1g exotic rifle instead of Scarlet’s Kiss, apart from 20+ fractals where you need agony resistance.
If you insist on being “casual”, get the “casual” stuff.
If you are willing to become a “pro”, you’ll get “pro” stuff.
If you insist on being “casual”, but want to get the “pro” stuff, then invest your money instead of time and buy gems to convert to gold. Simple as that.

I don’t know your definition of “hardcore”, but it definitely does not match mine. For PvE I imagine WoW-like endgame/raids (minus the gear grind), or generally what you see in most high-profile MMOs. For PvP I imagine something akin to LoL, DOTA or Battlefield.
Those examples are not exactly the definitions of niche. They are wildly more successful than GW2.
Yes, that is my definition of hard-core as well. If you remember WoW raiding, it requires hours of your time. HOURS AND HOURS And it’s not like you could simply just decide “hey I hit level cap today, I’m gonna PUG a raid!” and get anywhere. No, you needed to have the BiS gear in order to be viable, meaning you needed to pour yet more hours into maintaining your gear every single time yet another tier of gear came out. That is what I mean by hard-core; and it is directly related to time spent playing. If you only spent 1-2hrs playing, you would a) never be able to raid because you would never have time for it and b) you would universally be considered casual.
You can’t play the game casually (1-2hrs/day) yet be considered a hard-core player.

Actually you do need it if you decide you want to do high-level fractals.
FTFY
Also it is useful if you want to roam in WvWvW in small groups. But it is only useful if you happen to come up against another full-ascended small group that’s roaming. Anyone that plays WvW can tell you that match-ups like that are very uncommon. If you have 5 people in full Ascended and you come across a group of 6 people in full Exotic w/ Ascended accessories, your group is toast. Especially if they are skilled players. Your groups overall 13% stat increase is still less than their group’s overall 20% stat increase with the addition of another player.
So, in the very off-chance your group of 5 goes up against an equal number of enemy players with the same exact class make-up and exact same skill level will your Ascended gear ever become a deciding factor. In 99% of your WvW interaction, it will mean goose-egg.

People told me that you didn’t need to grind much in this game but when i played it, it feels like u have to kill hundreds of mobs just to even level once at low level.
lol wut
Hearts/Personal Story/Events/Daily = leveling
I just started leveling my 7th char to 80. She’s at 28 now. I started her on Saturday, I play 1-3hrs/day depending on the day. She will be 80 by the end of next month easily, likely before that. Leveling in this game is faster than any game I’ve ever played.
If you play, let’s say, 3 hrs/day, you should easily level once per day, if not twice per day especially at low levels. But basically if you aren’t leveling at least once a day you are doing it wrong. Grinding monsters in this game is hands-down the slowest form of leveling you can do.

I’d just like to have dungeons feel like dungeons, and not stacking on every corner to afk auto attack everything dead. If there was a trinity system, maybe it’d be better, since as it stands PvE is basically “Wear zerker, stack and kill everything.” It gets really dull.
You know, you don’t have to do dungeons like that….
Why don’t you fight the mobs and bosses without stacking? Oh wait, would that be too difficult?
It’s like everyone that complains about stacking is complaining about how dull and boring dungeons are because of it, yet if they were to try it without stacking, suddenly its too hard and takes too long and no one wants to. So which do you want, difficult content or easy content?
Why don’t you people quit taking the easiest possible path to completion. Then maybe dungeons wouldn’t be so dull…
Wanna make dungeons interesting? STOP STACKING IN CORNERS. If you continue to just stack, then you can’t complain about it being dull because there are other options.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Zerker isn’t the problem, it is a symptom.
Agreed.
I will admit, however, that as someone who runs regular dungeons/group stuff, the zerker thing has not affected me. If a group is asking for zerker only, ok, I don’t join them. They are looking for a certain style of play (speed runs). If you want to play in that particular style, then you will need zerker.
If you are like me and most other players, then there is no requirement for gear. I welcome all levels, builds, and classes when my guild and I run dungeons.
So, I wouldn’t quite say it has ruined the game. If anything it has ruined the PUG experience.
If speed running is your game, then there is absolutely nothing that can be done about one build being preferred over another. If they nerf Zerker gear, then whatever is the next best build will become the standard for speed running. There will always be a best set-up for speedrunning.
What is annoying are people that usually speed run spouting their elitism to a group that is not looking to speed run. OK, no one cares that you can do this dungeon in 7min if you have X build, we’re not here for that. We’re here to complete the dungeon successfully. If you are going to whine about the speed, leave the group and find a speed running zerker group.

So hypothetically, if traits were available for purchase on the gem store, in addition to the already announced methods to obtain them (i.e. certain dungeon bosses, maybe JPs, etc), would you have a problem with it? They’ve already said you can purchase them with gold, which can be purchased with gems.
If there is an avenue to get the same thing without having to purchase anything (which they’ve confirmed), then why would anyone care if they were in fact available on the gem store as well.

You do realize that there are other genres of games besides MMOs right?
If I spent my spare time only playing one game day in and day out I would get bored pretty quick, regardless of what game it is. GW2 is no different.
“Man I’m so bored of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, I eat them every day.”
“Well, then eat something else!”
“I’ve tried every other brand of peanut butter! JIF is the best, so I dunno, I guess I’ll just cut it into different shapes then eat it until they come out with a new style of JIF peanut butter.”

Ya know, it’d be easier to believe Chicken Little if he hadn’t been screaming that the sky has been falling for the last year and a half. No matter how many times you repeat it, it’s not going to make it any more true.
The game’s not dying, no matter how much you wish it would. Arena.net isn’t going to come crawling back to you with the GW1 with updated graphics you want, even if GW2 were to die. I’m sorry.
Let me rephrase his point:
The hardcore PvE community interested in raids and other endgame content.
The sPvP community.
The hardcore WvW community.
Even the roleplayers.
They are all dying. People are leaving by the day without replacement. You’d easily see this if you talked to people that fit those needs. The only thing left by ANet’s own admission is the Living Story.
Those are quite the unsubstantiated claims, considering my guild has only grown in number with completely new players.
What it actually sounds like you are trying to say. Is that “hard-core” players are leaving. Yea, that is very true. Hard-core players are actually leaving EVERY MMO. Hard-core MMO players are simply getting burnt out on being hard-core, hate to break it to you. WoW, Aion, GW2, you name it. Hard-core MMOing is on the way out and casual playing is on the way in. That’s the paradigm shift in MMORPGs and it’s a fact that it is taking place. I used to be a hard-core raider in WoW for years. You know what MMO literally all of my 20+ hard-core raiding friends are playing right now? Nothing. Some play the occasional GW2 here and there, but overall, nothing. The average age of gamers is increasing and all of the hard-core players from MMOs “golden age” are now in their late-twenties with jobs and lives and simply cannot be hard-core.
If GW2 sheds its hard-core players, so what? They are the minority of players and traditionally hard-core players are less likely to purchase from an MMO store because they can obtain a lot of that stuff simply by being their normal hard-core selves and grinding/running content for it. Casuals are the players that will dump cash into a game because they don’t have the time to be hard-core anymore and so if they can use real life money that they grind for in real life to convert to fake money to buy something shiny they are more likely to do so.
Also being a casual player means it will take them longer to hit the same burn-out wall that a lot of the forum complainers are complaining about.

Free to low pop/low ranked servers, expensive for high pop/high ranked servers. It is to deter people from abandoning their servers for greener pastures.
2400 gems = $30, which will deter a LOT of people. And those it doesn’t deter only adds to their revenue. Win/win for Anet.

A good guild is the solution to your problems. One that actually enjoys the game and wants to build a strong community.
These guilds do exist.
Guilds that run regular dungeon paths for lowbies. Members that will stop what they are doing to help out with an event you are trying to complete. Guilds that help members progress and complete the personal story. Members that will spend 1-2hrs with you just keeping you company while you level up giving tips on your class. Guilds that set up tPvP groups, hold custom PvP tournaments, roam WvW, etc. Guilds that have regular community building activities, like scavenger hunts, competitions, with monetary or rare item prizes.
I can see GW2 being less fun for someone who strictly plays solo. It’s all about the interaction with people that will make this game awesome for you.

Really? You think? With 20 million or so fans of their games? Why wouldn’t they subscribe?
Huge ES fan here. I mean huge. At least 1500+ hours across all games.
I will not be playing ESO for a couple of reasons.
a) It is subscription based. That type of MMO is dead, they are only hurting themselves by trying to do it. WoW is the only exception and that’s because it started as P2P when that was pretty much your only choice and was extremely popular and has such a giant group of loyal fans that they will pay for it until the end. New games do not have this luxury.
b) I’ve played the beta, and honestly, it just didn’t do it for me as an MMO. To me ES is a single player experience and trying to do it as an MMO just felt weird lol. And this is coming from a die-hard fan of the series.
I consider it along the lines of FF MMOs. I love FF games, but the FF MMOs just don’t do it for me, and I know others who are big fans of the single player series feel the same way.
I fully expect the game to go B2P/F2P within a year. Time will tell.
