RIP Zerker Build

I hope everybody trashing the zerkers realize that this only affects you if you are into speedrunning. If you don’t care about speedrunning, or have guildies/friends to play with that don’t care about speedrunning, then who cares. If the speedrun groups choose to be extra strict that’s their prerogative.

Zerker groups have never affected me because I don’t speedrun, and if you don’t speedrun then it doesn’t affect you either.

On the flip side it is kinda lame the zerkers that are basically saying if you don’t run zerker you are bad/l2dodge, etc. I can dodge flawlessly and I run my cleric guard most of the time, yea I said it. People can be good at dodging and not wear zerker gear, they just don’t care about efficiency. Plus dodging red circles and telegraphed mob skills IMO requires far less skill than properly dodging in PvP.

How to gain Gold faster in this game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Its been past 8 months since I last logged into the game. Today I decided to play again and one thing that I have noticed is the decrease of Gold gain in dungeons. Back then running dungeons was a great thing to do but now at most you’d get 1 Gold Secured per run ( not including the other items such as drops etc ) at most you’d really just get 2g or less per run.

I feel awkward asking or even saying this but what or how do you gain gold ( not by buying from other people ) in this game at the current time? ANET seems to be removing a lot of the Gold Sink ( minus the Trade Post registration fee ) but there’s no clear window as to where would one get their gold from. I’m not asking for a place or what not where you’d get rich almost instantly but what I want to know is how does one earn gold in this game now that ANET just keeps hammering and stomping areas where players would get gold legitimately ?

They did not reduce the amount of gold you get from dungeons, not sure where you heard that. AC all paths yield 1.5g, Arah paths are 3g. Plus whatever you get in drops.

Dungeon running is a fantastic way to make money in this game. Especially if you learn to do it quickly.

Just for giggles I threw in 40 rare greatswords. Final results I was left with: 2 un-named exotics and 2 nothing special rares.

Still no better than usual.

That would account for 16 of your greatswords, what else did you get?

In 10 uses, I would probably end up with 2 exotics, 8 rares, throw the 8 rares back in, get 1 exotic 1 rare. That’s pretty average for me. Never any precursors of course.

Sounds like nothing has changed honestly. Same ole toilet.

EDIT: Obviously you threw the rares back in and got more rares, duh. Dunno what I was thinking….

I used the extractor from the gem store to get traveller runes out of some armor i don’t use anymore. Works great.

Bad idea. A rune is 9g, an extractor is more than 20g.

I don’t use in-game gold to buy gems, so zero gold. I was merely stating that this is a way to get the runes out that works. If you want free options, that’s another matter all together. And 6 runes = 60g in game, which will just take forever now to get since nerfs.

Forever as in a couple of weeks, right? And that’s playing casually. Because if you replace the time spent mindlessly farming champs and replaced that with dungeon paths, you’d make that money in a week easily. But if you are in the mindset of champ train or nothing, then you will be very poor for a very long time.

If you just did all three AC paths alone, each day, that’s 4.5g in about an hour of work, not including any drops. If you have extra time to spend, throw in some CoF, even more money. 4.5 * 7 = 31.5g playing about 1hr/day (possibly longer at first if you just aren’t used to AC, but once you get a regular thing going, each path should take ~15-20min.

So. There you go.

I would support more armors being available through gameplay rather than gemstore. In fact, almost every armor they’ve released through gem store should be through gameplay, because god some of them are hideous, who would even waste the money.

I’ve walked by characters before and had to stop and double take and just look at their armor/weapon setup, not because anything was exclusive or hard to get, but because the mixing, matching, coloring and character creation was done so well that it just looked awesome.

Complete this difficult dungeon or this difficult dynamic event to unlock this vendor. Too little of that in this game. A lot of it is just okay well go buy the skin on the trading post. Thats why PVE endgame is a joke.

That’s exactly how dungeon armor works….do dungeon, get tokens, get armor, unlocks the armor. You can’t buy dungeon armor for money, only tokens. PvP is also a way to unlock dungeon skins, and I find that to be a great feature. Can’t buy Ascended skins either, have to create it or get it as a drop.

There are also a bunch of skins that are exclusive to the Personal Story. Can’t buy those either. There are/were also exclusive PvP skins (not sure if they were removed or not), that cannot be purchased.

It sounds like you don’t really play GW2 too much if you thought all skins are purchasable.

It is a shame that things have been changed/refined in a way that required you to have to re-evaluate your gear choices. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s really not a big deal. I mean, in other games you’d have to replace your armor completely every few months, so look on the bright side.

Not Just You / Adapt

Draknar.5748

Most people hate change. The human mind is naturally lazy. It looks for ways to save energy. So we fall into familiar patterns and we repeat stuff that comes easily. Not everybody but most people.

Many changes people rail about they often end up liking (or at least forgetting about) over the long term. Again, not everybody but most people.

Me, I like change. I like being forced to adapt. It’s one of the reasons I play MMOs.

I would bet that there’s a limit on what change you’re willing to accept. For example, you got hacked and lost everything that is important to you, you’re willing to accept that? Thus some change needs to be resisted.

Uhm, yes. You would have to be willing to accept that change. What else could you do about it? Obviously you would try to go through the proper authorities, but if that fails, then you must be willing to accept that change. Otherwise you are heading down a path of serious mental disturbance. Some things you have no control over, the healthiest thing you can do is accept that it happened and try to move on from there. Not sit and stew about it, plotting things.

If it makes you feel better, there are far more people happy with the update than unhappy. If you frequent these forums you will quickly realize that people become unhappy at anything and everything. That’s how humans react in general. The forums are a place for people to express their opinions. Everyone knows that people with complaints will yell the loudest and post the most on forums. The happy ones will just play the game. The really happy ones will come on the forums to defend, but typically are outnumbered by the angry customers, because well, angry customers will congregate on forums to bond over mutual discontent about X feature. This is not exclusive to GW2.

The day you find an MMO’s forums with absolutely no negative posts is the day I eat my hat. If I were wearing one.

Everyone loves these masquerade masks!” /facepalm What is this like the 5th set of armor that looks exactly the same as currently available armors?

Heavy armor: Hoo boy, all together not their best, but I can visualize using certain pieces. Male heavy helm, that was a hatchet job, terrible. Just… terrible.

They really need to get their acts together with armor design. Do they sub that work out to people who don’t currently play the game? Anyone who actually plays GW2 would not have released a male light armor that looked like that. And then ask for money on top of it. Clearly that team didn’t realize that there are several sets of armor that look almost exactly like that already.

Daily Gatherer and Activity Participation are no longer static. She literally quit mid-daily yesterday because it was different and she said she didn’t like how they changed her routine. I’m not sure I understand the problem. Are you saying someone could have a level 40 alt with the fractal back piece and that means they didn’t earn it? That means their main character has earned it.

EDIT: I think I get it now. You have 4 chars with real Ascended back pieces, the other people could only have one and then the rest just skins. But so what? What about people like me who hide their back pieces on some chars. Would you assume I don’t have a backpiece at all? Or if I did, it wasn’t Ascended? In the end, it just means that that player is experienced in FoTM. Considering you could reskin Ascended back-pieces to non-Ascended skins (like the Fervid Censor or something), you will just have to continue not knowing exactly what gear someone else has. Would you honestly not play with someone because they didn’t have an Ascended backpiece, but rather an exotic?

Only 10 Daily Achivements?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Draknar.5748

Draknar.5748

I’m not a huge fan of combining the two daily categories and making less options, but what can you do. They will always have 5 options in PvE:

I believe last night’s was Kills, Aquatic Kills (these two can be completed in ~5min in the spot north of Grawlenfjord), Condition Remover (should just come naturally during play), Skill Points (scrolls make this doable in ~5secs, or hop on an alt and grab some easy close ones), Daily Events (plenty of spots in 1-15 zones with quick event chains, plus now they show on map where events are regardless of vicinity, which is awesome ~15min), Personal Story (this one would be optional because you should have already gotten your daily, but ~10min depending on what step you’re on).

All in all, daily can still be completed in under 30min, so I have to say I’m completely unaffected.

Sure it throws off your routine, but if you actually look at what is required of these dailies, they are pretty easy and quick. Personal Story is the only one that I typically groan when I see, but really we’re talking 10min on that one. Plus, some of the missions aren’t half bad.

If I think about all of the different dailies in rotation, the ones I typically skip are: Personal Story, and the Events ones. Only because it has been easier to just gather and do Activity, but the dailies used to always require 5 events (for those that remember) so I have some good spots already for that.

So what’s left?

Veteran Kills (easy)
X Zone kills (easy)
X Zone Veteran (easy)
Gatherer (easy)
Crafter (easy)
Mystic Forge (easy)
Ambient (easy)
Laurel Vendor (easy)
Activity (easy)
X zone events (medium-ish)
Champion (easy)

Basically last night/today’s daily was the worst possible configuration you could get, and it was still easy…

People are only upset because their routines have changed.

Conclusion: The rules changed, play how you want within the new rule set. Just like you played how you wanted within the old rule set. It’s that simple.

Or, we can ask Anet to change the rules. Anti-champ train whiners did so succesfully, so obviously it works, we just need to shout louder, right?
(Info: i don’t even take part in the train. I just get annoyed that everytime there is an option to earn something in the game, people whine until it gets nerfed. And in that time TP barons get wealthier and wealthier).

Anet did not change the champ train because of “anti-champ whiners”. They did it because the saw their game turning into a bunch of people zerging a path over and over and over again. If I had created a game with a specific vision and saw people were just sticking to one specific spot running the same path over and over, I’d change it too. Like me, they figured those people would find some other way to make money.

And they will. Most of these complaint threads right now are knee-jerk reactions to people suddenly having to do things different.

Not Megaserver: Divinity’s Reach, Dredgehaunt Cliffs, Mount Maelstrom

Feel free to add zones on that thread. Should be on the front page.

Grove is on Megaserver as well.

I don’t understand the logic behind people not wanting the major cities to be Megaserver. I mean. They were literally ghost towns, now I can’t even see the bank guy in Grove there’s so many people! Because they know the related PVE quests are a pain in the kitten . so you get the option to buy it with skillpoints/gold or gemstore.

With gold farming being nerfed that much more they are actually just after your wallet.

Which brings us back to the main reason for this patch…it’s nothing but a money-making scheme!

I guess I’m just not seeing how this is a money making scheme? What have they added that would force people to go to the gem store more than they already would have prior? Transmute charges? That’s no different from them selling transmute crystals. Plus, I logged in, used all my xmute stones and ended up with 100+ charges. That will last me at least a full year if not longer. Don’t get the random crystal from map completion anymore? Ok, play some PvP, you get one charge per rank.

Nerfing the FG champ train is not a scheme to get people to buy gems.

You can get more money than from running dungeons than you ever could in the past. I wish people could actually remember back when you didn’t get guaranteed 1-1.5g from doing dungeons. They added that so that you can make money. Easily. I mean, even at 3 dungeons/day, which when you actually start to farm for gold via dungeons, is ~1hr play time. And just doing AC all paths will net you 4.5g in guaranteed rewards, not even including any of the drops you get. If you play 1hr every day, that’s 31.5g/week just from dungeon rewards, let alone whatever money you would make in drops.

IMO, ppl with 2x Legendaries should be comp'd

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Draknar.5748

Draknar.5748

Because people need to be accountable for what they purchase. Before these changes everyone with 2x legendaries were completely satisfied with their purchases. They invested the time/money into getting them. Knew they were soul bound and would never be able to sell them and there was not a peep around.

Then wardrobe made it so you can duplicate skins. Yea, something changed. But that absolutely does not mean that everyone that got 2x legendaries should be compensated. That is life. Sometimes you purchase an item or two and then some time later you find out that there was a better deal if you would have waited.

They aren’t losing anything. They just aren’t going to get their money back.

Now, where there is some difference is that in real life you could likely sell whatever it is you felt was a mistake. On eBay, on Craigslist, whatever.

In the end they would pretty much be better off than everyone else. I mean think about it, for months they’ve been enjoying two legendaries. Now this change happens and they get a couple thousand gold and still are able to walk around with two legendary skins? They would be slightly better off than someone that just got one legendary after wardrobe and a skin because they had full use of both legendaries for a period of time. Which does have some value.

The absolute fairest thing to do would be to allow anyone with duplicate legendaries to trade one in for an account bound different legendary. That would be fair. You don’t get extra money, but you can at least trade your duplicate for a different one. You shouldn’t be able to run around with a soul bound legendary, then magically get it unbound and sell-able. You should be stuck with two legendaries, but can make one of the duplicates a different one.

Problem solved.

Ifyou play by the rules set you are playing the game correctly. Why should you dictate how I spend my rl time? If I want to run in a circle for an hour and wear a certain gear how does that matter to how anyone else plays. If you want to spend time complaining how other people play the game, go for it, its your rl time. Anet has made it clear you will play how they want you to play. Anet made the game with the rules and people played by those rules, but not the way anet wanted you to play. So they changed it. Something else will come along and they will change that also. You will play the game the way anet wants you to play not how others should think how you should play.

Yes, they changed the rules, so now you have to start playing with a new set of rules. It’s not a big deal. This happens. I’m sure you played this game before you knew about the champ train, and you can still play it now that it is nerfed. They created the rules in the first place so you were always playing how Anet wanted you to play. They have every right to adjust the rules that they created. Playing how you want is always an illusion in any game. There are always rules you must abide by. I mean, I’d love to be able to fly around and shoot lasers from my eyes, but I can’t.

Conclusion: The rules changed, play how you want within the new rule set. Just like you played how you wanted within the old rule set. It’s that simple.

Boy, some of the things you guys get upset about….

I’ve never looked at someone and wondered “what’s the name of their weapon???” It’s usually “hey cool skin, where/how did you get it”. You can still call your weapons whatever you want….in your heart.

Why Charr are bigger than Norn?

I give to you this picture, of my Norn, standing next to a Charr.

Norn are taller.

You are wrong.

Have your Charr /salute while next to him. When tallest Charr stands up straight next to tallest Norn, Charr is slightly taller. Only when /salute-ing though. Obviously they don’t stand upright like that so they appear shorter.

So has this been addressed or are we all gonna go farm Twilights and Sunrises for the free skins?

Let me know how you farm those items and I’ll be the first one to buy your newsletter. If you mean farm for gold to buy those items. Then….yea. People already do that. It’s how many have gotten legendaries. Buy gold, buy legendaries.

Sunrise & Twilight skins free unlocks?

Also, binding Eternity would only give player B the Eternity skin. Not Sunrise and Twilight. I don’t know why you think it would?

Quoted from the blog post: “….you will unlock all of the skins in that direct line of progression. That means that if you made Twilight, you will have access to both the Twilight and Dusk skins across your entire account. If you’ve created the Dynamic Tempered Spinal Blades, you’ll unlock that skin and all previous Spinal Blade skins.”

If this logic applies, equipping Eternity would give you the following skins, Sunrise, Twilight, Dusk and Dawn.

I believe that refers to items specifically like the spinal blades/capacitor/that halloween flaming book, that power up? Versus weapons that combine? I can certainly see the confusion though. I guess we need to try it to find out.

As someone with color blindness that can’t really tell the difference between the yellow border, green border, and orange border, this change has done nothing for me. If anything now I get kittened off more when I think I’ve got some exotics in my bag only to find out they are masterwork.

Sure I could toggle it off, but being able to see the blue stuff easier if still a convenience, even if everything else is essentially the same for me.

protip: you can type ‘rare’ in the search box which brings up all rare-quality items. Same with other grades.

Wait………………………………………………………………………………………………………………wut?

I know that item is very rare but didnt think its so super rare that someone would offer so much for it.

What is the % chance of getting that from a BL chest anyway?

That’s for a permanent hairstyle change contract. You can literally change hairstyles every day forever, with no limit. That’s why it is so valuable.

Autorun toggle irritation

Are you saying you accidentally hit R again to turn it off and/or forget if you are on auto-run currently then hit R thinking you weren’t and then you stop because it turns out you actually were on auto-run?

I mean, I auto-run pretty much all the time. Yes, I’ve had my character stop and have had to push R again. I’ve never been irritated by it though. We are talking about hitting R. That’s one key away from D, which is where my index finger usually is already (and where yours should be).

Megaservers: Give us a choice.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Draknar.5748

As a WvW player this seems like an awful idea, for one i’m sure there has been many guilds or players that have left a certain server for their awful hate towards them and this update is just a chance to bring them back together and bring more arguments within map chat. Secondly some of us in a sense have a certain pride towards our server and rather stay isolated in our own server. lastly, how many performance issues will there be in the first day? With the constant build after build after build. Surely it would get annoying. Well who knows. I’m one of the many that isn’t looking up to this megaserver update.

I have never. Repeat. Never- seen server bickering in any PvE maps. In all the overflows I’ve been in, not once has anyone started having WvW server squabbles.

This sounds like a made-up issue that doesn’t currently exist. I mean. When you go to Caledon Forest and you see someone next to you, are you going to ask them what server they are on, just so you can bash it?

How can you have a sense of pride in your server outside of WvW? There is no competition at all. Anywhere. I could see you being proud of your server in WvW (many are—well, the winningest servers anyway), but this Megaserver does not affect your home server. So when you WvW you will always be with your server-mates ONLY.

What scenario could possibly arise where pride for your server could come into question, or need to be exercised? You wouldn’t know one way or the other, all you will notice is that there are a lot more players in your zone.

The RPers are the only ones with room to complain because it would break their immersion playing with non-RP players, but in the end, there are no RP servers. There are servers that are unofficially designated as RP, but at no point are you required to RP. So the same outcome would happen if there was just a surge of players on the unofficial RP server. They would run the same risk of getting non-RPers with the Megaserver system or without.

Ultimately more players = better. RPers be darned.

I like to RP so I will make sure not to break any immersion. The easiest for RPers would be to turn off /map chat. Most people won’t be jerks directly to you, they want to be jerks in front of an audience for the lawlz.

^Pretty much that. Games like Aion and Rift proved for the last time that involuntary gankfests are not fun in the slightest.

As an ex-Aion player I can 100% agree that gankfests are not fun. The only ones who actually enjoy that are the gankers themselves.

You may be confused on the WvWvW. It isn’t level that goes account wide. It is your rank that goes account wide.

Other than that, I can’t think of anything else to do.

He already stated he has 11 80s, I think when he said level 80, 60, 45, etc. he actually meant rank.

I don’t believe they add up just like that, I’m sure it will end up being the accumulation of the actual WXP for each char, then whatever rank that equates to.

How Do I get Back into this GAME!?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Draknar.5748

Draknar.5748

And with the way the game works right now they really need a small level cap boost scheduled once per year (2-5 levels imho).

What difference does adding levels make? That would be completely arbitrary and kitten off the majority of the community. I really never understood that mentality. “I’m at level cap and I feel like there’s nothing to do. They should raise the level cap!” So what, so when you hit the next level cap you can say the exact same thing? Level cap is level cap. Adding content is what needs to happen, not making it so your magical level number goes up. That accomplishes nothing.

Also, that would just open the door to level 81-85 armor. If that ever happened I guess Anet should just close the GW2 forums because it would be nothing but “I’m quitting” posts.
