Can’t just type “cons” in the little “Search…” bar at the top of your inventory and do the exact same thing?
Players are basically lazy – that is too much work…..
The reason you can see more pro-dueling threads is that those anti-dueling don’t create threads. If everyone who was against Open-World dueling created a thread, I don’t think your premise would hold much weight.
People don’t create threads much asking for features that are already in the game. Lol.
No to dueling for all the reasons expressed in all the previous threads.
I didn’t saw any reasonable reason so why you dont tell me 1? All the reasons i saw were " It doesn’t go well with the story" – duh?, “im lazy to click on block duel button”.Whats your story?amuse me pls.
My reason for not wanting duels is so I can watch people like you QQ in the forums.
GW2 certainly has the best community.
It is certainly amusing. You guys kind of ask for it with your incessant spamming of the forums on this topic.
Honestly, I’m fine with duels, as long as
a) Prior to allowing duels, Anet straight up says "1vs1 is going to be inbalanced, and we are not going to do a single thing about it. If you think some class is OP over yours, reroll a new profession or L2P"
b) You can’t duel in major cities, has to be outside them so people can use the TP, crafting stations, merchants, without a bunch of people making it potentially more laggy.
c) All duels are declined automatically by default unless someone specifically enables it. It must be opt in, not opt out.
The bolded part is the most important – A.Net doesn’t any duels so it is not going to happen.
A.Net would have to rebalance the game to be a solo game – that is NOT what we want here.
If there was server merges, then you would see the merges happening in PvP and WvW since that is where the ‘Server Identity’ is important. Also there is no reason to have that identity in PvE as it makes no sense. Why do you need a server identity in PvE?
There were many maps, before the server merge where there were no people at all and this is why the mega-server came about. Try doing champions in Orr before the server merge – you couldn’t. That is all the mega-server was meant to do.
Any other ‘Conspiracy hypothesis’ is just that – an idea and one that has no proof. The mega-server is not proof that server populations were down – the populations moved to higher level maps (like Frostgorge Sound) and doing mindless champ zergs (which are gone now in lower level maps).
(edited by Dusty Moon.4382)
No thank you! PvP has the worst reputation for in game hostility in the entire game and shudder to think of those attitudes in pve.
What next? WvW in pve? Walking to do an event and an enemy zerg pops around the corner?
Keep that pvp genie well and truly locked in its bottle where it belongs.
WvW is a combination of PvP and PvE and that is the point. it is a transition from total PvE to PvP in a more controlled map.
Duels are PvP – you can do that already – your own PvP arena and then duel to your hearts content.
Don’t need to add it anywhere else.
And living story is PVE content. We dont need at all fractials or expansions. If you want expansions just do LS,if you wont dungeons just do dungeons, they should not waste time on fractials right?
You are missing the point, Duals are PvP – that is where they belong. They do not belong in PvE and A.Net has already stated that the PvE part of the game was NOT designed for ANY PvP elements.
No maps with AR except for Fractals. A.Net said that is the only place AR would be used as it is specific for those.
Only way I can see this working is like in GW1, where you have to do a quest to get your armor ‘infused’ otherwise it is a no from me. This would mean just another way to have ‘leetists’ in game even more.
Pressing a button is hard.
Pressing a button in order to bring up a window that entirely or partial obscures your view in order to then double click on another icon in a sea of icons, while in the middle of a fight is, in fact, hard. You are correct sir.
A consumable bar, even if it was only two to four keys, would be very helpful, considering the number of consumables available in the game that basically never get used because it’s such an inconvenience to even try.
Nothing wrong the way it is now – that is too kitten.
OP sounds like a kitten roleplayer.
Before you get all angry, I am (also) one of these kitten roleplayers. Well, less so about roleplaying, but definitely kitten. I used to go on TC for RPers just because they didn’t have eyesore armor or character names. The megaserver ruined all of that, so now I see people like “aojfgwep” (gross exaggeration) running around.
Again, they existed long before megaservers… I just didn’t have to ever read their disgustingly poor character name.
No, I am not a “insert vulgar word you used here” RolePlayer. I’m just a casual PvE player. I started this post to see if others shared the same pet peeve as I do, irritation at players that think being childish is still oh so cool and popular. There are MMOs out there that have a ToU against naming your character jibberish, sentences, and the like.
This is an RPG, where you are taking on the role of the hero. Your name is known for doing heroic deeds. I can’t take a player seriously ( esp in a dungeon ) if their name is more suited for someone playing CoD.
You see, you are missing the point. You are a regular person doing heroic deeds in GW2 (unless you are a Norn and that is their societal norm).
Gw1 was known for that too. A.Net has a very strict naming convention and more so than other games. Just report the name and move on, all you can do.
It is based on Mesmer Canthan Elite armor. No – I wouldn’t change a thing.
Maybe certain ones for doing world completion, PvP rank, gem store purchases, living story, special quest, etc.
With this needs the ability to turn down particle effects too. So people who love the effects get cooler ones and people who think their too much can tone them down on their client.
You can turn down particle effects already – under options and graphics……
NAH – don’t need them – the reason being you need to do a World completion to craft a Legendary. So you need the completion before getting a Legendary.
WE want the holy trinity of mounted cape wrestling !!
The game is dead because the lack of mounted cape wrestling
Not dead – B2P games with no sub are never dead as you can always come back to them.
Why? Bragging rights? No – only sPvP needs that.
Duels are PvP – you can do that already – your own PvP arena and then duel to your hearts content.
Don’t need to add it anywhere else.
So, does anyone who says the game is dying/losing players/failing financially, have any reliable source? Some official numbers?
Is it really all speculation?I have no idea how they are doing financially, however, losing numbers and interest is easy.
http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/guildwars2.comOr compared to other games for example:
http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=guild%20wars%202%2C%20world%20of%20warcraft%2C%20minecraft%2C%20%2Fm%2F04n3w2r&cmpt=q
That is just for the main website for A.Net – not the game itself.
Doesn’t mean anything. The same can be said for your Google search – sorry try again…..
Questions: Was this mode timed in GW1? What happened at disconnect?
GW1 was not timed. If you disconnected you had to redo.
Where exactly did GW1 have mounts? I seem to remember playing that game for 3 years and there were no mounts in it.
Groooaaaaaaaaaan.
Junundu Wurms and Siege Devourers. If you state yourself that you’ve played it for 3 years, when the game itself has been around for much longer than that, and has had two new campaigns (one of which introduced the Junundu Wurm) and one expansion (which introduced the siege devourer), how can you state that the game didn’t have mounts?
Those were situational mounts and you were actually the Wurm, not a player on the Wurm. Those were not mounts in the classic term. The Siege Devourer was a weapon not a mount – you could only take it so far and it disappeared.
No – it was a ridiculous thing in GW1 and it would be NIGH impossible to do in this game with mostly open areas. The only reason it was possible in GW1 was that it was a totally instanced game and your party had it’s own instance of the area.
Can You, and if You can’t then why, give some information about the actual drops rates?
There is a good amount of info from ppl in wiki but nothing is solid, its just observation.
I am not asking for every drop rate, but for the most desirable ones like:
1. Fractals lvl 41-50: we have a chance to get Ascended Ring (non-Infused or Infused), Fractal weapon skin, Ascended chest, Endless Fractal Tonic. So what are the chances for each individual drop.
2. There is the mystic forge drop rates.
and many more but not as interesting. I keep reading in update logs about how drop rates were improved and everything, but no actual numbers, so its like a floating statement. U could have 0,001% chance, to begin with, then and improve it with 0,001% again, e.g. double it, but at the end of the day its still a 0,00*% and actual improvement does not occur
They will never give that data. Sorry – it is not even reasonable to ask. If they gave the numbers, players could grind to what lvl of reward they wanted.
Regarding point 3 (gold sellers). If you read the EULA it already is against the rules and Anet can and do ban people for selling gold (as well as associated activities like botting and stealing accounts to get that gold).
If you know of a game that has a 100% success rate at preventing gold sellers please do say what it is. I’m sure Anet (and most other MMO companies) would love to find out how they do it.
Cryptic Studios will flat out ban you for even mentioning the name of a gold seller in any one of their games, whether you are the one selling the gold, or talking about the gold seller.
But like A.Net, they do not have 100% success with gold sellers. No one does.
That is because it only takes one player buying gold from them to make it worth their while.
OP seems to be the only person who wants to bring culling back.
Exactly…….
Steam is owned by another game publisher not NCSoft. Why would that other publisher allow GW2 onto steam? It might make GW2 more popular than any of Valve’s games……
lol if you think this game is that popular…
Majority of popular steam games are FPS, some strategy games like civ 5, some RPGs like bdl2, skyrim, etc…GW2 would be pretty low on the list of steams concurrent players haha, this game would hardly be popular.
In terms of concurrent players, I highly doubt GW2 even beats runescape lol
I am sure it does (80K based on Reddit – I am sure GW2 has more than that just in China alone) …. if you play Runescape more power to ya – I played it and was bored silly.
I got myself The Secret World and Rift from Steam on a sale, I would never bought them if they were not on Steam, because I wouldnt want to pay 50€ for games with several years on their backs and I didn’t know when they did sales.
Anyways there won’t ever be a huge stream of new players on GW2 unless they put the game on Steam and let people know it, but if they are greedy with the Gemstore, well… their loss.
How do you know? With GW1, every time a new book came out, Factions and Nightfall, there was an influx of players. TSW and Rift are very mediocre games and they are P2W as as you can buy very high end armors with RL money only (or grind for them) and be ‘Uber’ in those games. The Gemstore in GW2 greedy? LOL – I guess Rift’s and TSW’s CS are not – OH well. I can see you have a slant – they are all greedy. Why not? They need to make money to continue on (and they are FOR PROFIT COMPANIES), denying that is funny to me.
I have never bought a game off of Steam, nor will I but, that is me.
Actually those gems they refunded have already been paid, regardless of with you bought it with gold or not. The only way you could have obtained those is for someone to sell their gems for gold in the exchange.
You buying them with gold does not change the fact that someone else already paid for them.
So? He did not spend money on them that is what he was saying. What you are talking about has NO bearing on him.
He was basically stating that they were treating him like a paying customer.
He is a paying customer, because regardless of how he got those gems, ArenaNet made money. Just because he bought them with gold, should not make anyone feel like they are not a paying customer.
AHH – he bought the game – so yes he was a paying customer…..
I would suggest contacting your ISP.
The only time I have lagged in this game was during the denial of service attacks aimed at cloudflare.
ISP’s are already throttling high usage customers. That may be part of the issue.
The other part of the issue is that IPS’s do not do enough maintenance on their own networks. I had issues with another ISP and found out it was one of their servers dropping packets by 50% – they insisted it was me.
Actually those gems they refunded have already been paid, regardless of with you bought it with gold or not. The only way you could have obtained those is for someone to sell their gems for gold in the exchange.

No – I think they should be account bound as they are now.
Steam is owned by another game publisher not NCSoft. Why would that other publisher allow GW2 onto steam? It might make GW2 more popular than any of Valve’s games……
I’m not a big fan of environmental affects that inhibit player movement. I get enough bad weather where I live, I don’t need it in game.
I hated the environmental effects in GW:Nightfall – what a pain. They were so over the top.
There was a desert part in the Maguuma Jungle, if you remember GW1. It will be interesting to see what it looks like now.
the shot of the zephyr ships blowing up and then the shot of braham and his buddies was pretty weirdly put together. if you didn’t know who they are you’d think they blew up the ships
excited for a new map, but i hope it isn’t going to be all inquest because of that golem. i think they’re kind of a boring villain faction tbqh
I think the Inquest is quite an interesting villian faction, because they arent truly evil. But i also believe they wont be a major antagonist in LSS2, propably they only want to get their hands on that shiny dragon-power, but i dont think the Inquest would ever become an obedient servant of Mordremoth or another dragon. It is even possible that we will work together with the Inquest somedays if we share a goal with them…
FYI – Asurans are basic arrogance on legs. They believe they know what is best for everyone (doing the Asuran PS lines, you will see that). Even the Asuran governing Council is not white as the pure driven snow.
Environmental condition that slows down energy regeneration.
There is no energy involved with skills, in GW2, except for Dodging and that I don’t think that is what you are talking about. That makes no sense at all.
this guy actually thinks heavy armour makes a difference of any relevance
Conditions ignore armor – so it doesn’t matter light or heavy the damage from conditions is the same.
The Trinity would make this game dull and boring like all other games with the trinity. If you want the trinity, go play a game with the trinity.
(edited by Dusty Moon.4382)
I love housing. It adds depth to an MMO and helps players feel more invested in the world. I would like to see it built into some kind of guild system to encourage closer small groups.
Maybe each guild can buy an instance off the main cities or specific areas to make themed guild communities. Let the mega servers sort out what instance you actually see.
btw,
Anet has a staff of 350+ people. I think they can work on more than one thing at a time.exactly anet has plenty of staff and lots of people want an update like this
Not as many as you think. A poll of this forum would show yes but many posters here don’t even play the game, they just come in to whine.
The Emperor has closed off Cantha to the outside world so we will not see Cantha until the Emperor dies OR all the Elder Dragons are dealt with.
We won’t see Cantha anytime soon.
Nothing is impossible. It’s fiction after all. They can make up whatever they want.
Certainly an elder dragon could attack Cantha, and Cantha could call for our help. Or a new enemy could take over Cantha and attack us, forcing us to retaliate. The old emperor could simply die and the new one open Cantha for us. An asuran temporal vortex could bend space/time and teleport Cantha on top of Orr and replace it while adding lolipops and rainbows. Anet could literally pull anything out of their bum and make up a reason for us to go to Cantha.
Anet has to actually want to take us to Cantha. I’m not sure why they don’t want to. There’s plenty of overt support from the community for a full fledged expansion. They seem to be on some idealistic crusade to make Living World the “next big thing” in MMOs.
Warning: Rant ahead. Directed at Anet mostly.
I’m sorry, Anet, but the Living World just doesn’t hold a candle to what GW1 had. I’ve recently gone back to work on GWAMM, and I’m still not even 30% of the way done with GW1 after 8 years. I’ve got 8 characters there who are not even close to complete. My main still hasn’t finished hard mode missions. My main hasn’t even fully unlocked all skills or fully specced hero gear with runes, etc. There are countless titles I have yet to finish, ALL of which actually MEAN something in that game.
Contrast with GW2, where I have 7 characters all 80 with full exotic with ascended trinkets, all traits and skills unlocked. I’ve finished the personal story and cleared every dungeon. I have dozens of titles and achievements for which I barely had to lift a finger to earn. They mean almost nothing. In fact that’s the reason I went back to GW1 for GWAMM. It’s one of the only titles in GW2 that actually means something. And it’s meaning is entirely based on a different game. That’s just sad. All of this over the last 2 years, which by the way I earned 90% everything in GW2 within the first year.
So basically there’s roughly 8 times more substance in GW1 than in GW2. After 8 years of GW1 I’m still learning new things about it, and I feel like there’s still way more content ahead of me. In GW2 I feel like I finished it a year ago, and I’ve been waiting for something new ever since.
Have you read the book in the Priory outpost in DR? I don’t think we will go back with that comment.
Search is your friend on any forum….
The Emperor has closed off Cantha to the outside world so we will not see Cantha until the Emperor dies OR all the Elder Dragons are dealt with.
We won’t see Cantha anytime soon.
No – I would like skills similar to GW1 but not the EXACT GW1 skills. Why is that? GW1 was a very out of balance game and many of the skills suggested were OP in that game.
No housing – what a waste. There are plenty of other items that need to be worked on in this game and housing in not a real top priority. In fact, I hope it NEVER is put into the game.
lol iv never heard such a staunch opinion over player owned housing but i am sick of people foolishly saying that anet has “more important things to work on” more important to who? you? thats fine, but not to me…..
I am talking redoing the engine so it doesn’t chug in WvW – more optimizations. DX11 would be nice also. I would prefer guild halls and a GvG tournament but that will be hard as this is not an instanced game like GW1 and you need plenty of room for all those halls. Fix all the armor clipping. Some new areas to explore. A new WvW arena or two. I think that is more important than housing……
I feel housing is a waste because this is NOT a sandbox game. What does it get us – that we don’t already have looking at the character screens, etc? NOTHING. I know, ‘OH LOOK – I built my own house’ – Sorry no. Where would you put all these houses?
Want housing – go play in the sandbox where PvPers can knock it down and make you start all over.
In terms of POST RELEASE game development/improvement:
And keep in mind that GW2 has like 100 times more employees than what GW1 did.NO – it is 100 more people – not 100 times – please you lost all credibility there.
GW1: the devs FREQUENTLY released; (weekly, bi weekly, monthly)
- Bug fixes
- Skill balances
-Holiday items and quests and stories
- Special event weekends (weekly or bi weekly)
- New skins/dungeons/npcs/quests/content like zaishen keys and embark beachGW2 has had the same. But you can’t compare a lobby game to an MMO.
ALL WHILE WORKING ON AN EXPANSIONS WORTH OF CONTENT. Yep, that’s right, not only did they have less employees at the company, they released frequent meaningful updates, whilst working on truly epic expansions. And they did this 3 times without fail (factions, nightfall, EOTN)
AHH FACTIONS AND NIGHTFALL WERE FULL GAMES NOT EXPANSIONS. EXPANSIONS means you need the original game – Nightfall and Factions you did not
GW2 devs have released us (2 weeks for TEMPORARY pve content, 3-5 months between every PvP/WvW update)
- Over priced gem store items every 2 weeks
- Fractals
- Over priced gem store items
- Living Story that’s not actually a story, and completely disregards Guild Wars lore, putting Guild Wars lore on the backburner. It is also 2 weeks, and pointlessly temporary.
- Overpriced gem store items
- WvW ranks, still not account wide
- Overpriced gem store items
- Skyhammer (lol)
- Dhuumfire (lol)
- Overpriced gem store items
- Holiday events that were ok, but could of been better given the resources.
- Bug fixes only involving Living Story temporary content
- A few skill balances
- Champion lootYeah, frankly its been very uninspiring and a pretty big let down. Considering the ANet behind GW1 delivered so much epicness, with such little employees, it boggles the mind how GW2 fails to deliver.
I never used any sort of forum (like guru) to express any problems or concerns, the game was brilliant (besides the OP hex/blind PvP meta that meant non casters couldn’t play the game). GW2? Let’s just say, I’ve voiced my concerns and been punished for it more times than I’d like to admit.
Personally it feels like ANet used to be made up of awesome guys and girls who were passionate about their job and the game they made, but with GW2 it just feels soulless post launch.
It does feel like this game fails to deliver post launch.
The small GW1 team set the bar too high, a bar that no company will ever reach again. Kudos for the memories.
Frankly – your first glaring argument mistake made sure no one would read your post. GW2 has added more in this game and GW1 had a huge number of glaring flaws that were NEVER EVER fixed.
GW2 is a decent game. It has issues, like all the others other there but, at least A.Net is trying to do something different. Not put out WoW – WoW clone1 – WoW clone 2.
Since you obviously don’t like the game, why play it? Move on as there is nothing for you here other than disappointment.
(edited by Dusty Moon.4382)
Not another Mount thread – jeez. There were no mounts in GW lore.
No mounts please. Other games with mounts are a mess.
No housing – what a waste. There are plenty of other items that need to be worked on in this game and housing in not a real top priority. In fact, I hope it NEVER is put into the game.
There is a naming policy….
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-naming-policy/
Try rolling back your graphics driver.
No – the issue is the temperature on the CPU. 80C is quite high. I would look at getting a new CPU cooler first. Then look at the most recent WHQL drivers from NVidia. Also your video card is getting too hot – check to make sure the fans are on. I think you may have something blocking the fans. 97C is close to failure temp on GPU’s.
You didn’t say how much memory your computer has – make sure you have minimum 4 GB but preferably 8 GB.
the new nvidia drivers use leess cpu, gw2 is bottlenecked by cpu, theres no arguing the dirvers had a role in the performance increase, i hope when they release a new expansion they bring in a modern game engine as well
This is what I think it is – nothing more.
This game would be hard to bring in a newer engine since they want many players to be able to use older PC’s for this game. Hence why we are stuck with DX 9.0c.
All your actions since the launch of the game have been to move from soulbound to account bound.
Come on, you just have one last step to do: remove soulbound entirely from the game.
There is just no point in keeping any soulbound stuff anymore.
Sorry, OP, but I disagree. If your weapons/armor were all made account-bound then you could just go around transmutation costs by continually trading them from one character to another.
Exactly. This is why – when you transmute or put in a Sigil they become Soulbound. There is a reason for it. Basically you would make the transmutation system worthless.
No – you ALREADY have a bank for this. Just use a bank item from the Tp.
WOW – people whine about so much stuff – wouldn’t this kitten the game too much?
Just like other games, the players have defined that you need zerker everywhere. The Developers already stated that other build are just as viable. If you go do some of the harder world bosses, one can see the zerker people going down easily because their builds are all dependent on DPS and not on self-sufficiency and/or mitigating damage from mobs.
Warriors and Guardians are not OP. Just learn how to play against them. Once they use all their skills in one burst they go down like a sinking rock.
As other posters have stated, people are stuck playing GW2 like other games with the trinity, which to me is trash BTW, and they need to start thinking outside the box.
People complained about culling before, so they removed it, Now you want it back? You can’t have it both ways.
There is no way to separate PvE culling from PvP – it is part of the engine.
