Because we can’t be angry about both?

My level 32 engineer has access to her elite skill, which was equipped prior to the patch. It is still equipped and usable. I am not seeing any gathering nodes in metrica on this character.
I do see gathering nodes.
(edited by Guhracie.3419)
It’s too late to revert, just as you said.
That. Why? anyone?
And is not for the amount of players, or something like that. Idk, my FPS suddenly drops in certain places or in front of players. I feel how scroll even running.
Idk what was the performance improvements in this patch but is awful for me. I was able to run this game fine and smooth and now is a crap and annoying.
Thank the army of minis.
The army of minis that are invisible? Those minis?
I agree, my performance in-game has decreased.
I have 24 characters, and only about 15 of them are level 80. I’m currently leveling the rest, and three are still at level 2 and have the whole journey ahead of them.
How I currently feel:
- What was unconditionally mine before is suddenly taken away from me and given back to me as a “reward”, level by level. It’s like someone enters your room, grabs an item from your cupboard, wraps it nicely and hands it to you as a “present”. I already had it, no thanks, I don’t need it handed to me like this.
Yes, exactly. It’s shoddy.
Ahaha. This thread reads like a cautionary tale, just not the one the OP intended.
The amount of fail here is just staggering. I hope you choke on your condescending attitude.
Open a support ticket and demand a refund. If it’s a bug, they’ll tell you so and are now aware of it and will work to fix it. If it’s intended, you get your gems back. Everyone’s happy.
I don’t want my gems, I want the item I paid for.
Yeah, I can confirm that my copper fed salvage o matic cannot be used under level 15 now. I cannot even begin to comprehend how this could be an unintended bug, but I also don’t understand how it was seen as a good idea, so…
I seriously can’t believe they added a stealth level requirement to a gemstore item. What is the kitten point of this change?
The reason is that the first instance of the name, before the colon, is interactive. You can click to block/report on it. However, my biggest complaint is people who spam non-custom emotes over and over again, and those emotes weren’t effected. No way to ignore the /dance x1000 people yet.
The single biggest problem I have with the changes to the leveling system (from FP1 and 2) is that you’re not adding rewards. Instead, you’re taking away systems that were once freely given and then doling them out sparingly, in order to make things feel or seem more rewarding.
That illusion might work for some people, but most of us don’t appreciate “progress” when it means we’re losing out overall. It is never a good thing to take away a free convenience only to sell it back to us, and try to convince people that it is a reward. Sure, some people will buy it. That doesn’t make it a good plan.
There have been many improvements made, yet I’d gladly give up on them all (wardrobe and crafting interface included) if it meant I could enjoy leveling a new character again. You’ve taken the joy away from my playstyle, and you’ve pointed the finger at the CDI as the reason behind it all. Message received: I won’t be participating in any further CDI threads.
I wouldn’t have played this game. And the next time a new game catches my eye, I really have no incentive to keep playing this one.
I also think it’s hilarious, and I appreciate the title.
You’ve checked in your mini section at the bank? It still exists.
It will unlock at L60. No progress has been lost. The L48 step used to be the start of a storyline that ran from L48-L59, but they’re all now part of the L60 chapter unlock, so you don’t have to level up between every step.
You never had to level up between every step. With the new gates, you have to level up before you can see the next part of the story. This is a step forward?
I take it you were doing the level 10 story on a level 80 character? Or passed the bag to a level 80 to open?
I was under the impression that named level 80 exotics have a chance to drop from those bags regardless of the level of the character opening it, and that only non-named equipment drops were limited to being appropriate for the level of the character opening it.
This is true. I got Monsoon out of a champ bag on a low level character.
There are aspects I am looking forward to, and I’m willing to adopt a “wait and see” stance toward the rest.
P.S: Top Ten list will be out before the CDI.
Does this mean the top ten list will be posted today?
Yeah, I’m very curious to see this top ten list too.
Looks like we’ll see it when we see it.
The total cost to unlock all of the traits is 43g and 360 skillpoints.
I’m sorry “hot” has been used to advertise decades before “hipsters” were a thing.
Wait, so advertisers are the original hipsters!?
If they were using “hot” before it was cool….
Hot can never be cool, by definition.
I was expecting them, since they hinted that they were in the works shortly after the April patch hit. However, I’m more disappointed by the lack of attention given to the trait system.
The games that do this generally have a fee attached to trait resetting.
is tomorrow’s update going to change anything about this ?
Nope.
If they did wvw together, they have to be on the same server.
Does your friend have a food buff? Or more achievement points than you do? Are you in the same guild?
As the title say’s lets make these items such as armours and weapons salvagable again instead of throwing away potential mats..
and yes, I remember the Karma farmers at the beginning but in all honesty, the runes from these armours and weapons arent worth much on the TP so would be pointless to exploit (not that you can Karma farm any more)
The reason I’m making this suggestion is like others, I’m having to throw away amours that I no longer use as they were taking up bank space shrug
You can toss them into the mystic forge and salvage the results.
Hi All,
Update on CDI and top ten list.
I am too busy this week to start the CDI so it will start on Monday 8th.
I apologize for the delay but I am rather busy and want to be able to give the CDI my full attention.
Chris
P.S: Top Ten list will be out before the CDI.
Does this mean the top ten list will be posted today?
Hi! I think what you mean is that you want areas that are currently inaccessible to be made accessible. (Your title implies that you would like ANET to add a zone, but make it totally inaccessible- which is a completely understandable mistake, given that you are not a native speaker.)
I’m not sure I agree entirely with this sentiment, because I can’t think of any places from the personal story that are unreachable in the game itself. Claw Island, maybe? I will note that I have not played the personal story extensively, so I could very well be wrong.
There’s no schedule, unfortunately.
There are a lot of calls for “revert” here – but I don’t think people realise how hard that is to do from a software development perspective.
GW2 is an extremely complex game with many interdependent systems. It’s inevitable that there will be other systems in the game which now depend on code in the new Traits system. Rolling back to the “old” system would break things elsewhere.
This practically means that a roll-back or revert might take nearly as much development resource as building Traits 3.0. Thus the desire to “hotfix” as much as possible and then use the learnings from Traits 2.0 (current) to make a really good next iteration. This learning comes from data analysis of actual players (e.g. how many are really getting stuck due to traitlock at level 40, 60 etc. vs getting to 80 and playing regularly) – as well as forum members and other feedback points.
Of course, implementing Traits 3.0 means adjusting all of the parts of the system that depend on the current system. As a result, this can’t just happen any time. It needs to be part of a “whole-of-system” review. So maybe we’ll see this in Feature Pack 3, 4 or 5…
In the meanwhile, the best thing readers of this thread can do is give them info to implement hotfixes within the current system. If we can help them get 60% of the way there with hotfixes then they can focus Feature Pack 3 or 4 effort on making new stuff vs. fixing existing stuff.
Well, if they were willing to actually read the thread, there are plenty of ideas for new iterations and hotfixes both. But since they went for almost 5 months without responding to the feedback, there are nearly 50 pages to read, and they don’t want to expend the energy.
I know what Jon Peters wants from us, I just find it insulting.
Every time this thread shows up on the main page, I get this song stuck in my head.
I’m pretty sure the bitter comments stem from jealousy and cynicism, and you should just ignore them. I think it’s an awesome thing someone did for you, and you have every right to be excited.
There’s a dev post that confirms it will effect level 80’s, but that we won’t notice anything different. Make of that what you will.
Yeah, many here in the forums thinks that Feature update = Content update, and that is a bit sad, but kinda understandable.
How is it understandable?
Is…. is this post serious? I’m really unsure, because I have no idea how Anet could be more clear about the purpose of a feature patch being unrelated to content patches.
As soon as you introduce player-to-player direct trades, chat fills up with trade spam. And no matter what safeguards are applied, there will still be scammers and suckers. It isn’t worth the added annoyance of constant door-to-door salesmen and the pitiful crying of marks who get cheated.
EDIT:
Blegh. All y’alls are haters! If every other MMO allows this and a trading post system why can’t we?
If everyone jumped off a cliff, would “all y’alls” follow?
According to what I’ve witnessed in wvw, the answer to that is almost always “yes.”
I didn’t know John Smith was his real name. I thought it was a placeholder name!
He addresses this in the “I have a question about the economy” thread where he basically confirms that he is, in fact, the Doctor.
Edit: To correct my quotes.
(edited by Guhracie.3419)
That’s awfully nice! Congratulations!
I feel that if we had a black lion trading post subforum, discussion about the new trading post could go there instead of in general discussions.
….what’s that? We already have that? Oh, nevermind. I guess they wouldn’t go there.
These are fantastic changes! Great job, TP team. It looks like a massive improvement, absolutely worthy of hyping.
Just like the inventory has the drop down menu with “deposit all materials” and “compact,” it would be great to have a “compact” button in the bank, both guild and personal banks.
My hold over ideas that you asked for, Jon.
1: Make all adepts already learned and usable at level 15. Master and grandmasters will still be hunted.
2: All traits account bound.
3. Remove all tier restrictions. High end traits are self limiting by level and difficulty. Players can invest in a full trait line with full adepts (and majors when they acquire them) if they so desire.Wouldn’t fix everything, but would be super simple to execute and give a lot of choice.
A change like this would restore a huge amount of my faith in the game.
In my opinion, this is an excellent idea, and I stand behind it 100%.
This game, in my honest opinion, was an unfinished project at launch…. and many aspects of the game could have used some polishing.
Adding more depth to character development is a definite must, and the only reason players are opposing it is the fact that they have played the game since before the patch.
If this trait system was in place since launch (which it should have been) then players would not have been spoiled to have all traits available at their disposal without earning them.
Players who leveled 9 toons to 80 without having to actually earn any traits, upon leveling up toon number 10 have to jump through all these hoops… and are completely put off by the idea.
…and rightfully so….. I mean who wants to pay for something they have been getting for free this whole time?
But look at it this way.
This should have been in the game since launch.
You were supposed to jump through all these hoops on every single one of your toons…. but you got a free pass for 9 of them.I’d say you were pretty privileged.
I can assure you that I’d never have purchased this game if the current trait system had been in place at launch. I certainly wouldn’t have purchased a second account, or additional character slots. See, I’m not a fan of jumping through hoops. Especially not the same, tired hoops on all 12 of my level 80’s.
Saying that it was worse in the original game is not a good defense of the current system. It just means the original one was bad, too.
Quite frankly, I think a new player’s views are every bit as valid as anyone who played before the April feature patch, since this system was put in place to “help” ease the “confusion” having simple trait unlocks apparently caused prior to that patch.
Sometimes the grass really is greener. Otherwise we’d never move.
almost every single post here is about how no 1 likes Anet,
you payed once! and played for 2 years and all you do is complain, you dont have rights to complain!
new pvp rewards
class balance (so u wont cry that warrior is op)
more “traits” for wvw
commander color, not a big change but can have a big effect if used right
megaserver maybe this time it will be right, if no the heck so ull miss tequatl or just need to be ready 20 min ahead
u dont get kicked from dungeon wen the leader leaves
a small but nice improvment for crafting + new back pieces
fresh start, eaither a new member or a 2 years members starts a new class and will have easier life lvling
finishers and minis im not fan of that but i know alot of people who are
new collection achivment, more ap more loot, even if u dont get profit for it, its an extra goal.
Anet i paid once for the game but you keep adding staff every now and then, even if its a mere dagger or gs skin
Thank you! 2 years and im still enjoying
all you 12 year old cry babys are ungreatfull
You don’t know me, therefore you have no right to complain about my posts. You’ve never paid me for anything.
TLDR;
We added this system as a direct result from the horizontal progression CDI. We are always reading your feedback, however, we don’t always have time to respond right away or action it quickly. We updated some trait unlocks in the past but we can do more. How can you help?
1) Give us a list of the most offensive trait unlock locations.
2) Keep giving feedback and be patient as this is a big ship and it takes time to steer it.Instead of picking obscure Champions in areas, why not use the World Bosses instead?
There are far more people doing those.
If the intention is for newbies to learn about the game, then learning about the different World Bosses while leveling up is a good thing, rather than wait till lvl 80 and start grinding for bonus chests.
World Bosses would be pretty bad as well. You are now forced to rely on their spawn schedule for unlocks. Having the grandmaster traits rely on Orr temples is bad enough.
At least there’s a set schedule for world bosses, unlike the Orrian temples. And the low level world bosses spawn every two hours, which I’m assuming is how we’d teach newbies about world bosses.
The manifesto is a dead horse. Can we stop quoting it like it applies to this game? Whatever game it was intended for, it is not Guild Wars 2, and if you think it’s still their design philosophy, you haven’t been paying attention.
I like the kit backpacks, I think its one of the things that makes all the engineers look alike
different. And it looks like I have a bit more pride in the profession than the people who
want to compare them tothink they look like homeless bums.
Fixed that for you.
You all have fun writing up your ideas. You guys (players, obvs, since Anet can’t be bothered) might try scanning the thread, because a bunch of good stuff is apparently going entirely unnoticed, and I certainly won’t bother with a copy/paste. If they didn’t read it the first time, why should I expect they’ll read it a second time? Fool me once.
You want us to go through the traits list and do something you should be doing because you can’t be bothered to go through this 43 page thread that’s been around since April? This “specific information” you’re after? It’s all here. It’s been stated and restated.
Yes. That’s exactly what he wants, because now we have a focus and a purpose.
Thanks. I’ll pass this on.
So, this is how it works? Cherry pick ONE PERSON’s “list of things I don’t like”, while ignoring 40 pages of really good feedback and ideas? OK. I’m done with this thread.
From this response from JonPeters and his initial post it is obvious that Anet is not going to fix their new leveling process or trait system except the individual tasks themselves.
I’m discouraged since I used to like leveling new alts but can live with just playing my level 80s instead.
To be clear we are looking at the system as a whole but recognize that changing that will take longer than is satisfying and are looking for ways to improve the current system until a time at which we can make a better overall system from the ground up. Specific suggestions on what traits are poorly placed are helpful for #1, specific suggestions on #2 are also welcome but are going to be read but not responded too right now.
So, if I’m reading this right, are you saying, you’re looking for quick changes to make the system more bearable while not confirming or denying the possibility of a holistic revamp at some point in the indeterminate future?
Because knowing that would really settle some of my anxiety about the existence of this request for feedback.
Yup. and I would replace the word possibility with the word probability…
He wants to know how to make what we’ve got tolerable in the more foreseeable future, which means he needs clear and concise lists focused on a single topic in order to act more quickly and effectively.
He’s telling us what he wants so that he can work on something specific. This is how feedback is supposed to work.
We all know the current system is majorly flawed. Heck, THEY know the current system is majorly flawed, but they’re trying to do what they can in the short-term so that they have the freedom to consider the long-term.
Oh! Okay. So what you’re saying is that feedback works when there’s an interaction between both parties, wherein one party communicates what they need and the other party communicates what they need to know in order to give the first party what they need? Thanks for clearing that up. Obviously my anger is misplaced.
See, I was under the impression that when this so-called “feedback thread” was started, four and a half months ago, we were providing the developers with feedback. I didn’t realize that I was supposed to wait for them to draw out specifications before giving my feedback, and I certainly didn’t realize that it would take them nearly half a year to come up with a suitable line of communication.
I obviously have a lot to learn about how feedback “works.”
The most offensive trait unlocks are the vendor books.
40g and 360 skillpoints is an exponential increase over the previous… what was it? 3g?
You want us to go through the traits list and do something you should be doing because you can’t be bothered to go through this 43 page thread that’s been around since April? This “specific information” you’re after? It’s all here. It’s been stated and restated.
Seriously, what kind of confidence am I supposed to have in the development team at this point?
This is the sort of communication that would have been helpful to guide the discussion immediately following the feature patch. Heck, even a month or two afterward. But nearly five months, and you are going to disregard the entirety of the thread because it’s too much to read?
Mr. Peters, I can appreciate that you’re trying to get feedback here, but I’ve been trying to get my feedback heard for four months, now. It’s more than a little disappointing to have given my feedback already, only to have you come in and complain about the length of the thread being imposing. Did anyone at Anet try to navigate this system before it was implemented? If you genuinely don’t have time to go back through and read the feedback, I’m afraid I don’t have time to reiterate the feedback I’ve already left.
Here’s a tip, though: The wiki for gw2 has a breakdown of all the traits and their tasks. You can use it to easily see the items that are not level-appropriate. Start there.
