Well, maybe, as in GW1, you would choose from the five instances which you’d like your guild hall to be.

Can I change my email totally?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Inculpatus cedo.9234

Inculpatus cedo.9234

So recently I created a new email address that I will be using more regularly. I have changed my log in and account email for multiple other sites (Origin, SWTOR, PSN to name a few) so that my new email address is also my log in (to sites where you log in with email addresses) to both those sites and game clients. For some reason, I cannot find the same thing on the GW2 site. I went to the forum and hit “edit profile” and changed what appeared to be “account email” to my new email, but when I tried logging in with the new email, it said invalid information. When I logged in with my previous email, it let me in. Yet up top under my account name it says my new email, not my old one. Does it take a day or two to update? Or can I just not change my log in email at all?
Any help and fast responses would be appreciated.
Thanks!

You must seek assistance from Customer Support to change the email associated with your game account. I would not recommend using the same email that you have signed up for other sites as your game account email. That allows phishers access to your mail and ‘hackers’ half the information to get into your account.

Are you sure the character name is correct? Did you change the password after having linked the two accounts? Those are some things that come to mind.

1: 90% certain. The character name I supplied when the login failed was my very first character, BUT I believe I may have deleted that character. Don’t know if that would affect things.

Otherwise, I can’t remember any character names on the account. I can still provide my original serial key as I have it right here on my disc slipcase. (DON’T WORRY! I’m NOT gonna post it here obviously ) Email is the same as my GW2 account. Password seems to be correct, due to my ability to log in to GW2

2: It has been changed after they were linked, but surely the fact that they’re linked would mean they’re changed on a single ‘login server’ rather than on one client and not the other.

1. I do believe deleting the character would have an effect. I think you must use a currently viable character.

2. The reason I asked is if you had not changed your password after the link, you would need to use your original GW1 password. Linking the accounts alone would not change the password.

You might try looking for any old saved screenshots, or such, from GW1. You might find a character name there. Good luck. =)

Where did my Gems go?

Inculpatus cedo.9234

Didn’t we get the equivalent of play money gems during the beta weekends? I thought we got something like 2000 gems to play with in the BLT, but just for beta, not to be kept after the official opening.

Yes, we did. I remember buying some minis and a box of fun. But everything, including the gems, was wiped at the next Beta Weekend. If the OP is referring to those, I think he might be confused.

Per the wiki:

The first Beta Weekend Event began on Friday, April 27, at noon PDT (UTC-7) (start time for other timezones) and ended on Sunday, April 29, at 11:59 p.m. PDT (UTC-7) (end time for other timezones).

Players could create human, charr, or norn characters. The sylvari and asura were unavailable in this event.
Players had access to Lion’s Arch, the starting areas for the three races above, and six explorable zones: Queensdale, Kessex Hills, Wayfarer Foothills, Snowden Drifts, Plains of Ashford, and Diessa Plateau.
Players were granted 2,000 Gem.png (this required a valid credit card, although payment was not required during the event) and free transfers between worlds, but Guesting was not possible. 7
This beta concluded with a finale event: “The Great Critter Hunt” in Wayfarer Foothills; players fought overpowered animals such as racoons, rats, pigs, white rabbits, and black moas to gain norn glory. Some servers also saw an invasion of giant legendary castle lords.

Did you purchase these missing gems? Because, as far as I know, no one received a hefty amount of gems just for pre-purchase, or any other reason. The only time we got gems at or after launch was if we had purchased some during one of the Beta weekends, a small amount from Achievement chests, and…I think that’s it.

Okay. The tournament, or whatever it’s called lasts for several weeks. Just like with most of the release achievements, things are crowded in the beginning, and then people drift away to do other things. It will most likely be the same for this meta achievement. A flurry of activity to start, and then settle down to those that enjoy that particular content. At least, that’s what I’m guessing.

If you aren’t on JQ, SOR, or BG then a PvE’ers wont make a lick of difference in WvW or the leagues….

Couldn’t be farther from the truth. Those PvErs are going to be looking for any decent guild out there to leech captures and get their Meta done. Lots of guilds run without tags and actively tell ‘Pugs’ to leave them alone because they rally other people. Happens now, will happen when this comes out.

Guess you didn’t get my joke…in the gold league of the top 12 servers, any server below the top 3 don’t stand a chance at winning the league, population differences is too extreme between each server. A few pve’ers aren’t going to be the “oh kitten deciding factor” in the number 7’s chances at winning the league, they weren’t even in the running from the beginning

But, aren’t the servers separated into groups? 3 groups for NA, and 2 for EU? I am guessing that would make some difference in each league. I could be wrong, of course. =)

I really enjoy the invasions. And, yes, ‘yay, Champ loot’. I’m not much of an Orr person, so it’s great, in my eyes, to get those high-level mats from the loot bags/boxes. Plus, getting a named exotic is always an ‘Oh, yes!’ moment. Now I am looking forward to one of those Ascended gear boxes. =)

This post pretty much sums up why the game has become what it has become. People don’t mind if the difficulty is trivial. In fact, they’d rather have it trivial as long as it comes with a big, fat loot piñata.

They don’t want to earn anything. They just want to have everything.

Not finding the aesthetics of Orr particularly pleasing has nothing to do with my skill level, or perceived lack thereof. You may follow the zerg in invasions, I prefer to interact with the portals with a smaller group. The ‘loot’ is good, there is no denying that. I am happy to have the opportunity once every couple of days, as I find it exciting.

It’s posts like these that demonstrate what’s wrong with the community on these forums. People don’t want to ‘learn’ anything. They just want to ‘make’ uninformed judgments.

See what I did there? Thanks for your feedback, though. =)

WvW: Season 1 vs PvE

If you haven’t, check out the article on WvW Season 1:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/welcome-to-world-vs-world-season-1/

When Season 1 starts, there will be more stuff to win in WvW, and it will likely become even more important to some people. By itself, I think that’s great and kind of overdue.

The problem is, there’s still PvE stuff to do in WvW. The jumping puzzle, world completion, gathering (can you find sugar pumpkins anywhere else in the game?), and even a ranger pet that can only be found there. This means that people with no interest in PvP will head in and be running around. Depending on the time of day, they may be displacing people who actually want to get in there and fight to win the WvW rewards.

I’m not sure how much of a difference the PvEers make when they take up player slots in WvW, or if it’s enough to matter. But with the stakes for winning at WvW going up, are we actually okay with this conflict? Is ANet?

Yes, I believe there is a patch not far from the zone portal to Frostgorge from Wayfarer’s…near the Grawl camp. Pretty sure those are sugar pumpkins, lol.

Oh, wiki says they can be found in Bloodtide Coast, as well, so I could be mistaken about what’s at the Grawl camp. Regardless, I have lots of them and I’ve never seen one in WvW. Probably because I rarely visit there. Lol. =)

Thinking about it more, I think those are some other kind of squash in Frostgorge. But, I do know there is a sugar pumpkin patch…somewhere. Lol.

Here is a link to the farms, so you don’t have to keep an eye out, if you don’t want to: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sugar_Pumpkin_%28node%29

I’m not sure it’s the best practice to advertise one item for sale, and then once it is purchased, it turns out to be something different than what was advertised. I know it has made me wary of purchasing more items. In fact, I would have purchased a particular item last week, but having had this experience last month, I could not be sure the item would be viable or as advertised, and so I did not make the additional purchase.

Perhaps the seemingly cut-and-paste/automatic responses sent out from support could be examined, because the ‘sorry, we can’t help you and that’s just the way it is’ replies don’t leave the best taste in the mouth of consumers. Just my opinion, of course.

I’ve been playing around with my graphics settings since they removed culling to try and get a good balance of appearance and speed and I think this might be worth checking but I can’t see anything with that name or which could be obviously abbreviated to it in the options.

Isn’t FXAA the first of the options in Graphics? A kind of on or off selection? Top of the list of drop-downs? Maybe it’s been moved or changed, I haven’t messed with my settings in awhile.

This made me smile. Thank you. =)

On topic, I am not sure what the complaint is. I see the very occasional red ping mark on a map, people link the location of champs or events often. Isn’t that what they are for? I rarely have map chat on in town, so if the problem is there, I miss out. Actually, I usually only have map chat on during invasions, because it can be faster than opening the map.

I’m really waiting for a GM to review this post. I appreciate any advice you all can give me, but of course all we can do is speculate rather than give solid information.

Regardless, what happened was:

I was kicked off the game (no warning message, no mention of which character, why I was kicked, or when I’d be back on). I immediately tried to log back in, and saw a “Your GW2 account has been suspended for use an unacceptable name … Access will be restored in approximately 72 hour(s).”

It’s been almost 24 hours later and the message is still there: blocking me from entering the game and changing my name.

And again, this has never happened before and I have never received any disciplinary action from any member of the GW2 staff.

If you have not yet, you should submit a ticket to Customer Support. This is, most likely, the response you will get from anyone seeing your post. That will be the quickest way to get answers. Good luck. =)

You say they use metrics to determine what people are doing in-game, instead of listening to (your words) the minority on this forum.

You suggest we should pay to unlock BiS. I am not sure changing to game into Pay-to-win would be favorably received by the minority, the majority, or anyone (except maybe you).

Well, either the devs will read your post and consider your feedback, or…..as you state…they will ignore it, which makes one wonder why you posted here.

Still, you don’t find me complaining all over the forums; some people love it, and I am happy this game has some things each of us can enjoy. I really don’t understand some of the vitriol on the forums, and I feel for the devs; it can’t be easy to try to sift through some of the cesspools and find some constructive feedback. There really is no need to attack those that are providing so much for so little cost. Queensdale vs frost gorge vs ... ?

Inculpatus cedo.9234

I only do frostgorge which im sure is better than queensdale. I’d say Frostgorge is the best there is.

You get the same champ loot bags from each family of champs, correct?

They all have the same chance to drop said items/mats if its a lvl 10 or lvl 70 champ, correct?

So if that’s the case, then are the higher zones more profitable because your “trash” loot outside of the bags is of a higher lvl thus vendoring for more?

This isn’t exactly correct. If you are level 80, you have a 50% chance of getting a Champion box at your level from Champs that are not max level. And 50% chance at getting a box at their level. So, if, as a level 80, you are killing level 10 champs, you have a 50% chance of getting a level 10 Champ box with level 10 mats within. Though, some starter mats sell pretty darn well on the TP. I’m not sure what all is in the boxes as I’ve never run a Champ train. So, if you are looking for high-level mats, the high-level zones would be best.

You can actually obtain these without going out of your way. Unless, of course, your way of playing is parking in LA, or something, I guess.

Why can’t there be things in this game that take some time to obtain? Why must people rush to get them, and then complain about ‘grinding’ for them? It boggles my mind, truly. =(
