They’d have this if Unyielding Anguish was more easily controlled as to where people would get teleported.

the randomness of the teleport from this skill is useful in PvP since enemy players also have to adjust.

So condition, and UA, and sit back. Works well. only problem is Energy cost.

Actually the “big damage” class got a terrible damage elite specialization. Tempest is pretty awful for damage.

Thats because tempest is meant for support and defense in group content.

Thats very poor game design.
keep in mind that GW2 is a more action oriented splash damage game,
and rhe Warrior is a primary melee oriented class.

adding tons of Self Damage, to a class that has to fight in melee range against splash damage sources isnt smart game design.

I don’t think drones are gonna be minion-like since we already have turrets, which are basically static minions. Maybe they just act like ranger spirits and grant buffs to allies.
Anyway, i’ll look forward to this with the same attitude as always: Anet will screw it up.
If they don’t, im pleasantly surprised, if they do, i can say “told ya” and at least feel a little better.

Med kit is some kind of dissapointment and the mortar just because of that design.

i have to disagree with that logic, seeing that warriors got a new skill type that is pretty much the same thing as a unique skill type it already had, but by a different name and added bonus. Physicals and Rage skills seem identical.

Talk about calling it. I’ve been theorizing with my buddies for weeks that the Berserker elite would have skills similar to necromancer corruptions in that, in exchange for health, you’d give yourself a boost in strength. I will get myself a cookie now.

Okay, that’s enough patting myself on the back. Anyways… I’m curious as to how sacrificial skills are going to work. I was thinking of something more along the lines of a dagger off-hand where you carve into yourself to send you into a berserk state. But instead we’re getting torch. So you… set yourself on fire? That’s… pretty hardcore, lol.

So far, I think it’ll be cool, and I’m anxious to see what the torch will bring to the profession.

Guard Torch already sets self on fire.

But I assume they will get corruption like skills as well.
I likely will avoid those skills. Hope the Mechanics make up for it on other builds.

Hey everybody! Seeing as how I don’t really see any posts from anybody who participated in the ranger CDI showing off when the idea was first presented to us, and seeing as how some unconfirmed information from reddit has relayed to us that we will potentially getting aspects and glyphs, I wanted to share some relevant information that was brought up in the CDI by the devs regarding aspects.

Hopefully somebody appreciates these quotes, all from devs:

As Orca pointed out, some people aren’t as fond of the pets. The idea of the buff would be to appease everyone. Also, what if stowing the pet and having an aspect gave the Ranger some kind of aura that communicated to others they are in that “aspect”? Would it still feel like the pet was a part of you if them being stowed affected your physical appearance?
If not, I don’t think the aspect idea would be a necessity for players. There are definitely things that need to be done to fix Ranger pets in general, and it’s something we are well aware of. If we fixed those things, but maybe also added in the aspect idea, I think we’d be in a spot where everyone would be pleased, no?
Just musing!

That is exactly my point. We want to make sure we’ve done everything we can to make the pet desirable before we consider any options for those that don’t want to play with the pet as much.

We kicked around the idea of giving the ranger an “aspect of _______” which we moved to a new thread because it is elaborate and should be a single topic in itself. The idea is that it would give the pet more utility with swapping/stowing, but it wouldn’t retire the pet completely.

…The reason why I latched onto the aspect idea was because it was an option that seemed we could maybe work around. Rather than having to rebalance the whole class, we’d just have to balance the aspects to be similar to what the pet does damage-wise. That seemed a little more viable…

…The aspects I think were a little different. They talked about having specific bonuses based on the pet that the player was using. That is different from just giving a damage boost, which could end up being difficult to balance.

skill #1 literally couldn’t hit a fish in a barrel in pvp
skill #3 can’t be fired behind you and is about as practical as trying to stop a gunman by shooting his bullets with your own bullets in actual application.
skill #4 can’t be fired behind you and takes entirely too long to land.
skill #5 has way too long of a root for the ward effect to take effect in the last shot.

not to mention all the under 500 range “obstructed” errors with all the skills.

I really want to know where Anet is getting these “well received” feedbacks from, happy go lucky PvE streamers that only roleplay and farm silverwastes?

Remember the Developers are not using the same build we played. Their inhouse testers are using a different build of Dragon Huntet. All Elite specialization were nerfed in the public beta to not be too OP in Vanilla Content. All Elite specialization are built and balanced around HoT Group Content.

so no telling what the inhouse testers feel about the Dragon Hunter Long Bow in the HoT Group content.

our job is to let them know the LB isnt good in Vanilla content and PvP.

Even before the HoT announcement/LB hype, I’ve always wanted guards to have a proper ranged 1 handed wep to pair for focus.

Seeing how kitten y/clunky the DH is and how fragile longbows leave guardians has only made me want spears even more.

Yes we likely will, but Dragon Huntet is clearly meant for a more defensive control oriented specialization with condition damage focused offense. Its built for HoT Group Content, not Vanilla GW2 content, which is why its so bad. Also all Elite Specialization in public beta are tuned down for the vanilla gameplay. The inhouse testers arent using the same build that we use, keep that in mind. The in house testers are using the Elite Specialization in the new Group content. We are just sampling the elite specialization and testing out their balance in vanilla content which likely functions differently pve wise to HoT group content.

Before it was definitely an Elementalist who swapped constantly rather than camp Water.

1. That’s a very kittenumption. You assume Healing will be required at all.

2. That means it’s useless for old content; none of the other elite specs are designed like this. Why is ours screwed over?

3. The healing got buffed because originally SWAPPING CONSTANTLY WAS BETTER. Why is the risky heal doing so much worse than the super safe one? It’s not even about new group content, it’s just about good design. I mean, it still sucks, but at least it heals for more than 3k.

Huh? None other Elite Specialization are like this you say.
Reaper… most of their skills are built around pve since they lack there in terms of aoe damage.
dragon hunter again built around control and pve.
mesmer pretty much got more support as well.
Tempest is all about group support and control.

also all elite specialization and skills were tuned down during beta intentionally. You really believe Anet inside testers are using the same build that we played in beta? This patch to the beta is built around insider testing, who likely are playing around in the new group content. Our beta test was a preview of whats to come, as well to test if the new elite specializations wont break vanilla content. All elite specialization were intentionally made weaker than their current build.

i makes sense for them to not be meta in old content because they are built for HoT after all… if HoT group content is built for something different, why build the HoT elite specialization around vanilla content? Makes little sense for them to do that. Anet simply handled all the info release and PR badly which is why the masses are so confused and mad.

What support? The only support it has is Boon Sharing, which relies on Arcane + Water to do well(which requires constant swapping and thus, goes against Overloads).
With the Water Overload buff, it’ll probably be much better at healing, but you pretty much have to camp Water with Staff, which is only usable for backline Healers in WvW.
What was the Tempest advertised as? That’s right, FRONT LINE SUPPORT.

Interesting, we continue to be in order on the Professions page, having only skipped Ranger. This gives me some hope for Thief next week, though as that will be the week leading up to PAX Prime we might not get a profession elite at all.

And makes me scared that Ranger will once again be glossed over as a profession with no direction.

Ranger getting two hander so they likely will get a changed mechanics to pet.

Even though your typing and formatting is pretty awful, I completely agree.

I was expecting elite specs to feel like sub-professions with a more focused and specialized playstyle. They don’t seem to be doing this. They seem to be doing the opposite where the base profession is just enhanced.

I would prefer to see more drastic changes and a less generic playstyle for each elite spec. If you don’t like that playstyle, well then, it’s a good thing you can still play the base profession.

Not gonna lie, I’m a little annoyed that they chose to go this route. I’ll use them, but it’s not what I wanted or expected.

Elite Specialization was always meant to expand the class and evolve them without being an upgrade. You get a new play style with Reaper. Which is why all elite specs get their own icons. Guardian Virtues change as well the way its played.

all two hander elite specs get changed mechanics and 1hander elite specs get mechanic additions.

so Thief Elite specialization gets changes to steal into something new. Engineer gets changes to toolbelt. Ranger gets new mechanics.

Warrior gets new edition to mechanics.

You obviously did not read any of the feedback given over the beta weekend!

These changes are pointless and do not address any of the core issues raised numerous times!

Traps are still garbage.
Traits are still garbage.
Virtues still have a cast time.
Deflecting Shot and Auto Attack are still garbage.

Honestly what is happening at ArenaNet? Do they hate Guardians that much that they would deliberately insult us with these “changes”?

Everything I am feeling is in this post… and everything below is targeted at the OP.

Are you kidding me? That’s it? You are correct about one thing, “distilling a lot of your comments” because obviously you didn’t listen to any of us.

We cried out for instant cast virtues because putting a cast time on a profession mechanic just seems like pure discrimination (Warrior and Engi are an exception, but only because it would be broken).
We cried out for increased projectile velocity because it’s too easily misguided by strafing or sudden movements ESPECIALLY in PvE.
We cried out for mobility while casting True Shot.
And most importantly, we cried out for a good set of traits! Who gives a kitten about 3s protection upon virtue activation? and about the lousy and lazily tossed around minor traits?
Most of these changes are far from fixing what’s wrong with the DH. We definitely didn’t need the increased heal and immob duration on F2. If you’re so concerned about “using {virtues} in the appropriate situations… so that… the choice remains a trade-off”, then reduce the cooldown and reduce the payout. Players need to be rewarded for skillful play more often than every 50-75 seconds. Right now, Guardian to me feels like nothing but a kitten class with three signets.

F1: Reduce the range back down to 900, increase the tether to 1200.
F2: Reduce the healing and immob duration back down, make the skill remove all movement-impairing conditions.
F3: Change this into a target area effect, like a ranged Shield of Absoprtion. Why should a LB spec have a front-line styled ability?

Make everything instant cast. F2 will function like Thief’s Withdraw; the movement happens immediately. Reduce the cooldowns.

If I could bet my money on anything, it’s that Irenio is just Karl’s alias because I feel like the same quality feedback was given.

I have to disagree with some of what you saying. Elite Specializations arent forced to use their new weapon. The increased heal on VoR was needed. If they plan for DH to be a tanky fighter for the new group content, it needs more defense for the tank group. VoC provides that added protection for the group from attacks. In group content, VoR was meant to jump to ally and save them.it needed heal buff.

VOJ needed range increase because its meant to go along with the offensive nature of DH which is its bow.

problem with DH is that the traits suck and Bow suck. But i fully understand the concepts behind the Virtues. They needed some buffs. Imo VoC should block all damage similar to focus. That would make an elite defender.

similar to the prereleased Long Bow for guardians, they need to make Bow into both a damage and support weapon.

traps need their cast time reduced. Some made baseline ground target.

My bet is the warrior use torch to lit himself on fire. He could deal AoE fire damage and/or act as a fire combo field. He could also transform’s weapons into some fire variation or summon some special version like ele. He could summon Fire based great hammer, greataxe and even barefist. (To be different from other summon weapons.)

That sounds like a good idea.

There is a picture of the Warrior with a great axe in the shout window. Wanted to point out that some other classes have hints at their Elite specialization in other windows as well. Necro has GS in one of their non Elite Specialization windows as well.

Lets see if i was right about Transformation.

Telling you all it will be based on transformation. The leaked picture of the Berserker was the same picture from the Norn intro showing off transformation racials. With the animals on the torch, its clear this elite spec deals with Animal Forms similar to Norn racials, but more powerful.

Yes Rev need damage reduction to the highest of any class if they plan to keep the current flawed Energy system, because right now Revs melt like butter in SPvP. In PvE npc are stupid and doesnt need much skill management to defeat. Same for WvW, zerg play makes all builds useful in some way.

SPvP is where everything breaks down.

Am I the only one to think that deemands like these seem stupid, when one hasn’t even seen the revenant in it’s current, reworked state of balance?

no. because on paper the original concept seem good, but really is flawed. even developers make bad decisions. Remember Weapon Swap addition?

for more reasons than just this. But my major MAJOR beef, is:

while your mouse is hovered over a selected targets healthbar (at the top of the screen), your ground-targeting cursor is placed at your characters feet.

I really can’t believe this has not been changed/fixed after this long. it makes long range (and even mid range) combat clunky or just stupid for any class that makes extensive use of ground targeting (thinking mostly of engys)

please PLEASE make the ui transparent to ground targeting.

I agree with this. bad design decision.

I am concerned about how this new league feature will effect the community as well as underpowered classes.

this reminds me a lot of Arenas from WoW. The small scale PvP is never well balanced in any game with unique classes. So some classes were not welcomed in Arena using certain builds.

discrimination is going to happen big time now that losing is a punishment. You thought the community was bad before in SPvP, just wait until this feature is added. You heard it here first people. Cant say I didnt warn.
