Now this season is truly a joke… Noone on lol or Dota can/could climb from the lowest division to the highest one in 22 hours. I am only getting one thing out of this : Insanely casual.

None of them has the same ranking system. HS does, and you can actually climb with ~hours as Leeto did

Thing is Shroud 2 isnt as reliable as it was old DS#2

Shroud 2 looks like it would be easier to hit in its original form but it has double the cooldown as reaper shroud 2 not to mention the projectile blocking and blind on the last hit. I just see so much more utility on a lower cooldown outside of the boon stripping potential when traited

I know, RS2 is way better than DS2 in various aspects, but it sucks when traited for boon corrupt, you just succesfully use it when cleaving

I dont see the problem tbh. What I see is people that just play PvP casually and now want the backpack and complain about getting rekt by better players

I don’t play casually, I have 2000 games played. I have the exact same story as many others, and that is regular blowouts. Maybe I’m crap, even after so many games—-I don’t mind losing, just pair me with evenly matched players for god’s sake! Give me close matches, even if they’re losses, just not this bullkitten that is happening now.

The matchmaking is utterly broken.

Those who use the broken builds are banded together. Those who don’t are used as cannon fodder for the broken to get easy wins and keep the exploiters happy.

I can take care of 1 or 2 guys with broken builds with the builds I make myself. By I can’t fight 1v5, and the teammates I get are basically useless. They just run to the enemy and get defeated in 3 hits. Often run to them alone. They never disengage, and are always stepping into the mindless stack&spam areas created by the unskilled players with broken builds.

It’s like having people fight with baseball bats and paper armors against people with flamethrowers and bomb suits. I run avoiding the flame jet, get behind the guy with the flamethrower, land a few hits that do so little that the guy in the bomb suit won’t even turn around to hit back, and meanwhile the rest of my team is dying in a blaze of fire because they have decided that running straight into the fire was the greatest idea ever.

I’m yet to see a single match that doesn’t work like that. Not a single match ending anywhere near 400vs500. One side always gets 0-100 points. I woul not mind losing so much if the matches were closer, if I at least see my team mates try. If the teams where more or less equivalent.

Why aren’t at least 1 or 2 of the guys with the broken builds in my team instead having them all in one?

SoloQ should not mean “alone with other 4 other people so incompetent it’s hard to believe they are not losing on purpose against 5 cowards that exploit the bad balance to basically win matches by randomly mashing the keyboard with their elbows”.

I’ve been able to predict the outcome of every single match for the last 2 weeks. I just need to see the enemy professions, my team’s professions, and I’ll know if my temmates will be able to do anything against the enemy to win or just run to them and die. Every. Single. Time. Not a single exception so far. That is madness.

Yes, because he has very good MMR. The system is as such that all good MMR players are pooled to one team, and the other team is of a lower MMR. So a ESL player getting this is what the system is designed to do. Get the “pros” where they belong.

How did ANet not see the problems with people hitting legendary this quickly? There is nothing but a leaderboard, which only a very small amount of players even care about. These same pros cried last season because they where only facing people.of similar skill and it was taking them forever to climb. Now hit the top with probably over a month of the league left, and ANet wonder why people are burning out and not playing.

The facts are, people are only playing the league for the back item. When the can get no further with it, they’ll stop playing, or at most do the daily 3 matches. Unless something changes for the better to the average player, the same problems will be repeated every season. Same for the pros. They’ll shoot up, end up fighting the same people, get board.

The rage is real, the salt is flowing like rivers in HoTM, we won’t even start with matches.

ANet needs to decide if ranked is for everyone, or just the pro players. If every season is going to be like this I might as well stop playing ranked as it’s really not fun anymore.

You see, you pointed out the problem right there. With out the back pack, everyone would still be playing unranked. Ranked would have the same amount of people it’s always had. The only reason people are playing the league is for the back pack. I know I am. There is no reason to play ranked. Zero. You get the same stuff at the same pace in unranked, not to mention a nicer experience.

Unrank is supposed to accomplish this, Ranked is about showing your skill, and so working as intended (with flaws, but duh)

If you dont want to use the mobility of your thief in order to beat this slow af comps, then I dont know why you should be supposed to win. Play unrank if you want to chill/play how you want.

I’m probably going to be the odd-ball out here, but I actually don’t like the Treb, but I see the appeal for it. It’s effective, but I don’t think it’s an overly fun mechanic. I avoid Khylo as much as i can.

My favourite map is temple due to being that mechainic the one that imo rewards more rotations, PvP and conquest in overall

What set up do you refer to? Illusionary leap. The audible tell for that is over the top. Equivalent to a fire alarm.

In a team fight, may be harder. But at least your team can prepare if they see a continuum. Moa does not have to be pointing at its target to actually moa the person, so I always just dodge when I see it on the ground.

But honestly you should focus the mesmer in the team fight. They are squishy anyway. force them to portal out. have your necro use marks when the mesmer is blocking.

I thought this thread was more concerned about 1v1. Because in a team fight everything is harder, so there is no end all advice for it.

Illusionary leap, fake moa, waste your cd’s. Tides of Times, moa’d. Or if enemy uses stunbreak, stow moa, wait for Illusionary Leap cd again and moa. This kind of setup.

The necromancer matchup is not too bad vs mesmer. What you have to be careful about is being dazed by the shatter in intervals because the clones hit you at different times.

For everyone about moa. I hate it too. But if you see the continuum warp on the ground just dodge/block. you will do yourself a favor. I am not saying it is balanced in any way with the double moa, but at this point, it is a pretty standard rotation.

No mesmer is dumb enough to put moa on a full 180cd so there is always a continuum on the ground.

Problem is, no mesmer is dumb enough to use moa without a proper set-up, so its not only about dodging :/

well torment does not do much damage if you don’t move, and confusion is useless unless you use a skill. my advice, stand still and don’t use any skills

So you ate sling him to die without putting a fight?

Actually by standing still and just using blocks/evades/condi cleanse you can tank a condi mesm for a while

Confusion does more dmg on skill activation, although you are taking less dmg by standing still( from torment); using a block would negate what you are trying to do ( that is decrease the dmg taken).

If you just use blocks, and just in order to block shatters, you’re mitigating way more dmg than both spamming skills and not using any skill at all

@ ROC I said at the start the start of the thread the ability to get knocked off the edge of the map is funny. You know it’s your own fault for getting too close to the edge. And I asked for no railings, and no change to instant death on the map edge. The abuse is specifically refering to the holes where mesmer can easily pull you into them, or skyhammer platform where you can get feared off by warriors. Their fear is unblockable, disables all your skills and lasts for 3 seconds. On that small platform you can be in the center and get feared off and there’s no way to avoid it.

Add gliders. Problem solved

They can’t because people who don’t have HoT won’t have them.

I mean, that’s not REALLY an excuse. Could just have them exclusively on for sky hammer for all players.

The wings still need some practice to get the hang of them.

You can say a lot of things against PvP gliding, but c’mon, you literally need 10s of gliding to master it

How do you kill a condi mesmer who puts confusion and tormenting on you, im a rev and have no condi cleanse, i can survive the first wave of condis with glint heal. But after that im kittened, condis 24/7 and cc on that. And dont says time your cc and nuke him down, cause that is impossible, atleast for me.

Condi mesm is the best metabuild for duels, so dont engage a1v1 against him

Marks work just fine on crystal hibernation, atleast the staff 5, why would you use anything else except it or warhorn 4 on rev when he is channeling ch? Interrupt and rekt them. Also how is this possible a necro crying about rev’s? We eat revs alive thanks to our new corrupts. Try playing a rev before you cry and you realize it will take really good player to beat a necro on a rev and then it’s deserved win.

He’s not crying, he’s remarking a bug, dont be childish. Also, actually you want to use most of your marks when he’s blocking cause you will always land them, otherwise he can randomly quadruple dodge marks.

Personally I like Skyhammer, but many of the suggestions seems quite promising, in particular making the Hammer plataform bigger and with multiple entrances.
I would definitely keep Skyhammer on the Unranked rotation, otherwise it will be risking throwing it on oblivion like what happened to Courtyard.

At least you can play CY on private servers…

Awesome thread so far everyone! I really appreciate everyone taking the time to write up their feedback and keep it constructive. Let’s do a quick recap:

  • Remove/adjust the breakable panels at A and C point or Add second layer under the hole so players dont die, but still lose time for falling into them
    * Which do you like better?

Second one is acceptable I guess, but its similar to lets say old engie decap, which promotes frustrating gameplay by constantly CCing someone out of the point, or give you a huge advantage at capping the point by CCing them

  • Glass Panels only break from cannon fire
    * What do we think about this suggestion?

I kinda like this one, even making panels bigger but reducing the damage from Skyhammer.

  • Enlarge the Skyhammer Platform, Add line of sight props
  • Add multiple portals to get to and from the skyhammer platform
    * Does this have to be in both places: in center of map and skyhammer platform or just the skyhammer platform?

Skyhammer platform, so it doesnt promotes trap stacking, and imo other places around the map, not only mid

  • Adjust the jump pads
  • Take away the ability to die from falling damage
    * Do we want to completely remove the ability to die from falling damage or make it only in very specific places?

    * Do we want to completely remove this because of gameplay/camera problems or adjust it as it creates good gameplay but messes with camera

As posted right before you, I would totally rework SH mechanic as right now its kinda like a treb 2.0. My suggestion was to teleport the user to the targeted area, which can be a fun and interesting mechanic.

Maybe this change is a lil bit radical, but it could be interesting. Right now Skyhammer favours CC builds, and the core mechanic is a copy pasta of Khylo, so as a proposed change I would remove both.

First, panels and bouncie thinggies are removed, and you rework the map a little bit with bridges/ramps so you can get to everywhere without the “jumpers”. Also you can take the chance to look at all the path errors around the map. Second, as a skyhammer rework, now you make skyhammer more accesible and usable by both teams simulatenously, and you make it so it teleports you to the targeted area instead of firing there. Imo that would be a really interesting and innovative mechanic for the map

The panels always bugged me on this map. I think the flash before they fall, but sometimes it is hard to tell and then bam, you fell off the map.

The positions of the nodes are nice with respect to the spawns. I would not change their locations. Maybe make them wider though.

I really hate the unreliability of the elevators. Especially if you miss the jump you have to wait a few seconds before you can take the elevator again. This gets annoying for classes that cannot port up and down quickly.

Along those lines, because of the z changes on the map, I have run into a lot of no valid path to target issues when attempting to infiltrator arrow around the board.

I think the hammer should do slightly less damage but be able to fire at a faster rate. It is stronger than the treb currently.

Pretty much. Also, someone proposed that with HoT launch Skyhammer could have some updrafts under the panels, so you are punished if you stand there but you dont directly die, just lose some time while going up. Problem would be attacking flying enemies, which would be kinda weird :/

I say this with salt because I firmly believe “Elo Hell” exists. The last few matches I’m lucky if one person even say’s a single thing all match long. My last match was against 3 thieves, a Necro, and a DH. That should have been an easy win and yet, it’s a loss. Why, because only one person spoke, eventually. Another AFK’d from the start until called out and then just left. Matches are such a bag of crud that I can’t possibly believe someone hit Legend Solo Q’ing. Unless, because you are good, your early wins in Amber gave you an increased MMR. Where you were stacked with good players the entire time.

It never occurred to you to click on the stream link in his signature?
And if anything this proves that it’s too easy for lower MMR players to hit legendary through pure grinding if he managed to hit legendary with an F2P alt acc that probably wouldn’t have high MMR.

All this shows is that MMR is completely broken. The system is boned, and ANet have no idea how to “fix” it. All because some so called “pro’s” complained that season one was too hard for them. So ANet pandered to them and we now have the Pro players thinking they are god like because the system matched them to win there games. And the normal folk who make up the core of every thing in an MMO get the shaft.

There have been very few games when I’ve won and thought, man that was close, but I deserved that win. Most wins have been walk overs. Player quality is not going to increase this way. Not having a hope to win will mean you just burn out players who stop playing the mode. It’s not a good thing.

So, someone with fresh MMR hits legend cause hes good and people still say that you can just hit legendary if you had good MMR since start… Dont you see how Leeto is the evidence that MM is actually working?

You have a point, but there’s a decent amount of ways, notably by corrupting stability, to interrupt others while using a necro. That’s why I thought a perk to capitalize this capability would be nice.

The Beyond the Veil – jagged horror mark buff would be crazy to abuse. 5 jagged horrors every 30s or less. That would be even more broken than the Viper Horror adrenal mushroom abuse on Sabetha, that was nerfed.

Oh no doubt it would be too strong, but it still would be one hell of a thing to have/use.

Yes, I know, but even if necro has a huge load of CC, its not instant CC, and therefore you will not intentionally interrupt anything unless you predicted that the enemy was going to use that skill

i love how people say that moa is blockable, dodgeable and has a ridiculously long cast and you can t see the mesmer casting that because of the visual spamfest.

Basically this. Even if moa has questionable problems by itself, the thing that really annoys me is that you can succesfully cast it with 0 set up cause of the clusterfights

so fixing the spamfest

by your logic other powerful skills are much harder to see since many have less than 1 s casting time like engi gyro , ranger S&R necro chill lol and passive procs
so why picking up moa srsly ?

Is people kittened or what? OP doesnt refers pressing 1 to 0 and repeat, but the fact that for example I can miss a whole electro-whirl and I will be low punished for it cause it just have a 4s cd, while the skill does huge dmg and brings utility. Meanwhile, on a teamfight I have 0 reasons to not spam this skill off cd cause I will prob not need the missil reflect and even if I dont take 100% profit of the dmg after a few seconds I will have it off cd again.

They need to provide alternate paths for earning these materials, for players who want the final result just as much as any PvPer, but do not enjoy PvP gameplay nearly as much.

Then Anet should implement the same with fractal backpack, plus raid loot plus a lot of other things, dunno….

Well, rev is op, the only way to outrotate a rev is to bring another rev

Now that is not true. Thies is still the fastest profession in the game. A rev has a chance at chasing me, thats all. As stated before, a 1v1 thief vs rev usually favours the thief, rev just performs better in teamfights and against most other classes.

Revs are op, but not due to mechanics or complete broken’ness. They just have too high numbers on a couple of skills and their sustain is too braindead where it should be based on skill and good movement.

But thief loses fair fights, rev doesnt, so my point stands. A thief will rotate to plus one someone, while rev can do it equally fast but also he can rotate to fair fights, which means that hes overperforming with his rotations compared to thief
