Is TSS not a huge guild? Why is it out of your reach to get those boss spawn thingies? Please do explain that to me. If anything that specific change should make it even easier for a huge guild to do World Events as they can do them at will.

The answer lies in this very thread, a few post up from yours. Try reading Daemon’s post.

Because mining the ore on one character and then immediately switching to another character to mine the exact same ore is an exploit. Plain and simple. It doesn’t make sense logically, or RP wise or anything. Randomizing makes much more sense. It’s just that people are upset they can’t gather in the same places over and over.

All IMHO of course.

There are permanent rich ore node locations on most maps. Your “opinion” is just plain, factually incorrect within the scope of the game.

Hm, maybe this is why I end up on the losing side quite a bit.. I don’t attempt any of this switching. Tbh, why is this even there? And the constant 5v4, 6v5s or whatever do get tiresome. I find myself often on the team with fewer people. In a perfect world, it would be nice if the matches didn’t start until there were an even number of people and then only let people join two at a time after that, just to at least keep numbers balanced.

Lothirieth.3408

I’m totally with him on this, my advice to anyone who isn’t having fun in pvp anymore due to balance is to just stop trying to fight for your favourite builds to be viable and just go with the cheese. And tbh a lot of high ranks (50-60+) reflect that, from the ones I typically see often in ranked and hotjoins they all run one of the meta builds. I literally can’t remember a time when I have seen a high ranked player using a build that I couldn’t identify within seconds.

So yeah, you might find an axe necro fun for 1-2 games where you think to yourself ’_it’s not super strong or anything but It’s at least decent enough to have a go_’. And then mouth breather warriors or whatever lyssa-abuser specs are popular atm roll in and stomp you with ease, the kind of ease that makes you want to leave from embarrassment because you must be afk letting the cat play to have lost so easily and achieved so little in the process.

I’d get used to that now, because little is going to change come April 15th, the day that will forever go down as ‘we thought 8% was a good idea

Heh, this is why I succumbed to playing a hambow a bit… I was tired of getting beat up by them. Yet.. I still felt bad inflicting that on other players. :P

Or at least let us buy item tokens for gold. I didn’t spend my glory immediately, so was able to use up a fair amount of my mats, but I did use up the remaining glory I had after that on some mystery coffers. Then on one of my last salvages.. bam.. some more mats that would allow me to try for the item I was unsuccessful at getting earlier. But nope, can’t try as I’ve no glory left to buy the item token.

I’m happy with all of the changes they’ve discussed so far (aside from the nerfing events and champ loot) but, I think they’ve made a mistake holding off these changes in favour of lumping them all together for one big patch. Many changes are great and I’m thankful they are making them, but will they win back players that have left or are getting fed up with being strung along for so long? I have to go with no.

If u haven’t figured out that this feature patch was designed to help minimize the damage ESO might do to gw2 then there is no way to help you. This was meant to bring back some hype.

I didn’t even mention the feature patch or it’s timing.. so.. er… yeah. I don’t need helped, thanks.

Also I can tell you what you could get in 3 days, not 3 weeks. I got my full orr set for all 3 classes and nearly all those weapons. I got wings of dwayna and feather of dwayna both worth about 200g each when I checked. I could have grinded for the cultural armor within those 3 weeks: bday booster + glory booster.

I think most pve’ers wouldn’t be able to tolerate that much pvp. I have serious doubts that they’d subject themselves to so many hours of it especially considering so many pve’ers have thousands of dungeon tokens already and make more money in those. (Orr being the exception for ease of skins.)

The point being the impact would have been kitten the general economy. Considering all the pvpz iz ded post, I doubt the impact not having rewards for a few weeks is more important than protecting the game.

Please explain to me how people flooding to pvp is more damaging to the economy than people flooding to dungeons or champ trains.

Some sarcasm detectors seem broken in this thread. ^^

We removed glory and match reward chests early to prevent a flood of PvE players from coming into PvP just to fill their wardrobe. While the our team would LOVE everyone playing PvP, some super smart economist peopleguys said it would have negative repercussions on the in-game economy or something.

That seems so very, very unlikely. Maybe regarding dyes, but just dyes could have been removed. I really have to wonder realistically how far a pve-only player could have gotten in 3 weeks. And honestly, wouldn’t they just go run the dungeons to get said dungeon gear? Or run dungeons to buy cultural armor? It’s a heck of a lot more profitable to do so and fitting with their play style. And how would this have any repercussions on the economy any more than now people possible running more dungeons to get that gear given dungeons are more profitable?

Seems like some bad decisions were made.

Just thought I’d make a thread to say I’m really excited about the Wardrobe! Most people on the forums prefer to whine and rage all the time, unfortunately.

What ANet needs is to see that some of us appreciate their work.

I see the majority of people posting positively.

But.. criticism or a valid complaint does not equal whining or raging. It’s getting seriously tiresome to see how people catagorise anything they don’t like or disagree with as whining, crying, raging, QQing, etc. Sure there is some of that out there, but the vast majority of criticism comes from adults who don’t deserve to have their posts boiled down to such childish terms.

I wonder how it will affect the costs of legendaries, I can see a demand for tradeable weapons just to unlock the skin and then resell.

It will be interesting. I could mean more demand as this might make more people consider getting one, but at the same time, if one wanted Sunrise on two characters, you no longer need two Sunrises.

If you have an item that has gone through skin progression, like a legendary weapon or one of the Spinal Blade backpacks from the “Escape from Lion’s Arch” and “Battle for Lion’s Arch” releases, you will unlock all of the skins in that direct line of progression. That means that if you made Twilight, you will have access to both the Twilight and Dusk skins across your entire account. If you’ve created the Dynamic Tempered Spinal Blades, you’ll unlock that skin and all previous Spinal Blade skins.

These rewards are perfectly acceptable, and I’d dare say long overdue for the PvP players. Stop whining.

Maybe stop being so rude? People offering criticism /= whining. Or maybe more people should visit the pvp forums and tell anyone offering criticism there about game modes, balance and whatnot to stop whining? Yeah.. didn’t think so…

Anyway, I very much agree that pvp needs better rewards. The precursor awards, gold, real life cash, gems are all well and good. What would have been even more awesome is a unique weapon skin for the winners. Something to actually set them apart. That would have been real prestige.

The overall effort across the playtime made by the team winning the tournament is more than worth a single ‘legendary’.

If only I’d have been able to put the many, many hours it took to finish my legendaries doing things I 100% loved… which is exactly what will be true for the 10 winners.

(edit: I also love the tons of rudeness some of the pvp posters have been dishing out.. alluding that anyone who doesn’t full-time spvp and dares do other activities in PvE or WvW are somehow brainless idiots with zero gaming skills whatsoever. It wouldn’t surprise me if these same people have complained about the size of the pvp community or wondered why it’s so small. Gee.. I wonder why?)

Tournament of Legends

in PvP

Posted by: Lothirieth.3408

Lothirieth.3408

Really? A legendary for winning a single tournament while others have to farm 100s of hours for one? Disgusting. Guess Anet only knows extremes with rewards, either almost nothing or precursors/legendaries lol.

The players who will win this tournament SURELY have spent 100s of hours perfecting their craft and strategies, without earning legendaries for it in the process.

We are tipping our hats to those that have put the time and dedication into PvP, and have earned this as a reward.

We’re not just handing them out.

No.. you are just handing them out for one tournament. It’s devaluing legendaries further. Yeah I know people can buy them with a credit card or on the TP but that wasn’t ever right to begin with either. I mean, 2nd place isn’t going to get their choice of it.. yet those people will have likely spent just as much time in spvp as first place.. or even 10th place. In no other place in the game can any group of players walk out with a legendary after a single event. It’s not right imo when these weapons are the end game thing so many people go after.

What you guys should have done was designed an exclusive weapon just for this tournament that literally no one else could get but the winners. Now that would have been prestigious.

many of us do not leave the mists. I play 95% of my guild wars time in the mists. I do not want to go for hours and hours into the pve to unlock a trait. The pve guys do not have to go to pvp for unlock something. Why do I have to go to pve to unlock my traits?

You keep saying in this thread how you don’t want to pve to unlock any traits. Yet if you’d actually read what Justin wrote, he did say: “you will not have to PvE to obtain them.” So, stop with the misinformation.

Anyway, this seems to be going back to the GW1 system so I’m not quite getting the outrage (also there’s stuff like LoL where you don’t have access to all the characters, some which are very powerful.. people have to play or pay real money to unlock those, then be earning enough gold throughout the match for upgrades. That e-sport is doing spectacularly well.) We don’t know how the unlocks will be paid for, but it would be cool if they were paid through a pvp currency like you did with Balthazar Faction in GW1.

Exactly. The key word is ‘earn’.

I personally see no difference between earning the materials themselves, versus buying them off the TP with gold that I earned.

Well I do, not in a monetary amount of course and yes both ways are earning the reward (there’s semantics regarding “earn” though)… but as I said it’s about the journey, working for yourself.. whatever. People are different and perceive things differently you know. Neither way is “right”. I’d rather be self sufficient. Others like being active on the market. To each their own, but right now ANet only caters to the market players. (edit: I see Rising Dusk has explained the value of the journey.)

Our suggestions concerning PVP by CC&friends

Lothirieth.3408

To be blunt, it’s because Conquest is not the most popular pvp mode out there. Especially defensive/ bunker-driven conquest, which is what GW2 has.

Players and viewers generally enjoy more offensive-oriented modes, and objects that make more intuitive sense (like, it makes more “intuitive sense” a game more where you win by invading a base or killing a leader, than a game mode where you win by running around a circle drawn in the ground as long as possible).

That’s a good point and makes sense. There is more variety to the LoL map than the conquest maps we have here.. more opportunities for varying scenarios I suppose.

There’s something I have an honest question about: the complains about a single game mode. You look at a real e-sport game such as League of Legends and they are playing the exact same map with the exact same goals… all of the time. So I’m genuinely curious why one game mode works for that game but not this one? (Personally, I’d find that incredibly boring.. but this is a genuine, non-troll question, I swear. ^^)

And I have to say, Kholer’s telegraph isn’t clear either. If you look at that video that the OP posted, you have to be real close to see it at all.

I completely disagree. I find it to be one of the most obvious in the game (as it should be considering it’s the first explorable dungeon) whether one is in melee or at range. He has quite the wind up.

Anyway, this is something that’s really been bothering me lately since I got a new PC and finally have good FPS. I’ve been able to see so much more, yet also see how muddled boss telegraphs become with the plethora of particle effects. My suggestion would be to allow us to turn them down or off. Being able to do would personally help me up my gameplay as I’d actually be able to see the bosses. One of the best examples to me is the Mossman. I feel I could do much more melee damage on him when I run level 49 fractals if I could actually see when he’s raising up his arms in the air to do his powerful attack. But often I can’t, so I’m forced to go ranged if I’d like to stay alive.

Then there’s the zerg content.. which is just.. well.. horrible. :P

But it really baffles me how ANet has made a game where watching mobs is important so that you can avoid damage, then they go and cover up the mobs with tons of flashy effects. It doesn’t quite make sense. And nor do I think these super bright orangey red circles are a good substitute. I think their base idea of boss telegraphs is great… just gotta clean up the visual mess from our attacks.

Whilst I’ve seen low levels be kicked before (which I don’t agree with unless the party was advertised as 80 only.. which is perfectly within any group’s rights), I’ve never seen a person kicked for low AP. It’s really simple: don’t join those sorts of groups. Start your own lfg saying anyone welcome, not a speed run. Find a guild.

I just don’t find your complaint to be constructive at all. Honestly you’re sort of just as bad and on the complete opposite side of those you are complaining about (seriously.. you’ve stooped to name calling.) There are some people who just want to run dungeons as fast as they can. Why should they have to help new people all the time and be unable to play how they want? Best to let people who want to speed through a dungeon do so, whilst you find more easy going people like yourself to run with.

Yep, probably never play sPvP again.

Some players after experiencing that sort of thing never, ever, ever go near it again.

Probably one of the reasons why sPvP population is so low, new blood is put off before they get going/have a chance.

This is surely happening. I know I’m struggling with it. I only want to pvp with friends, so that means team queue.. which means I’m getting consistently matched up against people who have spent far more time in spvp than me. Our guild group comprises of 3 people who have been tpvping a lot lately and they’re all in the 20-30 range, then the last two spots are filled by various others, all of us being low ranks. We’re not doing that bad though. Quite a few of our loses are by 30-40 points which is decent I suppose. Though we see more loses than wins, which can be a bit wearing. Then there’s last night when we were matched against an obvious coordinated, high ranking team. It was absolute slaughter and completely no fun. So yeah.. makes it a bit hard to keep going back when one isn’t fully into pvp. I wish things were a bit more even rather than pvp newbies being thrown in the deep end.

I’ve seen a group of 8 beat a hologram. The holograms actually scale, the knights do not.

Actually they do.

It takes much longer for 40 people to down a Knight than it takes 20 people, due to it having much higher health when there are 40 people nearby.

That’s not what I just witnessed. Gandara just now only managed to kill one knight and the failed ones had maybe 30 people on them.

Before this last change, I’d not seen Gandara fail the knights, even at 2am in the morning. The zerg would normally kill each knight in about 3 minutes. And now a group of 30 people didn’t manage to kill one the entire event. So how can you say they’re scaling properly?

one problem is when you have 18 adds running around, 6 have each buff so if they all mix up, which they do, any attack with a cleave, bounce, aoe etc etc, can mean you hit one of each colour, which is a big problem, in face even fighting when those 18 adds up is suicide for this achievement.

I have a feeling this is what causes people to fail.

I think the only way I got it fairly easily is because one fight I was in, people killed the three holograms at once which meant they didn’t then split into 6 each.. so no chaos of holograms.

This is definitely wrong.

I get loot on worldbosses 100% of the time so long as I get 10-20 seconds of DPS (often less). I mean, no two ways about it. That’s how it is.

With the knights, same character, same build, same weapons, same methods, much longer up-time, I only ever get loot on the first one I fight. Even if I’m on the second/third for several minutes.

This is precisely what happens for me as well. I might miss out on loot on a champ if I join late with my condi necro, but never on my warrior. In any case, I’m not joining late on these Assault Knights. I’m putting in a good 2-3 minutes of dps on them with zerker stats and a greatsword. If that’s not enough to get credit every time, then something is wrong.
