What’s funny is that if Evon had won, all the Evon supporters would be telling the people who wanted the Reactor Fractal to “suck it up” because “even if it was 52%, Evon won, and that’s that.”
I know some people wanted the Reactor fractal pretty bad, but I don’t think most Kiel voters cared that much about it TBH.
Yeah I’m not sure what’s going on with all the steampunk crap but we seem to get more and more of it every patch. Can’t wait for it to be done with.
OK but the Asura/Inquest are not steampunk if that’s what people are implying. They are magitek.
They combined with the Aetherblades, who were steampunk, to make a sort of hybrid steampunk aesthetic with lighting magic mixed in. But all of that was after the Reactor anyway.
micro content sucks kitten , get ncsoft to fund an expansion so i can stop being bored already, i wanna kill another dragon kitten it
That too. Will we ever see AAA content out of Anet again?
What’s this about steampunk? Did I miss a memo?
And still “very shame on them” for their disgusting sexist behavior.
Yeah, that’s pretty disgraceful. I voted 300 times for Evon, but not because I’m male.
…or a furry.
Unless there are clear rules against posting in-game chats as examples of poor behavior from the community.
There are.
Colin when will we start seeing new zones on par with the release zones(ie better than Southsun)?
Correction it was Anthony who said that
With enough whining and pleading, however, they may (I believe was also said). I’m hopeful that Abbadon will somehow make its way.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/cutthroat/IMO-ArenaNet-favors-Evon-Unfair/2473417
Hope it’s big. It was the only thing I liked more about the Ellen ticket.
Still voted Gnashblade.
It’s kind of unfortunate Evon got saddled with BL keys. A thorny issue for sure.
No, this makes more sense.
I stand corrected.
Eventually we’ll get both fractals, it has been stated. What annoys me is the “good guys always win” cliché :\
This is wrong. They said they will NOT do the loosing fractal.
Well, I think Colin said they would start work on it pretty much the day results are in. So now is our chance to get our thoughts in on what we want while they are in still in the planning stages of development.
No Golems please. Reuse as little of the map and enemies as possible. New enemies, new abilities, new environment. Lets see something fresh and creative!
What do you want?
#TeamEvonforever
Evon will always be #1 in my book.
>.>
<.<
-__-
And now, let the healing begin.
EDIT: There, fixed the image. Happy?
That makes even less sense!
I literally didn’t vote for her once! xD
I thought Gnashblade had pretty cool dialogue. He has snaz.
Clearly democracy has stumbled today.
I think, in compensation for the emotional rollercoaster that happened just now, Evon and Kiel should come to a compromise and give us all the things. xD
There’s going to be so many threads today xD
I smell a chance for political turmoil living story.
Also I was like 75% sure this would happen.
Ok, who’s trolling who? :\
Gnashblade has a way better voice-over for his minigame.
We’ll always have Southsun. Q__Q
~700. Never bothered to vote after giving 10 each on day 1 to do the achievements.
That is kind of impressive in a messed up way.
Let’s get right down to it; the fractal format isn’t good enough to do either of the scenario’s proper justice to begin with, so they might as well be a non-issue along with cheaper waypoints or cheaper keys.
I think if you are expecting better production quality than fractals out of Anet for the next year at minimum, you are gonna be pretty sad.
None, all to Evon.
So one zone with 75 people, where the ‘raid/zerg’ part requires 20-30 people. There will be merchants and there will be afk’ers. There are 6 ‘rooms’ and these all require a ticket. I think things will just be fine.
It’s an MMO, they’re trying to give us a real arena and a sense of community.
That’s true. I think it will be really cool to spectate.
Or a game like Civ 5.
I have Civ 5, it runs fine on my AMD. :V
But that isn’t a game where I notice sub 30 fps.
When GW2 goes under 20 fps though…ugh
I should add that I don’t think that means people shouldn’t vote.
There are both pros and cons to this whole voting system. I am sure Anet has learned a lot about their community.
It was neat experiment but maybe next time there should be a line-item type voting system. I have a feeling they won’t do this often, if again.
Agreed. I just don’t think it’s fair to say “If you aren’t a fractal grinder then you should have no say in this vote”
Which is the tone I got from Gnat
I can see that but it is also not great when you care about something but it doesn’t get much support because it is somewhat of a niche area of the game.
Personally,
I would rather see them install a new dungeon then a fractal. Sadly, it’s easier to get into a dungeon, then a low level fractal. Plus, a dungeon would bring new skins, armor and weapons. Fractals really need a reworking in order to bring their appeal back, personally, they need to scrap agony, make it scale to the average of the fractal levels of the group, dish out rewards based on reward level.
This way, if my fractal level 29 buddy wants to take his level 2 buddy with him, he doesn’t get penalized for it.
I believe this would increase its appeal.
This is a great idea. Either way the fractal system needs a revamp. Too few people seem to bother with it.
I don’t know anyone who would even list the dredge fractal in their top 3 favorite fractals. The gates mechanism is cool, the boss fight is interesting, but everything in between is tedious.
All the mechanics are really solid, in fact I would say they are top tier. I just don’t understand why everything has so much health. It ruins the whole thing
“I swung my sword…I swung it again…hey look I swung it again!”
For all you know Abaddon’s fall could be an underwater fractal where you fight loads of Margonites, with nary a god in sight.
Margonites would still be something new compared to Golems, Aatxes and Shadow fiends which are 90% likely to be what we would get with the Reactor.
How do you like your Golems? Spinny or punchy? How about some tiny ones(which look exactly like the spinny ones) that explode? xD
To be fair those of us that are actively doing fractals do not care one bit about the story or lore in them past the first time we did one.
Some people do a little bit of everything. I by no means hit every tier every day or even do fractals everyday. I do them when my guildies feel like doing them. Still, I have ~175 fractal frequenter so I wouldn’t define myself as a ‘non-fractal-person’.
I care about all aspects of the game: All gameplay types, art, sound, story and writing.
Balance helps keep me from getting bored.
Move on…..
MOVE ON?! But they are just sitting there, waiting for you to crack them open and get at that creamy filling.
You guys should check it out before you jump to too many conclusions.
Yes, but also you should closely watch how it plays out in the live environment after it has been released.
Sometimes a little down time is ok. We just have to see how it plays.
Either way it is trying something new that Anet will learn from.
This was a dissapointment for me anyways. I expected to find some more story going on and I was excited at first then …… c.c
I think we will get real story as soon as they are ready to open up new zones on the map. I think that is more than a year away at the least though. Anet seems to be in rebuilding… c.c
There are no complaints at all though we just know what arenanet wanted to do so they made Ellen Kiel the sure winner here, it’s not complaining it’s a fact really.
I don’t know about that 48-52 is pretty close. I am actually impressed Anet was able to balance the two so well.
Can you imagine if the fractals were switched? Evon would have gotten massacred. xD
Right choice? Your opinion. I do not do fractals. I do use waypoints. Go Kiel!!!
But what will you do when you’ve done everything but Fractals?
GW2 doesn’t hate AMD. Games that are more dependent on CPU than GPU hate AMD.
Like GW2?
Keep in mind they are not going to directly say what is going on in the fractal. All of the current fractals are vague and that is kind of the point. I doubt we would get significant story info.
What will be significant is what we fight and the environment in which we fight it.
Also I don’t think it is so simple to say GW1 story>GW2 Story but I didn’t want to make TL;DR post so maybe later.
Your concerns should be more focused on GW2 itself. If Arenanet can’t do a good job and something original with the reactor, then this game is doomed to begin with Abaddon or not, and that is far bigger issue then which fractal wins.
That’s interesting take on it. I agree and would like either fractal to be good. I don’t think it is so much a question of whether Anet has the talent(they lost a TON of top talent in the year running up to release, btw), but whether management is willing to make the investment in labor to do a good job. We saw a lot of production short cuts taken with the last act of the campaign, which was clearly rushed in comparison to the rest of the game. The battle with Zhaitan being a particularly egregious example.
Anet can do a good job with either fractal idea if they are willing to invest.
But it is going to be tempting for management to have the devs merely copy-paste old enemies and old maps to save a bunch of money on creature development, map design, art, animation, sound work and so on. Because that is how managements are. They like to do it cheap when possible.
It would have been impossible to take those shortcuts with the Abbadon Fractal, whereas the Reactor idea easily allows it.
So, in the end, we may not get to see Anet truly tested.
Maybe we’ll see some nade tossing inquest.
