evasive skills should ignore aftercast completely like normal dodge roll!
skills with evasion are ment to find a defensive use which is sometimes imposible to be pulled off as a reaction to your opponent’s cast animation(this is what they are for i believe) if you want to do damage to your opponent. All this is bcouse the aftercast period matches the cast time of the majority of spells…
conclusion: modify evasive skills (like thief s/d #3, etc…) to act much more like a dodge roll: ignoring aftercast, instantly interrupting any actions.
get any moa ability or an s/d thief. u’re welcome

also triggering kitten with ai is bad enough if you keep in mind that they heal is a trap. ranger pet + mes illus proccing it all the time saving the guas bum when you could just kill the gua. also they can pull you in anytime followed by LB pushback →2x test of faith
the problem with guas atm are the buggy wall animations that go invis and knock you down once at least, also the f3 block is riculous + they could use a CD nerf on the LB’s powershot.

we had ranked for months without leaderboards, now for whatever reason it is disabled so we have to live w/o it no big deal, i had enough though from the countless most little asuras covered by ground aoe field effects, etc….
I’ve never understood why does anet limit standard modells to ranked and as for an arena SETTING, neither think I that it would require much effort to achieve the reasonable behaviour of the ENABLE standard modells setting, which would of course let it work wherever you play sPvP.
This was mentioned numerous times in the past, there is no reason for not implementing it being that its a setting so whoever likes to fight against Big Kittys && smll rats can have it off. on the other hand it would satisfy the bigger part of the pvp population.

i cant play the game couse it gives me error log with “network error, check your internet connections” after login && selesting hero. map loads in error pops. Expected and experienced many nasty issues after HoT, this one though does not let me play. fixerino pls.

HotM crashes for me and my guild mates since last patch consistently. its a sogn to go sleep i guess!
Sigil of Air/Fire/(any damaging sigils) can reveal you after using Cloak and Dagger to gain Stealth – It happens maybe 1 out of 5 times.
it happens if you jump cast c&d and sigil procs.

I wonder why no one came up whith the question: why is it designed w/o endurance management?
my answer is becouse of accro. Think on it, drd got evade utilitys, accro got endurance management. If drd had both, the combination of accro and drd would lead into some broken nonstop-evade cheese. We dont want that.
our problem is that 2 of our traitlines serve the very same purpose: evade based combat survival.
our elite spec going to be sort of underwhelming until accro is butchered or completely reworked all becouse balance issues.
i’d say give drd a decent amount of vigyor uptime and forget accro. It cannot be nerfed anymore it’s already close to useless, rework & rename it posibly in the theme of team supporting and condition applyment+management. This should help thieves to brake out of theyr role’s prison.

Anet got access to many awesome already existing pvp modes, they are aware of our needs to get wider oftions on how to beat each other’s character to death, so they decided to play some more LoL&&DotA&&HoN and bring us Stronghold instead of sticking to the Guild Frikin Wars uniwerse.

I came up with these changes recently:
Blinding powder now grants combo field for 2 secs instead of 4 (in pvp [pve and pvp balance should have been split since release. GW1 got it’s history in this… pls take example]).
In this case Thief should have ‘f3’ and ‘f4’ abilityes :=
‘f3’ :=
cast time = 1sec
cooldown = ~40 sec
Effect: stealth yourself and nearby allyes for 6 seconds
‘f4’ :=
cast time = instant
cooldown = ~40 sec
Effect: stealth yourself for 4sec && gain protection for 4sec.
#1: give us the ability to Que up from guild halls in expansion. Give us sPvP selections for Guild Arena. Give us the ability to Buy Practice Dummys as DECORATION statuas for the arena.
Thisway we can actually have fun with 1v1’s (in our own arena, etc…), free of place practice dummys, more NPCs and so on, compared to miss a que-pop in HotM due to watching series || 9gag || youtube || moovies || forums || studying || etc….
let tomes and transmt charges be sellable on TP. This going to reward pvp players a lot more in terms on gold income.
runes should have been working like this since release…
allso id like to support the idea of splitting amulets into 3 pieces := 2rings + amulet. These could include the missing stat pieces from the runes too.
Also +1 for select self | dropp target keybind.
If anyone doesn’t know this: Set a bind for Lock Autotarget for a clear target button If you have a target it detargets. If you have none and you hold it down you can target the person you would target with Autoattack on.
with this i meant DESELECT not detarget my bad. you can deselect someone with esc or double click on the ground etc… but this smoetimes just does not work out and i sword2 back into the fight with warrior instead of disengageing.
Creating a cancel ability key bind in the control options would be AMAZING.

Pls realise that the current bad 1v1 potential is becouse of sPvP. It would (actually was) be kittened if the most mobile class could win most 1v1s. Imagine pushing offensive áll game and wrecking any opponent who decides to defend. If you are getting +1’d all you do is refugee and wait till 1 leaves then win 1v1 if both stay team wins 4v3.

[if anet wants to design a brawler type of thief it shoud reduce the passive effects in the game to closely zero, give the thief in combat regen to make it able to survive the cleave it takes while actually doing damage, however it is still gonna be extremely weak against stealth spike damage.]
I like the evade concept anet is doing for DrD however it wont be strong enough in high MMR/competitive scene.
The problem with evasion is that it locks your character, you cannot do damage. this in mind your goal is to avoid big hitting abilitys and trade health when the enemy is unlikely to get on top. this would be doable if the eavesive weaponsets had abilityes with meaningful damage, but this is not the case(PWhip is an exception).
Even at this point you are most likely fail to hit due to the opponent has got 2evades + energy sigil+1, at least 2 types of invuln, and SHlTS blind condition or maybe has barely limited access to stealth.
Sometimes the opponent dosent even need to directly hit you with an ability, its passives and aoe fileds do the job for them, not to mention passive traits that CC you unevetably.
Even worse case is when your opponent got many instantcast abilityes (yes he is going to have becouse the more ‘against’ design abilityes you have the better).
Evading should be a mechanic that allows you to actively mitigate damage after seeing combat animations, NOT TO ENCHANCE YOUR PROPHET SKILLS to make sure for example mesmer wont hit F3, all the mantras with C S to burst you down in the upcomming stunned 1,5secs.
You dont have to be a mesmer to instantpunish somebody, just grab hydro+leeching or geom+20stacks might. ALLDONE you got your own selfmade, unavoidable bullkitten!! yay!
Builds with stalth are more likely to get on top of you. You have to use a lot of resources to avoid being gut for at least 40% hp. Becouse you know… you can’t really evade something that you dont see comming.
+1factor: you won’t be able to rez anybody unless you pick shadow arts, which is not fitting into the playstyle by any means.
So, as you see evasion oriented builds are doomed against GW2’s metagame.
Whar can be done? Not much… buffing driven fortitude for something like this wold be a good beginning:

this would enchance your survival in teamfights but stay closely the same in 1v1’s
(obviously you are going to evade more kitten at once in a bigger brawl so trait can proc more than once on an evade) also opening place to counterplay with boonhate.
EDIT: i dont want thief to excell in all 1v1 situations. that would be kinda kittened if thef jumps all over the map with the ports, winns all 1v1 for nodes. But evasive thief’s incompetence in any role needs solution.

After playing Daredevil, I’m very confident my main will stay Thief but if any really dumb changes wreck the class, Roy’s got my back with Revenant.
This + mesmer(staff + gs is stoel there for me to get good at)

I had some hope to find some decent use to the daredevil s/d this beta weekend. I tryed many builds and the conclusion is:
Still bad in conqest type on point 1v1’s with pointholder classes, got worse teamfight suvival than anything in the game, still lacks damage, instadies under focus, revenants with shiro “outmobility” you, no stealth for allyes, cannot rez anything, healing is still underwhelming.
After all this said, all i can see is we can forget to succesfully fight with anything else than shadow arts D/P, which lacks in burst and overall damage compared to ANY marauder or zerker profession, is extremely squishy therfore a terrible brawler. We stay the invis rez, +1 && decap bots we where before after HoT hits, if revenant does not refil our role completely just 3x better… u know mesmer + revenant roam hurts…

Dodge acts like a skill: Cost 1 initiative, 50 endurance, has pre- and after-cast, proc’s confusion, has issues with body block
prty much this.
what you are feeling is the aftercast coused by the new evade.
- sometimes traitline gets bugged and you got no endurance from energy sigils or evade uses up 75 endurance.
- you cannot perform another evade with bound while dealing the damage after evade frams this leads into:
- there is a spot between double dodging when you can be damaged while using DD GM’s. (?aftercast?)
- bandit’s defense’s counter attack cannot be stow weapon’d or evade cancelled.
- bandit’s defense is disabled by somme stun effects making you unable to stunbreak.
- impaling lotus evade block’s you from casting instants (like steal, shadowstep, etc). so does dodge-jumping. fix both pls.
- slow makes wierd stuff to new dodges.

This is the best balance move any mmo could do, but I believe its really hard, cuz none done it yet.
I know that GW1 can’t be called an MMO but the Devs there pleased us with this wonder and I still got some hope.

The original game did that when a skill was being abused in PvP but was fine in PvE. It was honestly a b’etter balancing strategy and I wish they still did it that way.

Anet removed one more pve vs. pvp difference in last patch, c&d to name it. I suggested to head in the other direction and see how good the old inventionts are, but as you see, my words are no big deal either.

Out of curiosity. How do you determine if someone is macroing?
Pretty much if a guy is doing dodge jump all the time which in combat is impossible to do it every single time.

dodge jump got its activation frames which are not hard to hit if you got used to the thing, so is evade casting non rooting spells (this one is harder though but can hit too with 100% chance with good practice). things like double jump is harder couse it requires client side lag to perform on a ~50% ratio.
train a bit more and you gonna find yourself doing it all the time to not get stuck in a stone on the ground.
The only useful pets in spvp are wolf/drakehound and sometimes hyena/spiders.
guess you never tryed double bird, beastmastery builds… then you would realize that you are the pet and not the owl that hits for the same amout as a backstab.
also i find rangers in a better spot than pre patch. there are decent cele might stacking trapper point holding builds, just wourk around a bit. On the other hand if you like power builds more, try 2x bird + taunt + rapidfire.

but seriously i find myself rerolling due to frustration to smth else after dieing too much to this a day.
trying to use shadowstep on 5 different places to stunbreak without success can be a disaster you know..
also the thing when you waste 6 init on an infiltrator arrow that hits ground and noothing happens.
pathfinding isnt bad in this game (ranger pets, etc… work perfectly), dont really see how can be porting messed up this bad.
+ sometimes you find youself stuck in terrain after infiltrator’s retuning. then if a gentle opponent does not kill you and let die, you have to relog to continue playing…
It’s very possible that your MMR is SO high that the matchmaker doesn’t expand enough to grab people to play with.

ideally the game would look like you described, but anet’s new whimsy is instant cast skills, so the newly introduced fast paced skillfull damage EVASION oriented gameplay suffers.

imo he means that the are a lot of instant mitigations, where you can perform actions under the duration. and yepp i find this lame too.
