Just out of curiosity, why you finding this week so boring? Do we not give you the decent fights you require? Personally I think FSP offers your server some decent fights and challenges (in comparison to server rank and prime time ofc).

too many bandwagoning gandara players around since we are “winning”. Finding everything red and outmanning our opponent in almost every single fight is exactly the opposite of what we enjoy doing. it has nothing to do with the quality of your players and guilds, its just boring going around the bls for hours without finding a good fight.

I was called fanboy in another thread where some engineers cried about how weak harppon gun is. This just showed me up how weak a big part of the community plays. I am not afraid about a nerf because most engineers will need years or will never get behind how strong engineer is underwater. Au contraier they tell you they avoid underwater combat because they feel so weak.

The fact that immediatly a guy shows up and tells us mesmer is more op confirms this. Mesmer is strong underwater but sucks hard compared with engi.

while I agree that engineer is extremely strong underwater a good condition mesmer is at least just as good. nothing else comes close, except for ele but for different reasons (4 or 5 easily cast cc abilities).

bloodlust makes little difference in my experience. an extra player, a good player or simply the wrong class getting involved in a fight is alot more impactful than bloodlust.

somedays it all just goes wrong :p

Nobody has said Bloodlust is the only OP Mechanic in WvW:

• AF and GK (and wXP/Word Ranks in general)
• Ascended Weapons/Gear
• Stacking World Buffs
• Bloodlust

They all contribute to make WvW a very unfriendly place for casual players, up-leveled characters (remember the promise of leveling in WvW?), altaholics, or people on less-populated Servers.

no it didn’t. unless you believe roaming = dueling. there’s plenty of those.
as a decent roamer you always go against the odds 1v1ing people with support builds is not a challenge. some extra stat points is nothing compared to a whole extra player or two opposing you.
just adapt and dont risk 1v3 when they have all orbs. but do try that 1v4 when you have them.

zergs just aoe corpses, small groups often have to stomp. making small groups count more is a good thing.
you still have the choice anyway.

All I’ve done in wvw ever was roaming, either solo or in a small group.

This patch is amazingly fun for me. The ruins are awesome places to fight at, very well designed, filled with little tricks, no stupid walls or gates players can hide behind with 30 arrowcarts, they make escaping zergs (and frustrating them with decaps) very easy.

People are giving way too much importance to the stat buff and ppt. Me? I just care for some good fights and there’s plenty to be had now.

^and don’t forget someone running elixir S and elixir B pretty much has 3 guaranteed stomps. thats going to be pretty fun. Id still prefer toss H to have stability tho, seems like a weird choice having it on B now that I think of it.

Agreed, roaming has never been so much fun. I wish every part of the wvw maps had this much detail and thought put into them. There’s just so many good places to fight, escape, jump. It’s pretty kitten good. Don’t even care about the orb buffs, they only affect those rare extremely balanced fights, people die with or without orbs if you are good enough.

Elixir C: This skill now functions with Potent Elixirs.

I’m curious how this will work. Does Elixir C convert incoming conditions when you’re under the effect of it? I thought it just converted on consumption. There was always a posted duration, but I never noticed it actually working.

To the best of my knowledge, it converts on consumption and the boons you receive last for the listed duration.

on consumption and converted boons by elixir C last 5 seconds (base). even if u get 30 seconds of poison it will only give u 5 seconds of a random boon after conversion. when converting multiple conditions you might get several stacks of 5 seconds of the same boon tho.

cheers man, we had fun. it was our first time doing organized 5v5s in wvw so we had to experiment a bit. I have to admit, we were really struggling when we only had 1 guardian, things went much smoother with 2.

we are going to try and get some more of this 5v5s, but guilds like yours are a rare thing. <3

there’s a few issues I see with it. stuff like poison dart volley which hits 5 times already. or even blowtorch to the face when incendiary powder just procced .. is that 4 stacks right there?

hidden flask has a hidden 90 second cooldown, if it starts working with fast acting elixirs that cooldown will be 20% shorter, meaning 18 seconds, 72 instead of 90. Not the biggest of changes but it will help.

toss elixir B stability has to be at least 4 seconds base so its any use for stomps and avoiding melee trains.

if this changes do go live, a build running elixir b and s has 3 free stomps. bring it!

stability on B and fast acting elixirs working on hidden flask, I like it. and the bombkit radius thing too. I hope stability on toss b is at least 4 seconds tho.

regarding desolation (and I hate to be generalizing, I know it’s only a small portion of players that do it but) I never saw so much childish trashtalking. People actually join our groups screaming homophobic insults in caps lock, a la 14 year old playing CoD. We had that happening more times last week than all previous year together. Its only a game, try to behave and have fun.

I’ll check rs mill from time to time for duels as well. cheers.

furthermore it will make your pistol #1 deal “double damage” in some situations such as shooting at max range or shooting from above. what happens is the pistol hits, pierces and explodes right behind the target doing damage two times.

Got an ascended weapon today (carrion stats) from a rank up chest going 175.

a good necro should always be able to beat a good engie in wvw, imo. there are, however, a few tricks to balance it out a bit, based on my experiences against condition necros (which may be wrong!)

-first, get used to see what signets -if any- the necro is using.
-signet of spite has a fairly easy animation to spot and gives you a chance to dodge if you are fast enough. If you do get hit with it don’t panic with the overload of conditions. Alone, they won’t do much damage to you, it’s that cripple and that weakness you need to worry about. Elixir C is a great counter to this (and to corrupt boon as well).
-plague signet ill transfer necro’s conditions to you, but not many run this. Its devastating if you are using conditions tho.
-signet of locust/undeath are nothing to worry about.

-Most necros only run one stunbreaker and that is usually spectral walk. Spectral walk is very obvious, necro turns green. you should play a bit more defensive and avoid multi hitting skills like p#2 when they use it, because hitting a necro while he uses SW will give him life force for his death shroud. the skill also allows the necro to return to the original location.

As most only run one stunbreak and their only source of stability is 3 seconds on DS (if traited), CC is usually their weak spot. The most common heal a necro uses is Consume conditions. It is on a 25 seconds timer and has a fairly large cast time which makes it easily interruptable. Also, it will heal the necro more for each condition he has. So my advice here is: cc early and cc often (immobilizes as well) and try to interrupt the heal (learn the animation),

Almost every single necro runs with a staff, at the very least as a secondary weapon. The way the staff works makes it very very hard to avoid the marks. My advice is: if you see the marks are small, just try to block it out. If they are large, means he is running greater marks.. which ignores blocks so dont even. Just fight at range, the marks have large cooldowns and once used necros will , normally, fall back to their other weapon set. If he has a large number of conditions and starts running to you while wielding a staff he is most likely trying to transfer conditions back to you with staff #4. Stay away. You can even get hit with it, just not while the necro is in range of the mark himself.

- ds skills are the tricky part. There’s an instant cast fear they can even use while stunned so not much you can do against it but eat it. torment can be very strong so I usually remove it right away. the #4 channaleing skill will work very well for necros against your elite turrets. If he tries to use it against the turrets, interrupt him as soon as possible, especially if he is at low hp/low ds. Most likely he’s just buying time for a heal.

-elites: plague form is useless in a 1v1, cripple and kite, you’ll be fine. Lich form hits like a truck but most condi necros dont use it, seems to work better for power builds. Notice that the transformations give necros stability.
The golem is great for 1v1s, 2 things you gotta pay attention: it will snare you when it hits you with normal hits so always kite it. It can charge you on command and knock you down while also hitting pretty hard. You should use your stunbreaker asap because good necros will take this opportunity to use their most powerful stuff like spite or just chain cc you with a double fear while conditions tick away. killing the golem early is a good option too, if you have enough dps.

theres alot more stuff to it and it also depends greatly on what build you using so I didnt go into that. 409 and elixir C help me alot against necros and even condition mesmers.
also , avoid at all costs healing while under poison.

not a very exciting matchup, I find it very hard to find good fights. Seems we either outnumber the enemy heavily or are heavily outnumbered by abbaddon.. Some nice fights tho and majority of gandara can give good fights.

There’s a really simple fix you can attempt to prevent badly outnumbering your enemy. I’ve heard people saying it works and that it can lead to finding good fights, but if I were you I’d test it out first, they might have been lieing.

step 1: run smaller groups.
step 2: fight bigger groups.
step 3: make sure your router is well plugged in. or is that step 1?

Our experience this morning was one of the most boring ones I ever had in wvw, thanks to the newly introduces ascended stuff.

My group enjoys, most of all, fighting in small scale against a more numerous opponent. I’m ok if other people prefer other styles of play or blobbing around. It doesn’t really bother me.

What bothers me is that most players we encountered today didn’t even fight. We were all morning in the same borderland. Every 30 mins a new farming blob would come in, take everything and waypoint away to another bl. Zero defense, zero people outside of the blob. Just us, trying to hit the tail of the blob and the blob not giving a crap, because who would risk dieing to us if that means no ascended shinies?

So towards the end of our play session we were again following an enemy zerg and we killed a lonely warrior who was standing behind trying to get a fight, but not expecting 4 of us. He joined our group and talked to us about how crappy wvw was being for him too; he was there to do something fun, pvp, and he ended up getting punished for it because he didn’t get his ascended stuff, while everybody else in the zerg got it without putting any effort into it.

Hows is that fair, how is that fun?

I’m not gonna suggest any changes because I have great faith in the dev team and I know they have the same ideas as we do and a better general idea about the impact of changes than the average player.
All I’m saying is this needs fixing and fast, please do not wait for the new system and the 17th patch to make some changes. WvW cannot, in my view, become just an easy way to farm.

you are doing it wrong! the correct and effective way to taunt a zerg is to place siege weapons all over in the open field. just place them, dont bother building, thats not the point. they will get drawn to it, like a zerging moth to a flame ram.

and I wasn’t talking about my engie build specifically, I do have 6 level 80 toons, all of them played regularly.
I can’t imagine any circunstances where a full rabid user will kill my elementalist, for example. I mean, ether renewal alone removes 8 conditions in 4 seconds, every 15 seconds. Even if you manage to interrupt it, there’s still a gazilion other removals and heals in the typical cantrip build… and then it’s ready again in 15 seconds.

But don’t mistake what I said as meaning I think rabid or dire is bad, because thats not at all what Im saying. Rabid is a good and I have one set on my engie and one on my necro which I use at times. Just saying it’s not as strong as people make it sound it is, it certainly has its disavantages.

I’m not really concerned about engis wearing Dire, I’ll most likely still use PVT armor with condi damage trinkets on my condi/hybrid builds.

I think atleast condi necros and rangers will become a problem.

I agree with necros. at least when supported. I play mine as an epidemic bot for my 5 man group and Im probably switching to the new gear. Doing that will kill my direct damage tho so Im really gonna be dependent on my buddies. Still, aoeing 17 seconds of cripple and 9 seconds of weakness while being that tanky will feel pretty good.
